Jun 21 2018Kieboom was promoted to Double-A Harrisburg on Thursday, Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post reports.Kieboom continued to exceed expectations at the High-A level, slashing .298/.386/.494 with 11 home runs, 46 RBI and six stolen bases for Potomac in 61 games this season. The infielder is listed as the club's No. 3 prospect and will likely spend the remainder of the 2018 campaign learning the ropes at Harrisburg. Though he's a fine defender at shortstop, Kieboom's eventual home in the majors may wind up being second or third base.
Jun 11 2018Kieboom went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a stolen base for High-A Potomac in Sunday's win over Lynchburg. The Nats' No. 3 fantasy prospect has been on a tear lately, hitting safely in nine of his last 10 games with a .351 (13-for-37) batting average, four homers, two steals, 12 runs and 14 RBI. Kieboom now has a .296/.386/.491 slash line through 56 games at High-A with 10 home runs, six stolen bases and a strong 34:48 BB:K, and the 20-year-old seems headed for a promotion to Double-A before the summer is over.
May 11 2018Kieboom went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, five RBI and a walk in Thursday's game for High-A Potomac. He got off to a slow start to the season, but is hitting .350 with two home runs and a 4:9 K:BB over his last 40 at-bats, which has upped his season line to .243/.360/.412. Any opportunity to buy low has probably passed at this point, as Kieboom appears to be rounding into form.
Apr 17 2018Kieboom went 1-for-4 with a walk and a grand slam Monday for High-A Potomac in a 9-4 win over Salem. The Nats' No. 3 fantasy prospect has had a bit of a slow start to the season, hitting .212 (11-for-52) through 12 games, but he now has four homers and 11 RBI -- with two of the blasts and eight of the steaks coming in the last four games. Kieboom played at three levels last season, so the Nats will likely leave him in the Carolina League for a while to get settled, but if he stays healthy and begins to dominate at the plate, the 20-year-old could make his Double-A debut before the year is out.
Apr 4 2018Kieboom will open the year with High-A Potomac. This seems like a natural progression for Kieboom, who only played 48 games in an injury-shortened campaign at Low-A last year, but hit .296/.400/.497 over that stretch. He has earned more of a challenge, and should handle himself well against High-A pitching. The 20-year-old shortstop should not be overlooked in dynasty leagues. He is a top 50 prospect for our purposes, thanks to the fact he could hit for a high average with 20-plus homer power while ending up at either shortstop, third base or second base.
Aug 22 2017Kieboom (hamstring) is back in action for Low-A Hagerstown. He is hitting .309/.386/.551 with seven home runs and two steals in 136 at-bats in the South Atlantic League this year. Eric Longenhagen of FanGraphs said he had a scouting source compare Kieboom to Troy Tulowitzki. Look for the offseason hype to build steadily with the young shortstop, despite the fact that the hamstring injury limited him to less than 50 games against full-season pitching.
Jul 28 2017Kieboom (hamstring) went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI in the first game of his rehab stint with the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Nationals on Friday. This is the first game action Kieboom has gotten since getting hurt back in May. It's a bit unsettling that it took this long for him to begin a rehab assignment given that his initial timeline for return suggested he would only miss a few weeks, but it's good to see that he progressed nonetheless. Once he completes some rehab games with the rookie-league squad, Kieboom will head back to Low-A Hagerstown to continue his development.
May 22 2017Nationals director of player development Mark Scialabba said Sunday that he expects Kieboom (hamstring) to miss "a few weeks," Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post reports.Kieboom has been sidelined since May 12 with the right hamstring injury. Scialabba was reluctant to offer up a recovery timetable for the 19-year-old shortstop, but it appears safe to conclude that Kieboom won't be rushed back to action, given his long-term value to the organization. Kieboom, the 28th overall selection in the 2016 first-year player draft, was off to a hot start with Hagerstown, batting .333 with 16 extra-base hits in 111 at-bats.
May 17 2017Kieboom was placed on the 7-day DL at Low-A Hagerstown on Sunday with a right leg injury, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports. The Nats' No. 4 prospect was off to great start for Hagerstown, slashing .333/.398/.586 through 29 games with six homers and 20 RBI as well as a reasonable 20.3 percent strikeout rate. Kieboom's injury doesn't sound serious, so he should be back in action and pushing for a midseason promotion to High-A soon enough.
