Aug 2 2023The Nationals requested unconditional release waivers on Dickerson following Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Brewers, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson came off the bench Wednesday, going hitless in his lone at-bat before coming around to score the game-tying run in the ninth inning on a throwing error. The 34-year-old spent most of the season in the strong side of a platoon in left field with Stone Garrett and maintained a .250/.283/.354 slash line with two home runs and 17 RBI over 151 plate appearances. Since they weren't able to find any takers for Dickerson ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, the 46-63 Nationals will move on from the veteran, who was on an expiring deal and wasn't part of the rebuilding organization's future. It's unclear if Washington plans to give Garrett a look in an everyday role or if another outfielder will be called up from the minors to replace Dickerson.
Oct 4 2022Dickerson is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Pirates, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson will get some rest, even with a righty (JT Brubaker) on the hill for Pittsburgh. Alec Burleson will start in left field and hit fifth.
Oct 2 2022Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Saturday's 13-3 victory over the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson's first-inning grand slam sent Nolan Arenado, Albert Pujols and Alec Burleson to the plate and knocked opposing starter Luis Ortiz out of the game. It was Dickerson's sixth homer of the season and his first since Aug. 29. The veteran outfielder has struggled lately, going 4-for-37 over his last 12 games. During that span, Dickerson's batting average dropped from .294 to where it sits now at .270.
Sep 30 2022Dickerson isn't starting Friday against the Pirates, John Denton of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Although right-hander Johan Oviedo is on the mound for Pittsburgh on Friday, Dickerson will head to the bench after going 1-for-10 with three strikeouts over the last three games. Juan Yepez is starting in left field and batting sixth.
Sep 24 2022Dickerson remains on the bench for Saturday's game against the Dodgers, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has started just twice all season against southpaws, so it's no surprise to see him sit against Clayton Kershaw. Juan Yepez will start in left field.
Sep 23 2022Dickerson isn't starting Friday against the Dodgers, John Denton of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson will step out of the lineup with southpaw Andrew Heaney set to start on the bump for the Dodgers. While he sits, Juan Yepez will pick up a start in left field and bat fifth.
Sep 17 2022Dickerson isn't starting the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against Cincinnati, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Left-hander Mike Minor is starting Saturday's matinee, so Dickerson will retreat to the bench for the second time in the last three games. Brendan Donovan will start in left field and bat seventh.
Sep 15 2022Dickerson is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson will get a breather Thursday amidst his eight-game hitting streak. In his place, Alec Burleson will pick up a start in left field and bat seventh.
Sep 6 2022Dickerson went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With two hits Tuesday, Dickerson now has six multi-hit games in his last 13. The hot streak has earned Dickerson almost everyday playing time, though the streak has lined up with the Cardinals facing mostly right-handed starters. As a testament to manager Oliver Marmol playing the splits, he pulled Dickerson for Dylan Carlson to allow the latter to face southpaw reliever Jake McGee despite Dickerson's two hits on the day. The veteran is slashing .289/.319/.438 in 213 plate appearances this season.
Sep 3 2022Dickerson will sit against lefty Drew Smyly and the Cubs on Saturday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has been seeing the field regularly against righties lately, but his lone start against a southpaw came back on May 21, so it's no surprise to see him hit the bench here. Tyler O'Neill will slide to left field, with Ben DeLuzio starting in center.
Aug 31 2022Dickerson isn't starting Wednesday against the Reds, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has started against just one left-handed pitcher this season and will get a day off with southpaw Mike Minor on the mound for the Reds on Wednesday. Tyler O'Neill, Dylan Carlson and Brendan Donovan are starting in the outfield from left to right.
Aug 29 2022Dickerson went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 13-4 win over the Reds. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson saw a seven-game hitting streak end Sunday against Atlanta, but he made up for lost time in Monday's contest. The homer was his first in August and his fifth of the year, though he's been productive with five doubles and a triple among his 22 hits through 17 games this month. For the season, the veteran is slashing .283/.316/.435 with 24 RBI, 22 runs scored and 11 doubles through 196 plate appearances.
Aug 28 2022Dickerson will start in left field and bat fifth in Sunday's game against Atlanta, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has seemingly played his way into a near-everyday role thanks to his red-hot bat, with Dylan Carlson losing out on playing time as a result. He'll pick up his sixth consecutive start in left field Sunday after going 13-for-22 with three doubles, a triple, three runs and three RBI over the past five contests.
Aug 24 2022Dickerson went 4-for-4 with a double in Wednesday's 7-1 loss to the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has feasted on Cubs pitching this week, going 8-for-9 with three doubles across two games. The rest of the Cardinals mustered just five hits in Wednesday's lopsided loss. The 33-year-old sudden success at the plate has added 36 points to his batting average, which is up to .268 with a .715 OPS through 61 contests. He's added four home runs, 21 RBI, 20 runs scored and 11 doubles this year in a part-time role as a reserve outfielder and designated hitter.
Aug 23 2022Dickerson went 4-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored in the Cardinals' win over the Cubs in Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson singled and scored in the top of the fourth before ripping an RBI double in the following frame. The outfielder later added two more hits including another double and came around to score again. Dickerson has now gone 9-for-17 with four doubles, two RBI and two runs over his last three starts.
Aug 17 2022Dickerson (calf) is starting Wednesday against the Rockies, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson wasn't in the lineup over the last four games due to left calf pain, but he'll start in left field and bat sixth Wednesday. Over eight games since the start of August, he's gone 4-for-14 with a double, a run, an RBI and three strikeouts.
Aug 13 2022Dickerson isn't starting Saturday against the Brewers due to left calf pain, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson was initially expected to play left field Saturday, but he'll be held out of the lineup due to a calf issue. He missed just over a month with a left calf injury earlier in the year, so he'll presumably be evaluated further to determine the extent of his current ailment.
Aug 11 2022Dickerson went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Thursday's 8-6 loss to the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson had an RBI single in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2. The 33-year-old has taken on a reserve role in August, starting in just four of nine games this month. He's gone 10-for-27 (.370) with a home run and five RBI across 10 games since the All-Star break, but it'll likely remain tough for the veteran to draw into the lineup regularly. He owns a .233/.278/.363 slash line with four homers, 20 RBI, 17 runs scored and seven doubles through 158 plate appearances this year.
Jul 31 2022Dickerson went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer, a double and two runs scored in Sunday's 5-0 win over Washington. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson doubled and scored a run in the third inning before doing major damage against Josiah Gray with a three-run shot in the fourth. The veteran outfielder has four multi-hit performances over his last nine games, collecting five extra-base hits and nine RBI during that stretch. On the year, he's slashing .226/.276/.361 with 19 RBI and 17 runs scored through 145 plate appearances.
Jul 14 2022Dickerson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Dickerson's absence from the lineup against a lefty starting pitcher (Tyler Anderson) doesn't come as a major surprise, but Dickerson (or Juan Yepez) will likely see his opportunities against right-handed pitching take a major hit moving forward with Tyler O'Neill (hamstring/wrist) back in action Thursday after a stint on the 10-day injured list. Dickerson started in each of the Cardinals' previous five games, going 4-for-17 with a home run, two doubles, two walks, three RBI and three additional runs.
Jul 12 2022Dickerson went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Monday's 6-1 win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: His two-run blast off Aaron Nola in the seventh inning gave the Cardinals some insurance runs. It was Dickerson's first homer in three games since returning from a month-long absence due to a calf injury and only his third of the season, but he appears to be the top option for manager Oliver Marmol in left field while Tyler O'Neill (hamstring/wrist) is on the shelf.
Jul 11 2022Dickerson will start in left field and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has now started in each of the Cardinals' three games since he was reinstated from the injured list Saturday. He went 0-for-6 with a pair of walks in the final two games of the weekend and should be able to hold down a regular spot in the lineup versus right-handed pitching until Tyler O'Neill (hamstring/wrist) is ready to come off the injured list.
Jul 9 2022Dickerson (calf) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and is starting Saturday's game against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson was on the injured list for just over a month, but he'll rejoin the lineup for Saturday's matchup. Tyler O'Neill (hamstring/wrist) remains on the IL, so Dickerson should see his fair share of playing time in left field in the near future. Prior to his absence, Dickerson slashed .194/.245/.286 with two homers, 11 runs and 11 RBI over 38 games.
Jul 8 2022Dickerson (calf) is back with the big-league club and will be activated from the injured list Saturday or Sunday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson started against most righties in the early part of the season but struggled to a .194/.245/.286 line in 38 games before straining his left calf. He's nearly ready to go after a month-long absence, though he may not have a regular role to return to due to the emergence of rookies Juan Yepez and Brendan Donovan.
Jul 5 2022Dickerson (calf) is set to resume his rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has had a couple of setbacks due to lingering soreness in his strained left calf. His rehab was paused June 24, but Denton reports the veteran outfielder will play five innings in right field for Memphis on Wednesday. Dickerson will likely need multiple games to get back up to speed and to prove that his calf is at full strength again.
Jun 24 2022Dickerson (calf) had his rehab assignment paused Friday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson resumed his rehab assignment Tuesday, but he's still dealing with a calf injury and is being examined further by the team's medical staff. Although he took batting practice Friday, it's not yet clear when he'll be able to head back to Triple-A Memphis to resume his rehab stint.
Jun 22 2022Dickerson (calf) went 2-for-2 with a double for Triple-A Memphis in its game Tuesday versus Indianapolis. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson's rehab assignment hit a setback over the weekend in the form of renewed soreness in his strained left calf, but he was only out for a couple of days. The veteran outfielder will likely need a few more rehab games, including potentially a start or two in the field, before he'd be ready to be activated from the 10-day injured list.
Jun 19 2022Dickerson is experiencing renewed soreness in his strained left calf, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI for Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, but the recurring soreness in his calf kept him out of the lineup over the weekend. Goold reports that the outfielder will try to resume his rehab Tuesday, but he'll likely need multiple appearances to prove his health and get his timing back at the plate. As such, it seems unlikely he'll be back during the upcoming four-game road series versus the Brewers.
Jun 16 2022Dickerson (calf) will report to Triple-A Memphis to begin a rehab assignment Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has been sidelined since exiting a June 4 game against the Cubs with a left calf strain. He had been starting to see more frequent starts as a designated hitter and corner outfielder prior to getting hurt, but Dickerson will likely have to settle for a lesser role once he's healthy. Since Dickerson was deactivated, the Cardinals have returned Tyler O'Neill and Dylan Carlson from the 10-day injured list, while rookies Nolan Gorman and Brendan Donovan have established themselves as everyday players.
Jun 14 2022Dickerson (calf) said Tuesday that he's hopeful to begin a minor-league rehab assignment next week, if not sooner, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson's comments came after he took part in straight-line running on the field for the second day in a row. The 33-year-old has also been taking batting practice of late, but running the curves of the basepaths and showing he can change direction in the outfield may be the final hurdles he needs to clear in his recovery from a left calf strain before the Cardinals send him out on a rehab assignment. With both Tyler O'Neill and Dylan Carlson beating him back from the 10-day injured list, Dickerson will likely have to settle for a reserve role once he's activated.
Jun 13 2022Dickerson (calf) took live batting practice and did some running on the field Sunday, Joe Harris of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has been on the shelf since June 5 after suffering a left calf strain while running from right field to the dugout. Manager Oliver Marmol said Dickerson will do some more running on the bases Monday before the Cardinals decide on his next steps.
Jun 5 2022Dickerson was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a left calf strain. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He hit .212 with two home runs over his last 10 games. Dickerson suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday's doubleheader. Lars Nootbaar should get extra playing time in the short term.
Jun 4 2022Dickerson (calf) isn't starting the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson exited Saturday's matinee in the middle of the second inning due to left calf discomfort and will be out of the lineup for the second game of the twin bill. Brendan Donovan is starting in left field and batting fifth, and Dickerson should tentatively be considered day-to-day.
Jun 2 2022Dickerson isn't starting Thursday against the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a strikeout Wednesday against the Padres, and he'll be out of the lineup for the third time in the last four games. Juan Yepez will take over in left field while Albert Pujols serves as the designated hitter.
May 31 2022Dickerson is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres, John Denton of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Dickerson was on the bench Monday against a right-handed starting pitcher (Nick Martinez), but his absence Tuesday comes with a lefty (Blake Snell) toeing the rubber for San Diego. Dickerson will likely continue to sit regularly versus southpaws, but he may still have a path to at least a part-time role against right-handed pitching, especially while both Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) and Dylan Carlson (hamstring) remain on the injured list.
May 30 2022Dickerson is not in the starting lineup for Monday's contest versus the Padres, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After starting two straight games, going 1-for-6 with a run scored, Dickerson will get a breather Monday. Albert Pujols will get the start at designated hitter and bat sixth as the team takes on Nick Martinez and the Padres.
May 22 2022Dickerson will start in left field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Pirates, John Denton of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has primarily been deployed as part of a platoon at designated hitter with Albert Pujols this season, but the latter will now pick up his second straight start in left field. With Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) on the injured list and Dylan Carlson (hamstring) at risk of joining him there, Dickerson could be in store for a near-everyday role in the corner outfield in the short term.
May 19 2022Dickerson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson picked up his second straight start in Wednesday's 11-4 loss, getting the nod in left field over the slumping Tyler O'Neill. He went hitless while striking out three times in four at-bats, dropping his season average to .185. Neither O'Neill (.193 average) nor Dickerson is making a strong case for an everyday role, so manager Oliver Marmol could be inclined to opt for a rotation in left field and designated hitter until a hot bat emerges. Albert Pujols will enter the lineup Thursday while both O'Neill and Dickerson are on the bench.
May 12 2022Dickerson is out of the lineup Thursday versus the Orioles, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson started at designated hitter Wednesday, going 1-for-2 with a double and run in the 10-1 win over the Orioles. Paul Goldschmidt will slide into the designated hitter role while Albert Pujols enters the lineup at first base and will bat fifth as the Cardinals try to take the rubber match Thursday.
May 7 2022Dickerson isn't starting Saturday against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson went 1-for-3 with a run and two strikeouts in Friday's loss to the Cardinals, and he'll be on the bench for the second time in the last three games. Juan Yepez will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth.
May 5 2022Dickerson isn't starting Thursday's game against the Giants, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Even though right-hander Mauricio Llovera is on the mound for San Francisco on Thursday, Dickerson will be out of the lineup for a third consecutive game. Juan Yepez will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth.
May 4 2022Dickerson isn't starting Wednesday against Kansas City, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson took a seat against a right-handed pitcher in Tuesday's series opener, but his absence from the lineup against southpaw Kris Bubic is less surprising. Albert Pujols will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup.
May 3 2022Dickerson is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals, John Denton of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Dickerson typically handles the strong side of a platoon at designated hitter, but he'll take a seat Tuesday in favor of the righty-hitting Albert Pujols even with Kansas City bringing a right-hander (Brad Keller) to the mound. Dickerson's move to the bench may just be a byproduct of the Cardinals wanting to find more work for Pujols, who has received only 20 plate appearances in seven games over the past two weeks.
Apr 26 2022Dickerson is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson typically serves as the Cardinals' designated hitter against right-handed pitchers like the Mets' Chris Bassitt, but he'll take a seat with Paul Goldschmidt getting a day out of the field. Brendan Donovan will pick up his first MLB start at first base while Goldschmidt serves as the DH.
Apr 24 2022Dickerson is not in the lineup for Sunday's game at Cincinnati. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson started the first two games of the series and went 2-for-7 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored, but he'll head to the bench with lefty Nick Lodolo starting for the Reds. Albert Pujols will bat fifth as the designated hitter Sunday.
Apr 21 2022Dickerson isn't starting Thursday's game against the Marlins, John Denton of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has hit just .133 with three RBI, two walks and two strikeouts this season, and he'll be out of the lineup for the third time in the last four games, even though right-hander Pablo Lopez is on the mound for the Marlins. Albert Pujols will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth.
Apr 19 2022Dickerson will be on the bench Tuesday against the Marlins, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Albert Pujols will get the start against lefty Jesus Luzardo. Dickerson hasn't started against any of the three southpaws the Cardinals have faced this season and has been in the lineup against just three out of six righties.
Apr 17 2022Dickerson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With southpaw Aaron Ashby on the hill for Milwaukee, the lefty-hitting Corey Dickerson will take a seat as platoon mate Albert Pujols handles designated-hitter duties. Over his three turns as St. Louis' DH this season, Dickerson has gone 2-for-11 with a walk and two RBI.
Apr 15 2022Dickerson isn't starting Friday's game against the Brewers, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson will be out of the lineup for a third consecutive game, even with right-hander Freddy Peralta starting for Milwaukee. Lars Nootbaar will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth.
Apr 14 2022Dickerson isn't starting Thursday's game against the Brewers, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Even though right-hander Brandon Woodruff is on the mound for the Brewers on Thursday, Dickerson will take a seat after going 1-for-8 with an RBI and two strikeouts in his first two appearances of the season. Albert Pujols will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth.
Apr 12 2022Dickerson will sit Tuesday against lefty Daniel Lynch and the Royals, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Cardinals gave Albert Pujols the honor of an Opening Day start, even though it came against a righty, but since then the team has gone with Dickerson against righties and Pujols against lefties. If that setup continues going forward, Dickerson could potentially start the next four games, as the Brewers are expected to face right-handers in all four.
Apr 11 2022Dickerson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates, John Denton of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson will take a seat for the second time in the four-game series after going 1-for-8 with an RBI between starts Friday and Saturday. He still appears locked in as the Cardinals' primary designated hitter, as the lefty-hitting Dickerson is expected to be the team's main option against right-handed pitching, while the lefty-hitting Albert Pujols picks up starts versus lefties. Both Dickerson and Pujols will rest Monday, however, with manager Oliver Marmol electing to give fourth outfielder Lars Nootbaar a look in the DH role against Pirates righty Zach Thompson.
Apr 7 2022Dickerson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Dickerson is expected to fill the larger portion of a platoon at designated hitter this season with the righty-hitting Albert Pujols, but it's the latter who will be in the Opening Day lineup with right-hander JT Brubaker on the bump for Pittsburgh. Manager Oliver Marmol's decision to insert Pujols into the lineup may just be designed to extend the future Hall of Famer's streak of Opening Day starts to 22, while also allowing the 42-year-old to get a warm reception from the home crowd as he begins his second stint in St. Louis. Dickerson's fantasy managers shouldn't panic too much about his absence from the lineup against a righty.
Mar 17 2022Dickerson signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals on Thursday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson spent time with the Marlins and Blue Jays in 2021 and worked mainly in the strong side of a platoon. He slashed .271/.326/.408 with six homers, 43 runs, 29 RBI and six stolen bases across 109 appearances between the two clubs and will compete with Tyler O'Neill for playing time during spring training.
Oct 3 2021Dickerson is on the bench for Sunday's game against the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: As usual, Dickerson is relegated to the bench with a southpaw starting for Baltimore. Given the importance of the game, however, he figures to replace starting right fielder Randal Grichuk if the Orioles bring in a righty reliever at some point.
Oct 2 2021Dickerson isn't starting Saturday's game against Baltimore. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has started against just six left-handers this season, and he'll retreat to the bench with southpaw John Means on the mound for the Orioles on Saturday. Teoscar Hernandez will shift to left field while Randal Grichuk takes over in right.
Sep 29 2021Dickerson will start in left field and bat seventh Wednesday against the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He'll put a six-game hitting streak on the line while he makes his fifth consecutive start in left field. Dickerson looks to have supplanted Randal Grichuk as a regular in the Toronto outfield versus right-handed pitching, but the lefty-hitting Dickerson is still expected to lose work to Grichuk against southpaws.
Sep 25 2021Dickerson went 1-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base in Saturday's 6-1 win over Minnesota. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 32-year-old isn't known for his speed, as he's now just 5-for-10 in stolen base attempts this year. Dickerson has hit safely in six of his last seven games, going 7-for-15 in that span, although only one of those hits has gone for extra bases. He's slashing .270/.328/.400 with five home runs, 26 RBI, 41 runs scored and 16 doubles in 344 plate appearances between Toronto and Miami this year. Dickerson could see a slight uptick in playing time as long as Lourdes Gurriel (hand) is out.
Sep 15 2021Dickerson isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's loss, and he'll be excluded from the lineup for the fourth time in the last five games. Randal Grichuk will start in center field and bat eighth. With a pair of back-to-back three-hit games, Grichuk may have at least temporarily supplanted Dickerson for an everyday spot in the outfield versus right-handed pitching.
Sep 13 2021Dickerson will sit for the third straight game Monday against the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson had been claiming a spot as the Blue Jays' primary center fielder earlier this month, starting five out of eight games there from Sept. 4 through Sept. 11. He hasn't started since then, but that may be purely for matchup reasons. Toronto's last two games came against left-handed starters, while southpaw Ryan Yarbrough is expected to handle the bulk of the innings Monday. Randal Grichuk remains the starter in center field.
Sep 12 2021Dickerson is on the bench for Sunday's series finale in Baltimore. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Consecutive hitless performances have lowered Dickerson's average to .250 with a double and an RBI in his last 10 games. Randal Grichuk is playing center field and batting sixth Sunday.
Sep 11 2021Dickerson isn't starting the second game in Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson started Saturday's matinee and went 0-for-3 with a run, a walk and a strikeout. Randal Grichuk will take over in center field and bat eighth.
Sep 10 2021Dickerson is not starting Friday against Baltimore. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He'll sit for the second night in a row as Jarrod Dyson mans center field. While Dickerson likely won't see everyday at-bats down the stretch, he should get ample opportunities against right-handed starters.
Sep 9 2021Dickerson isn't starting Thursday's game against the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has taken over as the primary center fielder recently, but he'll get a breather after he went 1-for-9 with five strikeouts across the last three games. Randal Grichuk will start in center field and bat seventh.
Sep 8 2021Dickerson will start in center field and bat leadoff Wednesday against the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson is unlikely to become a permanent fixture in Toronto lineup versus right-handed pitching if George Springer (knee) avoids another trip to the injured list, but at this point, Dickerson may have solidified an everyday role. He'll start in center field for the fourth time in five games, while the struggling Randal Grichuk has started only once during that span. Since returning from the injured list Aug. 3, Dickerson is slashing .277/.310/.470, with his .780 OPS representing a major upgrade over Grichuk's same mark (.571) in that sam stretch of action.
Sep 1 2021Dickerson went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-4 win over Baltimore. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The outfielder still hasn't broke even on stolen base attempts, as Wednesday's theft put him at 4-for-9 on the year. Dickerson is still solid with the bat, slashing .270/.325/.410 through 302 plate appearances between Toronto and Miami. He should continue to see a regular role against right-handed pitching while serving as Toronto's fourth outfielder.
Aug 29 2021Dickerson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Dickerson will take a seat for the series finale with southpaw Matthew Boyd on the bump for Detroit. Alejandro Kirk will get a turn as Toronto's designated hitter, while Lourdes Gurriel, Randal Grichuk and Teoscar Hernandez form the outfield from left to right.
Aug 18 2021Dickerson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: George Springer's (knee) move to the injured list should open up more playing time for Dickerson, but with the designated hitter not available in Washington, he'll head to the bench. When the Blue Jays resume American League play Friday, manager Charlie Montoyo will likely have Dickerson, Lourdes Gurriel, Randal Grichuk and Teoscar Hernandez fill out the three outfield spots and DH on a regular basis, at least versus right-handed pitching.
Aug 15 2021Dickerson (back) is starting in left field and batting fifth Sunday at Seattle. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson had been limited to bench duties since leaving Thursday's game with back tightness, but he'll rejoin the starting nine Sunday. The 32-year-old is slashing .276/.323/.414 in 11 games since making his Blue Jays debut Aug. 3.
Aug 12 2021Dickerson exited Thursday's game against the Angels with back tightness. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson left the game in the fourth inning, though it was termed a precaution. Based on initial reports, the injury doesn't seem to be serious, but Dickerson will likely undergo further testing Friday or shortly thereafter. Lourdes Gurriel took over in left field in Dickerson's place.
Aug 10 2021Dickerson will start in left field and bat sixth Tuesday in the first game of the Blue Jays' doubleheader with the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Since being activated from the 10-day injured list a week ago, Dickerson has now picked up starts in seven of the Blue Jays' eight games, going 5-for-18 with two doubles, two walks and a stolen base in his first six contests with Toronto. Though Dickerson doesn't have a lock on a regular role at designated hitter or in the corner outfield, he could hold down a near-everyday spot in the lineup while manager Charlie Montoyo staggers rest days for George Springer, Teoscar Hernandez, Lourdes Gurriel and Randal Grichuk. Gurriel will be the odd man out for the first game of the twin bill Tuesday.
Aug 3 2021The Blue Jays activated Dickerson (foot) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has been out with a foot injury since June 15, at which point he was still a member of the Marlins. Now, the outfielder is available to make his debut with the Blue Jays, who traded for him June 29. Dickerson slashed .263/.324/.380 with two home runs, 12 doubles and 14 RBI in 63 games before getting hurt.
Aug 2 2021Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said Dickerson (foot) is on track to return at some point during the team's four-game series with Cleveland that begins Monday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Toronto is expected to hold off on activating Dickerson ahead of the series opener, but the 32-year-old looks to be done with his minor-league rehab assignment, as he was seen taking batting practice in Toronto on Monday, according to Mitch Bannon of SI.com. During his four-game stint at Triple-A Buffalo last week, Dickerson went 4-for-15, and more importantly, incurred no setbacks with the left foot injury he suffered in mid-June. Though Dickerson had served as a near-everyday player for Miami prior to being traded June 29, he'll be relegated to a reserve role in Toronto while all of George Springer, Randal Grichuk, Teoscar Hernandez and Lourdes Gurriel are healthy.
Jul 28 2021Dickerson (foot) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's not yet clear how many rehab games Dickerson will require, but he could be on track return to the major-league club sometime during the first week of August. The 32-year-old has been on the injured list since June 15 due to a left foot injury, and he'll make his team debut with the Blue Jays once he's cleared to return. Dickerson has slashed .263/.324/.380 with two homers, 27 runs, 14 RBI and two stolen bases this year, and he'll likely serve as a depth option for Toronto.
Jul 26 2021Dickerson (foot) will begin a rehab assignment this week, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has been out since mid-June with a left foot injury, but he's been trending in the right direction over the past week and is nearly ready for game action. Depending on when exactly his rehab begins, he should have a shot to return sometime during the first week of August. He'll likely be a bat off the bench for the Blue Jays at that point, as he's been a slightly below-average hitter since the start of the 2020 season, but he could be a useful enough fantasy option if injuries open up regular playing time.
Jul 20 2021Dickerson (foot) took part in the Blue Jays' batting-practice session prior to Monday's 13-4 loss to the Red Sox, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The activity represents a sign of progress for Dickerson, who has yet to make his Blue Jays debut while he recovers from the left foot injury he suffered in mid-June while playing for the Marlins. Before his return from the 10-day injured list can be considered imminent, Dickerson will have to prove he can play the outfield and run the bases at full speed. Once reinstated, Dickerson will likely be limited to a depth role if all of George Springer, Randal Grichuk, Lourdes Gurriel and Teoscar Hernandez are healthy.
Jul 9 2021Dickerson (foot) no longer requires a walking boot on his left foot but remains without a timeline for his return, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 32-year-old was acquired by the Blue Jays from the Marlins in late June, and it's unclear when he's expected to take the field for his new team. Dickerson is going through his rehab work at Toronto's spring training facility, and at this point it's difficult to see him being activated before the end of July.
Jun 29 2021The Blue Jays acquired Dickerson and pitcher Adam Cimber from the Marlins on Tuesday in exchange for infielder Joe Panik and an undisclosed minor-league pitcher, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With Miami eager to hand regular at-bats in left field to rookie Jesus Sanchez for the remainder of the season, Dickerson -- who is set to become a free agent this offseason -- was deemed expendable. Before landing on the injured list June 15 with a left foot injury, Dickerson appeared in 63 games for Miami, slashing .263/.324/.380 with two home runs and two stolen bases across 225 plate appearances. The 32-year-old isn't expected to be back to full health until at some point after the All-Star break, but once he's ready to go, Dickerson will provide a lefty-hitting option for a Toronto outfield that currently lacks one. Even so, Dickerson will likely struggle to find steady at-bats while all of George Springer, Teoscar Hernandez, Randal Grichuk and Lourdes Gurriel are healthy.
Jun 22 2021Dickerson (foot) will be in a walking boot for three weeks before being reevaluated, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The timeline means Dickerson won't even be evaluated until the All-Star break. A clearer timeline for his recovery should emerge at that time.
Jun 15 2021Dickerson (foot) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has been out since injuring his foot by landing awkwardly on first base Sunday. His exact return timeline is unclear, but his absence could wind up being a long one, as manager Don Mattingly described the outfielder's MRI results as "not very promising."
Jun 14 2021Dickerson (undisclosed) is not in the lineup Monday at St. Louis. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson was removed from Sunday's matchup with Atlanta as a precaution due to an undisclosed injury, and he's on the bench Monday despite manager Don Mattingly indicating the left fielder is OK. The 32-year-old should be considered day-to-day while Magneuris Sierra receives the starting nod in left field.
Jun 13 2021Dickerson was removed from Sunday's loss to Atlanta as a precautionary measure due to an apparent injury, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson left Sunday's game after he landed on first base awkwardly while running out a grounder, but manager Don Mattingly said after the contest that the left fielder is fine. He should be considered day-to-day for now.
Jun 3 2021Dickerson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game in Pittsburgh, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Dickerson will bow out of the starting nine with southpaw Tyler Anderson on the bump for Pittsburgh. The Marlins will go with a pair of righty hitters (Adam Duvall and Garrett Cooper) as their corner outfielders for the series opener at PNC Park.
Jun 1 2021Dickerson is not starting Tuesday against the Blue Jays, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson's day off is unlikely a matchup-based decision, as the Marlins face Robby Ray and Dickerson has hit .310 off lefties this season. Regardless, Jon Berti gets the start in left field Tuesday.
May 22 2021Dickerson is on the bench for Saturday's game against the Mets, Joe Frisaro of ManOnSecondBaseball.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He gets a day off after going 1-for-6 with a strikeout Friday night. Dickerson's sitting is not immediately apparent to be a matchup-based decision, as the Mets have yet to announce a starting pitcher for Saturday's contest, but regardless, Adam Duvall gets the start in left field with Garrett Cooper playing right.
May 20 2021Dickerson went 1-for-3 with a double, two walks and three runs scored in Thursday's 6-0 win over Philadelphia. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson had a productive effort getting on base, and each time he did, he was brought home to account for half of Miami's runs. The 31-year-old outfielder has hit safely in three straight games, going 4-for-11 during this week's series versus Philadelphia. He's beginning to turn things around after a recent skid that has seen his batting average drop from .329 to .295 in May. Overall, Dickerson has a .295/.368/.395 slash line with one home run, eight RBI, 20 runs scored and two stolen bases in 144 plate appearances.
May 14 2021Dickerson will be on the bench against lefty Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers on Friday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has started against just two of the 13 southpaws the Marlins have faced this season. Adam Duvall will be the left fielder Friday, with Garrett Cooper starting in right.
May 11 2021Dickerson is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Diamondbacks, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He is hitting .304 with zero home runs in eight games this month. Adam Duvall and Garrett Cooper will start in left and right field, respectively, with southpaw Madison Bumgarner starting for Arizona.
May 7 2021Dickerson is not in the lineup Friday versus the Brewers, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson is 11-for-24 with eight walks over his last 10 games, but he finds himself on the bench for the second straight day Friday with lefty Brent Suter starting for Milwaukee. Adam Duvall, Magneuris Sierra and Garrett Cooper will start from left to right in the outfield for Miami.
May 6 2021Dickerson isn't starting Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks, Joe Frisaro of ManOnSecondBaseball.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson had recorded hits in each of the last three games and went 3-for-9 with four runs, two walks and a strikeout during that time. Adam Duvall will shift to left field while Garrett Cooper starts in right.
May 2 2021Dickerson (groin) is starting in left field and batting cleanup Sunday against the Nationals, Joe Frisaro of ManOnSecondBaseball.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 31-year-old missed the last two games after the groin issue popped up Thursday, but he'll rejoin the lineup for Sunday's series finale. Dickerson has a .325/.402/.455 slash line with one homer, five doubles, seven RBI and 11 runs through 26 games this season.
May 1 2021Dickerson (groin) isn't starting Saturday's game against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson exited Wednesday's game against Milwaukee due to right groin discomfort, and he'll be out of the lineup for a second straight contest. Adam Duvall will start in left field while Lewis Brinson takes over in center.
Apr 30 2021Dickerson (groin) will sit Friday against the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson left Wednesday's game against the Brewers with right groin discomfort. He'll sit Friday, though he likely would have sat anyway with the left-handed Jon Lester on the mound for the Nationals. Dickerson is expected to be available off the bench, but it will be Adam Duvall in left field to open the game with Lewis Brinson starting in center.
Apr 28 2021Dickerson was diagnosed with mild right groin discomfort after leaving Wednesday's game against the Brewers, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson left Wednesday's game in the bottom of the fourth inning and is considered day-to-day. He'll be able to rest Thursday since the Marlins have a scheduled day off prior to Friday's series opener in Washington. If Dickerson misses any additional time, Lewis Brinson and Magneuris Sierra are candidates to take his place in the lineup.
Apr 26 2021Dickerson went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and three RBI in Monday's 8-0 win over the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson started the game's scoring with an RBI double in the fourth before bringing home another run in the sixth. He then went deep for a solo blast off Phil Bickford in the eighth to tack on an insurance run. It was the first homer of the year for the veteran left-hander who is now slashing .333/.375/.467 in 80 plate appearances.
Apr 23 2021Dickerson isn't starting Friday's game against the Giants, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson had started each of the last three games and went 2-for-12 with a run and four strikeouts during that time. Adam Duvall, Lewis Brinson and Garrett Cooper will start in the outfield from left to right Friday.
Apr 22 2021Dickerson is starting in left field and batting fifth in the Marlins' lineup Thursday against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has hit leadoff for the team with right-handers on the mound to this point in the season. However, even with Aaron Sanchez on the mound, Dickerson was shifted down in the order. With Jazz Chisholm getting a long look at leadoff, Dickerson could slot into the fifth spot more regularly moving forward.
Apr 18 2021Dickerson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With the Marlins wrapping up their series against the Giants with a day game and with a southpaw (Alex Wood) on the hill for San Francisco, the lefty-hitting Dickerson will unsurprisingly bow out of the lineup. Miguel Rojas will get a turn as the Marlins' leadoff hitter while Dickerson is on the bench.
Apr 17 2021Dickerson went 4-for-6 with a run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 7-6 win over the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson was a tough out Saturday, reaching base four times via a single. In addition, Dickerson picked up his first stolen base of the season. The 31-year-old hasn't homered this year, but has 11 hits in his last four games. He is still batting .313 in 49 at-bats, making up for the lack of power with consistent contact.
Apr 13 2021Dickerson will sit Tuesday against Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has yet to start against a southpaw this season, and that pattern will continue against Max Fried on Tuesday. Adam Duvall will slide over to left field in his absence, with Garrett Cooper starting in right.
Apr 7 2021Dickerson went 2-for-3 with a walk and a double Wednesday against the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson reached base multiple times in a game for the first time this season, also collecting his second extra-base hit of the campaign. He's sat a few times with left-handers on the mound early on, which could continue to cut into some of his playing time move forward. When in the lineup, Dickerson has served as the team's leadoff hitter.
Apr 3 2021Dickerson remains on the bench Saturday against southpaw Rich Hill and the Rays, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Marlins have already faced two lefties in their first three games, and Dickerson has been on the bench against both of them. That pattern seems likely to continue going forward. Lewis Brinson will handle left field Saturday.
Apr 2 2021Dickerson is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rays, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson led off Thursday against righty Tyler Glasnow. With lefty Ryan Yarbrough on the mound Friday, he'll hit the bench, with Adam Duvall sliding to left field and Garrett Cooper entering the lineup in right. It wouldn't be at all surprising if that platoon setup remains the default alignment for the Marlins' corner outfield throughout the year.
Mar 26 2021Dickerson (shoulder) is starting in left field and batting leadoff in Friday's spring game against the Astros, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 31-year-old has been held out the past few days with a sore left shoulder, but he'll rejoin the lineup Friday. Dickerson is poised to begin the season as Miami's starter in left field and should be healthy for Opening Day.
Mar 24 2021Marlins manager Don Mattingly said Wednesday that Dickerson has been dealing with some shoulder soreness of late, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Miami will hold Dickerson out of Wednesday's "B" game as a result, but he could be available to serve as a designated hitter in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals. Mattingly doesn't seem concerned that the shoulder issue will jeopardize Dickerson's availability for Opening Day.
Feb 27 2021Dickerson feels a set of difficult circumstances off the field last season contributed to his career-worst performance at the plate, Jordan McPherson of The Miami Herald reports. "A lot of people turn on the TV and expect us to be machines," Dickerson said Friday. "They don't see what we're going through...It's just difficult." ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran outfielder's grandfather passed away during the regular season, while his father was also diagnosed with kidney cancer, in addition to all the turmoil created by the COVID-19 pandemic. The end result was a .402 SLG and .713 OPS for Dickerson, numbers significantly lower than the .499 and .828 marks he accumulated over the prior three seasons combined. If he can correct the flaws in his swing that crept in while his focus was understandably elsewhere, there's every reason to believe Dickerson will be able to return to his normal level of solid offensive performance.
Oct 1 2020Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in Wednesday win over the Cubs in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson's blast came off Kyle Hendricks with two outs in the top of the seventh and brought his team from down by one run to up by two. The game was the 31-year-old's first career playoff appearance in his eighth career big-league campaign.
Sep 26 2020Dickerson isn't in Saturday's lineup against the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson will get a day off Saturday after the Marlins clinched a playoff spot Friday. Magneuris Sierra will take over in left field.
Sep 23 2020Dickerson went 3-for-4 during the Marlins' 11-1 loss to the Braves on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: On a night where the Marlins failed to capitalize on 10 hits, Dickerson logged no other peripheral stats. The 31-year-old is slashing .264/.321/.421 with seven home runs on the campaign.
Sep 20 2020Dickerson is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Nationals, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson went 1-for-3 with a run during Game 1 and will take a seat with southpaw Ben Braymer pitching the nightcap for Washington. Matt Joyce and Lewis Brinson will start in the corner outfield spots in Game 2 for the Marlins.
Sep 18 2020Dickerson went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs during Friday's win in Game 2 of a doubleheader against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson went hitless in three at-bats during the first game of Friday's twin bill, but he got the Marlins off to a nice start with his home run to begin Game 2. He's now hitting .250 with seven home runs and 15 RBI this season.
Sep 16 2020Dickerson is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson sits against southpaw Mike Kickham. He's been in the lineup against the majority of the lefties the Marlins have faced this season, though he's now sat against the last two. Sean Rodriguez starts in left field on this occasion.
Sep 9 2020Dickerson isn't in Wednesday's lineup against Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson is currently riding a five-game hitting streak with extra-base hits in four of those five contests. He'll take a breather Wednesday with Lewis Brinson starting in left field.
Sep 6 2020Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a run scored Saturday as he helped the Marlins to a 7-3 win over the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson took Blake Snell deep to cap off a four-run fourth inning for his ballclub. The 31-year-old has homered in back-to-back games, increasing his total to six on the season, and he's hitting .225/.289/.405 across 111 at-bats in 2020.
Aug 29 2020Dickerson isn't starting Saturday against the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson went 0-for-7 over the past two games, and he'll get a day off Saturday. Lewis Brinson will start in left field with Jon Berti starting in center field.
Aug 24 2020Dickerson (shoulder) is in the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson left Sunday's game with a left shoulder contusion, but evidently he's feeling better as manager Don Mattingly has Dickerson playing left field and batting cleanup against right-hander Austin Voth. The 31-year-old Dickerson has homered in back-to-back games and has hit safely in eight straight, raising his slash line to .257/.316/.414 through 19 games.
Aug 23 2020Dickerson was removed from Sunday's game against the Nationals with a left shoulder contusion. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson went 2-for-2 with a solo homer before being replaced in the field for the fifth inning. The 31-year-old should be considered day-to-day until the Marlins update his status.
Aug 22 2020Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Saturday during a 5-3 win over the Nationals in the second game of a doubleheader. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: His blast off rookie Wil Crow got the Marlins on the board in the third inning. Expected to help anchor the heart of the batting order for Miami this year, Dickerson has instead had a sluggish start to the season, hitting .235 with two homers and only four RBI through 17 games.
Aug 18 2020Dickerson (personal) is starting Tuesday's game against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: As expected, Dickerson will return to the field after spending three days on the bereavement list. He'll serve as the designated hitter against the Mets and should be available for the Marlins going forward.
Aug 17 2020Dickerson (personal) is expected to return to the Marlins' lineup Tuesday, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson has been on the bereavement list since Saturday, but manager Don Mattingly said Monday that he expects him to return to the starting nine after being sidelined for three days. The 31-year-old has hit .208 with one home run and two RBI to begin the season.
Aug 15 2020Dickerson was placed on the bereavement list Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson was excluded from the lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta, and he'll miss several more days while on the bereavement list. Lewis Brinson and Magneuris Sierra could see an increase in playing time while Dickerson is sidelined. Infielder Lewin Diaz was recalled from the alternate training site in a corresponding move.
Aug 6 2020Dickerson is not in the lineup Thursday against the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson went just 1-for-8 with a double, two walks and three strikeouts in three starts since the Marlins returned to play. He'll get a day off for the series finale against Baltimore with Magneuris Sierra starting in left field and batting eighth.
Aug 4 2020Dickerson's teammate, Miguel Rojas, said Monday that the outfielder is healthy and will be among those available when the Marlins return to action Tuesday in Baltimore following an eight-day layoff due to a team-wide COVID-19 outbreak, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: A total of 18 Marlins have tested positive for the coronavirus in the aftermath of the season-opening series with Philadelphia, but at least 10 of the cases have involved members of the pitching staff (eight relievers along with starters Sandy Alcantara and Jose Urena), per Jackson. While some lineup regulars could still be unavailable for the four-game series in Baltimore, Dickerson's fantasy managers should be able to use him with confidence now that he's been confirmed as one of the healthy hitters. Dickerson started all three of Miami's games in Philadelphia, going 4-for-13 with a solo home run, a double and two additional runs.
Jul 28 2020Dickerson and the rest of the Marlins won't be taking the field for at least a week due to the team's COVID-19 outbreak, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Around half of the team's active roster has tested positive for the virus. It's not yet clear whether or not Dickerson is part of that group, but no Marlin will take the field until next Tuesday against the Phillies, as the rest of their schedule this week has been postponed.
Jul 26 2020Dickerson went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored Sunday against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson turned in his second multi-hit performance of the season, highlighted by his home run in the sixth inning off Nick Pivetta. He has hit third in each of the Marlins' first three games and figures to have the chance for an everyday role as a key member of the offense. Dickerson will look to keep his strong start going as the team begins a series with the Orioles on Monday.
Jul 13 2020Dickerson is expected to hit third and serve as the Marlins everyday left fielder during the 2020 season. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson recorded an impressive .906 OPS in 78-injury-riddled games with the Pirates and Phillies while battling a variety of hand and foot injuries. Having signed a two-year, $17.5 million deal with Miami in the offseason, the power-hitting outfielder will look to fulfill high expectations during his 2020 campaign. Dickerson will likely be slotted behind two decent OBP sources in Jonathan Villar and Brian Anderson who should provide plenty of RBI opportunities.
Mar 6 2020Dickerson has consistently hit third in the Marlins' early spring contests, a likely indication of the regular-season batting order, Jordan McPherson of The Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He's been slotted behind two decent OBP sources in Jonathan Villar and Brian Anderson, with Jesus Aguilar hitting cleanup behind Dickerson. The veteran outfielder was only healthy for 78 games last year, his lowest total in four seasons, but if Dickerson can stay on the field he could take a run at the career-high 76 RBI he tallied in 2014.
Feb 23 2020Dickerson (foot) is starting in center field and batting third in Sunday's Grapefruit League game versus the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 30-year-old missed the final three weeks of the 2019 campaign after breaking his left foot, but he joined Miami on a two-year, $17.5 million deal in December and is good to go early in spring training. Dickerson appeared in 78 games between the Pirates and Phillies last season and had a .304/.341/.565 slash line with 12 home runs and 28 doubles.
Dec 28 2019Dickerson (foot) signed a two-year, $17.5 million contract with the Marlins on Saturday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Marlins were reportedly in pursuit of Yasiel Puig to fill a corner-outfield spot next season, but they decided to go with Dickerson instead. Dickerson was traded from the Pirates to the Phillies last year, and he hit .304/.341/.565 with 12 home runs and 59 RBI over 78 games as he dealt with various injuries. The 30-year-old suffered a fractured left foot that kept him out for most of September last season, but he should be ready for spring training and will likely serve as the primary left fielder for the Marlins in 2020, although he could play a platoon role against left-handed pitchers.
Sep 17 2019Dickerson has been placed on the 60-day injured list and will miss the rest of the season due to a fractured left foot, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson suffered a foot injury during Wednesday's game, and although initial X-rays came back negative, the team has since announced that the outfielder is done for the year with a broken foot. Edubray Ramos (shoulder) was activated from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move. Jay Bruce, Nick Williams and Jose Pirela could see more time in left field down the stretch with Dickerson out of commission.
Sep 15 2019Dickerson (foot) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson was expected to rejoin Sunday's starting nine since manager Gabe Kapler said the left foot injury will likely be a "pain management issue," but he remains on the bench for the series finale. The 30-year-old will now have Monday's scheduled off day to provide some additional recovery time. Brad Miller will start in left field Sunday.
Sep 14 2019Dickerson (foot) is expected to return to the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Gabe Kapler said that it will likely be a "pain management issue" for Dickerson the rest of the way after an MRI showed a bruised navicular bone in Dickerson's left foot. It sounds like Dickerson will be able to tough it out against right-hander Rick Porcello, though the Phillies could always err on the side of caution and hold Dickerson out ahead of Monday's team off day.
Sep 12 2019Dickerson (foot) is not in Thursday's lineup against the Braves, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: X-rays came back negative on his sore foot, but he was still scheduled to undergo additional testing Thursday, so it's no surprise he is out of the starting nine. Adam Haseley starts in left field and will hit seventh.
Sep 11 2019Dickerson had X-rays on his left foot come back negative but will undergo additional imaging Thursday, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports. Sep 4 2019Dickerson (foot) told manager Gabe Kapler he'll be able to play in Thursday's series finale against the Reds, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dickerson was removed from Wednesday's contest during the fifth inning with left foot soreness. According to Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the 30-year-old sustained the injury when he fouled a ball off his foot earlier in the game, but it appears to be a minor issue as X-rays came back negative.

Jul 25 2018Dickerson (hamstring) is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Indians.Dickerson called the left hamstring injury he sustained in Tuesday's 9-4 victory "very mild," but the Pirates will err on the side of caution nonetheless and hold out their leadoff hitter for the series finale. Jordan Luplow checks into left field in place of Dickerson and will also fill the table-setting role.
Jul 24 2018Dickerson indicated the hamstring injury he suffered Tuesday against the Indians was "very mild," Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.Dickerson pulled up while running to first base and was replaced subsequently in left field by Jordan Luplow in the bottom of the fourth inning. The 29-year-old should be considered day-to-day and will be further evaluated Wednesday.
Jul 24 2018Dickerson exited Tuesday's game against the Indians with left hamstring discomfort.Dickerson went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, two runs and two RBI prior to leaving the game. The Pirates specified the injury as hamstring "discomfort" which seems to bode well for the severity of the injury, but more will be known as the 29-year-old undergoes further testing.
Jul 22 2018Dickerson belted a two-run homer Sunday, going 4-for-5 with three runs against the Reds.He now has five home runs in the last four games and has played a large factor in Pittsburgh's current nine-game winning streak. Dickerson has collected eight multi-hit performances in 16 July contests, including four straight. If he's on the trade market, then he's done nothing but increase his value over the last few weeks.
Jul 21 2018Dickerson hit his second homer in as many games Friday, going 2-for-6 with a solo home run in Cincinnati.Since seeing his batting average drift below the .300 mark at the end of June, Dickerson has slashed .352/.375/.667 with 10 extra-base hits in 56 plate appearances in July. He's even thrown in a couple stolen bases. The lefty moved into the leadoff slot July 9 and hasn't looked back. With 81 games in the outfield, Dickerson is approaching his career high of 105 games set in 2014 for Colorado. He remains a potential trade candidate and will be eligible for one final year of arbitration in 2019.
Jul 21 2018Dickerson went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs and a stolen base in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Reds. That's now four homers in three games sandwiched around the All-Star break for Dickerson, giving him 10 blasts on the year to go along with his .307/.341/.493 slash line. He's also providing some sneaky value on the basepaths -- he only has six steals on the season, but three of them have come in July.
Jul 16 2018Dickerson went 2-for-5 with a home run, double, two RBI and two runs Sunday in the Pirates' 7-6 win over the Brewers in 10 innings.Brewers starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin limited the Pirates to just one hit over 5.1 innings, with Dickerson's two-run blast in the third inning representing the only damage. It was only the seventh long ball of the campaign for Dickerson, who has implemented a more contact-oriented approach after collecting 24 or more home runs in each of the last three seasons he has played at least 130 games. Thanks to a dramatic drop in his strikeout rate down to a career-best 12.8 percent this season, Dickerson has maintained a .306 average, by far his best mark since leaving the favorable confines of Coors Field.
Jul 14 2018Dickerson is not starting the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Brewers.Dickerson will sit after starting the day's first game. Jordan Luplow will start in left field.
Jul 11 2018Dickerson is not in the lineup against the Nationals on Wednesday, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.Dickerson will retreat to the bench with left-hander Gio Gonzalez on the hill for Washington. In his place, Jordan Luplow will draw a start in left field and bat seventh.
Jul 6 2018Dickerson went 3-for-4 with a triple and one RBI in Friday's loss to the Phillies.Dickerson drove in a run during the third inning on a single to left, but Philadelphia would pull away late in the game. Despite his team's struggles, Dickerson has been able to put together a .309/.343/.460 batting line, although his power numbers are lacking following a 27 home run season in 2017.
Jul 4 2018Dickerson is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers.Pirates manager Clint Hurdle will hold out two of his key lefty hitters (Dickerson and Josh Bell) with southpaw Rich Hill on the mound for Los Angeles in the series finale. Dickerson's move to the bench opens a spot up in the outfield for Starling Marte, who had been on the bench for each of the last three games.
Jul 1 2018Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, two runs scored and a stolen base Sunday against the Padres.Dickerson drove an offering from Tyson Ross over the right field wall in the second inning for his sixth home run of the season. It was his first home run since May 4, and after slugging .538 in April and .465 in May, he recorded just a .303 mark in June. Similarly, his stolen base was his first since May 2, and he had not attempted a steal since June 5. While he is still playing regularly, Dickerson has started to lose some at-bats due to his drawn out struggles.
Jun 30 2018Dickerson is not in the lineup Saturday against San Diego. After a hot start to the season, Dickerson has cooled off lately, hitting .191 with a .474 OPS over his last 14 games. He could be in danger of losing time to Austin Meadows, who starts in left field Saturday.
Jun 30 2018Dickerson went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Friday against the Padres. He 's hitting .191 in his last 47 at-bats with two extra-base hits (both doubles) and no RBI. Dickerson hit .319 in his first 229 at-bats, but has a history of extreme streaks. He's struggling right now and recently missed time to be with his ailing father. Dickerson, who averaged 26 homers with Tampa Bay over the last two seasons, has hit five home runs for the Pirates in 2018.
Jun 26 2018Dickerson is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Mets.Dickerson has cooled off somewhat, posting a .594 OPS in the month of June after recording an .836 OPS through the first two months of the season. The Pirates will want to get rookie Austin Meadows and his .900 OPS into the lineup as often as possible, and Dickerson will be the one to make way Tuesday.
Jun 23 2018Dickerson was reinstated from the Family Medical Emergency Leave list prior to Saturday's game against Arizona.Dickerson missed the past three days while on family leave but is expected to return to the starting lineup for Saturday's contest after arriving in Pittsburgh just hours before the first pitch. In a corresponding move, Adam Frazier was sent down to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Jun 20 2018Dickerson was placed on the Family Medical Emergency Leave list on Wednesday.Players on the list must miss between three and seven days, so Dickerson could return as soon as Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks or as late as next Wednesday's contest against the Mets. Adam Frazier was called up in a corresponding move. Sean Rodriguez will take Dickerson's place in left field Wednesday against the Brewers.
Jun 13 2018Dickerson is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.Dickerson has had a very good season so far, hitting .311/.344/.466 and cutting his strikeout rate to 11.5 percent after it sat north of 19 percent in each of the first five seasons of his career. Austin Meadows will start in left field in his place.
Jun 9 2018Dickerson is not in the lineup against the Cubs on Saturday, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.Dickerson will retreat to the bench with left-hander Jon Lester on the bump for Chicago during Saturday's matinee. In his stead, Austin Meadows will get a start in the outfield and bat second. Over 58 games this year, Dickerson is hitting .321 with an .843 OPS.
Jun 6 2018Dickerson went 3-for-4 with four runs scored in Wednesday's 11-9 win over the Dodgers. He was effectively the Pirates' good-luck charm in this one, reaching base and scoring in each of the four innings the team was able to produce any offense. Dickerson has a modest six-game hitting streak going during which he's gone 11-for-25 (.44), pushing his slash line on the year back up to .324/.359/.495.
Jun 3 2018Dickerson is not in the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals.Dickerson has compiled six hits in his last four starts but will find himself on the bench as manager Clint Hurdle continues to find ways to get Austin Meadows' bat in the lineup. Dickerson and Gregory Polanco figure to continue surrendering some playing time in the outfield for as long as Meadows' bat stays hot.
Jun 2 2018Dickerson went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Friday's win over the Cardinals.Dickerson recorded an RBI double -- his 16th of the year -- off reliever Sam Tuivailala in the eighth inning. Dickerson now has 24 extra-base hits this season, and is slashing .314/.349/.495 with 32 RBI and 26 runs scored. He's so far proven to be a consistent hitter this year, hitting .323 in April and .307 in May.
May 29 2018Dickerson is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs.Dickerson will head to the bench as the Pirates go with a primarily right-handed hitting lineup against lefty Jon Lester. Sean Rodriguez will start in left field and hit sixth in his stead Tuesday.
May 28 2018Dickerson went 1-for-3 in Monday's loss to the Cubs.Hits were hard to come by for the Pirates during Monday's matchup, as Dickerson accounted for one of Pittsburgh's two hits on the day. He's putting together a solid season through 49 games, batting .311 with five home runs and 31 RBI.
May 27 2018Dickerson is not in the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals. The Pirates are expected to employ a four-man outfield for the time being with top prospect Austin Meadows currently swinging a hot bat following his mid-May promotion. Dickerson, who is hitting .310 this month, will find himself on the bench Sunday with Meadows taking over in left field.
May 23 2018Dickerson, who went 0-for-3 with a walk Tuesday, is batting .200/.238/.275 in his last 42 plate appearances. The outfielder is a notoriously streaky hitter. His recent slump may be nothing more than a blip but it's interesting to note his OPS has slipped nearly 100 points (.922 to .826) since May 8. He's set to bat his customary fifth in the lineup Wednesday against Homer Bailey and the Reds.
May 11 2018Dickerson is not in the lineup Friday against the Giants.Dickerson is off to an excellent start this season, batting .323/.361/.534 through 144 plate appearances. It doesn't appear to be a fluke, as his .328 BABIP exactly matches his career figure. Instead, he's simply stopped striking out, cutting his strikeout rate from 24.2 percent last season to just 9.7 percent so far this year. Sean Rodriguez will start in left field in his place Friday.
May 9 2018Dickerson went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's win over the White Sox.He also struck out and was caught stealing for the first time all year, but it was otherwise a terrific night for the 28-year-old. Dickerson has now recorded two RBI in five of the last seven games, and is hitting .400 (12-for-30) with a pair of home runs over that stretch. His 26 RBI rank fifth in the National League, and hitting fifth on a regular basis should provide him with plenty more run-producing opportunities to come.
May 5 2018Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk in Friday's win over the Brewers. The home run was Dickerson's third within the last five games, and he now has 22 RBI and 18 runs on the season. The 28-year-old's slash line stands at .313/.357/.539, and he's struck out just 12 times against 11 walks in 115 at-bats. Dickerson has been a welcome addition to a Pirates club that currently has the fifth-best batting average (.255) in the majors.
Apr 27 2018Dickerson went 1-for-4 and hit a walk-off homer against the Tigers on Thursday. The left fielder has seven hits in his last 18 at-bats and is slashing .314/.348/.500 in 92 plate appearances. Although he's collected four assists while playing left field, opponents are running on him at will. Despite his defensive shortcomings, Dickerson will likely continue to receive steady playing time in left because of his offense. He's batted fifth in the team's lineup in all but two of his starts.
Apr 25 2018Dickerson is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Tigers.Dickerson will get off for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader after going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored in Game 1. Sean Rodriguez will start in left field and bat leadoff in his stead.
Apr 18 2018Dickerson is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Rockies. With an 0-for-4 showing Tuesday, Dickerson saw his 11-game hit streak draw to a close. Over that stretch, Dickerson slashed an incredible .432/.458/.705 while chipping in 11 RBI, nine runs and two stolen bases. He'll remain a mainstay in the heart of the order against right-handed pitching, but Dickerson will occasionally receive days off against southpaws, as will be the case Wednesday with lefty Kyle Freeland twirling for Colorado.
Apr 17 2018Dickerson extended his hitting streak to 11 games Monday, going 1-for-4 against the Rockies.Batting nearly exclusively out of the fifth spot, he's hitting .432 in 44 at-bats over his hot stretch. Dickerson also picked up a league-leading fourth assist Monday, throwing out a runner at second base. While he hit .337 in his first 255 at-bats last season, the 28-year-old slumped to just .240 over his final 356 plate appearances.
Apr 15 2018Dickerson went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Sunday's victory against the Marlins.Dickerson has been dominant in the month of April. After playing in 12 games, he's recorded 11 RBI and scored nine runs. The opposition has struggled to keep him off base, as Dickerson has had at least one hit in each of his last 10 games, with six of those being multi-hit efforts.
Apr 13 2018Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a double and a run in the Pirates' 7-2 loss to the Marlins on Friday. After getting a day off in Pittsburgh's game against the Cubs on Wednesday, Dickerson has picked up right where he left off, logging two more hits against Miami to bring his slash line up to a ridiculous .356/.396/.622 in 45 at-bats for his new club. In his first 11 games with Pittsburgh, Dickerson has bagged multiple hits in five of them and he's hitting so well right now it's offset the fact that he only has one home run, despite being known primarily for his power. He'll cool down eventually but anyone reaping the benefits of this early-season hot streak should continue to do so.
Apr 11 2018Dickerson is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Cubs.Dickerson is off to a strong start in his first season as a Pirate -- .342 batting average, nine RBI -- but he'll head to the bench for a night off with lefty Jon Lester taking the hill for Chicago. Sean Rodriguez will pick up a start in left field to replace him.
Apr 10 2018Dickerson went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI in Tuesday's victory over the Cubs.Tuesday's game extended Dickerson's streak of games with a hit to six, with four of those contests being multi-hit efforts. He's been a force to be reckoned with in that time, as he's recorded eight RBI over said games and lifted his batting average up to .342.
Apr 8 2018Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday against the Reds.Dickerson followed a Gregory Polanco two-run home run Sunday with a solo shot of his own, his first of the season. He has hit fifth in the lineup and been productive with multiple extra-base hits that have led to seven RBI and six runs scored in the early going. The cold weather and change in park haven't slowed him, a positive indicator for his production going forward.
Apr 6 2018Dickerson went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI to help the Pirates to a 14-3 win over the Reds on Friday.Dickerson has yet to leave the yard in 2018 after hitting 27 homers for Tampa Bay last season, but he brought his slash line with his new club to .320/.346/.520 through 25 at-bats with the three-hit effort. That's good for an .866 OPS that he probably won't maintain all season, but even if he matches last season's .815 mark that he posted with the Rays, Dickerson could be an under-the-radar useful fantasy tool assuming he eventually finds his power stroke.
Apr 1 2018Dickerson will be on the bench for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Tigers.Dickerson went 0-for-4 in the Pirates' 1-0 victory in the first game of the day, dropping his season average to .100. He'll take a seat for Game 2 with a left-hander in Ryan Carpenter twirling for the Tigers, opening up a spot in left field for Sean Rodriguez.
Mar 28 2018Dickerson will start in left field and bat fifth against the Tigers on Thursday. The recently acquired outfielder is batting .600 in 10 at-bats against Zimmermann with two doubles and a home run. Dickerson batted .348 in 46 spring at-bats, though he compiled a 0:9 BB:K with no homers. He's expected to serve as Pittsburgh's everyday left fielder. Manager Clint Hurdle added that Dickerson could see time batting leadoff, occasionally.
Mar 4 2018Dickerson, who made his spring debut Saturday, went 0-for-2 and batted second against Philadelphia, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. He's expected to start in spacious left field at PNC Park and hit at or near the top of the lineup. "There could be opportunities there (batting leadoff), but it's too early for me to commit to one spot," manager Clint Hurdle said. "I just like the fact that he's moved around and he's open-minded. Once we get him in a spot we'd probably like to leave him in a spot, not to continue to moving him." Dickerson will be counted upon to help replace the offensive void left by the absence of Andrew McCutchen. His ability to play an adequate left field remains the biggest question mark surrounding the 28-year-old.
Feb 22 2018Dickerson was traded to the Pirates in exchange for Daniel Hudson, Tristan Gray and cash considerations Thursday.A trade was expected after Dickerson was designated for assignment by the Rays, and that expectation has indeed become reality. The 28-year-old produced a solid .282 batting average last season to go with 27 home runs, but he struggled down the stretch and batted just .241 in the second half. That said, Dickerson looks like the favorite to open the season as Pittsburgh's starting left fielder even with his struggles at the tail-end of last season. With the Pirates selling off some of their top assets (such as Andrew McCutchen), Dickerson will likely get a prime spot in the heart of their batting order.
Jan 12 2018Dickerson agreed to a one-year, $5.95 million deal with the Rays on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Robert Murray of FanRag Sports reports. This marked the second year as an arbitration-eligible player for Dickerson, who received a $2.925 million raise from last offseason. During the 2017 campaign, the outfielder slashed .282/.325/.490 with 27 home runs and 62 RBI in 150 games. For fantasy purposes, Dickerson remains a cheap power bat, but with the shortcomings of the Rays' offense, RBI and runs may be hard to provide.
Oct 2 2017Dickerson went 3-for-4 in Sunday's season-ending 6-0 win over the Orioles.Dickerson wrapped up the season the way he started it, as Sunday's multi-hit effort was his third straight and fifth in the final seven contests. Dickerson takes an .809 OPS, 27 homers, 62 RBI and 83 runs into the final week of the season.
Sep 26 2017Dickerson is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.Left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery is starting for the Yankees, so Dickerson will get the day off. Peter Bourjos will bat ninth and start in left field in his place.
Sep 23 2017Dickerson went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a run in Friday's 8-3 win over the Orioles.Dickerson has been mired in a miserable second half that is in stark contrast to the stellar production he generated prior to the All-Star break. Friday's tally represented only his third multi-hit effort of September and still leaves his monthly line at an unsightly .151/.182/.264. Dickerson's biggest downturns have been in contact rate and wOBA, as he's seen his strikeout rate rise from 21.4 percent to 29.1 percent and his wOBA drop from .376 to .279 in the second half.
Sep 20 2017Dickerson is out of the lineup Thursday against the Cubs, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.Dickerson regularly sits out when Tampa Bay faces a lefty, and Thursday will be no exception as Jon Lester is starting for the Cubs. He also scored twice.Dickerson snapped out of the 0-for-11 slump that had encompassed his previous four games in fine fashion, posting his first extra-base hits since Aug. 26. That contest was also the last time Dickerson had homered and tallied an RBI. While he's cooled off from a red-hot first half, the 28-year-old still has a career high in round trippers (26) is just five doubles away from eclipsing the high-water mark of 36 he'd tallied last season in his first Rays campaign.

Aug 23 2017Dickerson went 2-for-4 with his 23rd home run of the year against the Jays on Tuesday. After flirting with the Mendoza Line for the first half of last season, Dickerson heated up in the second half and mostly hasn't looked back since. However, he's in the midst of a rough August in which he's gone just 14-for-76 (.184) with two homers; perhaps Tuesday's big blast will get him going again.

Aug 16 2017Dickerson will start in left field and bat sixth Wednesday against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.Dickerson had manned the leadoff spot for the previous seven games, but after going 4-for-32 (.125 average) during that time, he'll be moved down in the order in favor of Brad Miller. The door isn't completely closed on Dickerson settling back in atop the lineup, though he'll may need to string together several quality performances at the dish before manager Kevin Cash revisits the situation.
Aug 11 2017Dickerson went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run during Thursday's win over Cleveland.Dickerson has really cooled down and owns an underwhelming .678 OPS in the second half. Aug 8 2017Dickerson is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.Dickerson will head to the bench as manager Kevin Cash looks to stack righty bats against the lefty-throwing Chris Sale. Jul 21 2017Dickerson went 3-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Friday's extra-inning loss to the Rangers. It's Dickerson 18th homer of the year but his first in almost a month, and he'd produced a sluggish .233/.269/.315 slash line in 19 games between blasts. The 28-year-old is still on pace for his best campaign since leaving Colorado, but without the benefit of playing his home games at Coors Field a second-half fade remains a distinct possibility.

The slugger hasn't gone deep since June 24, but he has racked up six doubles over his first 10 games of July. Despite a sluggish start to the month overall (.222/.256/.389 over 36 at-bats), Dickerson's season line of .315/.357/.551 is composed of a career-best average and the second-best OBP and slugging percentage of his career.

Jul 6 2017Dickerson is not in the lineup Thursday against the Red Sox, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The first-time All Star has started Tampa Bay's last 21 games, and with stud southpaw Chris Sale toeing the rubber for the series opener, Dickerson will head to the bench for a routine night off. The 27-year-old has a trio of multi-hit efforts in his last five games as well and is now just three runs shy of equaling the 57 he scored all of last season. Furthermore, despite the fact that he's tailed off some at the plate after a red-hot first two months, Dickerson is still sporting an impressive 27.4 percent line drive rate and 34.4 percent hard contact rate in 82 June plate appearances.
Jun 20 2017Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Reds. He's cooled off a little in June, but Dickerson is still hitting .286 (20-for-70) on the month with four homers, 11 RBI and 11 runs in 17 games. He also walked and scored once.Dickerson's seventh-inning sacrifice fly plated Mallex Smith with what turned out to be the winning run and gave him his second multi-RBI effort of the four-game series. The 26-year-old has cooled off a bit to start June after hitting a red-hot .349 in May, but he's still hit safely in seven of the first nine games of the month.
Jun 10 2017Dickerson went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Friday's 13-4 win over the Athletics. The slugging outfielder ceded the leadoff spot to new arrival Mallex Smith and provided a 427-foot shot in the fifth that gave the Rays a 13-0 lead at the time. Dickerson may be carrying a rather ordinary .267 over his first seven games of June, but he's still hit safely in six of those contests and 13 of the last 14 overall.
Jun 10 2017Dickerson is not in the lineup for the second game of the doubleheader Saturday, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.Dickerson went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts during game one and was replaced by Peter Bourjos in the top of the ninth inning. Jun 4 2017Dickerson went 1-for-3 with a leadoff home run in Saturday's 9-2 loss to the Mariners.Dickerson's 361-foot blast to open the game gave the Rays what turned out to be fleeting optimism, as the Mariners eventually responded with a barrage of runs against overwhelmed starter Alex Cobb. However, the hits do keep coming for the 27-year-old slugger, who is forging an MVP-caliber campaign with a .342/.384/.613 line that includes 17 doubles, two triples, 13 homers, 26 RBI and 42 runs. Saturday's round tripper also extended Dickerson's hitting streak to nine games, and he's hit safely in 15 of his last 16 contests overall.

The slugger's May has been even better than his spectacular opening month, as he's now slashing .357/.398/.600 with 14 extra-base hits (six doubles, two triples, six homers) and 15 RBI over 123 plate appearances.
May 28 2017Dickerson went 4-for-8 with two runs scored and an RBI in Sunday's 8-6 win over the Twins in 15 innings. The four-hit effort from the leadoff spot raised Dickerson's slash line to .337/.380/.608 on the season. The 28-year-old is in the midst of a breakout season in his second year in Tampa with 12 dingers and 24 RBI in 214 plate appearances. However, his abnormally high .393 BABIP and career-high 42.8 percent groundball rate scream regression. Dickerson could easily have a great season, but he's bound to tail off at some point and is a decent sell-high candidate.
May 27 2017Dickerson is out of the lineup Saturday against the Twins, FOX Sports Sun's Alex Corddry reports. He will take his customary seat on the bench with lefty Adalberto Mejia on the hill for the Twins. Rickie Weeks will start at DH and hit seventh.
May 22 2017Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Monday's loss to the Angels. The bomb was Dickerson's sixth during his current six-game hitting streak, as he continues to post elite May numbers. For the month, Dickerson has registered a hit in all but two games, and the heater has him up to 12 home runs, 23 RBI, 31 runs and a .345/.394/.644 slash line for the season. Counting on Dickerson cooling down is advised, but it would take a significant decline before it becomes a fantasy concern.
May 20 2017Dickerson went 2-for-3 with four RBI from a solo home run and three-run blast while also walking once and scoring thrice in Saturday's 9-5 win over the Yankees.Dickerson's mammoth 447-foot shot in the fourth plated Daniel Robertson and Jesus Sucre to give the Rays a 6-3 lead that they wouldn't relinquish. The 27-year-old slugger is turning in an MVP-caliber first half of the season and now has five homers and nine RBI in his last four games. Dickerson also has a pair of hits in each of those contests and has reached safely in 26 of his last 27 games overall.
May 17 2017Dickerson, who went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Indians, now has three homers over his last two games.Dickerson has been outstanding all season irrespective of where he's slotted in the Rays order, after a recent long-ball drought, is starting to rediscover his power stroke. The 27-year-old also has multi-hit outings in three of his last four games and is already exceeding the production he generated in an impressive opening month of the season. Factoring in Wednesday's production, Dickerson is now hitting .343 through his 75 plate appearances in May.
May 15 2017Dickerson went 4-for-6 with a double, a triple and two runs during Sunday's win over the Red Sox.Dickerson sports an eight-game hitting streak with a .455/.500/.667 slash line and is up to 21 runs, 20 extra-base hits, 13 RBI and a .963 OPS for the campaign. Even during his career-best season in 2014 while playing his home games at Coors Field, his numbers weren't this good. The 27-year-old outfielder is in the heart of his prime, too.
May 13 2017Dickerson is out of the lineup Saturday against lefty Chris Sale, Marc Topkin of Tampa Bay Times reports. He typically sits against southpaws, so it makes sense that he heads to the bench against the best lefty in the American League. Rickie Weeks gets the start at designated hitter and will hit cleanup.
May 9 2017Dickerson went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run in Monday's 7-3 loss to the Royals. The 27-year-old continues to produce, with Monday's multi-hit effort his second of May and fourth over the last 10 games. While he hasn't homered since April 28, a drop in strikeout rate (24.5 percent to 21.1 percent), corresponding rise in contact rate (74 percent to 77 percent) and huge bump in BABIP (.287 to .372) have his OBP at a career-high .367.
May 3 2017Dickerson is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Marlins. With lefty Adam Conley on the hill for the Marlins, the Rays will go with a righty-heavy approach. Evan Longoria, who is returning from a sore foot, will get the start at DH and hit third in Dickerson's absence.
Apr 30 2017Dickerson went 2-for-4 in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays.It doesn't seem to matter where he's deployed in the order at this point, as Dickerson continues to offer some of the best all-around production of his career. A five-percent decrease in strikeout rate has helped lead to a .374 OBP that is higher than any he's ever produced in a season, while his .651 slugging also represents a high-water mark. While his .371 BABIP would imply that he's due for a regression at some point, Dickerson has yet to show any hint of it. He's now reached safely in eight straight, with five multi-hit efforts over that span.
Apr 29 2017Dickerson went 2-for-5 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 7-4 win over the Blue Jays. The 27-year-old continues to put up numbers reminiscent of his Coors Field days, slashing .329/.368/.659 through 22 games with six homers, 10 RBI and 13 runs scored. Dickerson's production might increase if he moved into the heart of the Rays' batting order, but his current role as the leadoff hitter should at least afford him plenty of plate appearances.
Apr 25 2017Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a leadoff solo home run in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Orioles.Dickerson isn't your traditional leadoff hitter, but it's impossible to argue with the results he's generated at the top of the order thus far. The left-handed slugger is now slashing .324/.367/.635 over his first 79 plate appearances and has five multi-hit efforts over his last eight contests. His power stroke is as potent as ever, with Dickerson now having gone deep twice in the last four games. The 27-year-old's offseason weight loss -- an endeavor intended to, among other things, boost his bat speed -- seems to be paying dividends in that regard, as his strikeout and contact rates (21.5 percent and 77 percent, respectively) have seen three-point boosts in the early going over last season's numbers.
Apr 25 2017Dickerson is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.Left-hander Wade Miley is taking the hill for Baltimore, so manager Kevin Cash thought it would be a good time to give Dickerson a night off despite picking up five hits in his last four games. Rickie Weeks will take over as the designated hitter for the evening.
Apr 21 2017Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday's loss to the Astros.Dickerson's fourth homer of the season got the Rays on the board in the first inning of a game they'd go on to lose. After launching 24 homers last season, he's been red-hot this April, and the 27-year-old certainly has the ability to put up a big fantasy season in his second year with Tampa Bay.
Apr 20 2017Dickerson is out of the lineup Thursday against the Tigers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.Dickerson has started four straight games, three in left field and one in the DH spot, but will be held out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale. With southpaw Daniel Norris on the hill for Detroit, manager Kevin Cash will play matchups and give Dickerson's lefty bat a rest.
Apr 18 2017Dickerson returned to the top of the order for Monday's 4-3 loss to the Red Sox and went 2-for-5 with a run.Dickerson continued producing in his return to his usual leadoff role, and Monday's two hits upped his average to a stellar .340. With his OBP up to an impressive .389 as well and hits in all but one start this season, the 27-year-old slugger presents as a near-ideal option for the top of the order at the moment.
Apr 17 2017Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Red Sox.Dickerson continues to thrive regardless of where he slots in the order, with Sunday's production bringing his average to .333. His solo homer was his first round tripper since April 9 and he's now reached safely in five straight games. Dickerson has racked up five multi-hit games as well, while both his strikeout rate (22.4 percent) and contact rate (76 percent) have seen slight improvement thus far compared to last season's respective 24.5 and 74 percent figures. A bump in walk rate from 2016's 6.0 percent to his current 8.2 percent has also helped the slugger tally a career-high .388 OBP over his first 49 plate appearances.
Apr 15 2017Dickerson is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox.With the Red Sox turning to lefty Chris Sale on Saturday, Dickerson will hit the bench while the right-handed Rickie Weeks draws in at DH. Dickerson has actually fared reasonably well against southpaws in a limited sample this season, but his track record against them suggests that some regression could be on the way. He could sit out again Sunday with the Red Sox starting another lefty in Drew Pomeranz.
Apr 14 2017Dickerson went 2-for-4 in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees.Dickerson continues to quietly produce out of the leadoff spot, with Thursday's contributions bringing his average to .324. The 27-year-old is making good on his goal of wielding a quicker bat this season, which has been made possible in large part by Dickerson's 25-pound weight loss this past offseason. He now has hit safely in seven of his last eight games, with three doubles, two home runs and five RBI over that span.
Apr 7 2017Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a double in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays. The 27-year-old slugger dropped approximately 20 pounds this offseason with a goal of improving his bat speed, and the results thus far appear to validate the effort he put in. Dickerson has hit safely in all three of his starts and has back-to-back multi-hit games while operating out of the leadoff spot. If early returns are any indication, Dickerson could be set to provide handsome returns in his second Rays season, particularly if an increase in batting average and OBP don't come at the expense of his power numbers.
Apr 5 2017Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a leadoff home run and an RBI single in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Yankees. He took Michael Pineda's third pitch of the game to deep left-center field, staking the Rays to a quick lead. Dickerson got platooned against CC Sabathia on Tuesday, a trend which could cut into his RBI and run-scoring opportunities over the course of the season if it continues, but his power potential against right-handed pitchers still gives him solid fantasy value.
Apr 4 2017Dickerson is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. With the left-handed CC Sabathia starting for New York, the Rays will look to get an extra righty in the lineup and start Daniel Robertson over Dickerson at the DH spot. Look for Dickerson to return to action Wednesday, as Michael Pineda is scheduled to start for the Yankees.
Apr 2 2017Dickerson will hit first in the order and man the DH spot Sunday against the Yankees, MLB.com's Bill Chastain reports.Rays manager Kevin Cash plans to go with a platoon approach at the leadoff spot to begin the season, so it appears Dickerson will be the team's primary option against right-handed starters, while Tim Beckham likely receives the nod against southpaws. Dickerson, a career .244/.290/.354 hitter against lefties, will likely find himself out of the lineup entirely on those occasions.
Mar 17 2017Dickerson is a candidate to be part of a leadoff platoon this coming season, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. "We're trying to narrow (it down),'' manager Kevin Cash said. "I don't think we have, as it stands right now, a defined leadoff guy. We're trying a couple different options. ... We're still trying to work through do we have a guy versus left and a guy versus right."Dickerson, who's now slashing .441/.472/.647 over 34 at-bats and has led off in multiple games this spring, is a contender for the left-handed side of what could be a leadoff platoon with Tim Beckham to open the regular season. Veteran Logan Morrison is another candidate for the job from that side of the plate; however, he has a history of early-season struggles and is hitting just .200 over 10 at-bats this spring.
Mar 15 2017Dickerson went 4-for-4 with an RBI single, three other hits and a run in Tuesday's 9-6 Grapefruit League split-squad victory over the Orioles. The slugger continues to show off an improved, quicker swing this spring, as Tuesday's perfect showing at the plate brought his spring line to .433/.469/.700. Dickerson's significant offseason weight loss appears to be paying off thus far this spring as he preps for his second season in a Tampa uniform.
Mar 8 2017Dickerson went 1-for-3 with a fifth-inning solo home run in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning Grapefruit League loss to the Yankees. The slimmed-down slugger once again operated out of the leadoff spot, with his round-tripper representing his second of spring and seventh hit overall. Despite checking in to spring training at a svelte 200 pounds after dropping 25 pounds in the offseason, Dickerson's bat still carries plenty of pop, as he's now slashing .333/.364/.667 with one double, two homers and four RBI over 21 at-bats. The former Colorado Rockie admitted putting additional pressure on himself to prove his worth to his new Rays teammates last season, leading to early struggles. However, he finished 2016 on a tear, hitting .326 with eight doubles, eight homers and 16 RBI over his last 24 games, Dickerson went into the offseason with an eye on making the physical improvements necessary to carry that momentum into the coming campaign. "This is about strengthening my strengths and reducing my weaknesses. You free your mind a little bit. You don't hurt. You can get in shape the way you want to."
Feb 28 2017Dickerson, who served as the DH and led off in Monday's 7-2 Grapefruit League win over the Phillies, went 1-for-2 with an opposite-field two-run home run, a walk and another run.Dickerson connected for his first round-tripper of spring in the fifth by taking a Drew Anderson pitch to left field with a man on. The slugger has reported feeling like his swing is quicker after dropping 25 pounds in the offseason, and if Monday's blast is any indication, his assessment appears to be correct. Dickerson is expected to primarily DH this season, although he's also capable of being deployed in left field and first base if necessary.
Feb 4 2017Dickerson believes this offseason's 25-pound weight loss, which he accomplished through a combination of diet and targeted exercise, will significantly help his performance in 2017, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports. "I feel completely different," Dickerson said. "The way I run, the way I move, the quickness. ... I didn't lift any dumbbells. All my workouts were flexibility, range of motion -- the way I throw, the way I hit. I should have more range of motion, and that's really what I focused on."Dickerson smacked 24 homers and drove in 70 runs in 2016, his first season with the Rays, playing primarily DH and left field. While the round-trippers equaled a career high, Dickerson also whiffed 134 times, and sported an unsightly .293 OBP. His work this offseason was therefore largely geared toward bumping up his bat speed in order to make contact on a much more consistent basis. That approach already appears to be paying dividends according to the slugger's own observations. "Now my swing is quicker. The ball comes off the bat better with more range of motion. And the way I throw is different. I think it all benefitted me."

Jan 13 2017Dickerson agreed to a one-year, $3.025 million contract with the Rays on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports. The move from Colorado to Tampa Bay was accompanied by a 59-point drop in batting average, but Dickerson was able to stay healthy for the most part. With playing time volume, Dickerson was able to compile useful tallies in home runs and RBI. It seems likely he will serve as the primary DH to begin 2017, having graded out poorly in the outfield.
Oct 2 2016Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in Saturday's 4-1 victory over the Rangers. The slugging outfielder's third-inning blast extended the Rays' lead to 4-0 in the third and equaled the career-high total he'd set in 2014 with the Rockies. Dickerson has hits in six of his last seven games and has boosted his average 18 points since Sept. 2.
Sep 25 2016Dickerson went 2-for-3 with an RBI single in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Red Sox.His single in the third brought in Brad Miller, extending the Rays' lead to 3-1 at the time. Dickerson has a modest four-game hitting streak and is enjoying his best month at the plate overall, with a .321 average (25-for-78), seven doubles, five homers and 14 RBI in September.
Sep 23 2016Dickerson went 1-for-3 with a solo homer in Thursday's 2-0 victory over the Yankees. The slugger's 393-foot blast to right in the sixth provided the Rays with some breathing room and was Dickerson's third homer in the last four games. That includes round-trippers in two straight, with Thursday's bomb leaving him just one short of equaling the career-best 24 he'd hit back in 2014 with the Rockies. Dickerson's finest month of the season now sees him slashing .306/.315/.597 with six doubles, five homers and 13 RBI over 72 at-bats.
Sep 22 2016Dickerson continued his hot hitting with a 2-for-4 effort versus the Yankees in Wednesday's 11-5 loss that consisted of a double and solo homer. The Colorado import has proven he isn't just a Coors Field mirage in his first Rays campaign, with Wednesday's blast serving as his fourth in the last 10 games and his 22nd of the season overall. Dickerson has also racked up seven multi-hit outings in September, his highest monthly figure in that category this season. He's now just two homers shy of equaling the career-best 24 he smacked with the Rockies back in 2014 over 131 games and has raised his average 13 points to its current figure of .243 since Sept. 7.
Sep 19 2016Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Orioles. The slugger provided the only run on the day for the stagnant Rays offense, taking Darren O'Day deep in the fifth with a 379-foot shot to center. It was Dickerson's third homer in the last eight games and he's now slashing .311/.323/.541 over 61 at-bats in September, a stretch that has raised his season average 13 points since Sept. 2.
Sep 14 2016Dickerson went 3-for-5 with a homer and four RBI in a 8-1 victory over the Blue Jays on Wednesday. The 27-year-old has two home runs in the last four games, giving him 20 on the year. He also has hits in nine of his last 10 games and six multi-hit affairs during that stretch. Dickerson is batting .350 this month and has seen his average jump nearly 20 points in just 10 days. He is slashing .247/.294/.467 with 20 homers, 62 RBI and 52 runs.
Sep 12 2016Dickerson is not in the lineup Monday against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The 27-year-old has been scorching hot over the past week, but he'll head to the bench for a day off Monday. Mikie Mahtook will fill in for Dickerson in left field for the evening.
Sep 12 2016Dickerson went 3-for-4 with a double and a two-run shot, his 19th home run of the season, in Sunday's win over the Yankees. It was his fourth straight multi-hit game and Dickerson is now slashing an impressive .324/.343/.500 through his first 34 at-bats in September. It's been an up and down year for the former Rockie, but Dickerson appears set to finish his first season in Tampa Bay with a flourish.
Sep 9 2016Dickerson is 4-for-22 with one extra-base hit and seven strikeouts so far in September.Dickerson was riding a stretch of 15 consecutive starts coming into Thursday, but his play hasn't warranted everyday at-bats. He's batting .229/.275/.418 since the All-Star break and his season OBP is down more than 50 points from a year ago. At least he's been relatively healthy for most of the season.
Sep 9 2016Dickerson is back in the lineup Friday against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.Dickerson continues to play close to every day although his performance hasn't warranted everyday at-bats. He's batting .229/.275/.418 since the All-Star break and his season OBP is down more than 50 points from a year ago. At least he's been relatively healthy for most of the season.
Aug 29 2016Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a double and run in Monday's loss to the Red Sox.The 27-year-old slugger has been wielding a hot bat, with three multi-hit efforts in the last four games. Dickerson is 8-for-16 over that span, with five doubles, a homer and four RBI, bringing his season line to .237/.288/.462.
Aug 28 2016Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a double, a three-run homer, a walk and two runs Sunday against the Astros.Despite a .235 batting average, Dickerson has 18 homers on the year, and he's now slugging .459. However, the four-year veteran is currently posting career-low numbers in each of the slash columns.
Aug 27 2016Dickerson went 3-for-4 with three doubles and two runs in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Astros. After having gone 0-for-8 over his previous two games, the young slugger broke out with his third multi-hit effort since Aug. 19. Dickerson now has 10 extra-base hits (eight doubles, two homers) in each of the last two months and is slashing .232/.283/.450 with 26 doubles, three triples, 17 homers and 49 RBI over 380 at-bats in 2016.
Aug 22 2016Dickerson is slashing .350/.435/.800 with three doubles, two homers and five RBI during his current six-game hitting streak, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The 27-year-old slugger has struggled overall at the plate this season, but is surging over the last week. Dickerson was 1-for-3 with a single, walk and run in Sunday's 8-4 victory over the Rangers, equaling his longest hitting streak of the season. Despite the change in home parks from Coors Field to Tropicana Field, Dickerson has the second-highest homer (17) and RBI totals (48) of his major league career in 2016, with a solid chance of exceeding his personal best of 24 round-trippers set back in 2014.
Aug 22 2016Dickerson is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox, according to Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times.Dickerson is riding a six-game hitting streak, but he owns just a .543 OPS on the season against left-handed pitchers, so he will be held out Monday with southpaw David Price on the mound for the Red Sox.
Aug 20 2016Dickerson went 2-for-2 with a double and run in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Rangers. The young slugger continues to mostly struggle to make consistent contact, but has still contributed a solid 17 homers over 357 at-bats, putting to rest any talk that he was primarily a Coors Field-phenomenon. He also has hit safely in four straight contests, but is slashing just .167/.273/.375 over 48 August at-bats.
Aug 17 2016Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a solo homer, walk and two runs overall in Tuesday's 15-1 rout of the Padres. The slugger now has hits in three straight, along with homers in two of those contests. Despite the recent success, Dickerson is struggling through his worst month of the season, slashing just .130/.245/326 over his first 46 at-bats of August.
Aug 10 2016Dickerson is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Blue Jays, Mark Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. With the left-handed J.A. Happ taking the mound for Toronto, Dickerson will head to the bench as Richie Shaffer fills the DH spot. Dickerson has had a brutal showing at the plate over the last seven games, having gone 2-for-24 in that time.
Aug 8 2016Dickerson is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.Dickerson was just 3-for-22 (.136) over his last six starts, so manager Kevin Cash decided it was time for a day off. Steven Souza will serve as the Rays' designated hitter Monday with Dickerson opening on the bench.
Jul 22 2016Dickerson notched his third consecutive multi-hit game Thursday, going 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI against the A's.After two games at Coors Field in which he relived the glory days, Dickerson was able to keep it going in Oakland's much less hitter-friendly stadium. His average has hovered around .200 much of the year, but the 27-year-old has it up to .241 now, marking its highest point since late April. In fact, in July as a whole, he's hitting .352.
Jul 20 2016Dickerson went 3-for-5 with a triple and two runs in the Rays' 11-3 blowout of the Rockies on Wednesday.Dickerson will be happy for the strong showing against his former team at Coors Field, although he probably misses the thin mountain air in which he hit over .300 each of the previous two seasons. Dickerson is hitting just .236 with 36 RBI after the three-hit day for Tampa Bay.
Jul 18 2016Dickerson is not in the lineup Monday against the Rockies, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. It looks like a routine day off for Dickerson, who has started each of the Rays' first three post-All-Star-break contests as the DH. Tampa Bay will be without that positional luxury Monday as they take on the Rockies in Colorado, so Dickerson is the odd man out.
Jul 7 2016Dickerson is out of the lineup Thursday against the Angels. With lefty Hector Santiago on the hill for the Angels, Dickerson will start the game on the bench, making way for Oswaldo Arcia in left field and Evan Longoria at DH. Dickerson's offensive production has been even more vacant than most expected after the move from Colorado to Tampa Bay. He is slashing just .223/.276/.450, and while he has managed 13 homers, the lack of supporting counting stats and the low batting average makes him tough to roster in shallower formats.
Jul 6 2016Dickerson continued to improve at the plate in Tuesday's 13-5 loss to the Angels, going 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and run.The 27-year-old slugger continues to progressively emerge from the considerable slump that encompassed much of the first three months of his Rays tenure. Dickerson's resurgence began June 14 with a three-hit effort versus the Mariners, a performance that pushed his average up 13 points to .207. He's put together four multi-hit games-- including Tuesday's-- since that date, along with three doubles, a homer and three RBI. Dickerson is slashing .333/.467/.878 over five July games as well, and has raised his average 28 points since June 12.
Jun 30 2016Dickerson is in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.Dickerson has missed the past four games with a sore thumb, but is back in the lineup in left and batting sixth for Thursday's contest. The 27-year-old has had a tough season from the plate, hitting just .209, yet has shown his power, smacking 13 home runs and 34 RBI. He will look to get back on track against Jordan Zimmermann on Thursday.
Jun 29 2016Dickerson said his thumb is feeling better Wednesday and he hopes to return to the lineup Thursday against the Tigers, the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin reports. He remains out of action Wednesday, with Oswaldo Arcia and Brandon Guyer occupying the outfield corners. The Rays are facing righty Jordan Zimmermann on Thursday, so it would be an opportune time to get Dickerson back in the mix.
Jun 28 2016Dickerson (thumb) isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.Dickerson remains out with what the Rays call a "very sore" thumb. The outfielder remains day-to-day, and he could return as early as Wednesday if the soreness subsides enough for him to hit without discomfort.
Jun 27 2016Dickerson (thumb) is not in Monday's lineup, freelance Rays writer Roger Mooney reports.Dickerson continues to deal with what the team called a "very sore" thumb, and the plan is for him to take batting practice Monday to see how the thumb reacts. The outfielder won't be available Monday night, but if he's able to hit without much discomfort, there's a chance he could return to the lineup as early as Tuesday.
Jun 26 2016Dickerson is dealing with a "very sore thumb" but could return Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The 27-year-old slugger was out of the lineup Sunday, and when he exactly suffered the injury is unclear. He's largely struggled in his first season in a Tampa uniform, but has seen a slight uptick in production as of late. Dickerson has hit safely in four of his last five contests, with a pair of multi-hit efforts, a homer and three RBI over that span.
Jun 26 2016Dickerson is out of the lineup Sunday against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. It's a rare day out of the lineup against a right-handed starting pitcher for Dickerson, who owns a .753 OPS versus righties on the season. Unfortunately for the Rays, power is about all that Dickerson has been bringing to the table for the Rays, as he currently sports a .209 average and .258 on-base percentage for the season. His deficiencies in those areas along with as a defender could result in Dickerson ceding some more at-bats after the Rays bolstered their outfield corps earlier this week by adding Oswaldo Arcia to the roster.
Jun 25 2016Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Orioles. The young slugger got things started off on a good note for the Rays, taking Orioles starter Yovani Gallardo deep in the first inning. It was another modest but nevertheless important step in the right direction at the plate for Dickerson, who's struggled mightily throughout the season. The 27-year-old now has a modest three-game hitting streak, and has hit safely in four of the last five overall. The homer was only the second of June however, but did bring his monthly average to .217. As poor as that figure is, it currently represents Dickerson's highest for any month this season, a testament to the extent of his difficulties.
Jun 16 2016Dickerson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.Dickerson will rest while lefty pitcher James Paxton takes the mound. Jaff Decker will start in left field and bat eighth while Dickerson heads to the bench.
Jun 14 2016Dickerson hit his 12th home run as part of a 3-for-4 game with two runs scored and three RBI in Tuesday's win over Seattle. With two more extra-base hits Tuesday, including a triple to go with the home run, 23 of Dickerson's 38 hits have now gone for extra bases. The power has been there in spades, but Dickerson hasn't provided anything else -- he is striking out 27 percent of the time, driving a poor .207 batting average and .251 on-base percentage. He hit .304/.333/.536 last season, but he hasn't been able to hit for average without the help of Coors Field in 2016.
Jun 12 2016Dickerson is out of the lineup Sunday against the Astros, freelance Rays writer Roger Mooney reports. The Rays will rest lefty hitters Dickerson and Brad Miller on Sunday with southpaw Dallas Keuchel on the mound for the opposition. In Dickerson's stead, Mikie Mahtook will enter the lineup, starting in left field and batting second.
Jun 8 2016Dickerson went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo bombs in a 6-3 victory over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. It's been a rough go for Dickerson in his first year away from Coors Field, but he has managed to continue to hit for power. He has 11 homers and a .457 slugging percentage in 173 at-bats, but the bad news is Dickerson also has just a .202 batting average. He was 1-for-17 (.059) in June before his big afternoon Wednesday.
Jun 6 2016Dickerson is out of Monday's lineup against the Diamondbacks, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.DIckerson has just three hits in 31 plate appearances against left-handed pitching all year, and he'll ride the pine against another southpaw Monday in Arizona's Robbie Ray. Desmond Jennings will take his spot in the lineup, as has been customary in recent Rays games against left-handed pitchers. The Rays face righty Zack Greinke on Tuesday and Dickerson should be back in the lineup as a result.
Jun 1 2016Dickerson is not in the lineup for Wednesday's matchup with Kansas City, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.Dickerson is getting a routine day off as he's made 12 consecutive starts up until Wednesday. Mike Mahtook will replace him in left field - making his second start there this season. Lefty, Danny Duffy, is on the mound for Kansas City tonight which is probably another reason why the left-hander, Dickerson, is getting a breather Wednesday. The 27-year-old will likely be back in the lineup Thursday as the Rays face right-hander, Kyle Gibson, of Minnesota.
May 28 2016Dickerson finally got back to the Mendoza Line with a 1-for-3 effort in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Yankees. The 27-year-old got back to the .200 mark for the first time since May 3, but is still hitting just .185 in May. He's at least generated some hard contact, with seven of his 12 hits during the month going for extra bases (three doubles, a triple, and three homers). Dickerson has started to heat up over the last three starts, going 5-for-11 with a double and run scored over that span.
May 27 2016Dickerson went 3-for-4 in Thursday's 9-1 loss to the Marlins. It was only the slugger's second multi-hit game of May, and second three-hit outing of the season overall. Dickerson is still just below the Mendoza Line despite the successful effort, with his average sitting at .197. The 27-year-old has contributed in the long ball department with eight homers, but has an atrocious .248 OBP over his first 132 at-bats in a Rays uniform.
May 22 2016Dickerson is out of the lineup Sunday against the Tigers.Dickerson will rest in favor of Brandon Guyer in left field, while Logan Morrison is called to man the DH spot as part of a Sunday lineup shuffle. After serving as the DH Friday and Saturday, Dickerson will get a regular day off with Jordan Zimmermann on the hill for the opposing Tigers.
May 16 2016Dickerson is not in the starting lineup Monday against Jays left-hander J.A. Happ, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. With Dickerson taking a seat, Desmond Jennings will play left field as Brandon Guyer takes a turn as the Rays' DH.
May 13 2016Dickerson is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the A's, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.Dickerson is just 1-for-22 against left-handers this season, and the Rays are employing a right-heavy lineup Friday against A's starter Rich Hill, so Dickerson will open Friday's game on the bench. Brandon Guyer will serve as the Rays' designated hitter in Dickerson's place.
May 10 2016Dickerson is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Mariners, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.Dickerson hit his seventh home run of the season in Monday's loss, but the Rays are going with a righty-heavy lineup against the left-handed Wade Miley. Brandon Guyer will serve as the club's DH on Tuesday and bat lead off.
May 10 2016Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Mariners. It was his second long ball in the last four games, and notably came off Felix Hernandez. Despite his solid power numbers in his first season in a Rays uniform, Dickerson is currently hitting under the Mendoza Line, and has just three hits in his first 21 at-bats of May. His current 26.7 percent strikeout rate is also his highest figure in that category at the major league level.
May 6 2016Dickerson went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer in the 5-2 victory over the Angels on Friday. The homer broke a 0-for-23 streak for Dickerson. Coincidentally, his last hit was also a home run on April 24. Dickerson is just 16-for-81 (.198) this season, but six of those 16 hits are bombs.
May 3 2016Dickerson is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Dodgers, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.Southpaw Scott Kazmir is set to take the hill Tuesday, so manager Kevin Cash is sending out a predominantly right-handed lineup. Brandon Guyer will serve as the DH in place of Dickerson and bat second.
Apr 30 2016Dickerson is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. He will head to the bench with lefty J.A. Happ due up for the opposition, as he typically does against southpaws. Dickerson is 1-for-15 against lefties so far this season, and he's 0-fer against all pitching in his last four games. Steven Souza will serve as the DH on Saturday.
Apr 26 2016Dickerson, along with teammate Steven Souza, reached the five-homer mark to open the season in a franchise-record 18 games, Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The offseason acquisition launched a two-run shot against the Yankees on Sunday as part of a five-homer barrage, allowing him to reach the milestone. Dickerson blasted three gopher balls in his first six games before enduring a six-game homerless streak in mid-April, but now has a pair of dingers over the last six contests. He's slashing .246/.292/.574 over 61 at-bats.
Apr 25 2016Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 8-1 victory over the Yankees. The 26-year-old slugger showed up prominently over the latter two games of the three-game set against the Yankees, hitting .500 (4-for-8) with a double, homer, three RBI, a run and a walk over that span. He's hit safely in four of his last five games, with two of those instances consisting of multi-hit efforts. The strikeout-prone Dickerson has also managed to cut down on his whiffs after notching one in eight of his first nine games, having only gone down on strikes four times in the following 28 at-bats.
Apr 24 2016Dickerson went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees. The left-handed slugger put together his second multi-hit effort over the last four games, and doubled for the third time in four contests as well. He also has four RBI over his last three outings, and is now slashing a respectable and improving .268/.293/.625 line after a very slow first week of the season.
Apr 21 2016Dickerson is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports. With left-handed David Price on the mound for Boston, the Rays will unsurprisingly deploy a righty-heavy lineup. Dickerson hasn't strictly been used as a platoon player, but he only has nine at-bats (and no hits) against lefties this season.
Apr 20 2016Dickerson went 2-for-4 at the dish, hitting a double and his fourth home run of the season during Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Red Sox.It was a good night for the 26-year-old, as he had been hitless in the 10 at-bats prior to the contest. Dickerson hasn't made great contact this season, hitting just .227, but he's shown a bit of pop with the home runs. He hit .312 and .304 the last two seasons in Colorado, so there's hope that his average will rise as the season progresses.
Apr 17 2016Dickerson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.Dickerson will sit for the second time in the three-game series with the White Sox rolling out their third straight left-handed starting pitcher. His absence from the lineup will allow Steve Pearce to occupy the cleanup spot.
Apr 15 2016Dickerson is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.Manager Kevin Cash has all but rid his lineup of lefty bats to counter starter Chris Sale, with the lone exception being Kevin Kiermaier in the No. 8 spot. Dickerson has logged just three at-bats against left-handed pitching this season, and the platoon-conscious Rays figure to continue shielding him heavily throughout the season.
Apr 12 2016Dickerson, a National League transplant, is still getting acclimated to the designated hitter role, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The offseason acquisition from the Rockies has already slugged three homers over the first six games, but had only played 10 games at the DH spot with Colorado over three seasons of interleague play. The biggest adjustment for Dickerson has been devising a routine between at-bats that help him remain sharp for his next trip to the batter's box."I'm getting a little better at it, gradually getting there," Dickerson said. "I'm trying to get away from everything a little bit. But I like to watch the pitcher some." The 26-year-old is 3-for-15 with two homers from the DH spot in 2016.
Apr 9 2016Jackson (back) was sent to Triple-A Round Rock for a rehab assignment Saturday, Rangers' VP of communications John Blake reports.Jackson is still working back from a stress fracture in his back, but this is certainly a step in the right direction. It's unclear how long he'll remain on the DL, but he figures to make multiple appearances for Round Rock before a potential call up.
Apr 8 2016Dickerson is in the lineup and hitting fourth for Friday's game against the Orioles, Roger Mooney of The Tampa Tribune reports.Dickerson will get the start at DH as the Rays take on right-hander Chris Tillman. The 26-year-old did most of his damage against righties in 2015, hitting .315 with 10 home runs and 25 RBI, so this should be a favorable matchup for him.
Apr 6 2016Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Tuesday's 3-2 victory over the Blue Jays. While he put on a power display for the second time in three games, Dickerson also struck out and stranded two. The performance is a fitting microcosm of what he might offer over the course of the season, considering the all-or-nothing results he can often generate at the plate. Dickerson has now whiffed once in each of the Rays' first three contests, but always offers long-ball potential, particularly versus right-handed pitching.
Apr 6 2016Dickerson is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports. The 26-year-old hit his second home run of the young season Tuesday, a towering blast off Aaron Sanchez, but Dickerson will head to the bench Wednesday with lefty J.A. Happ due up for Toronto. Brandon Guyer will man left field while Desmond Jennings serves as the designated hitter.
Apr 4 2016Dickerson became the first player to homer on Opening Day in his Rays debut since Eric Hinske accomplished the feat in 2008, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The 26-year-old slugger was brought over from the Rockies in the offseason with the hopes of improving the Rays' lack of left-handed hitting power. Although he came up empty in his first three at-bats, his ninth-inning right-field shot provided a glimpse of the potential power infusion Dickerson could provide Tampa's offense in 2016. The four-year veteran has amassed 40 homers in 858 career at-bats.
Apr 3 2016Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Blue Jays.Like many of his teammates, the offseason acquistion was stymied by Marcus Stroman in his first three trips to the batter's box, before launching a solo shot into the right field bleachers to lead off the ninth. Dickerson hit fourth and served as the designated hitter as expected, and should have plenty of RBI opportunities throughout the season with the likes of Logan Forsythe, Logan Morrison and Evan Longoria hitting in front of him.
Mar 22 2016Dickerson (blister) struck out in all four plate appearances in his return to action Sunday.Saturday's rainout gave Dickerson an extra day to let the blood blister on his right ring finger heal, but the 26-year-old still struggled in his first game back, fanning in all four at-bats. It shouldn't be taken as a major red flag, as some rust had to be expected after a week-long layoff. Dickerson also dealt with a bruised forearm earlier in camp, and more notably, missed a significant chunk of last season due to plantar fasciitis.
Mar 18 2016Dickerson has been dealing with a blood blister on his right ring finger and is expected to play in Saturday's spring training game, Marc Topkin of the The Tampa Bay Times reports.Dickerson has been resting for much of this week due to what manager Kevin Cash called "preventing overexertion", but it now appears as if the former Rockies outfielder has also been dealing with a minor injury as well. Considering Dickerson is excepted to be back on the field Saturday, the injury shouldn't be much of a concern for fantasy owners, who are hoping the 26-year-old can replicate some of the success he had in Colorado.
Mar 15 2016Dickerson (forearm) will rest for the next two days in an effort to prevent overexertion, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.Rays manager Kevin Cash explains the time off as a component of a plan to prevent the power-hitting first baseman/outfielder from swinging too much. "We're trying to be smart, back him off a little bit,'' Cash said. "He's good to go. We're very happy where he's at.'' Dickerson, coming off back-to-back .300 seasons in Colorado, is hitting .250 with one home run and three RBI over 24 spring training at-bats.
Mar 12 2016Dickerson has a bruise on his left forearm, and the injury did not need X-rays, the Tampa Bay Times' Joey Knight reports. He went 1-for-2 before being removed from Saturday's game against the Yankees. The fact that it is simply a bruise and no tests were needed suggests Dickerson will be able to get back on the field relatively soon, so his status for Opening Day does not appear to be in jeopardy.
Jan 28 2016Dickerson was traded to the Rays on Thursday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. After signing Gerardo Parra, the Rockies were expected to move one of their outfielders for some pitching, and that's exactly what they did. Dickerson was sent to the Rays with a minor league pitcher in exchange for pitcher Jake McGee and a minor league pitcher. This move could impact the 26-year-old in a few ways, most notably being that he won't be hitting in the hitter-friendly Coors Field any longer. There also may be a concern of Dickerson's health, given that the turf in Tropicana Field isn't the most forgiving surface in the league. Those issues aside, the Rays are getting a solid young left-handed hitter, as Dickerson batted .304 with 10 home runs with the Rockies last season.
Oct 7 2015Dickerson finished the 2015 season in style Sunday, hitting a three-run homer in the Rockies' win over the Giants. After a breakout 2014 campaign, repeated bouts with plantar fasciitis along with a case of broken ribs limited Dickerson to just 65 games this season. Even so, there's plenty of reason to be optimistic for Dickerson's prospects heading into the upcoming season. In his 224 at-bats in 2015, Dickerson still finished with a .304 average and .869 OPS, marks highly comparable to what he posted in those categories in 2014. With a little better luck on the health front, Dickerson shouldn't have trouble reaching the 20-homer plateau while making a run at 100 RBI.
Oct 3 2015Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs scored in a 9-3 win over the Giants on Friday. It's been a tough year for the highly regarded lefty, but he has all the potential in the world. A foot issue and shoulder problem kept Dickerson out of the lineup throughout the season, but he is a fantastic bounce back candidate next year. With his powerful swing, Dickerson could have 30-plus home run potential, if he can play a full season.
Oct 1 2015Dickerson is out of the lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson gets the day off along with multiple other left-handed bats due to southpaw Patrick Corbin toeing the rubber for the Diamondbacks. Rafael Ynoa will receive the start in his place, batting eighth for the Rockies.
Sep 25 2015Dickerson went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double, three RBI and two runs in Friday's win over the Dodgers. The talented young outfielder has missed much of 2015 with foot and rib injuries, but has been highly productive when healthy. Since returning to the lineup on Sept. 8, Dickerson has hit .333 with three homers, eight RBI and eight runs. Given his health issues, he may be available in some leagues and could be worth a late-season pickup.
Sep 24 2015Dickerson went 3-for-5 with a home run, double, and two RBI in Wednesday's 13-7 loss to the Pirates.Dickerson hasn't missed a beat since returning from the disabled list Sept. 8, as he's slashed a respectable .282/.333/.538 over his last 13 games. The Rockies have been giving him more frequent days off in September than earlier in the year, but it's hard to fault the team for their reluctance to use him given how banged up he's been throughout the season. With a full offseason to recover from the plantar fasciitis issue that has dogged him throughout the season, Dickerson should enter spring training at full health.
Sep 19 2015Dickerson is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres. The 26-year-old will sit for the second time in three games with the Rockies facing another left-hander in Robbie Erlin. Given Dickerson's .263/.300/.316 batting line against lefties and injury trouble this season, and it seems likely Colorado will continue to rest him against southpaws.
Sep 16 2015Dickerson is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers.Dickerson played 16 innings in the field over the past two days, so he'll get Wednesday off to limit the risk of re-injury on his problematic foot. This should be considered a regular day-off, and he is listed as available to pinch-hit against the Dodgers. Kyle Parker will replace him in left field.
Sep 13 2015Dickerson is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mariners.Dickerson is 4-for-16 at the plate with two doubles and a homer since returning from a ribs injury. He'll get a regular maintenance day while Brandon Barnes is sent out to man left field.
Sep 10 2015Dickerson hit a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Padres.Dickerson moved up to second in the order after batting seventh in Wednesday's game, which was his first start since July 30. Now healed from the broken ribs that resulted in his latest DL stint, Dickerson is still periodically dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot, but it's not expected to prevent him from manning left field on a regular basis in September. Despite spending much of the season hurt, Dickerson hasn't let it affect his performance, as he's maintained a .305/.340/.506 slash line over his 162 plate appearances.
Sep 9 2015Dickerson is in the lineup Wednesday.Dickerson hasn't played in more than a month due to a rib injury, but he was activated from the DL on Tuesday and will return to the Rockies' outfield. He'll man left field and bat seventh against Padres' starter James Shields. Even with Colorado well out of contention, Dickerson figures to hold down a near-everyday role down the stretch.
Sep 8 2015Dickerson (ribs) was activated from the disabled list Tuesday.Dickerson is ready to resume playing after spending most of the last six weeks recovering from his rib injury. While Dickerson is back on the active roster, he will not immediately re-enter the lineup Tuesday night. That will likely happen at some point in the near future however.
Sep 3 2015Dickerson (ribs) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday, going 1-for-4 with two strikeouts. The rehab assignment represents the final step in the recovery process from fractured ribs for Dickerson, who will likely require multiple games with Albuquerque before being activated from the DL. Dickerson, who has been on the disabled list on three different occasions this season, figures to unseat the duo of Kyle Parker and Brandon Barnes as the Rockies' primary options in left field once he's activated.
Sep 2 2015Dickerson (ribs) ran in the outfield Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.Dickerson looks to be rounding back into form after fracturing his rib earlier in August, and could be ready to play again by mid-September, if not earlier. He's already began hitting again, and if Tuesday's activity resulted in no obvious setbacks, the Rockies could be prepared to have him play a simulated game or report to one of the team's affiliates for a rehab game.
Sep 1 2015Dickerson (ribs) has been cleared to resume hitting, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson was scheduled to take batting practice Monday, but poor weather resulted in the outfielder postponing that activity. Manager Walt Weiss indicated that Dickerson hasn't been given a timetable for a return, though the 26-year-old has previously indicated that he plans on returning to action before season's end.
Aug 16 2015Dickerson (ribs) has been working out in a pool but has not yet been cleared to start swinging a bat, the Denver Post reports.Currently in the midst of his third stint on the disabled list of the season, this time for two nondisplaced fractures of his ribs, Dickerson has been encouraged by his progress thus far and remains hopeful to return by season's end. Nonetheless, with a September return to action still very much up in the air, it may make sense to cut Dickerson in shallower single-season leagues with limited bench spots.
Aug 1 2015Dickerson (ribs) was officially placed on the disabled list Saturday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. It was announced Friday that Dickerson was DL-bound, and now the Rockies have made the move official. He's suffering from broken ribs, which will likely keep him out longer than if it was just a contusion, but the club hasn't released an official timetable yet. While Dickerson is out, the Rockies will likely turn to the combination of Brandon Barnes and Drew Stubbs in left field.
Jul 31 2015Dickerson (ribs) underwent an MRI on Friday, the Denver Post reports. He was said to be "extremely sore" Friday, so the Rockies sent him for an MRI to check for structural damage. The result have not been disclosed. Brandon Barnes is starting in left field Friday and will likely stay there if Dickerson is forced to miss additional time.
Jul 31 2015Dickerson (ribs) is headed to the disabled list on Friday with broken ribs, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.Despite seeming optimistic that this was not a serious injury, Friday's MRI showed that his ribs were broken instead of it just being a contusion and he's headed to the disabled list. It is unclear who will replace him on the Rockies while he's unavailable.
Jul 31 2015Dickerson (ribs) is out of the lineup Friday against the Cardinals.Brandon Barnes will get the start in left field in place of Dickerson, who suffered a right rib contusion on a diving attempt in the fifth inning of Friday's game. Dickerson's availability for Saturday is uncertain, but the team has not given any indication that he's in danger of landing back on the DL.
Jul 30 2015Dickerson left Thursday's game with a right rib contusion, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. He made a diving attempt at a ball of the bat of Jason Heyward in the bottom of the fifth and appeared in significant pain. The good news it that it's not a setback with his plantar fasciitis, and the Rockies are listing Dickerson as day-to-day, but Dickerson's status for Friday and the rest of the weekend is up in the air.
Jul 29 2015Dickerson is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Cubs, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.Dickerson has come off the disabled list hot, collecting seven hits in his first four games back, but receiving every third day off for now as he continues to ease back into an everyday role. Drew Stubbs will start in left field in his place Wednesday, batting sixth for the Rockies.
Jul 26 2015Dickerson is out of the lineup Sunday against the Reds. The Rockies appear inclined to proceed a bit cautiously with Dickerson, who played in both of the first two games of the series after returning from his persistent foot issue Friday. The plantar fasciitis has flared up on multiple occasions for Dickerson, and remains most problematic when he plays the field. The injury hasn't hampered Dickerson's offensive production this season, as he's slashing an excellent .306/.340/.507 across 141 plate appearances, but he's far from a safe bet to finish the second half with his health fully intact.
Jul 24 2015Dickerson went 2-for-3 with a walk in his first game back off the disabled list in a 6-5 win over the Reds on Friday.Dickerson has been out since June 16 with plantar fascitis issues, but he appears to be fully healthy with a multi-hit effort here. The major worry is that the foot will flare up again as he only lasted a week before the fascitis flared up after his first DL stint. If he can stay healthy, Dickerson could be one of the best buy low options in fantasy right now as he's one of the best hitters in baseball.
Jul 24 2015Dickerson (foot) was activated from the DL and is back in the lineup Friday against the Reds, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. The 26-year-old will man left field and bat sixth against right-hander Anthony DeSclafani in his first start since June 16. Dickerson showed ample mobility and burst during his four-game rehab stint, but keep in mind that he made it less than a week after returning from his first DL stint before his plantar fasciitis flared up. It's an issue Dickerson and the team will have to manage the rest of the way.
Jul 23 2015Manager Walt Weiss acknowledged that Dickerson (foot) could return to the lineup this weekend, the Denver Post reports. "There's a chance, yeah," Weiss said. "I don't know what the percentages would be."The Rockies don't seem to have any concern about Dickerson's ability to hit, but they need to be sure he can stand in the outfield for long periods of time, chase flyballs, and run the bases without any major issues. Dickerson eased some of those concerns Monday in a rehab game with High-A Modesto, when he broke from third base to home and made it without a problem. Plantar fasciitis has limited Dickerson to just 38 games this season, but he's been very productive when on the field, slashing .299/.331/.512 with five homers in 127 at-bats.
Jul 22 2015Dickerson (foot) moved his rehab assignment to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday and went 1-for-3 with a walk. After serving as the DH for High-A Modesto a day earlier, Dickerson returned to the outfield Tuesday night, playing seven innings in left. Dickerson will likely remain with Albuquerque for another game or two, and if he endures no setbacks with his foot during that time, look for the Rockies to bring him back from the DL over the weekend.
Jul 18 2015Dickerson (foot) is expected to begin a rehab assignment Monday, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.Manager Walt Weiss suggested Friday that Dickerson was nearing a return, and it sounds like the outfielder will indeed head out for a brief minor league stint in a matter of days. Dickerson was spotted shagging flyballs and playing long toss prior to Saturday's game. The 26-year-old made it just five games after his initial return before his plantar fasciitis flared up and forced him back onto the DL.
Jul 18 2015Manager Walt Weiss said Friday that he expects Dickerson (left foot inflammation) to return to the lineup "soon," Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports. "We're going to put him through the wringer in the next couple days and see how he responds," Weiss said with regards to Dickerson. "And if everything turns out OK, we're looking at going out [on a rehab assignment] real soon."Dickerson was placed on the disabled list June 17 for a second time this season due to a flareup of the plantar fasciitis in his left foot. With a month off to rest and recover, Dickerson appears to have noticed some improvement, as he was seen hitting in the batting cage Thursday morning and previously resumed light running prior to the All-Star break. Weiss said Dickerson's next hurdle will be in showing the team's coaching staff that he can run the bases and handle the defensive rigors of the outfield without any setbacks, which the 26-year-old could be able to demonstrate at some point later in the weekend. If that activity goes as anticipated, Dickerson could begin a short rehab assignment as soon as Monday, during which Weiss expects the outfielder to receive about 25 at-bats.
Jul 9 2015Dickerson (foot) has resumed running in tennis shoes, but is not yet running the bases in his cleats, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson, who has been out since June 16 after the plantar fasciitis in his left foot flared up, said that he's no longer experiencing pain while walking around, but running in cleats remains a different story. The Rockies are without a timetable for Dickerson to increase his baseball activities, but the outfielder is confident that he'll be back again at some point in the second half.
Jul 5 2015Dickerson (foot) will return at some point this season, but his timetable remains unclear, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson was sent to the disabled list June 17 because of plantar faciitis, and it continues to give him fits. While he will return at some point this season, it seems like the second half of the season is a better bet.
Jun 19 2015Dickerson (foot) is without a timetable for his return after he was forced to the disabled list Wednesday, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson returned from the DL last week when it appeared the worst of the inflammation in his left foot seemed to have subsided, but it only took a couple games for his plantar fasciitis to flare up again. The outfielder, who is hitting .299 over 38 games this season, isn't considering surgery at this time, though it may be necessary in the offseason.
Jun 17 2015Dickerson (foot) was placed on the 15-day DL on Wednesday, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports. The nightmare continues for Dickerson owners, as he's right back on the DL less than a week after returning from his first stint. Dickerson's plantar fasciitis flared up in his third start back, resulting in his absence from the lineup Sunday and Monday, and he was then limited to DH duty Tuesday. A timetable for him to make it back to active roster is up in the air.
Jun 17 2015Dickerson is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros. He is set to sit for the third time in four games after aggravating the plantar fasciitis in his left foot while running down the first base line Saturday. The Rockies have not indicated that he's in danger of landing back on the DL, but it's uncertain when Dickerson, who served as the designated hitter Tuesday, will be able to return to the field. Brandon Barnes will get the start in left field Wednesday.
Jun 16 2015Dickerson is in the lineup as the DH on Tuesday against the Astros, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson, who was dealing with a minor foot injury over the weekend, will return to the line up after sitting Sunday and Monday (he did log one at-bat as a pinch hitter Monday). He'll be the beneficiary of the Rockies playing in an AL park, as DH'ing figures to limit the strain on his foot.
Jun 15 2015Dickerson (foot) is available off the bench in Monday's game against Houston, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.Dickerson re-aggravated a preexisting foot injury during Saturday's game against the Marlins and ultimately sat out the finale Sunday. His availability for Monday's game is a step in the right direction, although his full recovery won't be certain until he regains his position as a starter.
Jun 14 2015Dickerson (foot) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Marlins, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Per Saunders, Dickerson is feeling "a little better," but that won't be enough for a return to left field. Consider the outfielder day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener against the Astros. Brandon Barnes will get the starting nod in left for the afternoon contest.
Jun 13 2015Dickerson left Saturday's game in the sixth inning after appearing to aggravate his foot injury, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. He grounded out to the shortstop in the top of the sixth and seemed to be favoring the foot as he walked gingerly back to the dugout. Saturday's game was just Dickerson's third after missing close to a month due to a flareup of his plantar fasciitis, but the extent of this setback is uncertain.
Jun 12 2015Dickerson (foot) went 2-for-4 with a double and a strikeout in his return from the disabled list Thursday against the Marlins.Occupying the sixth spot in the Rockies' lineup, Dickerson provided his team's only extra-base hit of the afternoon in what amounted to a successful return from a nearly one-month absence. Dickerson noted earlier in the week that he's no longer feeling the effects of the plantar fasciitis that inflicted his foot, but there's always the potential of a flare-up of the condition occurring again. Even so, Dickerson looks to be reasonably healthy at this time, making him one of the top fantasy outfielders while he's able to stay on the field. His return to a regular role in left field will bump Brandon Barnes to the bench.
Jun 11 2015Dickerson was officially activated from the DL on Thursday. He is in the lineup against the Marlins on Thursday, batting sixth and playing left field.Dickerson is apparently after the plantar fasciitis issue that sidelined him since May 19, and he figures to take over as the everyday left fielder, which will push Brandon Barnes to the bench.
Jun 11 2015Dickerson (foot) will be activated from the disabled list Thursday afternoon, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson's plantar faciitis appears to have subsided for the most part, as he won't require any more time on his rehab assignment. He should retake his spot in left field upon his return, pushing Brandon Barnes back to the bench.
Jun 10 2015Dickerson (foot) flew back to Denver on Tuesday to receive further evaluation, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson played a couple of extended spring training games in Arizona on Monday as he looks to put his case of plantar fasciitis behind him. It doesn't sound like he endured any setbacks during those games, and the return to Denver was probably more of a checkup than anything. He could be cleared to advance to the next phase of his rehab by the end of the week.
Jun 10 2015Dickerson (plantar fasciitis) rejoined the Rockies Wednesday and said he won't need more rehab, the Denver Post's Nick Groke reports. It sure sounds like Dickerson's work at extended spring training was all he needed, and he could be cleared to come off the DL any day now. He is not in Wednesday's lineup, but a return sometime this week seems likely.
Jun 6 2015Dickerson (foot) will return to Arizona on Sunday for extended spring training games, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson said earlier in the week that he is no longer experiencing pain related to the plantar fasciitis in his left foot, but the Rockies want to see how he responds in a controlled environment before sending him on a minor league rehab assignment. Brandon Barnes figures to continue serving as the primary option in left field until Dickerson returns.
Jun 3 2015Dickerson relayed Tuesday that he's no longer feeling much pain in his left foot while running, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. "I'll do some more running and then see how it reacts, then go from there," Dickerson said. "I think I'll be ready to go start playing again pretty soon. I hope in the next few days."Manager Walt Weiss was less willing to identify a timetable for Dickerson's return, but it's clear the Rockies are beginning to feel more confident about the health of the outfielder, who has been bothered by plantar fasciitis since spring training. The Rockies don't have rehab assignment mapped out yet for Dickerson, though that could arrive by the end of the week if he continues to take further encouraging steps forward with his recovery during subsequent workouts.
Jun 2 2015Dickerson (foot) ran the bases and worked out in the outfield Monday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. That sort of activity represents progress for Dickerson, but it shouldn't be taken as evidence that his return from the DL is forthcoming. The outfielder has previously acknowledged that the plantar fasciitis in his foot is an issue that could linger for the remainder of the season, and while it's not expected to result in a permanent shutdown, the Rockies probably aren't inclined to use him until the pain reaches a more manageable level.
May 20 2015Dickerson, who landed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, has no plans of undergoing surgery to address the plantar fasciitis in his left foot, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson has been playing with inflammation on his heel since spring training and saw the situation worsen when he chased down a fly ball Saturday against the Dodgers. The Rockies are hopeful that some time out of the field for Dickerson will be enough to make playing through the issue manageable again, with manager Walt Weiss suggesting the outfielder could return from the DL when eligible June 3. Dickerson will wear a walking boot for the next few days before attempting to restart baseball activities.
May 19 2015Dickerson (foot) was placed on the 15-day DL on Tuesday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson's plantar fasciitis flared up again over the weekend, and he will need at least a couple weeks to let the discomfort subside. The 25-year-old recently suggested a DL stint was possible, but also said he wasn't sure if time off would really help, saying "to heal it, it will take a lot of time, or tearing (the tissue in the foot), to get better." Rafael Ynoa will get the start in left field Tuesday with Ben Paulsen recalled to replace Dickerson on the active roster.
May 18 2015Dickerson (foot) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies. The Rockies will again go with Charlie Blackmon in left field with Drew Stubbs in center. Dickerson continues to battle plantar fasciitis, and it's possible he could end up on the 15-day DL later in the week if his condition doesn't improve. Dickerson said Sunday night that he's unsure whether time off will help the injury, and manager Walt Weiss indicated that the team will likely wait a few days before coming to a decision.
May 17 2015Dickerson (foot) is not in the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Charlie Blackmon will move over to left field and Drew Stubbs will take over in center. Dickerson exited Saturday's game in the third inning after his plantar fasciitis flared up while attempting to chase down a flyball. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, this condition could linger for the majority of the season, so those who play in daily formats will likely need to closely monitor Dickerson's progress.
May 14 2015Dickerson said Wednesday that he's still feeling the effects of plantar fasciitis in his left foot, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. "It hurts every time I run," Dickerson said. "But it's not enough to keep me from playing. I think I can still make plays and hit."Dickerson's positive outlook seems to be backed up by his batting line, which he improved to an excellent .317/.355/.548 after singling twice in Wednesday's loss to the Angels. Unsurprisingly, however, Dickerson seems to have abandoned the idea of being aggressive on the bases, as he's tried just one steal this season after going 8-for-15 on his attempts in 2014. While last season's paltry success rate probably didn't have many fantasy owners counting on Dickerson for more than moderate production in that category, he likely can't be relied upon as even a token threat on the bases while he nurses the injury. The soon-to-be 26-year-old acknowledged that the plantar fasciitis is something he'll probably have to manage all season.
May 10 2015Dickerson is not in the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.Rockies' manager Walt Weiss will roll with a right-handed heavy lineup against Sunday starter Clayton Kershaw, and that includes sitting Dickerson, Carlos Gonzalez and Justin Morneau. Dickerson should be back in action Tuesday against the Angels.
May 9 2015Dickerson is not in the lineup Saturday against the Dodgers.Dickerson went 2-for-3 Friday against Los Angeles, but is not in the lineup Saturday. Drew Stubbs will take Dickerson's place and bat seventh in the lineup.
May 8 2015Dickerson (foot) is back in the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers, Nick Groke of The Denver Post reports.Dickerson missed the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader, but he said Friday afternoon that he feels fine. While his plantar fasciitis could flare up again at any time, it hasn't been much of an issue thus far.
May 8 2015Dickerson went 2-for-3 in the rain-shortened 2-1 loss to the Dodgers Friday.Dickerson missed his last game because of a plantar fascia flare-up, but looked good in the short rainout game. Keep an eye on him to see if his foot injuries continue to flare up as Dickerson is one of the best hitters in the league when he is healthy.
May 6 2015Dickerson's plantar fasciitis flared up during the first game of the Rockies' doubleheader Wednesday so he will be out of the lineup for the second game, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports. It's not clear how serious the flare up is, or if the second game Wednesday simply offered a prime opportunity to let him rest his foot. Earlier in the season the plantar fasciitis did not sideline him for long, but now that it is back the Rockies may take a more cautious approach. Rafael Ynoa will get the start in left field for the second half of Wednesday's doubleheader.
Apr 27 2015Dickerson went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in the Rockies' win over Arizona on Monday night. He left the game late for a defensive replacement, but Dickerson appears to be OK on the health front after missing two games over the weekend due to a quadriceps injury. For the season, Dickerson is carrying a gaudy .338/.384/.632 line, and he's now sitting in the No. 2 spot of the Colorado lineup.
Apr 27 2015Dickerson (quadriceps) will be in the lineup Monday against the Diamondbacks, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports. The Rockies haven't released their official batting order for the series opener just yet, but the team did confirm that Dickerson was ready to play after a two-game absence. The outfielder is still nursing a sore left quad on the heels of a plantar fasciitis injury, however, so expect him to be rather conservative on the bases. In any case, Dickerson's .317/.368/.635 batting line makes him worth keeping active even if it renders him a four-category player for the time being.
Apr 26 2015Dickerson (leg) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Giants, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson will get the day off after exiting Saturday's game early due to a ball fouled off his leg. Mix that with the recently-reported plantar fasciitis, and the cards were all in play for a maintenance day. Drew Stubbs will take over in left for Dickerson, making his first start of the season at that position. Consider Dickerson day-to-day in advance of Monday's series opener against the Diamondbacks.
Apr 25 2015Dickerson left Saturday's game due to a quad injury after fouling a ball off his left leg during an at-bat, the Denver Post reports.Dickerson has been dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot, so this is a new injury. Manager Walt Weiss said Dickerson's leg was "pretty swollen," so he may need a day off.
Apr 23 2015Dickerson (foot) went 2-for-3 with a homer, a walk and two runs before being removed from Thursday's game against San Diego in a double switch. It's curious to see Dickerson get pulled out of a 2-1 ballgame, but perhaps the Rockies just wanted to take advantage of the batting order to get his ailing foot some extra rest. Dickerson certainly hasn't seen the injury impact his offensive production, as he's sent three balls sailing over the fence in the last two days.
Apr 23 2015Dickerson (foot) hit two solo homers and drew a walk over his four plate appearances in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Padres. The two-homer game should at least temporarily quell concerns about Dickerson's bout with plantar fasciitis, which forced him out of Monday's series opener and limited him to a pinch-hitting role Tuesday. While any lingering pain in his foot could make Dickerson less active on the basepaths for the time being, it doesn't appear that his hit tool will be compromised. He's worth keeping active through at least the weekend, when the Rockies will wrap up their homestand with a three-game date with the Giants.
Apr 22 2015Dickerson (foot) is back in the lineup Wednesday against the Padres, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.Dickerson indicated Tuesday that he though he could play through the mild plantar faciitis in his foot, and he will make his first attempt at that Wednesday. He'll bat second in the order Wednesday and play his normal spot in left field.
Apr 21 2015Dickerson believes he will be able to play through his mild plantar fasciitis, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.Dickerson is out of the lineup Tuesday after aggravating the issue Monday night, but he said he thinks he could play. Further, because the issue does not affect his swing, Dickerson thinks he will be able to fight through it moving forward, though if it worsens the team may opt for an anti-inflammatory shot. The injury first surfaced late in spring training.
Apr 21 2015Dickerson (foot) is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Padres, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson left Monday's game early, and manager Walt Weiss revealed afterward that the outfielder has been battling plantar fasciitis in his left foot. The skipper described the issue as "mild" to this point, but said it "bit him" as he ran out of the batters box Monday. Charlie Blackmon will move to left field Tuesday while Drew Stubbs takes in center. Dickerson is listed on the lineup card as a reserve, but it's uncertain if he's actually available off the bench.
Apr 20 2015Dickerson was removed from Monday's game against the Rockies after the third inning with an apparent hamstring injury, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.Dickerson appeared to tweak his hamstring while racing out of the batter's box after grounding out. The Rockies were already facing a 9-0 deficit at the time of the incident, so it's possible that Dickerson was only removed from precautionary purposes. Manager Walt Weiss is expected to provide an update after the game on Dickerson, who should be viewed as day-to-day for the time being. Drew Stubbs entered the game to replace him in the outfield.
Apr 20 2015Dickerson is dealing with mild plantar fasciitis in his left foot and his status moving forward is uncertain, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson exited Monday's game against the Padres after two unfruitful at bats. He was replaced by Drew Stubbs and Stubbs seems to be the likely candidate for extra reps in the outfield if Dickerson is forced to miss extended time. Until the Rockies shed some light on the situation, Dickerson should be considered day-to-day ahead of Tuesday's game against the Padres.
Apr 20 2015Dickerson will hit second in the Rockies' order Monday against the Padres, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson's move up the order could be in an attempt to shake things up with Justin Morneau struggling to begin the season. It's possible the lineup change becomes permanent, but that has yet to be determined. If that does occur, however, owners should reap the benefits of having Dickerson hitting in front of Troy Tulowitzki in the order.
Apr 15 2015Dickerson went 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Giants.Dickerson plated the game's first run with his second-inning RBI single, then later collected his first triple of the season. The 25-year-old has done well to build off of his 2014 breakout thus far through eight games, batting .406 with two homers, 10 RBI, and eight runs scored.
Apr 11 2015Dickerson batted leadoff for the Rockies in Friday's win over the Cubs, going 1-for-4 with a walk, RBI, and run scored.Though both Dickerson and Charlie Blackmon are left-handed hitters, it was Dickerson who not only stayed in the lineup with southpaw Travis Wood on the mound, but occupied a prominent spot in the Rockies' lineup. While Dickerson's career marks against lefties (.231/.296/.377 batting line over 142 plate appearances) make him unappealing as a daily option in such scenarios, if he's able to avoid falling into a platoon with Drew Stubbs, it will still provide Dickerson with opportunities to rake in the counting stats for those who own him in season-long formats.
Apr 6 2015Dickerson went 2-for-5 with a homer and four RBI in Monday's 10-0 romp over the Brewers. The Rockies' lineups earlier in spring training seemed to suggest Dickerson would be tasked with batting second against right-handed pitchers, but he surprisingly slotted in at the sixth spot on Opening Day. The downgrade obviously didn't seem to impair him, as he swatted a two-run homer off Kyle Lohse in his first at-bat and would drive in two more on a fourth-inning double. The extra-base hits came with regularity last season for Dickerson, and with 500-plus plate appearances likely guaranteed in 2015 if health permits, he'll have good odds of providing even loftier counting stats.
Apr 4 2015Dickerson (back) batted second in Saturday's spring training finale, but could occasionally bat seventh at times.Obviously that sort of alignment would hurt Dickerson's value - it would necessarily entail fewer at-bats with fewer producers around him. Of course, if Dickerson is producing like he did last season, chances are that manager Walt Weiss would be less inclined to mess around with the order.
Apr 1 2015Dickerson returned to the lineup for Wednesday's spring training game and indicated his back is fine, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson exited Saturday's game early with lower-back tightness and has been sidelined since. While it's a good sign he's returned to the lineup, it's an issue to keep an eye on, as back injuries can resurface over the course of a season.
Apr 1 2015Dickerson was scratched from Wednesday's spring game, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson was slated to return to the lineup Wednesday after experiencing lower back tightness during Saturday's game, but it appears his return will be pushed back at least one more day. The 25-year-old earlier reported his back felt fine, so it's possible the team is just airing on the side of caution.
Mar 29 2015Dickerson left Saturday's spring training game after the second inning due to a tight lower back, the Denver Post reports.Dickerson was scheduled to travel to play in Colorado's spring training game in Mexico on Sunday, but he may not make the trip if his back is sore. It's not thought the injury is serious enough to put his Opening Day status in doubt, but watch his progress.
Mar 18 2015Dickerson has been routinely slotting into the second spot in the Rockies' lineup during Cactus League play, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports. While Dickerson figures to move down in the order against left-handed pitching, his favorable positioning ahead of Troy Tulowitzki, Carlos Gonzalez, and Nolan Arenado in the lineup should lend itself to plenty of run-scoring opportunities for the outfielder. Though his lack of success on the basepaths last season (8-for-15 on steal attempts) doesn't reflect it, Dickerson possesses enough speed to take the extra base, an ideal quality in a No. 2 hitter. In addition, his on-base skills and ample power should prove challenging to opposing pitchers, especially with Tulowitzki on deck behind him. With a guaranteed role heading into the season to go along with a cushy lineup spot, Dickerson looks poised to replicate his 2014 breakout.
Feb 27 2015Dickerson is in line to open the upcoming season as the Rockies' regular left fielder, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports. When injuries to Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer opened up a regular lineup spot last season, Dickerson took full advantage, batting .312/.364/.567 with 24 homers, 76 RBI, and eight stolen bases across 478 plate appearances. The allure of a full-time role in 2015 has Dickerson holding down a high spot on fantasy draft boards, but there's still a chance he or Charlie Blackmon could fall into a platoon with Drew Stubbs, given both outfielders' unimpressive career numbers against lefty pitching. That being said, any at-bats Dickerson may lose against lefty pitching or struggles he may have when used in such scenarios should be mostly negated by playing half his games at Coors Field, which will likely enable him to uphold a lofty batting average once again.
Sep 27 2014Dickerson has returned to his native Mississippi to witness the birth of his child and will not play in the Rockies' remaining two games, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Though Dickerson will fall short of logging enough plate appearances to qualify for a top-five performance in batting average in the National League, he'll still conclude his season with delightful numbers across the board. After an early-season demotion, Dickerson rejoined the Rockies in mid-April and never stopped hitting, finishing with a .312 batting average, .364 OBP, 24 homers and 76 RBI. While his production against left-handed pitching and his outfield defense could still stand to notice some improvement, Dickerson should enter 2015 with a full-time role in hand. The guaranteed at-bats should allow Dickerson to make another run at a .300 batting average, to go along with plus-power and a stolen base total in the low double-digits.
Sep 26 2014Dickerson is out of the lineup Friday against the Dodgers.Dickerson is coming off a 3-for-4 night at the plate Wednesday, but will get an extra day off Friday. Drew Stubbs will start in center field, while Charlie Blackmon will slide over from center to play left in his place.
Sep 25 2014Dickerson went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Padres. The three-hit night helped Dickerson boost his season batting average to .312, a mark that would be good for fourth in the National League if he were eligible for the batting title. Dickerson is still 24 plate appearances shy of the 502 needed for eligibility, and with only three games remaining for the Rockies, it seems unlikely he'll qualify.
Sep 23 2014Dickerson is out of the lineup Tuesday.Brandon Barnes will spell Dickerson in left field against lefty Robbie Erlin and the Padres. Dickerson has been a semi-regular for the Rockies for much of the season, and his numbers have remained excellent. However, his platoon splits (.253 average against lefties/.323 average against righties) could limit his at-bats to fewer than 500 in 2015, and his .349 BABIP should also give owners reason to pause when analyzing his tantalizing .308/.361/.565 slash line.
Sep 21 2014Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a triple, home run and two RBI in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks. With the home run, Dickerson's 24th of the season, he was able to overtake the injured Troy Tulowitzki for the team lead. After entering the campaign with some uncertainty regarding his role with the Rockies, Dickerson will have a regular starting job earmarked for him in 2015. He's slashing an incredible .312/.366/.574 over 465 plate appearances.
Sep 18 2014Dickerson is out of the lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. With lefty Vidal Nuno on the mound for the Diamondbacks, Dickerson and Charlie Blackmon will give way to Brandon Barnes and Drew Stubbs, respectively. Dickerson, who is hitting .309, is still 47 plate appearances shy of qualifying for a top-10 finish among the NL batting leaders, and Thursday's day off certainly won't help him in that regard.
Sep 17 2014Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a triple, home run and four RBI in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers. With Troy Tulowitzki's season coming to a premature end, there's an argument to be made for Dickerson as the team's MVP. The 25-year-old has been an extra-base machine for the Rockies, compiling 27 doubles, five triples and 23 homers while batting .307 overall. If he can pick up 52 more plate appearances before the end of the season, he'll have a good shot at joining teammate Justin Morneau as a top-five finisher on the NL batting average leaderboard.
Sep 14 2014Dickerson is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals.Dickerson's absence looks to be primarily due to strategic reasons, as the left-handed Marco Gonzales will start for the opposition. Brandon Barnes will cover left field in Dickerson's stead.
Sep 3 2014Dickerson went 2-for-5 with a pair of solo homers in the Rockies' win over the Giants on Wednesday. Both shots came against San Francisco starter Ryan Vogelsong, and the pair of long balls pushed Dickerson's season total to 22. After getting the starting nod again Wednesday, Dickerson has started 26 of the Rockies' past 27 contests, and he continues to make a very strong case for an everyday role in 2015.
Sep 3 2014Dickerson had a fine night at the plate Tuesday, going 2-for-2 with two walks, a double, three RBI and a run scored in the Rockies' loss to the Giants. After an 0-13 stretch to end August, Dickerson has picked it up this month and is 3-for-5 with three walks, three RBI and four runs scored in two September games. Dickerson continues to rake and now has 20 home runs and 66 RBI on the year, while boasting a .309/.368/.564 slash line in 362 at-bats.
Sep 2 2014Dickerson went 1-for-3 with a single, walk and three runs scored in Monday's 10-9 win over the Giants. The single was only Dickerson's third hit in his last 27 at-bats, spanning eight starts. However, thanks to his mid-August surge, he's still maintaining an average over .300, while owning the 10th-best HR/FB rate in the league among players with 350 plate appearances.
Aug 26 2014Dickerson is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Giants. With lefty Madison Bumgarner on the hill for San Francisco, manager Walt Weiss will take the opportunity to get Dickerson his first breather since Aug. 5. Dickerson has put together an outstanding sophomore season and has shown no signs of slowing down, with a .295/.304/.580 batting line and six homers so far in August.
Aug 24 2014Dickerson hit the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 13th inning to give the Rockies a 5-4 victory over the Marlins on Saturday. He finished 4-for-6 with a home run and two RBI.Dickerson sent the game into extra innings with a home run to tie the game in the ninth inning. He's having himself an excellent season, batting .322 with 19 home runs, 61 RBI, 58 runs, and eight stolen bases.
Aug 24 2014Dickerson hit the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 13th inning to give the Rockies a 5-4 victory over the Marlins on Saturday. He finished 4-for-6 with a homer and two RBIs.Dickerson also sent the game into extra innings with a home run to tie the game in the ninth. He's having himself an excellent season, with a .322 batting average, 58 runs, 19 home runs, 61 RBIs and eight stolen bases.
Aug 23 2014Dickerson went 1-for-5 with a homer and two RBI in Friday's loss to the Marlins. After claiming NL Player of the Week honors last week, Dickerson continued his power surge Friday, supplying his fifth homer in 11 games. His 18 homers on the season trail only Troy Tulowitzki (21) for tops on the Rockies.
Aug 18 2014Dickerson went 4-for-9 with a home run, three runs scored and five RBI during Sunday's doubleheader with the Reds.Dickerson has been incredibly hot throughout August, reeling off a 12-game hit streak while supplying a .973 OPS, four homers and 17 RBI so far this month. His scintillating performance of late should allow him to keep his bat in the lineup on a regular basis, even after Michael Cuddyer (shoulder) returned from the DL over the weekend.
Aug 13 2014Dickerson provided the only offense for his team Tuesday, as he clubbed his 16th home run of the year while going 2-for-4 at the plate in the Rockies' 4-1 loss to the Padres.Dickerson has been scorching hot of late and has a seven-game hitting streak going for him. He also has now hit a home run in three-straight games. With all the injuries the Rockies have endured (especially in the outfield), Dickerson has been a godsend and is now 12-28 in his last seven games with three home runs, a double, a triple and 10 RBI.
Aug 12 2014Dickerson clubbed a three-run homer in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Padres.Dickerson's 15th home run of the season gave the Rockies a short-lived 3-2 lead, before the bullpen squandered the advantage. The 25-year-old has shown no signs of slippage this season while maintaining a .318 average and .943 OPS, and should be guaranteed regular playing time down the stretch with Carlos Gonzalez's return uncertain.
Aug 7 2014Dickerson had a 4-for-4 night Wednesday against the Cubs with a double, triple, three RBI and three runs scored.Dickerson was in a 0-for-14 skid before tallying seven total bases Wednesday. The lefty improves his season line to .320/.381/.565 over 269 at-bats.
Aug 5 2014Dickerson is out of the Rockies' lineup Tuesday against the Cubs. The 25-year-old is just 1-for-his-last-21, and with a lefty in Travis Wood on the hill for Chicago, it seems like a good time to get him a mental break. Charlie Blackmon will move over to left field in Dickerson's absence, as Drew Stubbs steps in at center. Despite his recent struggles, Dickerson still has a .960 OPS against right-handers this season, so he should continue to be in the lineup more often than not.
Jul 30 2014Dickerson is out of the Rockies' lineup Wednesday against the Cubs, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. With left-hander Travis Wood on the hill for Chicago, manager Walt Weiss will sit two of his top lefty bats, Dickerson and Carlos Gonzalez. Dickerson has been battling groin issue of late, but he went 2-for-6 and played all 16 innings of Tuesday's game.
Jul 30 2014Dickerson (groin) went 2-for-6 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 16-inning loss to the Cubs.Dickerson was held out of Monday's lineup as a result of the groin issue, but his presence in the field for all 16 innings Tuesday suggests the team is fully comfortable with his health. The 25-year-old's production has yet to slow down since he joined the team in mid-April, as Dickerson enters play Wednesday with a .328/.394/.583 batting line to go along with 13 homers and eight stolen bases.
Jul 29 2014Dickerson (groin) is in the Rockies' lineup Tuesday against the Cubs, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. The team didn't say so explicitly, but Dickerson's absence from Monday's lineup was presumably due to the left groin injury he's been battling of late. It seems the day off provided sufficient maintenance for the issue, however, as Dickerson is penciled in to man left and bat second Tuesday against right-hander Edwin Jackson.
Jul 28 2014Dickerson is out of the lineup Monday against the Cubs.Dickerson has sat for the last two games the Rockies have faced a left-handed starter, and Monday will be no different, as manager Walt Weiss will elect to go with the right-handed bat of Brandon Barnes in left field. Dickerson owns a .325 batting average on the season, but is hitting just .250 over 48 at-bats against southpaws, so the move makes sense from a matchup standpoint. He'll likely return to action Tuesday when the Cubs send righty Edwin Jackson to the hill.
Jul 26 2014Dickerson is out of the lineup Saturday against the Pirates.Dickerson has made four straight starts for the Rockies, but will sit in favor of Brandon Barnes in left field. With lefty Jeff Locke on the mound for the opposing Pirates, manager Walt Weiss likely wants to stack his lineup with as many right-handed bats as possible.
Jul 23 2014Dickerson went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, two runs scored and one RBI in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Nationals.Dickerson got the scoring started for Colorado, doubling off Stephen Strasburg in the first inning to bring home Josh Rutledge, and he smacked another two-bagger in the fifth. Although he will likely continue to sit against tough lefties, Dickerson is batting a robust .354/.417/.641 with 11 homers against right-handers this season, and the Rockies will lean on him as a key run producer with Troy Tulowitzki (thigh) on the DL.
Jul 20 2014Dickerson is out of the lineup Sunday against the Pirates.Dickerson has started four straight games for the Rockies, but will get the day off in favor of Brandon Barnes on Sunday.
Jul 18 2014Dickerson was 2-for-4 with a walk, one RBI, and two steals in a losing effort against the Pirates on Friday night. He's hitting a nice .329 but has to fight for at bats in a crowded Colorado outfield. He hit lead-off and the two steals give him eight on the year so there is some value to be had in deeper or NL only leagues.
Jul 12 2014Manager Walt Weiss said Dickerson (wrist) was available as a pinch-hitter for Friday's game against the Twins, MLB.com's Cody Ulm reports.Though Dickerson didn't end up seeing any usage in the 6-2 victory, it seems his absence from Friday's lineup had less to do with his wrist injury that it did a lefty in Kris Johnson starting for the Twins. Weiss said Dickerson has made "a lot of improvement" over the last two days, with the implication that the outfielder could make his return to the lineup Saturday.
Jul 12 2014Dickerson (wrist) is back in the lineup Saturday against the Twins. The wrist injury cost Dickerson two games, but he was available off the bench Friday and has been given the green light to return to the lineup Saturday. With Carlos Gonzalez now back on the active roster, Dickerson's playing time figures to take at least a slight hit, but he'll likely continue to see most of the starts in left field against right-handers.
Jul 11 2014Dickerson (wrist) remains out of the lineup Friday against the Twins.Dickerson will miss a second straight start as a result of the wrist injury, and Carlos Gonzalez's return will afford manager Walt Weiss the option to stay away from him for the rest of the weekend. Once healthy, however, Dickerson will likely return to a near-everyday role in left field, with Gonzalez set for a full-time move to right. Weiss has said that he wants to keep the likes of Drew Stubbs and Brandon Barnes involved, but Dickerson is likely to continue starting against right-handers.
Jul 9 2014Dickerson (wrist) is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Padres.Dickerson is probably healthy enough to play and should be able to participate as a pinch-hitter if needed in Wednesday's contest, but the Rockies just wanted the outfielder to pump the brakes for a day after he almost suffered a serious wrist injury a night earlier. The fact that lefty Eric Stults is also the starting pitcher for the Padres might have further influenced manager Walt Weiss' decision to give the lefty-hitting Dickerson a breather.
Jul 9 2014Dickerson narrowly avoided a serious wrist injury while diving after a line drive in the ninth inning of Tuesday's game against the Padres, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson didn't come away with the catch on the play, but the Rockies are probably just happy to see him come away with his health intact. He remained in the game after testing his wrist with team trainer Keith Dugger, and X-rays after the game came back clean. It sounds like he'll be available for Wednesday's contest, though it wouldn't be entirely surprise if he was rested in an attempt to ward off any remaining soreness he might be experiencing.
Jul 6 2014Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run in Saturday's 8-7 win over the Dodgers.Dickerson's solo shot was one of eight unanswered runs scored by the Rockies, who had been quiet at the plate in recent games. In spite of the team's offensive decline, Dickerson's numbers remain strong, as the two-hit game boosted his season line to an impressive .340/.402/.618.
Jul 4 2014Dickerson is not in the lineup Friday against the Dodgers, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson has performed as one of the club's best hitters since returning from the minors in mid-April, but he'll likely find himself out of the lineup for two reasons. First, Clayton Kershaw carved up the Rockies for a 15-strikeout no-hitter the last time he faced them, so it's perhaps unsurprising that manager Walt Weiss will stack his lineup with as many right-handed hitters as he can. Secondly, Dickerson entered the week nursing a leg cramp, so he could benefit from another day out of the field. Brandon Barnes will fill in for him in Friday's starting nine.
Jul 1 2014Dickerson (leg) returned to the lineup Tuesday and went 0-for-3 with a walk in the leadoff spot against the Nationals.Stephen Strasburg was dealing, so the performance isn't in question here, it was just nice to see him play a full nine innings in the field after leg cramps forced him from Sunday's game and limited his at-bats Monday. Consider him healthy moving forward.
Jul 1 2014Dickerson (leg) is back in the lineup Tuesday against the Nationals.A leg cramp forced Dickerson from Sunday's game and kept him out of the lineup for the opener against Washington, but he did end up logging two at-bats off the bench Monday. He'll take over atop the order Tuesday with Charlie Blackmon sitting against Stephen Strasburg. Dickerson saw more at-bats in June than he saw in April and May combined, and he hit .344/.406/.583 with four homers and 19 RBI, but he'll be forced back into a part-time role when Carlos Gonzalez (finger) returns.
Jun 30 2014Dickerson (leg) is out of the lineup Monday against the Nationals.Dickerson left Sunday's game against the Brewers early due to a leg cramp, and will get another day off to rest and hydrate. Nick Groke of the Denver Post referred to the day off as a "minor rest day," adding that Dickerson was "a little banged up." A regular day off was likely in order anyway, as the 25-year-old has started 12 straight games in left field for the Rockies. It sounds like nothing too serious is in play here, so look for Dickerson to return to action for Tuesday's contest.
Jun 30 2014Dickerson was removed in the middle of his eighth-inning at-bat Sunday against the Brewers due to a leg cramp, the Denver Post reports. There were some initial fears that the injury might have been serious at the time of Dickerson's removal, but a cramp isn't likely to be anything that costs the outfielder much action, if any. For what it's worth, Dickerson believes he'll be ready to go for Monday's game, though manager Walt Weiss could keep him out of the lineup as a precaution. Despite leaving early Sunday, Dickerson managed to deliver another winning performance, going 2-for-4 at the dish with two RBI and two runs scored.
Jun 22 2014Dickerson had another shining performance Saturday against the Brewers, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the 9-4 loss.Dickerson has posted at least three hits in his last four starts, homering twice while driving in six runs and stealing a base. The 25-year-old is batting a sizzling .423 over 79 plate appearances at Coors Field this season and should continue to remain productive for the duration of the Rockies' six-game homestand.
Jun 21 2014Dickerson had a huge game Friday vs. the Brewers, supplying three runs, three RBI, a stolen base and four hits, including his ninth homer of the season.Dickerson was at the center of a Rockies attack that busted out for 10 runs after managing just three in total during their three-game series against the Dodgers earlier in the week. The four hits matched a season high for Dickerson and gave the outfielder his sixth multi-hit showing of the month. He's now slashing .343/.401/.636 on the season, and though his batting average has received a nice bump from playing at Coors Field, he's actually swatted five of his nine home runs on the road this season.
Jun 16 2014Dickerson is not in the lineup Monday against the Dodgers.Dickerson will find himself out of the lineup for the second straight day with a left-hander on the mound in Hyun-Jin Ryu. The Rockies have plenty of good outfield alternatives to Dickerson on nights he's not in the lineup in Brandon Barnes and Kyle Parker, but Dickerson will continue to see regular action for the most part while Michael Cuddyer and Carlos Gonzalez remain on the DL.
Jun 15 2014Dickerson is not in the lineup Sunday against the Giants, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.Dickerson has been the main beneficiary of injuries to Carlos Gonzalez (finger) and Michael Cuddyer (shoulder) but will take a seat Sunday. Charlie Blackmon will move over to cover for him in left field, with Drew Stubbs in center and Brandon Barnes in right. Dickerson has certainly made his case for more playing time once Colorado's outfield is healthy, as the 25-year-old is slashing .325/.392/.619 on the season.
Jun 10 2014Dickerson hit a solo homer in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Braves. He walked once and struck out twice in his remaining three plate appearances on the night. After receiving a day off Sunday, Dickerson reentered the lineup Monday and continued to remain productive, amassing his 15th extra-base hit in just 108 at-bats. He'll continue to log regular starts in the outfield for the foreseeable future with Carlos Gonzalez (finger) and Michael Cuddyer (shoulder) both looking like they could miss ample time.
Jun 8 2014Dickerson is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.Dickerson has made four straight starts in left field, but he'll take a seat against lefty Clayton Kershaw. Dickerson has a .324 batting average on the season, but is hitting just .231 against lefties, making Sunday a logical game for a day off. Righty Brandon Barnes will instead get the start.
Jun 5 2014Dickerson went 2-for-5 with a run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Diamdondbacks. With Carlos Gonzalez (finger) on the disabled list, it looks like Dickerson figures to be the greatest beneficiary most nights, particularly when right-handers are on the mound for the opposition. He was slotted second in the order Wednesday night and didn't disappoint, increasing his hitting streak to six games. The 25-year-old has showcased glimpses of both power and speed during his short time in the big leagues, and should provide excellent all-around production as he sees sustained at-bats.
Jun 4 2014Dickerson will man left field and bat second Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.Carlos Gonzalez was placed on the 15-day DL with left finger inflammation, opening the door for Dickerson to see regular playing time over the next several weeks. The 25-year-old Dickerson has compiled a .345/.398/.678 bating line with seven homers in 38 games this season (87 at-bats), and while he'll likely continue to sit against left-handers, he should occupy a prominent spot in the order whenever the team is facing a right-hander.
Jun 2 2014Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's loss to the Indians. The home run was Dickerson's second in as many games and gave him an impressive 14 extra-base hits in a mere 85 at-bats on the season. Playing in Cleveland the last three games allowed the Rockies to get an extra bat in the lineup at designated hitter, but there's a legitimate chance Dickerson will be able to maintain a spot in the lineup when the Rockies move back to National League parks this week. Manager Walt Weiss has recently transitioned right fielder Michael Cuddyer to third base in the wake of Nolan Arenado's (finger) placement on the disabled list, opening up an opportunity for either Dickerson or the similarly hot-hitting Drew Stubbs to pick up extra starts in the outfield. Dickerson seems likely to have the inside track over Stubbs due to his superior contact-hitting skills.
Jun 1 2014Dickerson will serve as the designated hitter Sunday against the Indians.Playing in an AL park will allow Dickerson to pick up his fourth straight start. While the Rockies' crowded outfield would seem to make it difficult for Dickerson to pick up at-bats when the team plays National League games, manager Walt Weiss has recently moved right fielder Michael Cuddyer to third base while Nolan Arenado (finger) remains on the DL. Should Cuddyer's defense at third base prove adequate, he could become a regular at that position, potentially creating an everyday spot in the outfield for Dickerson. The 25-year-old is batting .346/.402/.667 over 81 at-bats on the season, and would become an even more intriguing fantasy commodity with guaranteed playing time.
May 31 2014Dickerson wend 1-for-3 with a home run playing as the designated hitter on Saturday.Dickerson made his second straight start as the DH in the Rockies' lineup on Saturday. While many National League teams struggle to find an extra bat for the spot, the Rockies have an overload of outfielders, and the series has given Dickerson a chance for more playing time. Despite his .346/.402/.667 output this season, he will likely find himself back on the bench when the team returns home on Tuesday.
May 29 2014Dickerson went 1-for-2 and walked three times in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.Dickerson slotted in at the fifth spot in the order in place of Carlos Gonzalez, who was out of the lineup with a calf injury. While Dickerson has delivered a superb .405 on-base percentage in limited at-bats and would warrant some intrigue if more starts were to come his way, it doesn't look as though that will be the case as of now. Gonzalez was able to pinch-hit in Wednesday's game and be able to return to the lineup as soon as Friday.
May 19 2014Dickerson smacked his fifth homer of the season and drove in two runs in Sunday's 8-6 win over the Padres.Dickerson's exceptional production (.349 average, five homers, and 13 RBI) in limited duty (63 at-bats) would normally warrant more starts on most squads. However, with Carlos Gonzalez and Charlie Blackmon entrenched as starters and reigning NL batting champ Michael Cuddyer slated to return from the DL on Tuesday, Dickerson is more than likely headed back to the bench, if not the minors. The Rockies' incredible outfield depth is a good problem to have, perhaps making reserve players like Dickerson, Drew Stubbs or Brandon Barnes useful trade bait if the club decides to bolster its pitching staff.
May 14 2014Dickerson is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Royals, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports. After going 4-for-5 with two homers and four RBI Saturday against the Reds, Dickerson received starts in each of the Rockies' last two games. However, he was unable to do much with the uptick in at-bats, going just 1-for-8 with three strikeouts. Manager Walt Weiss will continue to employ a revolving door of Dickerson, Drew Stubbs and Brandon Barnes in the outfield until Michael Cuddyer returns from the disabled list.
May 10 2014Dickerson went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 11-2 win over the Reds.Serving as the No. 2 hitter for the second time in four games, Dickerson went back-to-back with Charlie Blackmon to lead off the game for the Rockies, and parked another one in the right field seats in the sixth inning. The 24-year-old is now batting .385/.404/.750 for the season (52 at-bats), but the team hasn't played him against left-handed pitching and isn't likely to do so, with both Drew Stubbs and Brandon Barnes on the roster. Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) will also be back in the mix eventually, but Dickerson probably has earned a larger role in the short term.
May 7 2014Dickerson will serve as the designated hitter and bat second Wednesday against the Rangers.Dickerson, who's batting a robust .359/.395/.641 against right-handed pitching, will move up to the two-hole Wednesday against Colby Lewis. He's logged just one plate appearance in the No. 2 spot to this point, as he's seen most of his time in the bottom third of the order. The Rockies will likely continue to shield Dickerson from left-handed pitching (just three at-bats this season), but me makes for an intriguing option when in the lineup.
May 1 2014Dickerson went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and an RBI in Thursday's 7-4 win over the Mets. With Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) on the disabled list, Dickerson has been splitting time in the outfield with Brandon Barnes and Drew Stubbs. As the only left-handed hitter of the trio, Dickerson is the best bet to start against right-handed pitching. Carlos Gonzalez (finger) is now day-to-day, so two of the three may start Friday against Mets right-hander Zack Wheeler. The owner of a .382/.417/.706 batting line through 36 plate appearances, Dickerson has made a strong case to get more playing time, so long as Cuddyer remains sidelined.
Apr 22 2014Dickerson went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 8-2 win over the Giants. With Michael Cuddyer landing on the disabled list Monday with a hamstring injury, Dickerson received the first opportunity to fill his spot in the lineup and didn't disappoint. As Monday's performance shows, Dickerson possesses the ability to provide both power and speed, and so long as he's getting at-bats, he's of immediate interest in NL-only and deeper leagues. In addition to Dickerson, look for Drew Stubbs and Brandon Barnes to also pick up some starts while Cuddyer remains sidelined.
Apr 14 2014Dickerson was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Monday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson made the Opening Day roster but was optioned to Colorado Springs after the first week of the season. He'll help with outfield depth and could see some playing time, but a red-hot (and left-handed hitting) Charlie Blackmon has been getting most of the starts in center field, while Drew Stubbs still figures to see some playing time against left-handed pitching. To make matters even worse, the Rockies are carrying six outfielders, with Brandon Barnes also on the roster.
Apr 7 2014Dickerson was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs, MLB.com reports.Dickerson has appeared in three of the Rockies' seven contests to date, including one start. Overall, though, he totaled just five at-bats, with one single, one walk, one stolen base, and two runs to his name. An injury or general ineffectiveness among others in the big club's outfield are likely the sole precursors to a call-up later in the season.
Mar 29 2014Dickerson has made the Rockies' Opening Day roster, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. In a surprise decision, manager Walt Weiss decided to keep six outfielders on his Opening Day roster, as the team never decided on an everyday center fielder during spring training. Expect the competition to rage on in the regular season, with Charlie Blackmon and Dickerson seeing most of the at-bats against right-handed starters, while Brandon Barnes and Drew Stubbs draw into the lineup against southpaws.
Mar 13 2014The four-man outfield competition between Dickerson, Charlie Blackmon, Drew Stubbs and Brandon Barnes remains hotly contested so far this spring, Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports. While the sample size remains small, Dickerson and Barnes have had the best springs at the plate thus far, while Stubbs has demonstrated the best range in center field. And though Blackmon hasn't stood out in any one area this spring, he performed superbly for the Rockies while playing regularly in the second half when Carlos Gonzalez missed time due to injury. Dickerson, Blackmon and Stubbs are probably the most realistic contenders for starting duties, with a platoon situation between three of the four outfielders a distinct possibility as well.
Feb 13 2014The winner of the left field competition between Dickerson, Charlie Blackmon and Drew Stubbs would likely serve as the Rockies' leadoff hitter this season, Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports. The offseason trade of Dexter Fowler creates a void at the top of the order for the Rockies that none of the team's other regulars are well-equipped to fill, leaving the three competitors jockeying for more than just a starting job. With power bats in Michael Cuddyer, Carlos Gonzalez, Troy Tulowitzki, Wilin Rosario and Justin Morneau expected to round out the top six spots, run-scoring opportunities should be plentiful for whomever emerges as the victor in the job battle. Although the Rockies will likely give all three outfielders the chance to claim the job outright in the spring, it remains possible that the team settles for a platoon at the position. In that scenario, either Dickerson or Blackmon would bat leadoff against opposing right-handed starters, while Stubbs would top the order against southpaws.
Dec 13 2013The recent trade of Dexter Fowler leaves Dickerson and Charlie Blackmon as the leading candidates to win an Opening Day starting job in the outfield, the Denver Post reports. With Carlos Gonzalez moving over to center in place of the departed Fowler, Dickerson and Blackmon (and Brandon Barnes, to a lesser degree) will jockey for left field duty after both players flashed potential while playing regularly in the second half of last season. Blackmon would seem to have the upper hand by virtue of his more neutral home/road splits, but the competition should be heavily contested in the spring. Whomever emerges as the winner would likely serve as the Rockies' leadoff hitter out of the gate, creating an excellent opportunity to bolster their run totals.
Sep 21 2013Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a run scored against the Diamondbacks on Friday.Dickerson has been a nice find for fantasy owners this year as he's batting .306 with four home runs and 14 RBI since the All Star break and has seen regular playing time since the start of August. He's hit safely in his last four games and is a solid option here at the tail-end of the season if you're in need of outfield help.
Sep 20 2013Dickerson went 3-for-7 with two triples and two RBI in Thursday's extra-inning victory over the Cardinals.Dickerson's second triple of the game helped drive in the winning run for the Rockies, concluding the second-longest game in the history of Coors Field. Though he's only played 62 games for the Rockies, Dickerson's six triples tie him for the team lead with Carlos Gonzalez.
Sep 11 2013Dickerson went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Giants.Dickerson is now batting .360 over 25 at-bats in September, making a strong case for playing time in left field once Dexter Fowler (knee) returns from injury. However, Dickerson's main competition for at-bats in the outfield, Charlie Blackmon, has recorded two hits in back-to-back games, meaning that both could be forced to share the position when Fowler comes back.
Sep 7 2013Dickerson (leg) is in the lineup Saturday against the Padres.A bout of knee tendinitis limited Dickerson to pinch-hit duty for most of the week, but the 24-year-old will return Saturday to take on right-hander Tyson Ross. The timing is convenient for Colorado, as Dexter Fowler just aggravated his knee injury Friday.
Sep 2 2013Dickerson was diagnosed with left knee tendinitis after leaving Monday's game, the Denver Post's Troy Renck reports. While this doesn't sound like an issue that will necessarily require a stint on the disabled list, the report doesn't say anything about the severity of the injury. Dickerson saw 75 at-bats in the month of August and will likely continue to see a good amount of playing time until Carlos Gonzalez (finger) returns. Gonzalez was scratched from his rehab assignment Monday, and may need more time off.
Sep 2 2013Dickerson was removed from Monday's game with a possible leg injury, the Denver Post's Troy Renck reports.Dickerson entered the game as a pinch hitter and doubled, but he immediately gave way to a pinch runner. He was apparently favoring his leg, though the Rockies have yet to announce any injury.
Aug 31 2013Dickerson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in the Rockies' loss to the Reds on Saturday.Dickerson began August on a roll, but he entered Saturday's game on a 3-for-24 skid. That cold streak, combined with Michael Cuddyer's return the outfield, resulted in less frequent playing time for Cuddyer. However, there is still playing time to be had in the outfield with Dexter Fowler (knee) and Carlos Gonzalez (finger) hurt.
Aug 20 2013Dickerson is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Phillies.Dickerson has been playing regularly in Carlos Gonzalez's absence and he has hit safely in each of his 11 starts in the month of August. He has a .362 batting average on the month which includes one home run, two triples, and five RBI. Charlie Blackmon will start in left field Tuesday.
Aug 13 2013Dickerson rapped out two doubles and scored three runs in Monday's win over the Padres.Dickerson and Charlie Blackmon continue to vie for at-bats in place of the injured Carlos Gonzalez (finger) in left field, but Monday's performance may have cemented Dickerson as the clubhouse leader. Blackmon probably plays sounder defense of the two, but Dickerson boasts a better ability to hit for extra bases, which may be more desirable for a Rockies squad that struggled mightily for offensively during its recent 1-9 road trip.
Aug 9 2013Dickerson's home run accounted for the Rockies' only run in a 2-1 loss to the Mets on Thursday. Both Dickerson and Charlie Blackmon are slated to fill in at left field while Carlos Gonzalez (finger) is on the DL, and both players have performed mostly acceptably when called upon thus far. Dickerson especially has been a model of consistency, supplying a hit in seven of the last eight games he's appeared in.
Jul 29 2013Dickerson went 2-for-4 and swatted his first career home run in Sunday's win over the Brewers.Dickerson's nice day was essentially amounted to a spot start as Carlos Gonzalez tended to his sore finger. Gonzalez is unlikely to land on the DL as a result of the injury, which could relegate Dickerson to reserve outfield duty during most of his time with the Rockies.
Jul 26 2013Dickerson was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday. The Rockies just wanted some outfield insurance while Carlos Gonzalez remains day-to-day with a finger injury, so expect Dickerson's stay to be relatively brief. He wasn't especially impressive in his first stint with the big club earlier this season, batting .212 over 33 at-bats.
Jul 11 2013Dickerson was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Thursday.Dickerson's first taste of the big leagues didn't go especially smooth, as the 24-year-old batted 7-for-33 (.212) with no homers and two RBI. He was demoted in light of Dexter Fowler (hand) receiving clearance to return from the disabled list.
Jul 10 2013The Rockies are expected to demote Dickerson to the minors in order to make room for Dexter Fowlers' (hand) return from the DL, Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports.Dickerson struggled in his stint in the majors, batting .212 with no homers in 33 at-bats. It makes sense that the club would send their struggling rookie back down to the minors in order to get him everyday at-bats. Expect an official move to be made Thursday.
Jun 21 2013Dickerson will be added to the Rockies' active roster Friday, the Denver Post reports. With Dexter Fowler still dealing with a finger injury and Tyler Colvin struggling at the plate, the team will bring Dickerson up to help bolster the outfield, though it's uncertain how they'll make room. The 24-year-old Dickerson is hitting .386/.429/.646 with nine homers and 38 RBI so far at Triple-A Colorado Springs so far this season.
Jun 21 2013The Rockies officially purchased Dickerson's contract Friday. The 24-year-old outfielder was brought up to help out with Dexter Fowler (finger) still ailing and Tyler Colvin struggling. Not only did Dickerson hit .386/.429/.646 with nine homers at Triple-A Colorado Springs to begin the year, he also added 19 doubles and legged out 13 triples.
