Jun 20 2024Taylor went 2-for-3 with a walk and two stolen bases in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's been a brutal season for Taylor, as evidenced by the fact that this was his first multi-hit game. The utility man capitalized on reaching base three times by swiping two bags after entering Thursday with just one steal this season. Taylor is still slashing a putrid .131/.230/.192 on the campaign, but he's at least shown some signs of life of late, going 5-for-15 over his past six contests.
Jun 14 2024Taylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-3 win over the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This was Taylor's first homer and second extra-base hit over 106 plate appearances this season. The veteran utility man has a pitiful .108/.200/.151 slash line with nine RBI, six runs scored and one stolen base over 39 contests. Taylor is usually able to carve out a steady role as a short-side platoon option at a variety of positions, but his poor hitting and the Dodgers' good health with their batters has prevented the 33-year-old from seeing anything close to regular playing time.
May 24 2024Taylor will start in left field and bat seventh Friday against Cincinnati. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor has seen his playing time dwindle in the past month as Andy Pages leapfrogged Taylor on the depth chart and Jason Heyward returned from injury. He's slashing .097/.219/.097 with 30 strikeouts in 74 plate appearances this season.
Apr 17 2024Taylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor started in left field both of the past two days while the Dodgers faced left-handed starting pitchers, but the 32-year-old looks set to lose playing time to right-handed pitching after Los Angeles called up outfield prospect Andy Pages from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday. Taylor's struggles while filling in as a starting corner outfielder in place of Jason Heyward (back) might have expedited Pages' arrival to the big leagues. After an 0-for-2 showing in Tuesday's 6-2 win over Washington, Taylor has just one hit in 35 at-bats on the season and has struck out in a whopping 42.9 percent of his plate appearances.
Apr 10 2024Taylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor had started in left field in five of the Dodgers' previous six games, but he went hitless during that stretch and is now off to a 1-for-26 start to the 2024 campaign. The continued absence of Jason Heyward (back) leaves a spot open in the Los Angeles outfield against right-handed pitching, but Taylor's ongoing struggles could make it tough for manager Dave Roberts to justify keeping the 33-year-old in the lineup with regularity.
Apr 7 2024Taylor will start in left field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor will draw a fourth consecutive start in left field after going 0-for-9 with two walks over the previous three contests. Despite having yet to get going at the plate this season, Taylor looks as though he'll play regularly against right- and left-handed pitching while the Dodgers wait for Jason Heyward (back) to return from the injured list.
Apr 1 2024Taylor went 1-for-1 with three walks, a stolen base and a run in a 5-4 victory against St. Louis on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor got his second start of the season, batting fifth and playing left field. In his first start, he struck out in each of his three at-bats, but the utility man turned things around by getting aboard four times Sunday, including three times via walk. His final free pass was particularly important, as it was followed by Max Muncy's game-winning two-run homer. Taylor is clearly not going to get everyday at-bats as long as the rest of the Dodgers roster is relatively healthy, so he's most useful in fantasy formats that allow daily moves.
Mar 5 2024Both Taylor and Enrique Hernandez are expected to work as super-utility players for the Dodgers this season, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: When Los Angeles signed Teoscar Hernandez to play left field in January, it closed a door to Taylor nabbing an everyday corner-outfield role. The organization then signed Enrique Hernandez in late February, giving the team another player capable of playing all over the field. While that may cut down on Taylor's opportunities to some extent, manager Dave Roberts has historically found a way to give Taylor fairly regular work, though he did see a drop in his plate appearances to 384 -- his fewest over a full campaign since 2016 -- last season. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect to see Taylor penciled into the lineup on an everyday basis, but he still offers some value in leagues with daily lineup changes due to his positional versatility and ability to notch homers and steals in the mid-teens.
Jan 8 2024The Dodgers envision Taylor filling a utility role in 2024 after the team signed Teoscar Hernandez to a one-year, $23.5 million contract Sunday, Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Hernandez is expected to slot into a near-everyday role in left field, while the Dodgers are likely to deploy Jason Heyward and Manuel Margot as platoon partners in right field. Though his pathway to regular action in the corner outfield appears to be closed, Taylor will still be an option at either spot when any of those three players receive a day off. Additionally, Taylor is capable of covering center field, second base, third base and shortstop, giving him multiple avenues to picking up at-bats if the Dodgers lose one of their everyday infielders or outfielders to injury. When the Dodgers are at full strength, the righty-hitting Taylor could still have a good chance at cracking the lineup versus left-handed pitching at the expense of either James Outman or Gavin Lux (knee).
Oct 9 2023Taylor is not in the lineup Monday for Game 2 of the NLDS versus the Diamondbacks, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor looks to be over the knee injury he suffered in the final game of the regular season, as he appeared in Game 1 off the bench. He'll ride the pine again to start Game 2, with Miguel Rojas starting at shortstop, Mookie Betts handling second base and David Peralta covering left field.
Oct 4 2023Taylor (knee) is participating in an intrasquad game Wednesday in Los Angeles, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor was hit on the left knee by a pitch in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Giants, but he only suffered a mild contusion and is expected to be ready for Game 1 of the NLDS on Saturday. Miguel Rojas (hand/wrist) is also playing in Wednesday's intrasquad game at Dodger Stadium.
Oct 1 2023Taylor left Sunday's game against the Giants with a left knee contusion. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He avoids a serious injury after getting hit by a pitch and exiting the season finale. Taylor should have enough time to get right for Game 1 of the NLDS on Saturday.
Sep 8 2023Taylor went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and five RBI in Thursday's 10-0 win over the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After a run-scoring single in the fifth inning and an RBI double in the sixth, Taylor put the finishing touches on the rout with a majestic three-run shot in the eighth. The versatile veteran has gone deep in back-to-back contests, matching his home run output from his previous 41 games. This marks the second time in Taylor's career that he has reached 15 homers and 15 steals in a single season.
Sep 6 2023Taylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Tuesday in a loss to the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor had the only extra-base hit in the contest for Los Angeles, taking A.J. Puk deep to left field for a game-tying solo shot in the seventh inning. It was the utility man's 14th homer of the campaign through 318 plate appearances, an uptick over the 10 long balls he hit across 454 plate appearances last season. Taylor has chipped in some speed as well with 15 thefts in the current campaign, though he's batting just .227 and has struck out at a 32.7 percent clip.
Sep 3 2023Taylor went 0-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Sunday's 3-1 win over Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor has gone 4-for-10 with five walks and three steals over his last five games. He's picked up eight of his 15 steals this season since the start of August. The 33-year-old is starting to hit a little better, but he's slashing just .226/.322/.420 for the season with 13 home runs, 40 RBI and 43 runs scored through 97 contests.
Aug 29 2023Taylor went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Tuesday's 9-1 win over the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was a strong effort for Taylor on his 33rd birthday. He had gone just 6-for-25 with two extra-base hits and no steals over his last nine games. The versatile veteran is now at a .228/.317/.427 slash line with 13 steals, 13 home runs, 40 RBI, 41 runs scored, 12 doubles and a triple over 93 contests this season.
Aug 16 2023Taylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor finished the scoring with a seventh-inning blast. The homer was his first since July 17. During his 21-game power-drought, he hit .227 with just two doubles and seven RBI, though he had five stolen bases in that span. The utility man is at a .219/.309/.426 slash line with 13 homers, 38 RBI, 39 runs scored and 12 steals through 84 contests overall.
Aug 13 2023Taylor went 1-for-2 with two walks, two stolen bases and two runs scored in Sunday's 8-3 win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This was Taylor's second multi-steal effort in August, and he's logged five of his 12 thefts on the year over 11 contests this month. The utility man has hit safely in three straight games, going 4-for-10 in that span. For the season, he's at a .218/.306/.414 slash line with 12 home runs, 37 RBI, 38 runs scored, nine doubles and a triple over 271 plate appearances.
Aug 5 2023Taylor went 0-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases and a run scored in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor made the most of his trip on base, stealing second and third before scoring on a sacrifice fly in the second inning. The utility man continues to provide coverage at multiple positions, most recently spelling Max Muncy (wrist) at third base over the last two games. For the season, Taylor is up to nine steals while slashing a shaky .216/.297/.428 with 12 home runs, 37 RBI and 35 runs scored through 77 contests. He's hit safely in 10 of his last 13 games, going 11-for-44 (.250) with nine walks in that span.
Jul 18 2023Taylor is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: On Monday, Taylor received his first start since coming off the injured list Friday, though he had logged four at-bats in a non-starting role over the weekend. The utility man produced the biggest hit of the contest Monday against Baltimore, belting a sixth-inning grand slam that turned a two-run Dodgers deficit into a two-run lead. Taylor started at shortstop before moving to left field late in the game, but Miguel Rojas is starting at shortstop Tuesday while David Peralta is manning left field.
Jul 15 2023Taylor isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Saturday against the Mets, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Despite being activated from the injured list ahead of Friday's contest, Taylor still has yet to re-enter the Dodgers' lineup. Mookie Betts will continue to start at second base while Taylor sits, keeping Jason Heyward in right field and batting seventh.
Jul 14 2023Taylor (knee) was activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's game against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With Miguel Vargas at Triple-A, Taylor should be able to play pretty regularly, at least in the short term. He hit .189 with two home runs and one steal in 37 June at-bats before landing on the shelf. Taylor went 2-for-5 with one home run in two rehab games.
Jul 10 2023Taylor (knee) shifted his rehab assignment to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday and went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk while playing seven innings at shortstop. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor was making the second appearance of his rehab assignment, after he initially went 1-for-2 with a walk while playing for the Dodgers' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate Friday. Though the utility player saw action at shortstop Sunday, he could end up settling into a regular role at second base when he's likely activated from the 10-day injured list when the Dodgers reconvene following the All-Star break. The Dodgers have an opening at the keystone after optioning the struggling Miguel Vargas to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday.
Jul 8 2023Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Taylor (knee) will be activated off the injured list at the end of the All-Star break, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor hasn't started a game since June 15 and went on the injured list June 25 with a right knee injury. He's been rehabbing at the team's complex in Arizona and played in his first ACL game Friday, going 1-for-2 with a walk. Taylor was 2-for-11 with a homer and four RBI across his last five games prior to landing on the IL.
Jul 1 2023Taylor (knee) is not expected to return to the field until after the All-Star break, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor has been on the injured list due to a bone bruise in his right knee, an injury he suffered back on June 16. He's currently rehabbing at the team's spring training complex in Arizona and is not close to a return.
Jun 25 2023Manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Taylor (knee) is going on the 10-day injured list, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The transaction should be retroactive to a few days ago, which would allow the 32-year-old to be activated as early as next weekend. According to Ardaya, the skipper indicated the bone bruise in Taylor's right knee hasn't gotten any worse since he suffered the injury June 16, but there's also been minimal improvement. Yonny Hernandez was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.
Jun 23 2023Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters before Friday's game versus the Astros that Taylor (knee) will be limited to bench duties over the next two games before having a chance to return to the lineup Sunday, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor has not been able to start since suffering a bone bruise in his right knee last Friday against the Giants. The versatile 32-year-old will be out of the lineup for the next two contests, but it's a positive development that Taylor should be in the starting nine for the Dodgers by the early portion of next week.
Jun 21 2023Taylor (knee) remains out of the lineup Wednesday against the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor appeared as a pinch hitter Tuesday but hasn't started a game since last Friday due to a bone bruise in his right knee. Michael Busch is handling third base and batting ninth Wednesday with Max Muncy (hamstring) also currently sidelined.
Jun 20 2023Taylor (knee) told reporters before the game versus the Angels that he received a cortisone shot and a PRP injection, and he could be available off the bench for Tuesday's affair, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dodgers manger Dave Roberts is hopeful that Taylor will be able to return to the lineup as a starter by the weekend, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Taylor has not been able to return to the lineup since leaving Friday's game against the Giants with his knee contusion. The versatile utility player is out of the lineup again for Tuesday's bout against the Halos, but his availability off the bench suggests he's not far from returning to the lineup barring a setback.
Jun 18 2023Taylor (knee) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against San Francisco, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor hasn't been able to play since leaving Friday's game against the Giants with a bruise on his right knee. The outfielder will miss at least one more game while recovering. Michael Busch gets the start at third base with Jason Heyward lined up in right field.
Jun 17 2023Taylor (knee) isn't starting Saturday against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor had to leave Friday's contest after experiencing pain in his right knee, and an MRI revealed a bone bruise Saturday, per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. Taylor figures to return in a few days, meanwhile Michael Busch will start at the hot corner in Taylor's place and bat eighth.
Jun 16 2023Taylor left versus the Giants on Friday with right knee pain, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor was pinch-hit for after noticeably limping in his previous plate appearance. Michael Busch took over for Taylor in the contest. For now, Taylor should be considered day-to-day, but it's likely he'll need to undergo imaging to determine the severity of the injury.
Jun 11 2023Taylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor picked up a pair of starts in both left field and at shortstop over the past four games, going 3-for-16 with a solo home run and a stolen base. He should have a fairly clear path to steady playing time versus left-handers, but he'll likely sit out against right-handed pitching more frequently when the Dodgers are at close to full strength.
Jun 8 2023Taylor went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Thursday's victory over Cincinnati. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor kept the momentum going for the Dodgers with a leadoff homer in the top of the fourth inning to put the team up 4-0 behind a dominant Clayton Kershaw. He would later add a single to give him just his fourth multi-hit game since the start of May. The shortstop came into Thursday's matchup having gone just 3-for-16 since his two homer game on May 28 and remains a highly inconsistent bat in the Dodgers' lineup. He is, however, already up to 10 long balls on the season.
May 28 2023Taylor went 3-for-3 with two homers and three runs scored in Sunday's 11-10 loss against Tampa Bay. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor smacked a pair of solo shots off Rays starter Josh Fleming, loudly ending a 14-game stretch without a homer. Sunday's performance may be what Taylor needed to get back on track -- he'd gone just 5-for-36 with a .406 OPS since May 9. Overall, the 32-year-old utility man is batting .213/.276/.500 with nine homers, 21 RBI, 20 runs scored and four stolen bases in 134 plate appearances this season.
May 26 2023Taylor is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Rays, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor has managed just a .125/.177/.188 batting line across his last 12 contests and now been out of the lineup for four of the last five games. Miguel Rojas will get the nod at shortstop Friday.
May 18 2023Taylor is not in the starting lineup Thursday against the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Wednesday's series finale versus the Twins and is batting just .186 with a .250 on-base percentage through 112 plate appearances for the season. Granted, the 32-year-old utilityman has still managed to tally seven home runs, 17 RBI, four stolen bases and 17 runs scored. He could appear off the bench at some point in Thursday's series opener at St. Louis.
May 9 2023Taylor hit a two-run home run in his only at-bat against Milwaukee on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor began the contest on the bench before being called up on to pinch hit for Michael Busch in the ninth inning. The veteran utility man came through with a two-run shot to center field, though it didn't make much of an impact on the outcome since the Dodgers still trailed 9-3 after the long ball. Taylor was batting an ugly .145 as recently as Aug. 29, but he's come alive since then, slashing .429/.478/.952 with two homers, three doubles, a triple, seven runs, seven RBI and two steals over his past seven contests.
May 6 2023Taylor went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Dodgers mustered only three hits and five walks in the contest, but Taylor's fourth-inning blast was all the offense they needed in the win. He's gone 7-for-16 (.438) with five extra-base hits, five RBI, two steals and six runs scored over his last five games. The utility man is slashing .205/.267/.500 with six homers, 15 RBI, 14 runs and three stolen bases across 86 plate appearances this season, though his hitting is trending in the right direction.
May 5 2023Taylor is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Padres, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor went 2-for-3 with a triple, a stolen base and two runs scored in Wednesday's series finale against the Phillies, but he'll take a seat in Friday's series opener against the Padres and right-hander Yu Darvish.
May 4 2023Taylor went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor's speed was on display in Wednesday's victory. The 32-year-old utilityman legged out a one-out triple in the seventh inning before scoring on Freddie Freeman's sacrifice fly. Taylor then got the Dodgers started in the ninth with a single before swiping second base -- his third steal of the year -- and eventually scoring on Max Muncy's walkoff grand slam. Taylor now has three consecutive multi-hit games, going 6-for-11 with five extra-base hits in that span after a slow start to the season. He's now slashing .205/.272/.479 with five home runs, 13 RBI and 13 runs scored through 81 plate appearances. Taylor should continue to see regular playing time for Los Angeles, thanks to his positional versatility.
May 1 2023Taylor went 2-for-4 with a double, a run, an RBI and a stolen base in a 6-3 win against the Cardinals on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor had one of his best offensive games of the campaign, notching multiple hits for just the second time. The utility man drove in a run with his first double of the season in the fourth inning and scored on a sacrifice fly after singling, stealing second and reaching third on a wild pitch in the eighth. Taylor still has a long way to go to bring his slash line, which currently sits at .167/.222/.409, up to a respectable level.
Apr 6 2023Taylor is starting at shortstop and batting eighth Thursday versus the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Miguel Rojas is again absent due to groin tightness, so Taylor will make his third straight start at short. Miguel Vargas (thumb) is also sitting Thursday night in Arizona, with Mookie Betts covering second base.
Apr 4 2023Taylor will start at shortstop and bat eighth for the Dodgers on Tuesday against the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Miguel Rojas (groin) and Miguel Vargas (thumb) are both absent. Taylor belted a two-run homer in Monday's rout of Colorado, but that's his only hit through 12 plate appearances on the season.
Mar 26 2023Taylor could be limited to more of a part-time role to begin 2023 with David Peralta, James Outman and Mookie Betts looking like the Dodgers' primary outfielders, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The left-handed bats of Peralta and Outman should have them seeing most of their chances against right-handed pitching, which likely leaves Taylor to start versus southpaws. Taylor certainly didn't help himself with a poor showing during spring training, as he hit .125 and struck out 23 times in 57 plate appearances, which tops his career-worst 35.2 percent strikeout rate from 2022. The veteran utility man should still see fairly regular at-bats between shortstop -- where Miguel Rojas is filling in with Gavin Lux (knee) out for the season -- and the outfield, but Taylor's fantasy utility could be limited unless he's able to make more consistent contact and carve out a larger role.
Mar 15 2023Taylor is slashing .115/.281/.115 with four runs and an RBI through 32 Cactus League plate appearances. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor endured his worst campaign as a Dodger last season, slashing just .221/.304/.373 with a career-worst 35.2 percent strikeout rate. The rough season has dropped his fantasy stock considerably, and he hasn't helped buoy managers' confidence by notching just three hits -- all singles -- in 26 at-bats this spring. One thing Taylor does have going for him is his ability to play a number of positions. He's expected to be the Dodgers' primary center fielder this season and should also log a fair amount of time at shortstop, so he'll have ample opportunity to produce.
Mar 1 2023Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Taylor will see 20-25 percent of his playing time at shortstop, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Miguel Rojas will see the bulk of playing time at short, but Taylor will rotate in from the outfield every four-to-five games. This development comes with the Dodgers losing Gavin Lux for all of the 2023 season due to a torn ACL and sprained PCL. Be it at short or all over the outfield, Taylor is in for a significant amount of playing time, and is a good bet to bounce back from his disappointing 2022 campaign.
Feb 28 2023Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Taylor will start a throwing program to play more shortstop, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This comes on the heels of Gavin Lux's torn ACL diagnosis, which is likely to keep him sidelined throughout the entire 2023 season. Miguel Rojas is the most obvious fill-in at shortstop for Los Angeles, but Taylor has appeared in 259 major-league games at the position and can lend a helping hand as well. Granted, he played only one total inning at short in 2022, so there is going to be a bit of a readjustment here.
Feb 4 2023Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Taylor is in the mix to be the starting center fielder, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Roberts mentions five potential options to be the starter in center, including Taylor, Trayce Thompson, Jason Heyward, James Outman and Bradley Zimmer. The Dodgers non-tendered Cody Bellinger after another disappointing season, and it appears Los Angeles could go with a committee approach for the 2023 campaign. Taylor was also disappointing last year with an OPS of .677 over 118 games while also dealing with injuries, but the 32-year-old's success in the past make him a quality bounce-back candidate near the end of redraft formats.
Oct 12 2022Taylor (neck) will start Game 3 of the NLDS against the Padres on Friday in left field, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After battling tightness in his neck since the start of October, Taylor will officially make his return to the field Friday. He will face Blake Snell on the mound in Game 3, whom Taylor is 5-for-19 against in his career with two home runs and 10 strikeouts.
Oct 11 2022Taylor (neck) isn't in the lineup for Game 1 of the NLDS against San Diego on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: While he was officially included on the Dodgers' NLDS roster Tuesday, Taylor's neck soreness will push his return to the lineup back a bit further into the postseason. While he continues to heal, Trayce Thompson will start in left field and bat eighth.
Oct 7 2022Manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Taylor (neck) will take live at-bats Sunday and Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It had previously been reported that Taylor would hit against live pitching Saturday. Although plans have changed and he's going to wait another day, Taylor still appears tentatively on track to make the NLDS roster if his live BP sessions go smoothly. He received a cortisone injection in his ailing neck earlier this week.
Oct 5 2022Taylor (neck) isn't starting Wednesday against the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: As expected, Taylor will remain out of the lineup for Wednesday's regular-season finale as he continues to deal with neck stiffness. Per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register, Taylor will resume baseball activities Wednesday, and manager Dave Roberts said he expects the veteran to be part of the Dodgers' National League Divisional Series roster.
Oct 4 2022Taylor (neck) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 32-year-old received a cortisone injection Monday for his neck stiffness and will sit Tuesday for the fourth straight game. According to J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News, Taylor will also be unavailable for the final game of the regular season Wednesday but is expected to resume baseball activities, and he could play in intrasquad games this weekend, which leaves open the chance of being ready for the NLDS next week.
Oct 3 2022Taylor received a cortisone injection in his neck Monday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Skipper Dave Roberts is growing more concerned about Taylor's availability for the NLDS, though according to Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register, he remains "hopeful" about the utility man's status. The team will continue to monitor him day-by-day with the goal of getting him healthy enough to play in the first series of the postseason.
Oct 2 2022Taylor (neck) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 32-year-old was scratched from the lineup Saturday with neck stiffness and will sit out Sunday for a second consecutive contest. According to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, manager Dave Roberts said Taylor's neck is "not great," though the utility man is still considered day-to-day. Trayce Thompson will receive another start in left field for Los Angeles.
Oct 1 2022Taylor was scratched from the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies due to neck tightness, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor's initial diagnosis doesn't seem particularly serious, but the Dodgers will be cautious given that they've already secured home-field advantage throughout the postseason. Cody Bellinger was added to the lineup in his place, starting in center field and pushing Trayce Thompson to left.
Sep 30 2022Taylor went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 10-1 win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor scored in the second and fourth innings. He also capped off the Dodgers' eight-run rally in the fourth with a two-run single. He'd gone 12 games without a multi-hit effort, slumping to a .122 average (5-for-41) in that span. The versatile veteran is up to a .221/.304/.373 slash line after Friday's productive game, and he's added 10 home runs, 43 RBI, 45 runs scored and 10 stolen bases through 118 contests.
Sep 25 2022Taylor is not in the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Cardinals, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor started the past two games and will take a seat after he went 1-for-6 with two walks and three strikeouts. Joey Gallo is starting in left field and batting seventh in Sunday's series finale.
Sep 22 2022Taylor isn't in the lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor is getting a breather after he went 0-for-11 with four strikeouts over the last three games. Trayce Thompson will take his place in left field and bat eighth Thursday.
Sep 20 2022Taylor went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in a 5-2 win over Arizona on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor's fourth-inning, three-run shot was initially called a double, but upon review it was determined that the ball cleared the left-field fence. The homer was his 10th of the campaign and gave him his third big-league season with double-digit long balls and thefts. Despite reaching that milestone, Taylor has struggled overall with a .226/.309/.389 slash line through 417 plate appearances.
Sep 17 2022Taylor isn't starting Saturday against San Francisco. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor is getting a day off after he went 5-for-13 with a double, a run, an RBI and a stolen base over the last three games. Joey Gallo will start in left field and bat eighth.
Sep 12 2022Taylor isn't starting Monday against the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor started the last five games and went 4-for-19 with a homer, two RBI and six strikeouts. Joey Gallo will start in left field and bat seventh Monday.
Sep 5 2022Taylor is not in Monday's lineup against the Giants, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Mookie Betts is getting the start at second base for the second time in three games while Trayce Thompson is in the lineup against a righty, so perhaps Taylor could be more of a part-time player going forward. Taylor is hitting .171/.289/.303 with two home runs and three steals in 23 games since returning from injury Aug. 5.
Aug 31 2022Taylor isn't starting Wednesday against the Mets, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor is on the bench for a second consecutive game after he went1-for-8 with a double, a walk and five strikeouts over his last three matchups. Joey Gallo will start in left field and bat eighth.
Aug 30 2022Taylor is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets, according to Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor went hitless and stuck out three times in Monday's game, so manager Dave Roberts decided to hold him out a day later. Trayce Thompson will enter the lineup in Taylor's place.
Aug 28 2022Taylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Along with Cody Bellinger and Will Smith, Taylor will step out of the starting nine and get a breather while the Dodgers and Marlins get together for a day game after a night game. Taylor, who went 4-for-19 with a double, a walk, three runs, an RBI and a stolen base while starting each of the past five games, will cede his usual spot in left field to Joey Gallo.
Aug 23 2022Taylor went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 10-1 win over the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor was 0-for-10 with eight strikeouts across his last three games before snapping the slump Tuesday. The multi-hit effort was his first since June 26, though he missed a month with a foot injury in that stretch. The versatile 31-year-old also swiped a bag for the first time since Aug. 5. Despite his struggles at the plate, he's maintained steady playing time recently. He's slashing .230/.313/.400 with eight home runs, eight steals, 31 RBI and 36 runs scored through 88 contests overall.
Aug 21 2022Taylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor will take a seat for the second straight day after he's had a rough go at the plate since coming off the 10-day injured list Aug. 5. In his first 12 games since being activated, Taylor has slashed .171/.261/.366 with a 41.3 percent strikeout rate. Though Taylor remains the Dodgers' nominal starter in left field, he'll likely cede work to Joey Gallo and Trayce Thompson until he begins to heat up at the plate.
Aug 13 2022Taylor isn't starting Saturday against the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor started the last two games and went 1-for-7 with a solo home run, two walks and four strikeouts. Joey Gallo will take over in left field and bat eighth.
Aug 11 2022Taylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in an 8-5 win against the Twins on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor swatted a solo shot to left field in the sixth inning for his first first long ball since early June. The utility man has spent substantial time on the injured list over that stretch, but it was still a 28-game span without going deep. Taylor slugged 20 homers and knocked in a career-high 73 runs last season, but with just seven long balls and 30 RBI so far this season, he'll be very hard-pressed to reach those numbers by the end of the campaign.
Aug 9 2022Taylor is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Twins, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor is 1-for-10 with a double, two RBI, a run, a stolen base and five strikeouts in three games since returning from the injured list Friday. Joey Gallo will start in left field and bat eighth Tuesday for Los Angeles.
Aug 6 2022Taylor went 1-for-4 with a double, a run, two RBI and a stolen base in an 8-1 win against the Padres on Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Playing in his first game since July 4 due to a foot injury, Taylor doubled home two runs in the third inning and stole third before scoring. The 31-year-old started at second base and is now slashing .238/.318/.410 with six home runs, 33 runs, 29 RBI and seven stolen bases across 75 games.
Aug 5 2022Taylor (foot) was activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He will presumably slot into the lineup against lefty Sean Manaea. Taylor missed exactly a month with the foot injury. He is hitting .238/.319/.409 with six home runs and six steals in 74 games.
Aug 4 2022Manager Dave Roberts said Thursday that he "wouldn't be surprised" to see Taylor (foot) activated at some point during the team's weekend series against the Padres, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor has appeared in two rehab games at Triple-A Oklahoma City and has gone 3-for-7 with two homers and three RBI. While he initially appeared to be trending toward a return sometime next week, he'll have a chance to beat that timetable by rejoining the Dodgers for the upcoming series against San Diego. It's not yet clear what exactly day Taylor would be activated, but his return appears to be imminent.
Aug 3 2022Taylor (foot) went 0-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch in a rehab appearance with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: In his first game action since July 4, Taylor led off for OKC and played six innings in left field. The versatile veteran is expected to log several more appearances with the Triple-A club before potentially returning to the Dodgers next week.
Aug 1 2022Taylor (foot) will begin his rehab assignment Tuesday at Triple-A Oklahoma City, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor, who has been on the shelf since July 6 due to a small fracture in his left foot, is expected to require around a week's worth of at-bats in the minors to get his timing back at the plate before he rejoins the Dodgers. Once he's activated, Taylor could settle back into a near-everyday role in left field, where the Dodgers have been getting by with a combination of Gavin Lux, Trayce Thompson and Jake Lamb in recent weeks.
Jul 31 2022Taylor (foot) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment Monday and is expected to require at least a week's worth of plate appearances before being reinstated from the injured list, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Dave Roberts still isn't sure which affiliate Taylor will report to for the rehab stint, but the outfielder shouldn't be expected to rejoin the Dodgers until at least the second week of August. The 31-year-old has been sidelined since early July due to a small fracture in his left foot.
Jul 30 2022Taylor (foot) will begin a rehab assignment Monday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor has been steadily ramping up his activity across the last week and is now nearing a return. It's unclear which minor-league affiliate he will begin with, but Taylor could be activated as early as the latter half of the Dodgers' upcoming series against the Giants.
Jul 27 2022Taylor (foot) may see action at second base upon his return from the injured list, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After logging substantial time in the infield last season -- he played 46 games at second base, 11 games at third and 23 at shortstop -- Taylor has played exclusively in the outfield so far this season. That development has been intentional, as the team has sought to avoid stress on his right elbow, which he had scoped last November. Taylor's recent time off to heal his fractured left foot has also given him time to focus on his elbow, and he now feels comfortable throwing from different arm angles. Should he see enough time at second base in the second half of the campaign, it could enable him to retain eligibility at the position for the 2023 fantasy season.
Jul 25 2022Taylor (foot) was cleared to run on the field Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor stated that he felt good after his first time running since breaking his foot. Per Ardaya, the utility man is expected to see simulated at-bats in Los Angeles later in the week while the team travels to Colorado, and he could then progress to a rehab assignment if all goes well.
Jul 23 2022Taylor (foot) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment next week, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor hasn't yet been cleared to resume running, but he'll return to game action in the minors once he's ultimately cleared to do so. The 31-year-old took batting practice on the field ahead of Saturday's game against the Giants and has also been fielding grounder and throwing recently. Taylor has been sidelined since July 4 due to a small fracture in his left foot, so he'll likely require several rehab games before he's able to rejoin the Dodgers.
Jul 21 2022Taylor (foot) has taken swings, fielded grounders and begun throwing, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor suffered a small fracture in his left foot July 4, so a true indication of his potential return will come when he can begin running again. Even so, any progress is positive and could keep Taylor in line for an early August return.
Jul 6 2022Taylor (foot) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 31-year-old was diagnosed with a small fracture in his left foot Tuesday, and it was only a matter of time before he shifted to the injured list. Taylor will be eligible to be reinstated July 15, but he's unlikely to be healthy at that point and figures to be sidelined for at least a few weeks.
Jul 5 2022Taylor said Tuesday's CT scan revealed a small fracture in his left foot, and he'll be placed on the injured list, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor originally suffered the injury Saturday and sat out Sunday before rejoining the lineup Monday, but he exited that contest and is now set to miss some time. The 31-year-old will be eligible to return prior to the start of the All-Star break July 17, but he's more likely to be sidelined for at least the few weeks. Trayce Thompson and Jake Lamb are likely to see upticks in playing time during Taylor's absence.
Jul 4 2022Taylor (ankle) is set to undergo further imaging and will be out for at least a few days, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor said after the game that his foot kept feeling worse as the contest went on, so he'll be out of the lineup for the next couple of days as the team evaluates the injury and determines how to best treat the utility man.
Jul 3 2022Taylor (foot) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor's absence from the lineup comes as no major surprise after manager Dave Roberts admitted after Saturday's 7-2 win that the veteran would likely sit for the series finale while tending to a left foot injury. Fortunately for Taylor, X-rays on his foot returned negative, and Roberts suggested that the 31-year-old could still be available off the bench Sunday if a specific situation arises, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Ideally though, the Dodgers will look to stay away from Taylor with the hope that he'll be able to rejoin the lineup Monday against the Rockies.
Jul 2 2022X-rays on Taylor's foot were negative, but manager Dave Roberts said he does not think Taylor will be in the lineup Sunday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor fouled a ball off his foot Saturday and eventually left the game. He has been cleared of a fracture, though Roberts said Taylor is sore, so a day off is likely in the cards. Mookie Betts (ribs) will return Sunday, and while it sounds like Betts will mostly play second base upon his return, he will fill in for Taylor in right field in the series finale.
Jun 26 2022Taylor went 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in Sunday's 5-3 win over Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor didn't start Sunday, but he entered the game as a pinch hitter for Eddy Alvarez in the seventh inning. In his first two at-bats, Taylor hit singles, scoring in the ninth inning, and he added a go-ahead RBI double in the 11th that accounted for the winning run. This was the utility man's fifth multi-hit effort in 21 games in June. He's batted .257 (19-for-74) this month and is slashing .254/.332/.440 with six home runs, 27 RBI, 30 runs scored and six steals in 67 contests overall. He remains the Dodgers' top left fielder this year, and he should continue to play consistently.
Jun 14 2022Taylor (face) went 1-for-3 with a double and a stolen base in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor wasn't expected to play Tuesday, but he started in left field and batted eighth. The 31-year-old delivered one of the Dodgers' three hits in the low-event game, and he stole third base after his ground rule double in the fifth inning. He's been steady in June, going 10-for-37 (.270) with a home run and five doubles in 11 contests. For the season, Taylor's slashing .256/.338/.456 with six home runs, four stolen bases, 25 RBI, 25 runs scored, 15 doubles and three triples in 57 games.
Jun 12 2022Manager Dave Roberts said after Sunday's loss to the Giants that Taylor (face) won't start Tuesday against the Angels but will be available off the bench, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: While Taylor will be out of the lineup for at least one game after exiting Sunday's matchup following a collision with the wall in left field, it doesn't seem as though he's trending toward a long-term absence. Eddy Alvarez and Hanser Alberto are candidates to enter the lineup during the series opener against the Angels.
Jun 9 2022Taylor will sit Thursday against the White Sox, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor will get a breather Thursday after starting eight straight contests, going 7-for-28 with a homer, two RBI and three runs in those games. Gavin Lux will get the start in left field and bat eighth with Max Muncy returning to the lineup at second base.
Jun 4 2022Taylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-1 victory versus the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor struck out twice in his initial three at-bats before he launched a 399-foot solo shot in the eighth inning. The long ball was his sixth of the campaign and extended his modest hitting streak to five games. Over that span, he's slashing .467/.529/.667 with a homer, three RBI, two runs and two walks.
May 30 2022Taylor will sit Monday against the Pirates, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor hits the bench after going hitless in both of his last two games. Kevin Pillar will start in left field for the second straight game, while Cody Bellinger starts in center.
May 26 2022Taylor went 3-for-6 with a two-run home run, a double and an additional run and RBI in Thursday's 14-1 triumph over Arizona. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor recorded his first three-hit game with an RBI double and run in the second inning, single in the fifth and two-run shot in the eighth. The successful outing continued a torrid stretch for the 31-year-old, who's now 7-for-18 with two home runs, two doubles and a triple over his last four games. After striking out 14 times in a six-game stretch earlier in May, Taylor has limited the whiffs to three across the torrid streak.
May 25 2022Taylor went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 9-4 win over Washington. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor scored on a Mookie Betts homer in the second inning, and he slugged his own two-run shot in the following frame. This was Taylor's second consecutive contest with an extra-base hit following a six-game stretch during which he went 2-for-19 with only a pair of singles. He's slashing .246/.331/.425 with four homers, 18 RBI, 20 runs and three stolen bases on the season.
May 22 2022Taylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game in Philadelphia. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor will sit for the first time since May 10, ending a string of 11 consecutive starts during which he slashed .205/.311/.410 with two home runs and a stolen base. Gavin Lux will spell Taylor in left field in the series finale.
May 16 2022Taylor went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, an additional run and a double in Monday's 5-4 victory versus Arizona. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor connected for a two-run shot to right field in the sixth inning, and that proved to be the difference as Los Angeles navigated a narrow win. The utilityman recently endured a four-game, 0-for-14 stretch that included 10 strikeouts, but he has bounced back by reaching base safely 10 times over his subsequent five contests. Taylor has gone 6-for-17 with two doubles, two homers, four walks and four RBI over the five-game stretch.
May 14 2022Taylor went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and three total runs in a loss to Philadelphia on Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor accounted for the Dodgers' first run of the game with a solo shot to left field in the third inning, and he scored two additional runs in the back-and-forth affair. The long ball was just the second of the season for the utilityman, who swatted 20 homers last season. Taylor recently endured a 1-for-20 stretch, but he has picked things up by collecting back-to-back multi-hit games.
May 11 2022Taylor went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored Wednesday against the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor returned after a one-game absence caused by a knee injury to play right field and hit seventh. He reached base on a walk in the seventh inning and came around to score on an Edwin Rios double. Though it's positive Taylor was able to return after a brief absence, he now has one hit across his last 20 at-bats.
May 10 2022The bone bruise in Taylor's left knee has improved, and the utilityman was able to participate in warmups and take batting practice Tuesday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor left Monday's game against the Pirates after fouling a ball off his left knee and was subsequently diagnosed with a bone bruise. The Dodgers have indicated that the 31-year-old is day-to-day and may not need a trip to the injured list, and that appears to be a viable scenario given his quick improvement. Taylor had been struggling before the injury, going just 1-for-17 with 12 strikeouts over his previous five games.
May 9 2022Taylor has been diagnosed with a bone bruise on his left knee and will be considered day-to-day, Matthew Moreno of Dodger Blue reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Dodgers can breathe a sigh of relief, as Taylor has avoided a significant injury after fouling a ball off his left knee Monday evening. He'll likely be re-evaluated Tuesday morning to determine his availability for the second game of the series.
May 4 2022Taylor went 2-for-3 with two RBI in Tuesday's 3-1 win over San Francisco. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor's second-inning single knocked in a pair of runs in the low-scoring contest. The utilityman has settled into an outfield role this season, as he has logged all of his playing time between left field, right field and DH. Though he has only one long ball this season, Taylor has contributed a .304/.367/.464 slash line along with six doubles, 11RBI, seven runs and two steals.
Apr 30 2022Taylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during Friday's 5-1 win over Detroit. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor connected on his first home run of the season in the second inning but was unproductive in his other two at-bats with two strikeouts. Despite the lack of homers, Taylor is slashing a solid .288/.362/.441 with an OPS over .800, a threshold he's only reached twice in his previous nine seasons.
Apr 18 2022Taylor will sit Monday against Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor has gotten off to a strong start this season, hitting .333/.382/.500 with a pair of steals. He'll sit for just the second time this season Monday, with Gavin Lux starting in left field.
Apr 17 2022Taylor went 1-for-3 with a double, walk, run, two RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 9-1 victory against the Reds. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor did most of his damage during a seven-run fourth inning, recording a two-RBI double, steal of third and run while tacking on a walk in the eighth. The utility man is slashing an impressive .333/.382/.500 in the early going with two thefts, putting Taylor on pace to reach double digits in steals for the third time.
Apr 13 2022Taylor went 1-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in a victory versus Minnesota on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor's seventh-inning triple was his first of the campaign and pushed his hitting streak to open the season to three games. He's batted out of the bottom third of the order in each of his appearances thus far but has been one of the Dodgers' best hitters with a .455/.462/.818 slash line over 13 plate appearances. Taylor is hitting out of the No. 6 slot for the first time this season in Wednesday's contest against the Twins.
Apr 10 2022Taylor went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in Sunday's 9-4 loss to Colorado. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor sat out in Saturday's matchup but returned to the lineup for Sunday's series finale. Although he committed a fielding error in the bottom of the first inning that resulted in three unearned runs in the frame, the 31-year-old was the only player to record an extra-base hit for the Dodgers in the loss. Taylor now has a double in each of his first two appearances this season.
Apr 9 2022Taylor isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a strikeout Friday, but he'll get a breather during the second game of the year. Gavin Lux will shift to left field while Edwin Rios enters the lineup as the designated hitter.
Apr 2 2022Taylor will get the "bulk of the playing time" in left field for the Dodgers following the trade of AJ Pollock, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Pollock was slated to open the season as the team's primary left fielder while Taylor was expected to rotate at different positions, but that plan has somewhat shifted with Pollock's move to Chicago. Taylor's versatility should still lead to him seeing time around the field, and Harris notes that Gavin Lux is also likely play some in left field, though not in a straight platoon. Taylor's fantasy managers should expect the utility man to get plenty of playing time this season.
Mar 21 2022Taylor (elbow) played second base in a minor-league game Monday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor had his right elbow scoped in November and has been brought along slowly to start camp. Barring setbacks, however, it looks as though he has plenty of time to get ready for Opening Day, as he's already playing in some capacity and is expected to play in a Cactus League game Thursday.
Dec 1 2021Taylor signed a contract with the Dodgers on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor declined the Dodgers' one-year, $18.4 million qualifying offer in mid-November, but he'll return to the team after drawing interest from several clubs in free agency. According to Rosenthal, it's a four-year deal worth $60 million that includes a $13 million team option for 2026. The utility man slashed .254/.344/.438 with 20 homers, 92 runs, 73 RBI and 13 stolen bases across 148 games in 2021, and he should continue to see plenty of playing time during the 2022 campaign, particularly after Corey Seager signed with the Rangers.
Nov 15 2021Taylor declined the Dodgers' $18.4 million qualifying offer Monday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: $18.4 million is a lot for a player who's nominally a utility man, but Taylor is in the rare group of players who have transcended that label while still providing all the benefits a utility player usually provides. Taylor made at least seven starts at every position except pitcher, catcher and first base last season, all while hitting .254/.344/.438 (good for a 113 wRC+) with 20 homers and 13 steals. That flexibility means he fits on virtually every roster, so there should be plenty of competition for his services this winter.
Nov 7 2021The Dodgers extended a qualifying offer to Taylor on Sunday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He will have 10 days to decide whether to accept the one-year, $18.4 million offer from the Dodgers. While teammate Corey Seager is a lock to decline the qualifying offer, Taylor is more of a borderline case, as he may not make quite as much in 2022 if he seeks a long-term contract. Taylor, 31, hit .254/.344/.438 with 20 home runs, 13 steals and 3.1 fWAR in 148 games in 2021. He played at least 20 games at center field, left field, second base and shortstop while also seeing time at third base and in right field.
Oct 21 2021Taylor went 4-for-5 with three home runs and six RBI in the Dodgers' win over Atlanta in Game 5 of the NLCS on Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor drove in a run in each of his four at-bats, three of which left the yard. Not only did he carry the Dodgers' offense in an elimination game, but he also set a team record for most total bases in a postseason contest, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Taylor now has at least one RBI in three of five games in the NLCS and is hitting .364 across 39 postseason plate appearances.
Oct 8 2021Taylor will start in center field in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Giants on Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Dodgers' offense was unable to generate much production in Game 1 of the NLDS, so manager Dave Roberts will put Taylor in the lineup in an attempt to generate a spark. Cody Bellinger will shift to first base, which means Matt Beaty will likely take on a bench role.
Oct 7 2021Taylor went 1-for-2 with a walkoff two-run homer in Wednesday's wild-card win over the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor didn't start the game but entered as part of a double switch in the seventh inning. He popped out in his first trip to the plate but was a hero in his second, sending a slider from Alex Reyes over the outfield wall with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the Dodgers to the NLDS. He struggled down the stretch, hitting .108/.200/.169 over his last 25 games while battling a neck injury, but he still finished with a .782 OPS while starting at six different positions this season, so he should play a major role for the rest of the playoffs even if he doesn't start every game.
Oct 6 2021Taylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's wild-card game against the Cardinals, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The first-time All-Star has enjoyed a full-time role for the majority of the season, but he saw his playing time tail off in September, due in no small part to a recurring neck injury. Taylor looks to be healthy entering the playoffs, but he may have to settle for a short-side platoon role now that Los Angeles has all its key hitters available with the exception of Max Muncy (elbow).
Sep 25 2021Taylor (neck) is starting in left field and batting seventh Saturday in Arizona. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Neck soreness limited Taylor to just two at-bats since Sept. 19. He was excellent for most of the year, but is mired in a 4-for-49 (.082) slump over his last 17 games.
Sep 24 2021Manager Dave Roberts said that Taylor (neck) will be available off the bench Friday against the Diamondbacks, and he tentatively plans for the utility man to start in center field Saturday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor is out of the lineup Friday for the third straight game with neck soreness, but he'll be available off the bench for the second day in a row. While Roberts said the tentative plan is for Taylor to rejoin the starting nine Saturday, he noted that the club won't hesitate to amend those plans if necessary.
Sep 23 2021Taylor (neck) is feeling better but isn't expected to be available off the bench Thursday against the Rockies, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: A neck issue will keep Taylor on the sidelines for the third straight game, but he'll at least be able to get some swings in Thursday. The Dodgers wouldn't commit to him returning Friday, but it looks as though he could be back within a few days given that he's trending in the right direction.
Sep 22 2021Taylor (neck) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor has been dealing with a lingering neck issue recently, and he'll be out of the lineup for a second straight game. He won't be available off the bench Wednesday, per Eric Stephen of SBNation.com, and Gavin Lux, Mookie Betts and Luke Raley will start in the outfield from left to right.
Sep 21 2021Manager Dave Roberts said Taylor was unavailable for Tuesday's win over the Rockies due to the lingering neck injury, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor sat out six games last week due to the injury but appeared to be healthy after starting the past two games, but he wasn't available for Tuesday's contest. The 31-year-old should be considered day-to-day, though it's a worrisome development to have the injury resurface so quickly with the playoffs on the horizon.
Sep 18 2021Taylor (neck) will return to the lineup as expected Saturday against Cincinnati, batting sixth and playing center field, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor hadn't started in over a week while dealing with a neck issue. He appeared off the bench Friday and will be involved from the start Saturday. He'll look to snap out of a slump in his return to action, as he's gone 2-for-39 with 16 strikeouts over his last 13 games.
Sep 17 2021Taylor (neck) said the plan is for him to return to the lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor is not in the starting nine for the sixth consecutive game Friday, but it sounds like the utility man is nearing a return to action. While he's tentatively scheduled to play Saturday, the Dodgers will likely be cautious with the utility man during the final two weeks of the season in the hopes of having him at 100 percent for the postseason.
Sep 15 2021Taylor (neck) is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's the fifth straight absence for Taylor as he continues to deal with a neck injury. According to Eric Stephen of SBNation.com, the 31-year-old is available off the bench Wednesday, so he appears to be closing in on a return to the lineup. Gavin Lux is receiving another start in left field Wednesday for the Dodgers.
Sep 14 2021Taylor (neck) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor hasn't seen the field since Friday while dealing with a neck injury, and his absence will continue Tuesday. It's possible he'll require a stint on the injured list. Gavin Lux will receive another start in left field in his place.
Sep 13 2021Taylor (neck) remains on the bench for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor has been dealing with a neck issue and hasn't played since Friday. Manager Dave Roberts noted that Taylor is unlikely to play the next two nights, and he may require a trip to the injured list, per Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times. Gavin Lux will remain the starter in left field Monday.
Sep 12 2021Taylor (necK) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Dave Roberts said after Saturday's 5-4 win that Taylor was unlikely to play in the series finale, so the 31-year-old's absence from the lineup Sunday was fully expected. Taylor has now been on the bench for two straight games since injuring his neck, but the Dodgers are viewing the issue as a day-to-day concern and don't believe he's a candidate for the injured list.
Sep 11 2021Taylor (neck) likely won't be in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor didn't appear in Saturday's win over San Diego due to his neck injury, and the issue is apparently serious enough to keep him on the bench for Sunday's series finale. If he's ultimately held out of the lineup, his next chance to start will be at home against the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Sep 6 2021Taylor went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 5-1 win over St. Louis. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 31-year-old contributed the biggest hit in a four-run opening frame for the Dodgers, which saw them rack up five of their eight baserunners for the game. Taylor has hit a bit of a skid lately -- even with the homer Monday, he's gone just 3-for-34 in his last 10 games. The utility man has a .264/.353/.461 slash line with 20 long balls, 71 RBI, 87 runs scored and 13 stolen bases through 536 plate appearances.
Aug 31 2021Taylor is not starting Tuesday against Atlanta, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor went 1-for-14 with a solo homer while starting each of the previous four games. He'll take a seat Tuesday with the Dodgers back at full health, but his defensive versatility should have him back in the starting nine before too long.
Aug 29 2021Taylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and three strikeouts in a 5-2 win against the Rockies on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor knotted the score at 2-2 with his fourth-inning long ball off Colorado reliever Tyler Kinley but was unsuccessful in his other three at-bats. The homer was Taylor's second of August as he's regressed to a .247/.326/.388 slash line in 85 at-bats this month.
Aug 26 2021Taylor is not starting in Thursday's lineup against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Dodgers are resting a few regulars, likely due to the 16-inning contest that ensued Wednesday night. However, the return of Mookie Betts (hip) also crowds the outfield for the Dodgers. Both Taylor's versatility and his .278/.369/.476 line for the season likely mean he will maintain regular playing time, though he could see more days off down the stretch.
Aug 21 2021Taylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a bases-loaded walk in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The utility man started Saturday's contest in right field. Taylor delivered his 18th homer of the year in the fourth inning and added a walk to force in a run in the sixth. The 30-year-old has hit safely in each of his last three games, going 3-for-8 with two walks, three RBI and two runs scored in that span. He's up to a .280/.370/.481 slash line with 66 RBI, 83 runs scored and 11 stolen bases in 484 plate appearances.
Aug 18 2021Taylor is not starting Wednesday's game against the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor went 0-for-3 with a walk Tuesday and is now hitting .244 with three RBI and 17 strikeouts in his last 10 games. Billy McKinney is starting in right field Wednesday.
Aug 14 2021Taylor went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Getting the start at third base, Taylor racked up his sixth multi-hit performance in the last 12 games. The 30-year-old utility player is slashing .308/.357/.481 over that stretch, and with Mookie Betts (hip) out and Justin Turner (groin) not 100 percent, Taylor should remain a consistent presence in the Dodgers' starting nine.
Aug 8 2021Taylor went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's 8-2 win over the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor stole second base in the fifth inning after singling. In addition, he scored after hitting another single in the seventh inning on Cody Bellinger's home run. The 30-year-old is going to lose playing time to Trea Turner, but he is making the case for himself, batting .353 over his past eight games. On the season, he is slashing .286/.377/.496 with 17 home runs and 62 RBI. Also, he leads the team with 80 runs and 11 steals.
Aug 1 2021Taylor went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in Saturday's 8-3 victory versus the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor slotted into the leadoff spot for the 12th straight game and was against a catalyst at the top of the lineup. He plated the game's first run with a single in the second inning and stole home as part of a double steal in the second. He finished July with a .333/.369/.619 slash line along with seven homers, 20 RBI and three stolen bases.
Jul 31 2021Taylor went 2-for-5 with a home run, a triple and three RBI in Friday's loss to Arizona. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With Mookie Betts (hip) on the IL and Trea Turner (COVID-19) not yet ready to make his Dodgers debut, Taylor slotted into the leadoff spot for the 11th straight game. He did plenty of damage atop the order, plating the Dodgers' first run with a solo homer in the sixth inning and tripling in two more in the seventh. Since taking over the leadoff role July 19, the All-Star utility man is slashing .340/.367/.830 with six homers, nine RBI, 11 runs and one stolen base.
Jul 25 2021Taylor went 3-for-4 with two home runs in Sunday's win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor clubbed two homers in the same game for the second time over his last six games, and he has launched five dingers over that span. The infielder is also riding a six-game hitting streak with four multi-hit contests. He's hitting .480 in that span, making him one of the hottest bats in the National League over the past week.
Jul 21 2021Taylor went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, stolen base and strikeout in a 4-2 loss to San Francisco on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor knotted the score 1-1 with his first-inning bomb off Giants' starter Logan Webb and later singled and stole second in the fifth. He recorded two of Los Angeles' three hits in a game dominated by pitching and has now gone 5-for-8 with three home runs and a double over his last two games, raising his OPS from .815 to .858 in the scorching span. The stolen base was Taylor's ninth as he approaches his second double-digit steal campaign and first since 2017.
Jul 17 2021Taylor went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Friday's 10-4 win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor homered off Chi Chi Gonzalez to open up a five-run first inning. It was his only hit of the game, but he has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 contests. Over that stretch, he is slashing .347/.385/.510 with 12 RBI and nine runs. It has been a nice turn around since batting just .226 over the month of June. The second baseman leads the Dodgers in runs (64) and stolen bases (8). He trails only Mookie Betts in combined home runs and steals, setting him on pace for his best season since 2017.
Jul 8 2021Taylor went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and one run scored Thursday against the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor extended his hitting streak to nine games, four of which have been multi-hit efforts. His performance on Thursday was highlighted by both an RBI single and double, which came in the fourth and fifth innings respectively. Taylor has had a strong first half of the season, as he's maintained a 135 wRC+ while racking up 10 home runs, 45 RBI and 61 runs scored across 333 plate appearances.
Jul 7 2021Taylor went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in Tuesday's loss to the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: In addition to collecting two of the team's nine hits, Taylor also played three different positions in the 10-inning contest, starting at second base before shifting to left field and later playing center. That versatility is a big part of what makes the veteran so valuable to the Dodgers and was likely a factor in the first All-Star selection of his career. Taylor is slashing .274/.383/.453 with 10 home runs, 43 RBI, eight stolen bases and a 13.3 percent walk rate on the campaign.
Jul 3 2021Taylor isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor will get a breather after he went 4-for-11 with two doubles, four runs and four RBI across the last three games. Max Muncy will shift to the keystone while Albert Pujols starts at first base.
Jun 30 2021Taylor went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor made his presence felt with a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning, but he went silent the rest of the way. The second baseman has had his fair share of ups and downs at the plate of late and is hitting just .227 on the month, but he has been a fantasy asset overall this year thanks to 10 homers, seven steals and a respectable .262/.377/.448 slash line.
Jun 25 2021Taylor is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Cubs, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor has played in every game in June, so he'll get a well-deserved rest Friday. Zach McKinstry will start at second base with AJ Pollock, Cody Bellinger and Mookie Betts manning the outfield from left to right.
Jun 23 2021Taylor went 3-for-5 with a double and a run in Tuesday's loss to the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The utility man started the game at shortstop before shifting to center field when Mookie Betts (illness) departed in the sixth inning. Taylor collected three of the Dodgers' eight hits in the contest -- including their only double -- and scored on a double-play groundout in the eighth inning. He has two multi-hit efforts in his past three games.
Jun 21 2021Taylor went 2-for-6 with two runs and a stolen base in Sunday's 9-8 win over the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With Mookie Betts receiving a day off, Taylor took over the leadoff spot and produced a pair of singles. He also scored twice and stole his seventh base of the season. The theft was his first since May 29, and the multi-hit effort was his first since June 11. Taylor is slashing .266/.386/.464 overall this season.
Jun 20 2021Taylor went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 9-3 win over Arizona. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: On the fifth anniversary of the career-altering trade that brought Taylor to the Dodgers from Seattle in exchange for Zach Lee, the utility man produced an eighth-inning two-run homer that pushed Los Angeles' lead to nine runs. Taylor's versatility has brought tremendous value to the club this season, and he has been one of the team's best offensive players with a .264/.387/.468 slash line, 10 homers, 37 RBI and six stolen bases.
Jun 15 2021Taylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-1 win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor took Spencer Howard deep to lead off the fifth inning and give the Dodgers a 3-1 cushion. The 30-year-old is slashing .275/.389/.475 -- good for a career-high .864 OPS -- with nine home runs, 35 RBI, 48 runs scored and six stolen bases. He also owns a 32:60 BB:K, as he's taking walks at the highest rate of his career while striking out at one of the lowest rates of his career. The utility man should continue to see regular playing time, particularly if Cody Bellinger (hamstring) has to go on the injured list again.
Jun 10 2021Taylor is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor's streak of nine consecutive starts will come to an end while he heads to the bench for the first time since May 29. The versatile 30-year-old has settled into a regular role at the keystone of late, but he'll cede second base to Zach McKinstry in the series finale at Pittsburgh.
Jun 8 2021Taylor went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Tuesday's win over the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor took Chris Stratton deep in the sixth inning to tack on a pair of insurance runs for the Dodgers. The 30-year-old has tallied eight long balls this season while batting a team-leading .274 average as he continues to make his case for a first-time All-Star Game appearance.
Jun 5 2021Taylor went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run scored and three RBI in Friday's 9-5 win over Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Remarkably, the Dodgers produced that offense on only four hits thanks to eight free passes from Atlanta pitching, with Taylor's bases-loaded two-bagger being the biggest blow in an eight-run fifth inning. The 30-year-old got the start at second base with Cody Bellinger back in the lineup in center field, but Taylor should remain a fixture in the lineup somewhere on the diamond as long as he maintains something close to his current career-high .405 OBP and .888 OPS.
Jun 1 2021Taylor went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, four RBI and two runs scored in Monday's win over the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor entered this game on a poor stretch, having mustered just two hits over his previous five appearances (2-for-16) but bounced back here with one of his best performances of the campaign. The 30-year-old also ended an eight-game drought without a homer and now has seven on the season, meaning he's just one bomb away from tying his total from 2020's shortened campaign.
May 21 2021Taylor went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 2-1 win over San Francisco. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor shifted over to left field in the contest and was responsible for the Dodgers' only runs of the night, belting a two-run homer to center field in the third inning. In addition to providing valuable defensive versatility once again this season, Taylor has been one of the team's best offensive players. He is slashing .288/.420/.508 with six homers, 20 RBI and five stolen bases through 40 games.
May 19 2021Taylor went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in a 9-1 win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor hadn't started for the Dodgers since Saturday as he nursed a wrist injury, but he looked none the worse for wear in his return to the starting nine Tuesday. The utilityman got his first start of the season at third base and slugged a two-run homer in the fifth inning to give Los Angeles a two-run lead that they did not relinquish. Taylor has been one of the most consistent hitters for the team this season, slashing .295/.430/.508 with five home runs, five stolen bases and 18 RBI.
May 18 2021Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Taylor (wrist) will start at third base in Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor had been limited to a bench role the past two games due to a sore right wrist, but he looks like he'll avoid becoming the latest player to join the ever-expanding Los Angeles injured list. Due in part to Cody Bellinger (lower leg), Corey Seager (hand) and AJ Pollock (hamstring) all missing time because of injuries, Taylor has often benefited from favorable positioning in the batting order, which has helped him pile up counting stats. He enters play Tuesday tied for fourth in the majors in runs scored (32), while his five stolen bases place him in the top 25.
May 17 2021Taylor (wrist) isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks but will be available off the bench if needed, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor is battling wrist soreness, but it doesn't appear as though he'll miss serious time. He'll continue to be considered day-to-day moving forward, per Stephen.
May 16 2021Taylor is sitting Sunday against the Marlins with right wrist soreness, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 30-year-old was originally in the lineup for Sunday's contest, but he sustained a wrist injury while taking swings prior to the game, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Taylor should be considered day-to-day while Sheldon Neuse starts at second base for the Dodgers.
May 12 2021Taylor went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs and a stolen base in Tuesday's 6-4 win over Seattle. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor started in center field for Los Angeles and scored a run in each of the seventh and eighth innings to help the team to a win. The three-hit game was his second of the campaign and extended his hitting streak to five games. Over that stretch, Taylor is batting .421 (8-for-19) with four walks, five runs and a pair of steals.
May 8 2021Taylor went 1-for-4 with two runs, two walks and two strikeouts in Saturday's 14-11 win over the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor reached base in the fourth, fifth and ninth innings and stole his fourth base of the season in the win. Currently, he's on pace for his second 15-15 season as a dual-threat utility man.
May 2 2021Taylor went 3-for-3 with a walk, two hit-by-pitches and five runs scored in Sunday's 16-4 win over Milwaukee. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor did a good job of setting the table from the No. 5 spot in the order. He got aboard in all six of his plate appearances, and he only failed to score in the ninth inning. Taylor has a .274/.413/.512 slash line with four home runs, three stolen bases, 13 RBI and 24 runs scores across 104 plate appearances this season.
May 1 2021Taylor isn't starting Saturday against the Brewers, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor had gone 2-for-10 with a triple, three runs, an RBI and two walks in the last three games. Mookie Betts will shift to center field while Matt Beaty gets the nod in right.
Apr 25 2021Taylor went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and a walk in the 8-7 loss Sunday to the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After sitting the last two games for back tightness, Taylor slammed a three-run home run off Nick Ramirez in the sixth inning. The 30-year-old hasn't done much in the past week prior to Sunday besides picking up a pair of stolen bases. He is slashing .246/.387/.525 with four home runs, 12 RBI and 14 runs scored in 18 games this season.
Apr 24 2021Taylor (back) will sit again Saturday against the Padres but may be able to return to the lineup Sunday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor was scratched from the lineup for Thursday's season opener due to lower-back tightness and remained on the bench Friday, but it doesn't sound as though he's in line for an extended absence. He owns a solid .817 OPS through 67 plate appearances this season, but the Dodgers have plenty of quality depth options to use in his place.
Apr 23 2021Taylor (back) isn't starting Friday's game against the Padres, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor will be out of the lineup for a second straight game as he deals with lower-back tightness. Max Muncy will shift to second base while Edwin Rios starts at first base Friday.
Apr 22 2021Taylor was scratched from Thursday's lineup with lower back tightness, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: There's no word on the seriousness of the injury, though Taylor will be forced to miss at least one game. Sheldon Neuse will take over at second base and bat seventh in Taylor's absence.
Apr 21 2021Taylor went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over Seattle. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Though he has gone a collective 0-for-5 over his past two games, Taylor has worked a pair of walks and converted those into two steals. The utility man's fantasy value is largely tied to his moderate power and production potential in a loaded Dodgers lineup, but his appeal will certainly increase if he continues to make waves on the basepaths.
Apr 20 2021Taylor went 0-for-2 with a stolen base, a walk and a hit by pitch in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Mariners. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor walked to begin the fourth inning and wound up stealing second for his first stolen base of the season. The 30-year-old has topped 10 steals in a season just once in the first seven seasons of his career, so fantasy managers should keep expectations now for that part of his game. However, he's sitting on a solid .235/.381/.471 batting line, and after finishing with an OPS between .775 and .850 in each of the last four seasons, he should be expected to land around that level again this year.
Apr 18 2021Taylor went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 5-2 loss against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor started in center field where he's received most of his starts. His third homer of the season came off Blake Snell in the second inning, marking the only runs scored by the Dodgers Sunday. Taylor is striking out 30.2% of the time, but is still batting .245, which is enough to score 13 runs on the season for the Dodgers.
Apr 14 2021Taylor went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's victory over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The utility man played center field for the sixth time this season and hit out of the three spot. He followed a Corey Seager home run in the first inning with one of his own and also singled in the fourth. Taylor has gone 4-for-13 with a pair of homers and four RBI over his past three games.
Apr 11 2021Taylor went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 9-5 victory over Washington. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With both Mookie Betts (back) and Cody Bellinger (calf) still out of commission, Taylor manned center field and assumed the leadoff spot in the order for the third straight contest. The utility player did his best impression of his former-MVP teammates, ripping a three-run home run off Patrick Corbin in the second inning to help Los Angeles jump out to a big early lead. Taylor is once again proving invaluable to the club, slashing .273/.484/.500 with five RBI while logging time at four different positions in the early going.
Apr 8 2021Taylor went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Oakland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The utility player led off in the absence of Mookie Betts (back) and raised his average to .357 in 14 at-bats this season. His team's unrivaled depth will prevent Taylor from being an everyday player, but the career .264 hitter is a reliable option when starting and should see plenty of hittable pitches as opponents try to navigate through the star-studded Dodgers lineup.
Apr 7 2021Taylor (elbow) is back in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Oakland, starting in center field and batting leadoff. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor was withheld from Tuesday's 5-1 win over Oakland after exiting a day earlier when he was hit in the left elbow by a pitch, but the game off was apparently all he needed to overcome the issue. He'll be getting a look atop the lineup Wednesday with Mookie Betts resting, but Taylor will likely slot in the bottom half of the order in games when Los Angeles has all of its key regulars available.
Apr 6 2021Taylor (elbow) is not in Tuesday's lineup against the A's, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He was hit on the elbow by a 96-mph fastball Monday, and while X-rays were negative, the Dodgers can afford to give Taylor the day off. AJ Pollock will start in left field while Gavin Lux gets the start at the keystone.
Apr 5 2021Taylor left Monday's game against Oakland due to a left elbow contusion, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This is positive news for Taylor, who left the matchup after being hit on the elbow by a 96 mph fastball. He'll likely undergo further evaluation Tuesday to determine his status for the second matchup of the series.
Apr 4 2021Taylor will start in center field and bat sixth Sunday against the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This marks Taylor's third start of the campaign, each at a different position -- he previously logged starts in right field and left field. The veteran's versatility allows him to play on a near-everyday basis despite not being the team's first option at any given position. Taylor has two hits -- including a double -- and an RBI along with two walks over 10 plate appearances this season.
Apr 2 2021Taylor will sit Friday against the Rockies, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor may not be the Dodgers' primary starter at any one position this year, but he should still find himself in the lineup on a regular basis, primarily at second base and in left field. He started in left field at AJ Pollock's expense on Opening Day but will retreat to the bench for the second game of the season, while Gavin Lux makes his second straight start at the keystone.
Mar 4 2021Taylor said Thursday that he may play more often at second base this season with the departure of Enrique Hernandez, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor tallied 13 games at second base last season, making it his third-most played position behind shortstop (20 games) and left field (19 games). Hernandez, by contrast, collected 30 games at second base in 2020, so those appearances will need to be absorbed by other players with Hernandez now in Boston. Taylor figures to be in the mix to see ample time there, though Gavin Lux -- who is considered the Dodgers' second baseman of the future -- has been mentioned as a potential everyday starter this season, per Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times.
Mar 3 2021Taylor (neck) is starting Wednesday's spring game against the Reds, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor was slowed by a stiff neck to begin spring training, but he'll lead off during his Cactus League debut Wednesday. The 30-year-old will have just under a month to prepare for Opening Day.
Mar 1 2021Taylor is dealing with a stiff neck and will be unavailable for a few days, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This appears to be more of a case of early-spring caution than any particularly serious injury. If the issue does wind up worse than initially feared and lingers into the regular season, the Dodgers have a deep enough roster to cover for Taylor if he's forced to miss time.
Feb 24 2021Taylor is likely to see some time at third base this season, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Third base was one of a few positions Taylor didn't play last season, when he logged time at second, shortstop, left field and center field. He's expected to see time at all those spots again in 2021 while adding the hot corner to the mix. Justin Turner is set to be LA's everyday third baseman once again, but he's likely to rest often enough for Taylor to get an occasional chance to fill in at the position.
Oct 21 2020Taylor went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer Wednesday in a loss to the Rays in Game 2 of the World Series. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning off Blake Snell. The 30-year-old utility player recorded the first two runs for the Dodgers and was the only player to inflict damage on Blake Snell all night. The home run was Taylor's first of the postseason as he slugged eight during the regular season.
Oct 18 2020Taylor (ankle) will start at second base and will bat ninth Sunday in Game 7 of the Dodgers' NLCS matchup with the Braves, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After injuring his right ankle in Game 5, Taylor sat out Saturday in the Dodgers' 3-1 win in Game 6. With a trip to the World Series on the line, Taylor will be able to play through the injury as manager Dave Roberts puts his best lineup out there. Taylor is batting 5-for-31 with two doubles and four walks during the postseason.
Oct 17 2020Taylor (ankle) is not in the lineup for Game 6 of the NLCS against Atlanta on Saturday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor injured his right ankle on a defensive play in the eighth inning of Game 5. He remained in the game to close out the inning but was removed for a pinch hitter in the ninth. The injury is evidently severe enough that he'll sit for at least one game, though he's expected to be available off the bench, per Eric Stephen of SBNation.com.
Oct 16 2020Taylor left Friday's NLCS Game 5 matchup against Atlanta after appearing to injure his ankle, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor appeared to hurt his right ankle while attempting to make a diving catch in the bottom of the eighth. He remained in the game after being checked out by team trainers but was pulled for a pinch hitter when his spot came up in the next inning. The fact that he wasn't immediately removed suggests he could have a shot to play in Game 6 on Saturday.
Oct 15 2020Taylor isn't in Thursday's lineup for Game 4 of the NLCS against Atlanta, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor will take a seat for the first time in these playoffs after going 1-for-11 with two walks, one run and six strikeouts to begin the NLCS. Enrique Hernandez will start at second base during Game 4.
Sep 25 2020Taylor is not in the lineup Friday against the Angels, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor sits after starting 15 of the last 16 games, appearing at five different positions. Enrique Hernandez starts at second base in this one, Taylor's most frequent spot recently.
Sep 22 2020Taylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win versus Oakland on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor launched one of four homers by the Dodgers in the win, going deep to left field in the fourth inning. The 30-year-old has enjoyed a strong September, hitting .328 with six home runs, 22 RBI and 15 runs over 67 at-bats.
Sep 20 2020Taylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: According to Ken Gurnick of MLB.com, manager Dave Roberts said that Taylor and Mookie Betts will take a seat in the series finale in what amounts to maintenance days for both players. Taylor's move to the bench will leave the keystone open for Gavin Lux.
Sep 19 2020Taylor went 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple, a walk and three RBI in Saturday's win over Colorado. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor helped the Dodgers get off to a quick start in the first inning with a two-run triple, then launched a 446-foot solo homer to center field in the fourth. The three-RBI performance was the second for Taylor in as many days, while the long ball was his fifth in September. Taylor is locked into a starting role with a .283/.380/.494 slash line, seven homers and 30 RBI overall this season.
Sep 16 2020Taylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-5 win over San Diego. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor extended the Dodgers' lead to 7-1 with his solo shot off Garrett Richards in the sixth. It marked the utility man's sixth long ball and 24th RBI on the campaign. He will take a solid .277/.371/.465 slash line into the series against the Rockies.
Sep 13 2020Taylor went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's 8-1 win over the Astros. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor doubled in the fifth inning and came around to score on an Enrique Hernandez single. In the eighth, Taylor provided the Dodgers some insurance with his three-run blast. The 30-year-old has homered three times in his last six games. He's gone yard five times this year, racking up 23 RBI, 26 runs scored and three stolen bases in 44 contests.
Sep 12 2020Taylor went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's loss to the Astros. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor staked the Dodgers to a lead in the second inning with a two-run shot to right field. The utilityman has enjoyed a productive September, going 11-for-35 (.314) with a pair of homers and 11 RBI over nine games.
Sep 6 2020Taylor went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor put the Dodgers ahead 6-5 in the sixth inning with his third homer of the year. The 30-year-old is slashing .262/.366/.410 with 20 runs scored, 16 RBI and three stolen bases through 39 games this season.
Sep 1 2020Taylor went 2-for-4 with four RBI, a run scored, two doubles and a walk in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor got the Dodgers on the board by drawing a bases-loaded walk in the first inning. He added an RBI double in the third inning and a two-run double in the sixth. The 30-year-old is slashing .259/.370/.389 with two homers, 13 RBI, 16 runs scored and three stolen bases through 35 games. Taylor's defensive versatility keeps him in the lineup more often than not -- he'll likely battle with Gavin Lux and Edwin Rios for starts at second or third base, respectively. Taylor started in center field Tuesday in place of Cody Bellinger (lat).
Aug 29 2020Taylor isn't in Saturday's lineup against the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor will take a seat as he could see a slight decrease in playing time since Gavin Lux was called up Saturday. Max Muncy will shift to third base with Matt Beaty starting at first base.
Aug 27 2020Taylor is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor, who started Game 1 and went 1-for-4 with a run scored, will give way to prospect Gavin Lux at the keystone for the second half of Thursday's twin bill.
Aug 25 2020Taylor is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor started the past six contests and will take a seat after going 4-for-18 with a home run, a double, three runs and five walks. Enrique Hernandez will start at the keystone Tuesday for the Dodgers.
Aug 22 2020Taylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor extended the Dodgers' lead to 2-0 with his second-inning solo shot. In the seventh, Taylor helped create the tying run, as he grounded into a bases-loaded double play that allowed Justin Turner to score. The 29-year-old Taylor is slashing .267/.376/.407 with two homers, nine RBI 13 runs scored and a pair of stolen bases in 28 games.
Aug 17 2020Taylor isn't starting Monday's game against the Mariners. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor had drawn seven consecutive starts, but he'll take a seat after going 2-for-12 with a double and six strikeouts over the past three games. Max Muncy will shift to the keystone with Matt Beaty taking over at first base.
Aug 16 2020Taylor will start at shortstop and bat fifth Sunday against the Angels, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: In the lineup for the seventh game in a row, Taylor has seemingly overtaken the slumping Enrique Hernandez as the Dodgers' top super-utilityman. Taylor has been quite productive through the Dodgers' first 14 games of August, slashing .310/.383/.500 with a home run, a stolen base, 10 runs and six RBI. Expect him to continue seeing regular work while he's swinging a hot bat.
Aug 13 2020Taylor went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored in a win over San Diego on Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor didn't hit any of the Dodgers' six long balls in the rout, but he led the team with three hits on the night, coming around to score after each base knock. The 29-year-old has gone 6-for-11 over his last three games.
Aug 9 2020Taylor is not in the lineup Sunday against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor started five of the past six games and went 4-for-19 with three runs and two RBI in that stretch, but he'll take a seat for the series finale. Enrique Hernandez will start at shortstop in place of Corey Seager (back), while Max Muncy works at second base.
Aug 1 2020Taylor went 1-for-1 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 11-2 win over the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor came in as a defensive replacement for Corey Seager in the sixth inning. Taylor's lone at-bat came in the eighth, and he made it count, providing the Dodgers' final three runs of the night with his first long ball of the year. The utility man doesn't have a single defined role in 2020, but he's hitting a respectable .269/.424/.385 with five RBI in nine games. It's his dual abilities to get on base and cover multiple positions that will keep him in the lineup.
Jul 25 2020Taylor went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and a walk in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor wasn't able to score despite getting on base three times in the contest. The 29-year-old utility man has gone 4-for-8 with two walks and an RBI in three games so far this season. His defensive versatility will keep him in the lineup frequently, and he can also serve as the designated hitter as he did Saturday.
Jul 21 2020Taylor's path to playing time at second base has expanded after the Dodgers optioned Gavin Lux to their alternate training site Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Lux, a popular preseason pick to win the NL Rookie of the Year award this season, arrived late to camp and has struggled with the bat and glove since his return, so the team decided not to carry him on its Opening Day roster. That opens up more playing time for both Taylor and Enrique Hernandez, though the pair will probably assume a share of the starting second-base job rather than one player winning the job outright. Taylor has enjoyed a strong spring training and summer camp, and he went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, a walk, two runs and four RBI in Monday's exhibition game against Arizona.
Mar 27 2020Taylor is among a group of Dodgers vying for playing time at second base this season, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Though many expected top prospect Gavin Lux to claim second base as his own in 2020, Gurnick indicates that the position had yet to be settled when spring training was suspended. Among veterans on the club, Taylor (20) trailed both Enrique Hernandez (85) and Max Muncy (70) in games played at second base last season. Nonetheless, Taylor's defensive versatility enabled him to log 414 plate appearances without having a set position.
Mar 7 2020Taylor (shoulder) is starting at shortstop and hitting cleanup Saturday against the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He missed the last few games with a sore shoulder, but it was apparently a minor issue. Taylor is poised to reprise his utility role from last season.
Mar 6 2020Taylor (shoulder) won't return to Cactus League action Friday against the Mariners, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports., ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Dave Roberts indicated earlier this week Taylor could return for Friday's game, but he's not ready to retake the field. The 29-year-old has been taking batting practice but wants be sure he's fully recovered before attempting to play in games.
Mar 5 2020Manager Dave Roberts said Taylor (shoulder) might return Friday against the Mariners, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor is nursing a sore shoulder, which he picked up after getting hit by a pitch earlier in camp. Even if he doesn't play in Friday's Cactus League game, it sounds like Taylor is on the cusp of a return. Once healthy, he figures to fill a super-utility role for the Dodgers.
Mar 4 2020Manager Dave Roberts said Taylor is dealing with a sore shoulder, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was originally thought that Taylor suffered a setback in his recovery from a sore right forearm, which slowed him earlier in camp, but it turns out the issue is actually related to his shoulder. Regardless of the injury, Taylor said he isn't planning on returning to game action until he's feeling 100 percent. Once healthy, he's expected to fill a super-utility role for the Dodgers.
Feb 27 2020Taylor (forearm) will bat leadoff and start in left field during Thursday's Cactus League game against the Indians, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor didn't appear in any of the Dodgers' past three spring games after irritating his forearm/biceps on a check swing during the Sunday's 4-2 win over the Cubs. The utility man looks to be healthy again after a few days off and shouldn't have his preparation for the regular season derailed because of the injury.
Feb 26 2020Taylor is nursing an irritated forearm and biceps, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The injury was suffered as a result of a check swing, and Taylor has missed three straight spring-training games as a result. However, he took live batting practice Wednesday and could return to game action Thursday. Taylor will fill a utility role with the Dodgers again this season.
Feb 7 2020Taylor and the Dodgers avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year deal Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor will make $13.4 million over the two seasons, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. The deal doesn't buy out any of Taylor's free-agent seasons but saves the two parties from having to go through the arbitration process next season. Taylor lines up to play frequently in a flexible role again this season after hitting .262/.333/.462 in 414 plate appearances in 2019.
Oct 3 2019Taylor is starting in right field in Game 1 of the National League Division Series on Thursday, batting fifth.
Oct 3 2019Taylor is starting in right field in Game 1 of the National League Division Series on Thursday, batting fifth. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor will receive the start in right field for the first game of the NLDS against southpaw Patrick Corbin. Joc Pederson is on the bench Thursday.
Oct 2 2019Taylor will be in the lineup for Game 1 of the NLDS against the Nationals on Thursday, Alanna Rizzo of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.
Oct 2 2019Taylor will be in the lineup for Game 1 of the NLDS against the Nationals on Thursday, Alanna Rizzo of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor will receive the starting nod with southpaw Patrick Corbin taking the mound for Washington, though it's not official which position he'll play. The utility man had a .262/.333/462 slash line with 12 home runs and eight stolen bases in 124 games.
Sep 26 2019Taylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a victory over San Diego on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor got the start in left field and slugged a solo homer to right field in his first at-bat. The long ball snapped a 16-game homerless streak during which Taylor hit a meek .167 in 42 at-bats. Overall, the 29-year-old is slashing .258/.326/.452 with 12 home runs and 52 RBI in 398 plate appearances this season.
Sep 22 2019Taylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor had started in each of the past five games, with three of those turns coming at the hot corner. With Justin Turner (ankle) back in the lineup at third base for the second straight day after being sidelined for nearly two weeks, Taylor's path to everyday at-bats now looks somewhat muddled. The versatile utility man should at least continue to see steady work versus left-handed starting pitching.
Sep 13 2019Taylor went 1-for-2 with a double, two RBI and a run scored Friday night against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor didn't draw the start, but he drove home a pair of runs in the seventh inning to put the Dodgers up 6-1. The 29-year-old utility man was just 1-for-16 over his last six games entering the series opener, so Friday's performance was a step in the right direction.
Sep 4 2019Taylor did not play Tuesday due to lingering discomfort after fouling a ball off his left foot Monday, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue1958 reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor stayed in the game after fouling a ball off his foot Monday but was sore enough to warrant a spot on the bench Tuesday. He was reportedly available to pinch hit, however, suggesting that the injury is minor. Taylor is hitting .270 with 11 home runs, 47 RBI and seven steals in 103 games this season.
Sep 4 2019Taylor (foot) is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Taylor was held out Tuesday after fouling a ball off his foot in Monday's contest, but that will be the extent of his absence for now. Taylor will start in left field and hit eighth in the Dodgers' batting order Wednesday night.
Sep 2 2019Taylor went 3-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs in the Dodgers' 16-9 win over the Rockies on Monday.
Aug 20 2019Taylor went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run, three runs scored, four RBI and a walk in the Dodgers' 16-3 rout of the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
Aug 18 2019Taylor (forearm) is expected to be reinstated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Aug 16 2019Manager Dave Roberts is optimistic that Taylor (forearm) will be cleared to return by the middle of next week, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Aug 15 2019Taylor is playing shortstop and batting second for High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Thursday.
Aug 14 2019Manager Dave Roberts said Taylor (forearm) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment over the weekend, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Aug 11 2019Taylor (forearm) is expected to go on a rehab assignment next week, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Aug 4 2019Taylor (forearm) may be ready to begin a minor-league rehab assignment as soon as next weekend, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Jul 25 2018Taylor is out of the starting nine versus the Phillies on Wednesday.Taylor will receive a breather after starting the past five games coming out of the All-Star break, including Tuesday's 16-inning contest, during which he went 1-for-7 with one double and four strikeouts. Alex Verdugo will start in center field in his place.
Jul 23 2018Taylor led off and went 1-for-4 with a trio of RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 11-2 win over Milwaukee.Taylor has been able to maintain his everyday status by moving to the outfield following Manny Machado's arrival to begin the second half of the season. Yasiel Puig's (oblique) impending return will crowd the Dodgers' outfield, but Justin Turner's (groin) expected placement on the disabled list should allow Taylor to continue to see regular starts on the infield depending on whether Machado (shortstop) or Max Muncy (second base) slides over to third.
Jul 21 2018Taylor went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Brewers. His two-run single in the first inning gave Clayton Kershaw an early lead, but the Dodgers' defense helped sabotage the ace's ability to protect it. Taylor's now hitting .290 (18-for-62) over his last 15 games with two homers and 14 RBI, pushing his slash line on the year up to .255/.332/.454.
Jul 20 2018Taylor went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in Friday's win over the Brewers.Taylor plated a run in the seventh inning to break a 1-1 tie, delivering his 42nd RBI of the season. He's batting .279 through 15 games to start the month of July, although his playing time figures to take a hit after the recent acquisition of Manny Machado. Taylor will shift gears and serve as the Dodgers' super-utility man during the second half of the year.
Jul 19 2018With Manny Machado expected to take over as the Dodgers' primary shortstop, Taylor will revert to a super-utility role, seeing starts at shortstop, second base and all over the outfield, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. The Dodgers' huge acquisition over the All-Star break will affect Taylor's status as an everyday player. That said, the 27-year-old's ability to play all over the field should keep him in the lineup more often than not. Taylor figures to see most of his starts against righties somewhere in the outfield, while filling in for Max Muncy at the keystone against southpaws. The Dodgers announced that Machado will also play at the hot corner -- after primarily playing short with the Orioles -- allowing Taylor to spell him at short on days where Justin Turner gets rested.
Jul 15 2018Taylor went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's extra-inning loss to the Angels.Taylor led off, as he usually does against southpaws, cranking his 11th long ball of the season. The 27-year-old has been asked to fill multiple roles both on defense and in the batting order this season, resulting in solid counting stats (54 runs and 41 RBI) regardless of what position fantasy owners decide to deploy him.
Jul 10 2018Taylor went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's win over the Padres.Taylor tallied just his fourth steal in nine attempts this season, the lone aspect of his game that hasn't materialized following his breakout 2017 campaign. The 27-year-old's aggresive approach at the plate (27.3 strikeout percentage) will result in the occasional slump, but he is doing enough across the standard offensive fantasy categories to remain relevant at the shortstop position.
Jul 5 2018Taylor went 2-for-3 with a trio of RBI in a win over the Pirates on Wednesday.Taylor fell a single short of the cycle Tuesday, but he made up for his "shortcoming" by tallying two base hits Wednesday. The shortstop has adapted well to his placement lower in the order, knocking in seven runs over his last three contests.
Jul 4 2018Taylor went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, a home run, two RBI and a pair of runs scored in Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Pirates.Taylor provided the third consecutive near-cycle for the Dodgers, needing just a single to have completed the feat. The 27-year-old is beginning to look like the breakout player we witnessed in 2017, slashing .260/.342/.474 with 10 homers after struggling at the beginning of the year. His success on the basepaths is the last category trailing behind last year's marks, as he owns just three steals in eight attempts. Taylor has ceded leadoff duties to Joc Pederson against righties, but he continues to start atop the order against southpaws.
Jun 30 2018Taylor is not in the lineup Saturday against the Rockies.Taylor is hitting a solid .280 with an .860 OPS in the month of June. Enrique Hernandez will start at shortstop in his place Saturday.
Jun 28 2018Taylor (hamstring) is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff Thursday against the Cubs.Taylor was held out of the lineup the last five games with the hamstring issue but did appear as a pinch hitter each game, going 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and three RBI. The 27-year-old has a .255/.340/.461 slash line with nine home runs over 77 games this season, and makes his return against Cubs' left-hander Jose Quintana.
Jun 27 2018Taylor (hamstring) is expected to enter the Dodgers' lineup Thursday against the Cubs, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. He has been out of the lineup for the last five games, but has gone 3-for-4 with a home run as a pinch hitter over that stretch entering play Wednesday. Enrique Hernandez has been red hot during Taylor's absence, which could add another layer of unpredictability to the Dodgers' lineup on a game-to-game basis once Taylor returns. That said, Taylor ranks third among Dodgers position players (behind Max Muncy and Cody Bellinger) in fWAR (1.8), so when Hernandez starts, it typically won't come at Taylor's expense.
Jun 27 2018Taylor (hamstring) is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Cubs.Taylor has gone 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI while pinch hitting in four straight games while dealing with the hamstring injury, so there's nothing wrong with him at the plate, he just isn't ready to play the field or spend a lot of time on the bases. Enrique Hernandez will start at shortstop and hit fifth. Look for Taylor to once again get a pinch-hit opportunity if it makes sense Wednesday.
Jun 26 2018Taylor (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs, according to Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com.Taylor delivered a pinch-hit, go-ahead home run in the eighth inning of Monday's game, but he is still not ready for a full nine innings apparently, so he will come off the bench again Tuesday night.
Jun 26 2018Taylor (hamstring) came off the bench and went 1-for-1 with a solo home run in Monday's 2-1 win over the Cubs.Taylor was limited to pinch-hitting duties for the third consecutive game since his hamstring flared up last Wednesday. The 27-year-old has gone 2-for-3 with a double, a homer and two RBI over that span. Taylor ran the bases and fielded grounders prior to Monday's contest, but manager Dave Roberts said that his shortstop may not be ready to return to starting duties Tuesday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. Enrique Hernandez will continue to start at short until Taylor's hamstring fully heals.
Jun 25 2018Taylor (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.Taylor will miss a fourth straight game because of his hamstring injury, and Enrique Hernandez will make another start at shortstop in his place. Taylor remains day-to-day, so he should have a chance to get back in there Tuesday.
Jun 24 2018Taylor (hamstring) remains out of the lineup Sunday against the Mets, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.Taylor said his hamstring felt better Saturday but he remains out of the lineup. He's still considered day-to-day. Enrique Hernandez will make his third straight start at shortstop.
Jun 23 2018Taylor said his injured left hamstring felt a lot better Saturday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.Taylor does not expect to need time on the disabled list. He missed his second consecutive start due to the issue Saturday but will be available to pinch hit if necessary.
Jun 23 2018Taylor (hamstring) is out of the lineup against the Mets on Saturday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.Taylor will remain on the bench for a second straight game as he continues to recover from left hamstring tightness. In his place, Enrique Hernandez will start at shortstop and bat seventh.
Jun 22 2018Taylor (hamstring) is not in the lineup against the Mets on Friday, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reportsTaylor will get another day of rest after exiting Wednesday's game with left hamstring tightness. Though the 27-year-old said he would be in the lineup for the series opener in New York, manager Dave Roberts elected not to rush him back into action even with Thursday's off day. Enrique Hernandez will start at shortstop in his place. Consider him day-to-day ahead of Saturday's game.
Jun 20 2018Taylor (hamstring) said that he expects to be healthy enough to play this weekend against the Mets, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.Taylor was forced to leave Wednesday's contest against the Cubs due to left hamstring tightness in the sixth inning. Fortunately, Taylor will receive a little time to rest with a scheduled day off for the Dodgers on Thursday before the team heads to New York. Expect an update on his status Friday afternoon.
Jun 20 2018Taylor left Wednesday's game against the Cubs with left hamstring tightness, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. It seemed like his removal may have been related to Taylor getting hit on the left ankle by a pitch in the first inning, but he likely tweaked his hamstring on a different play. The Dodgers have an off day Thursday, but it is unclear if Taylor will be ready to return for the weekend series against the Mets. Enrique Hernandez is next in line to get starts at shortstop if Taylor misses more time.
Jun 20 2018Taylor left Wednesday's game against the Cubs in the sixth inning, likely due to the fact he fouled a pitch off his left ankle earlier in the game, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports. He stayed in for five frames after fouling a pitch off his left ankle in the first inning, so it doesn't seem particularly serious, although he may have been in some pain. Cody Bellinger came in to play center field with Enrique Hernandez moving in to play shortstop. Taylor's status will be updated when the team comments on the nature of the injury.
Jun 17 2018Taylor is out of the lineup Sunday against the Giants, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.Taylor will yield a start at shortstop to Enrique Hernandez, who has caught fire at the plate with three home runs in five games. It's not expected that Taylor is any major danger of losing out on regular at-bats, despite going only 6-for-35 at the plate over his past nine contests.
Jun 13 2018Taylor went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 12-5 win over the Rangers. It was Taylor's first extra-base hit and RBI since June 2. His .253 batting average may never sniff the .288 mark he posted last season due to his free-swinging ways (24.1 strikeout percentage), but his on-base skills (.341) and power production (.198 isolated power) are on par with last year's breakout totals.
Jun 8 2018Taylor is out of Friday's lineup against the Braves. He has started the last six games, going 8-for-23 (.348 AVG) with one home run and one stolen base over that stretch. Enrique Hernandez will get the start at shortstop, hitting seventh against righty Brandon McCarthy.
Jun 2 2018Taylor went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs in Friday's win over the Rockies.Taylor got a sacrifice fly in the fourth, and then came through with a three-run homer -- his eighth of the year -- off reliever Brooks Pounders in the sixth. Taylor is slashing .245/.328/.459 with 26 extra-base hits and 24 RBI, while his 39 runs scored rank within the top five in the NL.
May 31 2018Taylor is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Phillies.Taylor will head to the bench for Thursday's series finale after starting the previous nine games at shortstop, hitting a solid .241/.405/.552 with two homers and a 6:9 BB:K over that stretch. Enrique Hernandez will start at shortstop and hit eighth in his stead.
May 30 2018Taylor batted fifth and went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Phillies. After regaining his leadoff spot with a sustained hot streak, Taylor has ceded that role to Joc Pederson and Max Muncy over the last two contests. His demotion in the order doesn't seem to be a punishment; instead, it could be an effort to get his bat in a position to drive in runs. The project hasn't worked out, as the 27-year-old has gone 1-for-8 with six strikeouts in those two games since the lineup shuffle.
May 27 2018Taylor went 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of runs in the Dodgers' 6-1 victory over the Padres on Sunday.A day after launching his seventh home run of the season, Taylor kept his hot hitting going with a second-straight multi-hit effort that boosted his slash line to .248/.338/.450. The 27-year-old got off to a brutally slow start to the season, but his recent surge has his OPS up to .788 through 202 at-bats, so he'll look to keep pumping that back up toward the .850 mark he posted in his breakout campaign of least season going forward.
May 27 2018Taylor went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run in a loss to the Padres on Saturday.Taylor has really turned things on over his last 10 contests, batting .290 with four extra-base hits while reclaiming his spot atop the Dodgers' lineup. The 27-year-old may not be able to reach last year's .288 batting average (which was buoyed by a .361 BABIP), but his power (.201 isolated power rating) has definitely carried over.
May 23 2018Taylor is starting and shortstop and hitting leadoff Wednesday against the Rockies.Taylor was dropped from the leadoff spot after a slow start to the season, but he quickly earned his way back to the top of the order after hitting .303/.425/.545 in the 10 games following his lineup demotion. He'll look to stay hot at the plate as he faces lefty Kyle Freeland in his return to the leadoff spot.
May 23 2018Taylor went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-3 victory over the Rockies.Taylor's homer sparked a three-run sixth inning that put the Dodgers ahead for good. The 26-year-old's early struggles saw him moved down the order against righties earlier this month, but he has responded with a .303/.425/.545 slash line in 10 games since his lineup demotion.
May 20 2018Taylor is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.Enrique Hernandez will man shortstop and bat eighth against right-hander Stephen Strasburg. Taylor started both games of Saturday's doubleheader, going 1-for-7 with four strikeouts to drop his batting line to .242/.314/.419. He should continue to play close to every day, but it looks like Taylor will be stuck in the bottom half of the batting order until he picks it up at the plate.
May 17 2018Taylor went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in a loss to the Marlins on Wednesday.Taylor's early-season struggles saw him demoted to sixth in the order against righties May 11 (still leading off against southpaws). The super-utility man has responded well with a .333/.400/.500 triple-slash in the five games since his downgrade in the lineup. Taylor's overall .240/.309/.417 slash line still pales in comparison to last year's breakout numbers, but this could be the spark that gets his season back on track.
May 11 2018Taylor was moved down to third in the order Friday against the Reds, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports. He has started 35 of 37 games from the leadoff spot, but is hitting just .229/.299/.408, which is good enough to play every day in this decimated Dodgers lineup, but not good enough to remain atop the order. Chase Utley is leading off against righty Matt Harvey.
May 10 2018Taylor went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks, an RBI, his second stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's win over Arizona.Taylor's batting average has come down to earth (.235) as expected after the free-swinger's .288 average last year was buoyed by a .361 BABIP. That said, the 27-year-old has still been a strong contributor in terms in counting stats, providing 26 runs, five homers, 14 RBI and a pair of steals through 36 games. Taylor's .306 on-base percentage is only bested by Dodger regulars who bat in the heart of the order (Yasmani Grandal, Cody Bellinger and Matt Kemp), so his status as the club's leadoff hitter should remain in tact.
May 4 2018Taylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs as the Dodgers topped the Padres 4-0 on Friday.Taylor helped provide the offense as the Dodgers' pitchers no-hit San Diego, launching his fifth homer of the season in the second inning off Joey Lucchesi. He's still got an underwhelming .232/.282/.428 slash line coming off his breakout campaign last year but he's been hitting better lately, so it's possible that he was just off to a slow start and will continue to heat up as he logs more at-bats.
May 2 2018Taylor is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports.Taylor will head to the bench for what appears to be a rest day after starting 24 consecutive games. The 27-year-old is coming around after his slow start to the season, collecting eight hits over the last five games. Enrique Hernandez will start at shortstop and hit seventh in his stead.
Apr 30 2018Taylor is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff Monday against the Diamondbacks, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.Manager Dave Roberts will turn to Taylor to start at shortstop in the Dodgers' first game without Corey Seager (elbow). With Seager out for the remainder of the season, Taylor is the top candidate to take over as the team's everyday shortstop. Not much should change for the 27-year-old, who is already enjoying everyday reps in centerfield. Taylor is hitting .233/.273/.425 with four homers and a stolen base through 27 games this season.
Apr 28 2018Taylor went 3-for-6 with a walk, a homer, three RBI, two runs and a stolen base -- his first of the season -- in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Giants.Taylor was a big part of an offensive explosion that carried the Dodgers to victory in Game 1 of the twin bill. The three-hit effort raised his batting average to .232, and he now has four homers, 10 RBI, and 18 runs through 25 games this year. It's been a slow start to the season for Taylor, but hopefully Saturday's performance will help him turn things around.
Apr 28 2018Taylor went 3-for-6 with a walk, a homer, three RBI, two runs and a stolen base in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Giants.Taylor was a big part of the Dodgers' offensive explosion that carried the team to victory in Game 1 of the twin bill. The three-hit effort raised his batting average to .232, and he now has four homers, 10 RBI, 18 runs and one stolen base through 25 games this year. It's been a slow start to the season for Taylor, but hopefully Saturday's performance will help him turn things around.
Apr 22 2018Taylor went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored Sunday against the Nationals.Taylor is slowly starting to come around after a sluggish start to the year -- he's raised his batting average to .239 and is slugging .432 with three home runs and eight RBI. His production at the plate figures to increase as he continues to settle in for the 2018 campaign.
Apr 18 2018Taylor went 1-for-5 with a walk and two runs scored Tuesday against the Padres.Taylor has gotten off to an alarmingly poor start, posting a .211 batting average and .240 on-base percentage through 75 plate appearances. Despite his struggles, the Dodgers have stuck with him as their leadoff hitter, keeping his fantasy value inflated with run and stolen base upside.
Apr 15 2018Taylor went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one run scored Sunday in the win over Arizona.Taylor hit his third home run of the season and continues to heat up at the dish. He's batting .230 over his first 14 games of the 2018 campaign, but his numbers figure to go up as he records more at-bats. Fantasy owners shouldn't be concerned about his slow start just yet.
Apr 14 2018Taylor went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and a pair of runs in Friday's 8-7 loss to Arizona. The Dodgers' leadoff man took Zack Greinke deep in his first at-bat of the game. While the team remains in a funk with another loss, Taylor appears to be turning things around with four hits and two homers over his last three contests. The 2017 breakout star is still slashing a disappointing .226/.236/.396 on the year, but he built up enough equity last season to earn fantasy owners' trust for the time being.
Apr 10 2018Taylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, his first of the season, while also leaving five men on base in the Dodgers' 4-0 win over Oakland on Tuesday. After an unexpected breakout campaign last season that saw him hit 21 home runs and put up an .850 OPS, it's been tough sledding to start the year for Taylor, who is slashing just .209/.222/.349 through 43 at-bats. It's still too early to push the panic button on a player who performed so consistently over 514 at-bats last year, but owners who drafted Taylor with the idea that he would replicate last year's production wouldn't be blamed for leaving him out of their lineups until he shows signs of turning things around.
Apr 2 2018Taylor is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.Taylor will head to the bench for a breather after starting the first four games of the season and going 4-for-15 with three runs scored. In his place, Joc Pederson will start in center field and hit leadoff.
Mar 21 2018Manager Dave Roberts stated that Taylor will not move to second base to fill the void left by Justin Turner's wrist injury, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.Roberts was quick to shut down the idea of the former infielder vacating his spot both in center field and atop the Dodgers' lineup to move to second base (with Logan Forsythe moving to third). Taylor started 19 games at the keystone last season, so depending on league settings, he may or may not hold that extra position eligibility, and this news almost assures that he won't regain second base eligibility early in the year (again, assuming he lost it in the first place). The 2017 breakout star is slashing a healthy .308/.440/.538 with a home run and two steals in 49 plate appearances this spring and will open the year as the Dodgers' leadoff hitter.
Feb 21 2018In addition to the outfield, Taylor will receive playing time at shortstop and second base this spring, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.Taylor is set to hold down the starting role in center field for the Dodgers in 2018 but will likely continue to receive time in the middle infield throughout the course of the season. He currently maintains multi-position eligibility after starting double-digit games at shortstop and the keystone last year. Over the course of the 2017 season, Taylor slashed .288/.354/.496 with 21 home runs, 72 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 140 contests.
Sep 30 2017Taylor went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Saturday's 5-3 victory over the Rockies.Taylor has been dealing with a knee contusion lately, which has resulted in him making just one plate appearance over the last three games. He returned to action in full force Saturday as he drove in two runs, bringing his RBI total up to 72 for the year. Taylor has enjoyed a breakout season, having hit .288/.354/.497 and slugging 21 home runs over 139 games. He also proved to be a threat when on base, as he swiped 17 bags in that time.
Sep 30 2017Taylor (knee) is starting in center field and leading off Saturday against the Rockies, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.A knee contusion has cost him time this week, but with a spot atop the order in Coors Field, he should be deployed in all full-season formats. He has not shown any notable platoon splits this season, so even though he faces off against same-handed German Marquez, he also makes for a nice play in daily contests.
Sep 29 2017Taylor (knee) is not in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Rockies, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.Taylor went through agility drills prior to Friday's contest, but manager Dave Roberts elected to give him another day off, even though the 27-year-old stated that his knee "felt good" following the running session. He will likely be back in the lineup Saturday, and it appears as though there shouldn't be cause for any real concern moving forward.
Sep 28 2017Taylor (knee contusion) is expected to be in the lineup Friday in Colorado, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports. He left Wednesday's game after he slipped on first base while beating out a groundball, suffering a left knee contusion. Taylor iced his knee after the game and both he and manager Dave Roberts expect him back for this weekend's series against the Rockies. Taylor is hitting .287/.354/.498 with 21 home runs. He also leads the Dodgers with 34 doubles and 17 stolen bases.
Sep 27 2017Taylor was lifted from Wednesday's game with a left knee contusion, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.Taylor, who reached base on a throwing error to lead off the game, slipped on first base as he was trying to avoid the Padres' leaping first baseman (Wil Myers). He remained in the game after briefly meeting with trainer Nate Lucero and manager Dave Roberts, but he was lifted after the next batter, Corey Seager, was walked. It's unclear how long Taylor will be sidelined with the issue, if at all. The Dodgers have an off day Thursday, so his status for Friday's game will hopefully become clearer once he's further evaluated.
Sep 27 2017Taylor was removed from Wednesday's game against the Padres with an apparent injury, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.Taylor appeared to roll his ankle on first base after reaching on an error in the first inning. He was checked out by a trainer and was initially allowed to stay in the game, but he was lifted for a pinch runner after the next batter. The Dodgers haven't released any specifics regarding the injury yet, but more should be known after he is reevaluated following Wednesday's game.
Sep 26 2017Taylor is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.Taylor went 1-for-14 over his last four games, so he will get a day to clear his head after starting nine straight games. Cody Bellinger will get the start in center field in Taylor's place.
Sep 19 2017Taylor returned to the starting lineup Monday, going 2-for-3 with a walk and his 20th home run of the season in a 4-3 loss to Philadelphia.Taylor notched No. 20 in style when he scooted around the bases for an inside-the-park homer in his first at-bat of the contest. The breakout star has also stolen 16 bases in addition to his unexpected power output, giving him an outside shot at a 20/20 campaign with 12 games left in the regular season.
Sep 16 2017Taylor is out of Saturday's lineup against the Nationals, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.Taylor has finally cooled off after his ridiculous first five months of the season (.305/.376/.530). He is hitting .214/.241/.304 with one home run and one steal in 56 at-bats in September. Joc Pederson will start in center field and hit eighth against righty A.J. Cole.
Sep 11 2017Taylor is not in the lineup Monday against the Giants, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.Taylor will head to the bench for a breather after starting eight of the last nine games, hitting just .176/.176/.294 in 34 at-bats over that stretch. Cody Bellinger will patrol center field in his absence.
Sep 8 2017Taylor isn't in the lineup for Friday's matchup against the Rockies. With Taylor getting the night off, Joc Pederson will start in center field. Taylor, who's put together a .305 batting average and .897 OPS over 121 games this season, should be back in the lineup for Saturday's outing.
Sep 3 2017Taylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-4 loss to San Diego on Sunday.Taylor has now hit safely in seven consecutive contests, bringing his batting average up to .307 on the year. The breakout star continues to strike out in a quarter of his plate appearances (25.9 percent strikeout rate), but the whiffs have been offset by a fortuitous .394 BABIP. Taylor has provided five-category production all season, and he doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
Sep 2 2017Taylor is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's twin bill against the Padres, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.Taylor gets the afternoon off after starting the past 11 games, including a two-hit day at the plate during Friday's win. In his place, Alex Verdugo draws the assignment in center while Enrique Hernandez starts at short.
Aug 30 2017Taylor went 2-for-5 with his 18th home run and three RBI in Tuesday's loss to Arizona. The superutility man broke out of a rare 0-for-11 slump in extraordinary fashion. Taylor continues to surpass expectations with an impressive .305/.376/.534 slash line in 452 plate appearances. We are past the point of doubting his elite performance; that can be a conversation left for the offseason when fantasy owners gauge his 2018 value.
Aug 25 2017Taylor went 3-for-5 with a double, a stolen base and a run batted in Thursday against the Pirates. The 2017 breakout star collected his third three-plus hit game over his last six starts, bumping his batting average up to .313 in the process. Taylor carries an astronomical .401 BABIP, but he has avoided a looming regression while seemingly staying hot all season. The 26-year-old has taken over everyday duties in center following Joc Pederson's demotion and continues to be a five-category contributor atop a potent Dodger lineup.
Aug 20 2017Taylor is out of Sunday's lineup against the Tigers, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports. He has played in 40 straight games, hitting .360/.411/.646 with eight home runs and four steals over that stretch, and will get the matinee off. Enrique Hernandez will start in center field and hit ninth.
Aug 19 2017Taylor went 4-for-5 with with two doubles, two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Tigers. The 27-year-old continues to tear the cover off the ball this month, slashing .300/.382/.650 with five home runs, 10 RBI and two stolen bases in 15 August starts. Manager Dave Roberts will have to do a lot of lineup shuffling following the acquisition of Curtis Granderson and the activation of Adrian Gonzalez on Friday, but Taylor's red-hot bat and ability to play all over the diamond will keep him in the lineup on a daily basis.
Aug 13 2017Taylor 2-for-3 with a pair of walks and his 17th home run of the season in Saturday's win over the Padres. The 26-year-old is doing his best Cody Bellinger impression this month, tallying his fifth homer in August which is just one short of his fellow breakout star's total in as many games. The super utility man has found a regular home in left field for the Dodgers, but manager Dave Roberts will have to do some depth chart shuffling with Adrian Gonzalez (back) returning as soon as next week. Taylor and his impressive .310/.379/.554 slash line will almost assuredly remain a regular in the Dodgers' lineup due to his positional flexibility.
Aug 10 2017Taylor went 1-for-4 with a solo homer, a walk and two runs scored in Thursday's 8-6 win over the Diamondbacks.Like seemingly every Dodger, Taylor has been on fire of late. The leadoff man has launched four home runs in the past seven games while scoring 10 runs and driving in six. That power binge has pushed Taylor's season line to .308/.375/.547.
Aug 5 2017Taylor went 1-for-5 with a solo homer and two runs Saturday against the Mets.Taylor smashed his 15th home run of the year to put the Dodgers on the board in the sixth inning as part of a come-from-behind victory. He's now homered in three consecutive contests to raise his slugging percentage to an exceptional .549.
Aug 4 2017Taylor went 2-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and two additional runs scored in Friday's 6-0 win over the Mets.He led off the game with his 14th homer of the year, giving Yu Darvish all the offense he would need in his Dodgers debut, but Taylor also scored in the fifth and seventh innings to provide plenty of insurance. The 26-year-old utility player now has a .928 OPS as he builds further on his breakout season.
Aug 3 2017Taylor went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and three runs scored Thursday in Atlanta.Taylor had gone six games without a multi-hit performance, but still has 10 since July 14. He's chipped in an even 13 homers and 13 steals in 90 games played, putting him on a 20-20 pace. Taylor has brought a terrific combination of speed and power at the top of the order with a .313/.379/.534 line. His .416 BABIP suggests some of that production is fueled by luck, though.
Jul 26 2017Taylor doubled twice in four at-bats and drove home three runs against the Twins on Tuesday. The leadoff hitter's strong performance provided all the run production the Dodgers ended up needing in a 6-2 win. Taylor is in the midst of a spectacular breakout campaign while serving as a much-used utility man in Los Angeles, as he's now hitting .321 with a dozen homers and steals apiece, not to mention 47 RBI and 52 runs in 83 games. One way or another, he's been finding his way into the lineup nearly every day since his call-up in mid-April. However, it's our duty to point out his potential for regression: His BABIP is an insane .426 and he's never shown this kind of power in the minors. That said, he's 26 years old -- the right age for a power breakout -- and he's markedly improved his walk rate as well as his hard-hit and line-drive rates.
Jul 22 2017Taylor came off the bench Saturday to go 2-for-2 with a home run, a triple and three RBI against the Braves.Taylor is now slashing .310/.382/.538 with 12 home runs in 277 at-bats this season. While the Dodgers likely intended for him to simply be a quality bench bat entering the season, he has staked his claim to an everyday role, and is now 16-for-28 with two home runs, three triples and three doubles over his last eight games.
Jul 22 2017Taylor is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Braves. An 0-for-4 showing Friday snapped a six-game hitting streak in which Taylor he went 14-for-25 with six extra-base hits. He will sit Saturday as Trayce Thompson mans left and Chase Utley plays second, but Taylor has established himself as a near-everyday presence in the lineup and as a regular atop the batting order.
Jul 20 2017Taylor went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and two RBI in Wednesday's 9-1 win over the White Sox.Getting the start in left field and hitting at the top of the lineup, Taylor set the tone with a leadoff homer, his 11th blast of the year. If MLB had an equivalent to the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year Award, the 26-year-old would arguably be the favorite to win it right now as he's slashing .307/.381/.521 in 77 games while seeing action at five different positions around the diamond.
Jul 16 2017Taylor went 2-for-5 with a triple and a run scored in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Marlins. The 26-year-old continues his breakout season into the second half, tallying four hits in his first two games back from the All-Star break. A .291 batting average and .371 on-base percentage have earned him the right to lead off for a potent Dodgers lineup, which should help him build on his current mark of 44 runs. Taylor has spent the majority of the season bouncing around the diamond, but Adrian Gonzalez's lengthy absence has opened up an everyday role in left field, which should add to his already diverse positional eligibility.
Jul 7 2017Taylor went 4-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks. It's Taylor's fourth multi-hit effort in six games, with his final base knock of the night capping the Dodgers' come-from-behind win as part of a four-run ninth inning. With a .877 OPS over 265 plate appearances this season, Taylor has been a gem of a find for the Dodgers and should hold down an everyday role thanks to his ability to play all over the infield and outfield.
Jul 5 2017Taylor went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a pair of runs scored in Tuesday's win over Arizona.Taylor moved down to fifth in the order against a southpaw, but still produced a stat line resembling a leadoff hitter. The multi-hit performance was the utility man's third over his last four contests, bringing his overall slash line up to a very useful .283/.370/.487 to go along with 10 home runs and 11 steals through 67 games.
Jul 2 2017Taylor went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Saturday's 8-0 win over the Padres.Just when it appeared that the super-utility man was finally slowing down, Taylor reminded us that his breakout isn't over quite yet. Hopefully his 3-for-30 slump didn't deter fantasy owners from keeping him in their lineup, as he has collected four hits and five RBI over his last two contests.
Jul 1 2017Taylor returned to the lineup Friday, going 2-for-5 with a walk and an RBI in a win over the Padres. The 26-year-old received a day off Thursday after enduring a 3-for-30 slump, and the rest paid immediate dividends. Taylor's 28.3 percent strikeout rate and .368 BABIP are warning signs that his batting average would eventually come back down to earth, but a career-high 12.3 BB percentage and his ability to swipe bags should keep him in the fantasy conversation while he bats leadoff for a potent Dodgers lineup.
Jun 29 2017Taylor is not in the lineup Thursday against the Angels, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.Taylor is just 3-for-30 (.100) with 11 strikeouts over his last nine games, so he'll get the day off to clear his mind. Trayce Thompson will start in left field for him.
Jun 24 2017Taylor is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies.Cody Bellinger will shift out to left field against right-hander Tyler Chatwood, opening the door for Chase Utley at first base. Taylor's bat has quieted a bit over the past couple weeks, but he's still slashing a robust .284/.368/.490 on the year. His success with the bat along with his defensive versatility should keep Taylor in the lineup regularly for the foreseeable future.
Jun 20 2017Taylor returned to the lineup Monday, going 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a stolen base in a 10-6 win over the Mets. The homer and steal were the 26-year-old's ninth and eighth of the season, respectively. Taylor started in left field, and he continues to see regular playing time all over the field despite Justin Turner, Logan Forsythe and Joc Pederson all being healthy. His .302 batting average has to come down eventually due to a sky-high .395 BABIP and a 27.6 percent strikeout rate, but Taylor's improved patience at the plate (11.8 BB percentage) is real and should keep his value afloat as a source of runs and steals if and when his bat cools down.
Jun 18 2017Taylor is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.Taylor has been a steady, reliable weapon at the plate for the Dodgers this season, but will get the day off Sunday after starting each of the team's previous 13 games. Enrique Hernandez draws that start in left field in his absence.
Jun 15 2017Taylor collected another two hits, including a two-run home run, and also drew a walk in Thursday's 12-5 loss to the Indians.Taylor continues to take advantage of his opportunity in the everyday lineup, collecting his eighth home run in 165 at-bats during Thursday's tilt. It seems he's destined to regress at some point given his high strikeout rate and BABIP he carries. However, the 26-year-old's ability to impact games with his bat and legs could make him an attractive option in the short run.
Jun 14 2017Taylor went 2-for-4 with a double, two steals, two RBI and a run in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers. He was intimately involved with much of the Dodgers' offensive production in this game, including stealing home in the second inning and singling home two insurance runs in the eighth. With a .298 average, seven homers and seven steals through 184 plate appearances, Taylor's been an extremely pleasant surprise for fantasy owners, but it's unlikely that he'll be able to sustain either the average or the power. While the speed is certainly real, his .394 BABIP is unsustainable, his 27.2 percent strikeout rate does him no favors, and he entered play Wednesday with a 25.0 percent HR/FB. The speed and the promise of steady at-bats (at least in the short term) make him worth rostering in many fantasy formats, though.
Jun 13 2017Manager Dave Roberts said Taylor will serve as the primary left fielder while Adrian Gonzalez (back) is sidelined, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. With Adrian Gonzalez landing on the disabled list, the Dodgers are planning to shift Cody Bellinger from left field to first base, leaving a spot for Taylor to fill in the outfield. The 26-year-old -- who has seen more playing time than ever before due to a myriad of injuries that have plagued the Dodgers -- is slashing a healthy .294/.383/.497 with seven homers and four stolen bases in 48 games this season. With Gonzalez seemingly out until around the All-Star break, Taylor is definitely worth a look.
Jun 7 2017Taylor is leading off Wednesday's contest with the Nationals.Taylor has bounced around the lineup during his extended stint with the Dodgers, and he's managed to produce at every point, sporting an impressive .938 OPS through 44 games with the big-league club. He'll man center field for another game, and although Justin Turner (hamstring) is expected to return Friday, Taylor may have played well enough to warrant semi-regular playing time after Turner's activation.
Jun 6 2017Taylor batted third and went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Monday's loss to the Nationals.Taylor's hot stretch has earned him a premium spot in the Dodgers' lineup over the past two games (one against a righty and the other against a lefty). His first game from the three-hole was a disappointing 0-for-4 line Sunday, but he provided some run production against Gio Gonzalez on Monday. The impending return of Justin Turner (hamstring) will push Taylor down the order, but manager Dave Roberts should find a way to keep the 26-year-old's bat in the lineup while he experiences a breakout campaign (.316/.409/.541).
Jun 3 2017Taylor went 3-for-4 with a game-winning grand slam, a double and three runs during Saturday's win over Milwaukee. After posting a .322/.430/.511 slash line with four homers and 14 RBI over 107 plate appearances in May, Taylor continues to make a case for consistent playing time. He did so in dramatic fashion Saturday, too. With Justin Turner (hamstring) on this disabled list, Taylor should continue to see consistent at-bats for the time being. The Dodgers have utilized his versatility, as Taylor has already played four positions this season, and that also bodes well for his chances of finding playing time when Turner returns.
Jun 2 2017Taylor is out of the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Brewers.Logan Forsythe will lead things off for the Dodgers against Jimmy Nelson and Brett Eibner is set to start in center field. Taylor had cooled off a bit over the last week before getting the night off Friday, slashing .222/.300/.333 with 11 strikeouts over 27 at-bats. He figures to return to the lineup Saturday against Matt Garza.
Jun 1 2017Chris Taylor is leading off and playing center field Thursday against the Cardinals, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports. It's the third time in his last eight games that he's setting the table, and the injury to Justin Turner (hamstring) has given Taylor a continued opportunity to play, even against right-handed pitching. He kept his hot hitting going in May (.322/.430/.511 with four homers and 14 RBI in 107 plate appearances) and may keep at least a semi-regular spot in the lineup even after Turner resurfaces.
May 28 2017Taylor went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run during Saturday's win over the Cubs.Taylor has made the most of his opportunities this season with six home runs, 19 RBI, 18 runs and a .327/.424/.574 slash line through 118 plate appearances. With Justin Turner (hamstring) on the disabled list, Taylor should continue to see regular playing time, too. However, when Turner returns, Taylor's at-bats could see a steep decline. Additionally, there is probably plenty of negative regression ahead for Taylor considering his .418 BABIP. There is the possibility that his ability to play multiple positions will provide an avenue to semi-regular playing time once the Dodgers are at full health, though.
May 25 2017Taylor got the start in center field in place of Joc Pederson (neck) Wednesday. He went 1-for-3 in a 6-1 loss to the Dodgers. The 26-year-old has been playing all over the field this season, filling in for injured starters when called upon. Not only has he been filling various needs for the Dodgers, but the utility man has been experiencing his best offensive season to date (.326/.434/.562 in 106 plate appearances). Now that Logan Forsythe has returned from the disabled list, it appears Taylor will enter a platoon in center field with Enrique Hernandez until Pederson returns from a neck injury. The uncertainty of future playing time limits his value as a long-term pickup, but he is certainly putting up helpful fantasy numbers when he sees the field.
May 23 2017Taylor is getting close to seeing some starts in the outfield, David Vassegh of AM 570 in Los Angeles reports.Injuries around the Dodger infield have allowed Taylor to see some regular playing time of late, but Logan Forsythe's return means that Taylor will start seeing some starts in the outfield. Taylor has reportedly been working hard on getting acclimated to playing outfield and the Dodgers believe he's close to being game-ready out there. By keeping Taylor in the lineup, the Dodgers are keeping a right-handed bat in the lineup that has crushed lefties to this point in the season with a .440 batting average and a 1.29 OPS.
May 20 2017Taylor went 3-for-4 with a double and solo home run in Friday's 7-2 win over the Marlins.Taylor thrived out of the leadoff spot, touching up Justin Nicolino multiple times and racking up his third multi-hit outing over his last four starts. The 26-year-old has exploded in May, slashing .373/.500/.608 over 64 plate appearances with three homers and 11 RBI.
May 16 2017Taylor went 3-for-5 with a double, RBI and run scored in Monday's 8-4 loss to the rival Giants. It seems as though Taylor has done nothing but hit this year, and he's now slashing an impressive .324/.425/.515. He doesn't have much power, though, and his short-term value in deep mixed and NL-only leagues is likely coming to an end soon, as Logan Forsythe (toe) is nearing a return from the disabled list.
May 8 2017Taylor went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and three runs scored in Monday's 12-1 rout of the Pirates. It was his third home run of the season and second career grand slam. The slam got the Dodgers going with a six-run first inning, and they never looked back. Taylor has been the more consistent fill-in option (.395/.521/.684) at the keystone over Chase Utley with Logan Forsythe (toe) on the disabled list. While he's swinging a hot bat and seeing regular playing time in the interim, Taylor has maintained deep-league value.
Apr 30 2017Taylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Phillies.Taylor had been alternating starts at second base with Chase Utley in Logan Forsythe's (toe) absence, seeing the majority of his playing time against southpaws. Sunday was a different story, as the 30-year-old started his second game in a row, this time against a righty. The shift in playing time was likely made in response to Taylor's early success (.296/.345/.593) and Utley's struggles (.122/.200/.146). With a regular role, the veteran will maintain deep-league value until Forsythe returns.
Apr 27 2017Taylor is in the Dodgers' lineup Thursday, batting fifth and playing second base against the Giants, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports. The infielder slides in for Chase Utley against southpaw Matt Moore. Taylor will continue platooning at second base for at least the next few weeks while Logan Forsythe (toe) is on the disbaled list.
Apr 20 2017Taylor wasted no time making an impact in his first big-league appearance of the season, doubling twice and scoring a run in the Dodgers' 4-2 win over the Rockies. The 26-year-old seems to have an inside track to playing time against left-handed starters while Logan Forsythe (toe) spends time on the disabled list. Taylor wasn't off to a great start at Triple-A Oklahoma City, but he'll look to rebound in a part-time role with Chase Utley until Forsythe is ready to return, after which Taylor will likely head back to the minors.
Apr 19 2017Taylor was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.Taylor was added to fill in for Logan Forsythe, who was just placed on the 10-day DL with a fractured toe. The Dodgers will waste no time inserting Taylor into the lineup, as he is starting at second base and batting ninth Wednesday against the Rockies. Taylor could serve as the primary replacement for Forsythe at second base against right-handed pitchers, with Chase Utley likely to get the bulk of starts against southpaws.
Mar 30 2017The Dodgers' final utility infielder job battle has come down to Taylor and Enrique Hernandez (hand), according to Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. The 26-year-old excelled this spring, slashing .370/.500/.522 in 57 plate appearances. Hernandez was considered the favorite to break camp with the club, but a minor hand injury this week has put his Opening Day status in question. Whoever wins the final bench spot will likely see spot-starts against lefties during the regular season.
Mar 12 2017Taylor reached base in all three of his plate appearances Saturday, hitting a double, a triple and drawing a walk in a win over the Angels.Taylor is currently fighting for a spot on the 25-man roster as a utility infielder. He is considered a long shot to make the cut with veterans Chase Utley and Enrique Hernandez in front of him on the depth chart. Neither of those players are struggling this spring, but Taylor is red-hot, batting .421 with a 1.121 OPS 24 plate appearances. If he can keep this up, he will force the Dodgers to consider keeping him around over one of the aforementioned options.
Feb 21 2017Taylor is one of several options being considered for a backup utility infielder position heading into the regular season, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.General manager Farhad Zaidi said that the club wants to carry an extra backup infielder who has experience at short. Taylor fits the bill and will compete with Enrique Hernandez and Charlie Culberson this spring. He has a career slash line of .234/.289/.309 in 318 career plate appearances, so he will have to really stand out to earn a roster spot.
Sep 23 2016Taylor was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, MLB.com's Jack Baer reports. He will undoubtedly struggle to see playing time over the final 10 days of the regular season, but since he is on the 40-man roster and the minor league season is over, it made sense to bring him up. Taylor hit .322/.397/.474 with three home runs and 17 steals in 78 games between the Mariners and Dodgers Triple-A affiliates this season.
Aug 21 2016Taylor was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. With Andrew Toles returning to the Dodgers, the club opted to send Taylor back to Oklahoma City. Taylor has put up an impressive .320/.392/.471 line at the Triple-A level this season, but is hitting just .224/.274/.379 in the majors.
Aug 9 2016Taylor was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday. With Scott Van Slyke (wrist) being placed on the disabled list Tuesday with right wrist irritation, Taylor got the call up to fill the void on the roster. Although Taylor carries a career .238 average over 281 at-bats in the majors, he holds a career .316 BA and .401 OBP over 1612 at-bats in the minors.
Jul 18 2016Taylor has started two of the team's last three games at second base, going 5-for-9 with a double, home run, and six RBI.With Chase Utley in a 1-for-14 skid since his six-hit game, Taylor got the nod against a pair of Arizona lefties with Howie Kendrick seeing time in left field. He looks like a sneaky DFS play against southpaws, but little more at this point.
Jun 25 2016Taylor was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday.A trade acquisition from the Mariners just last weekend, he will come up to provide depth to the Dodgers' infield, replacing Nick Tepesch. Taylor has a little speed but has never hit a home run at the major league level and probably won't play enough to even come close to entering the mixed-league conversation.
Jun 19 2016Taylor was traded to the Dodgers on Sunday.Taylor was traded for right-handed pitcher Zach Lee. Taylor slashed .312/.387/.457 over 247 at-bats with Triple-A Tacoma.
May 25 2016Taylor was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.Taylor was optioned to make room for infielder Luis Sardinas who has been red hot in Triple-A this season. The 25-year-old was 1-for-3 in his short time with the big league club but will now head to Tacoma to continue to develop until his next call up.
May 22 2016Taylor was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.Taylor lost his roster spot to Luis Sardinas in spring, but it was only a matter of time before the utility infielder was needed. With Ketel Marte's placement on the disabled list Sunday, a roster spot opened up for Taylor, who owns a .838 OPS in the minors this season.
Mar 28 2016Taylor, as expected, was sent to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday as he lost the utility job to Luis Sardinas.Taylor was clearly outplayed by Sardinas this spring. He went 8-for-42 with three extra-base hits to Sardinas' 18-for-54 with seven extra-base hits. Sardinas is also the better fielder at third base. Taylor likely will see time in Seattle this year, but his bat is still a major hindrance to hm sticking full time.
Mar 27 2016Taylor likely has lost the utility job to Luis Sardinas after going 8-for-42 this spring.Shawn O'Malley was optioned to Triple-A on Sunday, leaving Taylor and Sardinas to battle, but the latter has clearly outperformed Taylor this spring with 16 hits in 34 at-bats (.471) and six walks. Sardinas is also better at third base. Taylor likely will head to Triple-A and await a callup when injuries hit.
Mar 5 2016Taylor's shot at winning the utility job hinges on whether he can play third base, the Tacoma News Tribune reports.Taylor is competing Luis Sardinas. The Mariners want their utility infielder to play second base, shortstop and third base. A middlie infielder, Taylor has little experience at third base, but he'll work out there this spring. Sardinas is the favorite for the job because in addition to playing all three positions, he's a switch-hitter and a better pinch-running option. Taylor looks headed to Triple-A Tacoma. Shawn O'Malley is also in the mix, but he is not as strong at shorstop, which is a priority for the M's, as the other two.
Sep 8 2015Taylor was sent to Arizona instructional league on Tuesday, MLB.com's Andrew Erickson reports. He hit .170 in 37 games with the Mariners this season, and instead of recalling him and giving him the occasional start down the stretch the team will opt to let him work on some things with less pressure on results. It will be difficult for Taylor to emerge as an everyday player for the Mariners next year after the emergence of Ketel Marte.
Jul 30 2015The Mariners optioned Taylor to Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, Bob Dutton of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.Taylor has hit just .170 this season and has played sparingly of late, so the Mariners decided it was time for a change of scenery. The club has not announced who will replace Taylor, but top prospect Ketel Marte could be on his way to Seattle in the corresponding move.
Jul 10 2015Taylor will start at shortstop and bat leadoff Friday against the Angels, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.Friday's start marks Taylor's first atop the order in his career. He seems to now be in a fairly strict platoon at shortstop with Brad Miller, seeing the starts against left-handed pitching. Taylor is batting just .176 for the season but is 5-for-14 (.357 average) with two extra-base hits against southpaws.
Jul 3 2015Taylor, who went 0-for-2 Thursday in a start against a left-hander in his first game back with the Mariners, will back up Brad Miller at shortstop, the Seattle Times reports.Miller lost the starting job and moved to the outfield when Taylor was called up earlier this year, but manager Lloyd McClendon said this time Miller will stay put, probably because the superior-fielding Taylor doesn't have an everyday bat. Miller hits right-handers pretty well (.821 OPS) but struggles against lefties (.340 OPS). The duo likely will platoon more often than not, as the team probably figures if it's going to take a zero at the position against left-handers regardless, it might as well get some good fielding out of it. It's perhaps questionable that the M's recalled Taylor, who hit .272 at Tacoma after his June 1 demotion, for a bench role, but they have few options. Willie Bloomquist can neither field nor hit, which is why he was DFA'd, and minor-league shortstop Shawn O'Malley has an injured wrist.
Jul 2 2015Taylor was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, ESPN 710's Shannon Drayer reports.Taylor hit .289/.365/.407 with 13 steals in 48 games at Triple-A, and while he offers an defensive upgrade over Brad Miller, there is very little evidence that he can be a solid offensive option against big league pitching. Look for Willie Bloomquist, who has a sore arm, to be a potential DL candidate as a corresponding move. =
Jun 1 2015Taylor was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, Shannon Drayer of ESPN 710 in Seattle reports.Taylor has been battling Brad Miller for at-bats of late, and with Austin Jackson returning from the DL, his opportunities were limited. Taylor, who is hitting just .161 since being recalled on May 4, will return to Triple-A as Maykol Guaipe comes up from Tacoma.
May 31 2015Taylor will be out of the lineup for a third straight game Sunday against the Indians, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports..The Mariners had recently been able to fit both Brad Miller and Taylor in their lineup, but after Austin Jackson returned from the DL earlier last week, the team no longer has an open spot for both players. It appears Miller's superior hitting has won out at the shortstop spot, as Taylor is just 10-for-62 (.161) at the plate since his May 4 promotion to the big leagues. If he continues to see limited action over the next few games, it wouldn't be a surprise if Taylor was shipped back to Triple-A Tacoma.
May 29 2015Taylor went 0-for-3 Thursday, dropping his battling line to .161/.224/.210 in 19 games since he was called up.Taylor could be looking at a demotion. The Mariners are carrying six relievers, and when they need another arm, Taylor might have to give up his roster spot. Brad Miller is hitting relatively well and could return to shortstop. But he lost the job in the first place because of his glove, not his bat. So, the Mariner have to decide which is worse -- Taylor's bat or Miller's glove. Fortunately for Taylor, the Mariners have plenty of options for demotion, including Dustin Ackley who could be DFA'd.
May 27 2015Taylor is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Rays, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.Taylor's absence from the lineup Wednesday is his first since May 17. Following an 0-for-8 slide with five strikeouts over the last couple days, his batting average has dropped to .169 on the season, so it's not a huge surprise that he's taking a seat. Brad Miller will receive the start at shortstop Wednesday, and it could begin to come a regularity if Taylor can't turn things around.
May 24 2015Taylor will start his sixth straight game at shortstop Sunday against the Blue Jays, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.Manager Lloyd McClendon has continued to stand by Taylor, despite the infielder's lukewarm production since his May 4 call-up. Taylor is batting only .167 across 48 at-bats, but is coming off one of his more productive outings Saturday, when he recorded a single and double across four plate appearances. His fantasy value remains limited to AL-only formats and very deep mixed leagues at this time.
May 17 2015Taylor is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox, MLB.com's Greg Johns reports.Taylor's promotion to the big leagues earlier this month may have lit a fire under incumbent shortstop Brad Miller, who homered twice Saturday to continue his torrid play. As a result, it looks like Taylor may find himself on the bench with more frequency, as his .129 average since joining the Mariners doesn't make a strong case for regular playing time.
May 12 2015Taylor (hand) is back in the lineup Tuesday, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.Taylor missed Sunday's game after his hand was stepped up during Saturday's win over the A's. He's back in the lineup Tuesday, however, so the hand injury, as expected, doesn't look to be anything serious.
May 10 2015X-rays on Taylor's right hand came back negative Sunday, Shannon Drayer of 710 AM ESPN Seattle reports. With the injury revealed to be nothing more than a bruise, Taylor isn't expected to miss much time. He was scratched in favor of Brad Miller on Sunday against the A's, but with the Mariners having a day off Monday, Taylor may not miss any more time.
May 10 2015Taylor had x-rays on his right hand Sunday morning, a result of having been stepped on that hand on Saturday.Taylor, who had started the last five games, was originally slated to start at shortstop, but Brad Miller got the nod there instead.
May 5 2015Taylor will get the start at shortstop for the second day in a row Tuesday, MLB.com's Greg Johns reports.Fellow shortstop Brad Miller was getting some work in at center field before Tuesday's game, so Taylor could have the inside track at shortstop in the short term. Taylor may offer more offensively than Miller, but he will need to play almost everyday to be useful in shallower leagues, and the playing time situation remains hazy. He will hit ninth for the second day in a row.
May 4 2015Taylor was recalled to the majors Monday.Taylor had been hitting well in the minors, slashing .313/.385/.475 with two homers in 21 games and got the nod for the promotion in a corresponding move as the team placed Austin Jackson on the disabled list. He'll start at shortstop and bat ninth Monday against the Angels.
Apr 18 2015Taylor (wrist) was activated from the DL and optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday.Taylor, who is still just over five weeks removed from suffering a broken bone in his wrist, will effectively continue his rehab assignment with Tacoma. He went 6-for-23 in his first six games with the affiliate. With Brad Miller struggling mightily -- he has just one hit in his last five starts -- it may only be a matter of time before Taylor gets an opportunity with the major league team.
Apr 9 2015Taylor (wrist) has no restrictions as he takes part in hitting and fielding drills with Triple-A Tacoma, the Tacoma News Tribune's Bob Dutton reports. He could get into game action at Triple-A on an official rehab assignment within the next week, although that rehab assignment could last a couple weeks, especially since the Mariners don't really need him on the big league roster right now. The takeaway here is that in a few weeks it looks like Taylor will be an option to push Brad Miller for at-bats if the latter is struggling.
Apr 4 2015Taylor (wrist) was placed on the 15-day DL, the Seattle Times reports.Taylor has been sidelined since Mar. 13 with a broken wrist and is expected to be out 4-to-6 weeks. The 24-year-old could return at some point in late April or early May.
Mar 30 2015Taylor (wrist) will hit off a tee Monday and says he has been throwing at 100 percent, the Seattle Times' Ryan Divish reports. He took 30 swings in the pool Sunday and said that he is pain-free in his wrist/hand. Taylor lost out on the starting shortstop job because of the injury, but there are plenty of scenarios where he could take that job over at some point this season. In deeper leagues he could be worth a stash, especially if there are DL spots.
Mar 25 2015Taylor (wrist) has resumed taking ground balls, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.Taylor, who has been sidelined since March 13 with a broken wrist, will have the injury reevaluated next week. The initial timetable of 4-to-6 weeks seems to still be in play, so the 24-year-old could return at some point in late April or early May.
Mar 14 2015Taylor has a broken bone in his right wrist and will be out four-to-six weeks, MLB.com's Greg Johns reports. This is a brutal injury for Taylor, who had been playing well in camp and was going to challenge for the starting shortstop job out of camp. Last year his call-up to the big leagues was delayed because of a broken pinky finger, and now a wrist injury will put him in an uncertain position when he returns. Brad Miller will now open the season as the Mariners' starting shortstop, and he will likely need to be struggling over the first month of the season for Taylor to get a shot at taking his spot. Of course wrist injuries can often be problematic for hitters, so it may take Taylor a while before he can regain his pre-injury form at the plate.
Mar 14 2015Taylor will not play in Saturday's spring training game and is unlikely to return for Sunday's game after getting hit in the wrist Friday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports. The issue doesn't appear to be a serious one, though Taylor did report that his wrist felt a little sore. Consider him day-to-day, and he should return early in the week if he's unable to go Sunday.
Mar 7 2015Taylor hit a run-scoring triple and a two-run homer Friday in a Cactus League game against the Dodgers.Taylor is competing with Brad Miller for the starting shortstop role. Taylor is better defensively, so if he keeps hitting like this, he likely will sow up the job.
Feb 11 2015Taylor likely will be sent to Triple-A Tacoma if he does not win the shortstop battle with Brad Miller in spring training after the Mariners signed Rickie Weeks on Wednesday. With Weeks and Willie Bloomquist on the roster, the Mariners don't need another infielder on the bench. So, either Miller or Taylor looks headed to Triple-A. Miller is the better hitter, while Taylor is the better fielder. A bench could open, however, if Bloomquist's injured knee doesn't prove healthy in spring.
Feb 7 2015There is no early favorite in the competition between Taylor and Brad Miller for the starting shortstop job this spring, the Tacoma News Tribune reports. While Taylor is considered to be the better defender of the pair, Miller is expected to be the better hitter. At the very least, Miller will offer pop, but Taylor's line last season including a .287 average and .347 OBP, which could prove to be an asset depending on how the Mariners prefer to structure their lineup. If the team were to opt for a straight platoon, Taylor would likely see the smaller share of playing time as the right-handed bat.
Sep 21 2014Taylor is not in Sunday's lineup against the Astros, MLB.com's Greg Johns reports. The Mariners have given Taylor the start in six of their last eight games, but Brad Miller continues to fight to get his starting job back. Taylor's batting average has dropped 30 points since the start of September, which means the Mariners could now start the left-handed Miller against right-handers like Collin McHugh.
Sep 19 2014Taylor is not in the lineup Friday against the Astros, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.Taylor will turn the shortstop position back over to Brad Miller following three straight starts, with right-hander Brad Peacock on the hill for Houston. It seems the two will continue to split time, but Taylor got a start against a right-hander earlier in the week, so it likely won't be a strict platoon.
Sep 17 2014Taylor will earn a second straight start at shortstop Wednesday against the Angels, MLB.com's Greg Johns reports.Taylor is coming off one of the most productive nights in his Mariner career, as he went 2-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI on Tuesday. He'll fill in for Brad Miller at shortstop with the Angels starting left-hander C.J. Wilson on Wednesday. It seems that both Miller and Taylor could be used in a platoon at the position the rest of the way.
Sep 8 2014Taylor is out of the lineup Monday against the Astros, Shannon Drayer of 710 AM ESPN Seattle reports. For the third time in four games, Taylor will surrender a start to Brad Miller, the former everyday shortstop for the Mariners who has made a push to claim his job back. Taylor has cooled off in recent games to drop his average below .300, so expect manager Lloyd McClendon to ride the hot bat from here on out. That distinction goes to Miller for the time being, after he turned in a 4-for-4 performance in his most recent start.
Sep 6 2014Taylor is not in the lineup Saturday for the second straight day, according to Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times.Taylor started over Brad Miller for much of August, but the scales are tipping back in Miller's favor, as he has started five of the last seven games, including Saturday's. Taylor is still hitting .301 on the season, but he hasn't recorded a multi-hit game since Aug. 15 and also has just one RBI since that day.
Sep 4 2014Taylor struck out three times and walked twice in five plate appearances Thursday in Texas. He scored two runs.A curious outing for Taylor, whose batting average continues its steady decline -- he's now down to .301. He hadn't struck out in his last five games before whiffing thrice in this one, and he's now drawn five walks in his last six games. Taylor showed solid plate discipline throughout his career in the minor leagues, and will keep trying to translate that as he closes out his rookie season.
Sep 1 2014Taylor is out of the lineup again Monday against the Athletics, Shannon Drayer of ESPN 710 reports.Taylor will sit for the second straight day in favor of Brad Miller despite his .310/.378/.379 batting line with the Mariners this season. Miller got on track offensively with a 3-for-3 performance Sunday, so it looks like manager Lloyd McClendon is just rewarding him with another start. Taylor still looks to be the team's top option at shortstop.
Aug 31 2014Taylor is out of the lineup Sunday against the Nationals, MLB.com's Greg Johns reports.Taylor is still sporting a batting average of .310 and an on-base percentage of .378 over his first 98 major league plate appearances, but he's noticed 20-point drops in both categories over the last week. The minor slump won't loosen his grasp of the starting shortstop gig, but he will get the day off Sunday in favor of Brad Miller.
Aug 27 2014Taylor went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Rangers.Taylor has given some needed credibility to the shortstop spot since joining the Mariners on July 24. While his counting stats haven't been impressive as a byproduct of hitting in the bottom-third of the order, Taylor has supplied a .321 average and .386 on-base percentage over 88 plate appearances. However, beware of a .439 BABIP that's likely to fall from here, with his batting average probably dropping as a consequence.
Aug 22 2014Taylor is out of the lineup Friday, MLB.com's Greg Johns reports. He'll sit for the second time over the Mariners' last three games. Brad Miller will get the start, despite being pretty awful this season. Taylor got off to a hot start, but over the last seven games, he has seen his batting average drop from .375 to .338.
Aug 20 2014Taylor will bat second in the lineup Wednesday against the Phillies, Shannon Drayer of 710 AM ESPN Seattle reports.Taylor has been batting in the bottom-third of the lineup since earning the call to the majors on July 24, but his .406 on-base mark in 21 games will earn him a promotion upward in the order. The 23-year-old has yet to supply a home run or stolen base in his 61 at-bats, but if he ends up sticking in the two-hole, his run totals could surge.
Aug 13 2014Taylor is out of the lineup Wednesday vs. the Blue Jays, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports. With a .375 batting average through his first 16 major-league games, Taylor has done little to jeopardize his standing atop the Seattle depth chart at shortstop. However, manager Lloyd McClendon likely doesn't want young shortstop Brad Miller to completely lose confidence, so he could still continue to steal occasional at-bats from Taylor. Such will be the case with a right-hander on the mound Wednesday in knuckleballer R.A. Dickey.
Aug 11 2014Taylor isn't in the lineup Monday against the Blue Jays, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.Taylor started nine of the last 10 games at shortstop, but his presence at the plate was especially impressive. In 33 at-bats, he hit a robust .394 with three doubles, one RBI, and six runs. In his stead, Brad Miller is handling short and batting ninth in the order.
Aug 9 2014Taylor was just 1-for-4 in a losing effort against the White Sox on Saturday night, and he committed an error in the top of the tenth inning that lead to the winning run. He's still hitting a robust .372, but he now has three errors (despite being considered a superior glove to Brad Miller) and he grounded into a game-ending double play in the bottom half of the decisive inning. He'll continue to see regular playing time as long as he continues to hit, so hopefully weak performances like this one won't become commonplace.
Aug 8 2014Taylor had three hits Friday against the White Sox, giving him 15 hits in 29 at-bats (.385) since his callup from Triple-A Tacoma on July 24.Taylor has started nine of 13 games since his callup and likely will continue to see time at shortstop as long as he hits. Considering Brad Miller is hitting .199 this season, Taylor likely has a long leash. He could end up pushing Miller aside.
Aug 3 2014Taylor is out of the lineup Sunday vs. the Orioles, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.Taylor has certainly held his own since arriving in the majors last week, batting .375 over 24 at-bats. He'll receive the day off Sunday for maintenance purposes, as manager Lloyd McClendon looks to keep the slumping Brad Miller involved.
Jul 30 2014Taylor is out of the lineup Wednesday vs. the Indians, Shannon Drayer of 710 AM ESPN Seattle reports.Taylor has performed well in his brief time in the majors, going 4-for-12 with two RBI in four starts. Manager Lloyd McClendon indicated a day earlier he intended to give Brad Miller a start Wednesday to keep him fresh, but Taylor remains in the driver's seat for regular duty at shortstop.
Jul 24 2014Taylor is expected to receive a promotion to the majors prior to Thursday's game, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports. The Mariners have remained tight-lipped with their plans for Taylor, but if Thursday's trade for Kendrys Morales is any indication, the team is serious about upgrading the offense anywhere it can. Taylor could potentially represent an improvement over incumbent shortstop Brad Miller, who has produced a .598 OPS on the season, down over 130 points from the mark he posted as a rookie. Conversely, Taylor is on a 14-for-28 hitting streak over his last seven games with Tacoma, and could offer precisely the on-base skills the Mariners need at the shortstop spot.
Jul 24 2014The Mariners purchased Taylor's contract from Triple-A Tacoma prior to Thursday's game vs. the Orioles, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports. While the official lineup for Thursday hasn't yet been announced, it wouldn't be surprising if Taylor was inserted as the starting shortstop immediately. The Mariners have struggled to get production at the position from Brad Miller, and Taylor's excellent .328/.397/.497 line at Tacoma might be enough for him to get a sustained look. In addition to his superb hitting skills, he's also shown some proficiency on the bases, going 14-for-20 on stolen-base attempts.
Jul 24 2014Taylor will start at shortstop Thursday against the Orioles, batting ninth in the lineup, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports. The expectation is that Taylor will immediately displace Brad Miller as the team's everyday shortstop, thereby removing one of the Mariners' most unproductive regulars from the lineup. The additions of Taylor as well as Kendrys Morales, who was acquired from the Twins on Thursday, will also give the Mariners some much-needed right-handed hitting, adding diversity to a lineup that had become overly reliant on lefty batters.
Apr 2 2014Taylor will begin the season in Triple-A Tacoma.Taylor had an impressive 2013 in both High-A High Desert and Double-A Jackson. As an middle infielder, Taylor is still behind Brad Miller, Robinson Cano, and Nick Franklin on the organizational depth chart, but he could see some time on the Mariners bench later in the season.
