Jun 29 2024Gordon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The outfielder opened the scoring in the second inning by taking Aaron Nola deep. Gordon has hit safely in each of his last seven games, but through 21 contests in June he's still batting a sluggish .234 (15-for-64) with two of his eight homers and eight of his 29 RBI on the season.
Jun 28 2024Gordon is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Philadelphia. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon will get a breather Friday after making six straight starts, collecting a hit in each contest. Bryan De La Cruz will play left field and lead off against the Phillies.
Jun 24 2024Gordon went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's win over the Mariners. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old capped a four-run first inning for the Marlins with a shot to right field off Bryce Miller. The homer was Gordon's seventh of the season but his first in June, and even with Sunday's performance he's slashing just .205/.217/.341 on the month with a 1:11 BB:K in 16 games.
Jun 21 2024Gordon is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon will give way to Bryan De La Cruz in left field despite a right-hander being on the mound for Seattle. It'll be the fifth time in nine games that Gordon isn't starting.
Jun 16 2024Gordon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Gordon will sit for the fourth time in five games, with the Marlins having faced left-handed starting pitchers on each of those four occasions. He'll cede his spot in the lineup to Emmanuel Rivera as the Marlins stock up on an extra right-handed bat to counter Nationals southpaw Mitchell Parker.
Jun 14 2024Gordon is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Left-hander MacKenzie Gore is the Nationals' starting pitcher for this one, so the lefty-hitting Gordon will take a seat. Bryan De La Cruz is in left field.
Jun 12 2024Gordon is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon has yet to make a start versus a left-hander this season and will begin Wednesday's game on the bench as the Mets send southpaw David Peterson to the bump. Bryan De La Cruz will replace Gordon in left field.
Jun 7 2024Gordon is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Guardians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon won't face southpaw Logan Allen on Friday for the series opener against Cleveland. Bryan De La Cruz, Jazz Chisholm and Dane Myers will patrol the outfield from left to right.
Jun 2 2024Gordon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Gordon will get a break as Texas sends southpaw Andrew Heaney to the bump for the series finale. Bryan De La Cruz will pick up the start in left field in place of Gordon.
May 29 2024Gordon went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 9-1 win over San Diego. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon had gone just 1-for-15 with no stolen bases in seven games coming into Wednesday's contest. He's now slashing .230/.260/.374 on the year with five homers, 18 RBI and 15 runs scored while going 5-for-7 in stolen base attempts. Gordon should continue to serve as the Marlins' primary left fielder against right-handed pitching.
May 25 2024Gordon isn't in the Marlins' lineup Saturday against the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With left-hander Jordan Montgomery set to take the mound for the D-backs, the lefty-hitting Gordon will step out of the lineup. While he sits, Bryan De La Cruz, Jazz Chisholm and Dane Myers will start across the Marlins' outfield.
May 7 2024Gordon went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old outfielder took Walker Buehler deep in the top of the second inning to briefly tie the game at 3-3, but Los Angeles took the lead for good in the bottom of the frame. Gordon has gone yard in back-to-back games and is up to five homers on the year in only 32 games -- a surprising power display for a player whose career high is nine home runs in 138 games, set in 2022. The rest of Gordon's numbers are far less impressive, and he's slashing .212/.244/.424 with nine runs, 16 RBI and only one steal in two attempts.
May 5 2024Gordon went 4-for-4 with a three-run homer, a double, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's win over Oakland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon was perfect at the plate Sunday, starting with his three-run jack in the first inning. Since his last multi-hit performance April 20, he'd been stuck in a 3-for-26 slump over 12 games. His homer Sunday was his fourth of the year and first since April 14. Gordon bumped his slash line to .207/.241/.390 with seven extra-base hits and 15 RBI through 87 plate appearances.
May 2 2024Gordon is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Gordon usually exits the lineup when the Marlins oppose southpaws, but he'll hit the bench Thursday with a right-hander (Peter Lambert) taking the hill for Colorado. Gordon's move to the bench comes while he's gone 2-for-30 at the dish over his last 10 games, dropping his batting average to .167 for the season. Dane Myers will get the start in left field Thursday, and he could soon displace Gordon as the Marlins' preferred option at the position if Gordon's struggles at the dish continue.
Apr 28 2024Gordon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Gordon will stay on the bench for the second game in a row while the Marlins face another southpaw (Patrick Corbin) on Sunday. Bryan De La Cruz will step in for Gordon in left field and will bat second.
Apr 27 2024Gordon isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon will retreat to the dugout as the Nationals prepare to send left-hander Mitchell Parker to the mound to start Saturday's contest. Gordon's absence will move Bryan De La Cruz into left field while Josh Bell serves as the DH and Emmanuel Rivera starts at first base.
Apr 20 2024Gordon isn't in the Marlins' lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Marlins will face left-hander Shota Imanaga in Game 2, so the lefty-hitting Gordon will step out of the lineup. Bryan De La Cruz will man left field while Gordon sits, moving Josh Bell into DH duties, Emmanuel Rivera over to first base and Otto Lopez in at third.
Apr 15 2024Gordon went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's loss to Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old took Dylan Lee deep in the sixth inning, giving Miami a 7-5 lead that would slip away late. Gordon's shown some surprising pop to begin the season in a part-time role, and while he's batting just .222 (6-for-27), four of his hits have gone for extra bases including three long balls. His career high is only nine homers, set over 138 games with the Twins in 2022.
Apr 13 2024Gordon isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Saturday's game versus Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Left-handed starter Chris Sale will begin Saturday's contest on the mound for Atlanta, meaning the lefty-hitting Gordon will start on the bench. Emmanuel Rivera will fill the opening in Miami's lineup, batting seventh and starting at third base.
Apr 12 2024Gordon is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With Atlanta left-hander Max Fried taking the mound Friday, Gordon will once again take a seat while Bryan De La Cruz shifts to left field and Emmanuel Rivera bats in the seventh spot. Gordon is slashing .217/.269/.522 with two home runs and seven RBI over 26 plate appearances to start the season.
Apr 8 2024Gordon is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon has a .750 OPS through 20 plate appearances but will once again take a seat Monday since lefty (Nestor Cortes) is starting for the Yankees. Bryan De La Cruz will shift to designated hitter, allowing Emmanuel Rivera to start at the hot corner.
Apr 6 2024Gordon isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Saturday's game against the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Gordon will retreat to the bench Saturday as the Cardinals send lefty Steven Matz to the mound to start the game. Bryan De La Cruz will move to left field while Gordon sits, allowing Emmanuel Rivera to enter the lineup and bat eighth.
Apr 2 2024Gordon is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels, Christina De Nicola of MLB.comreports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon continues to start exclusively against right-handed pitching, though he did come off the bench Sunday and deliver a pinch-hit homer. Bryan De La Cruz will move to left field while Jonah Bride takes Gordon's spot in the lineup.
Apr 1 2024Gordon belted a pinch-hit solo home run off David Bednar in Sunday's extra-inning loss to Pittsburgh. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Stepping to the plate for catcher Nick Fortes in the ninth inning and the Marlins down a run, Gordon got hold of a hanging splitter from the Pirates' closer and drove it over the fence in right field. The 28-year-old has appeared in three of Miami's first four games, starting two of them in left field, but he's only collected six total at-bats and seems stuck in a strict platoon role. Gordon's homer Sunday was his first hit of the season, and he's struck out three times.
Mar 31 2024Gordon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon has two starts against right-handed pitchers but will hit the bench Sunday with lefty Bailey Falter on the mound for Pittsburgh. Bryan De La Cruz will shift to left field from designated hitter, but it's effectively Vidal Brujan replacing Gordon in the lineup.
Mar 29 2024Gordon is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon started in left field Thursday and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout, but he'll hit the bench Friday with southpaw Martin Perez on the mound for Pittsburgh. Bryan De La Cruz will take over in left field while Josh Bell receives a turn at designated hitter.
Mar 28 2024Gordon will start in left field and bat eighth in Thursday's season opener against the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon had a solid spring and ultimately gets the starting nod over Avisail Garcia on Opening Day. The 28-year-old missed most of the 2023 season due to injury, but he showed some promise in 2022 and might prove to be a sneaky fantasy asset if he can carve out a regular role.
Mar 20 2024Gordon got the start in right field and went 1-for-2 in Tuesday's split-squad game against the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old has looked good in his first spring with the Marlins, batting .306 (11-for-36) while going 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts. Gordon is expected to fill a utility role this season as part of a speedy, versatile Miami bench that will likely also include Jon Berti and Vidal Brujan. Gordon struggled at the plate for Minnesota last year with a .504 OPS in 93 plate appearances before seeing his season end in May due to a broken leg, but in a nearly full-time role in 2022, he slashed .272/.316/.427.
Feb 11 2024The Twins traded Gordon to the Marlins on Sunday in exchange for relief pitcher Steven Okert, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon will head to Miami after spending the first three seasons of his major-league career with Minnesota. The 28-year-old appeared in 34 games with the Twins in 2023, producing a disappointing .176 batting average with eight extra-base hits over 91 at-bats. He'll look to carve out a more significant role with the Marlins this season.
Feb 10 2024Gordon will make $900,000 in 2024 after losing his arbitration case to the Twins on Saturday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon entered arbitration looking for $1.25 million. The outfielder had just 93 plate appearances last season due to suffering a right tibia fracture May 17. He nursed the injury for the rest of the season, which included a rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul.
Sep 12 2023Gordon (tibia) will begin a rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A St. Paul, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon has been out since May 17, so he may require a longer rehab assignment than the typical position player. Once activated, Gordon will likely occupy a supporting role, serving as a backup infielder while getting some starts in center field.
Aug 26 2023Gordon (tibia) was spotted shagging flyballs in center field during batting practice Friday prior to the Twins' game against the Rangers, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon continues to incorporate more baseball activities into his rehab regimen but the Twins haven't yet mapped out a potential rehab assignment for him yet. The 27-year-old has been sidelined since mid-May with a right tibia fracture.
Aug 16 2023Gordon (lower leg) will begin "ground-based running" this week, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon is still aiming to return this season, but he's still likely several weeks away from a rehab assignment. He's returning from a right tibia fracture suffered on May 17.
Jul 24 2023Gordon (lower leg) is expected to begin baseball activities next week, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon continues his rehab from a right tibia fracture and notably shed his cast earlier in the month. He'll take yet another step forward within the next week by gaining clearance for baseball activities. Gordon will need some time to ramp up his activities before ultimately going out on a rehab assignment, at which point he'll likely need a healthy diet of at-bats prior to being activated from the 60-day injured list. A more exact timetable for his return should come into focus once he gets the green light for live at-bats.
Jul 5 2023Gordon is no longer wearing a boot or a cast on his fractured right tibia, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon is able to walk around normally now but has not been cleared to start running, nor is he sure about a potential timetable for a return. The utility player has been sidelined since mid-May.
May 29 2023The Twins transferred Gordon (lower leg) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The transaction opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for infielder Royce Lewis (knee) -- who was activated from the 60-day IL on Monday -- and confirms that Gordon will miss at least two months due to the fractured right tibia he suffered May 17. The Twins haven't specified that Gordon will require surgery, so the 27-year-old looks like he'll still have a chance to return to action at some point during the second half of the season. Before getting hurt, Gordon had been seeing steady playing time in center field, but he'll likely see lighter usage while serving as more of a roving utility man whenever he's deemed ready to return from the IL.
May 19 2023Gordon was placed on the 15-day injured list by the Twins on Friday with a right tibia fracture. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon suffered the unfortunate injury when he fouled a ball off his leg during Wednesday's loss to the Dodgers. While the Twins have not offered a timetable for the utility player's return, clearly it's going to be quite a while.
May 17 2023Gordon has been diagnosed with a fractured right shin, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon suffered the injury when he fouled a ball off his shin during the fifth inning of Wednesday's loss to the Dodgers. He's headed to the injured list, although it's not clear at this point how much time he might miss. Gordon had been seeing increased playing time in center field of late, but now those starts should go back to Michael Taylor.
May 16 2023Gordon is not in the starting lineup against the Dodgers on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon has become a regular in the Minnesota lineup as of late, but he'll get Tuesday off with Michael Taylor earning a start in center field against Clayton Kershaw.
May 11 2023Gordon is starting in center field and batting sixth for the Twins on Thursday against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon mostly played second base early on this season when Jorge Polanco was sidelined, but each of his last seven starts have come in center field. He's struggled to get going at the plate this season, although both of his home runs have come in his last 10 games.
May 3 2023Gordon went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in a loss to the White Sox on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon hit his second homer in as many games when he took Dylan Cease deep in the fourth inning. The sudden power surge is surprising given that Gordon had no homers in his first 20 games of the season. It's been an interesting campaign for the utility man, as he's dropped his strikeout rate dramatically to a minuscule 6.6 percent (down from 23.7 percent last season) but has worked just one walk while slashing .153/.167/.322 over 61 plate appearances.
Apr 30 2023Gordon started in center field and went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored in Sunday's 8-4 victory over the Royals. He's hitting .127 (7-for-55) with no home runs this season. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon also had a key safety squeeze bunt to drive in a run. It was just the second time he's played in the last eight games. He's lost playing time amid a slow April at the plate and with Joey Votto and Trevor Larnach off to strong starts. Gordon at least showed some signs of life Sunday so that he can maybe be more of a factor off the bench.
Apr 5 2023Gordon is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon is one of three lefty-hitting lineup regulars who will take a seat Wednesday versus Miami southpaw Jesus Luzardo, with Joey Gallo and Max Kepler (knee) joining him on the bench. Kyle Farmer will fill in at second base for Gordon, who is sitting for the first time this season after going 1-for-14 with a run scored through the Twins' first five games.
Mar 31 2023Gordon started at second base and went 0-for-2 in Thursday's season-opening win at Kansas City. He was lifted in the sixth inning for pinch hitter Kyle Farmer. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon looks set to be the primary second basement on the the strong side of a platoon while Jorge Polanco is on the injured list. It may be a month or more before Polanco returns, so Gordon could be set for significant playing time early in the season.
Mar 16 2023Gordon (ankle) is starting at second base and batting fifth for the Twins in Thursday's Grapefruit League game versus the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon wound up being sidelined a little shy of two weeks with a high ankle sprain, which is a pretty swift recovery. Barring any setbacks, he'll be ready to roll on Opening Day and could receive close to everyday playing time while bouncing around to different positions.
Mar 14 2023Gordon (ankle) expects to start at second base during the Twins' Grapefruit League game versus the Rays on Thursday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon's recovery from a high-ankle sprain seems to be moving along a little more quickly than expected, putting him on track to be ready for Opening Day as long as he can avoid setbacks. The 27-year-old should receive close to everyday playing time in 2023 as he bounces around the diamond.
Mar 13 2023Gordon (ankle) took part in fielding drills and took batting practice Monday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon didn't appear to be doing much lateral movement in the field while he works his way back from a left high-ankle sprain, but his activity Monday represents a nice step forward in his recovery nonetheless. He's also been able to do some hitting and running lately without issues. It's not clear when Gordon might be ready to re-enter the Grapefruit League lineup, but he wouldn't appear to be too far off.
Mar 11 2023Gordon (ankle) has begun his hitting and throwing progressions without issues, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon suffered a mild-to-moderate left high ankle sprain in early March, placing his Opening Day availability in some doubt. His exact timeline is not yet clear, but he's taking steps in the right direction.
Mar 3 2023Gordon was diagnosed Friday with a mild-to-moderate left high ankle sprain, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon suffered the injury on a play in the infield during Friday afternoon's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox. X-rays turned up negative for any fractures, but he was in a walking boot and using crutches as he left the Twins' clubhouse in Florida. The 27-year-old will be held out at least through the weekend, per manager Rocco Baldelli, and this could very well turn into a multi-week absence from exhibition action.
Feb 17 2023Gordon will get work at every position but catcher and pitcher this spring, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: That includes first base, a position Gordon has yet to play at the professional level. That's notable, because the Twins are counting on the injury-prone Alex Kirilloff at that spot. The 27-year-old Gordon took a nice step forward in 2022, slashing .272/.316/.427 with nine home runs and six stolen bases over 136 games. Gordon also put up solid Statcast numbers, boasting an average exit velocity in the 80th percentile. He might not have a set starting job, but Gordon could be a near-everyday player in a super-utility role.
Sep 30 2022Gordon isn't starting Friday against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon will get a breather after he went 2-for-16 with a double, three RBI and six strikeouts over the last four games. Jermaine Palacios is taking over at the keystone and batting eighth.
Sep 24 2022Gordon isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon started the last five games and went 6-for-18 with a home run, two doubles, three runs, three RBI and four strikeouts. Jake Cave will start in left field while Jermaine Palacios starts at second base Saturday.
Sep 20 2022Gordon went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Four of Gordon's last six hits have gone for extra bases (two home runs, two doubles). The 26-year-old is hitting .303 (20-for-66) in September with three homers, five doubles, 11 RBI and five runs scored, though he's gone quiet on the basepaths after logging three steals in August. For the season, he's slashing .283/.329/.453 with nine homers, 43 RBI, 40 runs scored, 26 doubles and six steals in 126 contests.
Sep 18 2022Gordon is not in Sunday's lineup against the Guardians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon, who homered in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader, is hitting .259 with two home runs, nine RBI and four runs scored in 16 games this month. Jake Cave, Gilberto Celestino and Matt Wallner will start in the outfield from left to right.
Sep 17 2022Gordon went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a sacrifice fly, a walk and a sacrifice fly in a 7-6 extra-innings loss to the Guardians in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon played all 24 innings of baseball Saturday at second base, going 1-for-3 in the matinee before a more adventurous nightcap. His two-run homer in the eighth inning tied the game at 5-5, and he added a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the 13th, though the Twins weren't able to protect that lead. The 26-year-old has hit safely in 11 of his last 13 games, going 14-for-48 (.292) in that span. He's up to a .276/.321/.435 slash line with eight homers, 41 RBI, 39 runs scored, six stolen bases, 24 doubles and four triples through 123 contests overall.
Sep 16 2022Gordon was removed from Friday's loss to the Guardians with a bruised left big toe, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and exited the contest after fouling a pitch off his toe. The 26-year-old already had X-rays come back negative and should be considered day-to-day.
Sep 2 2022Gordon went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Friday's 4-3 loss to the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon opened the scoring with a two-run double in the first inning and added an RBI groundout in the eighth. He accounted for all of the Twins' run production Friday, and he's racked up an impressive 11 RBI over his last three contests. The versatile 26-year-old is up to a .279/.322/.440 slash line with six home runs, 35 RBI, 35 runs scored, six stolen bases and 22 doubles through 323 plate appearances. Gordon figures to continue filling in at second base while Jorge Polanco (kneecap) is out.
Aug 30 2022Gordon went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and six RBI in Tuesday's 10-5 victory over the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon had a huge day at the dish Tuesday as he set a career high with six RBI. Four of those runs came on a huge grand slam off Ryan Brasier in the bottom of the fifth to put the Twins up 7-4. The home run was Gordon's sixth of the season, and the big day raised his slash line to .276/.321/.431 over 315 plate appearances this season.
Aug 24 2022Gordon is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Astros. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon will get a day off after he went 3-for-12 with a double and an RBI while starting the last four games. Tim Beckham will draw the start in left field and bat seventh against the Astros.
Aug 19 2022Gordon is out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon will head to the bench after going 4-for-14 with two doubles and three RBI while starting the past four games. Gilberto Celestino will start in left field and bat seventh Friday.
Aug 17 2022Gordon went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's 9-0 win over the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon had gone without an RBI in his last seven games before breaking through in the bottom of the seventh with a two-out run-scoring double. He plated another run an inning later on an RBI single and now enters Wednesday's series finale with a .742 OPS on the season. He'll start in left field for the fourth consecutive game and will bat ninth Wednesday.
Aug 13 2022Gordon went 0-for-1 with a stolen base in Saturday's 5-3 extra-innings loss to the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon got aboard on a fielder's choice and stole second in the 10th inning, but Max Kepler struck out one at-bat later to end the Twins' threat of a rally. With Kepler and Byron Buxton over their recent injuries, Gordon has been left to compete with Jake Cave and Gilberto Celestino for no more than two spots in the lineup on a daily basis. Through 91 contests, Gordon is slashing a solid .276/.323/.424 with six steals, five home runs, 20 RBI and 30 runs scored.
Aug 12 2022Gordon will sit Friday against the Angels, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon started each of the Twins' first nine games in August, hitting .379 with a homer and a pair of steals over that stretch. He'll hit the bench Friday as Gilberto Celestino starts in left field and Byron Buxton gets the nod in center.
Aug 6 2022Gordon went 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon was involved in a scary collision with Blue Jays reliever Tim Mayza, who left the game with a dislocated shoulder. Gordon was able to stay in and played the full game in center field. He's made himself valuable to the Twins with Byron Buxton battling nagging injuries lately -- Gordon has hit safely in eight of his last nine games, going 14-for-27 (.519) in that span. The outfielder has a .284/.333/.440 slash line, five steals, five home runs, 20 RBI and 29 runs scored through 254 plate appearances. He should still have a regular path to playing time with Alex Kirilloff (wrist) and Trevor Larnach (abdomen) sidelined, leaving left field wide open as well as center when Buxton needs rest.
Aug 5 2022Gordon went 3-for-5 with a three-home run, an additional run scored and a double in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon has hit a double in six of his last eight games, and he's batted .500 (12-for-24) in that span. His homer Friday was his first since July 2 and his fifth of the season. With the Twins' outfield still battling numerous injury absences, Gordon should continue to get chances to play. He's slashing .279/.327/.437 with 20 RBI, 27 runs scored, 15 doubles, three triples and four stolen bases through 250 plate appearances.
Aug 2 2022Gordon went 3-for-4 with a double and a stolen base in Monday's 5-3 extra-inning win over the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Getting the start in center field and batting seventh, Gordon extended a brief hot streak that has seen him rap out a double in four straight games while going 7-for-12 in total. The 26-year-old utility player is slashing .272/.316/.415 in 233 plate appearances on the year with four homers, four steals, 15 RBI and 24 runs, but with the Twins' outfield looking like a triage ward at the moment, Gordon could be in line for consistent playing time in the short term unless the team adds some help at Tuesday's trade deadline.
Jul 31 2022Gordon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Though he will take a seat against San Diego southpaw Sean Manaea, the lefty-hitting Gordon should be able to maintain a near-everyday role against right-handed pitching while Alex Kirilloff (wrist) is day-to-day and with Max Kepler (toe) and Trevor Larnach (core) on the injured list. Gordon doubled in each of his last three games to bring his OPS up to .712 for the season.
Jul 27 2022Gordon will start in center field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Brewers, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon has opened the second half with three starts in four games, but that's mostly been a byproduct of fellow outfielders Byron Buxton (knee) and Max Kepler (toe) missing two games apiece. Buxton returned to the lineup for Tuesday's 7-6 loss to Milwaukee, but Kepler remains sidelined for the series finale and could be at risk of moving to the injured list if he doesn't show improvement coming out of Thursday's off day. If Kepler requires an IL stint, Gordon would be the leading candidate to fill his spot in the everyday lineup, even though the 26-year-old remains in the midst of a dry spell at the dish. Gordon has gone 0-for-18 with nine strikeouts over his last eight games.
Jul 13 2022Gordon is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Gordon will retreat to the bench with southpaw Aaron Ashby on the hill for Milwaukee, ending a streak of five consecutive starts for the versatile 26-year-old. Gordon drew starts at three different positions over that stretch and went 4-for-16 with a pair of doubles and a walk to bring his season-long slash line to .273/.317/.417 across 201 plate appearances. Though he doesn't have a direct path to a full-time job at any one position, Gordon could benefit from a quasi-everyday role while he continues to produce acceptably at the dish.
Jul 10 2022Gordon will start in center field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Rangers, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With Gary Sanchez getting a day off and Byron Buxton serving as Minnesota's designated hitter, the team will have a spot in the outfield available for Gordon, who will crack the lineup for the fourth game in a row. He's now picked up starts at three different positions over that stretch while going 2-for-11 with two doubles and two runs. Though Gordon doesn't have an everyday home at any spot, he should continue to pick up at least a handful of starts per week while manager Rocco Baldelli continues to dole out rest days to regular players every so often.
Jul 3 2022Gordon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon launched a solo shot in the seventh inning for the Twins' first score of the game. It turned out to be the first of four runs Minnesota would score late to come back and win the game. It was his second home run this week and his fifth of the year. Gordon may have earned more consistent playing time with a good performance after recording just one official at-bat in the team's previous three games. The outfielder is now slashing .263/.305/.407 for the season.
Jun 29 2022Gordon is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon started seven consecutive games in the outfield and went 5-for-22 with two home runs and three RBI before sitting out the second half of Tuesday's doubleheader. He'll now find himself on the bench for the second game in a row, and he could find himself as the odd man out of the lineup for Minnesota with Jorge Polanco having returned from the injured list. The addition of Polanco could leave fewer starts available for Alex Kirilloff at first base, in which case Kirilloff could see more time in left field at Gordon's expense.
Jun 28 2022Gordon is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader at Cleveland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon started the matinee and went 1-for-3 with walk, and he'll head to the bench for Game 2 to break a stretch of seven straight starts. Gilberto Celestino will man left field and bat ninth in the nightcap.
Jun 26 2022Gordon will start in left field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon will remain in the lineup for the fifth straight game after going 3-for-12 with a solo home run across the Twins' previous four contests. While Trevor Larnach (core) is on the 10-day injured list, Gordon looks like he'll occupy at least a strong-side platoon role in the Minnesota outfield.
Jun 23 2022Gordon went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Thursday in a 1-0 victory versus Cleveland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon smashed a 422-foot solo shot in the third inning that held up as the only run of the contest to give Minnesota the win. The long ball was just his second of the season and his first since May 29. Gordon doesn't have much power, but he's hit pretty well in June with a .289 average over 38 at-bats.
Jun 18 2022Gordon (hamstring) will start Saturday against Arizona, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon didn't appear in any of the last four games while recovering from hamstring soreness, but he's ready to go now and will give Byron Buxton the day off. Gordon has hit a mediocre .254/.296/.366 in 49 games this season.
Jun 11 2022Gordon left Saturday's game against the Rays due to right hamstring tightness, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon went 1-for-3 with a walk prior to his exit. It's not yet clear if his injury will turn out to be serious enough to require a trip to the injured list.
Jun 7 2022Gordon is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon had started in nine of the last 11 games, but he's likely to see his playing time take a hit with Max Kepler (personal) coming off the restricted list to begin the week. Though he's seen most of his time in the outfield of late, the 26-year-old has experience at both middle-infield spots, but his opportunities there could soon become scarce as well with Carlos Correa (illness) on track to return from the COVID-19-related injured list Wednesday.
Jun 2 2022Gordon went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base Thursday against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon has started five consecutive games thanks to the absences of Gilberto Celestino (illness), Carlos Correa (illness) and Royce Lewis (knee). He's been inconsistent with the opportunity, though he now has three multi-hit efforts in his last eight starts, also driving in five and scoring four runs in that span. Gordon has a .257/.288/.363 line with one home run and two stolen bases across 120 plate appearances for the season.
Jun 1 2022Gordon will start in center field and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon doesn't have a direct path to an everyday role at any one spot, but he should be in store for a solid dose of playing time while the likes of Carlos Correa (illness) and Gilberto Celestino (illness) are on the COVID-19-related injured list and while Royce Lewis (knee) is on the 10-day IL. He'll be making his fourth consecutive start Wednesday, this time filling in for a resting Byron Buxton.
May 29 2022Gordon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon started the past two games in the Minnesota outfield, going 3-for-8 with a double, three RBI and a run. Though Max Kepler (quadriceps) remains out of the lineup Sunday, the Twins brought up top prospect Royce Lewis from Triple-A St. Paul. He'll start in center field in Sunday's series finale and looks poised to get regular work out of the outfield while Kepler is out, so Gordon should find himself in a reserve role on a more permanent basis.
May 21 2022Gordon isn't starting Saturday against the Royals, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon recently drew seven straight starts, and he hit .280 with a double, a run, an RBI and a stolen base during that time. However, he'll be out of the lineup for a second consecutive game while Gilberto Celestino starts in left field and bats ninth.
May 14 2022Gordon is starting in Saturday's game against the Guardians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon saw inconsistent playing time in early May, but he'll draw a third consecutive start in left field Saturday. Trevor Larnach (groin) remains on the 10-day injured list, so Gordon should serve as the Twins' primary left fielder after Alex Kirilloff was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday.
May 1 2022Gordon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon will sit for the third time in five games and appears to have faded into more of a utility role with the recent return of Gary Sanchez (abdomen) leaving one fewer spot in the lineup available for the Twins.
Apr 24 2022Gordon will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon has been the main beneficiary of Gary Sanchez's ongoing absence due to abdominal tightness. With Sanchez sitting Sunday for the fourth game in a row, Gordon will pick up his fourth straight start, with three of them coming at different positions. He'll typically see most of his reps in the outfield if Sanchez misses more time, as Gordon's start at shortstop Sunday is a byproduct of Carlos Correa getting a routine day off.
Apr 18 2022Gordon is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Byron Buxton (knee) remains out for the third game in a row, but after starting in center field the previous two contests, the lefty-hitting Gordon will take a seat with a southpaw (Rich Hill) on the mound for Boston. Gordon should continue to see the bulk of the work in center field against right-handed pitching while Buxton is out, but at this stage, the Twins remain hopeful that Buxton will avoid a trip to the injured list.
Apr 13 2022Gordon is starting Wednesday's game against the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon had started in just one of the first five games of the regular season, and he was initially slated to sit for Wednesday's series finale against the Dodgers. However, he'll join the starting lineup after Alex Kirilloff (wrist) was placed on the 10-day injured list. Gordon will start in left field and bat ninth, and he should compete with Trevor Larnach for playing time in the outfield while Kirilloff is on the IL.
Apr 6 2022Manager Rocco Baldelli said Wednesday that Gordon (head) should be ready for Friday's season opener against the Mariners, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon passed concussion testing after his outfield collision in Monday's Grapefruit League game. He didn't appear to be in line for a lengthy absence, and he'll ultimately be available once the regular season gets underway Friday. Gordon slashed .333/.385/.583 with a home run, a triple, a double, nine RBI, five runs and a stolen base across 11 spring appearances, and he's in line to play a depth role to begin the 2022 campaign.
Apr 4 2022Gordon was diagnosed with a head contusion following his removal from Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The initial diagnosis is favorable for Gordon, who passed concussion testing and avoided any lower- or upper-body damage during his outfield collision with teammate Max Kepler that resulted in the former being carted off the field. Gordon is viewed as day-to-day with what the Twins are terming as a minor headache, but assuming he avoids concussion symptoms in the days to come, he should be available off the bench for Thursday's Opening Day game against the Mariners.
Apr 3 2022Gordon started in left field and went 1-for-3 with a walk in Sunday's spring training win over Baltimore. He's hitting .333 (8-for-24) with a stolen base this spring. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon looks set to make the major-league roster in a utility role with Tim Beckham sent to the minors. Gordon hit just .240 with a .774 OPS last season as he struck out too often (25.5%) and drew too few walks (5.5%) for a player lacking significant power. He did steal 10 bases, however, which should give him some fantasy value even in a reserve role.
Sep 24 2021Gordon went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional RBI in Thursday's win over Toronto. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon has two three-hit performances over his last three games, and he also extended his hitting streak to five contests. The shortstop is ending the season on a strong note and is hitting .362 across 47 at-bats this month.
Sep 21 2021Gordon went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Tuesday's victory versus the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After making his past three appearances at shortstop, Gordon took over in left field and batted out of the seventh spot in the order Tuesday. He was one of three Twins batters to finish with three hits, and his fourth-inning two-run homer was the team's only long ball of the game. To put a cap on his standout offensive performance, Gordon swiped his ninth bag of the campaign in the ninth inning. The 25-year-old has three multi-hit games in September and is batting .333 (13-for-39) with two homers, nine RBI and four steals this month.
Sep 15 2021Gordon will start at shortstop and bat seventh Wednesday against Cleveland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With shortstop Andrelton Simmons resting for the series finale, Gordon will pick up his third start at a different position in as many days. He received the nod in left field in Tuesday's 6-3 win, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Sep 11 2021Gordon went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Saturday's 9-2 victory over the Royals. He also drew a walk. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon connected for his second homer of the season when he took Kansas City starter Brady Singer deep to center field in the second inning. Gordon later walked in the fourth inning and swiped second base, his seventh steal in eight attempts on the year. The rookie hasn't offered much with the bat through his first 56 big-league games, but he has gone 6-for-19 (.316) over his last seven contests.
Sep 5 2021Gordon went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI, one run scored and a steal in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon got started with a double and a run scored in the second inning. He later knocked an RBI single to tie the game in the ninth and added the go-ahead base hit in the ninth. It was his first multi-hit game since Aug. 24 and his first stolen base since June 12. Gordon has eight extra-base hits, 10 RBI and a .610 OPS through 148 plate appearances this season.
Aug 29 2021Gordon remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Heading into the weekend, Gordon appeared to have settled into an everyday role in center field after making seven consecutive starts, but he's been on the bench for each of the Twins' three games of its series with Milwaukee. With Byron Buxton back from the injured list and handling reps at center field on a full-time basis, Gordon is expected to see limited opportunities moving forward as a bench player for Minnesota.
Aug 24 2021Gordon will start at second base and bat seventh Tuesday against the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon remains in the lineup for the fifth straight game, after he started in center field in each of Minnesota's previous four contests. He may have supplanted Jake Cave as the Twins' preferred option in center field versus right-handed pitching, but both Gordon and Cave are merely keeping a spot warm for Byron Buxton (finger), who could be reinstated from the 10-day injured list later this week.
Aug 16 2021Gordon was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon was sent to the minors in early August, and he hit .209 with two homers, six runs, five RBI and two stolen bases across 10 games during his time at Triple-A St. Paul. He'll be available in a depth role after Trevor Larnach was sent down Monday.
Aug 5 2021Gordon was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon has appeared in 37 games for the Twins this season, slashing .250/.301/.333 with five RBI and five stolen bases. He returns to Triple-A now that Rob Refsnyder (hamstring) is back from the injured list.
Aug 4 2021Gordon started in center field and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a double in Tuesday's win over the Reds. He's in Wednesday's starting lineup against the Reds at second base and batting seventh in the order. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon has started three of Minnesota's last five games in center field as he remains in the mix for regular playing time in the outfield. After starting the season hot at the plate by hitting. .313 with five stolen bases in May and June, Gordon has cooled to hitting just .182 with no stolen bases since July 1. However, Gordon could still get regular playing time the final two months as the Twins evaluate him for 2022.
Jul 26 2021Gordon is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon went hitless across three at-bats while filling in at second base for Jorge Polanco (back) in Sunday's loss to the Angels. With Polanco back in action for Monday's series opener with Detroit, however, Gordon will head back to the bench. Prior to Sunday, Gordon's previous two starts came in center field, but Jake Cave and Gilberto Celestino could end up forming a platoon at that position until Byron Buxton (hand) or Rob Refsnyder (hamstring) returns from the injured list.
Jul 18 2021Gordon remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon had started in center field in four of the Twins' first seven games of the month, but he appears to have faded into a full-time bench role at this point. He'll be out of the lineup for the seventh game in a row, as manager Rocco Baldelli has seemingly committed to Max Kepler as the Twins' top center fielder until Byron Buxton (hand) returns from the injured list.
Jun 13 2021Gordon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rob Refsnyder's return to the starting nine after a four-game absence due to a hamstring injury looks like it will push Gordon back into a utility role. Gordon had picked up starts in the first two games of the series, going 1-for-8 with a pair of stolen bases and a run.
Jun 6 2021Gordon went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 2-1 win over Kansas City. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon picked up his third stolen base of the season and his first since swiping two bags on May 6. The rookie infielder has knocked multiple hits in two straight games and is now batting .400 through 20 at-bats.
Jun 5 2021Gordon went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 14-5 loss to the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon singled in the second and the sixth before belting a 423-foot shot to center field for the first home run of his major-league career. The 25-year-old is slashing .375/.412/.563 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases since getting called up May 23. The 2021 season is beginning to look like a lost cause for Minnesota, which could allow for Gordon to see more action while the Twins try and figure out what they have in their 2014 first-round pick.
May 23 2021The Twins recalled Gordon from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon was hitting .393 with five stolen bases in eight games at Triple-A. Just as he did during his previous stint with the Twins earlier this month, Gordon will see work as a reserve infielder. While he's unlikely to see regular starts for Minnesota, Gordon should be the Twins' top pinch-running option off the bench, which could allow him to bring value in the stolen-base category in AL-only leagues.
May 11 2021Gordon was optioned to the minors on Tuesday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon spent a week on the active roster while Luis Arraez was out with a concussion. He got into just a single game, going 1-for-2 with a pair of steals in his big-league debut. He'll return to the minors now that Arraez is healthy again.
May 4 2021Gordon was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Luis Arraez (concussion) was placed on the 7-day injured list, so Gordon will serve as a short-term bench bat. He did not appear in a game during his last three-day stint with the big club.
Apr 26 2021The Twins optioned Gordon to their alternate training site Monday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon's first stint in the big leagues lasted all of three days, and he didn't get the chance to make his MLB debut during the Twins' weekend series with the Pirates. With Minnesota bringing back everyday shortstop Andrelton Simmons from the COVID-19 injured list in a corresponding move, Gordon's playing-time outlook was unlikely to improve had he stuck around with the Twins. He'll report to the Twins' Triple-A affiliate in St. Paul, where he'll prepare for an everyday role in the middle infield when the club begins its season next week.
Apr 23 2021Gordon was promoted to Minnesota's major-league roster from the alternate training site Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 25-year-old's callup was initially reported Thursday, but he's now been officially added to the big-league club. Gordon last saw game action in 2019 with an .801 OPS at Triple-A, and his first appearance with the Twins will mark his debut in the majors.
Apr 22 2021Gordon is expected to be promoted to the Twins for their weekend series against the Pirates, Darren Wolfson of KSTP.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: If Gordon is officially called up, it will be for his major-league debut. He spent both the 2018 and 2019 seasons at Triple-A Rochester, so he has plenty of experience in the upper minors. However, Gordon isn't projected to make a big impact with his bat, as he has struck out around a 20 percent clip during his time at Rochester and has very little power.
Mar 15 2021Gordon was optioned to the minors Monday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The No. 5 overall pick from 2014 hit .200 in 10 at-bats during Grapefruit League play. He will serve as organizational infield depth this season and is not expected to see much playing time at the big-league level.
Feb 25 2021Gordon will be given a look at second base this spring as he attempts to make the roster as a utility player, Fort Myers Beach News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Gordon was sidelined for much of July and August after testing positive for COVID-19 and only worked for a few weeks at the alternate site before being shut down for the season. He's apparently healthy in camp and will try to win a reserve spot in the major league roster. When we last saw Gordon at Triple-A Rochester in 2019, Gordon showed significant improvement at the plate, but his .298/.342/.459 slash line (102 wRC+) still only translated to just above league-average production. He'll likely need to prove himself again in Triple-A before getting a shot in the majors.
Jul 19 2018Gordon is hitting .241/.262/.355 with two homers and two steals over 52 games since being promoted to Triple-A Rochester in May.While the Twins are likely to deal away an infielder or two prior to the trade deadline at the end of July, Gordon does not appear to be big-league ready at this point, which gives him a very good chance of staying at Rochester for the duration of the 2018 season. While he's not striking out a ton (18.5% K%), Gordon is walking at the lowest rate of his professional career in his first crack at the International League (2.8% BB%).
