Jun 17 2025Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a three-run double in Tuesday's win over the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna delivered a clutch, bases-clearing double in the eighth inning to knot the game up at 4-4. He produced six RBI through his first 10 games this month but has since driven in eight runs in four games. Ozuna has produced two multi-hit efforts over his last 13 contests and now owns a .257/.389/.427 slash line through 298 plate appearances.
Jun 14 2025Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Friday's 12-4 win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna established a season high in RBI while crushing his 11th homer of the year, a three-run shot in the seventh inning off Victor Vodnik. The 34-year-old slugger has struggled to find his power stroke lately, slashing just .208/.310/.306 with two long balls, one double and 10 RBI over his last 84 plate appearances, but Ozuna does have 10 walks during that 19-game span.
Jun 2 2025Ozuna is playing through a hip injury that he'll likely need to manage throughout the season, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna's hip issue doesn't appear to be an immediate threat to him playing in the team's upcoming series against Arizona, but it's worth noting that he'll presumably receive more days off than usual as the campaign unfolds. "It's one of those things he is going to have to manage and get to the offseason," stated general manager Alex Anthopoulos. The veteran slugger has only sat out of three matchups this year, so it appears he's been successful in managing the injury to this point.
May 30 2025Ozuna went 2-for-7 with three walks and two runs scored across both games of Thursday's doubleheader split with the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran DH reached base multiple times in each contest, extending his on-base streak to 11 games in the process. During that stretch, Ozuna's slashing .333/.480/.564 with three homers, six RBI and eight runs, and his current .428 OBP on the season would shatter his previous career high over a full campaign of .378, a mark he set last year. Ozuna did post a .431 OBP over 60 games in the abbreviated pandemic season of 2020.
May 22 2025Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk, two total RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 8-7 extra-inning loss to Washington. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna went back-to-back with Matt Olson in the first inning. This was Ozuna's third homer in the last four games, a span in which he's 7-for-15 (.467) with six RBI and a 4:4 BB:K. The designated hitter struggled for power in late April and early May, but he seems to have bounced back. He's now batting. 278 with a .913 OPS, nine homers, 24 RBI, 24 runs scored, six doubles and no stolen bases across 46 contests.
May 18 2025Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, three RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 10-4 win over the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna drove in a run on a single in the third inning and crushed a 430-foot two-run homer in the eighth. The long ball was his second in as many days, and the 34-year-old has produced five extra-base hits and nine RBI over his past 10 contests. On the year, he's slashing .267/.420/.467 with eight home runs, 22 RBI and 22 runs scored across 193 plate appearances.
May 17 2025Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run and two walks in Saturday's loss to the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna entered Saturday having gone hitless over his past two games, but he snapped that stretch with a 417-foot solo homer in the first frame. The veteran DH added two walks and has now drawn an MLB-high 39 free passes this season. Ozuna's batting average is down a bit at .260 so far this season, but his OBP sits at ,415 -- which is on pace for the second-highest mark of his career -- thanks to his patience and keen eye at the plate.
May 12 2025Ozuna went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an RBI single in Monday's 4-3 win over Washington. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna put Atlanta on the board with an RBI single in the third inning and extended the lead to two runs in the fifth with a solo homer off Jake Irvin. It was Ozuna's sixth home run of the season and first since April 26 against the Diamondbacks. He's gone 9-for-37 with two runs scored, one home run and three RBI since the beginning of May.
Apr 18 2025Ozuna (hip) will start at designated hitter and bat third in Friday's contest versus the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna missed the entirety of this week's series in Toronto because of hip inflammation, but he's apparently feeling better after a few days of rest. The 34-year-old has cracked three homers while putting up a 1.008 OPS in his first 15 games this season.
Apr 14 2025Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Monday that Ozuna will be unavailable for the team's three-game series in Toronto due to hip inflammation, Barrett Sallee of 680 The Fan reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna was sent back to Atlanta to undergo an MRI, which showed inflammation in the hip but no other serious concerns, per Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He is considered day-to-day but will remain in Atlanta until the team returns home Friday. Bryan De La Cruz will start at designated hitter in Monday's series opener in Toronto.
Apr 11 2025Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna reduced the deficit to three runs in the eighth inning when he drove a 92 mph fastball from Edwin Uceta deep for a 425-foot solo homer to left-center field. Ozuna has logged home runs in back-to-back games and has three in his last six outings. Over that six-game span he has gone 10-for-25 with two walks, seven runs, three home runs and six RBI.
Apr 10 2025Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a double and a two-run home run in Thursday's 4-2 extra-inning victory over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna doubled to left field for Atlanta's first hit of the game in the first inning, and he later crushed a two-run homer off Phillies right-hander Joe Ross to walk it off in the 11th frame following a lengthy rain delay. After beginning the season just 2-for-12, Ozuna is on a tear in April thus far, hitting .385 with two big flies, two doubles, five RBI and seven walks across 26 at-bats.
Apr 4 2025Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 10-0 win over Miami. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After doubling to plate two runs in the third inning, Ozuna had a call on the field overturned by umpire review to give him his first homer of the campaign in the seventh frame. Despite Friday marking his first long ball of 2025, Ozuna is still hitting a strong .286 with five RBI, one double, six runs scored and a whopping 13 walks through 34 plate appearances so far this year.
Mar 29 2025Ozuna went 0-for-1 with three walks and one strikeout during Saturday's 1-0 loss to the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna struck out in the first inning, but he showed more discipline over his next three plate appearances and manage to draw three walks for the fifth time in his major-league career. Ozuna has gone 2-for-7 with six walks and two RBI across the first three games of the season.
Mar 21 2025Ozuna went 1-for-2 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger took Kyle Tyler deep in the fifth inning, giving Ozuna his third long ball of the spring. While his .229 batting average (8-for-35) in Grapefruit League play isn't impressive, Ozuna seems to have his timing down at the plate -- five of those hits have gone for extra bases, and he sports a sharp 4:4 BB:K.
Feb 26 2025Ozuna went 1-for-2 with a walk and a two-run home run in Tuesday's split-squad game against the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger took Noah Davis deep in the fourth inning for his first long ball of the spring. Ozuna is heading into the final year of his current contract after Atlanta picked up his $16 million option for 2025 in November, and the 34-year-old could be in line for a big payday next winter despite his age if he puts together another strong campaign -- over the last two seasons, he boasts a .289/.364/.552 slash line with 79 homers and 204 RBI.
Nov 4 2024Atlanta exercised Ozuna's $16 million club option for 2025, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The transaction was a given after Ozuna batted .302/.378/.546 with 39 home runs and 104 RBI in 2024. He is a full-time designated hitter at this point in his career, having not played a single inning in the outfield this season, but Ozuna should be a middle-of-the-order force again in 2025 in what will be his age-34 season.
Oct 4 2024Atlanta president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos said Friday that the team plans to exercise Ozuna's $16 million club option for 2025, Grant McAuley of 92.9 The Game Atlanta reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The decision was a gimme after Ozuna slashed .302/.378/.546 with 39 home runs and 104 RBI in 2024. Ozuna didn't play a single inning in the outfield this season, so Jorge Soler will have to play the outfield in 2025 if Atlanta intends on him being a regular next season. It's not ideal from a defensive standpoint, but Atlanta wasn't going to let Ozuna walk after he was its best offensive player in 2024.
Sep 18 2024Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, an RBI double, a double and an additional run scored during Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Reds. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna snapped a streak of 26 games without a home run, taking Tony Santillan yard in the seventh inning. In September, Ozuna is 17-for-56 (.304) with seven runs, two RBI and almost as many walks (10) as strikeouts (11).
Aug 18 2024Ozuna went 3-for-3 with a three-run homer, a walk and three runs scored in Saturday's win over the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna crushed a hanging slider from Griffin Canning 437 feet over the wall in center field in his first at-bat to score Michael Harris and Austin Riley, giving the veteran slugger his 36th long ball of the campaign and his fifth this month. Ozuna also added two leadoff singles in the contest, marking his second-consecutive three-hit performance, and his sixth multi-hit effort in his last 10 games overall. Over that latter stretch he's batting .428 (18-for-42) with four homers, seven RBI and nine runs scored.
Aug 16 2024Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a walk and one run scored in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna was the only Atlanta batter to record multiple hits in the contests. He's shown no signs of slowing down in August, going 19-for-61 (.311) with four homers over 15 contests this month. He's up to a .302/.374/.580 slash line, 35 home runs, 90 RBI, 75 runs scored and 23 doubles across 122 games this season.
Aug 9 2024Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Thursday's loss to the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was a rough night for Atlanta overall in a 16-7 rout, but Ozuna did what he could with a solo shot in the seventh inning off Bryse Wilson and an RBI groundout in the eighth. The veteran slugger is up to 33 homers and 88 RBI on the season, and he's been on a rampage over the last month, slashing .323/.377/.656 in his last 25 games with 10 long balls, 15 RBI and 19 runs.
Aug 3 2024Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Miami. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna went four games without a homer, going 3-for-17 with nine strikeouts and no extra-base hits in that span. The 33-year-old slugger remains in second place in the National League for homers with 32 this year, one behind the Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani. For the season, Ozuna has added a stellar .300/.374/.583 slash line, 86 RBI, 69 runs scored, 20 doubles and no stolen bases through 110 contests.
Jul 30 2024Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He opened the scoring in the game by taking Colin Rea deep in the fourth inning. Ozuna has homered in three of the last four games, boosting his total on the season to 31. Over the last 15 games he's slashing a blistering .382/.452/.818 with eight home runs, 10 RBI and 13 runs.
Jul 29 2024Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's 8-3 loss to Milwaukee. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna has homered in three of the last four games, and he's hit 10 long balls over 23 contests in July. The designated hitter is up to 31 homers, 83 RBI, 66 runs scored, 20 doubles and a .306/.384/.596 slash line through 105 games this season. Atlanta's trade for Jorge Soler from San Francisco on Monday shouldn't have much of an effect on Ozuna, as Soler will likely be the one to pick up playing time in the outfield.
Jul 28 2024Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He took Tylor Megill deep in the fourth inning, the first of three solo shots by Atlanta off the right-hander. Ozuna has gone yard in back-to-back games to reach 30 on the season, and he's finishing July in style, slashing .404/.466/.827 over the last 14 contests with seven homers and nine RBI.
Jul 27 2024Ozuna went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He drove an Eric Orze changeup over the left-field fence in the sixth inning, but Atlanta was already in an 8-2 hole at that point. Ozuna has somehow gotten even hotter at the plate in July, collecting multiple hits in nine of his last 13 games and batting .417 (20-for-48) over that stretch with six homers. The 33-year-old DH sits one long ball short of his third career 30-homer campaign, and 19 RBI shy of reaching triple digits for the third time.
Jul 21 2024Ozuna went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader split against the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After going 1-for-4 in the matinee, Ozuna piled up 855 feet worth of long balls off Sonny Gray in the nightcap, accounting for half of the four homers Atlanta slugged off the right-hander in a losing effort. Ozuna has hit safely in eight straight games, and through 62 plate appearances in July he's slashing .328/.355/.724 with seven home runs and 12 RBI. The 33-year-old needs to go yard twice more in 2024 to record the third 30-homer campaign of his career, and he's on pace to top the career-high 40 he launched just last season.
Jul 12 2024Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in Friday's 6-1 win over the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This was Ozuna's fourth straight multi-hit game, and he's swatted five homers over his last eight contests. He put up Atlanta's first and last runs in the win. For the year, the slugger is up to 26 homers, 77 RBI, 57 runs scored, 20 doubles and a .301/.377/.584 slash line through 93 games. Ozuna hit a career-high 40 long balls last year and looks to have a decent chance to match that number in 2024.
Jul 11 2024Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The All-Star slugger singled in his first at-bat before coming home on a Travis d'Arnaud double in the second as Atlanta took an early 2-0 lead. Ozuna then launched a 441-foot home run in the eighth to score Austin Riley and tie the game at 5-5. It was Ozuna's second consecutive two-hit performance, and he's now fourth in the majors with 24 long balls on the season, and third in RBI with 75. He's batting .257 (9-for-35) in July with three homers, eight RBI and seven runs scored.
Jul 6 2024Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna has homered in back-to-back games, and Saturday saw him produce his first multi-hit effort since June 23. The designated hitter has lost some consistency at the plate after hitting well early in June, but he's still a major power threat. Ozuna is slashing .298/.379/.571 with 23 homers, 72 RBI, 51 runs scored and 19 doubles across 87 contests this season.
Jun 28 2024Ozuna went 1-for-2 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Friday's 6-1 victory over Pittsburgh. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran designated hitter faced Martin Perez in the third inning with the bases loaded and laced a bases-clearing double to push Atlanta's lead to 4-0. Ozuna keeps his hot June cooking as he entered slashing .286/.369/.505 with five homers, 15 runs scored and 15 RBI over 103 plate appearances before this performance. The 33-year-old looks bound for his third All-Star appearance, as he's hitting .304 with 21 homers, 47 runs scored and 67 RBI total this season.
Jun 22 2024Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna opened the scoring with his first-inning homer. He's up to 21 long balls on the year, and he's hit five of them while batting .315 (23-for-73) over 19 contests in June. That's right on track with where he's been all year -- the 33-year-old is hitting .312 with a .986 OPS, 64 RBI, 45 runs scored and no stolen bases over 74 games this season while maintaining his usual spot in the heart of Atlanta's order.
Jun 15 2024Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run against Tampa Bay in Saturday's 9-2 victory. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna hit one of three Atlanta homers in the fifth inning, cracking a two-run shot to center field. The long ball was Ozuna's 20th of the campaign, third-most in the majors. He's reached 20 homers in a season eight times in his career, including in each of the past three campaigns.
Jun 6 2024Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run in a 5-2 win against Washington on Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna gave Atlanta some breathing room with his two-run, eighth-inning blast that extended his team's lead from one run to three. It was the slugger's 18th long ball of the campaign, moving him into fourth place in the majors. Ozuna also ranks second with 55 RBI while slashing an excellent .312/.389/.611 through 252 plate appearances.
May 29 2024Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger broke open a scoreless tie when he took Jacob Barnes deep in the seventh inning, continuing his most recent hit streak. Ozuna has reached base safely in 21 straight games, a stretch in which he's slashing .324/.409/.662 with seven homers and 16 RBI.
May 20 2024Ozuna went 3-for-7 with two solo homers, an additional run, a double and a walk across both games of Monday's doubleheader versus the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna came into Monday without a homer over his past eight contests, but he snapped that drought with a solo shot in each game of the doubleheader. The slugger simultaneously extended his hitting streak to 13 games, during which he's batting an even .400 with five long balls, three doubles and 11 RBI. Ozuna ranks third in MLB with 14 homers on the campaign.
May 9 2024Ozuna went 2-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI in Wednesday's win over the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna jumped on a hanging four-seamer from Nick Pivetta in the bottom of the first and launched it into the stands in right field for a three-run shot to put Atlanta on the board. The veteran slugger followed up with another long ball in the third, this time a solo shot on the first pitch he saw, giving him a league-leading 12 home runs on the season. Ozuna also leads the major leagues in RBI with 38 and has now driven in at least one run in three straight games.
May 6 2024Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna was the only Atlanta player with multiple hits as well as the only one with an extra-base hit in Sunday's loss. He took James Paxton deep to right center in the seventh for his first long ball since April 21. He's now back tied atop the leaderboard with 10 home runs on the year and leads all of baseball with 33 RBI. Ozuna is slashing .306/.382/.603 with 16 extra-base hits, 21 runs and a 15:27 BB:K in 136 plate appearances.
Apr 22 2024Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and a walk in Sunday's loss to the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna drilled a three-run shot off Michael Lorenzen in the opening frame to give Atlanta an early lead. He's picked up right where he left off from last season with his hot bat and currently leads the league with nine home runs and 27 RBI to go along with a slash line of .338/.404/.713.
Apr 18 2024Ozuna went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Astros. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger got Atlanta on the board in the second inning, leading off the frame by crushing a J.P. France sweeper 432 feet to left field. Ozuna is tied with Mike Trout for the MLB lead with eight homers, and Wednesday's blast extended his hitting streak to 16 games -- a stretch in which he's slashed .379/.431/.788 with 13 runs and 23 RBI, in addition to all eight long balls.
Apr 14 2024Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run, a double and four RBI in Sunday's 9-7 win over the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna notched an RBI-double in the top of the seventh inning before launching a three-run homer off reliever Tanner Scott in the ninth, giving Atlanta a 9-7 lead. The long-ball was his seventh of the season and the 33-year-old extended his hit streak to 13 straight games. On the year, Ozuna is batting .373 with the seven homers, 21 RBI and 11 runs scored over 59 at-bats in 14 contests.
Apr 13 2024Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a walk, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Friday's 8-1 win over the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger capped his big day with a solo shot off Matt Andriese in the ninth inning. Ozuna's been red hot begin the season, batting .360 (18-for-50) through 12 games with six homers, 10 runs and 16 RBI, and the former Marlin continues to enjoy hitting in LoanDepot Park -- through 347 career games in Miami, Ozuna has slashed .295/.347/.496 with 57 home runs.
Apr 9 2024Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run Monday against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna tagged Mets' starter Julio Teheran in the third inning for the two-run shot, continuing the outfielders' monstrous start to 2024. He's now tied with Mike Trout, Mookie Betts and Tyler O'Neill for the most long balls in MLB and is part of a four-way tie for the third-most RBI (12).
Apr 6 2024Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI on Saturday in a 9-8 win over the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Atlanta was down 6-0 before they got a chance to bat. Ozuna got the scoring going for his club with an RBI double in the fourth and he made it a game with a three-run blast in the fifth before Atlanta eventually completed the comeback. The designated hitter is already up to four home runs on the season, which trails only Mookie Betts.
Apr 3 2024Ozuna went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger took Garrett Crochet deep to left field in the seventh inning before launching a Michael Kopech fastball to nearly the same spot in the ninth, but it was all the offense Atlanta could muster. Ozuna has gone just 5-for-22 (.227) to begin the season with an 0:5 BB:K, but three of those hits have left the yard. The 33-year-old is looking to match the career-high 40 homers he clubbed in 2023.
Mar 12 2024Ozuna went 1-for-3 in Monday's 3-0 Grapefruit League win over the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran DH appears set to thrive as part of what will be another stacked Atlanta lineup in 2024. Ozuna is hitting .407 with a 1.004 OPS through 27 Grapefruit League at-bats. Ozuna belted 40 home runs last season for an offense that was clicking all season, and his spring performance has done nothing to suggest he won't be a prolific power source again in 2024.
Oct 2 2023Ozuna went 2-for-3 with two homers, a walk and four RBI in Sunday's 10-9 loss to the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna got his day going with a three-run blast in the third before sending out his 40th home run of the season in the ninth. Ozuna finished with seven RBI over the final two games of the year and ends the regular season with 100 RBI for the first time since 2017. Ozuna also reached 40 homers for the first time in his career and has had a tremendous bounce back campaign. The 32-year-old heads into the playoffs slashing .274/.346/.558. His .904 OPS and .284 ISO were both his highest marks since the shortened 2020 season.
Oct 1 2023Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a triple and a three-run home run in Saturday's win over the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna tagged Jordan Weems for a three-run shot in the fifth inning, marking the outfielder's 38th long ball of 2023. Over his last 12 games, Ozuna is 17-for-49 (.347) with four home runs and 15 RBI while striking out at a 26.4 percent clip.
Sep 24 2023Ozuna is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Nationals, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna started the previous 10 games but will sit for Game 1 on Sunday after he posted a .300/.364/.625 slash line during that stretch. Ronald Acuna will rest his legs as the DH while Kevin Pillar starts in right field.
Sep 11 2023Ozuna is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader with the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna has cooled a bit since his recent power surge and went 0-for-4 in the first game of Monday's twin bill, so manager Brian Snitker decided to prevent him from playing a full nine innings in the nightcap. Ronald Acuna will serve as Atlanta's designated hitter Monday night, and Kevin Pillar will replace Acuna in right field.
Sep 1 2023Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Friday's 6-3 win over the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna ended August with seven homers over his last 10 games, and he kept that prodigious power streak going right into September. Across his last 11 games, he's batting .488 (20-for-41) with 12 extra-base hits. Prior to the surge, Ozuna was batting .249 and slugging .477 -- those marks are now at .272 and .543, respectively. He's up to 32 homers, 76 RBI, 71 runs scored and 20 doubles through 118 contests overall.
Aug 31 2023Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna's two-out sixth-inning blast off Kyle Freeland was his 31st home run of the season and his seventh in the past nine games. Though he's part of a star-studded Atlanta lineup, Ozuna's contributions shouldn't be overlooked. He's produced a .301/.371/.641 slash line with 14 home runs, 35 RBI and 32 runs since the All-Star break, paying handsome dividends for those who invested a late-round pick into him on draft day.
Aug 30 2023Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 3-1 victory over Colorado. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna connected on a solo home run in the second inning off Peter Lambert, marking the outfielders' sixth home run of his last eight games. Over that stretch, Ozuna is 15-for-30 (.500) with 11 runs scored and 13 RBI. He's also collected a hit in 24 of his last 25 games and is slashing .267/.340/.529 on the season (115 games).
Aug 28 2023Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Sunday's loss to the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger got hold of a first-pitch slider from Scott Alexander in the sixth inning and drove it over the wall in left-center field, bringing Atlanta to within a run, but the NL East leaders were never able to find an equalizer in an eventual 8-5 loss. Ozuna has hit safely in six straight games and 22 of his last 23, ripping off a .386/.457/.735 slash line during that blistering stretch with seven of his 29 homers and 21 of his 70 RBI on the season.
Aug 23 2023Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, four RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna was a triply shy of the cycle, but he hasn't hit a three-bagger since 2019, so he wasn't all that close to the feat. He was again the driving force of Atlanta's offense, logging his fourth multi-hit effort in his last five games. He has four homers and seven RBI in that span. For the season, the 32-year-old is slashing .262/.334/.519 with 28 homers, 67 RBI, 62 runs scored and 18 doubles through 110 contests.
Aug 22 2023Ozuna went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Monday's 10-4 loss to the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 32-year-old outfielder got the better of David Peterson on Monday, blasting two solo shots off the Mets' starter. Ozuna's first homer marked an historic achievement for Atlanta, as it now boasts five players with 25-plus home runs for the first time in franchise history. The slugger has now hit safely in 17 of his last 18 contests, posting a .348/.419/.621 slash line with four homers, 13 RBI and 13 runs scored during that stretch.
Aug 16 2023Ozuna went 2-for-2 with two walks and a three-run home run in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger launched what proved to be the game-winning hit in the first inning when he took Luis Severino deep to straightaway center field. Ozuna's hit safely in 13 straight games, batting .333 (16-for-48) over that stretch, and the hot streak has pushed his slash line on the season up to .245/.320/.478 with 24 homers and 60 RBI in 103 contests.
Aug 4 2023Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 8-0 win over the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He went back-to-back with Sean Murphy in the fourth inning, crushing a Kyle Hendricks sinker out of Wrigley Field entirely. Ozuna has an OPS north of .850 since the start of May, though he gets lost in the shuffle a bit with all the great bats in the Atlanta lineup. His 23 home runs rank fifth on the club.
Jul 31 2023Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He took Hoby Milner deep in the sixth inning to tie things up at 6-6, setting the stage for a game-winning Matt Olson homer in the eighth. Ozuna will be sorry to see Milwaukee leave town -- he had two doubles and four long balls during the three-game series to bust out of a July slump. On the season, the 32-year-old is slashing .236/.309/.479 with 22 home runs and 49 RBI in 87 contests.
Jul 29 2023Ozuna went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, three total runs and four total RBI in Saturday's 11-5 win against the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna racked up 10 total bases in the contest, doubling home a run in the first inning, swatting a solo homer in the fifth and adding a two-run shot in the seventh. The veteran had been in a prolonged slump prior to the series against the Brewers, going 4-for-49 with just one long ball over his previous 14 games. However, he's broken out in the first two contests versus Milwaukee this weekend, going 5-for-8 with three homers, two doubles and five RBI.
Jul 4 2023Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's win over the Guardians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger drove a first-pitch fastball from Gavin Williams over the right-center field wall in the fourth inning. The solo shot extended Ozuna's hitting streak to 13 games, a stretch in which he's slashing .288/.351/.558 with four homers and 10 RBI. After stumbling out of the gate with a .397 OPS in April and looking like his roster spot could be in jeopardy, Ozuna has completely turned things around and delivered a .966 OPS since the beginning of May.
Jun 27 2023Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's win over the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With the score tied 1-1 in the seventh inning, the veteran slugger started a three-run rally by hammering a Sonny Gray fastball into the seats in right-center field. Ozuna has gone yard three times in the last five contests while extending his hitting streak to seven games, as he puts the finishing touches on a big June that has seen him slash .314/.402/.571 with five of his 16 homers and 15 of his 37 RBI on the season.
Jun 24 2023Ozuna went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI against the Reds in a 7-6 victory Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna singled home a run in the third inning and added a solo shot to right field in the seventh. The long ball was the second in three days for the veteran and his 15th overall this season. Ozuna is on pace to reach the 30-homer mark for the second time in his career, with the other being in 2017 with Miami.
Jun 23 2023Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run in Thursday's extra-inning win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The game was scoreless through nine innings, but Ozuna capped a five-run eruption for Atlanta in the 10th by crushing a backup slider from Yunior Marte deep to left field. The veteran slugger is up to 14 homers on the season, including three in June to help fuel his .321/.413/.547 slash line on the month.
Jun 14 2023Ozuna (wrist) will serve as Atlanta's designated hitter and No. 5 batter in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: For the second game in a row, Ozuna went unused off the bench in Atlanta's 10-7 win in the opening contest of the twin bill, but he's shown enough improvement with his bruised right wrist to re-enter the lineup for the nightcap. Ozuna will hope the minor injury won't derail what's been a strong start to June. He's recorded at least one hit in all nine of the games he's played in this month and is slashing .414/.485/.724 with five extra-base knocks overall.
Jun 13 2023Ozuna (wrist) is absent from the lineup Tuesday versus the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna took a pitch off his right wrist in Monday's series opener against Detroit, but X-rays showed no fractures and he is considered day-to-day. Eddie Rosario will grab a turn at designated hitter Tuesday with Kevin Pillar patrolling left field.
Jun 12 2023Ozuna was removed from Monday's game as a precaution due to a right wrist contusion. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The details of Ozuna's injury are now known and it appears he has avoided a serious injury. It's possible Atlanta keeps Ozuna out of the lineup Tuesday in order for him to heal, but he figures to be back within a few days.
Jun 10 2023Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 6-4 victory versus the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna and Ronald Acuna each hit a two-run homer in the second inning to give Atlanta an early boost. The long ball was Ozuna's second in three games following a nine-game stretch without going deep. The veteran slugger has survived a miserable start to the season to emerge as a viable fantasy asset with 13 homers and 29 RBI over 49 games. His batting average is up to .236, which is far from spectacular but tolerable compared to the .073 mark he held 17 games into the campaign.
Jun 9 2023Ozuna went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Thursday's 13-10 extra-inning win over the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Atlanta hitters slugged five homers on the night, with Ozuna's coming in the fifth inning off Stephen Nogosek. The veteran DH continues to produce after turning his season around, and since the beginning of May, Ozuna is slashing .315/.378/.639 with 10 of his 12 homers on the year.
Jun 5 2023Manager Brian Snitker confirmed after Sunday's 8-5 victory over the Diamondbacks that Ozuna was removed in the sixth inning of the contest due to a lack of hustle, John Marshall of the Associated Press reports. "I guarantee he feels worse than I do for having to take him out," Snitker said. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After reaching base on a walk in the top of the second inning, Ozuna returned to the plate in the fourth inning and belted a Zac Gallen pitch to deep center for what appeared to be a potential home run. However, the ball instead hit an overhang on the outfield wall just below the line for a home run, and Ozuna had to settle for a 415-foot single after he didn't run at full speed out of the batter's box. Based on Snitkner's comments, Ozuna seems to have been contrite about the lack of hustle, so the 32-year-old likely won't be in line for a prolonged benching.
Jun 2 2023Ozuna is not in the lineup Friday against the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Travis d'Arnaud will operate as Atlanta's designated hitter and bat fifth with right-hander Merrill Kelly on the mound for Arizona. Ozuna has gone 1-for-20 with six strikeouts over his last five games. He holds an overall .726 OPS this year versus righties and an .805 OPS versus lefties.
May 27 2023Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He got hold of a Matt Strahm fastball in the eighth inning, giving Atlanta its last gasp of offense on the night. Ozuna has gone yard in three straight games and now has nine homers in 19 May contests, slashing .366/.438/.789 over that stretch with 20 RBI -- an incredible turnaround considering his .085/.194/.203 line at the end of April.
May 24 2023Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in a 4-3 win against the Dodgers on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With the score tied 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Ozuna launched a monstrous 452-foot, two-run shot to center field. It was his ninth long ball of the season, seven of which have come since May 3. After hitting a miserable .085 though the end of April, Ozuna has turned things around with a huge month of May during which he is batting .328 (21-for-64) with seven homers, 18 RBI and 12 runs scored through 17 contests.
May 19 2023Ozuna went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Friday's victory against the Mariners. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna tied the game with an RBI single in the seventh inning before adding two insurance runs with another single in the eighth. He's now riding a six-game hitting streak, going 8-for-24 (.333) with eight RBI during that stretch. Still, the veteran outfielder is sporting an ugly .189/.289/.434 slash line through 30 games.
May 16 2023Ozuna is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Eddie Rosario will serve as Atlanta's designated hitter and bat fifth with right-hander Dane Dunning on the mound for Texas. Ozuna had drawn three straight starts at DH prior to this night of rest.
May 14 2023Ozuna went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He supplied all of Atlanta's offense with a second-inning shot off Jose Berrios. Ozuna has flipped the switch in May, batting .333 (10-for-30) through eight games with five of his seven homers on the year and 10 of his 12 RBI.
May 12 2023Ozuna is on the bench again for Atlanta's game in Toronto on Friday, Grant McAuley of 929 The Game reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna started the first game after Travis d'Arnaud returned but has now been benched each of the last two contests. The 32-year-old Ozuna had started seven in a row and has been on a power binge of late, but it's clear d'Arnaud's return is going to eat into his playing time.
May 10 2023Ozuna is absent from Atlanta's lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Atlanta is going with Sean Murphy in the designated hitter spot and Travis d'Arnaud at catcher. Ozuna had started each of the last seven contests.
May 6 2023Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 5-4 victory against Baltimore on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna opened the scoring in the contest with a solo shot to right field in the third inning. The veteran has been on a heater of late, going 5-for-16 with four long balls and seven RBI over his past four games. Ozuna is still trying to dig out of a rough start that has his season slash line at .152/.256/.392, but he has as many homers this season (six) as both Ronald Acuna and Austin Riley.
May 4 2023Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Thursday's 6-3 win over Miami. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna's fourth-inning solo shot put Atlanta up 4-2, which was all the offense the team needed to win. His last five games played have all come against Miami, and he's torched his former team by going 7-for-21 (.333) with three homers, six RBI, seven runs scored and a 3:5 BB:K over that span. That solid stretch has raised his slash line to .153/.256/.375 over 82 plate appearances, so he still has some work to do to get his numbers in the respectable range. He also has five homers, eight RBI and 10 runs scored this season.
Apr 6 2023Ozuna is out of the lineup Thursday against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The hot-hitting Travis d'Arnaud will DH and bat cleanup, with Kevin Pillar covering left field and hitting eighth. Ozuna is just 1-for-17 (.059) with six strikeouts out of the gate this season.
Apr 4 2023Ozuna is absent from Atlanta's starting lineup Tuesday against the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Kevin Pillar is in left field and batting ninth versus the Cardinals and left-hander Steven Matz, with Travis d'Arnaud handling DH duties and hitting cleanup. Ozuna slugged a solo homer Saturday against the Nationals, but it's his only hit through 16 plate appearances this season.
Apr 1 2023Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: His fourth-inning blast was one of three on the day as Atlanta hitters bashed off Josiah Gray. Ozuna has struggled to hit for average the last couple seasons, but the 32-year-old still hit 23 homers in 124 games in 2022 and figures to be a solid power source once again this year, even if the rest of his profile doesn't rebound.
Mar 30 2023Ozuna is batting sixth and getting the start in left field Opening Day against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With southpaw Patrick Corbin on the bump for the Nats, Ozuna will move out of the designated hitter role and into the field. The 32-year-old worked on his shoulder strength in the offseason to try and avoid being a defensive liability again, but if he can't hold up with the glove, Kevin Pillar could become the preferred platoon partner in left for Eddie Rosario. Ozuna has has some things to prove at the plate after stumbling to a .222/.278/.397 slash line over the last two seasons.
Mar 20 2023Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He took Kenta Maeda deep in the third inning, giving Ozuna his first homer of the spring. The 32-year-old slugger is gaining momentum at the plate as Opening Day approaches, and he's now batting .270 (10-for-37) this spring, with half of his hits going for extra bases.
Mar 15 2023Ozuna went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, two runs scored and four RBI in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger banged out his fourth two-bagger of the spring against Cristopher Sanchez as part of a four-run first inning. Ozuna is now hitting .321 (9-for-28) in camp, and while he's still looking for his first homer, he at least appears ready for Opening Day. The 32-year-old is looking to rebound from a rough 2022 campaign that saw him slash just .226/.274/.413, and he could offer some late-round power production this season.
Mar 7 2023Ozuna has gotten more plate appearances than any Atlanta player who isn't either participating in the WBC or competing for a job through the early part of the Grapefruit League schedule, and he's been used exclusively at designated hitter, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 32-year-old worked to improve his shoulder strength in the offseason in an effort to not be such a liability in the field, but Atlanta would be content simply to get some value out of his bat at this point. Ozuna has two years and $32 million remaining on his contract with a $16 million club option for 2025, but over the last two seasons he's played only 172 games due to injuries and off-field issues, posting decent power numbers with 30 homers and 82 RBI but slashing a weak .222/.278/.397.
Oct 15 2022Ozuna will sit for Game 4 of the NLDS against the Phillies on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna sat for Game 1 but returned for Games 2 and 3. He's yet to make an impact this series, going 0-for-8 with four strikeouts. William Contreras will get his chance as the designated hitter in Game 4.
Oct 11 2022Ozuna will sit for Game 1 of the NLDS against the Phillies on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna had a disappointing season overall, hitting .226/.274/.413 in 124 games. He earned a spot on Atlanta's playoff roster nonetheless, but he won't get the start against lefty Ranger Suarez in Game 1. It's possible he starts Game 2 or 3 against righties Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola, but it will be William Contreras who serves as the designated hitter Tuesday.
Oct 5 2022Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run and a double in a loss to the Marlins on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna got the start at DH and gave Atlanta its first (albeit brief) lead with a three-run homer to left field in the sixth inning. The veteran struggled to a .226/.274/.413 slash line over 124 games this season but did contribute power with 23 homers and 56 RBI. Ozuna finished the season hitting well, batting .321 (17-for-53) since the start of September, which may have improved his chance of making the postseason roster, per David O'Brien of The Athletic.
Oct 4 2022Ozuna is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Marlins, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna has played sporadically over the past couple weeks, but he heads to the bench for a second day in a row Tuesday. Robbie Grossman will start in left field while William Contreras draws the start at designated hitter.
Oct 3 2022Ozuna is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna will take a seat after going 1-for-6 with a double and two strikeouts after serving as Atlanta's designated hitter over the final two games of its weekend series with the Mets. He'll likely continue to be part of a three-way timeshare at DH with Willson Conteras and Travis d'Arnaud.
Sep 28 2022Ozuna is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Washington, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna went 2-for-7 with a home run, a double, a walk and two RBI while starting against right-handed pitchers the past two days, but he'll cede designated hitter duties to Robbie Grossman in the series finale. Atlanta will likely take a committee approach to the DH spot over the final week of the regular season, making it difficult to depend on Ozuna seeing consistent at-bats.
Sep 17 2022Ozuna isn't starting Saturday against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna has lost out on regular playing time recently and will be on the bench for the fifth time in the last seven games. William Contreras will serve as the designated hitter and bat seventh once again.
Sep 16 2022Ozuna isn't in the lineup Friday against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna started Wednesday against the Giants and went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts. However, he'll be out of the lineup for the fourth time in the last six games while William Contreras serves as the designated hitter and bats sixth.
Sep 13 2022Ozuna isn't in the lineup Tuesday against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna will sit for the second straight game Tuesday in favor of Eddie Rosario, who will bat seventh. Rosario is 4-for-4 over the last two games, so it seems Atlanta is simply opting for the hotter bat.
Sep 12 2022Ozuna is not listed in the lineup for Monday's game against San Francisco. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna has a .940 OPS during September, but he will sit for the second time in three days Monday. In his place, Eddie Rosario will start the game in left field and bat eighth.
Sep 10 2022Ozuna will sit Saturday against Seattle. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna didn't make an appearance from Aug. 22 through Sep. 1, but he's since started six straight games in left field, posting a 1.008 OPS over that stretch. Eddie Rosario will fill that position Saturday.
Sep 7 2022Ozuna went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Tuesday's 10-9 win over the Athletics. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna has now produced hits while starting each of Atlanta's last four games, going a collective 6-for-13 with a double and a home run. He'll be in the lineup in left field and as Atlanta's No. 8 hitter for the series finale Wednesday. At this point, Ozuna appears to be ahead of both Robbie Grossman and Eddie Rosario for an everyday spot in the corner outfield.
Sep 4 2022Ozuna will start in left field and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Just three weeks ago, Ozuna looked to have lost hold of an everyday role, and it didn't help matters that he was arrested Aug. 19 on a DUI charge. Following the arrest, Ozuna appeared in just one of Atlanta's subsequent 12 games, only to surprisingly resurface in the lineup this weekend. After going 3-for-7 with a double in the first two games of the series, Ozuna will draw a third straight start in left field Sunday. At least for the time being, Ozuna seems to have taken back the everyday role at the position from Robbie Grossman, who is on the bench for the second straight contest.
Aug 21 2022Ozuna is starting in left field and hitting eighth in Sunday's game against the Astros, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna had been out of the lineup for six consecutive games in favor of Robbie Grossman and Eddie Rosario. Ozuna was also arrested for driving under the influence Friday. However, Rosario will take a seat Sunday, giving Ozuna a starting opportunity.
Aug 19 2022Ozuna was arrested for driving under the influence Friday morning, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail on Friday for DUI and Failure to Maintain Lane, and he was released on bond a few hours later. It's his second arrest in as many years, as he was charged with felony assault last year and was ultimately suspended by Major League Baseball. His status for Atlanta's weekend series against the Astros isn't yet clear.
Aug 17 2022Ozuna remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna finds himself on the bench for the third game in a row, all of which have come against right-handed pitching. With Atlanta making more room of late at designated hitter for William Contreras and Eddie Rosario and in left field for Rosario and Robbie Grossman, the righty-hitting Ozuna looks like he might have to settle for a short-side platoon role, at best. Ozuna's declining playing time comes while he's slashed an ugly .184/.192/.329 with a 32.1 percent strikeout rate in 19 games since the All-Star break.
Aug 16 2022Ozuna is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna did not start Monday, and he will remain in a reserve role for at least another day. William Contreras -- like he did Monday -- will serve as Atlanta's designated hitter.
Aug 15 2022Ozuna is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna recorded two hits in Sunday's game, but he's also gone 5-for-40 (.125) and struck out 13 times over his last 10 games, so manager Brian Snitker decided it was time for a mental break. William Contreras will serve as Atlanta's designated hitter Monday night.
Aug 6 2022Ozuna will sit for the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna has struggled to a .152/.176/.273 line across his last eight games, dropping his OPS on the season down to .670. Travis d'Arnaud will serve as the designated hitter for the afternoon game, but Ozuna should return for the nightcap.
Aug 2 2022Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double, three runs scored and two RBI in a 13-1 pounding of Philadelphia on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna doubled and scored in the fourth, singled and scored in the fifth and hit a solo shot in the seventh. After a difficult July in which he produced a .195/.247/.368 line, the veteran got off to a great start to August on Tuesday. It marked the fourth time this season that he had three hits in a game and just the second time since April 12. He's now hit seventh in Atlanta's order seven times in his last 12 starts.
Jul 31 2022Ozuna is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna started the first eight games out of the All-Star break and will receive Sunday off after posting a .509 OPS and 34.4 percent strikeout rate during that stretch. William Contreras will take over as Atlanta's designated hitter Sunday.
Jul 26 2022Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was Ozuna's first multi-hit performance since July 3, and he slashed a sluggish .179/.246/.339 in 15 games between those efforts. The 31-year-old hasn't been able to put together any extended hot streaks yet this season, but unless Atlanta makes a major addition at the trade deadline, Ozuna's playing time seems secure with Adam Duvall (wrist) done for the year.
Jul 23 2022Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 8-1 win over the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger capped the scoring on the night for Atlanta, taking Elvis Peguero deep in the eighth inning. Ozuna continues to have trouble building any momentum at the plate, slashing .200/.262/.450 through 16 games in July with four of his 18 homers on the year.
Jul 17 2022Ozuna is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna will hit the bench for the second time in less than a week while he heads into the All-Star break amid a slump at the plate. Over his last eight games, Ozuna went 4-for-29, dropping his season average to .221. Atlanta will give Ronald Acuna a day out of the outfield and deploy him as the designated hitter Sunday in place of Ozuna.
Jul 13 2022Ozuna is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With the top two teams in the National League East closing their series with a day game after a night game, Atlanta manager Brian Snitker decided it was an ideal time to give Ozuna some time off. Adam Duvall will start in left field and Eddie Rosario will serve as Atlanta's designated hitter while Ozuna heads to the bench for the first time since June 19.
Jul 7 2022Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna hit a solo shot in the fifth inning to put Atlanta on the board. The designated hitter is having arguably his best month of the year, slashing .261/.261/.696 after picking up at least one hit in five of six games. He has just three strikeouts during that span and has taken his batting average from .223 to .229. The homer in Wednesday's game was his third of the month after he hit four in all of June. Ozuna is up to 17 home runs on the season.
Jul 3 2022Ozuna went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in a 4-3 loss to the Reds on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna went deep twice to give him 16 home runs and 34 RBI on the season. The 31-year-old right-handed power bat is on pace for his best home run total since 2017, when he went yard 37 times while playing for the Marlins. However, Ozuna's .227 average and .280 OBP are considerably down from his career numbers. His .244 BABIP and .276 xBA suggest that he could have been the victim of some bad hitter's luck thus far and is perhaps due for his numbers to normalize over the rest of the season.
Jun 26 2022Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 5-3 victory versus the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After the Dodgers tied the score 3-3 in the top of the eighth inning, Ozuna responded with a two-run shot off Brusdar Graterol in the bottom of the frame to provide the winning margin. The long ball was Ozuna's 14th of the campaign, tied for 12th-most in the National League. The veteran's .227/.280/.416 season slash line is somewhat disappointing, however.
Jun 22 2022Ozuna went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in a 12-10 loss to the Giants on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: There has always been plenty of pop in Ozuna's bat, and his home run off Anthony DeSclafani now gives him 13 home runs on the year. Despite being a career .270 hitter, the 31-year-old slugger is slashing only .227/.275/.414 in 2022. Baseball Savant ranks him in the 90th percentile of xSLG, so it is possible that his slash line normalizes upward toward his career standard.
Jun 19 2022Ozuna is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 31-year-old's move to the bench allows both of Atlanta's two backstops -- Travis d'Arnaud and William Contreras -- to stick in the lineup, as Contreras will handle designated-hitter duties in Ozuna's stead. Ozuna went 0-for-7 with a walk and three strikeouts in the first two games of the series in Chicago.
Jun 13 2022Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 9-5 win over the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna took Nationals starter Erasmo Ramirez deep in the third inning. The long ball was Ozuna's first since his two-homer game May 29 versus the Marlins, and he's added just three doubles in that rather power-dry stretch. The slugger is up to a .227/.269/.403 slash line with 11 homers, 25 RBI, 28 runs scored, two stolen bases and eight doubles through 59 contests. He should continue to see a regular role as the designated hitter, but he lost his spot as the No. 3 hitter early in June and has batted sixth or seventh in his last seven starts, Ozuna's also seen himself occasionally on the bench against right-handed pitchers lately.
Jun 10 2022Ozuna is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger started the past three games and will receive a day off after going 1-for-10 with a walk and two runs during that stretch. William Contreras will bat seventh as the designated hitter in Ozuna's place.
Jun 5 2022Ozuna is not in Sunday's lineup against the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna is hitting .290 with two home runs over his current seven-game hit streak. William Contreras will start at designated hitter.
May 29 2022Ozuna went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Sunday's 6-3 win over Miami. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna took Elieser Hernandez deep in both the first and third innings. The 31-year-old is slashing .228/.269/.418 with 10 homers through 197 plate appearances on the year. He was in a 6-for-28 (.214) slump with no extra-base hits over his previous eight games.
May 27 2022Ozuna (abdomen) will return to the lineup as expected for Friday's game against the Marlins, batting third and playing left field. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna was scratched from Thursday's series finale against the Phillies due to lower abdominal tightness, but reports indicated it would only be a one-game absence. That will indeed be the case, which is great news for Atlanta, as Ozuna is riding a 12-game hitting streak.
May 26 2022Ozuna (abdomen) will return to the lineup Friday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna was scratched from Thursday's game but the issue won't keep him sidelined for long. He's swung the bat well of late, collecting at least one hit in each of his last 12 games while smacking four home runs and collecting eight RBI and six runs scored.
May 21 2022Ozuna went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-3 win over the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He staked Atlanta to a 3-0 lead by taking Trevor Rogers deep in the first inning. Ozuna has gone yard in three straight games and four of the last six as part of a seven-game hitting streak, but the surge has only boosted his slash line on the year to .224/.268/.414 as he pulls himself out of a deep early season hole.
May 18 2022Ozuna went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-6 extra-innings loss to the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger went back-to-back with Austin Riley off Corbin Burnes in the third inning, staking Atlanta to an early 4-0 lead that the bullpen couldn't protect. Ozuna has gone yard three times in the last five games as part of a six-game hitting streak, and he's up to seven homers and 17 RBI through 38 games on the season.
May 16 2022Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 31-year-old slugger hadn't swiped a base since August 2019 coming into the season, but Ozuna suddenly has two steals in the last five games. It's otherwise been a brutal May for him, as he's gone 6-for-50 (.120) through 13 contests with one homer, four RBI and five runs.
May 14 2022Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Saturday's win over the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna struck out in his first three trips to the plate, but his two-run shot off Steven Wilson in the bottom of the eighth was a crucial one, as it tied the game at five. He now as five homers on the season but is still hitting a disappointing .205/.246/.356 overall.
Apr 17 2022Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 2-1 loss to the Padres on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna took Yu Darvish 408-feet deep in the seventh inning for Atlanta's lone run. After missing the majority of last season, Ozuna has opened 2022 forcefully with four home runs and a .985 OPS through 11 games.
Apr 16 2022Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He clubbed his third homer of the year in the fifth inning off Nick Martinez. Ozuna is having a strong start to the season, slashing .325/.333/.625 through 10 games with five runs scored and seven RBI.
Apr 13 2022Ozuna went 3-for-6 with a double, two solo home runs and a third run scored in Tuesday's 16-4 win over the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger led an Atlanta attack that piled up 19 hits and eight extra-base hits on the night. Ozuna is red hot to begin the season, and while Tuesday's blasts were his first two homers of 2022, he's slashing .375/.385/.750 through six games with five RBI.
Apr 10 2022Ozuna went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Reds. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger brought home the first run of the game on a two-bagger in the first inning. Ozuna got the start in left field Saturday and hit cleanup, but he should spend most of his time this season at DH. The 31-year-old is off to a quick start to 2022, going 4-for-11 through three games, but he's still looking for his first home run.
Mar 27 2022Ozuna went 1-for-2 with a walk, a three-run home run and a second run scored in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Chi Chi Gonzalez left a pitch over the heart of the plate in the third inning and Ozuna sliced it down the right-field line, watching it carry over the fence for his first homer this spring. The veteran slugger played only 48 games last season before spending the rest of the year on administrative leave due to domestic violence charges, but the league made his eventual suspension retroactive and he will be available for Opening Day, likely as Atlanta's designated hitter. Ozuna's .644 OPS in those 48 games might be the more immediate concern for prospective fantasy investors, but if the 31-year-old can find a middle ground between his 2020 and 2021 performances, he'll have plenty of value.
Nov 29 2021Ozuna (finger) was handed a retroactive 20-game suspension Monday for a violation of the league's Join Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy which has already been completed, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna landed on the injured list with broken fingers in late May and was arrested for aggravated assault and family violence soon after. He didn't return for the rest of the season while the case played out in court but was placed on administrative leave in mid-September after agreeing to enter a diversion program which could see his charges dropped. The league evidently felt that the time he already missed constituted a sufficient punishment, as his time on administrative league counted for the purposes of the suspension, though the exact role he'll play in Atlanta next season is not yet clear.
Sep 28 2021Ozuna (finger) had his administrative leave extended through the end of the postseason Tuesday, Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna landed on the injured list with broken fingers in late May and was arrested on aggravated assault and family violence charges shortly thereafter. He entered a diversion program in early September which could see those charges dropped, but the league can come to its own conclusion regarding any potential suspension regardless of the court's decision. MLB's investigation is ongoing, so he hasn't been officially suspended yet, but he now won't play until sometime next season at the earliest.
Sep 10 2021Ozuna (finger) was placed on administrative leave under the league's domestic violence policy Friday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The transaction stems from Ozuna's late-May arrest for aggravated assault and family violence. He hasn't played since that incident but wasn't actually on leave, as he was instead on the injured list after fracturing a pair of fingers just days before his arrest. The status of those injuries isn't clear, but he's unlikely to play any time soon due to the administrative leave. He's technically only on leave for seven days, but players in similar situations have nearly always seen that leave extended several times while the league continues its investigation. Ozuna agreed to enter a diversion program Thursday which could see his charges dropped within six months, but MLB can still come to its own conclusions regarding any potential suspension regardless of the court's decision.
Aug 3 2021The Fulton County (Ga.) District Attorney's office dropped a felony charge of aggravated assault strangulation against Ozuna (fingers), but the outfielder will be prosecuted on misdemeanor charges of family battery violence and simple assault in connection with his May 29 arrest, Alexis Stevens and Gabriel Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The two misdemeanor charges both carry up to a year of jail time. Major League Baseball continues to hold its own investigation into the incident and has the ability to discipline Ozuna regardless of how the legal process plays out, per the terms of the MLB-MLBPA Joint Domestic Violence Policy. Prior to his arrest, Ozuna was placed on the 10-day injured list May 26 after he was diagnosed with two broken fingers on his left hand. He should be at or near full health nearly two months later, but expect Ozuna to remain inactive for Atlanta until the legal matter is resolved.
May 29 2021Ozuna (fingers) was arrested on charges of aggravated assault strangulation and misdemeanor battery/family violence Saturday in Georgia, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The league office is expected to open an investigation following the arrest, which could result in a suspension under MLB's domestic violence policy. Ozuna is already sidelined for at least the next six weeks after fracturing the ring and middle fingers on his left hand Tuesday.
May 28 2021Ozuna (finger) was officially placed on the 10-day injured list Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna fractured two fingers on his left hand while running the bases Tuesday against the Red Sox. While he won't require surgery, he's expected to miss at least six weeks, meaning he won't be back on the field until shortly before the All-Star break at the earliest. Guillermo Heredia should see time in left field in his absence, with at-bats opening up for Ender Inciarte in center.
May 26 2021Ozuna was diagnosed with fractures in his ring and middle fingers on his left hand Wednesday but won't require surgery, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna underwent X-rays that revealed dislocated fingers Tuesday, but his CT scans and other tests Wednesday revealed a more serious issue. Even though he won't need to undergo surgery, Ozuna is expected to miss at least six weeks.
May 25 2021Ozuna dislocated the ring and middle fingers on his left hand Tuesday and will return to Atlanta to visit a specialist, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 30-year-old suffered the injury during a slide into third base when he had his fingers bent back awkwardly. The team has yet to decide whether a trip to the injured list is necessary, though Ozuna can be ruled out for Wednesday's series finale given he's returning to Atlanta to be evaluated.
May 21 2021Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a walk, two doubles, a home run, two RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 20-1 rout of the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: His sixth-inning solo shot off Kyle Keller was one of seven homers by Atlanta on the night. Ozuna has had a sluggish start to the season but has picked up the pace somewhat recently, hitting .244 (11-for-45) over the last 11 games with three home runs and five RBI.
May 14 2021Ozuna went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, two runs scored and two walks in Friday's 6-3 win over Milwaukee. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna and Ozzie Albies launched back-to-back solo homers in the fifth inning, extending Atlanta's lead to 4-1. It was Ozuna's sixth home run of the season. He improved his slash line to .216/.297/.358 on the year.
May 12 2021Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna had a rough outing at the plate Tuesday night with three strikeouts but his bat did come alive in the sixth when he momentarily gave the Braves the lead with a solo home run to left. The 30-year-old has still not really figured out his swing so far, as he's slashing .203/.276/.333 with five home runs, 21 RBI and 13 runs scored to go along with a 13:36 BB:K. He has been making better contact lately but it's still been a majorly disappointing start to the year after an incredible offensive showing during the abbreviated 2020 campaign.
May 5 2021Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: His third-inning blast off Erick Fedde proved to be the difference in the game. Three of Ozuna's four homers on the year, and nine of his 19 RBI, have come in the last seven games as the veteran slugger climbs out of an early-season hole.
Apr 29 2021Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Thursday's loss to the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna left the yard with a 414-foot solo homer against Adbert Alzolay in the sixth inning. It was the second long ball in as many games for the 30-year-old, who is off to a slow start at the plate this season, though he's now hit safely across four games. On the year, he's batting .189/.287/.295 with 13 RBI and three home runs.
Apr 19 2021Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a pair of walks, two runs and an RBI in Sunday's 13-4 win over the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Though he didn't slug one of Atlanta's five home runs on the night, Ozuna got on base enough to benefit from the team's offensive onslaught. After a sluggish start to the season, Ozuna looked dialed in at the plate throughout the three-game series in Chicago, producing a 1.100 OPS and a 3:3 BB:K.
Apr 17 2021Ozuna went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a walk in Saturday's loss against the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna was unable to replicate his three-hit performance from Friday, but he seems to be leaving his slow start to the season behind after hitting in four of his last six outings. He's still hitting just .211 with a .560 OPS, but the veteran outfielder seems to be trending in the right direction after beginning the season going 4-for-32 over his first nine games.
Apr 14 2021Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, a walk, three RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 14-8 loss to the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna finally got his bat going with his first multi-hit performance of the season, and he showcased his power after clubbing a low changeup to open up the scoring with a two-run homer in the first. Prior to Tuesday, the 30-year-old had struggled mightily with a 5-for-36 start and a 5:15 BB:K through his first 10 games. Perhaps his most recent performance is a sign of better things to come, as fantasy managers drafted him for his elite power and run-producing abilities.
Mar 26 2021Ozuna went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger took Chaz Roe deep in the sixth inning for his second homer of the spring. Ozuna has only gone 7-for-31 (.226) in Grapefruit League play, but five of those seven hits have gone for extra bases, and his 7:10 BB:K suggests he's been seeing the ball well. After posting a career-high 1.067 OPS last year in his first season with Atlanta, Ozuna is expected to hit cleanup behind the table-setting trio of Ronald Acuna, Ozzie Albies and Freddie Freeman, a spot that should have him among the league leaders in RBI opportunities.
Mar 19 2021Ozuna has gone 4-for-19 (.211) through 10 Grapefruit League games with a double, a home run and a 4:9 BB:K. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The strikeouts aren't ideal, but so far this spring Ozuna has been focused on getting in his reps and getting his timing down at the plate. The 30-year-old will hit in the heart of a potent Atlanta offense this season, and while he almost certainly won't match the 1.067 OPS he racked up in 2020, Ozuna could take a run at his second career 30-HR, 100-RBI campaign.
Feb 5 2021Ozuna signed a four-year, $65 million contract with Atlanta on Friday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna appeared in all 60 games for Atlanta during the abbreviated 2020 season, and he'll return to the team on a multi-year deal in 2021. The 30-year-old slashed .338/.431/.636 with 18 home runs and 56 RBI last year but played 39 games as a designated hitter. However, he could serve as the primary left fielder for Atlanta in 2021 if the designated hitter isn't approved in the National League. Ozuna's contract contains a fifth-year option that would increase the deal to $80 million.
Oct 16 2020Ozuna went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, three runs and four RBI during Thursday's Game 4 win over the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 29-year-old hit a solo homer during the fourth inning and his RBI double during the sixth gave the Braves a 3-1 lead while chasing starter Clayton Kershaw. Ozuna is 11-for-40 with three homers, three doubles, 10 RBI and 14 strikeouts through nine playoff games as the Braves are one win away from advancing to the World Series.
Oct 2 2020Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Reds on Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna struck out two more times after going hitless with three strikeouts in Game 1, but the homer means he's now driven in a third of Atlanta's runs this postseason. His career playoff slash line sits at .283/.313/.362 through 11 games, nine of which came last season with the Cardinals.
Sep 27 2020Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the Braves' 9-1 loss to the Red Sox on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He's probably not going to be an NL MVP finalist alongside his teammate, Freddie Freeman, but Ozuna was one of the top offensive contributors in all of baseball during the shortened 2020 regular season. Ozuna finishes with a .338/.431/.636 batting line, 18 home runs, 56 RBI and 38 runs scored in 267 plate appearances.
Sep 25 2020Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a two-RBI single and a pair of walks in Friday's 8-7 extra-innings win over the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna's biggest contribution was his go-ahead two-run single in the eighth inning, but that was just the beginning of a back-and-forth sequence. Atlanta got the win in the end as Freddie Freeman hit a walkoff two-run homer. Ozuna is up to 17 homers, 55 RBI, 37 runs scored and a .335/.429/.629 slash line through 58 games this season.
Sep 23 2020Ozuna went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double and five RBI in Tuesday's 11-1 win over the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna smacked two of the Braves' five long balls on the night, giving Bryse Wilson (five shutout innings) plenty of run support in the right-hander's first start of 2020. Since opening September with a three-homer game, Ozuna hasn't slowed down much at the dish. He's slashing .379/.455/.759 with nine home runs, 30 RBI and 15 runs in 21 games on the month.
Sep 19 2020Ozuna went 2-for-4 with with a home run, three RBI, two runs scored and a walk Friday as the Braves beat the Mets 15-2. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna quickly got the scoring started for the Braves with a bloop RBI single to right in the first to put the Braves up 1-0. He topped that the following inning by crushing a changeup to the second deck in left field to extend the Braves' lead to 5-0. Ozuna, like the majority of the Braves' hitters, has had an outstanding month of September in which he has hit .380/.457.732 with seven home runs, 34 RBI and 12 runs scored in 17 games.
Sep 11 2020Ozuna went 5-for-6 with a home run, one double, four RBI and one walk in Friday's loss to the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna played a key role in Atlanta's comeback bid Friday, but the team came up just short in the 12-inning contest. Following his performance against Washington, he carries a 1.041 OPS with 14 home runs and 41 RBI.
Sep 6 2020Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and four RBI in Sunday's win against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The middle of the order took care of business Sunday as Ozuna and Freddie Freeman combined for eight RBI in the Braves' 10-run performance. Ozuna now has a 1.062 OPS with 13 home runs and 36 RBI in 2020.
Sep 2 2020Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and a run scored Wednesday against the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: One game after blasting three home runs, Ozuna stayed hot at the plate by slugging a solo home run Wednesday. He now has 12 long balls on the season. Besides his power production, Ozuna has collected at least one hit in 14 of his last 15 games, during which he's slugged eight home runs while also collecting 20 RBI and scoring 12 runs. Overall, he's maintained a .301/.390/.624 line across 154 plate appearances.
Aug 30 2020Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI singles and a run scored in Sunday's 12-10 win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna had RBI singles in the second and fifth innings. He also scored a run on a Nick Markakis double in the second. The 29-year-old Ozuna has eight homers, 23 RBI and 18 runs scored through 33 games this year.
Aug 22 2020Ozuna went 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in Friday's win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Atlanta scored all 11 of its runs over two innings, the third and the fifth, and Ozuna went yard in both. The 29-year-old is hitting .313 with four homers and nine RBI over the last eight games, boosting his slash line on the year to .280/.382/.559.
Aug 15 2020Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He opened the scoring with a blast off tiring rookie Daniel Castano in the seventh inning. Ozuna is now up to five homers and 12 RBI through 22 games, supplying the power Atlanta was looking for when it signed him to a one-year deal back in January.
Aug 11 2020Ozuna went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and a double during Tuesday's 9-6 loss to the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna put the Braves on the board with his 436-foot shot to left in the sixth inning, and he also hit a two-bagger earlier in the contest. The 29-year-old has a .273/.372/.530 slash line with four homers, five doubles and 11 RBI through 19 games.
Aug 1 2020Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He took his former Cards teammate Michael Wacha deep in the first inning, setting the tone for a big Atlanta victory. Ozuna has hit safely in eight of nine games to begin the year, batting .367 (11-for-30) with three homers and six RBI.
Jul 31 2020Ozuna went 1-for-1 with three walks and a run scored in Thursday's win over the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: One of the free passes was intentional, but this was still an impressive display of patience from the 29-year-old. Ozuna did post a career-high 11.3 percent walk rate in 2019, and if he continues to improve in that area he could emerge as a genuine OBP asset in leagues utilizing that category.
Jul 26 2020Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an RBI double, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's 14-1 win over the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna restored a two-run lead in the third inning with his double to plate Ozzie Albies, sparking a five-run surge. Ozuna then added a solo shot in the sixth. He's already homered twice through three games this season. The 29-year-old should continue to slug in the middle of the Braves' dangerous offense.
Jul 25 2020Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a game-tying solo home run in Saturday's 5-3 extra-inning win over the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Mets closer Edwin Diaz was within one out of protecting a 2-1 lead when Ozuna knocked the game-tying homer into the right-field seats. The 29-year-old Ozuna will likely be a fixture in the heart of the Braves' order due to his powerful bat, but it remains to be seen if he'll serve more as a left fielder or a designated hitter in 2020.
Jun 25 2020Ozuna (facial laceration) could be used as Atlanta's primary designated hitter this season, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 29-year-old's bat will be in the lineup somewhere on a consistent basis, but Ozuna's declining defense over the couple of years could push him to DH rather than left field, while Nick Markakis and Adam Duvall platoon in the other spot. Austin Riley could also be in the LF/DH mix for Atlanta. Wherever he plays defensively, Ozuna's power will keep him in the heart of the batting order.
Jun 5 2020Ozuna's facial laceration is considered minor and he continues to work out daily, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna was able to drive himself to the hospital after the incident, a clear sign that the laceration he suffered was a minor issue. His participation in daily workouts also suggests the issue won't have any effect on his ability to ready for the start of the 2020 campaign, assuming there is one.
May 14 2020Ozuna could see significant action at designated hitter if the universal DH is part of a shortened MLB season, Gabriel Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: While Austin Riley is viewed as the likely top option to DH, Ozuna's somewhat shaky defense in left field could make Atlanta consider him for the spot as well. With veterans Nick Markakis and Adam Duvall on the bench, and top prospects Drew Waters and Cristian Pache potentially part of a taxi squad if the minor-league season is canceled, the roster would have plenty of outfield depth to cover any potential shift to DH for Ozuna.
Mar 20 2020Ozuna was having a rough spring at the plate when MLB was put on pause, hitting .083 (2-for-24) with no extra-base hits and a 1:12 BB:K. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: If he were a kid trying to crack the roster for the first time that kind of performance would be worrisome, but Ozuna's track record suggests it was just a matter of time before he found his rhythm, although the interruption in the schedule could reset that clock back to zero. After slugging at least 23 homers in four straight years, the 29-year-old is set to hold down a spot in the heart of Atlanta's batting order once the regular season finally begins.
Jan 21 2020Ozuna agreed to a one-year, $18 million deal with the Braves on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna will join his third organization after recording .241/.328/.472 slash line with 29 homers and 89 RBI in 130 games with the Cardinals in 2019. The veteran outfielder is still considered one of the league's premier power hitters after averaging 30 home runs and 100 RBI over the past three years. Ozuna figures to slot into the cleanup spot following the departure of Josh Donaldson, while the Braves plan to use him as their everyday left fielder, per David O'Brien of The Athletic.
Nov 12 2019Ozuna will not accept the Cardinals' qualifying offer, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna isn't at the same elite level as some players who were tendered qualifying offers, but he's evidently generating enough interest around the league that he won't have to settle for the one-year deal. Per Heyman's report, seven teams, including the Cardinals, have talked to the outfielder about a multi-year deal.
Nov 4 2019Ozuna was given a qualifying offer by the Cardinals on Monday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The draft-pick penalty which will now be attached to Ozuna could potentially compel him to accept the offer. He's a good hitter but not an elite one, having posted a wRC+ above 110 just once in the last five seasons, so teams could be hesitant to give up a pick to sign him to a long-term deal heading into his age-29 season.
Sep 25 2019Ozuna is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna is one of multiple starters sitting for the Cardinals on Wednesday. The outfielder played all 19 innings during Tuesday's 3-2 loss, going 0-for-6 with a pair of walks. Tyler O'Neill is starting in left field and hitting fifth in his stead.
Sep 24 2019Ozuna went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two walks and a run in a win over the Diamondbacks on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna didn't partake in the Cardinals' four-homer barrage, but he made more than his fair share of contributions. Ozuna had gone just 1-for-23 over the six games prior to Monday and is still hitting a miserable .148 (12-for-81) in September even when factoring in Monday's breakout. However, with eight of his 12 hits during the month going for extra bases (three doubles, five home runs), Ozuna has managed to compile a solid 11 RBI.
Sep 21 2019Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in a 9-8 victory over the Cubs on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna put the Cardinals in front 7-6 with a seventh-inning home run off Kyle Ryan. The 28-year-old had been slumping, going 6-for-45 with two home runs since Sept. 8. For the season, Ozuna is slashing .243/.325/.483 with 88 RBI in 460 at-bats.
Sep 17 2019Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a two-run, ground-rule double and a two-run home run in a win over the Nationals on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna was responsible for all of the Cardinals' runs in the critical win, with his seventh-inning two-bagger snapping a 2-2 tie. The slugging outfielder has left the yard twice in the last five games, but Monday's multi-hit effort was only his second of September.
Sep 12 2019Ozuna went 1-for-3 with two walks, a solo home run and two runs scored Thursday against the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna took Tim Melville deep in the third inning to record his 27th homer of the season. While he's recorded only six hits in his last 41 at-bats, Ozuna has still managed to hit three home runs in that span. For the season, he's maintained a .254/.33/.495 line across 478 plate appearances while also chipping in 74 runs scored and 82 RBI.
Sep 7 2019Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, three runs and two walks during a 10-1 victory against the Pirates on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran outfielder started the rout with a three-run long ball in the third. This was just his second homer in his last 13 games, and Ozuna also broke a 0-for-13 stretch with the homer. Ozuna is batting .255 with 26 home runs, 81 RBI, 72 runs and 12 steals in 411 at-bats this season.
Sep 4 2019Ozuna went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in a win over the Giants on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ozuna's 393-foot shot to left in the sixth inning turned out to be the only run scored by either squad. The round tripper snapped a couple of dubious streaks for the veteran outfielder -- it marked his first home run since Aug. 23, while also helping end the 0-for-19 skid that had encompassed his prior five games.
Sep 1 2019Ozuna is not in the Cardinals' starting lineup for Game 2 of their doubleheader Sunday.
Aug 26 2019Ozuna went 2-for-5 with a three-run double and two runs scored in Monday's 12-2 win over Milwaukee.

Jul 20 2018Ozuna went 2-for-5 with an RBI single in a loss to the Cubs on Thursday.Ozuna has now hit safely in six of his last eight games overall, although he still sports an ugly .190 average over 60 plate appearances in July. The veteran outfielder appeared to have worked his way through an early-season power drought earlier in the summer, but he's now gone without a home run since June 16, a 27-game stretch during which he's slashed just .222/.246/.250 across 114 plate appearances.
Jul 5 2018Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored Thursday against the Giants.Ozuna took advantage of several RBI opportunities, driving in runs on a groundout and single. He showed signs of breaking out of his slump, recording his first two-hit performance since June 26th and his first extra-base hit since the 25th. While he had been on a tear at the plate in the first half of June, Ozuna entered Thursday's game with just a .278 slugging percentage over the last 15 days, so his season of hot and cold spells has continued.
Jun 24 2018Ozuna went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run in a win over the Brewers on Saturday.Ozuna and Yadier Molina essentially served as the Cardinals offense on a day when only one other Cardinal, Yairo Munoz, managed so much as a single. The productive afternoon was simply an extension of what has been a stellar month of June for Ozuna, one that's seen him slash .329/.376/.620 with 26 hits overall, including seven home runs.
Jun 16 2018Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Saturday against the Cubs.Ozuna took Kyle Hendricks deep in the first inning, recording his 10th home run of the season. He has now homered in three consecutive games and has six home runs in June. Through May, his slugging percentage was at just .337, however, his scorching hot June performance has brought that mark up to .444, in line with his career mark.
Jun 14 2018Ozuna, who was responsible for both of the Cardinals' runs in a loss to the Padres on Wednesday with his fifth home run of June, now has a seven-game hitting streak and is hitting .400 for the month.Ozuna seems seriously intent on making up for lost time, as he'd started to hear rumblings about his lack of power numbers as May came to a close and only had three homers on his ledger. The slugging outfielder has hit safely in 11 of his 12 games this month, racking up six multi-hit efforts in the process. One of the keys has been Ozuna's ability to consistently put the ball in the air with plenty of velocity and distance which has been evidenced by his 26.3 percent HR/FB rate and 54.8 percent hard contact rate over his last 49 plate appearances.
Jun 12 2018Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a win over the Padres on Monday. With his fourth homer of June on Monday, Ozuna now has more than half of his round trippers on the season this month. The long ball was bound to come for the slugging outfielder, whose hard contact rate was often at a career-high figure throughout the first two months-plus of the season. Factoring in Monday's production, Ozuna now has five multi-hit outings in June, a tally that's helped lead to a .395 average and a 22-point boost in his season average overall.
Jun 10 2018Ozuna, who went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's win over the Reds, has already doubled his season homer total in the first eight games of June.Ozuna actually began heating up May 21 with a 2-for-3 effort against the Royals, a game he'd limped into with a .234 average. That figure has bumped up an impressive 47 points since that contest, but his power numbers have finally started taking off in the early going this month. Ozuna had actually been making hard contact at a career-best rate for most of the season, but he'd also been hitting the ball on the ground at a slightly higher clip than prior years as well. The latter trend has been reduced during his early-June tear, and by partly by boosting his already-impressive hard contact rate even further to 60.7 percent, he's already knocked three out of the yard over his first 33 plate appearances of the month heading into Sunday.
Jun 10 2018Ozuna went 2-for-4 with one RBI during Sunday's loss to the Reds. The 27-year-old outfielder got the Cardinals into the scoring column during the third inning with an RBI-single to left, scoring Matt Carpenter. Ozuna had a decent weekend series against Cincinnati, as he went 4-for-12 with two extra-base hits, two RBI and one walk. After a slow start to the season, he's batting .278 with six homers and 32 RBI across 59 games, although his WAR has dipped drastically so far this year in comparison to a season ago (5.8 in 2017 to 0.7 in 2018).
Jun 6 2018Ozuna went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and a run in a loss to the Marlins on Tuesday. The surging outfielder got to his former Marlins squad, generating his third multi-hit effort over the first four games of June in the process. Ozuna's bat has been blistering hot since May 21, a 13-game span in which he's hitting .487 with a double, two home runs, eight RBI and eight runs over 46 plate appearances, while also generating an eye-popping .523 wOBA.
Jun 3 2018Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a grand slam Sunday against the Pirates.Ozuna came to the plate with the bases full in the first inning and deposited a hanging offspeed pitch into the left field seats. It was his fifth home run of the season and second in as many games. He has now recorded hits in seven of his past eight games and has gone 11-for-28 in that span.
Jun 2 2018Ozuna went 2-for-4 in a loss to the Pirates on Friday after missing Thursday's game with a finger injury.Ozuna was back in the lineup after missing Thursday's contest with his finger issue. The outfielder was coming on at the plate as May came to a close, going an impressive 11-for-25 over the last seven games in which he registered at least one official at-bat. The fact he was able to kick off June with yet another multi-hit effort lends credence to the notion that he's returning to the level of play that he demonstrated in Miami, even as his power stroke remains mostly missing in action (three home runs over 215 plate appearances).
Jun 2 2018Ozuna was 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Saturday's win over the Pirates. The home run is Ozuna's fourth of the season, and he is now 15-for-32 over his last 10 games. The 27-year-old has a .271/.320/.360 slash line for the season, and is providing a huge boost to the Cardinals after a sluggish first seven weeks of the season.
Jun 1 2018Ozuna (finger) is starting in left field and hitting cleanup Friday against the Pirates, FOX Sports Midwest reports. He had appeared off the bench in each of the last two games, so it's not surprising that he was back on the lineup card for Game 2 of the series against Pittsburgh. Ozuna has heated up a little at the plate, going 11-for-25 (.440) with zero home runs and a 2:4 K:BB in his last nine games.
May 31 2018Ozuna (finger) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates, Jim Hayes of FOX Sports Midwest reports.Ozuna was a late scratch from Wednesday's lineup after jamming his finger on a play at second base on Tuesday. The Cardinals optioned fellow outfielder Tyler O'Neill to the minors in a flurry of moves Thursday, which seems to indicate Ozuna's finger issue is fairly minor.
May 30 2018Ozuna was removed from the starting lineup prior to Wednesday's tilt against the Brewers due to a jammed finger, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports. The injury appeared to occur during Tuesday's game on a play at second base. He was slated to start in left field and bat fourth Wednesday, but Tyler O'Neill has since replaced the 27-year-old in the lineup. Ozuna will be available off the bench if needed, and he'll be considered day-to-day moving forward.
May 28 2018Ozuna was dropped to fifth in the order Monday against the Brewers, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports. He had been hitting cleanup all season, and while he has been a disappointment on the whole, this move comes at an odd time, as Ozuna is 10-for-18 (.556 average) over his last five games. Jedd Gyorko is starting at second base and hitting cleanup against lefty Brent Suter.
May 27 2018Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a run in a win over the Pirates on Saturday.Ozuna's emergence continues, as he's now rapped out multiple hits in four of the last five games, and on eight occasions overall during May. The slugging outfielder has pushed his season average up 22 points to .265 since May 2, a figure that still has plenty of room for improvement but that is trending in the right direction.
May 26 2018Ozuna, who was benched for the Cardinals' last game Wednesday for arriving to the ballpark late, went 2-for-3 with a double in his return to the starting lineup against the Pirates on Friday.Ozuna's unfortunate case of oversleeping Wednesday interrupted a modest two-game hot streak in which he'd gone 5-for-7 with an RBI, a walk and two runs. However, he was able to pick right up where he'd left off, posting a third straight multi-hit effort on what was an otherwise mostly bleak night for the Cardinals offense. Ozuna has already raised his average 26 points to .260 during the three-game stretch, a sign he may finally be ready to start delivering on his considerable offensive upside.
May 23 2018Ozuna overslept and did not report to the ballpark on time, which is why he was a late scratch from Wednesday's lineup against the Royals, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. It sounds like it was a one-game benching, and the Cardinals and Ozuna will put the issue behind them heading into this weekend's series in Pittsburgh. Tyler O'Neill got the start in left field and went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts and a run. Ozuna is hitting .253/.295/.331 with three home runs and three steals in 190 plate appearances.
May 23 2018Ozuna is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.Ozuna was originally listed as a part of the starting lineup, but he turned out to be a late scratch. It's unclear if he's dealing with a minor injury, but more news about Ozuna's status should be released in the near future. Tyler O'Neill will draw the start in left field and hit fourth in his stead.
May 23 2018Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a stolen base in a loss to the Royals on Tuesday.A day off Sunday appears to have agreed with Ozuna, who's now 5-for-7 with an RBI, a walk, Tuesday's steal and two runs in the subsequent pair of games. The mini-surge has quickly bumped his season average up 19 points to .253, which nevertheless still lags considerably behind his solid career .275 figure. However, modest as a two-game sample is, it could serve as the impetus for the type of hot stretch at the plate that Ozuna has certainly proven capable previously in his career.
May 22 2018Ozuna went 2-for-3 with an RBI single, a walk and two runs in a win over the Royals on Monday.Ozuna received a day off Sunday and saw the surging Tyler O'Neill start in his stead in left field, but the slugger was back in his usual spot Monday while O'Neill shifted to right and sent Dexter Fowler to the bench. Ozuna responded by breaking out of the 0-for-20 slump that had encompassed his previous five games with his fifth multi-hit effort of May. The 27-year-old continues to struggle with his power numbers, however, despite the fact his hard contact rate remains a career-high 47.8 percent following Monday's contest.
May 20 2018Ozuna is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.Tyler O'Neill will get the start in left field and bat cleanup against right-hander Aaron Nola. Ozuna is now 0-for-his-last-22 after an 0-for-4 showing in Saturday's loss to Philadelphia. He's walking less but his strikeout rate is right in line with his career mark and he's making hard contact at the highest rate of his career, so it seems like only a matter of time before the 27-year-old gets it going.
May 11 2018Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and three runs in the Cardinals' 9-5 victory over the Padres on Friday. It had been a disappointing start at the plate so far for Ozuna coming off his career-high 37-homer campaign of last season, as this long ball was just his third in 142 at-bats. He's still sporting an underwhelming .261/.293/.359 slash line but hopefully this strong offensive showing is a sign he's in store for a hot streak that will see him start to push his .652 OPS back toward last season's fantastic mark of .924.
May 11 2018Ozuna went 2-for-4 in a win over the Padres on Thursday.Ozuna continues to make serviceable offensive contributions, but he's unquestionably underperforming in terms of overall impact as compared to prior seasons. The slugger has only seven extra-base hits (five doubles, two home runs) over his first 145 plate appearances, while his slugging percentage is currently a career-low .333. Likewise, his ISO is a jaw-dropping, anemic .079, easily a career-worst figure as well. Contact issues appear to be playing a part in his struggles, as Ozuna's .330 BABIP and career-high 47.1 percent hard contact rate is offset by a rise of more than four points in strikeout rate to 25.5 percent. Moreover, he's also pulling the ball at the highest rate (44.1 percent) since his rookie 2013 campaign in Miami.
May 5 2018Ozuna went 3-for-3 with a walk in a win over the Cubs on Friday.Although all three hits were singles, it was nevertheless an encouraging outing for the prize offseason acquisition, whose OBP still sits at an anemic .285. Despite a surprising lack of power to date (two home runs over 123 plate appearances), Ozuna has still been productive while compiling 17 RBI, and he's now posted multi-hit efforts in three of his last seven games.
Apr 27 2018Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Pirates. He's broken out of a 1-for-23 slump in a big way, collecting six hits and five RBI in his last three games. Ozuna's .257/.276/.347 slash line remains below expectations, but it's trending in the right direction.
Apr 26 2018Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a two-run single in a win over the Mets on Wednesday.Ozuna helped set the tone for what would end up being a prolific night for the Cardinals offense, coming through with a clutch two-run, two-out single in the third. The marquee offseason acquisition has been mired in a slump recently, as after a scorching hot start to April, he's only 2-for-27 over his last seven games. However, he's been a run-producing machine throughout the month, with Wednesday's pair of RBI pushing his total to 13.
Apr 22 2018Ozuna is not in the lineup Sunday against the Reds.Ozuna -- who has just one hit in his last 18 at-bats -- will be given Sunday off for the second straight week. The sample size is still relatively small, but the former Marlin is off to a brutal start at the plate this season. His walk rate is down, his strikeout rate is up and he's hitting for considerably less power than he did in previous seasons. He'll hopefully begin heating up with the weather moving forward, but the early results are disappointing. Tyler O'Neill draws the start in left field Sunday.
Apr 15 2018Ozuna is not in the lineup Sunday against the Reds.Ozuna went hitless Saturday for the first time since March 31 and his average currently sits at a solid .288 mark. He's knocked two homers and driven in 10 runs, but has surprisingly only walked once this season after posting a 9.4 percent walk rate in 2017. With Ozuna on the bench, Harrison Bader will step in and man left field. The starter should be back in there Monday against the Cubs.
Apr 14 2018Ozuna went 2-for-5 with an RBI single and a run in a 5-3 win over the Reds on Friday.Ozuna's average vaulted over the .300 mark with the multihit effort that extended his hitting streak to 12 games. The stretch covers the entirety of April thus far and also includes an impressive nine RBI. After going hitless over his first two games of the season, Ozuna has proven to be exactly what the Cardinals and fantasy owners were hoping for.
Apr 12 2018Ozuna went 1-for-6 with a solo home run against the Reds on Thursday.Ozuna extended his hitting-streak to 11 games with his solo home run Thursday. Though he has largely failed to hit for power in that span -- he has only three extra-base hits during the 11 game stretch -- he has still provided counting stats, highlighted by seven RBI and four runs scored. As the weather heats up, his power should come back more consistently, but in the mean time, there is little to complain about based on his early season production.
Apr 10 2018Ozuna went 2-for-5 with a two-run single and a double in a 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Brewers on Monday.Ozuna's torrid April continues, as he's now hit safely in all eight games of the month, with four of those outings of the multi-hit variety. Surprisingly, the overwhelming majority of his hits have been singles, with only a pair of doubles and a home run defying that description. Nevertheless, given Ozuna's past body of work and the fact he's clearly seeing the ball well in the early going, the more impactful hits certainly figure to surface sooner rather than later.
Apr 7 2018Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Diamondbacks. He now has a six-game hitting streak going, during which Ozuna is a blistering 11-for-26 (.423). His 0:11 BB:K through eight games isn't ideal, but as long as the 27-year-old is hitting the ball with this much authority when he does make contact, the Cards should be very happy with their big offseason acquisition.
Apr 4 2018Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Brewers. He slugged a mammoth 479-foot shot to left off Chase Anderson in the third with Tommy Pham aboard, making his first regular-season round tripper in a Cardinals uniform a memorable one. Ozuna has shrugged off an 0-for-8 start over his first two games to go 5-for-14 with a double, Tuesday's homer, four RBI and two runs over the subsequent three contests. As those numbers imply, the 27-year-old slugger has been hacking away, with the fact he's yet to draw a free pass after posting a career-high 9.4 percent walk rate last season a testament to that fact.
Apr 2 2018Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a double and a pair of RBI in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Mets. After going hitless with five strikeouts in his first nine at-bats with the Cardinals, Ozuna broke through in the third inning Sunday, roping a double to deep left to score Tommy Pham. He would go on to collect two more base hits in his final three at-bats of the afternoon, giving him some confidence heading into the Cardinals' three-game series in Milwaukee that begins Monday. Since he hasn't struck out in more than 23 percent of his plate appearances the past three campaigns, Ozuna should be less prone to the extended slumps that often befall most power hitters over the course of a long season.
Mar 23 2018Ozuna, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI from a three-run home run and a sacrifice fly in Thursday's 8-2 Grapefruit League win over the Braves, is now 11-for-22 after notching only four hits and 13 strikeouts in his first 28 spring at-bats, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.Manager Mike Matheny attributed the ragged start to his offseason acquisition trying too hard to make a solid first impression. He noted that Ozuna "wanted to come in here with a bang and bounce a ball over that roof", in reference to the administration building of his old Miami Marlins squad that sits behind the left-field wall of Roger Dean Stadium. Ozuna has subsequently relaxed at the plate and thrived as a result, acknowledging that he was trying hard to prove himself early on. Given his breakout 2017 in Miami last season and body of work in the latter half of spring, the 27-year-old could be primed for another 30-homer, 100-RBI campaign.
Mar 14 2018Ozuna, who came into Tuesday's 11-4 Grapefruit League in over the Marlins with just four hits in 28 at-bats, went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and two runs against his former team. The slugging outfielder was bound to break out of his funk sooner or later, and he picked on some of his former teammates while doing so Tuesday. Ozuna's first-inning two-bagger plated Dexter Fowler and opened the scoring on what would be a prolific afternoon for the Cardinals' offense, giving him his third RBI of spring in the process. While strikeouts have been a particular albatross on Ozuna's spring thus far, he encouragingly made contact in all four trips to the plate Tuesday, snapping a streak of nine consecutive games with at least one whiff.
Mar 13 2018Ozuna has gone 4-for-28 with a home run and 13 strikeouts across 11 Grapefruit League contests.Though the Cardinals' big offseason pickup is struggling to make contact during the spring, it's not expected to prevent Ozuna from settling into a spot in the heart of the order when Opening Day arrives. As the centerpiece of a quality lineup, Ozuna shouldn't notice too much of a downturn from the career-best marks of 37 home runs, 124 RBI and 93 runs he posted with Miami in 2017. Given that last year's .355 BABIP was almost 30 points above his career norm, however, there's a good chance Ozuna's .312 batting average falls more precipitously.
Mar 6 2018Ozuna is expected to be the Cardinals' cleanup hitter more often than not this season, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.Manager Mike Matheny is typically coy about lineup matters during spring training, but he hasn't shied away from utilizing the former Marlin consistently in the cleanup spot this year. Ozuna bashed 37 homers and drove in 124 runs with Miami last season, and if he's going to spend much of his time in the meat of the Cardinals' order, he very well could replicate those numbers in the more hitter-friendly environment of Busch Stadium.
Mar 1 2018Ozuna went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in a 3-3 Grapefruit League tie with the Twins on Thursday.Ozuna got a hold of a 2-0 fastball from Twins starter Adalberto Mejia in the second inning, getting it inside the left-field foul pole and placing it somewhere beyond his old Marlins spring training clubhouse at Roger Dean Stadium, as per Joe Trezza of MLB.com. The slugger had only one hit in his first seven spring at-bats coming into Thursday, but his mammoth connection was a tangible reminder of what the Cardinals hope he'll bring to the table on a consistent basis in the coming season. Ozuna's breakout 2017 in Miami included a .312/.376/.548 line with 37 home runs and 124 RBI, with all of those numbers representing career bests.
Jan 12 2018Ozuna agreed to a one-year contract with the Cardinals on Friday, avoiding arbitration. The financials remain undisclosed, but Ozuna is in line for a significant raise from the $3.5 million he made last season in his first year of arbitration. Ozuna, acquired from the Marlins in a December trade, will step into the heart of the order for St. Louis this season after slashing .312/.376.548 with 37 homers and 124 in 2017.
Dec 13 2017Ozuna was traded to the Cardinals on Wednesday, Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reports. After failing to secure Giancarlo Stanton, the Cardinals will snag a different outfielder from Miami, as Ozuna is heading to St. Louis following five seasons in the big-leagues with the Marlins. During his breakout 2017 campaign, Ozuna slashed .312/.376/.548 with 37 home runs and 124 RBI, with all stats checking in as career highs. At this point in time, the return for Ozuna hasn't been announced, but all players involved will need to pass their physicals in order for the deal to go through. Looking ahead, Ozuna is the impact bat that the Cardinals were searching for at the winter meetings, and he will be a mainstay at the number three or four spot in the order for St. Louis during this upcoming season. As for defensive positioning, Ozuna will probably remain in left field while Tommy Pham transitions to right.
Sep 30 2017Ozuna is out of Saturday's lineup against the Braves, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.Despite being scorching hot at the plate (.458/.527/.708 with three home runs over his last 48 at-bats), Ozuna will take a seat in the penultimate game of the year. Derek Dietrich will start in left field and hit sixth.
Sep 23 2017Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs, three runs scored and three RBI in Friday's 13-11 loss to the Diamondbacks. The 26-year-old has already established new career highs in just about every major hitting category but he isn't rested on his laurels in September, slashing .308/.333/.538 through 19 games with five homers and 15 RBI. With 36 home runs on the year and eight games left on the Marlins' schedule, Ozuna still has an outside shot at his first 40-HR campaign.
Sep 19 2017Ozuna is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.Despite going 7-for-13 with a homer and three RBI over his previous three starts, Ozuna will get Tuesday's game off. Ichiro Suzuki will start in his place in left field, batting leadoff.
Sep 19 2017Ozuna went 4-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBI during Monday's win over the Mets. After an inconsistent start to September, Ozuna has gone 7-for-13 with three RBI and three runs through his past three games. The 26-year-old outfielder has already cruised to career-high marks across the board with 34 homers, 113 RBI, 83 runs and a .305/.367/.539 slash line.
Sep 14 2017Ozuna is not in the starting nine for Thursday's game against the Phillies, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.Ozuna retreats to the bench for the second time in the past four games after going 0-for-4 with four strikeouts during Wednesday's loss. In his place, Derek Dietrich will draw the assignment in left.
Sep 10 2017Ozuna isn't in the lineup Sunday against the Braves, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. After starting 22 consecutive games, Ozuna will have a well-earned day off. In that span he slashed .318/.394/.534 and hit five home runs. Tyler Moore will hit fourth and start in left field while Ozuna heads to the bench. The Marlins have Monday off, so Ozuna should return to the lineup Tuesday against the Phillies.
Sep 6 2017Ozuna went 3-for-4 and scored the Marlins' only run in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Nationals. It's been feast or famine for Ozuna lately, as he has four multi-hit performances and six oh-fers in his last 10 games. A 4:14 BB:K is the main culprit, and while his .275/.341/.375 slash line over that stretch doesn't make him a big liability in season-long formats, he's become a very risky DFS play due to that game-to-game volatility.
Aug 29 2017Ozuna went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI in Monday's loss to the Nationals. While Max Scherzer was able to keep Giancarlo Stanton in check Monday night, he had no such luck with Ozuna. The 26-year-old is now slashing an electric .333/.430/.600 through 25 games in August with seven homers and 22 RBI.
Aug 26 2017Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and a walk Saturday against the Padres.Ozuna blasted his 31st homer of the season to tie the game at one in the fourth inning of a contest the Marlins would win in extra innings. He's homered in four of his last six games, and he's been a fantasy superstar this year with a .311/.376/.560 slash line.
Aug 26 2017Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a game-winning three-run home run in Friday's 8-6 victory over the Padres. While Giancarlo Stanton was busy slugging two homers of his own, Ozuna saved his fireworks for seventh inning after Adam Conley and the Marlins bullpen had blown the early lead Stanton had given them. Ozuna now has 30 homers and 101 RBI on the season to go along with his dynamite .311/.376/.556 slash line, and he needs just three more runs to set a new career high in that category as well.
Aug 25 2017Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a run scored and an RBI in Thursday's win over the Phillies. The Marlins' outfield trio combined for eight hits (including two doubles and two homers), three RBI and six runs in a 9-8 victory. Giancarlo Stanton has been the engine of the offense as the team makes a late push for a wild-card spot, but Ozuna's been doing his part as well with a .316/.411/.539 slash line, five home runs and 17 RBI through 21 games in August.
Aug 23 2017Osuna homered in each half of Tuesday's doubleheader sweep of the Phillies, going a combined 3-for-8 with two walks, three runs scored and four RBI over both games. He now sports a .300/.390/.529 slash line in August with five home runs, 11 runs and 16 RBI in 19 games. Ozuna's breakout shows no signs of fading, and his ability to keep slugging and offering support for Giancarlo Stanton will go a long way towards determining whether the Marlins stay afloat in the NL wild-card chase.
Aug 14 2017Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored during Monday's win over San Francisco. This was just the fourth home run in the second half for Ozuna, so it was a welcomed blast for gamers and the Marlins. Even with a little dip in his power output, he sports an impressive .303/.363/.545 slash line with 27 homers, 89 RBI and 66 runs for the campaign. Ozuna remains a high-end asset in all settings, and an uptick in production down the fantasy stretch isn't out of the question.
Aug 8 2017Ozuna is taking a seat for Miami's contest against Washington on Tuesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNsports.com reports. After hitting a three-run bomb in the series opener, the Miami left fielder will get what looks like a breather as the set continues Wednesday night. Ichiro Suzuki will take his place in the outfield and bat seventh against Nationals right-hander A.J. Cole.
Aug 6 2017Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run during Sunday's win over Atlanta.Ozuna went without a round tripper through the first 15 games out of the All-Star break, but he's now hit three bombs through his past seven games to silence any concerns of a second-half slump. With 26 homers, 87 RBI, 63 runs and a .306/.364/.553 slash line, Ozuna is posting a high-end fantasy campaign and already has career-high marks in the homers and RBI columns.
Aug 1 2017Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Nationals. It's his second homer in three games and 25th of the year. Jul 31 2017Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's loss to the Reds. The dinger ended a 19-game power drought for Ozuna, but the 26-year-old was still plenty productive with a .301/.370/.452 slash line and 14 RBI between homers. He's now set a new career high with 24 home runs and is four RBI shy of his previous best (85, set in 2014) as the young slugger's breakout season continues.

He's locked into the heart of a capable lineup and in the midst of a career-best showing. It would be surprising to see a significant downturn in production going forward.
Jul 23 2017Ozuna is out of the lineup Sunday against the Reds, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.Ozuna hasn't missed a start since June 29, but will take a seat in favor of Ichiro Suzuki for the afternoon matchup. Ozuna went 0-for-4 at the plate Saturday, but owns an .845 OPS in the month of July.

Jun 29 2017Ozuna is not in the lineup Thursday against the Mets, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. It's a rare day off for Ozuna, who will head to the bench for just the first time all season. There has been no report of injury, so it appears to simply be a deserved day off for the 26-year-old outfielder. May 31 2017Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and two runs against the Phillies on Tuesday. We all knew Ozuna had power, but he's impressing with a .314 batting average that's giving his fantasy value a major boost. The question is, can it be sustained? Ozuna is a high-BABIP hitter, but he's sitting on a career high in that category now and has benefited from a fortune-favored HR/FB that's nearly double his career rate. His stats will probably level off, but that doesn't mean Ozuna won't remain a valuable fantasy contributor.
May 28 2017Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Angels. The homer, a ninth-inning shot off Los Angeles closer Bud Norris, was Ozuna's 12th of the season but his first in 16 games. May 9 2017Ozuna (hamstring) is in the lineup Tuesday, batting third and playing left field, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.Ozuna appeared to pull his hamstring in the ninth inning of Monday night's loss to St. Louis, but it seems like a night of rest was enough to get the injury back to normal. He'll slot into the lineup in his normal spot between Christian Yelich and Giancarlo Stanton.
May 9 2017Ozuna appeared to injure his right hamstring and limped off the field following his final at-bat during Monday's loss to the Cardinals, Craig Davis of the Sun-Sentinel reports. "When I got out of the batter's box it felt like it was getting tight," Ozuna said after the game. "But I'm OK. That's happened most of the time. But at times it's a little harder, not like it's going to pull so bad, but a little bit."The Marlins left fielder slugged two more homers Monday, giving him 11 on the season, and the team can ill afford to lose him after seeing starting third baseman Martin Prado (hamstring) and utility man Miguel Rojas (thumb) land on the DL over the weekend. Ozuna thinks he'll be able to play Tuesday, but don't be surprised if he's given a day or two to rest in an attempt to prevent the issue from getting worse.
May 4 2017Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's win over the Rays. The fourth-inning blast was the second longest homer ever clubbed at Tropicana Field, hitting the Rays' 2011 AL East championship banner hanging high above the second deck in left-center. The 26-year-old is well on his way to a breakout season.
Apr 22 2017Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Padres. His impressive April continues, as Ozuna is now slashing .333/.377/.635 through 16 games with six homers, eight runs scored and 20 RBI. His ,385 BABIP is bound to fall, but the 26-year-old's run production should stay strong if he can maintain even some of the gains he's shown in his career-high .302 ISO thus far.
Apr 17 2017Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Sunday's win over the Mets.He also climbed the wall in left field in the fifth inning to rob Wilmer Flores of extra bases and preserve what was at the time a no-hit bid by Dan Straily. Apr 14 2017Ozuna went 2-for-6 with two walks and a grand slam in Thursday's extra-inning loss to the Mets.He cleared the bases in the first inning by pulverizing a Robert Gsellman fastball, sending it over the left-field wall with a 110 mph exit velocity, and the Mets mostly refused to pitch to the 26-year-old for the next 15 frames. Ozuna is off to a blistering start to 2017, slashing .389/.452/.722 through nine games with four homers and an MLB-leading 16 RBI.
Apr 11 2017Ozuna went 2-for-2 with two home runs, six RBI and a walk during Tuesday's 8-4 win over the Braves.Ozuna plated a run with a sacrifice fly in the first inning before launching a three-run homer to right in the third and a two-run job to left in the fifth. The 26-year-old entered the game batting a robust .375 and upped that to .423 to go along with a Major League-leading 12 RBI after this monster performance.
Apr 8 2017Ozuna went 2-for-4 with his first homer of the year, a walk, two RBI and two runs against the Mets on Saturday. He's opened the season with a five-game hitting streak that has him at .429 with six RBI. Ozuna is an interesting case for fantasy purposes, as he's had some extreme hot streaks that have made him look like a potential star, but also some major slumps that have taken the shine off his numbers. It's worth considering the possibility that he's essentially reached his ceiling as a hitter; after all, he's posted stunningly consistent numbers throughout his pro career. Ozuna's MLB slash line last year was .266/.321/.452; his career line in the minors is .276/.336/.492.
Apr 8 2017Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI in Friday's win over the Mets. The 26-year-old is off to a good start to the campaign, going 7-for-17 through four games with four RBI. Ozuna is still looking for his first extra-base hit of 2017, but if he keeps making solid contact the doubles and homers will come.
Apr 6 2017Ozuna went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Nationals. He's off to a quick start, collecting three hits and three RBI through the Marlins' first two games. Ozuna has yet to really put things together through three-plus seasons in the majors, but at 26 years old he could still have some untapped potential.
Mar 21 2017Ozuna went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, his fourth long ball of the spring, and came around to score on a walk in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Braves. He continues to enjoy a solid spring, hitting .316/.357/.684 through 38 at-bats. Ozuna primarily hit fourth of fifth last season for the Marlins, and the 26-year-old should once again slot into the heart of a young and improving batting order in Miami, giving him a shot at matching or topping his career high of 85 RBI.
Mar 18 2017Ozuna went 2-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run, his third blast of the spring, in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals. He's now hitting .294 with a .618 SLG through 34 spring at-bats, although Ozuna's 1:8 BB:K suggests he's still got some work to do to get ready for Opening Day. The 26-year-old posted career bests in walk rate (7.1 percent) and strikeout rate (18.9 percent) last year, however, and further development of his plate discipline could allow him to take his game to the next level in 2017.
Mar 14 2017Ozuna went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets. The two-baggers came against Noah Syndergaard and Robert Gsellman, so Ozuna gets extra credit for the level of competition he was facing. The Marlins left fielder is now hitting .286 with a .571 SLG through 28 spring at-bats, and is rounding into form nicely with Opening Day still a couple of weeks away.
Mar 13 2017Ozuna went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly and a solo home run, his second blast of the spring, in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals. The homer came off top St. Louis prospect Luke Weaver, but Ozuna is only hitting .240 (6-for-25) so far on the spring with a discouraging 0:6 BB:K. On the bright side, his two home runs already ties his previous best during Grapefruit League play, set each of the last three years. The 26-year-old has slugged 23 home runs in two of the last three regular seasons and may still have some upside, but it's also possible Ozuna has already reached his ceiling as a hitter.
Mar 4 2017Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals. He's 3-for-10 to begin the spring, but Friday's shot was his first spring homer. Ozuna tied his career high with 23 home runs in 2016, but the Marlins will be looking for a little more from their 26-year-old left fielder this season.
Feb 28 2017Ozuna (shoulder) is included in the lineup for Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.A sore shoulder cost Ozuna a few days of action, but he'll be back in left field and hit sixth in the order Tuesday, which could be his regular lineup spot once the regular season arrives. A second-half collapse ended up depressing Ozuna's final numbers in 2016, but he still brought value for those who drafted him with 23 homers, 76 RBI and a .266 batting average.
Feb 25 2017Ozuna (shoulder) is expected to play Sunday against the Cardinals, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. The Marlins still have plenty of time to scratch Ozuna if his shoulder acts up over the next 24 hours, but it looks like the issue won't significantly delay the start of his Grapefruit League campaign.
Feb 24 2017Ozuna will not start in Saturday's Grapefruit League game due to mild shoulder discomfort, and manager Don Mattingly said he'll slowly work Ozuna into the lineup when he's ready, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.Ozuna may be available sometime next week if he can heal quickly, though there'll be more updates to follow because he's set for the everyday regular-season lineup. The 26-year-old should deliver another 20-homer season if healthy, and perhaps a productive showing in RBI, but everything else about his game is up in the air, despite his youth and upside.
Jan 13 2017Ozuna avoided arbitration with the Marlins on Friday with a $3.5 million deal, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.Ozuna bounced back from a difficult 2015 season with a .266/.321/.452 line with 23 home runs and a first career All-Star berth in 2016. That'll get him a decent salary for his first round of arbitration.
Oct 2 2016Ozuna is out of the lineup for a second straight game Sunday against the Nationals, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.Ozuna is one of many Marlins regulars getting days off at the end of the season and he will yield Sunday's season finale to Christian Yelich in center field, while Xavier Scruggs will enter the lineup in left field and bat sixth for the Marlins.

He's posted a .270/.324/.470 slash line over 508 at-bats with 72 RBI and 69 runs scored.
Sep 13 2016Ozuna (knee) is in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Braves, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.Ozuna was removed from Monday's game with a bruised knee, but he will be able to get back on the field just a day later. As he has done regularly of late when healthy, he will man right field and hit fifth in the Marlins' batting order.
Sep 12 2016Ozuna was removed with a left knee contusion for precautionary reasons, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. With expanded rosters, the Marlins had no reason not to play it safe with Ozuna. But if the injury is indeed just a contusion, we should expect Ozuna to be back on the field relatively quickly. Consider him day-to-day for now, but chances are high he'll be in the lineup Tuesday as Miami's series against the Braves continues.
Sep 11 2016Ozuna is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.Since returning from a wrist injury, Ozuna has gone just 2-for-10 with four strikeouts over three games. Sep 6 2016As expected, Ozuna (wrist) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald. It was reported Sunday that Ozuna would be out until Thursday or Friday, and it appears that timeline has not changed. Christian Yelich will make another start in center field Tuesday in Ozuna's place.
Sep 4 2016As expected, Ozuna (wrist) remains out of the lineup Sunday against the Indians, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.Ozuna began experiencing wrist problems in Wednesday's game, and has been held out of the lineup ever since. Even with the DH spot available in an AL ballpark, Ozuna's ailment has prevented him from returning to action. He should be considered questionable for the upcoming three-game series against the Phillies.
Sep 4 2016Ozuna (wrist) is not expected to return until Thursday or Friday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.Ozuna has been dealing with a wrist injury that has held him out for four games, but he plans to take batting practice on Wednesday. Depending on how his wrist responds to the extra strain, he may or may not be ready to go for the weekend series against the Dodgers. If the results do not go as anticipated, Miami may be forced to consider a DL stint for the center fielder.
Sep 2 2016Ozuna does not believe he will play during this weekend's series against the Indians due to his sore wrist, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.Ozuna will sit out Friday for the second day in a row, and it appears he will receive more time off in an effort to alleviate the soreness in his wrist. Ozuna is hoping to get back on the field when the Marlins return home next week, but the team will be home all week from Monday through the following Sunday, so it's it's not exactly clear when he will be ready to return to action.
Sep 2 2016Ozuna (wrist) is out of the lineup Friday against the Indians, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. With Ozuna out for the second day in a row, Miami will deploy an outfield of Destin Hood, Christian Yelich, and Jeff Francoeur for their series opener against the Indians. Until further notice, consider Ozuna day-to-day heading into Saturday's outing.
Sep 1 2016Ozuna (wrist) is not in the lineup against the Mets on Thursday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.Ozuna injured his wrist Wednesday in an attempt to make a diving catch, and though he'll be held out with the ailment Thursday, he should still be considered day-to-day until further notice. In his absence, the Marlins will go with an outfield of Jeff Francoeur, Christian Yelich and Ichiro Suzuki.

Aug 18 2016Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a two-run shot versus the Reds on Thursday.Ozuna now has 22 home runs -- one off his career high -- as he continues his breakout year. The last two weeks have been rough on him (.143 batting average), but as a whole, the 25-year-old is getting on base more than ever before, and he has dramatically cut down on his strikeout rate.
Aug 15 2016Ozuna went 1-for-5 with a solo homer in Monday's 6-3 win over the Reds.Ozuna reached the 20-homer milestone with his sixth-inning blast. The Marlins will be searching for alternative sources of offense with slugger Giancarlo Stanton (groin) out for the season, and the 25-year-old outfielder is a good candidate to provide some judging by a solid .281/.338/.488 line that represents career-bests across the board.
Aug 15 2016Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Sunday's win over the White Sox.It may not seem like much, but it was Ozuna's first multi-hit game since July 29 and just his second RBI in August. With Giancarlo Stanton (groin) now out for the rest of the year, the Marlins desperately need Ozuna's bat to wake up if they're going to stay in the wild card chase.
Aug 7 2016Ozuna is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies, Jenny Cavnar of Root Sports reports.Ozuna will have the day off as Ichiro Suzuki starts Sunday's outing in center field. Ozuna will likely return to his starting spot Monday when the Marlins take on the Johnny Cueto and the Giants.

He's homered in back-to-back contests to bring his season total up to 19 and is working a robust .298/.351/.520 triple slash over 379 at-bats this year.
Jul 30 2016Ozuna clubbed his 18th home run of the season as part of a 2-for-4 effort in Friday's loss to the Cardinals. It was the outfielder's first homer since way back on July 1 and prior to Friday's blast, he had batted .202/.262/.269 over his last 21 games. Ozuna has, however, hit in three straight, including the home run and a pair of doubles, and appears to be getting back in a groove at the plate. Even with the sluggish July, Ozuna is slashing .299/.350/.515 on the year with 18 home runs, 57 runs scored and 54 RBI.
Jul 26 2016Ozuna is out of the lineup for Tuesday's matchup with Philadelphia, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.Ozuna will get his first maintenance day in eight games as Ichiro Suzuki takes his place in center and bats leadoff. Ozuna has gone 7-for-38 (.184) with no homers in 10 games since the start of the second half. He'll likely be back out there when the Phillies send Zach Eflin to the mound in the series finale.
Jul 17 2016Ozuna is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals. No specific reason has been given for Ozuna's absence, so this appears to be just a regular maintenance day for the 25-year-old. He'll sit in favor of Ichiro Suzuki in center field, but carry a .886 OPS into Monday's series opener against the Phillies.
Jul 16 2016Ozuna went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI in Friday's win over the Cardinals. The All-Star outfielder opened the second half just how he spent the majority of the first half: scorching hot. The multi-hit effort pushed his slash line to a strong .308/.360/.534. He's been the Marlins most consistent run producer, accumulating 54 runs scored and driving home 49 RBI during this breakout campaign. Ozuna's .894 OPS is currently 120 points higher than his previous career high and with 17 long balls on the year, he's just six home runs away from tying his career best of 23 set in 2014.

Jun 29 2016Ozuna had two hits and scored a run in his return to the lineup Tuesday against the Tigers. After missing a couple of games with a minor wrist injury, Ozuna went right back to work in his return with a 2-for-5 night. Ozuna continues to beast his way through the 2016 season, slashing .321/.375/.570 with 16 home runs, 44 RBI and 48 runs scored over 74 games.
Jun 28 2016Ozuna (wrist) is back in the lineup Tuesday, batting cleanup and starting in center field against the Tigers. After missing the last two games of the Marlins' series against the Cubs due to a sore wrist, the talented Ozuna will draw back into the lineup Tuesday. It's a good sign for Ozuna that he's not only in the lineup, but he's also playing center field when manager Don Mattingly could have used him in the DH spot in an American League park.
Jun 26 2016Ozuna (wrist) remains out of the lineup Sunday against the Cubs.Ozuna was held out of action for Saturday's matchup due to what was later revealed as wrist soreness, and that ailment will force another absence Sunday. With a team day off on tap for Monday, the Marlins are likely being overly cautious with their center fielder in an effort to get him healthy before next week's two-game series in Detroit. With Ozuna on the shelf, Ichiro Suzuki will get his second straight start in center field.
Jun 25 2016Ozuna is out of the lineup Saturday due to wrist soreness, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. The extent of the issue is uncertain, but a wrist injury to a slugger like Ozuna is bound to cause some concern. He has homered four times in his last six games though, so it doesn't seem this is anything that been bothering him very long. Ozuna has improved his plate skills significantly this season, resulting in 61-point jump in batting average from last year.
Jun 25 2016Ozuna is out of the lineup Saturday against the Cubs, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.Ozuna, who's seen game action in 53 straight games, will cede center field duties to Ichiro Suzuki on Saturday. Ozuna continues to anchor the middle of the Marlins' lineup, going 8-for-19 (.421) with four homers in the last six games. He'll likely be back in center for the series finale with the Cubs on Sunday.
Jun 24 2016Ozuna smacked his 16th home run of the year, a solo shot, during Thursday's victory over the Cubs.It was his only hit in four trips to the dish. Ozuna is sporting a robust .322/.373/.578 slash with 16 home runs, 46 runs scored and 44 RBI. The RBI total through 72 games has already matched his number from last year over 123 contests and he's just one run scored short of matching his 2015 total in that category as well.
Jun 23 2016Ozuna had two hits and scored a run in Wednesday's win over the Braves. The 25-year-old outfielder continues to rake with a strong .323/.375/.571 slash over 266 at-bats. He's been the Marlins' best hitter for the majority of the season while chipping in 15 home runs and 43 RBI to go along with 45 runs scored.
Jun 21 2016Ozuna is out of the lineup for Tuesday's matchup with Atlanta, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.Ozuna had not missed game action since April 28 and will therefore receive a much-deserved maintenance day. Throughout that time span, the 25-year-old has built upon his breakout 2016 season, slashing .362/.415/.643 to go along with 38 runs and 34 RBI over 49 games. Ichiro Suzuki will man center field duties in Ozuna's absence Tuesday.
Jun 20 2016Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo homers in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Rockies.Ozuna has really heated up over the last two games, smacking three homers en route to five RBI. He has been the most productive member of a stacked Marlins outfield, slashing .322/.374/.567 while leading the team with 15 long balls.
Jun 19 2016Ozuna supplied all the game's offense Sunday, going 3-for-4 with a three-run home run in a win over the Rockies. The homer was his 13th of the season and while he's cooled down a bit in June, Ozuna's still hitting .274 (17-for-62) on the month with three home runs and 14 RBI in 17 games.
Jun 12 2016Ozuna cranked his 12th home run of the season in Saturday's loss to the Diamondbacks. The eighth inning solo shot was his only hit in five trips to the plate. Ozuna looked to be cooling off for a brief moment there, but is now 10-for-25 in his last five games with one home run and eight RBI over that span. He continues to be Miami's biggest run producer and is slashing .323/.368/.557 with 12 home runs and 37 RBI in 61 games this season.
Jun 9 2016Ozuna banged out three singles and a double in five at-bats Thursday against Minnesota, driving in three runs and scoring another. After cooling off for a while, Ozuna exploded in this series against the sad-sack Twins -- particularly in the last two games, in which he's provided six hits and five RBI. With the Marlins heading to hitter-friendly Arizona and scheduled to miss Zack Greinke, he's got a great chance to keep the hot streak going. The harsh reality that he simply isn't this good will come for him at some point, but until then, we may as well enjoy the ride as he cruises toward a likely spot on the National League All-Star team.
Jun 8 2016Ozuna went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI in Wednesday's road loss to Minnesota, ending an eight-game skid in which he'd gone just 2-for-26 (.077).Even that slump couldn't take too much of the shine off the big stats Ozuna's delivered for the Marlins and fantasy owners this year. That said, there's reason for fantasy owners to exercise caution with -- or even sell high on -- the 25-year-old outfielder. Aside from a slight spike in fly-ball rate (which does lend itself to an increase in homers), there's little in Ozuna's statistical profile to suggest that he's grown into a different player from the one who hit .265/.311/.416 over his first three MLB campaigns. That .365 BABIP will continue falling down to normality, leaving us with more or less the same Ozuna that we've come to know in past seasons.
Jun 3 2016Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and two RBI in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Mets. He'll be retelling the story behind this one for a long time, as Ozuna connected on a 100mph-fastball from Noah Syndergaard on his roundtripper, his 11th on the season. The 24-year-old had also gone hitless over his last four games, so the homer was certainly notable in more ways than one. Despite the recent struggles, he's slashing .327/.377/.579 over 202 at-bats, while already surpassing his 2015 homer total.
May 29 2016Ozuna stayed hot in Sunday's win over the Braves, finishing 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and three runs scored. The 25-year-old has been on fire of late, as he extended his hitting streak to 11 games and slugged his third homer of that stretch. Ozuna is also batting .344 on the season and has already equaled his home run total from all of last year, putting him firmly on track for a career year if he can keep it up.
May 28 2016Ozuna went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Braves. The 25-year-old continues to wield one of the hottest bats in the majors, now slashing .426/.455/.734 over 94 at-bats in May. The performance marked Ozuna's fifth straight multi-hit effort, while extending his streak of reaching base safely to 34 games.
May 23 2016Ozuna hit his ninth home run as part of a 3-for-4 game with two runs scored in Monday's win over the Rays.Ozuna extended his hit streak to five games and now has six extra-base hits including two homers in the powerful stretch. The lack of power from Ozuna in 2015 -- just 10 home runs and a .383 slugging percentage in 123 games -- was a big reason why he fell out of favor by the end of the season. But Ozuna is still only 25 years old, is still growing into his power, and has to develop it in one of the toughest hitter's parks in the league. It shouldn't be terribly surprising that he went through some growing pains, and now in 2016 he's living up to the potential he showed in 2014 when he mashed 23 home runs.
May 21 2016Ozuna launched his eighth home run of the year, a solo shot, during Friday's loss to the Nationals.Batting a robust .386 with five home runs during the month of May, Ozuna has been carrying the Marlins' offense for a couple of weeks. He remains one of the hotter hitters in the big leagues and has pushed his season slash to .301/.348/.529 with 24 runs scored and 22 RBI over 153 at-bats.
May 17 2016Ozuna mashed a solo home run to extend his hit streak to 16 games during Monday's win over the Phillies. There are not many hotter hitters at the moment as Ozuna continues his assault on National League pitching. For the year, Ozuna is slashing .308/.353/.524 with seven home runs and 20 RBI. His peripheral numbers (23.5 K% and 6.5 BB%) are largely in line with his miserable 2015 season while he's nearly double his ISO from .124 in 2015 to .217 this year. While a high BABIP (.370) and 17.5 HR/FB% point to some current luck and future regression, Ozuna has shown this type of power in the past and will remain a strong run producer batting behind Christian Yelich and Giancarlo Stanton.
May 15 2016Ozuna scored twice and drove home a pair of runs while going 3-for-5 with a triple in Saturday night's win over the Nationals.Ozuna also clubbed a pair of hits in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader as he continues to pick up his season. He's now hit safely in 14-straight games while racking up nine multi-hit efforts over that span. His season liner has ridden to a strong .313/.361/.552 through 35 games to go along with 21 runs scored, six home runs and 19 RBI.
May 11 2016Ozuna collected three hits in four at-bats during Tuesday's loss to the Brewers, driving in a run and scoring once. The Marlins' offense scored just two runs in the loss, but they've been clicking overall during the past several weeks. Ozuna has done his part in the surge, putting together a 10-game hit streak (with seven multi-hit efforts) to bring his batting line up to .294/.344/.504 on the year after hitting just .229 in April.
May 7 2016Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Friday's 6-4 victory over the Phillies. The 25-year-old outfielder's bat remains red-hot, as he's now managed three straight multi-hit efforts. Ozuna has also hit safely in six consecutive games, and reached base safely in 14 straight. The recent offensive surge has the four-year pro's line up to .260/.313/.462 over 104 at-bats.
May 4 2016Ozuna mashed a two run home run, his fifth of the season, during Tuesday's win over the Diamondbacks.Ozuna has struggled with consistency a bit so far this season and is batting just .228 with a .290 OBP through 92 at-bats while also striking out 25 times with just eight walks in 24 games. On the positive side, he's clubbed five home runs and is slugging .457 with 13 RBI a year after hitting just 10 home runs in 494 at-bats. It is nice to see the power bounce back in the early going and he'll remain a solid run producer batting fifth in the Marlins lineup.
Apr 28 2016Ozuna is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Dodgers, according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.Manager Don Mattingly is hoping that holding Ozuna out will help him snap out of a 2-for-11 skid at the plate. Ozuna's day off allows his replacement -- Ichiro Suzuki -- to start against fellow countryman Kenta Maeda.

Apr 16 2016Ozuna was 3-for-5 with a double and run scored in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Braves.Hitting in the two-hole, the four-year veteran put forth his best performance of the new season. The one blemish was when Ozuna couldn't deliver in a clutch eighth-inning RBI opportunity, as he struck out with two outs and the bases loaded. Friday's effort marked the 25-year-old's second multi-hit game of 2016, as he continues to find his way at the plate in the early going. Despite the three hits Friday, he's slashing a lackluster .229/.250/.371 line over the first eight games.
Apr 13 2016Ozuna is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets, according to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro.Ozuna owns just a .510 OPS six games into the season, so manager Don Mattingly decided to give him a mental break Wednesday. Apr 12 2016Ozuna cranked a solo home run Monday, his first of the season, while going 2-for-6 in a win over the Mets. The Marlins' offense jumped all over Mets' starter Steven Matz, but Ozuna waited until the sixth inning to pile on with a home run off of lefty Antonio Bastardo. After ripping his way through spring training, Ozuna's bat has cooled considerably over the opening week and he's got just four hits in 24 at-bats so far this season (.167/.200/.333). Despite the sluggish start to the season, Ozuna has stuck in the No. 2 spot in the order, a great sign for his potential to produce throughout the season.
Mar 25 2016Ozuna (ankle) returned to the Marlins' Grapefruit League lineup Thursday, registering a single and a walk in three plate appearances. He sustained a minor ankle injury Tuesday but the slugger appears to be fully healthy as he's in the lineup once again on Friday. Mar 1 2016Ozuna will open the exhibition season batting second in the Marlins' lineup, the Miamie Herald reports. After an offseason of uncertainty with trade rumors swirling, it appears Manager Don Mattingly is ready to start Ozuna with clean slate. The outfielder struggled last season to match his breakout 2014 campaign, slashing just .259/.308/.383 in 2015 a year after belting 23 home runs during his first full season in the majors. Batting in front of Christian Yelich and Giancarlo Stanton will provide Ozuna plenty of run-scoring opportunities if he is able to stick near the top of Miami's lineup.
Jan 6 2016Ozuna has been the subject of trade talks between the Miami Marlins and the Texas Rangers for a month, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports, but those talks have "yet to significantly advance."Ozuna was disappointing in 2015 (.259/.308/.383 in 494 plate appearances), but he is just 25 years old and all of one year removed from a 23-homer, 85-RBI season with the Marlins. If the Marlins are ready to give up on Ozuna, there will be a team ready to pounce. However, it doesn't appear the Rangers, seemingly set with an outfield of Josh Hamilton, Delino DeShields, and Shin-Soo Choo, are ready to pull the trigger just yet.
Oct 3 2015Ozuna went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a run scored in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Phillies.Ozuna has put together a 14-for-33 streak at the conclusion of a largely disappointing season. Sep 12 2015Ozuna is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals.Ozuna went 0-for-7 over his last two games after opening the month with a six-game hit streak, so manager Dan Jennings decided to sit him down Saturday. Sep 3 2015Ozuna knocked a two-run home run and scored twice during Wednesday's win over the Braves. The home run was Ozuna's eighth of the season, but fourth in just 18 games since he returned from the minors. While strikeouts remain a concern, Ozuna's .254/.275/.522 slash line since being recalled is much more in line with what the team was expecting from their young outfielder. He'll continue to get regular starts for the remainder of the season with an opportunity to drive in plenty of runs while batting fifth in Miami's lineup.
Aug 27 2015Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a double and one run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Pirates.Ozuna has turned things around since returning from the minors leagues and despite hitting just .233 over his first 12 games, he's slugging .465 with a pair of home runs and four doubles in 43 at-bats. After a highly disappointing start to the season, Ozuna has a chance to finish strong for the Marlins.

With this return after he hit quite well in his stint with Triple-A New Orleans, Ozuna seems to be a candidate to finally deliver on the promise his fantasy owners drafted him for. Better late than never.
Aug 19 2015Ozuna went 1-for-5 with a solo homer in the Marlins' loss to the Brewers on Wednesday afternoon. He's started four of five games for the Marlins since being recalled Saturday, taking over in center field with Christian Yelich on the disabled list. Aug 18 2015Ozuna is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Brewers. The 24-year-old doubled and scored a run in Monday's win, giving him two hits in 11 at-bats since his return to the major leagues. He will give way to Cole Gillespie in center field Tuesday, but it looks like Ozuna will play on at least a semi-regular basis while Christina Yelich (knee) remains on the DL.
Aug 15 2015Ozuna made his return to the Marlins' lineup Saturday against the Cardinals, going 1-for-4 while playing center field.Ozuna made his way back to the big leagues thanks to Christian Yelich's trip to the DL and a strong .317/.379/.558 line while at Triple-A New Orleans. It will take some time to know whether Ozuna actually found his swing in the minors, but he should still figure to see regular starts in center field.
Aug 15 2015Ozuna was recalled by the Marlins on Saturday.Christian Yelich's knee contusion had not improved enough for him to get back on the field, so the Marlins placed him on the 15-day DL and recalled Ozuna in a corresponding move. Ozuna has spent the last month at Triple-A New Orleans after a .249/.301/.337 slash line with 74 strikeouts in 297 at-bats led to a demotion from the Marlins. He seems to have found his swing while in the minors, however, as he's posted a .310/.394/.552 slash line with 10 doubles and three home runs over his last 87 at-bats.
Aug 8 2015Ozuna exited Saturday's game with Triple-A New Orleans early due to a sprained left wrist, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.Ozuna struggled in his time with the Marlins this season, but has picked it up a bit after moving back to Triple-A New Orleans. Jul 5 2015Ozuna was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Sunday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.Ozuna has really struggled at the dish recently, going 0-for-3 again Sunday to cap off a 1-for-32 stretch over the last 10 contests. The move is a bit surprising with Giancarlo Stanton currently on the disabled list, but it appears the Marlins are comfortable using the combination of Chrsitian Yelich, Ichiro Suzuki and Cole Gillespie as the primary outfielders until Stanton returns. Ozuna will return to the minors, where he'll look to straighten himself out at the plate to rejoin the club.
Jun 24 2015Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a double and one run scored during Tuesday's loss to the Cardinals.Despite some underwhelming power totals (18 extra-base hits in 69 games), Ozuna is hitting a healthy .284 over the last 30 days. It's not quite what the Marlins had imagined from the 24-year-old coming off of a 23-homer, 86-RBI breakout season in 2014, but he'll continue to bat in an RBI-friendly lineup position for the foreseeable future.
Jun 20 2015Ozuna went 2-for-3 with a walk in Friday's loss to the Reds. The Marlins were shut down by Mike Leake and the Cincinnati bullpen Friday, as Ozuna was the only player to reach base multiple times. With just four home runs on the season, Ozuna's power output has been a disappointment thus far and, despite a decent .281 average, Ozuna's 26 RBI and 26 runs scored over 66 games represent fairly underwhelming totals for a player who's stock has been steadily rising over the past two seasons. He's got a 51.8% ground ball rate, making it difficult to imagine the power numbers rebounding anytime soon.
Jun 15 2015Ozuna is out of the lineup Monday against the Yankees, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.Ozuna hasn't collected a hit in either of the past two games, and will receive what appears to be a conveniently scheduled day off Monday. While the 24-year-old has trimmed more than six percent off his strikeout rate from a year ago and is walking a bit more, his HR/FB rate is less than half what it was last season.
May 31 2015Ozuna is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mets.Ozuna has made 11 straight starts in center field for the Marlins, but will take a seat in favor of Ichiro Suzuki for the afternoon contest. The 24-year-old Ozuna is 3-for-21 with just one extra-base hit in his last five games, so perhaps a day on the bench will help him right the ship.
May 21 2015Ozuna went 1-for-4 batting out of the two-hole in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.New Manger Dan Jennings decided to shuffle up the lineup a bit in the hopes of jump-starting the team's scuffling offense, moving Ozuna up to second and dropping Martin Prado to the cleanup spot. Though the Marlins continued to struggle and dropped their sixth straight game Wednesday, both Ozuna and Prado got hits, and will remain in their respective positions for Thursday's matinee. After he opened the season batting sixth, a jump to the top of the order will be welcome news for Ozuna's fantasy owners.
May 21 2015Ozuna went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs in Thursday's loss to Arizona. He's been hitting second for the last two games, going 3-for-9 in that span, but you can't make any grand pronouncements from a sample that small. With four extra base hits in his last two games, it appears Ozuna is beginning to find his power stroke.
Apr 29 2015Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored batting out of the cleanup spot in Tuesday's win over the Mets. After opening the season in the sixth spot in the Marlins lineup, injuries and performance have helped Ozuna ascend into a prime lineup position, batting directly behind Giancarlo Stanton. Ozuna's power has yet to flash in 2015 and he's averaging over a strikeout per game, but the 24-year-old is also showing ability to get on base, posting a .351 on-base percentage over his first 19 games. He's batting a cool .343 (12-for-35) over his past 10 contest and after slugging 23 home runs and 26 doubles in 2014, it is only just a matter of time before the extra-base hits begin to pile up.

However, his power outage continues, and he's struck out so much -- 18 times in 50 at-bats -- that it's hard to imagine Ozuna maintaining a high batting average.
Apr 17 2015Ozuna is out of the lineup Friday against the Mets, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.Ozuna is hitless with six strikeouts in his last three games, so manager Mike Redmond will sit him down give Ichiro Suzuki a start in center field against right-hander Bartolo Colon. It marks Ozuna's second time out of the lineup in six days, as he also sat Sunday after a late arrival to the ballpark, but he should have plenty of opportunities to get back on track.
Apr 12 2015Ozuna was late to the game and will not start Sunday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.Ozuna will probably see some late game action, since the Marlins likely wouldn't trust his replcement, Ichiro Suzuki, to play an adequate center field in a close game. This really isn't anything significant long-term, even discipline wise, because the reason Ozuna was late was because Miami took unexpected batting practice that he wasn't aware of.
Apr 6 2015Ozuna knocked a pair of singles in three at-bats during Monday's Opening Day loss to the Braves.Ozuna batted out of the sixth position in the lineup against right-hander Julio Teheran and got off to a nice start to the season. Feb 23 2015Ozuna (ankle) has recovered from the injury that prematurely ended his season in September, the Marlins' official site reports. The injury was diagnosed as a sprain at the time, and there is no indication that the ailment limited Ozuna during the offseason. The young Enrique Hernandez is one candidate to see additional reps in the outfield while Ozuna is on the shelf.

He's slumped lately, batting just .244 (10-for-41) with two home runs in his past ten games, but has put together a strong sophomore season with a .263/.316/.454 over 151 games. Despite the 12 long balls, this was just his second in 11 games, so owners would love it if he could catch fire again in the second half of June.
Jun 5 2014Ozuna had a huge day at the dish Thursday, going 3-for-5 with a homer, four RBI and three runs against the Rays.Ozuna's surprisingly been among the National League's more productive bats, with 11 homers and 39 RBI on the year. The power is very real, though he's not a good bet to hit for high average due to his free-swinging ways.
Jun 1 2014Ozuna went 2-for-3 and popped his 10th homer of the season in Sunday's loss to the Braves.Ozuna finished May with a meager .200 batting average, but the power has remained fairly consistent throughout the campaign for the outfielder. His 10 homers and 35 RBI rank second on the team to only Giancarlo Stanton.
May 25 2014Ozuna launched his ninth home run of the season Sunday, going 2-for-3 in the loss to Milwaukee.Ozuna has been solid for his fantasy owners this season, driving in 31 and hitting nine home runs so far this season.
May 22 2014Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a homer for the second straight game Thursday against Philadelphia, this time driving in two runs and again scoring two. That's eight hits, two homers and seven RBI for Ozuna in the last two games, so the Phillies have to be happy to see this series come to an end. The offensive surge comes at a big time for Ozuna, who'd been sufferering through an extended May slump. His average sat at .310 at the end of April, but had dipped all the way down to .248 before these last two games.
May 21 2014Ozuna went 2-for-5 with a grand slam, five RBI and two runs scored in the Marlins' win over the Phillies on Wednesday.A slump in May has bumped Ozuna down in the batting order (he was in the No. 8 spot Wednesday), but he's currently on pace for a 24-homer campaign if he can find a way to avoid prolonged slumps and sustain steady playing time. Ozuna still has a lot of swing-and-miss in his game, as he's struck out 43 times in 161 at-bats this season.
May 16 2014Ozuna is out of the lineup again Friday, Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.Ozuna, who's batting just .149 this month (7-for-47), will park it for a third straight day and for the fourth time in six games. Manager Mike Redmond seems to be riding the hot hand of Reed Johnson (with Christian Yelich moving to center), but Ozuna will need to make the most of his opportunities moving forward to remain a regular part of the lineup.
May 15 2014Ozuna is not in the lineup Thursday against the Giants, Juan C. Rodriguez of the Miami Sun Sentinel reports.Ozuna has now been held out of the starting lineup for two straight games, but he did replace Giancarlo Stanton in Wednesday night's contest, so there doesn't appear to be an injury in play here. Reed Johnson will take over in left field, while Christian Yelich slides over to center. Ozuna is hitting just .149 in the month of May, which could have played into the decision to sit him once again.
May 14 2014Ozuna is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.Reed Johnson will play left field and Christian Yelich will man center field in Ozuna's absence. Look for him to contribute as a pinch hitter should the opportunity arise Wednesday.
May 14 2014Ozuna went 1-for-3 and plated the Marlins' lone run in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers. It has been an up-and-down ride for Ozuna this season who has batted .156/.149/.289 in May after posting a .310 batting average with three home runs and 15 RBI in April. Though it appears that his playing time in center field is safe for now, it's hard to rule out the chance that Reed Johnson could see a some additional opportunities while he's swinging the bat well and Ozuna is scuffling.
May 11 2014Ozuna is not in the lineup Sunday against the Padres, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.Ozuna has started all but two games for the Marlins in center field, so will get a day of rest Sunday, with Christian Yelich moving over to center and Reed Johnson manning left. A .135 May average certainly calls for a day off, but Ozuna should be available to pinch hit if needed.
May 10 2014Ozuna went 1-for-3 on the night against the Padres as he hit his sixth HR on the season. It was nice to see Ozuna get a homerun after really struggling of late, going 5-for-33 before his sixth blast on the year. Ozuna will need to build consistency with the bat moving forward.
May 5 2014Ozuna is not in the lineup Monday against the Mets, Manny Navarro of the Miami Herald reports. After starting 17 straight games, Ozuna will finally get a night off, as manager Mike Redmond brings Reed Johnson into the lineup in his place. Ozuna has netted great value for those who drafted him as an end-game selection, batting .280 with five homers and 19 RBI on the young campaign.
May 3 2014Ozuna went 2-for-6 with a three-run homer in Saturday's extra-inning loss to the Dodgers. It was his fifth homer of the season.Ozuna showed a lot of power in the minors, but surprisingly hit just three long balls in 70 games for the Marlins in 2013. Ozuna batted second for most of the season, but he's been hitting anywhere between fifth in seventh in the order over the last five games. If that continues, expect Ozuna to have many opportunities to drive in runs, with Giancarlo Stanton hitting ahead of him.
Apr 30 2014Ozuna went 2-for-4 with three RBI and his fourth homer of the season in Wednesday's victory over the Braves.Ozuna has compiled a strong March/April, posting a .310 batting average with 16 RBI and 15 runs scored. He already has surpassed the three home runs he totaled over 275 at-bats in 2013, and appears to be well on his way to a breakout season.
Apr 19 2014Ozuna went 2-for-4 with his third homer of the season and four RBI in Saturday's 7-0 shutout of the Mariners. The outfielder has now hit safely in 15-of-17 games this season and has been consistently locked in at the plate, as evidenced by his .343 average and 23 hits. Those looking to improve their contact numbers as the first month of the season winds down should give the 23-year-old a serious look.
Apr 15 2014Ozuna went 4-for-5 with three runs and one RBI Tuesday against the Nationals. After getting the day off Monday to rest a minor foot injury, Ozuna is clearly feeling pretty good, especially after his big night at the plate against Stephen Strasburg and company.
Apr 15 2014Ozuna (foot) is back in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Nationals. After fouling a pitch off of his foot during his first at-bat in Sunday's game against the Phillies, Ozuna appears to be OK following a day to rest the minor injury Monday. Ozuna is batting second for manager Mike Redmond on Tuesday night.
Apr 14 2014Ozuna is not in the lineup Monday against the Nationals, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.Ozuna, who has started the Marlins' first 13 games, will take a seat, as Christian Yelich will move over to center with Reed Johnson in left. Nothing has been reported to suggest an injury is in play, so chalk this one up to a day of rest.
Apr 14 2014Updating a previous report, Ozuna is out of the lineup because he fouled a ball off the top of his left foot Sunday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.Ozuna will give way to Reed Johnson for the first time of the season Monday night, and it appears that something more than a regular day of rest is in play, as he was seen on crutches Sunday night. While this is a scary sign, there hasn't yet been rumblings of a DL stint, although Ozuna could potentially miss a few more days. Reed Johnson and Jeff Baker are both candidates to see a bit more playing time if this is the case.
Apr 10 2014Ozuna's solo homer off Stephen Strasburg was the only damage the Marlins were able to do against the Nats on Thursday. It was also Ozuna's only hit of the day, and he struck out twice. All in all, he continues to swing the bat well in the early going, having hit safely in nine of the Marlins' first 10 games.
Apr 3 2014Ozuna went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run in Thursday's win over Colorado, pushing his season-opening hitting streak to four games.Ozuna's off to a fine start to the year, with seven hits in these four contests. Still, his fantasy value stems from his power potential -- Ozuna's got the pop to crank 20-plus homers, but could have a tough time doing so while playing half his games in expansive Marlins Park.
Apr 1 2014Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and three runs scored in the Marlins' rout of the Rockies on Monday night. The blast came against Rockies starter Jorge de la Rosa, while the Marlins used Ozuna as their No. 7 hitter Monday night. Ozuna possesses a significant amount of raw power, and could push his way up in the batting order if he produces more consistently in his second spin against big league pitching this season.
Mar 27 2014Ozuna has won the Marlins' starting center field job, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.Jake Marisnick was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Thursday morning, which means Ozuna is the choice to begin the year in center. Ozuna got off to a terrible start this spring, and while he's turned it on a bit lately, he's still batting just .164/.284/.364. The 23-year-old did hit .265 in 70 games last season, but the trademark power he displayed in the minors was not there (three home runs).
Mar 26 2014Ozuna is making a late roster push and is the front-runner in the competition to be the Marlins' center fielder on Opening Day, according to MLB.com.Entering spring as the prohibitive favorite in the battle for playing time, Ozuna nearly swung (and missed) his way out of the team's plans with a pitiful start to the exhibition season. He's come on of late, however, while fighting through a minor leg injury and appears to have regained some traction in the competition. If Ozuna earns the job, Jake Marisnick, who has had a monster spring, will be head to Triple-A New Orleans while Christian Yelich shifts back to left field.
Mar 24 2014Ozuna (left leg cramp) is working out with the team on Monday and is expected to return to game action Tuesday, MLB.com reports. He was removed early from Sunday's contest with the injury, but it appears to be a minor setback. Ozuna homered over the weekend but is still batting just .174/.310/.391 this spring while fighting for a starting job on Opening Day. If he fails to turn things around this week, the Marlins could either turn to Jake Marisnick or some sort of time-share with veterans Reed Johnson, Jeff Baker and Brian Bogusevic picking up the extra at-bats.
Mar 23 2014Ozuna was removed from Sunday's exhibition with a left leg cramp, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. While the injury doesn't sound especially serious, Ozuna's spot on the roster appeared in jeopardy as a result of his slow spring (.182 average, 14 strikeouts) and this certainly won't help his cause. Manager Mike Redmond did tell the Palm Beach Post last week that he was expecting Ozuna to be in the lineup on Opening Day, but Jake Marisnick is an option, and the team could move Christian Yelich over to center and platoon Brian Bogusevic and Reed Johnson in left if neither Ozuna nor Marisnick earn the job.
Mar 18 2014Ozuna is hitting just .135 (5-for-37) this spring and there's a chance both he and Jake Marisnick could begin the season in Triple-A, MLB.com reports. In that scenario, Christian Yelich would move to center field with Brian Bogusevic and Reed Johnson possibly platooning in left field. A strong final week could still see Ozuna win the center field job, but don't draft him and automatically assume he'll be on the Opening Day roster.
Mar 3 2014Ozuna (thumb) went 0-for-3 with a walk and three strikeouts in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals.Ozuna ended last season on the disabled list with a fractured thumb and needed surgery to repair the injury. It wasn't a bad rookie season as he hit .265/.303/.389 with just three home runs, but the power is expected to develop for the youngster. He remains the favorite to start in center field Opening Day for the Marlins.
Dec 28 2013Ozuna (thumb) is the favorite to open 2014 as the Marlins' starting center fielder, the team's official website reports. After exercising patience through Ozuna's first four professional seasons, Miami called up the young center fielder in April of 2013. At the time, he had yet to reach the Triple-A level and had just 47 Double-A plate appearances to his name. All things considered, Ozuna acquitted himself reasonably well, finishing with a .265/.303/.389 slash line over 291 plate appearances. His three home runs were a bit disappointing, as he hit 20-plus home runs in the minors each year from 2010-12. It won't be surprising, if he finds his power stroke in 2014, though first he'll need to secure a spot on the roster. Further seasoning in the minors probably wouldn't be a bad idea, but it sounds as if the Marlins want Ozuna to open the season in center field. As for the thumb injury injury that ended his 2013 season prematurely, he's expected to be fine for spring training.
Oct 31 2013Ozuna (thumb) was reinstated from the 60-day DL on Thursday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.Thumb surgery in August ended Ozuna's 2013 season prematurely, but he's expected to be ready for spring training. The 22-year-old hit .265/.303/.389 with three homers, 32 RBI and five steals in 70 games with the big club before going down.
Aug 19 2013Ozuna (thumb) was transferred to the 60-day DL Monday, the Florida Sun Sentinel reports.Ozuna underwent thumb surgery in late July and was shut down for the remainder of the season. While the move to end his season was announced several weeks ago, placing him on the 60-day DL after August 1 officially ensures he's unable to return to the active roster until 2014.
Jul 26 2013Ozuna (thumb) underwent successful surgery Friday and will miss the remainder of the season, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. His recovery is expected to take six-to-eight weeks, but instead of pushing to get the 22-year-old on the field again this year, the Marlins will hold Ozuna out so he's 100 percent for the start of next season. Ozuna hit .265/.303/.389 with three homers, 32 RBI and five steals in 70 games for Miami before suffering an avulsion fracture and ligament tear in his thumb Monday.
Jul 25 2013Ozuna (thumb) was placed on the 15-day DL (retroactive to July 23) with an avulsion fracture and ligament tear in his left thumb, the Sun Sentinel reports.Ozuna jammed his thumb in Monday's contest and was optioned to Double-A Jacksonville after the game. However, since he suffered the injury playing for the Marlins, he'll be placed on the major league DL. Ozuna met with a hand specialist Wednesday who determined the outfielder will need surgery. He's scheduled to go under the knife Friday, and no timetable has been established for his return.
Jul 24 2013Ozuna (thumb) will likely be placed on the 15-day DL, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.A visit with a hand specialist confirmed Ozuna was suffering from a torn ligament in his left thumb, and because the injury occurred while he was in the big leagues, Ozuna will land on the 15-day DL rather than Double-A Jacksonville's 7-day DL. Assuming the thumb heals in a timely manner, Ozuna could return to the Marlins as a September call-up.
Jul 23 2013Ozuna (thumb) will see a hand specialist in Miami on Wednesday, MLB.com reports.Ozuna, who was recently optioned to Double-A Jacksonville, jammed his thumb on Monday and it's apparently serious enough to warrant a visit to a specialist. More information will be available Wednesday, but consider him day-to-day for now.
Jul 22 2013Ozuna was optioned to Double-A Jacksonville after Monday's game.Ozuna was swinging a hot bat initially upon his promotion to the majors, but he cooled off in June and was batting just .161 with three extra-base hits this month. The Marlins will give the 22-year-old some time in the minors to get his confidence back, with Christian Yelich on his way up to take over in center.
Jul 4 2013Ozuna went 3-for-5 with a homer, pair of RBI and stolen base in Thursday's win at Atlanta.Ozuna has hit only three home runs this year, but he's been productive nonetheless. The young outfielder has a lot of upside, and one can only assume that the power will come as he gains more experience at the plate.
Jun 30 2013Ozuna was 2-for-4 with two runs scored in Miami's victory Sunday.Marcell bumped his average up to an even .300 with the two-hit effort and is now working on a nice little nine-game hitting streak. He's batting .382 with five runs scored, nine RBI, one home run and a stolen base over that span. While the power has been limited during his first trip around the majors, there is a lot to like about 25 runs scored and 26 RBI through 53 games this year.
Jun 25 2013Ozuna plated a pair of runs while going 2-for-4 with a double as the Marlins topped the Twins on Tuesday.Ozuna has been on a nice little run of late, piling up eight hits in his last 18 at-bats, including three doubles and a home run. The rookie has shown some signs of slowing down, but still maintains a solid .298/.333/.435 slash line on the year. Still, while Ozuna did not strike out in either of his past two games, he owns a pretty poor 17:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio in the month of June and even with his mini hot-streak, it's tough to imagine his batting average hovering around .300 for much longer.
Jun 23 2013Ozuna knocked his second home run of the season Sunday and also tallied an RBI double in a 7-2 win over the Giants. After three consecutive 20-homer seasons in the minors, Ozuna has yet to flash a power stroke with just the two home runs over 183 at-bats with the Marlins. Still, he has found other ways to provide value during his rookie campaign, batting .290/.326/.404 in 47 games so far. Mired in a nasty slump of late, the solid afternoon snapped a 5-for-33 stretch for Ozuna and, hopefully, he'll begin to hit with a bit more authority moving forward.
Jun 20 2013Ozuna is not in the starting lineup Thursday against the Giants, the Palm Beach Post's Joe Capozzi reports.Ozuna is just 2-for-31 at the plate over his last eight games, so it isn't surprising to see him on the bench for the second time in the last five days. Juan Pierre, Justin Ruggiano, and Giancarlo Stanton are starting in the outfield Thursday night.
Jun 20 2013Ozuna had a pinch-hit two-run single to give the Marlins the lead in a 2-1 victory over the Giants on Thursday.Ozuna did not start the game as he had been in a slump at the plate. He had the big hit off Giants' reliever Jeremy Affeldt in the eighth inning to turn the game around for the Marlins.
Jun 16 2013Ozuna is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Cardinals, the Palm Beach Post reports.Ozuna has batted just 1-for-20 over his last five starts, so consider his absence from the lineup a mental break more than anything. He's seen his batting average fall from .331 to .296 during the drought at the plate.
Jun 10 2013Ozuna is starting in center field and batting fourth for the Marlins on Monday.Regular right fielder Giancarlo Stanton will return Monday and bat in front of Ozuna as the rookie slides over to center field to accommodate the returning slugger. Ozuna has earned the nod in center with a sizzling .331/.371/.472 start to his career in 152 plate appearances. Justin Ruggiano is the odd man out and, even with Chris Coghlan (calf) on the DL, the Marlins have decided to roll with the youth in their everyday lineup. Ozuna's success story has been a welcome one for the Marlins, but it would be risky to bank on him maintaining his success over the rest of the season. The 22-year-old Ozuna has a poor 8:32 BB:K ratio and is currently benefiting from a sky-high .422 BABIP.
Jun 9 2013Manager Mike Redmond said Ozuna would likely be used in center field when Giancarlo Stanton returns from the DL, possibly as early as Monday, the Palm Beach Post reports. With center fielder Chris Coghlan on the DL and his replacement (Justin Ruggiano) failing to produce this season, Ozuna will receive an extended run of playing time in center to provide the Marlins with their most optimal offense. Despite making the leap from Double-A Jacksonville to the majors, Ozuna has batted .328/.370/.467 over 137 at-bats for the big club.
Jun 4 2013Ozuna ripped a pair of doubles in four at-bats during Tuesday's loss to the Phillies. The rookie is batting a sizzling .432 over his last 10 contests picking up five multi-hit efforts over that span. He's yet to get the home run stroke going after blasting 24 home runs in 489 minor league at-bats last season, but Ozuna is beginning to pile up the extra-base hits with four doubles and a triple over his past five games.
Jun 2 2013Ozuna kept it rolling at the plate Sunday, driving in four runs while going 3-for-5 during a win over the Mets to extend his hitting streak to 17 games.Ozuna's two-run triple in the first inning off of Mets' starter Matt Harvey got things rolling for Miami who recorded their first series sweep of the season. Ozuna continues to put together an impressive run at the plate, raising his average up to a cool .333 in 117 at-bats this year after the three-hit effort.
Jun 1 2013Ozuna extended his hitting streak to 16 games with a three-hit night during Friday's 5-1 victory over the Mets. The rookie outfielder has is batting .356 (21-for-56) over the streak while pushing his season line to .330/.371/.459 over 109 at-bats. Surprisingly, has just one home runs so far, to go along with three steals, not exactly what was expected by a guy who batted .266 with 24 home runs in 129 minor league games last season. Ozuna strikes out a bit too often (25 Ks in 29 games with just 7 walks) to supports such a lofty batting average, but he's been impressive during his first taste of the big leagues and has made a compelling case to remain on the roster even after Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) is ready to return.
May 29 2013Ozuna scored three runs and drew a walk during a 2-for-3 effort Tuesday versus the Rays. The multi-hit effort represented the rookie's second such game in the last three days and Marcell is currently working a league-best 13-game hitting streak. It's become time for Juan Pierre, Justin Ruggiano and Chris Coghlan should start to worry about Ozuna's role moving forward as the Marlins would be foolish to push this steady bat out of their lineup when Giancarlo Stanton returns. Through his first 26 major league games, Ozuna has posted a .316/.362/.449 slash line with a poor-but-not-horrific 7:23 walk-to-strikeout ratio.
May 26 2013Ozuna picked up a pair of singles while going 2-for-4 with one runs and one RBI in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the White Sox.Ozuna quietly continues to impress during his first taste of the majors, working an 11-game hitting streak during which he is batting .309 (13-for-42). Marcell has not homered since May 4 and it is a bit hard to believe that his average will stay above .300 for long, given that he's struck out 22 times in 24 major league games with just four walks. Still, the Marlins can use every ounce of offense they can get and Ozuna is currently making a compelling case to stick in the big leagues even after Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) is fit to return.
May 22 2013Ozuna went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts during Tuesday's 7-3 loss to the Phillies. The rookie has cooled a bit since his hot and with 17 strikeouts against just four walks in his first 20 major league games, is showing he's still a bit raw at the dish. Oddly, Ozuna is batting 11-for-24 (.458) versus Philadelphia and is just 12-for-49 (.244) against all other opponents. Marcell has not homered in his last 10 games and with just one run scored and four RBI over that span, he'll need to find that power stoke soon if he expects to stick on the roster once Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) is ready to return.
May 7 2013Ozuna pounded out two more hits and drove in the Marlins' only run during Tuesday's loss to the Padres. The legend of Ozuna continues to grow. The rookie outfielder saw his career-opening six-game hitting streak come to an end on Monday, but wasted no time getting back in the groove. During his debut campaign, Ozuna is batting .419 with a home run and five RBI through seven games.
May 5 2013Ozuna went 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's romp over the Phillies.Ozuna had two doubles, both of which were close to going out of the park. He's off to a terrific start since his callup to replace the injured Giancarlo Stanton, but he's not guaranteed a roster spot once Stanton returns. The Marlins have demonstrated that they're not afraid of giving prospects the playing time once those prospects have demonstrated that they're ready, but will they be willing to bench Juan Pierre or Justin Ruggiano in May for him? And the other concern is the defensive arrangement - can Ozuna play center, or will the Marlins go with some sort of platoon between Pierre and Ruggiano in center to accommodate Ozuna?
Apr 30 2013Ozuna made his major league debut Tuesday and went 1-for-3 with a strikeout against the Mets.Ozuna batted sixth in the order, and will be called upon to play right field for at least the next two weeks, as long as he remains serviceable, with Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) on the 15-day DL. He has limited experience in the upper levels of the minor leagues, but he had already belted five home runs in just 42 at-bats at Double-A Jacksonville before getting the call up to the big leagues.
Apr 30 2013Ozuna will make his major league debut Tuesday, starting in right field in place of the Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring).Ozuna will bat sixth in the order against the Mets and starting pitcher Jeremy Hefner. The 22-year-old has very limited experience at the upper levels of the minor leagues. In just 10 games at Double-A Jacksonville this season, though, Ozuna hit .333 with five home runs and 15 RBI.
Apr 29 2013Ozuna was recalled by the Marlins following Monday's game, MLB.com's Joe Frisario reports.Ozuna has been on fire down on the farm registering a .333/.383/.810 slash line with five home runs and 15 RBI through 10 games for Double-A Jacksonville. His promotion comes out of necessity more than anything, with Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) and Joe Mahoney (hamstring) both landing on the disabled list. It remains to be seen just how much time he will see in the lineup, but the power is absolutely legit.
Apr 18 2013Ozuna (wrist) has resumed playing, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.Ozuna has played two games for High-A Jupiter, but he is expected to rejoin Double-A Jacksonsville soon. Ozuna, one of the Marlins' top prospects, is coming off a season in which he posted an .805 OPS and clubbed 24 home runs.
