May 31 2025The Rockies designated Schunk for assignment Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The move corresponds with the Rockies selecting Keston Hiura's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque while optioning Michael Toglia to Triple-A. Schunk saw regular work with the Rockies in late April before landing on the 10-day injured list due to a groin injury. He made 11 major-league appearances for Colorado and went 6-for-28 with one double and a 27.6 percent strikeout rate over that span.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 27-year-old's demotion will create space on the big-league roster for the signing of veteran infielder Orlando Arcia. May 16 2025The Rockies reinstated Schunk (groin) from the injured list Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Schunk went 4-for-14 with a homer and two RBI in four games at Triple-A Albuquerque while working his way back from a groin strain he suffered in late April. The 27-year-old had been starting regularly at shortstop for Colorado before getting hurt, but he's now likely to come off the bench more often with Ezequiel Tovar (hip) also off the injured list.
May 12 2025Schunk (groin) made starts at third base and second base during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque over the weekend, going 2-for-7 with a home run and two RBI. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Schunk appears to be in a similar spot in his recovery from a left groin strain as Ezequiel Tovar (hip) and Tyler Freeman (oblique), both of whom also started in games with Albuquerque on Saturday and Sunday. Since both Schunk and Freeman are projected to handle utility roles once activated from the injured list, the Rockies could option one of the two players to the minors. Before landing on the IL on April 26, Schunk appeared in seven games for Colorado and hit .250 with one run over 21 plate appearances.
May 9 2025Schunk (groin) has resumed baseball activity, MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Schunk has been sidelined since April 26. He has resumed fielding and batting practice as well as baserunning drills, but a timeline for his return is still unclear.
