Mar 19 2024The Phillies optioned Hall to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With Bryce Harper now handling first base and Kyle Schwarber settling in at designated hitter, Hall's future with the Phillies looks cloudy. For now, he'll represent depth at Lehigh Valley.
Jul 21 2023Hall was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With Bryce Harper making his first start at first base Friday and Kyle Schwarber being used at designated hitter, Hall is headed back to the minors. He has just a .437 OPS at the big-league level this season.
Jul 19 2023Hall is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Hall sat out both ends of a doubleheader last weekend when the Padres brought a pair of lefty starters to the hill, but he had manned first base in both of the Phillies' last two games against right-handed pitchers. However, Hall will find himself on the bench Wednesday versus righty Colin Rea, allowing Edmundo Sosa to crack the lineup at third base while Alec Bohm shifts over to first.
Jul 15 2023Hall isn't in the Phillies' lineup for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against San Diego, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Left-hander Ryan Weathers will start Game 2 on the mound for San Diego, so the left-handed bat of Hall will stay put in Philly's dugout. Alec Bohm will take over at first base, allowing Edmundo Sosa to start at third and bat seventh.
Jul 9 2023Hall is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Hall will hit the bench Sunday for the second straight game with lefty Jesus Luzardo pitching for Miami. Alec Bohm is covering first base while Edmundo Sosa starts at the hot corner.
Jul 8 2023Hall isn't in the Phillies' lineup Saturday against Miami. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Hall is 4-for-19 with a homer and two RBI since returning from Triple-A. He'll catch a breather Saturday against lefty Braxton Garrett, moving Alec Bohm to first base and allowing Edmundo Sosa to start at third and bat eighth.
Jul 6 2023Hall went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's win over the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After going homerless in his first nine MLB games this season, Hall finally got on the board with a 398-foot moonshot off Jake Diekman in the fifth frame. After missing nearly two months with a thumb injury, Hall was called back up to the big league roster on July 2 and has been acting as the Phillies' starting first baseman. Since the promotion, Hall is batting 3-for-16 (.187) with the solo homer and an additional RBI.
Jul 2 2023The Phillies recalled Hall from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday. He'll start at first base and bat eighth in the Phillies' series finale with the Nationals, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Hall missed approximately two months earlier this season while recovering from a torn ligament in his thumb, but he was activated from the injured list in early June and was simultaneously optioned to Triple-A. After slashing an impressive .325/.406/.537 at Lehigh Valley over the past month, Hall will move back to the big leagues and is expected to get a look in a strong-side platoon role at first base. He'll be replacing Kody Clemens, who was optioned to Lehigh Valley after falling into a 5-for-39 drought at the plate over his last 13 games.
Jun 19 2023Hall (thumb) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Hall will return to the 40-man roster for the first time since he suffered a torn ligament in his right thumb in early April. The 27-year-old went 13-for-51 with six extra-base hits, including two homers, and 10 RBI over 13 games with Triple-A Lehigh Valley during his rehab assignment and he'll look to remain hot moving forward. Over 42 games with the Phillies in 2022, Hall produced a .250 average with nine homers, 16 RBI and 19 runs scored. With Bryce Harper holding down the designated hitter role in 2023, if Hall were to get called up, he'd likely operate in a platoon with Kody Clemens at first base. In a corresponding move, Dalton Guthrie was designated for assignment Monday.
Jun 2 2023Hall (thumb) had his rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Hall played two games for Single-A Clearwater, going 3-for-8 with a double and a walk. He's eligible to return from the 60-day injured list June 5, but it's possible the Phillies keep him in Triple-A past that date to ensure he completely shakes off any rust. Hall has been sidelined with a torn ligament in his right thumb since April 5, but he figures to immediately slot back into the starting lineup at first base when he returns with Alec Bohm (hamstring) now sidelined as well.
May 30 2023Hall (thumb) is beginning a rehab assignment Tuesday with Single-A Clearwater. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Hall will likely require a significant number of tuneup at-bats in the minors given that he's been sidelined since the first week of April because of a torn ligament in his right thumb. However, he's been cleared again for live competition and is about ready to offer the Phillies much-needed help at first base. Hall is first eligible to be activated from the 60-day injured list June 5.
May 21 2023Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters before Friday's game against the Cubs that Hall (thumb) is getting close to starting a rehab assignment, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Thomson notes that Hall hasn't hit live pitching yet, but he is hitting on the field and hitting off HitTrax while also taking groundballs, running and throwing. The first baseman is on the 60-day injured list and is not eligible to return to the Phillies until the early portion of June, but a rehab assignment in the next week or so could put him on track to do just that.
May 20 2023Hall (thumb) was transferred from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list by the Phillies on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The move opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for Dylan Covey, with Covey being claimed by the Phillies on Saturday off waivers from the Dodgers. Hall is currently out of action after undergoing surgery on a torn ligament in his thumb, and he'll be out until at least the middle of June while he recovers.
May 15 2023Hall (thumb) started playing catch May 3 and has also resumed taking dry swings, MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Hall underwent surgery on April 12 to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb. Following the operation, the Phillies offered a two-month timetable for Hall's return. That leaves him with roughly another month to go, and he'll certainly require some rehab games prior to activation.
