Jun 20 2025The White Sox placed Martin on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to June 17, due to a right forearm strain. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander was penciled in to start Friday against the Blue Jays, but he's instead landed on the IL. Martin will be eligible to return in early July, but it's unclear how long he's expected to be sidelined. Chicago has yet to announce a replacement starter for Friday's contest.
Jun 12 2025Martin (2-7) took the loss Thursday against the Astros after giving up four runs on six hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out five. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Martin continues to supply length for the White Sox, tossing at least six frames in his sixth start in a row. However, the long ball remains an issue for the 28-year-old right-hander, who has now served up at least one homer in four straight outings. Martin owns a quality 3.79 ERA and 1.21 WHIP but has just 53 punchouts through 80.2 innings, so his lack of strikeout potential will likely render him more of a deep-league streaming option versus the Cardinals his next time out.
Jun 6 2025Martin didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Royals after giving up two runs on five hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out seven. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Martin submitted a season-high seven punchouts, and he also whiffed 15 while turning in his fifth consecutive start of at least six frames. The right-hander is settling in as a serviceable member of Chicago's rotation in 2025, given he's now fired at least six innings while allowing two runs or fewer seven times among his 13 appearances. Martin's lack of strikeout upside may continue to limit his fantasy value, as he's averaging just 5.8 strikeouts per nine innings, but he owns a steady 3.62 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 48:17 K:BB through 74.2 innings ahead of his next scheduled start against the the Astros.
May 31 2025Martin (2-6) took the loss Saturday, giving up four runs on five hits and a walk over six innings as the White Sox fell 4-2 to the Orioles. He struck out three. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Four of the five hits off Martin went for extra bases, including homers by Jackson Holliday and Jorge Mateo. The right-hander saw his quality start streak end at three, but he's giving the White Sox consistent innings of late, and Saturday's outing was the first time he's served up multiple long balls since April 17. Martin will take a 3.67 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 41:17 K:BB through 68.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the Tigers.
May 25 2025Martin did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 5-4 loss against the Rangers, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts over six innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Martin surrendered a two-run homer in the second inning but was in line for the win until the Rangers mounted a ninth-inning comeback. The 28-year-old has now delivered three straight quality starts and has surrendered three earned runs or fewer in eight of 11 outings this season. He'll carry a 3.45 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 38:16 K:BB across 62.2 innings into a road matchup with the Orioles next weekend.
May 19 2025Martin (2-5) yielded two runs on four hits and a walk over 7.1 innings Monday, striking out three and taking a loss against Seattle. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Martin set a career high with 6.2 innings pitched in his last outing before setting a new career best with 7.1 frames Monday. He gave up one run through seven innings before Cam Booser gave up a grand slam to Julio Rodriguez after inheriting a runner from Martin. Over his last two starts, Martin has given up three runs, dropping his season ERA from 4.01 to 3.49 alongside a 36:13 K:BB through 56.2 innings. He's in line for a home start against Texas this weekend.
May 14 2025Martin (2-4) picked up the win in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over the Reds, allowing one run on seven hits and no walks across 6.2 innings. He struck out five. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Martin had allowed seven runs in 9.1 innings spanning his last two starts, a stretch that ballooned his ERA from 3.24 to 4.01. He bounced back Wednesday by exceeding six innings pitched for the first time all year and picking up his first win in six starts. He holds a 3.65 ERA and a 33:12 K:BB across 49.1 innings this season and is expected to take the mound again Monday against Seattle.
May 8 2025Martin (1-4) took the loss Thursday against the Royals, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk across 4.1 innings. He struck out two. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's the first time in four starts that Martin's allowed more than three earned runs -- he'd pitched to a 1.69 ERA in his previous three outings (16 innings). Overall, the 28-year-old Martin sports a 4.01 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 28:12 K:BB across 42.2 innings this year. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, tentatively scheduled for next week in Cincinnati.
May 3 2025Martin didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Astros, giving up three runs on eight hits over five innings. He struck out five without walking a batter. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The White Sox staked Martin to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but the 28-year-old righty let it slip away over the course of his 88 pitches (58 strikes). It's the first time this season he hasn't issued a walk in a start, and he hasn't served up a homer in three straight outings. Martin will take a 3.52 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 26:11 K:BB through 38.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week in Kansas City.
