Sep 21 2023Yepez is starting in left field and batting fifth in Thursday's game against the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Yepez was recalled Sunday and will see his first action in the majors since back in early June. The 25-year-old has spent the majority of the season at Triple-A Memphis, where he's posted just a .736 OPS with nine homers in 86 contests.
Sep 17 2023Yepez was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Yepez was up with the Cardinals early in the season but has been at Triple-A since early June. The 25-year-old has a .664 OPS in 46 big-league plate appearances this year, though he was better for Memphis with a .255/.323/.413 slash line in 86 games.
Jun 9 2023St. Louis optioned Yepez to Triple-A Memphis on Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Dylan Carlson (ankle) has been activated from the injured list in a corresponding 26-man roster move. Yepez, 25, carries a rough .214/.283/.381 batting line with two home runs in 20 games (46 plate appearances) this season at the major-league level.
May 18 2023Yepez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 16-8 win over the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Yepez got in on the homer party despite not starting the contest -- he entered as a pinch hitter for Tommy Edman (abdomen) in the third inning and promptly hit a solo shot. There hasn't been much playing time for Yepez since he was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on May 5, but the Cardinals' outfield is starting to feel the impact of injuries. In addition to Edman, Dylan Carlson (ankle) and Tyler O'Neill (back) are nursing injuries. It's possible Yepez could serve as a platoon option in the corner outfielder positions in the near team. He's slashing .250/.276/.464 with two homers, two RBI and four runs scored through 29 plate appearances.
May 14 2023Yepez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game in Boston. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After starting in each of the past three games while going 1-for-7 with a walk and a run scored, Yepez will cede left field to Brendan Donovan in the series finale. With Willson Contreras expected to transition back to full-time catching duties beginning with Monday's game against the Brewers, Donovan could end up shifting to second base while Nolan Gorman steps in as St. Louis' primary designated hitter. Assuming that's the case, Yepez could still have a path to seeing playing time in left field, though perhaps in the short side of a platoon.
May 5 2023Yepez is starting in left field and batting sixth Friday versus the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Yepez was called up from Triple-A Memphis on Friday afternoon and will jump right into the Cardinals' starting lineup against the Tigers and left-hander Matthew Boyd. Yepez could see semi-regular action, especially versus lefties, as Tyler O'Neill recovers from a lower back strain. Alec Burleson is on the bench Friday.
