Jun 29 2023Daza is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery on his left shoulder next week, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza was pushed off the 40-man roster in Colorado back in early May and injured his shoulder this past Sunday while playing in a game for Triple-A Albuquerque. If it's a labrum repair, he might struggle to get back to full health before the beginning of the 2024 campaign. The 29-year-old will be arbitration-eligible this winter.
May 5 2023Daza was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This move clears out a 40-man roster spot for catcher Austin Wynns, who was claimed off waivers from the Dodgers on Thursday and will become the Rockies' new backup catcher beginning Friday. Daza can cover all three outfield spots, but the 29-year-old holds a career .683 OPS at the MLB level. He's hit only four home runs across 924 total big-league plate appearances.
May 2 2023Daza (hand) remains out of the lineup Tuesday against the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza hasn't started a game in over a week due to a sore left hand, though he did appear off the bench Saturday and Sunday versus the Diamondbacks. Brenton Doyle is covering center field and Randal Grichuk is in right field Tuesday against Milwaukee.
Apr 30 2023Daza (hand) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza hasn't picked up a start since last Sunday in Philadelphia due to a sore left hand, but he was able to make a cameo off the bench as a pinch hitter in Saturday's 11-4 loss, going hitless in his lone plate appearance. Though he looks on track to avoid a stint on the injured list even though he has yet to return to the lineup, Daza may be viewed as the Rockies' fourth outfielder at this point following Randal Grichuk's recent return from the IL.
Apr 28 2023Daza (hand) isn't starting Friday against the Diamondbacks, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Friday marks the fourth consecutive start Daza has missed since getting hit in the hand by a pitch Sunday. While Daza continues to recover, Brenton Doyle will take his spot in center field and bat eighth.
Apr 5 2023Daza went 2-for-4 with a double in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza reached base in his first two plate appearances of the night, recording his first double of the season off Julio Urias in the top of the first inning and then reaching on a bunt single in the third. At least until Randal Grichuk (groin) is ready to come off the injured list, Daza looks like he'll have a clear path to a near-everyday role in center field.
Apr 3 2023Daza is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Harold Castro will draw the start in center field while Daza sits for the first time during the 2023 campaign. Daza went 3-for-17 with a run scored and a stolen base during the Rockies' season-opening four-game series at San Diego.
Mar 31 2023Daza went 2-for-5 with a stolen base Friday against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza has led off in each of the Rockies' first two games this season, though he's reached base only three times in 10 at-bats while striking out four times. More positively, he tallied a two-out single in the seventh inning Friday and went on to steal second base prior to being stranded. Daza's aggressiveness on the basepaths stands in contrast to last year when he attempted only three stolen bases and was caught on each occasion.
Oct 5 2022Daza isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza has had an everyday role for the Rockies for most of the last month, and he's hit .279 with a triple, two doubles, three runs, three RBI, three walks and eight strikeouts over his last 11 games. However, he'll remain on the bench for a second consecutive matchup while Sean Bouchard starts in left field and bats second during Wednesday's season finale.
Oct 4 2022Daza isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After his five-game hitting streak was broken Monday, Daza will get a breather Tuesday. Sean Bouchard will take his spot in left field and bat second.
Sep 24 2022Daza went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI on Friday against San Diego. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza had the opportunity to lead off with Ryan McMahon on the bench. He delivered a two-RBI triple in the fourth inning, which put the Rockies up 3-2. Since coming off the injured list Sept. 6, Daza has hit .357 with one home run, nine RBI and 13 runs scored across 14 games. He's been locked into everyday playing time, which should continue so long as Kris Bryant (foot) remains sidelined.
Sep 21 2022Daza isn't starting Wednesday against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza has been a regular presence in the Rockies' lineup recently but will get a breather after he went 1-for-13 with a double, five runs, an RBI, two walks and three strikeouts over the last three games. Sean Bouchard is starting in left field and batting ninth.
Sep 14 2022Daza went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's win over the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza singled in the first inning before he ripped an RBI base knock in the second frame, driving in teammate Alan Trejo. The outfielder has now produced multiple hits in six out of seven games since returning from the injured list Sept. 6, batting .444 with a home run, three doubles, six RBI and eight runs scored over those contests. Daza now owns a .312/.359/.393 slash line over 97 games this season.
Sep 6 2022Daza went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, an RBI double, a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's extra-innings victory over the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Making his return the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Daza went off. The outfielder launched a three-run home run off Luis Perdomo in the bottom of the eighth inning and later ripped a game-tying RBI double in the 10th frame before coming around to score on a Randal Grichuk walk-off blast. The long ball was his second of the season and first since July 23. Since the All-Star break, Daza is batting .327 with two homers, nine RBI and eight runs over 55 at-bats in 17 games.
Sep 5 2022Daza (shoulder) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday and has gone 4-for-12 with a walk, three runs and an RBI through his first three contests. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza has picked up two starts in center field and one as a designated hitter thus far during the assignment, and he could be ready to make his next appearance with the Rockies. According to Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette, Daza was cleared to return to Colorado this weekend rather than remaining on assignment with Albuquerque, signaling that the big club is comfortable with where he stands in his recovery from the dislocated left shoulder that has kept him on the shelf since Aug. 12. Prior to getting hurt, Daza had been filling a near-everyday role in the Colorado outfield, but it's unclear if he'll play extensively once he's activated from the 10-day IL. The Rockies are currently giving looks to rookies Sean Bouchard and Michael Toglia in the outfield alongside Randal Grichuk, Charlie Blackmon and Garrett Hampson while Kris Bryant (foot) remains without a clear timeline for a return.
Aug 23 2022Daza (shoulder) said Tuesday that he doesn't think he'll be ready to resume swinging a bat until next week, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Though Daza noted that his dislocated left shoulder is continuing to heal day by day, he's not recovering at a quick enough rate to return from the 10-day injured list this week when he's first eligible. Since Daza will likely need to take batting practice and complete a brief minor-league rehab assignment prior to being activated, he's unlikely to rejoin the Rockies until early September at the soonest.
Aug 12 2022Daza was placed on the 10-day injured list with a dislocated left shoulder Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza left Thursday's game against the Cardinals with a shoulder injury but said after the matchup that he hoped to avoid a trip to the injured list. He'll be forced to miss at least a week and a half after being diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder, while Garrett Hampson and Connor Joe will likely see increased playing time in Daza's absence.
Aug 11 2022Daza (shoulder) hopes to avoid a trip to the injured list, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza exited Thursday's game against the Cardinals due to pain in his left shoulder, but the injury doesn't appear to be a significant concern. If he's forced to miss any matchups, Garrett Hampson and Connor Joe are candidates to see increased playing time.
Aug 9 2022Daza is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, according to Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza snapped a seven-game hitting streak in Colorado's last game Sunday, so manager Bud Black decided it would be best to give him a day off. Randal Grichuk will start in center field Tuesday night.
Aug 7 2022Daza will start in center field and bat leadoff in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With Charlie Blackmon getting Sunday off, Daza will step into the table-setting role for the fifth time this season. Daza will also be making his fifth consecutive start and seventh in the past eight contests after going 10-for-25 with four doubles, three runs and one RBI during his active seven-game hitting streak. He appears to be picking up playing time at the expense of Connor Joe, who hasn't started in consecutive games since July 28 and 29.
Aug 2 2022Daza will start in center field and bat eighth in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Padres, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza will crack the lineup for the fifth time in seven games, and he should be one of the primary beneficiaries of increased playing time after Kris Bryant (foot) was moved to the injured list Monday for the third time this season. Though he offers little pop (one home run in 277 plate appearances) and hasn't translated his speed into meaningful stolen-base production in the majors, Daza has been a valuable source of batting average (.294) over his 81 games this season.
Jul 13 2022Daza isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza went 0-for-4 with a run and a strikeout during Tuesday's win over San Diego and will be out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games. Sam Hilliard, Garrett Hampson and Randal Grichuk are starting in the outfield from left to right.
Jul 11 2022Daza is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Even with fellow outfielder Kris Bryant (personal) landing on the paternity list Monday, Daza will see his run of four consecutive starts come to an end while Colorado rolls out an outfield of Connor Joe, Garrett Hampson and Charlie Blackmon. Since Bryant is most likely to spend the maximum three days away from the team before returning to the lineup Thursday, Daza should still be in good position to pick up a handful of starts per week.
Jul 10 2022Daza will start in center field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: C.J. Cron's (wrist) absence from the starting nine for the second game in a row will open spots in the lineup for both Daza and Connor Joe, who gets the start at first base in Cron's stead. Assuming Cron is able to avoid a stint on the injured list and rejoins the lineup for the four-game series with the Padres that begins Monday, Daza could be in line to displace Joe as a mainstay in the Colorado outfield against right-handed pitching. Daza, who already picked up a start against a right-hander in Friday's series opener in Arizona while Joe sat out, finds himself in the lineup for the seventh time in eight games after going 6-for-22 (.273 average) over the previous six contests.
Jun 28 2022Daza is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza stayed in the lineup for Monday's 4-0 win while lefty Tyler Anderson was on the hill for the Dodgers, but the 28-year-old will be on the bench for the second game of the series, despite Los Angeles bringing another southpaw (Clayton Kershaw) to the mound. The righty-hitting Daza should generally have a decent path to playing time versus lefties, but he'll likely struggle to find work against right-handed pitching now that Kris Bryant is back from the injured list. Moving forward, the Rockies are likely to use Bryant, Charlie Blackmon, Connor Joe and Randal Grichuk as their primary options at the three outfield spots and designated hitter.
Jun 25 2022Daza isn't starting Saturday's game against the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza started in the last 15 games and hit .297 with four doubles, 10 runs and two RBI during that time. However, he'll get a breather while Connor Joe, Garrett Hampson and Randal Grichuk start in the outfield from left to right.
Jun 23 2022Daza went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored Wednesday against the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza led off for Colorado for the second time in the last three games, with Connor Joe out of the lineup on each occasion. Daza took advantage of the opportunity Wednesday, leading the game off with a double and coming around to score. He's collected a hit in 10 of his last 11 starts, maintaining a .362 average while scoring 10 runs in that span.
Jun 18 2022Daza went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza scored on Charlie Blackmon's first-inning triple, then again on C.J. Cron's infield single in the sixth. Daza has picked up at least a hit in eight of his last 10 games, six of which have been multi-hit performances. Although the outfielder has yet to record a home run this season, his .386 OBP puts him in prime position to score runs for a team with the 10th highest run total and the 12th most RBI.
Jun 13 2022Daza went 3-for-5 with a run scored Sunday against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza singled in each of his first three at-bats, and he came around to score after leading off the fourth inning with a base knock. He had a strong weekend series against the Padres, collecting six hits across 17 at-bats while also scoring three runs. It's largely been empty production, but Daza has maintained a .331 batting average across 158 plate appearances this season. He should have a clear path to playing time so long as Kris Bryant (back) remains sidelined.
Jun 8 2022Daza isn't starting Wednesday against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza drew starts in the last four games and went 3-for-17 with a run, an RBI, a walk and six strikeouts. Connor Joe will take over in left field while Elehuris Montero serves as the designated hitter Wednesday.
Jun 3 2022Daza (elbow) is starting in center field and hitting fifth Friday against Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He missed one game after getting hit by a pitch in Wednesday's game. Daza is hitting .345/.412/.417 in 26 games since the start of May, although he has zero home runs and zero steals over that stretch.
Jun 2 2022Daza (elbow) isn't starting Thursday against Atlanta, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza was hit by a pitch in Wednesday's matinee against the Marlins and will be held out of the lineup for a second straight game. However, he appeared in the nightcap as a pinch runner, and it's possible he'll be available off the bench Thursday. Connor Joe, Garrett Hampson and Randal Grichuk will start in the outfield from left to right.
May 31 2022Daza went 1-for-1 with a double, four RBI and a run scored Monday against the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza wasn't in the starting lineup Monday, but he entered the game as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning with the bases loaded. He delivered the winning runs with a bases-clearing double and later provided insurance with a sacrifice fly in the eighth frame. Daza has only five extra-base hits across 115 plate appearances on the campaign, though he has an excellent .359 average and .409 on-base percentage to go along with 13 RBI and 15 runs scored.
May 30 2022Daza isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's contest versus the Marlins, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza has put together a nice five-game hitting streak, going 8-for-22 with a double, an RBI and four runs over those contests. He'll get the day off Monday and Sam Hilliard will start in left field and bat seventh as the Rockies face Pablo Lopez on the mound.
May 27 2022Daza went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored Thursday against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza has had drastic swings in playing time of late, but he should see more work so long as Kris Bryant (back) remains sidelined. He's recorded multiple hits in each of his last two starts, picking up a run scored on each occasion. Daza has reached base at a prolific rate without much power across 98 plate appearances this season, maintaining a .364/.418/.420 line.
May 25 2022Daza will start in center field and bat second in Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With Kris Bryant (back) returning to the 10-day injured list after appearing in just three games following his recent reinstatement, Daza looks like he'll get another opportunity to play regularly out of the Colorado outfield. The 28-year-old hasn't shown much involvement in the run game after piling up stolen bases during his minor-league career, but his high-contact approach has thus far translated to quality results at the plate. He enters Wednesday with a .350/.404/.400 slash line across 89 plate appearances.
May 23 2022Daza is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old will take a seat for the second time in three games, and it looks as though he'll move into more of a fourth-outfield role following Kris Bryant's return from the injured list over the weekend. After the Daza saw a 12-game hitting streak come to an end in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with the Mets when he appeared as a late-inning defensive replacement but didn't log a plate appearance, Daza went 0-for-3 with a walk in a starting role during Sunday's 2-0 loss in the series finale.
May 15 2022Daza went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored Sunday against the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza started his seventh consecutive game and delivered a two-RBI single in the seventh frame. In that seven-game span, he's collected 11 hits across 27 at-bats while driving in five and scoring three runs. Daza is likely to lose playing time with Randal Grichuk back in action, though he should still enter the lineup a few times a week while serving as Colorado's fourth outfielder with Kris Bryant (back) sidelined.
May 11 2022Daza will start in center field and bat sixth Wednesday against the Giants, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After going 3-for-4 with a triple, double and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-2 loss, Daza will stick in the starting nine for the fourth consecutive contests. Three of those starts have come in center field, where he appears to have at least temporarily unseated Randal Grichuk for the everyday role. Daza owns an .843 OPS over 49 plate appearances on the season and should get the opportunity to play regularly while he's wielding a hot bat, but his track record prior to 2022 suggests he won't be able to keep producing at this level.
May 10 2022Daza went 1-for-5 with two RBI on Monday against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza drew the start in left field and hit second with left-hander Carlos Rodon on the mound. He had a rough start to the game, striking out and grounding into a double play in each of his first two plate appearances. However, Daza came through with a two-RBI single in the fifth inning. He's seen a slight uptick in playing time of late, starting five of the team's last eight games and going 6-for-22 with three RBI and three runs scored in that span.
Apr 17 2022Daza will start in center field and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Cubs, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza will crack the lineup for just the third time all season while the Rockies give Charlie Blackmon the day off. With Randal Grichuk (back) and Kris Bryant (quadriceps) both rejoining the starting nine Sunday after recently dealing with minor injuries, a potential window for Daza to pick up playing time out of the outfield has closed.
Mar 19 2022Daza (not injury related) is scheduled to join the Rockies at spring training Sunday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza missed the first week of camp due to visa issues and will likely require some time to build up before he's ready to appear in Cactus League games, but it's unlikely that his absence will impact his availability for Opening Day. The 28-year-old's path toward playing time got slightly murkier when the Rockies signed Kris Bryant to play left field, but Daza should still be one of the top fill-in options in the outfield to begin the 2022 campaign.
Mar 16 2022Manager Bud Black said Wednesday that Daza isn't yet at camp due to visa issues, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Black isn't yet sure when Daza will be able to join the Rockies for spring training, so it's not clear whether his absence will impact his availability to begin the regular season. The 28-year-old hit .282 with two home runs, 30 RBI and 26 runs across a career-high 107 appearances with the Rockies last year, and he's in line to serve as one of the top backups in the outfield once he joins the team.
Sep 2 2021Daza (thumb) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque in the coming days, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza was placed on the injured list in mid-August due to a left thumb laceration, but he'll return to game action after being shut down for just over two weeks. The 27-year-old had lost out on playing time prior to his injury, and he likely won't require a lengthy rehab assignment before being cleared to rejoin the major-league club.
Aug 18 2021The Rockies placed Daza on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left thumb laceration, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza will head to the IL for the second time in the past month after he was previously deactivated for around three weeks due to COVID-19 protocols. Since rejoining the Rockies on Aug. 1, Daza had lost hold of an everyday spot in the outfield to Connor Joe and Sam Hilliard. The extent of Daza's left hand injury isn't known, but while he's sidelined, Garrett Hampson will likely fill the short side of a platoon in center field with the lefty-hitting Hilliard.
Aug 8 2021Daza is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Before he was placed on the COVID-19 injured list coming out of the All-Star break, Daza had been the Rockies' clear-cut starter in center field, but he appears to have moved into a reserve role in the outfield since being activated Aug. 1. He's started just twice in seven games upon returning to the active roster, with the hot-hitting Sam Hilliard seemingly emerging as the team's preferred option in center.
Aug 6 2021Daza is not starting Friday against the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza has started just one game since being activated from the COVID-19 injured list Sunday, so it appears that Sam Hilliard could be overtaking him as the primary center fielder.
Aug 4 2021Daza is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza will remain out of the lineup for the third straight game since being activated from the COVID-19 injured list Sunday. Sam Hilliard will make his fourth straight start in center field Wednesday for Colorado.
Aug 3 2021Daza is not starting Tuesday against the Cubs, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Sunday but was limited to pinch-hit duties during the series finale against the Padres. He'll sit again Tuesday as Sam Hilliard starts in center field and bats eighth.
Aug 1 2021Daza (COVID-19 protocols) was activated from the injured list Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 27-year-old missed the past two weeks while going through the COVID protocols but is back on the big-league roster for Sunday's series finale in San Diego. Daza has been serving as Colorado's primary center fielder, though he won't start in his return from the shelf, per Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette.
Jul 27 2021Daza (COVID-19 injured list) is scheduled to play in a simulated game Tuesday at the Rockies' spring training facility in Arizona, the Associated Press reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: One of four Rockies placed on the COVID-19 IL on July 16, Daza has cleared all the health and safety protocols and now looks to be in the process of regaining his conditioning following the shutdown. The Rockies haven't revealed whether Daza will require a minor-league rehab assignment before being activated, so he would seem to have a shot at rejoining the big club as soon as this weekend. Garrett Hampson has been serving as Colorado's primary center fielder while Daza has been on the shelf.
Jul 16 2021Daza was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's not yet clear whether Daza has tested positive for the coronavirus, but he was one of several Rockies who landed on the COVID-19 injured list Friday. Garrett Hampson could see an uptick in playing time going forward, while Sam Hilliard was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque as part of a corresponding move.
Jul 7 2021Daza isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza had started each of the last three games, but he went 1-for-10 with a run, an RBI, a walk and a strikeout. Garrett Hampson will take over in center field and bat second.
Jul 2 2021Daza is not starting Friday's game against the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza gets another day off following his 0-for-4 effort in the series opener Thursday. Even so, the 27-year-old is hitting .315 on the season and has been an excellent surprise for the Rockies. Garrett Hampson bats second and starts in center field.
Jun 30 2021Daza is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Garrett Hampson will draw the start in center field in place of Daza, who is sitting for the first time in nine games. The 27-year-old looks to be locked in as the Rockies' No. 2 hitter and has been an elite source of batting average this season (.318 mark in 234 plate appearances), but Daza hasn't brought much else to the table from a fantasy perspective.
Jun 28 2021Daza went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI in Monday's win over Pittsburgh. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza got his squad on the board in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI triple to right field. He's been hot throughout the month of June at the dish, hitting .337 with one home run and 14 RBi in 25 games.
Jun 18 2021Daza is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza has become the primary center fielder of late, starting each of the last nine games. He'll take a seat Friday, however, with Garrett Hampson batting second and starting in center field.
Jun 13 2021Daza will start in center field and bat second Sunday against the Reds. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Even with Trevor Story's recent return from the injured list leaving less time available in the middle infield for Garrett Hampson, Daza has been able to maintain an everyday role in the outfield. Daza will draw his fifth start in a row Sunday, and he should continue to play regularly while he's wielding a hot bat. Over his last 13 games, Daza is hitting .356 with five RBI, three runs and a 4:8 BB:K.
Jun 8 2021Daza is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Unless he's used in a pinch-hitting capacity, Daza will put his eight-game hitting streak on hold Tuesday. Daza had started in the last seven of those games, but Garrett Hampson will spell him in center field in the series opener. Colorado is expected to get Trevor Story (shoulder) back from the injured list this week, and his return will leave fewer reps available for Hampson at shortstop. If the Rockies decide to use Hampson more regularly in center field, Daza will lose out on some playing time, though he's made a strong case for himself with a .331 batting average across 153 plate appearances.
Jun 2 2021Daza will start in center field and bat second Wednesday against the Rangers, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza appears to be encroaching on Garrett Hampson's role as the Rockies' primary center fielder. Hampson -- who was on the bench for the previous three games -- will fill in for Brendan Rodgers at shortstop on Wednesday, paving the way for Daza to pick up his fourth consecutive start in center. Daza has reached base in nine of his 13 plate appearances over the past three contests, so he could continue to receive steady work while he's swinging a hot bat.
May 16 2021Daza went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 7-6 loss to Cincinnati. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza has hit safely in seven straight games, going 14-for-23 (.609) with three RBI, four runs scored and two stolen bases in that span. He filled in for Charlie Blackmon (groin) in right field Sunday. Daza is slashing .347/.370/.432 with a home run, two steals, nine RBI and nine runs scored across 101 plate appearances overall.
May 8 2021Daza isn't starting Saturday's game against the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza will be out of the lineup for a fifth consecutive game as he appears to have lost his hold on the starting job in center field. Garrett Hampson will start in center while Ryan McMahon shifts to second base and Josh Fuentes takes over at third.
May 5 2021Daza isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza came off the bench in each of the games in Tuesday's doubleheader, and he'll remain out of the lineup for the series finale. Garrett Hampson will start in center field while Alan Trejo starts at second base.
May 4 2021Daza is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Giants, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza will end up on the bench for both games of the twin bill, though he did earn a walk as a pinch hitter during the matinee. Raimel Tapia, Garrett Hampson and Charlie Blackmon will start from left to right in the outfield for the nightcap.
Apr 27 2021Daza is not starting Tuesday against the Giants, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza hits the bench after starting six straight games. Coors Field is undoubtedly part of the reason why he's hitting .326 so far this season, but the field isn't going away anytime soon, so he should remain useful to fantasy teams in at least one category as long as he remains in a regular role. He deserves a fair amount of the credit for his high average as well, as he's striking out just 13.3 percent of the time. Sam Hilliard gets the start in center field in his absence.
Apr 24 2021Daza will start for the third straight game in center field Saturday against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Rockies will again move Garrett Hampson in to second base, pushing Ryan McMahon to third and Josh Fuentes to the bench. Anyone with a regular role who plays half their games at Coors Field is at least somewhat interesting for fantasy purposes, and Daza has made good contact thus far, hitting .344 through 33 plate appearances. He was never a particularly exciting prospect, but he runs well and makes enough contact to give him some fantasy appeal if he keeps his job.
Apr 21 2021Daza went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Astros. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza began the year as a depth outfielder for the Rockies, but he's now started in three of the last five games. He's racked up one homer, three RBI, three runs scored and no steals in 29 plate appearances. The 27-year-old has added a pair of doubles among his 10 hits, and could earn more playing time if he continues to hit well.
Apr 16 2021Daza went 3-for-4 with a RBI in Thursday's 7-5 loss to the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The part-time outfielder is now hitting .375 in 16 at-bats this season. Daza earned a roster spot with a strong spring training and may work his way into the lineup more regularly with more offensive showings like Thursday's. So far, though, he's primarily been a pinch hitter, having started just three games.
Mar 17 2021Daza went 4-for-4 with a solo home run, one double and three runs in Tuesday's spring win over the Reds. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza is competing for a reserve role on the major-league roster during camp this year, and he made a strong case while coming within a triple of the cycle in Tuesday's Cactus League matchup. The 27-year-old is out of options but has impressed in Cactus League play, going 13-for-28 with a home run, three doubles, six runs, four RBI, one stolen base and five strikeouts across 14 spring games.
Mar 23 2020Daza was on the roster bubble prior to the shutdown, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Harding notes that Daza might be the Rockies' best defensive outfielder, but the question is whether he (and/or Sam Hilliard) would be better off playing every day at Triple-A. Daza hit .414/.438/.552 with zero home runs, zero steals and a 5:2 K:BB in 32 plate appearances this spring.
Sep 28 2019Daza went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a walk in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daza and Josh Fuentes executed a double-steal in the second inning after both reaching on singles. Daza has 79 stolen bases across six years in the minors, showing modest speed potential. With the Rockies, the 25-year-old has posted a .204/.257/.237 line with three RBI and seven runs scored across 93 at-bats, primarily as a depth outfielder.

Nov 20 2017Daza was added to the Rockies' 40-man roster Monday. The move was made to protect Daza from the upcoming Rule 5 draft. The 23-year-old outfielder spent all of 2017 with High-A Lancaster, hitting an impressive .341/.376/.466 with 87 RBI and 31 stolen bases in 125 games. While he doesn't hit a lot of homers, he led the California League in hits (177) and batting average (.341) while also knocking 34 doubles and 11 triples. Look for him to open 2018 at Double-A.
