OPENING DAY! - I lost track of how many Opening Day starts Max has made, but it may be that this is his last... Today he was in a lineup that included eight Mariners first round draft picks (including himself). It didn't help much as Kremer and three relievers held NE to four hits. Meanwhile, Wyatt Langford had quite a debut - batting ninth, he smacked a two run home, singled and scored a second run, and drew a pair of walks to lead his team to victory.

In the bottom of the 8th, Bibbe held a 4-0 lead and had advanced to grade A. Then the Mariners rallied for four to tie the game. Ironically the two run game tying single came on the dreaded Runners on 2nd and 3rd play result 8 vs an A pitcher. St Paul had several chances to score in extra innings but could not get a run across _ Seager threw out Walker at the plate in the 10th. In the 13th, Mariner defensive replacement Brett Wisely came up for his first NABL at bat - he rolled a 66-0 resulting in a double, runner to third. Patrick Wisdom, with his all or nothing card, drew a walk, and Rhys Hoskins hit a deep fly for a walk off sacrifice fly. Luis V Garcia was the star of the St Paul squad with a single, a pair of doubles and two rbi.

The rubber game was a back and forth affair. Rookie NE starter DJ Herz walked three in the first inning and two scored on a Luis V Garcia single. NE took the lead with a pair in the 2nd and one run in the 3rd. The teams each scored two in the 7th and A Garcia tied the game leading off the 9th with a homer. Corey Seager drilled a two out, two run walk off HR to end the game and give NE a series victory.
