Jun 26 2025Holmes (4-7) allowed two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out six over five innings to take the loss Thursday versus the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Holmes gave up a run in each of the fourth and fifth innings. It wasn't a bad performance from the right-hander, but Atlanta's offense mustered a pitiful three hits in the game, giving Holmes no support. He's allowed 11 runs (10 earned) across 25.2 innings in his five starts in June. Overall, he's at a 3.70 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 103:42 K:BB through 90 innings over 17 appearances (16 starts) this season. Holmes is lined up to face the Angels early next week, which could be a two-start week for him.
Jun 21 2025Holmes (4-6) earned the win against the Marlins on Saturday, allowing five hits and five walks with five strikeouts over 5.2 scoreless innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Holmes kept the Marlins off the board despite issuing a season-high five walks, with all 13 of his swinging strikes coming on the slider. While the 29-year-old has just two wins over his past 10 starts, he's allowed three earned runs or fewer in nine of those outings. He'll take a 3.71 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 97:39 K:BB across 85 innings into a road matchup with the Mets next week.
Jun 15 2025Holmes (3-6) took the loss Sunday against the Rockies, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out 15. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was a dominant performance from Holmes, whose 15 strikeouts were the most in a game for any pitcher this season. However, a Ryan McMahon leadoff homer in the seventh inning proved to be enough to stick Holmes with a hard-luck loss in an eventual 10-1 Atlanta defeat. The 29-year-old right-hander sports a 3.97 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP and an impressive 10.44 K/9 through 14 starts (79.1 innings) this season. Holmes currently lines up for a road matchup with the Marlins his next time out.
Jun 14 2025Holmes will start Sunday against the Rockies, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Chris Sale was originally scheduled to start, but Atlanta will push him back to its upcoming series against the Mets. Holmes will draw a more favorable matchup as a result, but he has a 5.65 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across his last 14.1 innings and three starts.
Jun 10 2025Holmes (3-5) took the loss Tuesday against Milwaukee after giving up three runs on five hits and three walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out nine. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was a mixed bag for Holmes, who fanned a season-high nine for the third time this year but allowed three runs while working fewer than six innings in his third straight start. The 29-year-old right-hander did generate a staggering 20 whiffs Tuesday, but three of his five hits allowed went for extra bases, and two of them left the yard. Holmes will take a 4.07 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 77:32 K:BB through 73 innings into his next scheduled outing versus the Mets, who are slugging a potent .456 against righties since May 1.
Jun 5 2025Holmes did not factor into the decision in Thursday's 11-10 loss to the Diamondbacks, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 3.1 innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Holmes faced the minimum through three innings but fell apart in the fourth, allowing three runs before being pulled at just 64 pitches. He generated nine whiffs but also surrendered five hard-hit balls in his shortest outing since debuting in a one-inning relief appearance March 27. The 29-year-old had completed at least five innings in nine straight starts, so this may have simply been a quick hook during a tough frame. He'll carry a 3.99 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 68:29 K:BB across 67.2 innings into a road matchup with the Brewers next week.
May 30 2025Holmes (3-4) took the loss Friday against Boston after allowing three runs on six hits and one walk in 5.2 innings. He struck out nine. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Holmes was aiming for his fourth consecutive quality start and sixth of the year, but an RBI double by Abraham Toro brought the hurler's night to a close in the sixth inning. Holmes did tie a season high in punchouts, and it was just the third time in his last eight outings that he gave up greater than two runs. The 29-year-old right-hander holds a dependable 3.78 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 64:27 K:BB over 64.1 innings ahead of a difficult task his next time out versus the Diamondbacks, who have a .799 OPS versus right-handed pitching through their first 56 games of the season.
May 24 2025Holmes (3-3) earned the win against the Padres on Saturday, allowing one run on six hits and one walk with six strikeouts over seven innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Holmes allowed a run in the third inning but was otherwise fantastic, tossing 65 of 94 pitches for strikes with 12 whiffs. The 29-year-old has now logged quality starts in four of five May outings, issuing just one walk three times in that span. He owns a 3.68 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 55:26 K:BB across 58.2 innings and lines up for a home matchup with the Red Sox next weekend.
May 17 2025Holmes allowed two runs on three hits and four walks while striking out five batters over six innings in a no-decision against Boston on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Holmes struggled with his control in the contest, throwing just 57 of 99 pitches for strikes and tying a season high with four free passes, but he mostly managed to limit the damage. The only runs against the right-hander came on a two-run blast by Jarren Duran in the third inning. Holmes finished with his second straight quality start and his third such effort in his past four outings. During that span, he's posted a 3.42 ERA along with a 23:8 K:BB across 23.2 frames. Despite the imminent return of Spencer Strider (hamstring), Holmes is set to remain in Atlanta's rotation, and his next start lines up to come at home against the Padres.
May 15 2025Holmes will remain in Atlanta's rotation after Bryce Elder was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: There was some speculation by David O'Brien of The Athletic that Holmes could shift to the bullpen to accommodate the return of Spencer Strider (hamstring), but ultimately the club decided to stick with Holmes in the rotation and send Elder down. Holmes has been up and down this season as a starter, posting a 4.23 ERA and 42:21 K:BB over 44.2 frames covering eight starts, but he brings more upside to the rotation than Elder. The 29-year-old Holmes' next start will come Saturday in Boston.
May 12 2025Holmes allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out four over 6.1 innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Holmes faced the minimum number of batters through the first three innings and his only blemish came in the fourth frame, when he yielded a solo home run to James Wood. Holmes recorded nine groundouts while generating 11 whiffs on 79 pitches (49 strikes) en route to his third quality start of the season. He has a 4.17 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 44:21 K:BB across 45.1 innings, and he's lined up to face the Red Sox on the road this weekend.
May 7 2025Holmes (2-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Reds after allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk in 5.1 innings. He struck out five. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After setting a career high with nine punchouts in his last start, Holmes wasn't nearly as effective Wednesday. Although his one walk marked a season low among his seven starts, the right-hander surrendered a season-high seven hits and gave up greater than three runs for the third time this year. Holmes has also conceded six home runs over his past three outings. He'll take a pedestrian 4.58 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 40:20 K:BB across 39.1 innings in 2025 into his next scheduled start, currently set to come versus the Nationals next week.
May 2 2025Holmes (2-2) took the loss Friday against the Dodgers after allowing two runs on four hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out nine. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Holmes established a career high with nine punchouts, generating 15 whiffs against a fearsome Dodgers lineup. The right-hander's two walks also tied a season low among his six starts this year. Holmes has a middling 4.24 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 35:19 K:BB over 34 innings, but he's given up just three runs to go with a 22:10 K:BB across 15.2 frames at home this year. His favorable splits at Truist Park will be tested next week at home versus versus the Reds, who notably sport a .788 OPS through 16 games on the road in 2025.
