Jun 25 2025Brash picked up his first save of the season in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Twins, striking out a batter over a perfect inning of work. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash was called upon for the save after the Andres Munoz was deployed in the eighth of a tie game. The Mariners took the lead in the top of the ninth and Brash shut the door with ease. Tuesday's save was Brash's first since the 2023 season after he missed all of last year and the start of this year with injury. He's begun his 2025 campaign by pitching 14.1 scoreless innings while racking up seven holds and now a save. Brash looks to be the next man up for saves if Munoz were to miss time.
Jun 8 2025Brash threw a scoreless eighth inning in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Angels. He struck out two. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Sunday marked yet another scoreless outing by Brash, who has rattled off 12 such efforts in a row to begin his season and comeback from 2024 Tommy John surgery. The hard-throwing right-hander remains behind Andres Munoz, who collected his 18th save of the year against Los Angeles, in Seattle's bullpen hierarchy, but Brash has excelled as one of the club's top setup men. Through 10.1 innings, he sports a 12:4 K:BB and 1.06 WHIP to go with his 0.00 ERA and six holds.
May 3 2025The Mariners reinstated Brash (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After missing all of 2024 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, Brash will make his long-awaited return to Seattle's bullpen. The 26-year-old made six appearances at Triple-A Tacoma during his rehab assignment, giving up six runs (five earned) across 5.1 innings, and he'll most likely take on a middle-relief role for the Mariners while he readjusts to major-league hitters. Troy Taylor was optioned to Tacoma in a corresponding move.
May 1 2025Brash (elbow) has made six appearances with Triple-A Tacoma, logging an 8.44 ERA, 2.06 WHIP and 5:2 K:BB over 5.1 innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash last pitched Tuesday, which marked the first time he's worked two out of three days on his minor-league rehab assignment. He had previously received at least three days off in between each of his first five outings. The hard-throwing right-hander appears to be on the precipice of being activated from the injured list after missing all of last season due to Tommy John surgery. General manager Justin Hollander said Wednesday that Brash is "getting very close" to rejoining Seattle's bullpen, per Zac Hereth of Seattle Sports.
Apr 14 2025Brash (elbow) began a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash threw 19 pitches during the outing, allowing one hit while striking out one in one inning of work. It marked the start of Brash's final steps before rejoining the Mariners' bullpen, which he should be able to do in late April or early May following several appearances in the minors. After missing all of last year due to Tommy John surgery, the hard-throwing right-hander figures to be eased back into action as a middle reliever before eventually becoming a setup man for closer Andres Munoz at some point.
Apr 7 2025Brash (elbow) is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session Wednesday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After throwing a bullpen session Saturday, Brash is set to take another step forward in his throwing program Wednesday. He was a candidate to join Triple-A Tacoma for game action this past weekend, but frigid weather conditions prevented Brash from going on his minor-league rehab assignment. The Mariners will likely decide if he's ready to do so following Wednesday's session, and the hard-throwing right-hander should still be able to rejoin Seattle's bullpen by early May at the latest.
Apr 4 2025Brash (elbow) threw a bullpen session prior to Friday's series opener against the Giants, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash is progressing as planned in his recovery from 2024 Tommy John surgery, although the next step in his throwing program has hit a brief delay. The right-hander appears to be ready to embark on a minor-league rehab assignment, but Daniel Kramer of MLB.com notes Brash has remained with the Mariners in San Francisco instead of joining Triple-A Tacoma due to frigid temperatures in the forecast in Reno, where Tacoma has a three-game weekend set. The hard-throwing Brash should be able to get in his first rehab action at some point next week, and he remains on track to help Seattle's bullpen in late April or early May.
Mar 30 2025Brash (elbow) was in the Mariners' clubhouse ahead of Sunday's series finale against the Athletics, and he's getting closer to beginning a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After returning to action for the first time since September 2023 in Seattle's final Cactus League outing last week, Brash is inching toward taking the next step in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. The hard-throwing right-hander will likely need to make several appearances in the minors before returning to Seattle's bullpen, so he remains unlikely to rejoin the major-league roster until sometime in late April or early May. Although Brash is set to serve as a high-leverage arm for the Mariners, the club could ease him back into action as a middle reliever upon his eventual activation from the injured list.
Mar 24 2025Brash (elbow) struck out two batters and walked one in two-thirds of an inning during Monday's Cactus League game against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash appeared to be amped up in what was his first live action since undergoing an internal brace procedure last May. He fired his first pitch at 98 mph and struck out the first batter he faced on three pitches. Brash then struck out the next batter he faced and walked the third, resulting in his removal after 12 pitches. According to Shannon Drayer of Seattle Times Sports, the next step for Brash will be to make sure he emerges from Monday's outing without any issues. If all goes as planned over the next day or so, he'll likely be scheduled for throwing on the back fields later in the week, followed by a rehab stint at Triple-A Tacoma.
Mar 12 2025Brash (elbow) will throw a live batting practice session Wednesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It will be the reliever's first time facing hitters since he underwent an internal brace procedure on his right elbow last May. The Mariners have said Brash could make his season debut by the third week of April in a best-case scenario, but closer to the beginning of May is probably a more realistic target.
Feb 15 2025Brash (elbow) will throw a light bullpen session Saturday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Saturday will mark the first time Brash has thrown off a mound since he underwent an internal brace procedure on his right elbow last May. He's not expected to be ready for regular-season action until mid-April at the earliest, but a return to mound work is still an encouraging sign.
Feb 3 2025Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto said Monday that Brash (elbow) should be ready for the start of spring training and a season debut in the third week of April is the best-case scenario for the reliever, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: While everything with Brash's recovery from last May's internal brace procedure has come along swimmingly, Dipoto acknowledged the uncertainty with how the righty will respond to throwing in Cactus League games. Brash will begin the season on the injured list either way, but the hope is that the stint will be a short one. The 26-year-old boasts a career 31.9 percent strikeout rate and will be in line for high-leverage relief work once he's ready.
Nov 27 2024The Mariners are optimistic that Brash (elbow) can make his 2025 debut by the end of April, Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash had an internal brace procedure on his right elbow in early May, so a return in April would be aggressive. However, he's been working out at the team's spring training complex in Arizona and is considered ahead of schedule in his recovery. Brash was dynamite out of Seattle's bullpen in 2023, posting a 3.06 ERA and 107:29 K:BB across 70.2 innings. Once healthy, he will serve in a leverage relief role for the Mariners.
Aug 28 2024Brash, who continues to rehabilitate from a May 8 internal bracing procedure on his throwing elbow, will visit with the Mariners during the second week of September, MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: As was the case when he dropped by in early August, Brash's visit will allow him to reconnect with the big-league medical and training staff, as well as meet personally with new manager Dan Wilson. Brash was already engaging in plyometric exercises on a trampoline when he was last in Seattle several weeks ago, and there have been no reports of any setbacks as he aims for a pre-All-Star-break return in 2025.
Aug 7 2024Brash, who underwent season-ending elbow surgery May 8, has been with the Mariners during their current homestand and is set to begin playing catch in Arizona next week, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash has been taking a brief respite from rehabilitation activities and reconnecting with the big-league staff and teammates, but he'll be heading to Arizona for what will be a closely monitored start to his throwing program. Brash has already been engaged in one-handed pitch-and-catch plyometric exercises on a trampoline, and he reports being very pleased with the pace of the early stages of his recovery and the way he's felt while carrying it out. Due to the fact Brash had an internal brace procedure instead of a full Tommy John surgery, his recovery isn't expected to take much more than 12 months, leaving him with a chance to be back in action by June 2025.
Jul 24 2024Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said Wednesday that Brash (elbow) will begin a throwing program in mid-August, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery May 8 but looks to be progressing well in the early stages of his rehab. He shed a protective brace on his elbow a little over a month ago and will take the first meaningful step forward in his recovery when he begins throwing in a few weeks. If he continues to experience no setbacks with his throwing program late in the season and throughout the offseason, Brash could be ready to face hitters by the end of spring training, but he'll still almost certainly open the 2025 campaign on the injured list.
Jun 13 2024Brash (elbow) has shed the protective brace he'd been wearing following Tommy John surgery and remains at the Mariners' complex in Arizona recovering, MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: There have been no reported setbacks over the first four weeks-plus of Brash's recovery, as this report seems to corroborate. While Brash remains at the team's spring training complex for now, there's a chance he joins the big-league club for intermittent periods over the course of the rest of the season. With Brash's surgery having included an internal bracing procedure that has shown to speed up the total recovery period, the team remains hopeful of getting the hard-throwing right-hander back in action as soon as next June.
May 10 2024Brash underwent Tommy John surgery on Wednesday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash injured his right elbow during spring training and was pulled off his throwing program after suffering a setback in late April. He will now be held out for the remainder of the year as a result of his procedure, but the Mariners are hopeful he will return in early June next season.
May 8 2024The Mariners transferred Brash (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for lefty Kirby Snead, who was called up from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move. Brash's status remains unclear following a setback with his right elbow a couple weeks ago, but he now won't be eligible to return from the IL until late May.
Apr 27 2024Brash has been shut down after having a setback with his right elbow while playing catch Friday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash is headed to Dallas to receive an opinion from Dr. Keith Meister on his injured elbow. It sounds like the setback is a significant one, with Mariners general manager Justin Hollander saying the team is "concerned." Brash had been closing in on a rehab assignment, but his status in the short- and long-term is very much up in the air.
Apr 22 2024Brash (elbow) will pitch once more at the Mariners' complex in Peoria in coming days before a rehab assignment start date is determined, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander's extensive build-up following spring elbow trouble appears to be drawing to a close, and Brash seems to have navigated the process without setbacks thus far. Assuming all goes well with his final throwing session, Brash could be toeing the rubber for one of the Mariners' minor-league affiliates shortly thereafter in what would be his first game action of any kind in 2024.
Apr 13 2024Brash (elbow) is set to throw another live batting practice over the weekend and will then head out on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma, SeattleSports.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash threw a live batting practice early this week, and Mariners general manager Justin Hollander noted Friday that the hard-throwing right-hander emerged from that session feeling good. If Brash's second live BP goes equally well, Hollander estimates it will be just a matter of days before Brash heads down to Tacoma for a rehab assignment of a yet-to-be-determined duration.
Apr 10 2024Brash (elbow) recently threw a live batting practice session in Arizona that went "very well," per manager Scott Servais, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The valued right-hander remains without a timetable for return, but Servais appeared to be encouraged by the progress Brash has been making in recent throwing sessions. Brash went on the injured list March 29, and considering he never made it into Cactus League action, he'll project for a fairly lengthy rehab assignment whenever he reaches that benchmark.
Apr 1 2024Brash (elbow) threw sliders in a bullpen session Monday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He also upped the intensity of his throwing, per Mariners general manager Justin Hollander. While there remains no timetable for Brash's return, he is coming along nicely as he works his way back from right elbow inflammation. He shouldn't be too far off from a rehab assignment.
Mar 29 2024The Mariners placed Brash (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash sustained an elbow injury early in camp and didn't end up pitching in the Cactus League, though he was fortunate to avoid surgery after he was diagnosed with inflammation following a visit with Dr. Keith Meister, per MLB.com. The right-hander has since resumed throwing bullpen sessions and is likely to throw off the mound again this weekend before potentially gaining clearance to face hitters. Brash seems to be tracking toward a return from the IL in mid-to-late April.
Mar 25 2024Brash (elbow) threw 25 pitches at 85 percent effort Monday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash was recently cleared to resume throwing off a mound, and he's progressed to 85 percent effort after tossing at roughly 70 percent Wednesday. The team will likely re-evaluate the right-hander Tuesday morning to see how he bounces back from his latest side session before determining next steps.
Mar 21 2024Brash (elbow) threw a bullpen session Wednesday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash only threw at roughly 70% effort, but Wednesday's session marked his first time throwing off the mound since being taken off his throwing program in late February. Brash will throw another bullpen session within the next few days, and it's possible he progresses to facing hitters after then. The 25-year-old righty will likely begin the year on the 15-day IL.
Mar 17 2024Brash (elbow) has "picked up his throwing quite a bit" according to manager Scott Servais and could be ready for game action shortly after Opening Day, MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash has now upped his throwing distance to 110 feet after hitting the 90-foot threshold early in the week. The next step for Brash is to progress to begin throwing off a mound, and once he's successfully completed that phase of his rehabilitation, he's likely to log game action at the minor-league level before being deemed ready to face big-league hitters.
Mar 10 2024Brash (elbow) will play catch out to 90 feet Sunday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash will take an incremental step forward in his recovery from right elbow inflammation, as he had been playing catch out to 60 feet a few days earlier. The right-hander still looks like he might be a week or more away from throwing off a mound, and since he'll need additional time beyond that to face hitters in live batting practice and eventually Cactus League or minor-league rehab games, Brash appears set to begin the season on the 15-day injured list.
Mar 5 2024Brash (elbow) played catch from 60 feet Tuesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash made 25 throws and didn't have any issues. He will continue playing catch every other day in order to get built back up as he works his way back from medial right elbow inflammation. Brash will begin the season on the injured list and could miss several weeks as he deliberately rebuilds stamina.
Mar 4 2024Brash (elbow) is expected to play catch Tuesday with a trainer, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander is still expected to be weeks away from a return, but Tuesday represents an important step in his recovery. If Brash is able to come out of the session without any setbacks, he'll likely begin a deliberate process of building up his workload while managing the medial right elbow inflammation he's been experiencing.
Mar 1 2024Brash was diagnosed with medial right elbow inflammation Friday and is expected to start playing catch early next week, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Recent reports indicated Brash could be dealing with a serious arm injury, but it appears to be a more minor issue that won't keep him shut down for long. Still, the right-hander is likely to begin the season on the injured list, with the Mariners expected to build him up cautiously.
Feb 28 2024Brash (elbow) could be sidelined for a significant period of time, perhaps for the entire season, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash and the Mariners haven't revealed where exactly the reliever is hurting, but Divish notes that the righty was looking down at his elbow while discussing the injury. Divish also hears from sources that the injury could potentially be long term and, at the very least, is likely to result in an injured list stint to begin the season. Brash struck out 107 batters over 70.2 innings last season and his potential loss would be a devastating blow to Seattle's bullpen.
Feb 23 2024Brash hasn't thrown since Tuesday and will remain shut down through the weekend after he said his right arm "just didn't feel great" the day after a bullpen session, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash's bullpen session Tuesday was his second this spring and he didn't bounce back as hoped Wednesday. He's been doing rehab daily and lifting weights and the hope is that he will be able to resume a throwing program next week. For what it's worth, Brash said he's dealt with something similar in the past and he's not concerned. It's still a worrisome development, but there's still plenty of time for him to get back up to speed in time for Opening Day. The Mariners are also currently without fellow setup man Gregory Santos (lat).
Sep 27 2023Brash secured his 25th hold in a win over the Astros on Tuesday, firing two scoreless innings during which he allowed a hit and recorded two strikeouts. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash threw 19 of 25 pitches for strikes while extending his scoreless appearance streak to 13 outings. The right-hander continues to primarily see seventh- and eighth-inning work, although he's arguably been more trustworthy overall in the last month-plus than primary closer Andres Munoz. If the Mariners do make it into the postseason, how manager Scott Servais distributes high-leverage assignments will be something to monitor.
Sep 14 2023Brash recorded his 23rd hold in a win over the Angels on Wednesday, firing a scoreless eighth inning during which he allowed a hit and a walk while recording three strikeouts. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash worked the eighth inning while posting his eighth consecutive scoreless appearance, a stretch that dates back to Aug. 29. The right-hander has generated a 13.5 K/9 and snagged six holds over that eight-inning sample, as manager Scott Servais has opted to stick with Andres Munoz as the primary ninth-inning option despite some stumbles while often deploying Brash in a seventh- or eighth-inning role.
Aug 21 2023Brash (9-4) got the win against the Astros on Sunday, firing 1.1 scoreless innings during which he allowed a hit and recorded two strikeouts. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Mariners bullpen as a whole was called on for extended duty Sunday after starter Emerson Hancock was forced from the game following two innings due to a shoulder strain. The urgency was compounded when Tayler Saucedo, who relieved Hancock, failed to retire a batter while giving up five runs, but Brash was one of multiple relievers to pick up the slack. He got his four outs on a relatively efficient 23 pitches while posting his second straight scoreless appearance after allowing runs in back-to-back appearances against the Royals last Monday and on Wednesday. Brash had recorded saves in each of his two most recent outings, so he continues to be one of the more versatile bullpen options for manager Scott Servais and an increasingly valuable fantasy asset as a result.
Aug 18 2023Brash picked up the save Thursday against the Royals, striking out one over a perfect inning. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash entered the contest with a two-run lead in the bottom of the ninth and needed just eight pitches to retire the side in order and notch his fourth save of the season. It was a nice rebound effort after surrendering four hits over his last two outings. The right-handed reliever has now converted three of his last four save attempts and has not issued a walk in three straight appearances.
Aug 16 2023Brash allowed one run on a hit and struck out one in one inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash has followed up a nine-inning scoreless streak with three runs allowed over his last 1.1 frames. He took a blown save and loss Monday against the Royals, but he was able to maintain the lead this time around with Andres Munoz down following a 42-pitch outing Tuesday. Brash is up to three saves, 17 holds, five blown saves, a 3.46 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 85:22 K:BB through 52 innings this season. The Mariners' late-inning relievers have been shaky this week across the board, so Brash's individual struggles aren't likely to cost him high-leverage chances just yet.
Aug 14 2023Brash (8-4) allowed two runs on two hits while taking a loss against the Royals on Monday. He was charged with a blown save and recorded one out. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash was given the save chance in a 6-5 game and gave up two runs on a sacrifice fly and a sacrifice bunt. He entered Monday with a nine-inning scoreless streak but saw his ERA climb to 3.35 after the hiccup. Justin Topa threw a scoreless frame while Andres Munoz didn't enter the contest.
Aug 10 2023Brash (8-3) got the win over the Padres on Wednesday, firing a perfect eighth inning during which he recorded a strikeout. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash wrapped up his one frame on a scant 10 pitches, and he was rewarded for preserving the 1-1 tie when Seattle broke out for a five-run tally in the home half of the eighth. The right-hander has already benefited fantasy managers throughout the season with a robust amount of holds and elite strikeout numbers, but he's now logged three winning decisions and converted one save chance since Paul Sewald was traded to the Diamondbacks on July 31.
Aug 9 2023Brash secured his 16th hold in the Mariners' win over the Padres on Tuesday, firing a scoreless eighth inning during which he allowed a hit and a walk, threw a wild pitch and recorded a strikeout. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was an eventful frame for Brash. He displayed some of the control issues he's gotten a better handle on this season, but the hard-throwing right-hander still managed to escape unscathed and post his seventh straight scoreless appearance. Brash has primarily filled a setup role since the trade of Paul Sewald at the deadline to the Diamondbacks, although he has seen one save chance in that span that he successfully converted. Andres Munoz is proving capable of manning the closer role for the time being, but Brash should continue drawing plenty of hold opportunities down the stretch and also log the occasional ninth-inning assignment.
Aug 4 2023Brash allowed a hit and a walk while striking out two over a scoreless inning to earn the save in Friday's 9-7 win over the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash allowed the first two batters he faced to reach base before settling down. Andres Munoz had converted the Mariners' first two save chances since they traded away Paul Sewald, but he'd pitched three of the last four days, allowing Brash to step up in a high-leverage spot. Brash has two saves and 15 holds this season while pitching to a 3.28 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 80:20 K:BB over 46.2 innings. Brash has the stuff to be an effective late-inning reliever, though he's still got some strides to make with control.
Aug 3 2023Brash (7-3) got the win over the Red Sox on Wednesday, firing a perfect seventh inning during which he recorded two strikeouts. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash mowed through the Red Sox during a seventh frame in which he needed just 10 pitches to record his three outs. The right-hander was then rewarded for his sharp performance when Seattle mounted a four-run rally in the seventh inning and held on the rest of the way, making him the pitcher of record. Brash is expected to see a boost in eighth-inning work, especially in games when the Mariners have the lead, as part of the reshuffling of the high-leverage end of the bullpen in the wake of Paul Sewald's trade to the Diamondbacks. However, the fact manager Scott Servais called on him to prevent a 3-2 deficit from growing any larger underscores the trust Brash has built with a breakout 2023 that's seen him pitch to a 3.35 ERA and 15.4 K/9 while also garnering 15 holds and one save, in addition to the seven victories.
Aug 2 2023Brash is in line to see more eighth-inning opportunities as part of the domino effect of Paul Sewald's trade to the Diamondbacks on Monday, and he could also be a candidate for some save chances, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash happens to be coming off what manager Scott Servais has termed as "probably the best month of his career", as the hard-throwing right-hander finished July with a 2-0 record, eight holds and a 13.9 K/9 without giving up a home run across 11 innings over 12 appearances. Brash has been more successful as a reliever since transitioning to the bullpen and is exhibiting improved control this season, but one concern about slotting him into a closing role would be the .684 OPS opposing hitters have generated against him in high-leverage situations. Nevertheless, with a fastball that averages 98 mph and a 15.3 K/9 across 52 appearances, he's projected to see a nice bump in setup work, at minimum, behind projected primary closer Andres Munoz.
Jul 26 2023Brash, who picked up his fifth win Tuesday against the Twins with a scoreless eighth inning during which he issued a walk and struck out the side, has a 2.35 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, 14:4 K:BB and six holds across the 7.2 innings covering his eight appearances in July. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The one-time starter has been in a groove as a reliever for most of the season, and July has been a particularly productive month. Brash has generated scoreless efforts in seven of those eight appearances this month, and he's gotten a better handle on his control issues overall by lowering his BB/9 from his rookie 5.9 figure to a more palatable 3.9 in 41.1 frames this season. Brash's five victories and 13 holds certainly have made him a rewarding asset for fantasy managers as well, although his work against left-handed hitters (.309 BAA) still needs improvement.
May 6 2023Brash (3-3) took the loss against the Astros on Friday, allowing two earned runs on two hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning. He struck out two. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash was tasked with preserving a 4-4 tie when he entered in the ninth inning, but his leadoff walk to Jose Abreu was followed by Kyle Tucker's go-ahead two-run home run to center field. The hard-throwing right-hander recorded a pair of subsequent strikeouts before a Jake Meyers single got him the hook, and he was saddled with his third loss of the season when Seattle couldn't rally. The stumble snapped a four-appearance scoreless streak for Brash while pushing his ERA and WHIP back up to 5.28 and 1.50, respectively.
May 4 2023Brash (3-2) secured the win in an extra-inning victory over the Athletics on Wednesday, firing 1.2 scoreless innings during which he allowed a hit and recorded two strikeouts. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brash was rewarded for snuffing out an eighth-inning threat when first entering the game, putting away Tony Kemp and Brent Rooker on a groundout and swinging strikeout, respectively, to strand Nick Allen on third base. Brash then worked around a leadoff single by Ramon Laureano in the ninth after the Mariners had tied the game in the top half of the frame, and he qualified for the decision once Eugenio Suarez broke the game open with a three-run home run in the 10th inning. The hard-throwing right-hander has now strung together four straight scoreless efforts and is rewarding fantasy managers with an elite 43.1 percent strikeout rate through 14.2 innings.
Apr 30 2023Brash picked up the save during Sunday's 10-8 win over the Blue Jays, allowing one hit and zero walks across a scoreless 10th inning. He struck out two. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Paul Sewald pitched a scoreless ninth to send the game into extras, and with Andres Munoz (shoulder) still on the injured list, Brash was given his fourth save opportunity of the season after Seattle scored two runs in the top of the 10th. The right-hander was able secure his first save despite giving up a single to George Springer and recored multiple strikeouts for a ninth time this season. Brash has three blown saves and an ERA of 4.85, but his 26:5 K:BB through 13 innings is encouraging.
