Jun 28 2025Meadows is not in the Tigers' starting lineup against the Twins on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows will take a seat while the returning Matt Vierling (shoulder) starts in center field and bats seventh. Meadows has struggled at the plate since making his 2025 debut in early June but has been better as of late, going 7-for-27 (.259) with five runs scored, one home run and four RBI over his last eight games.
Jun 26 2025Meadows went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in Thursday's 8-0 win over the Athletics. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows is slowly starting to get his bat going, as he now has a hit in six of his last seven games. This was his first multi-hit effort since his season debut back on June 2, and he's still batting just .191 overall, but Meadows should continue to see regular playing time as a plus defender in center field. If the 25-year-old can continue to make consistent contact, he has some power and speed potential that could be appealing to fantasy managers.
Jun 22 2025Meadows went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Rays ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows was bumped down in the batting order against righties recently due to some struggles at the plate, but he responded with a big home run Sunday, just his second of the season. While the 25-year-old is still batting only .172 with a .607 OPS, the Tigers seem committed to him in center field, largely due to his defensive abilities. Meadows remains inconsistent from a fantasy perspective, though he still has plenty of potential, as he's yet to reach 140 total games at the MLB level in his short career.
Jun 19 2025Meadows isn't in the lineup for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against Pittsburgh, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows will take the evening off after going 1-for-3 with a walk and scoring twice in Game 1. Zach McKinstry, Wenceel Perez and Kerry Carpenter will start across Detroit's outfield with Meadows on the bench.
Jun 12 2025Meadows went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows hit his first home run of the season in the fourth inning with two runners on, and it ended up being the difference in the contest. The young outfielder has now played 10 games since returning from the injured list and is batting just .171, though the team seems committed to letting him work off his rust. Meadows batted ninth Thursday as Baltimore opened with lefty Keegan Akin but will likely hit leadoff most days against righties, which boosts his fantasy ceiling.
Jun 11 2025Meadows is starting in center field and batting first in Wednesday's game against the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows slid down to No. 9 in the order Tuesday with Baltimore starting lefty Cade Povich, but he's back in the leadoff spot against righty Zach Eflin. The outfielder, who missed the first 60 games of the year while recovering from a nerve issue in his throwing arm, has gotten off to a bit of a slow start with a .185/.313/.296 slash line, though the Tigers seem committed to him as a fixture at the top of their lineup against righties.
Jun 5 2025Meadows is starting in center field and batting first in Thursday's game against the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows received a maintenance day Wednesday after making two straight starts following his return from the injured list, but he'll rejoin the lineup for the series finale. The 25-year-old went 2-for-8 with three walks, a double, a triple, a stolen base and three runs scored across his first two starts of the year, so he's already been able to make an impact for fantasy managers in a short amount of time.
Jun 4 2025Meadows is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows started both of the last two days upon his activation from the 60-day injured list, but he will begin Wednesday's contest on the bench as the White Sox send lefty opener Jared Shuster to the bump. The left-handed-hitting Meadows is unlikely to be used in a strict platoon, but manager A.J. Hinch will probably pick spots to rest the outfielder as he eases back into action. Javier Baez will man center field and bat eighth Wednesday.
Jun 2 2025Meadows went 2-for-4 with two walks, a double, a triple and three runs scored in Monday's 13-1 win over the White Sox. He also stole a base. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Making his 2025 debut for the Tigers after missing the first 60 games while recovering from a nerve issue in his throwing arm, Meadows jumped into the leadoff spot and appeared to be in midseason form. The 25-year-old outfielder will likely have some restrictions as the team eases him into action, but he could still be an impact player in fantasy leagues batting atop a Detroit lineup that has become quite formidable this year.
May 20 2025Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said on MLB Network Radio that Meadows (arm) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows has been ramping up his throwing lately as he works his way back from a nerve issue in his right arm, and he has been cleared to test things out in a game setting. The young outfielder didn't have a spring training, so the Tigers are likely to give him ample time on a rehab assignment to get sharp.
May 14 2025Meadows (arm) threw to bases from the outfield Wednesday and said afterward that he feels close to being ready for a rehab assignment, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows hasn't played in a game since late February as he recovers from a nerve issue in his right arm. Because his absence has been so long, his rehab assignment could last for close to the full 20-day window. Still, Meadows makes for a fine stash in fantasy leagues where he's available.
May 12 2025Meadows (upper arm) threw out to approximately 70 feet Monday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Per MLB.com, Meadows had already upped his throwing distance to 120 feet, though McCosky suggests Monday's throwing session was at a medium level of intensity, whereas his previous ones had been of lighter intensity. In addition to gradually ramping up his throwing program, Meadows has been taking batting practice off a pitching machine and has been involved in defensive drills, but the Tigers haven't indicated when he might be ready to embark on a rehab assignment. Meadows is on the 60-day injured list while he works his way back from right upper arm nerve discomfort and won't be eligible to make his 2025 debut until late May.
Apr 18 2025Meadows (arm) did some light throwing in the outfield Friday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was very light tossing from a short distance, but it's nonetheless a step forward for the outfielder. Meadows is coming back from a nerve issue in his right arm and will need to rebuild his arm strength. He's already on the 60-day injured list, making him ineligible to return until late May.
Apr 11 2025Meadows (arm) resumed his hitting program Friday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows has been able to participate in conditioning and fielding drills while working his way back from a nerve issue in his right arm, and he can now add hitting to that list as well. He still hasn't done any sort of throwing, but if manager A.J. Hinch's timeline from spring training remains accurate, the 25-year-old outfielder should be cleared to throw sometime next weekend.
Mar 24 2025The Tigers placed Meadows (arm) on the 60-day injured list Monday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With this move, Meadows now isn't eligible to return until late May. The 25-year-old outfielder is battling a nerve issue in his right arm and will require at least four more weeks of rest before he can begin throwing. Meadows going on the 60-day IL clears a 40-man roster spot for Manuel Margot, who was officially signed Monday. With Wenceel Perez (back) and Matt Vierling (shoulder) also out, the Tigers could use Ryan Kreidler in center field.
Mar 22 2025Manager A.J. Hinch said Saturday that Meadows (arm) will require at least four more weeks of rest before he can begin throwing, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows can continue participating in conditioning and fielding drills while he continues to work his way back from a nerve issue in his right arm, but it seems like it will be a bit before he can start throwing. Once given the green light to start throwing and hitting, a clearer timeline for his return to play may emerge.
Mar 18 2025The Tigers announced Tuesday that Meadows (upper arm) has been cleared to do conditioning and defensive drills, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The fact that Meadows isn't shut down from activity entirely while he contends with a nerve issue in his right arm is encouraging, but until he's able to start a hitting progression and resumes playing catch, his season debut shouldn't be considered imminent. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch already acknowledged last week that Meadows will open the season on the injured list, likely paving the way for Wenceel Perez to serve as the team's everyday center fielder.
Mar 14 2025Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Friday that Meadows (arm) will not be ready for Opening Day, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Hinch added that while Meadows is progressing steadily as he works his way back from a nerve issue in his right arm, there will not be enough time to ramp him back up by March 27. It seems Meadows' stint on the injured list could be a short one, but there's no firm timetable yet for when he'll be ready for his season debut. Wenceel Perez (back) is in line for increased playing time while Meadows and Matt Vierling (shoulder) are out, and Riley Greene could slide over to center field some days.
Mar 12 2025Meadows (arm) said Wednesday that he is making progress and is still optimistic about starting the season on time, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows has been sidelined with a nerve issue in his right arm and specified the problem is with the musculocutaneous nerve in particular, per Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press. The 25-year-old outfielder still seems to think he can make Opening Day, but with Wenceel Perez (back) also nursing an injury, the Tigers have been forced to work on a contingency plan in center field. Riley Greene is manning center Wednesday for the first time this spring.
Mar 7 2025Meadows (arm) has started doing light, modified baseball activities, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows is dealing with a nerve issue in his right arm and has to wait for the nerve to "wake up" before he's able to dive back into baseball activities full-bore. The Tigers are hopeful that he will be ready in time for Opening Day, but the young outfielder's timetable is a bit open-ended.
Mar 3 2025Meadows' timetable for a return from the nerve issue in his right arm remains uncertain, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dr. Brian Schulz, who is the Angels' team physician, did not examine Meadows personally, but when told of the outfielder's symptoms he immediately pointed to the musculocutaneous nerve as the likely affected nerve. Meadows and the Tigers have to wait for the nerve to "wake up," which Schulz says is "just as likely to come back within a week or two as it could be like six weeks." If it's closer to the latter timeline, Meadows would need some time to rebuild muscle in his biceps, further extending his recovery. The good news, Schulz notes, is that Meadows' nerve issue it not a permanent problem and will fix itself. The Tigers are hopeful that their center fielder will be ready to go on Opening Day, but it's a bit of a guessing game. The uncertain timetable makes Meadows a risky fantasy pick for those with drafts in the immediate future.
Mar 1 2025Meadows was diagnosed with a nerve issue in his right upper arm Saturday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows has been pulled off all baseball activities for now and is set to be re-evaluated in a few weeks. Manager A.J. Hinch said it's still too early to rule out the 25-year-old for Opening Day, though a stint on the IL to begin the season doesn't seem unrealistic.
Feb 25 2025Meadows is dealing with right upper-arm inflammation and will be re-evaluated for baseball activities later this week, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He underwent testing on his biceps Monday and inflammation is the official diagnosis on the injury report, so at least there isn't any structural damage. If cleared for baseball activities later this week, he would presumably start hitting and throwing before eventually getting into Grapefruit League games.
Feb 24 2025Meadows will undergo further testing on his injured biceps Monday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows tweaked his biceps Saturday. The Tigers do not appear overly concerned about the injury, but more will be known Tuesday when the test results are revealed. Regardless of the test results, Meadows is expected to receive a few days of rest.
Feb 23 2025Meadows tweaked his triceps Saturday, though the issue isn't seen as a serious concern, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows started in center field Saturday and went 0-for-2 before being lifted. The triceps injury occurred while he was making a throw, and manager A.J. Hinch said Sunday that the issue doesn't appear to be significantly worrisome. Meadows isn't in the lineup for Sunday's spring contest, though that wouldn't be unusual this early in spring play regardless of an injury concern.
Sep 25 2024Meadows went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows hit his ninth home run of the season to start things off in the bottom of the first inning, then continued to pace Detroit's offense the rest of the game. The young outfielder has been a big reason why Detroit is unexpectedly closing in on a playoff spot. Since the beginning of August, Meadows is batting .291 with six home runs, 23 RBI and 26 runs scored in 43 games while generally batting leadoff against righties.
Sep 17 2024Meadows went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 3-1, 10-inning win over the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows batted ninth with Kansas City starting lefty Cole Ragans, but he still managed to make a big impact, delivering a go-ahead RBI single in the top of the 10th inning. The young outfielder has rebounded in a big way from a tough start to the season. Meadows was batting .096 through 32 games when he was demoted to Triple-A Toledo in early May. In 40 games since getting called back up in July, he's batting .310.
Sep 15 2024Meadows went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows launched his eighth home run of the season in the ninth inning as the Tigers tried to climb out of a 4-0 hole. While that effort was unsuccessful, fantasy managers can still enjoy the recent production from the young outfielder. Meadows is sporting an .875 OPS in September with three long balls and 13 RBI across 12 games. He should continue to see ample opportunities to produce as Detroit fights for a playoff spot down the stretch.
Sep 10 2024Meadows went 2-for-3 with two walks, a solo home run, two additional runs scored and three total RBI in Tuesday's 11-0 win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows has been rolling lately, as he's batting .381 over his last five games with four extra-base hits and 12 RBI. The 24-year-old is starting to live up to his prospect pedigree, and while his season stat line might not reflect it, he's turning into a true fantasy contributor. Meadows should continue to pace Detroit's offense as a dynamic leadoff hitter.
Sep 9 2024Meadows went 2-for-5 with a walk, a double, a run scored and two RBI in Sunday's 9-1 win over the Athletics. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows delivered his third multi-hit effort in his last four contests, and he's batting .299 since the beginning of August. The 24-year-old has a nice mix of power and speed, but he struggled to make consistent enough contact early in his MLB career to really put his skills to use. It looks like Meadows is starting to turn a corner, and the Tigers should continue to reward him with regular playing time.
Sep 7 2024Meadows went 2-for-7 with a double, a run scored and two RBI in Friday's 7-6, extra-innings loss to the Athletics. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows now has consecutive multi-hit efforts as he continues to receive opportunities to pace Detroit's offense from the leadoff spot. The 24-year-old is batting an even .300 since the beginning of August with 14 extra-base hits and an .849 OPS. Meadows is locked in as a regular for the Tigers in center field, which should allow him to build on his recent success.
Sep 5 2024Meadows went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Detroit didn't score until the ninth inning, which was when Meadows launched his grand slam, giving the outfielder his sixth home run of the season. Since getting called back to the majors on Aug. 3 after some early-season struggles got him demoted, Meadows is batting .301 with three home runs, 12 RBI and 16 runs scored across 26 games. The youngster seems to be taking a step forward and could be poised for a 2025 breakout.
Aug 28 2024Meadows is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows appears to be getting a routine day off after he started in each of the last five games. Unless he's used off the bench, Meadows will put his six-game hitting streak on hold Wednesday while the Tigers roll out a starting outfield trio of Riley Greene, Matt Vierling and Kerry Carpenter from left to right.
Aug 26 2024Meadows went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-3 win over the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows made his only hit count, launching his fifth home run of the season and extending his hitting streak to five games. The 24-year-old has been locked in all month, as he's now batting .333 in August with 11 extra-base hits in 18 games. Meadows missed nearly a month with a strained right hamstring sustained in early July, but it looks like he's rounding into form lately.
Aug 22 2024Meadows is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows will join fellow left-handed batters Riley Greene, Trey Sweeney and Zach McKinstry on the bench while the Cubs send southpaw Justin Steele to the hill in the series finale. Matt Vierling will cover center field in place of Meadows, who has supplied a .949 OPS in 14 games since returning from the 10-day injured list Aug. 3.
Aug 21 2024Meadows went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows batted leadoff and paced the offense with a solid performance. This was his second three-hit effort over his last three games, and in his last 10 contests, the 24-year-old is batting .306. Meadows has had an uneven season, due in part to missing time with an injury, but he has the offensive talent to finish his campaign on a positive note.
Aug 19 2024Meadows went 3-for-5 with a double, a stolen base and an RBI in Sunday's win over the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows put together his first three-hit effort of the season and capped it with a walkoff base hit to win the game in the 10th for the Tigers. He's been super impactful since being activated from the injured list Aug. 3, slashing .348/.362/.565 with six extra-base hits, five RBI, seven runs, five steals and a 1:9 BB:K in 48 plate appearances. He has four steals over his last three starts and has at least a base hit in all but one start since returning to the lineup. For the year, Meadows is slashing .208/.285/.385 with four homers, 10 RBI, 18 runs, nine steals and a 13:43 BB:K in 144 plate appearances.
Aug 17 2024Meadows is absent from the lineup for Saturday's contest against the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Meadows will begin Saturday's contest in the dugout with New York sending southpaw Carlos Rodon to the mound. Matt Vierling will start in center field and bat in the leadoff spot.
Aug 11 2024Meadows went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows scored Detroit's lone run of the game in the top of the fifth inning after hitting his one-out triple. The outfielder has now played in five contests since returning from a hamstring injury, and he's gone 10-for-22 with four extra-base hits, four runs scored and four RBI. If Meadows can sustain his recent level of performance, he'll make a big fantasy impact during the stretch run.
Aug 9 2024Meadows is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Meadows will dodge a matchup with southpaw Robbie Ray on Friday as Wenceel Perez takes over in center field. Meadows is slashing .186/.278/.373 in 115 plate appearances with the Tigers this season.
Aug 7 2024Meadows went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Mariners. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows plated the first run of the ballgame with a two-out single in the fourth and then extended the lead with a solo blast in the eighth. He now has multiple hits in both of his starts since being activated off the injured list. It's a small sample, but Meadows has looked much more comfortable at the dish since returning, though it's possible manager A.J. Hinch eases him back into action with planned off days after Meadows missed about a month due to a strained hamstring. The 24-year-old is now slashing .161/.264/.455 with four homers, eight RBI, 13 runs, four steals and a 12:36 BB:K in 106 plate appearances.
Aug 4 2024Meadows is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows will retreat to the bench for the series finale after he came off the 10-day injured list and started in center field in Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning win over Kansas City. He played all 10 innings in the victory, going 2-for-5 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored. With Meadows reporting no setbacks with his hamstring coming out of Saturday's contest, he's most likely sitting Sunday in a pre-planned maintenance day coming off the injury. The youngster is still expected to be in store for regular starts in center field now that he's healthy again.
Aug 3 2024Meadows (hamstring) was activated off the injured list Saturday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows has been out since early July due to a strained right hamstring. He appeared in four rehab games earlier this week, going 3-for-14 with one double, one RBI and two walks. Across his 35 major-league games this season, Meadows is slashing .131/.247/.286 with four stolen bases, three home runs and five RBI in 97 plate appearances. He's starting in center field and batting seventh against the Royals on Saturday, per Chris McCosky of The Detroit News.
Aug 1 2024Meadows (hamstring) is likely to be activated from the 10-day injured list at some point this weekend, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Tigers open a four-game series against the Royals at home on Thursday. Meadows has been out since early July with a strained right hamstring but has played three rehab games with Triple-A Toledo, including back-to-back contests Tuesday and Wednesday. He's played the field in just one of those games, so perhaps the Tigers would like him to get a little more work in defensively before activating him, but his return does appear to be imminent. When he is activated, Meadows will resume his role as Detroit's regular center fielder.
Jul 28 2024Meadows (hamstring) will begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows is ready for game action again after he landed on the 10-day injured list July 8 due to a right hamstring strain. He'll serve as the designated hitter for Toledo on Sunday, and then play center field Tuesday following the Triple-A club's team off day Monday, per Jason Beck of MLB.com. If Meadows checks out fine after the two rehab games, he could be ready to rejoin the Tigers as soon as next weekend for the club's four-game series with the Royals.
Jul 26 2024Meadows (hamstring) is expected to begin a rehab assignment soon, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows was cleared to run the bases Wednesday and didn't have any issues, so he will continue his progression with more running Saturday. It's possible he'll be ready to play in rehab games after that. Meadows has been shelved for most of July with a right hamstring strain but could be tracking toward a return in early August.
Jul 23 2024Meadows (hamstring) will run the bases Wednesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's a big step for Meadows as he works his way back from a right hamstring strain, an injury he suffered just over two weeks ago. If things go well, he should be ready for a rehab assignment soon, with a return by early August feasible.
Jul 8 2024The Tigers placed Meadows on the 10-day injured list Monday with a right hamstring strain. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The timing is unfortunate for Meadows, who had just been recalled from Triple-A Toledo and went 4-for-11 with one home run and one stolen base in three games since rejoining the big club. He will be eligible for activation following the All-Star break, but it's too soon to know whether he'll have a chance to be back at that time.
Jul 7 2024Meadows's hamstring injury is likely to place him on the 10-day IL, Evan Petzold of The Detroit Free Press reports. "I don't love what I heard from the get-go in talking to him and our trainers," manager A.J. Hinch said. "We'll get him evaluated. It's something with the hamstring. That's always alarming." ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows was likely to be a significant free agent target this weekend, but this news certainly will chill pending bids, especially in leagues where there are no IL slots.
Jul 6 2024Meadows went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-4 win over the Reds. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Making his first MLB appearance since May 6, Meadows promptly blasted his third home run of the season. The 24-year-old struggled in his first stint with the Tigers this year, batting just .096 across 32 games before getting demoted. The team is hoping his time in the minors corrected some issues, and Meadows should get plenty of opportunities in center field moving forward, particularly due to his strong defense. If he can get his bat going, Meadows could develop into a fantasy asset down the stretch.
Jul 5 2024The Tigers recalled Meadows from Triple-A Toledo on Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows was the Tigers' Opening Day center fielder but was sent down in early May after going just 7-for-73 at the plate. He got on track at Toledo to earn another chance, producing a .298/.394/.511 batting line with eight home runs and 19 stolen bases. Meadows also struck out at just a 19 percent rate with Toledo after he had fanned at a 37.7 percent clip earlier this year with the Tigers. He should operate as Detroit's regular center fielder at least against right-handed pitching.
Jun 17 2024Meadows is slashing .276/.377/.520 with seven home runs, 13 steals and a 20.5 percent strikeout rate in 151 plate appearances for Triple-A Toledo. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows flopped after making the team as the everyday center fielder to start the season, slashing .096/.224/.219 with a 37.6 percent strikeout rate in 32 games before being optioned to Triple-A on May 6. He doesn't turn 25 until November and is hitting the ball pretty hard (33.0 Hard%) while making contact at an acceptable 75.6 percent clip since being sent to Triple-A for a reset. Wenceel Perez has a .512 OPS over his last 20 games with the big club, and Meadows is a superior defender to Perez, so perhaps Detroit could look to make a roster move in the coming days/weeks.
May 6 2024The Tigers informed Meadows after Monday's game against the Guardians that he'll be optioned to Triple-A Toledo, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows has seen only three at-bats in May after going 6-for-60 over 25 games in April, and Detroit has finally seen enough. Ryan Vilade is expected to be recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.
May 3 2024Meadows is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows has gone 3-for-28 over his past 11 games and will sit Friday for the third time in Detroit's past six contests. Wenceel Perez appears to have claimed an everyday role and will start in center field against New York righty Marcus Stroman.
May 1 2024Meadows is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Meadows finds himself on the bench against a right-handed pitcher for the second time in five games and could soon find himself back with Triple-A Toledo, given his rough start to the season. Even after reaching base three times in the Tigers' 11-6 win in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday, Meadows is slashing a deplorable .100/.222/.229 through 81 plate appearances on the season. Wenceel Perez will draw the start in center field Wednesday and could end up unseating Meadows for an everyday spot in the lineup.
Apr 27 2024Meadows is not in the Tigers' starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows will get a rest day Saturday after starting in each of the Tigers' last seven games. He has struggled over that span, going 2-for-24 with three runs and a solo home run while striking out 12 times. The switch-hitting Wenceel Perez will start at center field Saturday and bat third against Royals right-hander Brady Singer.
Apr 22 2024Meadows went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's win over the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Meadows connected with a Zack Littell slider to launch a mammoth 427-foot homer in the sixth inning. However, it was the only bright spot on the 24-year-old's evening as he struck out in his three other plate appearances. Despite a .093/.222/.241 slash line over 63 plate appearances this season, Meadows continues to get regular playing time in the Detroit outfield as a strong-side platoon player. Until he can string together more hits, he's best left on the waiver wire.
