Jun 23 2024The White Sox optioned Colas to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The move corresponds with Eloy Jimenez (hamstring) being reinstated off the injured list Sunday. Colas joined the big club June 1 due to injuries across the roster, but he saw his playing time decrease over time. In 12 appearances since his call-up, Colas went 9-for-32 with four RBI and a .660 OPS over 32 at-bats. He should settle back into an everyday role in the minors, where he is slashing .244/.358/.406 with five home runs and 21 RBI over 193 plate appearances in Triple-A.
Jun 20 2024White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Thursday that Colas may be optioned to Triple-A Charlotte soon in order to play on an everyday basis, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Colas hasn't started a game in a week, and while Grifol said he plans to put the outfielder in the lineup soon, he admitted that it might be more beneficial for the 25-year-old to go back to the minors. The outfielder has gone 9-for-30 at the plate during his limited chances with the White Sox this season, although all nine hits have been singles. Chicago will be sellers at the trade deadline, and playing time for Colas could open up at that point.
Jun 16 2024Colas is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Colas is on the bench for the third game in a row and looks like he'll serve as little more than a fourth or fifth outfielder for the White Sox following the recent returns of Tommy Pham and Andrew Benintendi from the injured list.
Jun 10 2024Colas is not in the starting lineup for the White Sox's series opener against the Mariners on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Colas will begin Monday's game in the dugout after starting in each of the last three games. He went 3-for-11 with two RBI in the four-game series against the Red Sox. The lefty-hitting Zach DeLoach will start in right field and bat eighth against Seattle right-hander Logan Gilbert.
Jun 7 2024Colas went 1-for-3 with two RBI on Friday against the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Colas started for the third time in five games since being recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday -- trading off starts with Gavin Sheets in right field. Colas drove in his second and third runs of the season with a single in the fourth frame. There's not much to take away from a limited sample of 15 plate appearances since he rejoined the White Sox, though Colas has struck out only three times in that span.
Jun 6 2024Colas isn't in the White Sox's lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Colas registered his first hit in the majors this season during Wednesday's loss to the Cubs, and he'll now take a seat for Thursday's series opener versus Boston. Zach DeLoach, Duke Ellis and Gavin Sheets will start across the White Sox's outfield with Luis Robert in as the DH.
Jun 2 2024The White Sox recalled Colas from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday. He'll start in right field and will bat seventh in the White Sox's series finale with the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Chicago opened up room for Colas on the 26-man active roster by placing left fielder Andrew Benintendi (Achilles) on the 10-day injured list. The White Sox will likely turn to Colas and Dominic Fletcher to serve as the primary replacements in the outfield for the duration of Benintendi's stay on the shelf, though both players will draw starts in the outfield Sunday while Gavin Sheets covers first base in place of Andrew Vaughn (finger), who is day-to-day. Colas delivered a lowly .571 OPS in 75 games with the big club in 2023 and hasn't been overly impressive at Charlotte this season, slashing .244/.358/.406 with five home runs and six stolen bases over 193 plate appearances.
Jun 1 2024Colas was called up to the White Sox on Saturday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Colas' call-up comes after Andrew Benintendi (Achilles) and Andrew Vaughn (finger) sustained in-game injuries Saturday, making it likely that at least one of the two will require a stint on the IL. Colas owned a .571 OPS in 263 plate appearances with Chicago last season and is slashing .244/.358/.406 with five home runs at Triple-A Charlotte this year.
