The 32-year-old southpaw will now join the Brewers to replace Jared Koenig (forearm), who landed on the injured list, and Zastryzny will presumably work in middle relief during his stint with Milwaukee. Chris Roller was designated for assignment in order to open up a 40-man roster spot.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Zastryzny claimed the final spot in Pittsburgh's bullpen after tallying 10 strikeouts and yielding zero earned runs across 7.1 innings this spring in the Grapefruit League. The 31-year-old southpaw tends to struggle against right-handed hitters, but he's held lefties to a .174/.321/.239 slash line over parts of four major-league seasons.
Mar 29 2023Zastryzny is on track to be included on the Pirates' Opening Day roster, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Zastryzny joined Pittsburgh on a minor-league deal in December, so he'll need to be added to the 40-man roster ahead of Thursday's season opener versus the Reds. The left-hander earned one of the final spots in the bullpen by throwing 7.1 scoreless innings and posting a 10;1 K:BB in the Grapefruit League. The 31-year-old has made only 24 appearances in the majors over four-plus seasons, but he'll have a chance to stick in the Pirates bullpen if he pitches well in the early part of 2023.
