Jun 26 2024Feltner (1-7) took the loss Wednesday, giving up four runs on seven hits and a walk over six-plus innings as the Rockies fell 7-1 to the Astros. He struck out two. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 27-year-old righty had a quality start going through six innings, but Feltner got sent back out for the seventh and gave up back-to-back singles before getting the hook, with both runners coming around to score in a four-run frame for Houston. It's the sixth time in his last eight outings that Feltner has been tagged for at least four earned runs, and on the season he carried a rough 6.02 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 75:23 K:BB through 86.2 innings. He lines up to make his next start at home at Coors Field early next week against the Brewers.
Jun 19 2024Feltner allowed six runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six over five innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner has given up at least four runs in six of his last seven outings. He was on the hook for the loss until the Rockies rallied to tie the game in the seventh inning. His recent poor stretch of pitching has included four home starts, so it's not surprising he's struggled to find stability. Feltner is at a 6.02 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 73:22 K:BB through 80.2 innings over 15 starts this season. He's projected for a road start versus the Astros his next time out.
Jun 14 2024Feltner (2-6) took the loss Friday against the Pirates, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out eight. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Despite generating 13 whiffs to produce eight punchouts, Feltner struggled with the long ball, yielding a season-worst three homers. All three roundtrippers were titanic blasts, as each traveled farther than 430 feet in the thin Colorado air. Feltner has been especially shaky since May 1, going 0-4 with a 6.17 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over 42.1 innings in eight starts. The Rockies right-hander gets no reprieve in his next start, as he's currently scheduled to face the Dodgers at home.
Jun 8 2024Feltner allowed four runs (all unearned) on two hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings in a no-decision against St. Louis on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner held the Cardinals scoreless through five frames but ran into trouble when the first two batters reached base against him in the sixth. The right-hander responded by striking out Masyn Winn, but his defense then let him down, committing an error on each of the following two balls hit in play. That led to Feltner's departure and spoiled his chance at what could have been his first victory since April 12. Despite the disappointing finish, this was a much-needed bounce-back effort from Feltner after he allowed a combined 15 runs (13 earned) across 9.2 innings over his previous two starts.
Jun 3 2024Feltner (1-5) yielded eight runs on 10 hits over 4.1 innings Monday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Reds. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner began his start with a scoreless first inning, but that was the only positive in what became a long night for Colorado's pitching staff. The Reds piled eight runs on Feltner, including back-to-back three-run innings in the second and third. He was knocked from the game after 4.1 frames for the second straight start and saw his ERA jump to 6.22 through 63.2 innings. Since the start of May, he's given up at least five runs in four of his six starts. Feltner's next outing is projected to be in St. Louis.
May 28 2024Feltner allowed seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out one over 4.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Guardians on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner finally had some struggles at Coors Field in his fourth home start of the campaign. Jose Ramirez tagged him for a two-run home run in the first inning and Josh Naylor added another two-run blast in the fifth. Feltner posted six scoreless innings against the Athletics in his previous start, but he took a step back Tuesday and continues to post poor numbers overall. He's at a 5.61 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 49:18 K:BB through 59.1 innings across 11 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Reds.
May 23 2024Feltner allowed four hits and two walks while striking out six over six scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This was arguably Feltner's best start of the campaign, but it was all for nothing when six Rockies relievers all gave up at least one run. The Athletics rallied to erase three deficits before ultimately winning in the 11th inning. Feltner's winless skid is at seven games, and he remains 1-4 on the year with a 5.07 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 48:16 K:BB through 55 innings over 10 starts. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Guardians.
May 17 2024Feltner (1-4) gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two over four-plus innings to take the loss Friday versus the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This is the fifth time in nine starts Feltner has allowed at least four runs. The Rockies got off to a good start, but the right-hander gave it all back when he was tagged for a three-run home run by Thairo Estrada in the fifth inning. Feltner is now at a 5.69 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 42:14 K:BB through 49 innings this season. Oddly enough, he's been slightly worse away from Coors Field in 2024, but his next start is projected to be at Oakland.
May 11 2024Feltner allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings in a no-decision versus the Rangers on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner ran into some trouble in the fifth inning but otherwise had a solid outing for his third quality start of the season. He's still winless over his last five outings, but he was able to avoid giving up a home run -- Feltner has yet to yield a long ball at home in three Coors Field starts in 2024. Overall, he's at a 5.20 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 40:12 K:BB through 45 innings over eight starts this season. The right-hander is tentatively projected to make his next start on the road at pitcher-friendly Oracle Park in San Francisco.
May 5 2024Feltner (1-3) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing five runs on eight hits over 5.2 innings against the Pirates. He struck out three. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner was in line for the win through five innings, having allowed only one run to that point, but he allowed four runs on five hits in the sixth, with the damage including a couple of doubles and a blast by Oneil Cruz that helped seal Feltner's fate. Feltner was coming off a career-best eight-plus inning performance in his last start but eventually ran out of gas against a Pirates squad that had managed only three runs during the first two games of the series. Feltner will carry a 5.54 ERA and 1.46 ERA into his next start, tentatively lined up for next weekend when the Rangers come to the Mile High City for a three-game set.
Apr 30 2024Feltner did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing three runs on five hits over eight innings. He struck out three. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Felter was dominant for most of Tuesday's outing, blanking the Marlins through eight frames. With the Marlins up 5-0, the 27-year-old Feltner started the ninth inning, eyeing the first complete game of his career. However, he was pulled after allowing the first three batters to reach in the inning before the Rockies bullpen imploded, ultimately allowing the Marlins to tie the game and costing Feltner a chance at a win. Despite the disappointing finish, it was an encouraging outing for Feltner overall after he allowed 10 runs over 9.1 innings in his previous two starts. He's 1-2 on the season with a 5.13 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 33:10 K:BB through six starts (33.1 innings).
Apr 24 2024Feltner allowed four runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out four over four innings in a no-decision against the Padres on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner immediately found himself in some trouble with a leadoff walk and a pair of singles to quickly get the Padres on the board. They would plate one more before the inning ended and then got another two runs off him in the third with four more hits in the frame. Four innings was a season low for Feltner, who had to work hard, needing 93 pitches to get through the outing. He was unable to replicate the magnificent start at home he had versus the Rays earlier in the month, but Feltner's managed to keep the ball in the park in his two starts at Coors as opposed to the four home runs he's surrendered in his three road starts thus far. He'll take a 5.68 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB (25.1 IP) into his next outing on the road against the Marlins.
Apr 17 2024Feltner (1-2) took the loss Wednesday, allowing six runs on nine hits and two walks over 5.1 innings against Philadelphia. He struck out eight. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Phillies teed off Feltner in the first inning, starting the game with back-to-back solo shots by Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner as part of a four-run, five-hit frame. Though Feltner settled in afterward, the damage was already done, falling to his second loss of the campaign. Wednesday's outing was the first hiccup in what's been a very successful start to the 2024 campaign for Feltner. Before facing the Phillies, Feltner had allowed three or fewer earned runs in each of his three starts. He's lined up to make his next start Tuesday against the Padres at Coors Field.
Apr 12 2024Feltner (1-1) earned the win Friday against the Blue Jays, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out four. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner allowed a run in each of the first two innings before ultimately settling in and holding Toronto scoreless over his final three frames while the Rockies erupted for 12 runs in a comfortable win. Feltner's gotten off to a nice start this year, posting a 3.38 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP and 18:6 K:BB through his first three outings (16 innings). However, the 27-year-old righty isn't likely to warrant fantasy consideration while pitching half the time at Coors Field -- Felter struggled to a 5.82 ERA in 10 starts last season.
Apr 6 2024Feltner allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out 10 batters over six innings in a no-decision against Tampa Bay on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner struggled in his first start of the campaign March 31, giving up five runs (three earned) over five innings against Arizona. He turned things around Saturday, notching a quality start while inducing an impressive 18 swinging strikes en route to a career-high 10 strikeouts. Feltner was in line for the win upon his departure, but Colorado's bullpen was blown up late to stick him with a no-decision. Despite that disappointment, this was one of the best outings of his career, and it provides some optimism that Feltner can begin to turn his solid arsenal into useful results after he entered 2024 with an ugly 6.06 career ERA.
Mar 31 2024Feltner (0-1) yielded five runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks over five innings Sunday, striking out four and taking a loss against Arizona. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner struggled out of the gate Sunday, coughing up three runs in the first frame, including a two-run homer from Christian Walker. After following with three shutout innings, Feltner gave up two unearned runs in the fifth. The 27-year-old should have a spot in the rotation for now but shouldn't be trusted in most fantasy formats.
Mar 21 2024Feltner allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk while striking out six in Thursday's Cactus League contest against the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner has made four appearances this spring, with the last two being particularly impressive. Across those two outings, he has surrendered only two earned runs across 8.2 innings while maintaining a 9:2 K:BB. The Rockies haven't made any official decisions, but Feltner has made a strong case for the fifth spot in the team's rotation to begin the campaign.
Feb 1 2024Feltner (elbow) is healthy heading into spring training and will compete for a rotation spot, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner had an injury-plagued 2023 campaign, first suffering a skull fracture after being struck by a line drive in mid-May. He ended the season on the injured list with elbow inflammation, but he has fully recovered and will be entering the spring at full strength. That doesn't necessarily mean he'll start the season in the majors or the rotation, as he posted a 5.82 ERA and 1.68 WHIP across 43.1 innings with the club in 2023. Peter Lambert and Noah Davis are the other candidates to be the team's fifth starter.
Sep 27 2023The Rockies placed Feltner on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right elbow inflammation. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner started the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers and probably wasn't going to make another appearance either way. The 27-year-old right-hander finishes the 2023 campaign with a 5.82 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 38:28 K:BB in 10 major-league starts covering 43.1 innings.
Sep 20 2023Feltner did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two hits and two walks over five scoreless innings in a 2-0 loss to the Padres. He struck out five. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner made his first appearance since May 13 after being hit in the head by a comebacker and fired off five scoreless innings Tuesday. Encouragingly, Feltner got up to 86 pitches and appeared to be fully stretched out. However, Feltner was never in contention for the win, as the Rockies were no-hit until the ninth inning. The 26-year-old is tentatively scheduled to take the mound Sunday during a road matchup with the Cubs.
Sep 19 2023Feltner (head) was activated from the 60-day injured list ahead of his start Tuesday at San Diego. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner suffered a small skull fracture and a concussion when he was struck by a line drive May 13 against the Phillies, but he is back at full strength and can fit in a couple more turns in the Rockies' rotation before the conclusion of the 2023 campaign. The 27-year-old right-hander threw 66 pitches over 4.2 innings of one-run ball in his third and final minor-league rehab start last week with Triple-A Albuquerque.
Sep 18 2023Feltner (head) will be activated from the 60-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Padres, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner suffered a scary injury May 13 against the Phillies after taking a line drive to the head, and he was later diagnosed with a concussion and a small skull fracture. However, he made his third rehab start Tuesday at Triple-A Albuquerque without issue and has been given the green light by Colorado's medical staff to return. The right-hander fired 66 total pitches in his final rehab start, so he figures to be on a similar pitch limit in San Diego.
Sep 17 2023Feltner (head) struck out four and allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks over 4.2 innings in his most recent rehab start Tuesday at Triple-A Albuquerque. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Making the third start of his rehab assignment and his second in a row with Albuquerque, Feltner built up to 66 pitches (40 strikes). Per MLB.com, Rockies manager Bud Black said Feltner will make one more rehab start in the minors before making his return from the 60-day injured list and likely sliding into the big-league rotation. Feltner has been on the shelf since mid-May after being struck in the head by a line drive and suffering a small skull fracture and concussion.
Sep 11 2023Feltner (head) made the second start of his rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Albuquerque, covering 2.2 innings and striking out two while allowing one earned run on three hits and two walks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After tossing three innings of one-run ball in his first rehab outing Sept. 1 at High-A Spokane, Feltner jumped up two levels for his second start. Though he retired one less hitter than he had in his prior appearance, Feltner was able to build his pitch count up from 36 to 50. He'll likely require one or more tune-up outings at Albuquerque before returning from the 60-day injured list and slotting back into the Colorado rotation in the back half of September.
Sep 7 2023Feltner (head) will make his second minor-league rehab start Thursday with Triple-A Albuquerque, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner tallied three strikeouts over three innings of one-run ball in his rehab debut last Friday with High-A Spokane and will now jump to the Triple-A level as he readies for a late-season return to the Rockies' starting rotation. The 27-year-old right-hander suffered a skull fracture and concussion when he got struck by a Nick Castellanos comebacker in mid-May.
Sep 2 2023Feltner (head) struck out three and gave up one earned run on three hits and no walks over three innings in his rehab start Friday for High-A Spokane. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner returned to the mound Friday for the first time since he suffered a skull fracture and major concussion when he was struck in the head by a line drive in a May 13 start against the Phillies. Because he's been on the shelf for three and a half months, Feltner will require multiple rehab outings to get stretched back out for starting duty, but the right-hander appears on track to return from the 60-day injured list before season's end.
Aug 28 2023Feltner (head) is expected to pitch in a game with High-A Spokane on Wednesday, Kelsey Wingert-Linch of AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It has taken a while for Feltner to work his way back after being struck on the head by a line drive in mid-May, but he is on the verge of appearing in a game for the first time since. Barring any setbacks he should be ready to rejoin the Rockies before the campaign comes to a close.
Aug 14 2023Manager Bud Black, according to Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com, "has confidence Feltner (head) will pitch again in 2023." ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner has been out of action since being struck on the head by a baseball in mid-May, but he resumed throwing earlier this month, and he is scheduled to face hitters Saturday "without a protective screen." It's unclear how close he is to embarking on a rehab assignment, but that might not be too far in the future if things continue going as planned.
Aug 5 2023Feltner (head) will throw a bullpen session Saturday, MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner was cleared to begin throwing again in late July after recovering from a fractured skull and subsequent serious concussion symptoms. He is set to throw two bullpen sessions per week for a few weeks and then progress to a rehab assignment. That won't leave him much time to return during the regular season, though manager Bud Black told the media that both the team and Feltner believe it's important for him to get back on the mound prior to the winter to clear any mental hurdles that may be the result of his injury.
May 29 2023The Rockies transferred Feltner (head) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Colorado still hasn't offered a concrete timeline for Feltner's return to game action, but his move to the 60-day IL ensures that he won't be available for the big club until after the All-Star break while he recovers from the small head fracture and concussion he sustained when he was struck by a comebacker in a May 13 start versus the Phillies. The transaction clears up a spot on the 40-man roster for left-hander Ryan Rolison (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 60-day IL and optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.
May 14 2023Feltner (head) has been discharged from the hospital. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner was placed on the injured list Sunday after he was struck in the head by a line drive off the bat off Nick Castellanos and diagnosed with a small skull fracture and a concussion. Feltner remains without a return timeline, but it's obviously a positive development that the right-hander was able to be discharged from the hospital while not needing to undergo surgery.
May 13 2023Rockies manager Bud Black told reporters that Feltner is under observation at the hospital and being evaluated after being hit in the head by a line drive during Saturday's game against the Phillies, Jenny Cavnar of AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Black also mentioned that the team will receive more information on Feltner's status in the morning. The injury occurred when Nick Castellanos hit a line shot that directly connected with Feltner's head in the second inning, and while he did walk off under his own power with trainers, he was unable to continue. It's very likely that the right-hander will be placed in the concussion protocol.
May 7 2023Feltner did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing four runs on four hits and six walks over 3.1 innings during a 13-6 win over the Mets. He struck out three. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner walked the first two batters he faced and ultimately surrendered three first-inning runs. He struggled with his command all game long and was pulled with one out in the fourth after plunking Brandon Nimmo and walking Francisco Lindor to load the bases. Feltner struggled to start the season, allowing 13 runs in 13.1 innings with a 15:11 K:BB over his first three outings, but he had been sharp since, surrendering just two earned runs in 17 innings with a 15:4 K:BB across his past three appearances. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for a three-game weekend set versus Philadelphia.
May 2 2023Feltner did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over 5.1 innings against the Brewers. He struck out three. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner shut the Rockies out through five innings. But he allowed three of the first four batters to reach in the sixth before being lifted. The 26-year-old allowed 13 runs in his first three starts of the season. Since, he has only surrendered two runs in his last three starts. His ERA has dipped from 8.78 to 4.45. Feltner is tentatively scheduled to face the Mets on Sunday.
Apr 4 2023Feltner (0-1) took the loss Monday, allowing five runs on four hits and five walks over 4.2 innings against the Dodgers. He struck out seven. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After striking out the side in the second, Feltner surrendered a two-run homer to Chris Taylor in the third, giving the Dodgers an early 2-0 advantage. Colorado answered in the top of the fifth and took a 4-2 lead, but it was short lived as Feltner issued back-to-back two-out walks to load the bases before being taken out in the bottom half of the inning. Eventually, all three of those runners came around to score, turning a decent night into a losing effort. Despite the end results, Feltner's seven strikeouts against a strong Dodgers lineup certainly keeps the right-hander on fantasy radars.
Mar 29 2023Feltner won a spot in the Rockies' Opening Day rotation and will start the team's fifth game of the season Monday in Los Angeles versus the Dodgers, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner made 21 starts for the Rockies over the past two seasons, but he'll be included in the Opening Day rotation for the first time despite turning in a rough showing in the Cactus League (9.92 ERA, 2.20 WHIP, 10:10 K:BB in 16.1 innings). He built up to 85 pitches in his final spring outing Monday and shouldn't face any major workload restrictions in his first start of the regular season, but Feltner's recent form won't make him a comfortable streaming option while he faces off against what projects to be a strong Dodgers lineup.
Oct 4 2022Feltner (4-9) earned the win during Tuesday's 5-2 victory over the Dodgers, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner was granted an early two-run lead but gave it back by surrendering one run on three baserunners in the third inning and a Joey Gallo solo home run in the fifth. Colorado retook the lead in the seventh to put the 26-year-old in line for only his second win in his last 10 turns compared to six losses, while the quality start is his fourth in 19 tries. He concludes his rookie campaign with a high 5.83 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with 84 strikeouts in 97.1 innings across 19 starts and 20 appearances.
Sep 29 2022Feltner (3-9) allowed five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five over six innings, taking the loss Thursday versus the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner was done in by a bad second inning, in which he allowed an RBI single to Austin Wynns and a grand slam to Ford Proctor. Feltner hadn't allowed more than five runs in a start since Aug. 14, though he gave up at least three runs in five of his last seven outings. The 26-year-old right-hander now has a 6.01 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 80:33 K:BB through 91.1 innings this season. He's lined up for one more start in 2022, a road date with the Dodgers next week.
Sep 24 2022Feltner gave up two earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three over five innings in a 4-3 victory over the Padres on Friday. He did not factor into the decision. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner came into the game with an ERA of 6.05, so the Rockies are probably satisfied with his five innings of two-run ball. Feltner doesn't have swing-and-miss stuff, and he has accumulated only 75 strikeouts in 85.1 innings this season. His chase rate is in the bottom three percent according to Baseball Savant. The 26-year-old right-hander is tentatively expected to make his next start at San Francisco.
Sep 18 2022Feltner (3-8) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out four over 5.1 innings to earn the win Sunday over the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner had some trouble against Yan Gomes, who tagged the Rockies' starter for a two-run single in the third inning and a solo home run in the sixth. The Rockies had already scored four times in the first two innings, so Feltner's struggles didn't cost him a positive result. The right-hander has completed six innings in just three of his outings this year, and he's allowed at least three runs in five straight starts. He has a 6.05 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 72:29 K:BB through 80.1 innings across 17 appearances (16 starts). He's lined up for a home start versus the Padres in his next outing.
Sep 12 2022Feltner (2-8) gave up four earned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three over 2.2 innings to take the loss in a 12-6 defeat against the Diamondbacks on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner struggled with his control and issued four free passes in the third inning. The walks ran up his pitch count and led to a four-run inning before he was given the early hook. Feltner threw only 37 of his 70 pitches for strikes and his ERA rose to 6.12 with the poor outing. Feltner has issued 28 walks in 75 innings pitched this season. He is tentatively expected to make his next start on the road against the Cubs.
Sep 5 2022Feltner (2-7) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk over 5.1 innings Monday, striking out seven and taking a loss against Milwaukee. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner turned in three scoreless frames before the Brewers scored a pair of runs in the fourth. He was then charged with two more runs in the sixth. The 26-year-old righty is 0-4 with a 5.54 ERA over his last five starts. On the year, Feltner has produced a 5.85 ERA alongside a 65:24 K:BB through 72.1 frames. He's expected to face the Diamondbacks at home this weekend.
Aug 31 2022Feltner (2-6) took the loss against Atlanta on Wednesday, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: There were multiple positive takeaways for Feltner in the contest -- he tied a career high with seven strikeouts and fell one out shy of a quality start -- but he was outpitched by league wins leader Kyle Wright. Feltner's undoing was the long ball, as the three runs against him were produced on homers by Austin Riley and Ronald Acuna. Feltner has shown promise at times this season, but he's too inconsistent to trust in fantasy given his 5.78 ERA and 1.42 WHIP on the season.
Aug 26 2022Feltner (2-5) took the loss against the Mets on Thursday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two batters over 4.2 innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner gave up three runs in the third inning, and that was enough to seal his fate on a night when Jacob deGrom was his usual dominant self. The big blow against Feltner was a Pete Alonso two-run home run in the third inning, marking the fifth straight game in which the hurler has served up a long ball. Feltner has completed six innings only once in six outings since rejoining the big-league staff in late July, and he has a 5.53 ERA and 1.52 WHIP during that stretch.
Aug 20 2022Feltner registered a no-decision during Saturday's 4-3 win over the Giants, allowing one run on two hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner held San Francisco scoreless through five frames before surrendering a Joey Bart solo shot to lead off the sixth in submitting his first start of at least five innings and fewer than three runs in seven turns. The 25-year-old induced 10 swinging strikes on 86 pitches en route to five strikeouts after averaging 2.5 per start during his last six appearances. The successful outing dropped Feltner's ERA from 6.39 to 5.88, though he'll be in for a tough test with a start against the Mets scheduled for next week.
Aug 14 2022Feltner (2-4) took the loss during Sunday's 7-4 defeat at the hands of the Diamondbacks, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Making a second turn through the rotation, Feltner surrendered four runs early as a result of a Christian Walker double and 460-foot three-run home run before permitting two more runs on a double and an error in the fourth inning. The 25-year-old has allowed five earned runs in consecutive starts and has given up 14 total runs across 13.2 innings in three starts this month. He carries a 6.39 ERA and 1.48 WHIP into his next start, scheduled for next weekend against San Francisco.
Aug 11 2022Feltner is listed as the Rockies' scheduled starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks at Coors Field. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After getting called up from Triple-A Albuquerque over the weekend, Feltner slotted back into the rotation Tuesday, stepping in as a replacement for the injured Chad Kuhl (hip). Though he picked up the win against the Cardinals, Feltner benefited greatly from some generous support, as he was charged with five earned runs allowed on four hits and three walks in 5.2 innings. With another start on tap in Colorado this weekend, Feltner could be at risk of delivering toxic ratios for those thinking about streaming him.
Aug 9 2022Feltner (2-3) allowed five runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three over 5.2 innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner wasn't sharp Tuesday, but he had plenty of support, as the Rockies were up 12-0 through three innings. The right-hander has given up at least five runs in four of his 10 appearances this year, including two of his four home outings. He owns a 6.02 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 41:14 K:BB across 46.1 innings through 10 appearances (nine starts). With Chad Kuhl (hip) on the injured list, Feltner is likely to receive at least one more start, tentatively scheduled for a home start versus the Diamondbacks this weekend.
Aug 8 2022Feltner is scheduled to start Tuesday's home game against the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Since Feltner wasn't needed in relief over the weekend after being called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, he'll step into the rotation to fill the vacancy created by Chad Kuhl's move to the 10-day injured list with a right hip flexor strain. Feltner has previously made nine appearances (eight starts) for Colorado this season, posting a 5.75 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 38:11 K:BB in 40.2 innings. Even though Feltner tentatively lines up for two starts this week, his poor ratios along with the fact that both of his projected outings will come at Coors Field makes it difficult to rely on him as a streaming option.
Aug 5 2022Feltner was recalled by the Rockies on Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Felner was sent down after serving as the extra man in Tuesday's doubleheader against the Padres. He failed to impress in that start, allowing three runs on eight hits in 3.2 innings, but he could get at least a couple more turns in the rotation after Chad Kuhl (hip) hit the injured list.
Aug 3 2022Feltner didn't factor into the decision in a 13-5 loss to the Padres during the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader, giving up three runs on eight hits and a walk over 3.2 innings. He struck out three. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Rockies actually held a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning despite the Padres having runners on base in each of the first three frames, but Feltner's luck finally ran out in the fourth. The right-hander tossed 76 pitches (46 strikes) before exiting, and he'll likely head back down to Triple-A Albuquerque after this outing, with his 5.75 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 40.2 innings in the majors this year not making a strong case for a regular rotation spot.
Aug 2 2022The Rockies recalled Feltner from Triple-A Albuquerque ahead of his scheduled start in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader in San Diego. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner, who is making his ninth appearance and eighth start of the season for the Rockies, will carry a 1-3 record, 5.59 ERA and 1.35 WHIP into the contest. He'll likely be bound for Albuquerque immediately after his start, unless the Rockies deal away another starting pitcher prior to Tuesday's trade deadline and have a permanent opening in the rotation.
Aug 1 2022Feltner is expected to start one of the two games the Rockies will play against the Padres on Tuesday, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner has started seven games for the Rockies this season, and according to the report, he will likely start an eighth contest in the first game of Tuesday's twin bill.
Jul 30 2022Feltner was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner was effective as a long reliever Friday against the Dodgers, striking out two in 3.1 scoreless innings. However, he'll head back to the minors a day after his promotion since Jordan Sheffield was recalled by Colorado on Saturday. Feltner should be in the mix to rejoin the big-league club if the Rockies need a spot starter or long reliever.
Jul 29 2022Feltner was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He has a 6.15 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 33 strikeouts in 33.2 innings in the majors this season. Feltner last threw five innings July 24 at Triple-A, so he should be capable of working in long relief this weekend at home against the Dodgers.
Jul 12 2022Feltner (back) was activated from the 15-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner will return to Triple-A after being placed on the IL with a back issue. He was originally expected to start for the Rockies earlier this month, but he'll have to wait for another chance to return to the majors. Feltner owns a 6.15 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with 33 punchouts over 33.2 innings in seven starts in the big leagues this year.
Jul 4 2022Rockies manager Bud Black said Monday that Feltner will be placed on Triple-A Albuquerque's 7-day injured list due to back soreness, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner was a candidate to receive a call-up to start Wednesday against the Dodgers in place of Antonio Senzatela (shoulder), but Jose Urena now looks on track to get the starting nod with Feltner headed to the IL. Assuming the back issue proves to be a short-term concern for Feltner, he'll receive future consideration for spot starts when the Rockies have an opening in the rotation.
Jul 2 2022Feltner is "most likely" to start Wednesday at Dodger Stadium in place of Antonio Senzatela (shoulder), Nick Groke of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Ashton Goudeau took Senzatela's spot on the roster for the time being, but it sounds like the Rockies will make room for Feltner on Wednesday. While Feltner has mostly struggled with the major-league team this year, he's been able to navigate the harsh conditions of the Pacific Coast League pretty well (3.76 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, four homers allowed in 38.1 innings with Triple-A Albuquerque).
Jun 27 2022Feltner was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner struggled over four starts in June, as he posted an 8.64 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 16.2 innings during that time. He'll attempt to sort things out in the minors, while Austin Gomber is slated to rejoin the Rockies' rotation this week.
Jun 21 2022Feltner allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits and zero walks over 3.2 innings during Tuesday's 9-8 loss to the Marlins. He had four strikeouts and didn't factor in the decision. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Colorado jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Feltner fell apart during the fourth inning, as he gave up five runs on five hits and an error before being pulled with two outs. The 25-year-old threw 47 of his 71 pitches for strikes and didn't issue a walk for the first time in six starts this year, though he did hit a batter. Feltner has replaced Austin Gomber in the Rockies' starting rotation for now, but his rotation spot is hardly secure with a 5.46 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 31:7 K:BB through 29.2 innings this season.
Jun 19 2022Feltner will remain in Colorado's starting rotation and will pitch Tuesday at Miami, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner has a 4.85 ERA through five starts this season but has two quality starts in his past three outings, and he'll receive a longer look in the Rockies' rotation. The right-hander has a 3.94 FIP, 1.15 WHIP and 29:7 K:BB through 26 innings this season, so some more favorable results could be on the horizon. Austin Gomber will move to the bullpen as a result.
Jun 11 2022Feltner pitched six innings in Game 1 of a doubleheader against San Diego on Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out six. He did not factor in the decision. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner was called up from the minors prior to the game and limited the Padres to a single run on a third-inning Trent Grisham solo homer. The right-hander notched his second quality start this season, but Colorado's lack of offense prevented him from taking his second victory. Feltner has struck out at least six batters in four of his five major-league appearances this season and has allowed two or fewer runs in three of his outings. A six-run, three-inning dud against Atlanta on June 5 has pushed his season ERA to 4.85, but Feltner has pitched well enough so far to earn consideration for a full-time stay in the rotation.
Jun 10 2022The Rockies will recall Feltner from Triple-A Albuquerque to start the first game of Saturday's doubleheader in San Diego, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner was sent back to the minors last week after Antonio Senzatela returned from the injured list to reclaim his spot in the rotation, but Saturday's doubleheader creates the need for the Rockies to break in a temporary sixth starter. The Rockies will end up turning to Feltner to fill the void after he submitted a 5.85 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 23:6 K:BB across 20 innings in his first four outings of the season with the big club.
Jun 5 2022Feltner was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner's record dropped to 1-2 following Sunday's start against Atlanta, as he allowed six runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out three in three innings. However, the right-hander posted a 2.25 ERA and 0.83 WHIP over 12 innings in his two starts prior to Sunday's outing, so he should still be in the mix to start next week when the Rockies need a sixth starter during Saturday's doubleheader in San Diego.
May 31 2022Feltner (1-1) picked up his first career win in the majors Monday, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over seven innings in a 7-1 victory over the Marlins. He struck out six. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Aside from a towering 496-foot solo homer by Jesus Sanchez in the second inning -- the longest home run hit this season, and the longest ever by a left-handed hitter in Coors Field -- Feltner shut down Miami's bats. He threw 94 pitches (62 strikes). The performance should buy him some extra time in the Rockies' rotation as he looks to prove he deserves a full-time starting role, and through three outings this season he boasts an impressive 3.71 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 20:5 K:BB through 17 innings.
May 29 2022Feltner is listed as the Rockies' scheduled starting pitcher for Monday's game against the Marlins at Coors Field. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner will be rewarded with a second turn through the Colorado rotation after he struck out seven and allowed two runs over five innings in a no-decision May 25 in Pittsburgh. Whether the rookie right-hander sticks around with the big club beyond Monday's outing will likely hinge on the health of starters Antonio Senzatela (back) and Kyle Freeland (ankle). Senzatela made a four-inning rehab start at Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday and could be ready to return from the 15-day injured list as soon as Wednesday, while Freeland's status for the upcoming week is murkier after he suffered a left ankle impingement during his start Sunday against the Nationals.
May 25 2022Feltner allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out seven across five innings against Pittsburgh on Wednesday. He did not factor into the decision. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner was starting in place of Antonio Senzatela (back) and put together an impressive performance. He allowed a walk and double to begin the third frame -- both runners came around to score -- but he otherwise held Pittsburgh in check. Feltner has been impressive in two opportunities to make spot starts this season, maintaining a 14:4 K:BB across 10 innings despite a 5.40 ERA. He is currently projected to take at least one more turn through the rotation.
May 24 2022Manager Bud Black confirmed that Feltner will be called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Colorado will likely wait until Wednesday to officially add Feltner to the 26-man roster while removing another player from the roster in a corresponding move. Feltner previously made a spot start for the Rockies on April 27, when he took a loss in Philadelphia after giving up four earned runs and struck out seven over five innings. His most recent appearance in the minors was a three-inning outing Saturday, so Feltner could face some light restrictions with his workload Wednesday while taking the hill on three days' rest rather than the standard four. Feltner's stay in the Colorado rotation is unlikely to last more than a week or two, as Antonio Senzatela (back) is close to heading out on a rehab assignment and should be ready to return from the 10-day injured list by early June to reclaim his starting role with the big club.
May 1 2022Feltner was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner made a spot start against the Phillies on Wednesday and allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven in five innings to take the loss. The righty will head back to the minors as part of a move to trim the major-league roster to 26 players by Monday.
Apr 25 2022Feltner has joined the Rockies and is expected to be added to the big-league roster to start Wednesday against the Phillies, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Colorado had a doubleheader in Detroit over the weekend and will need a spot starter during the four-game set in Philadelphia, and Felter is poised to fill that role. The right-hander made his MLB debut last year and gave up eight earned runs over 6.1 innings, but he's pitched well early in 2022 at Triple-A Albuquerque with a 3.10 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB across 20.1 frames.
Mar 24 2022The Rockies optioned Feltner to Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner was one of four players on the Rockies' 40-man roster that was dispatched to the minors Thursday, leaving Colorado with 47 players remaining at MLB camp. The 25-year-old right-hander reached the majors for the first time in 2021, making two starts for the Rockies and giving up eight earned runs on nine hits and five walks over 6.1 innings. He's expected to slot into the Albuquerque rotation to begin the upcoming season.
Sep 18 2021Feltner was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner was called up to make his major-league debut Sept. 5. He struggled in two starts with the Rockies, allowing eight earned runs across 6.1 innings. Jon Gray will move up in the rotation and start Sunday in Feltner's place, and Feltner's absence could allow Peter Lambert (elbow) to work as a starter to close the campaign.
Sep 12 2021Feltner allowed two runs on four hits and three walks with six strikeouts in 3.2 innings versus Philadelphia on Sunday. He did not factor in the decision. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 25-year-old had a terrible major-league debut last Sunday, but he was able to make some improvements in his second turn through the rotation. Feltner managed to keep the ball in the yard and record his first big-league strikeout, although he needed Colorado's offense to wake up later in the game to avoid the loss. He's still given up eight runs on nine hits and five walks across 6.1 innings, so there's clearly more room for progress. Feltner tentatively lines up for a road start in Washington next weekend if he stays in the rotation.
Sep 6 2021Feltner (0-1) allowed six runs on five hits and two walks over 2.2 innings as he took the loss against Atlanta on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Feltner's debut was one he won't want to remember after giving up three home runs before even managing to complete three innings. Ozzie Albies took him deep to right on the first pitch of the game. Feltner then found himself trying to get out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the third and was unable to do so. Austin Riley drove in a run on a sacrifice fly and then Adam Duvall and Travis d'Arnaud followed with back-to-back home runs to make it 6-0 and end Feltner's outing. He should continue to get some looks in the back end of the rotation with the Rockies currently down two starters due to inury.
Sep 4 2021Feltner will be called up from Double-A Hartford on Sunday, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: A fourth-round pick by the Rockies in 2018, Feltner posted stellar numbers in the minors this year to earn his first call-up. After going 3-1 with a 2.17 ERA with High-A Spokane to begin the season, Feltner got the bump up and hardly missed a beat with a 2.85 ERA in 72.2 innings with Hartford. Feltner is a candidate to step into the rotation immediately with Austin Gomber (back) done for the season. Ashton Goudeau is another option for Colorado.
Jun 5 2018The Rockies have selected Feltner with the 126th overall pick in the 2018 first-year player draft.Feltner throws easy cheese, but he lacks a quality secondary offering and had only average success for Ohio State, posting a 4.88 ERA over 54 games, including 34 starts, in his three years at the school. Feltner figures to get a chance to start given his size and a fastball that can hit 98, but if things don't work out there, he has the potential to be a dominant reliever, a role he found a lot of success in while pitching in the Cape Cod League in 2017.
