Jun 8 2025The White Sox placed Shuster on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a blister on his left hand. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Shuster last pitched Wednesday against Detroit, allowing four runs in one inning as an opener. He appears to have picked up a blister in that outing and will now be sidelined for about two weeks. The IL move is retroactive to June 5, so Shuster will be eligible to be activated June 20. In corresponding roster moves, the White Sox signed veteran reliever Tyler Alexander and transferred Fraser Ellard to the 60-day IL.
Jun 4 2025Shuster will serve as the White Sox's opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Shuster will draw an opener assignment for the second time in less than a week, after he tossed a scoreless inning last Friday against Baltimore. The southpaw has maxed out at three innings over his 17 appearances between the White Sox and Triple-A Charlotte this season, so he could be called upon to give Chicago a little more length in his second turn as an opener. The White Sox haven't announced their plans for once Shuster exits the contest, but righty Mike Vasil could be a candidate to work as a bulk reliever.
May 30 2025Shuster will work as the opener Friday in Baltimore, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The game got pushed up a few hours due to inclement weather, so Shuster is going to give primary pitcher Sean Burke more time to get ready. Shuster has been back and forth between Triple-A and the majors a couple times this month, and he has a 1.93 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 3:2 K:BB in 4.2 innings over his three most recent appearances with the big club.
May 17 2025The White Sox recalled Shuster from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Shuster was sent down to Triple-A on Friday, but he'll now come right back up to the majors to replace Tyler Gilbert (knee), who landed on the injured list Saturday. Shuster hasn't been very effective with Chicago this season, giving up nine earned runs in 10.2 innings while posting a 9:3 K:BB.
May 16 2025The White Sox optioned Shuster to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Shuster has managed just a 7.59 ERA over eight appearances out of Chicago's bullpen this season. He's fared much better at Charlotte, where he's allowed only two runs with a 15:3 K:BB over 11.1 innings.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The White Sox will call upon Shuster to provide the big-league club with some additional pitching depth while Martin Perez (elbow) moves to the injured list. Shuster has been used exclusively as a reliever in the minors this year, turning in a 1.59 ERA through 11.1 innings.

The left-hander was used mostly as a reliever with the White Sox last season but could be stretched back out as a starter in Charlotte.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: According to James Fegan of SoxMachine.com, White Sox manager Pedro Grifol had previously said Saturday that Chad Kuhl was likely to start Sunday's series finale, but Shuster will instead get the ball for Chicago in its final game before the All-Star break. Shuster has prior starting experience, but he's mostly worked out of the bullpen since being called up from Triple-A Charlotte on May 1, covering no more than 3.1 innings in any of his subsequent 18 appearances. He'll be taking the hill on one day rest Sunday, so Shuster is unlikely to work more than once through the batting order before turning the game over to Kuhl and the rest of the White Sox bullpen.

Considering he'd thrown three innings four times this season and had only thrown one-third of an inning since June 27, there was optimism he'd be able to go deeper into Thursday's game but only made it two innings before being yanked. It's unclear if he was on a pitch count or if his removal was due to a lackluster performance. Regardless, the 25-year-old should be expected to head back to the bullpen, especially with Mike Clevinger (elbow/neck) expected to return next week.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Shuster has appeared in 17 games for the White Sox this season, posting a 3.15 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 34.1 innings, but Thursday will mark his first start of the year. The 25-year-old southpaw worked almost exclusively as a starter throughout his professional career before joining the White Sox in the offseason, so he should be able to pitch well into Thursday's game before Chicago turns to its bullpen.
