Jun 11 2025Vesia earned the save in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Padres, striking out three in a perfect ninth inning. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After Tanner Scott faced the middle of San Diego's lineup in the eighth inning, the Dodgers turned to Vesia with a three-run lead in the ninth. The left-hander breezed through the bottom of the Padres lineup, striking out the side to lock down his third save. The 29-year-old Vesia boasts a 2.79 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP and 41:9 K:BB across 29 innings in a high-leverage role this season.
May 30 2025Vesia allowed a hit in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Friday's 8-5 win over the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia got the save chance after Tanner Scott defused a two-on, two-out situation in the eighth inning. Both pitchers struggled in their last outings Wednesday versus the Guardians, and it's at least intriguing that Vesia was called upon to handle the top of the Yankees' order, which he did successfully after pitching around Trent Grisham's leadoff single. Vesia has allowed four runs in May, all via home runs, over 10.1 innings. He's at two saves, 10 holds, a 3.24 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 35:9 K:BB through 25 innings. With Scott blowing three saves over his last five appearances, Vesia looks to be the early candidate to take over the ninth inning should manager Dave Roberts officially make a change at closer. Even if that happens, it could lead to a committee scenario, especially once Kirby Yates (hamstring) and Michael Kopech (shoulder) are ready to return.
Apr 16 2025Vesia earned a hold against Colorado on Tuesday, walking one batter in a scoreless inning. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia entered in the eighth inning and walked Ryan McMahon on seven pitches to begin his outing, but he needed only four more pitches to get out of the frame, as he induced a groundball double play and a flyout to the next two batters. The lefty reliever has been a key high-leverage part of Los Angeles' bullpen, racking up five holds and one save over 10 appearances. Vesia has posted a 14:6 K:BB along with a 2.70 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 10 innings this season.
Mar 19 2025Vesia struck out one and allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Wednesday against the Cubs in Tokyo. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Tanner Scott secured the save in Tuesday's season opener, and it was Vesia that received the call Wednesday after Kirby Yates worked the eighth inning. Vesia was one of the best relievers in baseball last season with a 1.76 ERA and 0.99 WHIP across 67 appearances while recording five saves and 14 holds, but he's unlikely to be a consistent source of saves in 2025 given the offseason additions of Scott and Yates.
Jan 29 2025The Dodgers and Vesia avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.25 million contract with a $3.55 million club option for 2026, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia had filed at $2.35 million and the Dodgers at $2.05 million earlier this month, and the two sides will now avoid a hearing. The lefty reliever had a stellar 2024 campaign, collecting a 1.76 ERA and 87:33 K:BB over 66.1 regular-season frames. The Dodgers' bullpen is loaded, but Vesia should see high-leverage opportunities again in 2025.
Oct 25 2024Vesia (ribs) was added to the Dodgers' World Series roster Friday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia was left off the NLCS roster because of a rib cage injury, but he threw a successful simulated game Wednesday which convinced the Dodgers he was healthy enough to return. The left-hander made three scoreless relief appearances during the NLDS.
Oct 24 2024Vesia (ribs) threw 15 pitches facing hitters in a simulated situation Wednesday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia is recovering from a rib cage injury, but he said he was feeling good Thursday morning. The reliever noted that his fastball may have been a mph down, but added that he will be ready to go Friday night. The left-hander seems to have made strides in recovery to make the World Series roster, but the decision still remains to be made.
Oct 22 2024Vesia (ribs) will throw against hitters Tuesday or Wednesday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia has been dealing with a rib cage injury since his early departure from Game 5 of the NLDS, but he appears to be trending in the right direction. How he feels following his upcoming throwing session will likely determine whether he is included on the Dodgers' roster for the World Series -- a decision that is expected to be made as late as possible.
Oct 13 2024Vesia (ribs) isn't included on Los Angeles' NLCS roster, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia exited Game 5 of the NLDS against the Padres due to a rib cage injury, and the issue is going to prevent him from playing during the National League Championship Series. His absence could be significant for the Dodgers, as Vesia was the team's top left-handed bullpen option during the campaign, posting a 1.76 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 87:33 K:BB over 66.1 innings while tallying five saves and 14 holds. Righty reliever Brent Honeywell (finger) is replacing Vesia on the roster for the NLCS, per Toribio. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Vesia could return if the team advances to the World Series.
Oct 12 2024Vesia (ribs) is unlikely to be available for the NLCS against the Mets, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia left Game 5 of the NLDS with an injury that has since been clarified as a rib cage issue. Manager Dave Roberts added that he hopes to have Vesia back if the Dodgers advance to the World Series, but for now, the team will be without one of its best left-handed relievers.
Oct 11 2024President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said Friday that Vesia left Game 5 of the NLDS versus San Diego due to a back injury, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia recorded the final out of the seventh inning Friday but was taken out by a trainer after his back flared up on him while warming up for the eighth frame. The southpaw is slated to undergo further evaluation over the weekend, which will provide the team with a better idea of his availability for the NLCS against the Mets.
Aug 5 2024Vesia (2-3) earned the win over Oakland on Sunday, striking out two batters in a perfect inning of work. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia entered in the seventh inning and struck out two of the three batters he faced, tossing a total of 15 pitches. The impressive frame earned him credit for the win in a contest during which starter River Ryan completed 4.2 innings. Vesia notched five saves between May 6 and July 6, but he hasn't been used in a save situation since. He remains one of the Dodgers' top high-leverage options though, and he's recorded nine holds along with the five saves while posting a 1.88 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 65:22 K:BB over 48 innings on the season.
Jul 7 2024Vesia picked up the save over the Brewers on Saturday, pitching a perfect ninth inning while striking out one. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia entered the contest with a two-run lead and went 1-2-3 through the back end of Milwaukee's lineup to earn his fifth save of the campaign. It was the lefty's first save opportunity since blowing one against the Giants on June 29, and he's now recorded a strikeout in each of his last three appearances. Vesia also hasn't allowed a hit in either of his last two outings. Primary closer Evan Phillips was deployed to face the heart of the Brewers order in the eighth inning Saturday and remains in line to receive the bulk of the save chances for Los Angeles.
Jun 24 2024Vesia struck out one batter in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save against the White Sox on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: In a somewhat surprising move, the Dodgers deployed primary closer Evan Phillips to face the heart of Chicago's order in the eighth inning. That left closing duties to Vesia, who needed just 10 pitches to slam the door on the White Sox and earn his fourth save. Monday's usage suggests that manager Dave Roberts isn't opposed to having Phillips handle the highest-leverage situations even when they come before the ninth frame, and Vesia may be the likeliest option to close in such instances. Nonetheless, Phillips is still likely to get the vast majority of save opportunities, so fantasy managers shouldn't bank on many more saves from Vesia moving forward.
Jun 14 2024Vesia allowed a hit in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Friday's 4-3 win over the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Most of the Dodgers' bullpen had pitched twice over the last three days, including regular closer Evan Phillips. The two freshest relievers were Vesia and Daniel Hudson, who earned the win after pitching the eighth inning. Vesia is on an 8.2-inning scoreless streak with a 13:1 K:BB, two saves and two holds in that span. He continues to impress this season with a 1.13 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 42:15 K:BB over 32 innings. He's up to three saves and four holds, so while he hasn't often been rewarded for his strong pitching, he's still capable of handling high-leverage assignments.
May 29 2024Vesia recorded his second save of the season in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader sweep of the Mets, striking out three and walking one in two scoreless innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daniel Hudson and Blake Treinen both pitched in the matinee, leaving closing duties to Vesia in the nightcap when the Dodgers built a 3-0 lead. The southpaw has a 0.90 ERA, 0.40 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB over 10 innings in May, but with Evan Phillips (hamstring) expected back later this week, Vesia should return to setup duties.
May 6 2024Vesia earned a save against the Marlins on Monday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: When Evan Phillips (hamstring) was placed on the injured list Sunday, there arose uncertainty about whom Dodgers manager Dave Roberts would turn to when the next save chance came up. The answer turned out to be Vesia, who has been arguably the team's best reliever (outside of Phillips) this season with a 1.56 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 20:12 K:BB over 17.1 innings. The southpaw handled the opportunity well, retiring the side in order on 13 pitches, nine of which were strikes. It's worth noting that the Marlins were due to send up two left-handed hitters among the first three batters in the frame (though both lefties were swapped for a righty pinch hitter), so that may have played into the Roberts' decision to call upon Vesia rather than a righty reliever. It's too early to assume that Vesia will be the primary closer while Phillips remains out, but he certainly appears to be in the mix for save chances along with Daniel Hudson and possibly Blake Treinen.
Jan 11 2024Vesia signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Dodgers on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia struggled on the surface in 2023 in large part due to .354 BABIP and 72.6 percent strand rate. However, he still managed a 21.7 K-BB% and should be in for a bounceback campaign in a potential high-leverage role out of the Dodgers' bullpen in 2024.
Sep 3 2023Vesia (0-5) took the loss against Atlanta on Saturday, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and one walk over 1.1 relief innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia entered with two outs in the ninth to face Matt Olson, retiring the lefty hitter on a fly out. When the game went into an extra frame, Vesia remained in the contest and initially looked like he would hold Atlanta at bay, retiring the first two batters he faced in the 10th. However, the southpaw issued a two-out walk to Sean Murphy, then served up a long three-run homer to Orlando Arcia, creating a deficit the Dodgers couldn't come back from. It was the second time since the All-Star break Vesia has allowed multiple runs in an outing, but he's been pretty effective overall during that period, posting a 3.38 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 19:5 K:BB over 18.2 innings while notching four holds.
Jul 6 2023Vesia struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was clean work for Vesia in his return to the major-league roster after two weeks at Triple-A Oklahoma City. He'd given up six runs (five earned) over 3.2 innings across his five appearances prior to getting sent down, but he was sharp in his return. Save chances are likely to be sparse for Vesia -- Evan Phillips had pitched three times between July 2-4, so he was likely getting a little extra rest. Brusdar Graterol picked up a hold in the eighth inning and Caleb Ferguson should also be in the mix for saves, which will likely keep Vesia in a middle-relief role. He has a 7.20 ERA, 2.30 WHIP and 31:12 K:BB through 20 innings this season while adding three holds and an 0-4 record.
Jun 23 2023Vesia was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday by the Dodgers, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia is removed from the 26-man active roster to make room for Phil Bickford after Bickford (back) was reinstated from the injured list. Vesia will likely be back with the Dodgers at some point this summer.
May 30 2023Los Angeles recalled Vesia from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia posted an ugly 7.84 ERA and 2.81 WHIP across 10.1 innings of relief earlier this season with the Dodgers, but he hadn't allowed an earned run over his last nine appearances at the Triple-A level. The 27-year-old left-hander will try to climb back into a prominent setup role as he returns to the big-league bullpen mix.
May 3 2023The Dodgers optioned Vesia to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Los Angeles selected Gavin Stone's contract from Triple-A in a corresponding move, with the young right-hander replacing the lefty reliever on the 26-man active roster. Vesia has posted consecutive scoreless appearances but has struggled considerably this season with a 7.84 ERA and 2.81 WHIP in 10.1 innings. The southpaw will surely get another opportunity with the Dodgers this season, but he'll need to perform significantly better to pitch in high-leverage spots like he did in 2022.
Mar 29 2023Vesia pitched in eight games for the Dodgers during Cactus League play, allowing five runs over six innings. He posted a 10:3 K:BB. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia racked up plenty of strikeouts this spring, but his ERA took a hit as a result of him serving up two homers. The lefty didn't have that problem last season, as he gave up only two long balls across 54.1 frames. Vesia was a major weapon for the Dodgers in 2022 with a 2.15 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 79:24 K:BB while recording 16 holds and two saves. He could see high-leverage work again this season and may even get a few save chances given the team's decision to go with a closer committee, at least in the early part of the campaign.
Sep 30 2022Vesia earned a hold over San Diego on Thursday by retiring both batters he faced, including one by strikeout. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After Chris Martin allowed two of the three batters he faced to reach base in the eighth inning, Vesia entered and got two outs to preserve Los Angeles' 5-2 lead. The scoreless outing was Vesia's 25th over his past 26 appearances. Over that stretch, he's posted a 38:9 K:BB while allowing just one run over 24 innings.
Sep 12 2022Vesia earned a hold against the Padres on Sunday with a perfect inning of work that included two strikeouts. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The contest became a rout late, but when Vesia entered in the sixth inning the Dodgers were ahead by only two runs. The southpaw kept things that way, throwing 13 of 15 pitches for strikes and notching a pair of punchouts. Vesia has been very impressive in his second campaign with Los Angeles, registering a 2.31 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 67:21 K:BB over 46.2 innings. He's notched 15 holds, one save and four wins.
Aug 31 2022Vesia picked up a hold against the Mets on Tuesday as a result of pitching a scoreless inning. He struck out one batter and issued one walk. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After Los Angeles took the lead in the top of the seventh, Vesia was asked to keep the Mets at bay in the bottom of the frame. He was a bit wild, throwing only eight of 17 pitches for strikes, but worked around a two-out walk to protect the lead. Vesia hasn't allowed a run since July 21. Since that time, he's racked up two wins and six holds while posting a 22:4 K:BB over 14 innings spanning 16 appearances.
Jul 23 2022Vesia (2-0) earned the win against San Francisco on Friday by retiring the only batter he faced. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With the game tied 1-1 in the eighth inning, Vesia was summoned with two outs and two runners on base to face David Villar. Vesia got Villar to ground out, and the lefty reliever earned the win as a result of Los Angeles scoring four times in the bottom of the frame. It was a nice bounce-back effort from Vesia after he allowed two runs in two-thirds of an inning against the Giants on Thursday.
Jul 7 2022Vesia earned a save against the Cubs on Thursday by striking out the only batter he faced. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Los Angeles turned to Craig Kimbrel with a three-run lead heading into the ninth inning, but the closer stumbled and allowed the winning run to come to the plate. Vesia was then called upon to put out the fire, and he struck out Nelson Velazquez on six pitches to finish off the victory. The save was Vesia's first of the campaign and second of his career. He's not a threat to usurp Kimbrel for closing duties, but the left-hander is putting together a solid season with a 3.12 ERA and seven holds along with 34 strikeouts over 26 innings.
Jun 23 2022Vesia (1-0) earned the win over the Reds on Wednesday, working a scoreless inning during which he allowed one hit and struck out two batters. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Starter Tyler Anderson went five innings for Los Angeles, and Vesia came on to replace him with the score tied in the sixth. The lefty reliever allowed a one-out single but nothing else, and he was credited with the win as a result of the Dodgers pulling ahead in the next frame. Vesia has recorded a 3.32 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 29:9 K:BB across 21.2 innings this season and has been working primarily in low- and medium-leverage situations of late.
May 29 2022Vesia earned a hold against Arizona on Saturday, allowing one walk and striking out two batters in one scoreless inning. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The left-hander handled the eighth inning for Los Angeles and protected a one-run lead despite issuing a one-out walk. Vesia has seen his high-leverage opportunities increase over the course of the season, and he has secured a hold in five of his past six outings. He's allowed only one run during that span and has held the opponent scoreless in 16 of his 18 appearances on the season.
May 4 2022Vesia retired two batters -- one by strikeout -- and did not allow any baserunners to earn a hold in Tuesday's victory against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Los Angeles carried a 2-0 lead into the seventh inning before Brusdar Graterol got into a jam that saw the Giants put the tying run on second base. Vesia was summoned to contain the threat, and he allowed a sacrifice fly before striking out Luke Williams to preserve the lead. This was the southpaw's first hold of the campaign, as he's primarily been used in lower-leverage spots thus far. Vesia has yet to allow a run through seven innings this season, and he has posted a superb 10:1 K:BB.
Apr 7 2022Vesia was one of 16 pitchers named to the Dodgers' Opening Day roster Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia's inclusion on the roster was expected following a breakthrough campaign last season during which he posted a 2.25 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 12.1 K/9. He eventually became the team's go-to left-handed reliever and finished with nine holds and one save. Vesia will likely work in a high-leverage role again as Los Angeles' top southpaw out of the bullpen in 2022.
Sep 22 2021Vesia retired the only batter he faced Tuesday against the Rockies to earn his first major-league save. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: In the top of the 10th inning, Los Angeles took a one-run lead on an RBI single by Albert Pujols. The Dodgers turned to Brusdar Graterol to open the bottom of the frame, then asked Vesia to record the final out with runners on the corners. The left-hander was successful in the opportunity, inducing a flyout to center field to end the contest. Vesia has been an excellent addition to the Dodgers bullpen, posting a 2.45 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, three wins, eight holds and a 49:19 K:BB across 36.2 innings. He has not allowed an earned run in his past eight appearances.
Sep 8 2021Vesia (3-1) earned the win over the Cardinals on Tuesday, retiring the only batter he faced via strikeout. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Dodgers deployed nine different relievers as part of a planned bullpen game, with Vesia -- the only one among the group to not toss at least a full inning -- landing in the fortunate position to pick up the win. The left-hander couldn't have done much better in his brief opportunity, striking out Matt Carpenter on three pitches to end a two-on, two-out threat. Vesia has been outstanding over his past 25 appearances, posting a 1.09 ERA, 0.57 WHIP and 31:6 K:BB across 24.2 frames.
Sep 5 2021Vesia earned a hold against the Giants on Saturday by retiring the only batter he faced via strikeout. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The southpaw was called upon to face Mauricio Dubon with two outs and a runner on second base in the sixth inning. Vesia struck out Dubon swinging on five pitches to earn the hold. He has ascended to a higher-leverage role over the course of the campaign, notching a hold in four of his past eight appearances. Overall, Vesia has posted a 2.73 ERA, 0.88 ERA and 42:17 K:BB across 33 innings during his first extensive opportunity as a big-leaguer.
Aug 1 2021Vesia (1-1) earned the win over Arizona on Saturday, pitching a scoreless inning during which he gave up one hit. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The southpaw came into the contest with scored tied 3-3 in the sixth inning. He gave up a one-out single but faced the minimum by subsequently inducing a double play. The Dodgers put up four runs in the top of the seventh, giving Vesia his first win as a major-leaguer. In 19 appearances with the big club this season, Vesia has registered a 3.48 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 24:13 K:BB across 20.2 innings.
Jul 9 2021The Dodgers recalled Vesia from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty has posted a 1.00 ERA in nine innings of relief with the Triple-A squad after being sent down June 3. Vesia's work with the Dodgers earlier this season was less impressive, as he yielded seven runs, including three home runs, in just 10.2 innings. He'll fill the roster spot of Jimmy Nelson (back), whom the Dodgers placed on the 10-day IL on Friday.
Jun 3 2021Vesia was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia has thrown 10.2 innings of relief for the Dodgers this season but hasn't had much success. His 33.3 percent strikeout rate is strong but hasn't been nearly enough to offset his 22.9 percent walk rate and a shockingly low 10.0 percent groundball rate. The left-hander's 5.91 ERA could be much higher if not for a .059 BABIP.
May 18 2021Vesia was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 25-year-old was optioned to Triple-A on Monday, but it was a short absence with Garrett Cleavinger (forearm) landing on the injured list. Vesia has given up five runs (three earned) with a 7:5 K:BB through four innings this season.
May 17 2021Vesia was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia made three relief appearances during his stint in the majors and allowed five runs (three earned) on a hit and five walks while striking out seven in four innings. His removal from the major-league roster was part of a transaction to make room for Albert Pujols and Yoshi Tsutsugo.
May 2 2021Vesia (0-1) took the loss against Milwaukee on Saturday, completing one inning and allowing four runs (two earned) on four walks while striking out two. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The left-hander was recalled from the team's alternate training site earlier in the day and was promptly put into a pressure situation, getting the call in the 10th inning with LA up by a run. Vesia walked the first two batters he faced before yielding a run on a sacrifice fly, but he was able to prevent further damage by striking out the final batter of the frame. After the Dodgers got two runs in the top of the 11th, Vesia returned for the bottom of the frame and again walked the first two batters before he was replaced. Overall, the 25-year-old threw only 14 of 34 pitches for strikes, which is certainly not a recipe for success.
May 1 2021Vesia was recalled by the Dodgers on Saturday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia spent one day on the major-league roster in mid-April and did not get into a game. He'll take the spot that had belonged to Edwin Uceta, who was optioned in a corresponding move.
Apr 18 2021The Dodgers optioned Vesia to their taxi squad Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia's demotion clears a spot in the Dodgers bullpen for Brusdar Graterol (conditioning), who was activated from the injured list ahead of Sunday's series finale in San Diego. The 25-year-old lefty was up with the Dodgers for only one day and didn't appear in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Padres.
Apr 17 2021Vesia will be recalled by the Dodgers ahead of Saturday's game against the Padres, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Dodgers used six relievers during Friday's 12-inning win over San Diego, so Vesia will be available as bullpen depth Saturday. Vesia made five relief appearances for the Marlins in 2020 and allowed nine runs on seven hits and seven walks while striking out five in 4.1 innings. He should serve as a low-leverage reliever in the big leagues and could be sent back to the team's alternate training site once the Dodgers' bullpen is fully rested.
Mar 15 2021The Dodgers optioned Vesia to their minor-league camp Monday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia, whom the Dodgers acquired in February, will likely report to Triple-A Oklahoma City or Double-A Tulsa as he begins his career with a new organization. The 24-year-old got the chance to make his MLB debut for the COVID-19-depleted Marlins in 2020, posting an 18.69 ERA over his five appearances out of the bullpen.
Aug 29 2020Vesia (undisclosed) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Marlins never provided reasoning for Vesia's trip to the injured list, but the young left-hander was officially activated ahead of the team's game against the Rays on Saturday and should find himself pitching in low-leverage scenarios moving forward.
Aug 2 2020Vesia was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday for an undisclosed reason, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Marlins provided no reason for the transaction, and it's unclear whether Vesia's absence is related to the team's ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. The southpaw took a loss in his MLB debut in the team's second game of the season, and the length of his stay on the injured list remains to be seen. The Marlins added pitchers James Hoyt and Brian Moran in corresponding moves.
Jul 26 2020Vesia (0-1) gave up two runs on a hit and a walk while striking out one over 0.2 innings Saturday to take the loss against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Making his big-league debut, the southpaw got taken deep by Phil Gosselin to break open a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning. Vesia is one of three lefties in the Marlins' bullpen, and given that this was his first career appearance above Double-A, he may not see many high-leverage spots.
Jul 22 2020Vesia will be included on the Marlins' Opening Day roster, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vesia fired 16.1 scoreless frames at Double-A Jacksonville last season and has never seen Triple-A action, but he'll make the jump to the majors to begin 2020. The 24-year-old is likely to fill a low-leverage role until establishing himself as a reliable option.
