ð¥ Key Highlights: ð© Terrapin (W: 5â3) Connor Wong opened the scoring with a solo home run in the 2nd and added a single later, finishing with a 1-for-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI line. Oneil Cruz was electric: despite 3 strikeouts, he delivered a game-tying solo HR in the 6th, finishing 1-for-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI. Michael Busch showed great plate discipline with 2 walks and a run scored. Maikel Garcia had a quiet but critical 2-hit game, including an RBI single. The team totaled only 5 hits but made them count with 5 walks and 2 home runs, converting scoring chances in the 6th and 8th, then piling on with 4 runs in the 6th inning alone. ð¨ Cedar Rapids (L: 3â5) Anthony Santander belted a solo homer in the 3rd, one of only two Cedar Rapids extra-base hits. Jeimer Candelario and Ramon Laureano each tallied 2 hits, with Candelario chipping in a late RBI. Marcus Semien was quietly productive, notching a hit, a sac fly, and 2 RBIs. Despite a 9-hit effort, the offense faltered in key moments, going cold late and stranding runners in several innings.Cold Bats: Cedar Rapidsâ Joey Bart and Trevor Story combined to go 0-for-8 with 4 Ks. Terrapinâs Luis Arraez had a rare off night, going 0-for-5 with weak contact. ð§ Managerial Moves: Terrapinâs patience paid offâ7 walks proved decisive in such a low-hit game. Both pitching staffs were solid, but Terrapinâs late-game pen clearly had the edge. â Player of the Game: Oneil Cruz Gave Terrapin momentum with a 6th-inning home run and showed why he's a threat in any count. His power turned the tide in a game that looked to be slipping away.

ð¥ Cedar Rapids Standouts: Trevor Story: Crushed a 3-run HR in the 4th, the defining blow of the game. Finished 1-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Anthony Santander: Followed up with a 2-run homer in the 6th, giving the Pirates enough cushion to ride out the Terrapin rally. Josh Bell: Doubled and drew a walk, continuing his solid middle-of-the-order production. Ramon Laureano & Billy Hamilton: Combined for 3 walks and a run scored, showing patience at the plate. Yu Darvish (P): Earned the win despite giving up 8 hits and 3 runs over 8+ innings, striking out 10 and walking none. ð¢ Terrapin Highlights: Tyrone Taylor: The offensive sparkâ3 RBIs, including a solo HR in the 8th, a 2B, and a run-scoring single. Michael Busch: Stayed hot with another HR (solo shot in the 6th). Connor Wong & Ketel Marte: Both added hits to keep the pressure on Darvish late. Zack Wheeler (P): Took the loss, struggling in the 4th and 6th despite decent stuff (5 runs allowed, including two longballs).ð§ What Decided It: Cedar Rapids had just 3 hits, but two were game-changing HRs, both with runners on base. Terrapin scattered their 8 hits and couldnât manufacture enough with zero walks drawnâa sign of Darvish's control. Despite 14 Ks, Cedar Rapids was opportunisticâtwo rallies, five runs. â Player of the Game: Trevor Story His 3-run homer changed the tone of the game and proved to be the game-winner. He brought the energy and power Cedar Rapids needed. ð Final Thoughts: A game of contrastsâTerrapin had more hits and arguably better overall offensive pressure, but Cedar Rapids brought the power and patience. With two clutch homers and seven walks, the Pirates flipped the script from Game 1 and evened the series with a statement win.
