Jun 28 2025 | Glasnow (shoulder) will probably need at least two more minor-league rehab appearances before he's activated off the 60-day IL, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Per Harris, the Dodgers were hoping Glasnow would be able to reach the fourth inning in his minor-league start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, but he lasted just 2.1 frames despite throwing 66 pitches. Manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that the right-handed hurler's stuff looked okay but that he struggled with efficiency. Given that Glasnow wasn't able to pitch past the third inning, Harris suggests the veteran starter is going to need at least two more rehab outings, but he could still return to the Dodgers' rotation prior to the All-Star break. |

Jun 27 2025 | Glasnow (shoulder) tossed 2.1 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three batters. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was slated to throw three innings Friday, but he needed 66 pitches to get seven outs. The veteran right-hander used up most of his leash in the first frame, when he threw 40 pitches and gave up four runs. While Glasnow walked just one batter in the start, his control was off, as only 37 of his 66 offerings were strikes. On a positive note, Glasnow's fastball velocity sat at 96.6 mph, and he induced a solid nine whiffs. He's slated for at least one more rehab appearance, and given where he's at in terms of his pitch count, Glasnow could return to the Dodgers around the All-Star break. |
Jun 22 2025 | Glasnow (shoulder) tossed two scoreless and hitless innings for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday. He walked three batters and struck out one. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow took the mound in a game for the first time since April 27 and understandably showed some rust, issuing three free passes and throwing just 22 of 48 pitches for strikes. Despite the control issues, the veteran righty got through two scoreless frames without allowing a hit. Per independent journalist Blake Harris, Glasnow topped out at 98.3 mph, so his velocity appears to be in a good place as he works toward a return to the big-league club. Glasnow figures to need at least a couple more rehab outings before he's ready to be activated from the 60-day IL. |
Jun 20 2025 | Glasnow (shoulder) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow tossed about 40 pitches in a sim game Tuesday, and he's now ready to progress to game action. The veteran righty is expected to log two innings in his initial rehab start Sunday, according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, and is slated for at least three rehab outings before coming off the injured list. Glasnow has been on the IL since late April, and though he's coming up on eligibility to be activated, his timeline suggests early July as a best-case scenario. |
Jun 17 2025 | Glasnow (shoulder) went two innings and about 40 pitches in a live batting practice session Tuesday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow has been battling right shoulder inflammation since late April, and he's slowly been making steady progress in the last couple weeks. The right-hander looked "really good" in the BP session according to manager Dave Roberts, and a minor-league rehab assignment could come in the near future. |
Jun 13 2025 | Glasnow (shoulder) threw live batting practice Friday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was initially scheduled to throw a regular bullpen, but he wound up facing batters during the session. Glasnow has been progressing well since battling minor back soreness at the start of June, and he could be close to starting up a rehab assignment. |
Jun 9 2025 | Glasnow (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday in Los Angeles, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow has been moving in the right direction since it was reported at the end of May that he was experiencing general body soreness after throwing. "He's doing really well," stated manager Dave Roberts. "Very excited and anxious to start facing some hitters. So that's coming too." If all goes well during Glasnow's side session, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him gain clearance for live BP later in the week. |
Jun 3 2025 | Glasnow (shoulder) downplayed the "general body soreness" mentioned by manager Dave Roberts on Monday, and the right hander said he's likely to throw another bullpen session Friday or Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow classified the body soreness as a minor back issue, which shut him down from throwing for a few days. The oft-injured 31-year-old made just five starts this season prior to landing on the injured list due to shoulder inflammation. Glasnow will be eligible to be reinstated in late June, but he could be sidelined beyond that given that he'll likely require a handful of rehab games in the minors before rejoining the Dodgers. |
Jun 2 2025 | Glasnow (shoulder) continues to play catch, but body soreness has slowed his progress, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow threw a bullpen session May 23, which ultimately resulted in some body soreness for the right-hander. The 31-year-old has been on the injured list since late April with right shoulder inflammation, and the team is still trying to figure out how and when to start ramping him back up. Glasnow was transferred to the 60-day IL on Saturday and he's not eligible to be activated until June 27, but the likelihood of him returning to action then feels slim. |
May 31 2025 | The Dodgers transferred Glasnow (shoulder) to the 60-day IL on Saturday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 31-year-old righty will give up his spot on the Dodgers' 40-man roster to Chuckie Robinson, who was claimed off waivers from the Angels on Saturday. Glasnow has been on the injured list since late April with right shoulder inflammation and is now eligible to return beginning June 27. |
May 23 2025 | Glasnow (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Friday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Friday marks the first time Glasnow has thrown off a mound since he landed on the injured list in late April. He didn't quite reach 20 pitches during his first session and will likely need a few more weeks to continue building up to a starter's workload. A clearer return timeline may emerge when he's cleared to face hitters. |
May 15 2025 | Glasnow (shoulder) threw from flat ground Thursday, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow resumed throwing Sunday, and this marked his second session. Manager Dave Roberts said that Glasnow's recovery is going as planned but provided no timeline for him to begin throwing off a mound. |
May 11 2025 | Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed Sunday that Glasnow (shoulder) resumed playing catch. Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After landing on the 15-day injured list April 28 due to right shoulder inflammation, Glasnow was shut down for just over a week and a half before he was cleared to begin a throwing program. Glasnow has a checkup with Dr. Neal ElAttrache scheduled for Monday, and a clearer timeline for his return from the IL could begin to come into focus following that meeting. |
May 7 2025 | Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Glasnow (shoulder) will resume playing catch Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow will soon resume throwing after having been shut down since exiting his April 27 start versus the Pirates due to right shoulder inflammation. Though the right-hander hasn't been out for a prolonged period, he'll likely need to complete a simulated game and/or a minor-league rehab start before the Dodgers activate him from the 15-day injured list. A target date for his return should come into focus once he reaches the point in his throwing program where he's facing hitters. |
Apr 30 2025 | Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Glasnow (shoulder) will be shut down 10-to-14 days before being re-evaluated, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with right shoulder inflammation and will not do any throwing for a while. Given the length of the shutdown period, it's difficult to imagine the right-hander will be able to return before June even in a best-case scenario. |
Apr 20 2025 | Glasnow (lower leg) is expected to make his next start Sunday versus the Pirates, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow departed Sunday's 1-0 win over the Rangers in the fifth inning due to cramping in his right lower leg, but manager Dave Roberts said following the game that the right-hander will likely be set for his next turn in the rotation. Glasnow tossed four scoreless innings before leaving the game Sunday, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out six batters. Through four starts in 2025, the right-hander has compiled a 3.71 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 23 strikeouts over 17 innings. |
Apr 13 2025 | Glasnow did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Cubs, pitching six innings while allowing two runs on three hits and a walk. He struck out seven. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After yielding five runs over two innings in his previous outing, Glasnow looked much sharper in this 98-pitch effort but generated a middling seven whiffs. The two blemishes on the right-hander's evening were a pair of solo shots -- one by Pete Crow-Armstrong in the third, the other by Michael Busch in the sixth. Through 13 innings, Glasnow's ERA now stands at 4.85 and is paired with a 17:9 K:BB. He currently lines up to make his next start against the Rangers on the road next weekend. |
Apr 6 2025 | Glasnow did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 8-7 loss to the Phillies, allowing five runs on two hits and five walks with two strikeouts over two innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was handed a two-run lead in the first inning but came undone in the third as rain began to fall in Philadelphia. He gave up a run and allowed five consecutive batters to reach base before being pulled for Alex Vesia, who promptly surrendered a grand slam on his first pitch. The 31-year-old Glasnow owns a 6.43 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 10:8 K:BB across seven innings this season and will try to rebound at home against the Cubs next weekend. |
Mar 31 2025 | Glasnow (1-0) pitched five scoreless innings in a win over Atlanta on Monday, allowing two hits and issuing three walks while striking out eight batters. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow didn't get his first start until the Dodgers' sixth game of the campaign due partly to the fact that over a week went by between the team's season-opening two-game set in Tokyo, Japan and its stateside opener in Los Angeles. Nonetheless, the right-hander looked like an ace in his 2025 debut, racking up 13 whiffs and eight punchouts while cruising through five scoreless frames. Atlanta didn't manage any extra-base hits off Glasnow and got just one runner to third base. Glasnow has had trouble avoiding injuries throughout his career, but if he can stay healthy he figures to be a vital part of Los Angeles' vaunted rotation. |
Mar 24 2025 | Glasnow pitched five innings in an exhibition contest against the Angels on Monday, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out nine batters. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow gave up a home run to the first batter he faced (Taylor Ward), then surrendered a single to Mike Trout two batters later. From then on, the right-handed hurler was almost perfect, as he retired 14 of the final 15 hitters he faced. Glasnow induced 15 whiffs among his 73 pitches in the outing and topped out at 98.2 mph on the radar gun. The Dodgers have lined up Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki to take the mound during their first home series beginning Thursday, so Glasnow will have to wait until next Monday versus Atlanta to make his first start of the regular season. |
Mar 8 2025 | Glasnow pitched three innings in a Cactus League contest against the White Sox on Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out six batters. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow pushed his pitched count up to 53 pitches (33 strikes) in the outing while averaging 96.4 mph with his fastball. The only run he allowed came on a solo homer by Miguel Vargas in the second inning. Through three Cactus League starts, Glasnow has given up three runs on six hits while posting a 10:1 K:BB over six innings. |
Feb 24 2025 | Glasnow pitched one inning against Cincinnati in a Cactus League contest Monday, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out two batters. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow struck out the first two batters he faced before giving up three straight hits, including a two-run double by Austin Hays that ended with Hays getting thrown out at third base. Glasnow threw just 16 pitches in the frame, so he did some more throwing in the bullpen after he was lifted, per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times. The right-hander isn't scheduled to start either of the Dodgers' two Tokyo contests versus the Cubs to kick off the MLB regular season, but he's expected to pitch in one of the team's two exhibition games in Japan versus teams from the Nippon Professional Baseball Organization leading up to the series against Chicago, per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. |
Feb 18 2025 | Glasnow (elbow) is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session Tuesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow finished his first season in Los Angeles on the injured list due to a right elbow sprain, but he didn't require offseason surgery and said in November that he had fully healed from the injury. The Dodgers' decision to let him face hitters in the second week of spring training supports the notion that Glasnow is back to full health, putting him on track to be available when Los Angeles opens its regular season March 18 versus the Cubs in Tokyo. Despite concluding the 2024 campaign on the shelf, the oft-injured Glasnow was still able to establish career highs in starts (22) and innings (134) while going 9-6 with a 3.49 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 168:35 K:BB. In an effort to help preserve Glasnow and the team's other starting pitchers throughout the long season, the Dodgers are once again expected to utilize a six-man rotation in 2025. The arrangement will suppress Glasnow's counting statistics relative to other starting pitchers coming off the board around his range in fantasy drafts, but the 6-foot-8 right-hander should remain one of the top performing starters on a per-inning basis. |
Feb 1 2025 | Glasnow (elbow) indicated Saturday that his most recent MRI came back clean and that he's been throwing as usual during the offseason, Rowan Kavner of FOX Sports reports. "I've been throwing normal, throwing bullpens, and I feel as good as I've ever felt," Glasnow stated. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Speaking at the team's DodgerFest event, Glasnow explained that the elbow injury that ended his 2024 season turned out to be just tendinitis. The veteran right-hander stated back in November that he was planning to throw twice per week throughout the offseason without an extended break, and it appears that his work this winter has gone smoothly. Given Glasnow's comments, it seems likely that he will be ready to pitch by the time Los Angeles kicks off its season in Tokyo, Japan on March 18, though it's not yet clear if he'll be one of the team's starters for the two-game set against the Cubs. |
Nov 8 2024 | Glasnow said in an interview on Foul Territory TV in late October that he had imaging on his right elbow recently and "it looks like it's fully healed." | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow also mentioned that he planned to throw twice per week throughout the offseason rather than taking an extended break as he has done in the past, with the goal being to "try to get my tissue used to that workload." The righty's final appearance for the Dodgers this season came on Aug. 11 and imaging after a setback in September showed a sprain. While the early offseason prognosis appears positive, Glasnow still has a long ways to go before he's out of the woods. |
Oct 4 2024 | Glasnow said Friday that the inflammation has gone down in his right elbow, but he has yet to resume throwing, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was shut down after being diagnosed with a right elbow sprain Sept. 14. While he isn't expected to undergo surgery, Glasnow has been restricted to rehab on his elbow, and he noted Friday that a more definitive recovery plan will be put in place once he undergoes more scans, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Glasgow went 9-6 during the regular season with a 3.49 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 168:35 K:BB across 134 innings. |
Sep 21 2024 | Glasnow doesn't expect to need surgery on his sprained right elbow, but he's been shut down from throwing for the foreseeable future, per MLB.com. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was diagnosed with a right elbow sprain Sept. 14 and was subsequently moved to the 60-day IL. Though the right-hander doesn't think he'll need surgery, his injured elbow will be subject to monitoring and imaging as he looks ahead to clearance to resume throwing. Glasnow's injury isn't expected to carry over into next season, but it's highly unlikely he'll pitch again in 2024 even if the Dodgers make a deep run into the postseason. |
Sep 18 2024 | The Dodgers transferred Glasnow (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was diagnosed with a sprained elbow Saturday, and his move to the 60-day IL will officially rule him out for the remainder of the regular season. Zach Logue's contract was selected from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move to fill the open 40-man roster spot. |
Sep 14 2024 | Manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Glasnow has a sprained right elbow and is unlikely to return this season, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The news of Glasnow's sprain comes as somewhat of a surprise, considering Roberts previously said that initial scans on the right-hander's elbow were "promising." Glasnow will be shut down from throwing for the time being, and although he hasn't officially been ruled out for the season yet, it's likely the only way he pitches again in 2024 is if the Dodgers make a deep postseason run. |
Sep 13 2024 | Manager Dave Roberts said Friday that initial scans on Glasnow's right elbow came back "promising," Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow reported discomfort in his elbow while warming up for a sim game Friday. While the Dodgers skipper didn't get into specific details regarding the right-hander's status, it seems there may still be a chance he returns in time to make another start before the end of the regular season. |
Sep 10 2024 | Glasnow (elbow) will face hitters in a simulated game over the weekend, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow reportedly felt good coming out of his bullpen session Tuesday, and he's now been given the green light to throw 2-to-3 simulated innings against live hitters. Assuming everything goes smoothly this weekend, the 31-year-old righty will likely rejoin Los Angeles' rotation sometime next week and build up his workload while pitching in big-league games. |
Sep 9 2024 | Glasnow (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday followed by a simulated game Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This is another step in the right direction for Glasnow, who successfully fired a 25-pitch bullpen session Saturday. If he's able to get through Tuesday's bullpen and Friday's sim game without issue, the right-hander could be sent out on a rehab assignment as early as next week. |
Sep 7 2024 | Glasnow (elbow) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Saturday marks the first time Glasnow has thrown off a mound since he landed on the injured list in mid-August due to right elbow tendinitis. He's not expected to make it back to the Dodgers before mid-September, but the fact he's back on a mound is a good indication of progress. The 31-year-old righty will presumably throw a few more bullpen sessions before progressing to live batting practice. |
Aug 31 2024 | Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Glasnow (elbow) could return to Los Angeles' rotation in mid-September in a "best-case scenario," per MLB.com. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow landed on the injured list for the second time this season Aug. 16 due to right elbow tendinitis. The right-handed hurler played catch both Friday and Saturday and said after the latter session that he is "confident" he will return to the Dodgers' rotation before the end of the season, per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times. Roberts previously stated that Glasnow will require a minor-league rehab assignment prior to a potential activation, and the ace pitcher's timeline suggests that, at maximum, he could pitch in three more regular-season games ahead of the playoffs. |
Aug 29 2024 | Glasnow (elbow) will play catch Friday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow's recovery had been stalled for a few days, but he'll resume throwing Friday. Manager Dave Roberts shared optimism that Glasnow would return to the mound this season, but he did not commit to that outcome. |
Aug 28 2024 | Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Glasnow's progress from his elbow injury has been "slow moving" and indicated that the hurler will need a rehab assignment prior to returning, per Dodger Blue. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: When Glasnow landed on the injured list Aug. 16, the level of concern about the right-hander was relatively low, especially considering that Glasnow said that he pushed the team not to place him on the IL or even to skip his start. However, there's now at least a bit more worry given that the All-Star hurler has made slower-than-expected progress. Glasnow did begin a throwing program this past weekend, and even with a rehab assignment a necessity before he can return to the Dodgers' rotation, it's possible that he could be back with the big club in mid-September. |
Aug 24 2024 | Dave Roberts said Saturday that Glasnow (elbow) played catch from 60 feet and Glasnow's absence will be longer than originally expected, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was placed on the injured list Aug. 16 with right elbow tendinitis and was able to resume a throwing program Saturday. While his absence will extend into September, Roberts expressed optimism Glasnow would pitch again during the regular season. Bobby Miller has stepped into Glasnow's spot in the rotation. |
Aug 21 2024 | Manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Glasnow (elbow) has yet to begin playing catch, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Dodgers skipper added that Glasnow likely won't be activated once he's eligible to come off the injured list Aug. 31, but the team's concern is still relatively low. A clearer return timeline for the 30-year-old right-hander may emerge once he's able to begin a throwing program. |
Aug 16 2024 | The Dodgers placed Glasnow on the 15-day injured list Friday with right elbow tendinitis, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Dodgers pushed back Glasnow's next start from Friday to Saturday after he pitched seven innings during his last outing, but he'll now have to miss multiple turns through the rotation. His roster spot will be given to Justin Wrobleski, who was recalled from Triple-A to start Friday's game versus St. Louis. Bobby Miller was added to the Dodgers' taxi squad Friday and will presumably start Saturday's contest in Glasnow's place. |
Aug 14 2024 | Manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Glasnow's next start will be pushed back to Saturday's game against the Cardinals, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow had originally been in line to start Friday's series opener, but the team will instead opt to give him an extra day of rest after he lasted seven innings in his most recent start. Justin Wrobleski is a likely candidate to come up from the minors to make a spot start Friday. |
Aug 12 2024 | Glasnow did not factor into the decision in Sunday's win over the Pirates, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out four over seven innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was in control for most of the afternoon outside of a third-inning two-run homer by Andrew McCutchen. He was in line for another win that ended up being spoiled by the Dodgers bullpen again after Anthony Banda allowed a two-run homer to McCutchen in the eighth to tie up the game. Glasnow put together his third consecutive quality start and now sits third in baseball in strikeouts (168) and WHIP (0.95). For the year, the 30-year-old owns a 3.49 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 168:35 K:BB in 134 innings and lines up to face the Cardinals on the road his next time on the mound. |
Aug 5 2024 | Glasnow (9-6) earned the win over Philadelphia on Monday, allowing three runs on five hits and no walks while striking out nine batters over six innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow fell behind 2-0 after two innings but gave up only one run over his remaining four frames. The veteran right-hander finished with his second straight quality start and picked up his first victory since June 22. Glasnow's nine punchouts Monday were his most since that June 22 win, and he now ranks second in the majors with 164 punchouts on the campaign. |
Jul 31 2024 | Glasnow did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's loss to the Padres, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out eight over seven innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow allowed a solo home run to Manny Machado in the second and then the Padres manufactured two more runs off him in the third. He exited the game in line for the win, but Blake Treinen blew the save opportunity in the ninth. Glasnow's eight strikeouts were his most in a start since he had 10 on June 22, which happened to also be the last time he was credited with a win. He's now allowed a home run in three straight starts and has given up 14 on the year, which is already one more than he gave up in 21 starts last season. The 30-year-old owns a 3.50 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 155:34 K:BB in 121 innings and lines up to face the Phillies at home next week. |
Jul 25 2024 | Glasnow (8-6) took the loss against the Giants on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out four. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow struggled with his command a bit in his return to the rotation, issuing walks in each of the first three innings before surrendering a leadoff homer to Matt Chapman to open the fourth. The right-hander threw just eight of his 21 first pitches for strikes while matching his season high with four free passes. On a positive note, Glasnow was able to get through five frames without any apparent setbacks and still managed to produce 10 whiffs despite his command issues. He's now allowed two runs or fewer in five of his last eight starts. |
Jul 24 2024 | Glasnow (back) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Wednesday ahead of his start against the Giants. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Back tightness forced Glasnow onto the IL on July 9, but he'll now return to the Dodgers' rotation following a minimum-length stay. The 30-year-old righty reached 58 pitches while throwing three simulated innings Friday, though it's possible he works under some sort of restriction during his first start back. Landon Knack was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move. |
Jul 20 2024 | Correcting a previous report, Glasnow (back) will start Wednesday's game against the Giants, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Dave Roberts accidentally stated Glasnow would start Thursday and Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) would start Wednesday, prompting the Dodgers to issue a correction. Glasnow threw 58 pitches across three simulated innings Friday and will likely be on a pitch count against San Francisco. The start will be Glasnow's first since being placed on the injured list July 9 due to back tightness. |
Jul 19 2024 | After throwing a simulated game Friday at Dodger Stadium, Glasnow (back) said that he thinks he will start Wednesday against the Giants, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Per Stephen, Glasnow threw 58 pitches across three simulated innings to Jason Heyward (knee), Gavin Lux and James Outman, and the 31-year-old righty doesn't appear to need a rehab assignment prior to returning to the Dodgers' rotation. Before landing on the 15-day injured list July 9 due to lower back tightness, Glasnow was 8-5 over 18 starts with a 3.47 ERA and 0.93 WHIP across 109 innings. |
Jul 9 2024 | The Dodgers placed Glasnow on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to lower back tightness, retroactive to July 6. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow's back flared up Sunday while playing catch, per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times, and his placement on the injured list means he will miss the All-Star game, with Reds right-hander Hunter Greene taking his spot. Glasnow was originally slated to pitch Thursday against the Phillies, but Landon Knack will now take to the mound for the series finale. If Glasnow returns right after the 15-day minimum, he would be lined up to start in the series finale against the Red Sox on July 21. The 30-year-old is 8-5 over 13 starts this season with a 3.47 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 143:29 K:BB over 109 innings. |
Jul 5 2024 | Glasnow allowed five runs on three hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings in a no-decision versus the Brewers on Friday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: All of the damage came in the fourth inning between a Willy Adames RBI single and a Rhys Hoskins grand slam. Glasnow has allowed five runs in back-to-back starts, though he's avoided the loss in both of those outings. For the season, he has a 3.47 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 143:29 K:BB through 109 innings over 18 starts. He's projected to make his next start at Detroit rather than Philadelphia due to the Dodgers inserting Justin Wrobleski into the rotation for a spot start Sunday. |
Jun 30 2024 | Glasnow did not factor into the decision against the Giants on Saturday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks over three innings while striking out one. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow didn't have his best stuff Saturday, allowing the leadoff man to reach in each of his three innings of work while surrendering four extra-base hits. It marked the right-hander's shortest outing of the campaign and the second time in his last four starts that he's given up five runs. Glasnow also struck out only one batter in the contest, a season low, after fanning at least nine in four straight starts coming in. |

Jun 23 2024 | Glasnow (8-5) picked up the win over the Angels on Saturday, allowing one run on two hits over seven innings while striking out 10. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow got off to a great start, going 1-2-3 through each of the first three innings while striking out five of the first 11 batters he faced. He would allow just one unearned run over the first six frames before leaving a slider up in the zone in the seventh, which Logan O'Hoppe launched into the stands for a solo shot. Glasnow has been spectacular as of late, with the exception of his road outing against the Yankees three starts back, allowing no more than three hits in four of his last five outings. He's also posted double-digit strikeouts in two of his last three starts and now carries a 40:4 K:BB in June to go along with a 2.42 ERA. |
Jun 16 2024 | Glasnow (7-5) picked up the win Sunday against Kansas City, allowing three hits and one walk with nine strikeouts across seven scoreless innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was exceptional Sunday, striking out at least nine batters for a third straight start and completing his first scoreless start since April 21. He didn't allow an extra-base hit in the outing and got into the win column for the first time in seven starts. Glasnow leads MLB with 125 strikeouts across 93.0 innings and his ERA dropped from 3.24 to 3.00 after Sunday's start. The 30-year-old is tentatively scheduled to face the Angels next time out. |
Jun 10 2024 | Glasnow (6-5) took the loss Sunday against the Yankees, allowing five runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out 12 in six innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nearly all the damage against Glasnow came via the long ball. The Yankees opened up the scoring with a solo home run in the third and tacked on an additional run before the inning ended. Trent Grisham later slugged a three-run blast in the sixth to put the Yankees up 5-3 and they would not relinquish the lead from there. The eight hits allowed tied Glasnow's season high and he's now given up at least a home run in five of his last six starts, though it was also his fifth time striking out at least 10 hitters. The 30-year-old will carry a 3.24 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 116:24 K:BB (86 innings) into his next start, which projects to be against the Royals over the weekend. |
Jun 4 2024 | Glasnow (6-4) was stuck with the loss Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out nine over six innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jack Suwinski's solo home run in the third inning was the lone tally against Glasnow, though it proved to be enough to leave him with the loss in a 1-0 shutout defeat. Still, it was another strong outing from the 30-year-old Glasnow, who now has eight or more strikeouts in seven of his last eight starts. His ERA is down to 2.93 on the year with a 0.90 WHIP and a league-leading 104 strikeouts through 13 starts (80 innings). Glasnow's currently lined up for an intriguing road matchup with the Yankees this weekend. |
May 29 2024 | Glasnow came away with a no-decision in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader sweep of the Mets, allowing two runs on two hits and four walks over seven innings. He struck out eight. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander produced his eighth quality start of the season while fanning at least eight batters for the sixth time in his last seven trips to the mound, but Glasnow exited the game in line for the loss before the Dodgers rallied late and eventually won it in the 10th inning. Glasnow will take a 3.04 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 95:21 K:BB through 74 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come early next week in Pittsburgh. |
May 23 2024 | Glasnow (6-2) was tagged with the loss against the Arizona on Wednesday, allowing three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out six over five innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow cruised through the first four innings before allowing three consecutive batters to reach base with one out in the fifth, eventually leading to three runs coming across for Arizona. He would make it through the frame but didn't return for the sixth, marking the second straight start in which he's been unable to make it through at least six innings. The right-hander is now 1-2 in May after going 5-1 in his first six decisions to open the campaign. However, he still sports a healthy 34:5 K:BB through four starts this month. |
May 17 2024 | Glasnow (6-2) took the loss against the Reds on Thursday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out eight over five innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow ran into trouble early, surrendering a leadoff homer to Will Benson to open the contest along with an RBI double to Tyler Stephenson four batters later. The Reds would get to Glasnow again in the third and fifth innings, marking only the second time this season he's allowed four or more runs in an outing. The right-hander had logged four consecutive quality starts coming into Thursday and still carries a 3.32 ERA in May to go along with a 28:4 K:BB. He's also struck out at least eight batters in five straight starts. |
May 10 2024 | Glasnow allowed a run on one hit and two walks while striking out 10 over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Friday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was excellent, with the one hit against him being a Luis Campusano solo home run in the third inning. This was the fourth time this season Glasnow has struck out 10 or more batters, and it was also his fourth straight quality start. The right-hander trimmed his ERA to 2.53 with a 0.86 WHIP and a 73:15 K:BB over 57 innings across nine starts. Glasnow is dialed in, but his workload will be something to keep an eye on -- he's never pitched more than 120 innings in a season, often due to injuries. He's projected to make his next start in San Francisco. |
May 5 2024 | Glasnow (6-1) earned the win over Atlanta on Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over seven innings while striking out 10. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow didn't allow a man to reach base over the first three frames before surrendering a leadoff single to Ronald Acuna, who would later come home to score on a single from Austin Riley, in the fourth. The right-hander responded by striking out seven of the next 11 batters he faced, and overall he racked up double-digit strikeouts for the third time this season. Glasnow has now won each of his last three starts, going at least six innings in each of those outings while posting a 29:4 K:BB. |
May 1 2024 | Glasnow (hand) is scheduled to start Saturday's game against Atlanta at Dodger Stadium, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow experienced hand cramps in his most recent start April 27, but he'll be ready to go on six days' rest in a series featuring two of the National League's top teams. The right-hander has gotten off to an excellent start to his tenure with the Dodgers, going 5-1 with a 2.72 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 53:12 K:BB across 43 innings through seven outings. |
Apr 27 2024 | Glasnow was removed from his start Saturday against the Blue Jays due to cramping in his right hand, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow didn't appear to be in significant pain when he was removed during the seventh inning of Saturday's contest, so his removal was likely precautionary. The Dodgers will monitor his situation, but it doesn't seem like the 30-year-old righty is at risk of missing his next start. Glasnow picked up his fifth win of the season Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over six-plus innings while striking out nine. |
Apr 22 2024 | Glasnow (4-1) earned the win over the Mets on Sunday, scattering seven hits across eight scoreless innings while striking out 10. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow rebounded from his worst outing of the year with a dominant performance against the Mets. All seven hits he gave up were singles, and he was able to last eight innings for just the third time in his career. He became the first pitcher this season to toss eight scoreless frames while racking up double-digit strikeouts and ended his day in style by punching out Tyrone Taylor with the bases loaded. Glasnow owns a 2.92 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 44:9 K:BB in 37 innings and projects for his next turn to be on the road against Toronto. |
Apr 15 2024 | Glasnow (3-1) took the loss against Washington on Monday, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five batters over five innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was absolutely dominant against Minnesota in his previous outing, striking out 14 batters over seven scoreless innings. He couldn't carry that momentum into Monday, as he took his first loss as a Dodger and gave up a season high six runs and eight hits. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the outing that Glasnow has been under the weather in recent days, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, so that may have had something to do with his subpar results against the Nationals. Given that the hurler was still able to give Los Angeles 94 pitches over five frames, there seems to be very little chance that the illness will prevent Glasnow from taking his next turn in the rotation on schedule. |
Apr 9 2024 | Glasnow (3-0) earned the win after he pitched seven innings, allowing three hits while striking out 14 batters in Tuesday's 6-3 victory over the Twins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was in full command Tuesday, matching his career-high 14 strikeouts while limiting Minnesota to just three baserunners. The left-hander has now registered three straight quality starts and after four outings, he owns a 2.25 ERA and 0.75 WHIP with 29 punchouts over 24 innings. Glasnow is tentatively set to be back on the mound Monday for a matchup with the Nationals at home. |
Apr 4 2024 | Glasnow (2-0) earned the win over San Francisco on Wednesday, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over six innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow worked up to a season-high 100 pitches in the outing, and his seven punchouts were also his high mark through three starts. The right-hander gave up just one run over his first five frames before the Giants got to him for a pair of scores in the sixth, but he was able to finish the inning to nab a quality start and was awarded the win after the Dodgers hung on to a narrow lead. Glasnow's strikeout numbers to begin the campaign have been a bit underwhelming -- he's fanned a modest 15 batters through 17 frames -- but he's otherwise been as-advertised to start his first season in Los Angeles, posting a 3.18 ERA and 0.88 WHIP thus far. |
Mar 28 2024 | Glasnow (1-0) earned the win Thursday against St. Louis. He allowed one run on two hits and a walk over six innings while striking out five. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Paul Goldschmidt's solo home run in the fourth inning was the lone blemish on Glasnow's line Thursday and was one of just two hits allowed by the right-hander. Glasnow needed just 81 pitches to make it through six innings as he picked up his first win with the Dodgers after taking a no-decision in LA's opener in South Korea. The 30-year-old has allowed just two runs through 11 innings this season after going 10-7 with a 3.53 ERA and 162 strikeouts in 21 starts with Tampa Bay last year. |
Mar 24 2024 | Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Glasnow will start the team's home opener Thursday against St. Louis, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow started Los Angeles' first game of the season, allowing two runs over five innings in a no-decision against the Padres in South Korea on March 20. Due to the unique configuration of the regular-season schedule -- the Dodgers are now back in the United States playing exhibition games before Thursday's home opener -- Glasnow will be able to start twice in the team's first three regular-season contests. The right-handed hurler tossed 77 pitches in his initial start against San Diego, and he should be able to push that a bit higher Thursday versus the Cardinals. |
Mar 20 2024 | Glasnow tossed five innings, allowing two runs on two hits and four walks while striking out three batters in a no-decision against the Padres in South Korea on Wednesday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow retired six of the first seven batters he faced before a Tyler Wade walk, a wild pitch and a Xander Bogaerts single gave the Padres their first run in the third inning. Glasnow ran into more trouble in the fourth, as he walked the inning's first two batters before Jurickson Profar notched a bunt single to load the bases, but the right-handed hurler then induced a double play and escaped the jam with just one more run on his ledger. The Dodgers' new ace finished his outing with a 1-2-3 fifth frame, ending with 77 pitches (including 44 strikes). Aside from the four free passes, Glasnow looked strong in his Los Angeles debut, and he can be expected to even out his control as the campaign progresses after posting a walk rate south of eight percent each of the past three seasons. |
Mar 16 2024 | Glasnow tossed 5.1 scoreless and hitless innings in a Cactus League contest against San Francisco on Tuesday. He struck out eight batters and allowed one walk. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: A day after being named the Dodgers' Opening Day starter for their March 20 matchup with the Padres in South Korea, Glasnow finished his spring slate in dominant fashion, retiring 16 of the 17 batters he faced and tossing 70 pitches while holding the Giants without a hit. The right-hander looked every bit like an ace this spring, allowing just one run on four hits while posting a 14:3 K:BB over 10 frames. Glasnow may not be quite ready for a full workload in the regular-season opener given that the Seoul Series is taking place over a week earlier than Opening Day for teams besides the Dodgers and Padres, but he otherwise appears to be in fine form as he embarks upon his first campaign with Los Angeles. |
Mar 11 2024 | Glasnow will start the Dodgers' Opening Day game March 20 in Seoul, South Korea versus the Padres. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He will be opposed by Yu Darvish, while Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Joe Musgrove will start the second contest of the two-game set for the NL West rivals. Glasnow has looked sharp in his 4.2 innings so far this spring, allowing just one run with a 6:2 K:BB. The big right-hander remains one of the biggest health risks in the game, but he should be a safe bet to perform at a high level for as long as he can stay on the field. |
Feb 21 2024 | Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto are each expected to start a contest in the team's season-opening two-game set in Korea that begins March 20, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow and Yamamoto were both acquired in the offseason as part of a major overhaul of the team's pitching staff, and it appears that both hurlers will get a chance to make their regular-season Dodgers debut in Korea. It isn't yet clear which of the two will get the ball first, but Glasnow may be the slight favorite given that Yamamoto hasn't yet thrown an MLB pitch. Los Angeles has a unique opening schedule in that they play three exhibition contests in California following the Padres series before resuming the regular season against St. Louis on March 28. With that in mind, it's possible that both hurlers could pitch twice within the team's first four regular-season contests, though there's no indication yet that the team will line up starters that way. |
Dec 15 2023 | The Dodgers signed Glasnow to a four-year, $110 million contract extension Friday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The extension will be added on to the $25 million Glasnow is set to earn in 2024, meaning the right-hander is poised to make a total of $135 million over the next five seasons. There is also a $30 million club option for 2029 which, if declined, converts to a $20 million player option. It's a big gamble for a pitcher who has never made more than 21 starts or thrown more than 120 innings in a major-league season, but the Dodgers were willing to pay a premium for Glasnow's undeniable upside. |
Dec 14 2023 | Glasnow was traded by the Rays to the Dodgers along with Manuel Margot in exchange for Ryan Pepiot and Jonny DeLuca on Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was expected to be on the move this offseason as he enters the final year of a two-year extension. As a result of his contract status, the deal is contingent on Glasnow agreeing to an extension with the Dodgers, though that's likely a formality at this point. In five full seasons with the Rays, he maintained a stellar 3.20 ERA and 1.03 WHIP while piling up 678 strikeouts across 529.2 innings. The only concern will be Glasnow's ability to stay on the mound, as he's topped 100 innings only twice in six full big-league campaigns. |
Oct 3 2023 | Glasnow took the loss in Tuesday's 4-0 defeat against the Rangers in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and five walks across five innings. He struck out eight. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow had his ups and downs in his 10th career postseason start, and he ultimately struggled to keep runs off the board. The blame cannot be placed solely on the right-hander, however, as the team also committed three errors behind him. While the 16 whiffs Glasnow compiled in the contest speak to some level of dominance against the Rangers lineup, he also struggled with his command, most notably throwing a wild pitch in the fifth inning that allowed Corey Seager to score. He now has a 5.72 ERA and 1.49 WHIP with 61 strikeouts across 45.2 postseason innings in his career. |
Oct 1 2023 | Glasnow is starting Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series against the Rangers on Tuesday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow struggled in a few starts in September, but he still struck out 48 batters in 33.1 innings over his six starts last month. Zach Eflin will start Game 2 on Wednesday. |
Sep 28 2023 | Glasnow (10-7) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-0 victory over the Red Sox, allowing two hits and a walk over five scoreless innings. He struck out nine. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The southpaw left the mound after just 70 pitches (45 strikes) with the postseason in mind, but Glasnow was dominant before his exit, generating an incredible 31 called or swinging strikes. Whiffs have come easily for him in September even if nothing else has, and Glasnow has a 4.86 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 48:10 K:BB through 33.1 innings on the month. The 30-year-old figures to start the first game of the playoff for the Rays, but as yet it's not clear when that will happen or who their opponent will be, as they could still catch the Orioles for the AL East title and a first-round bye. |
Sep 22 2023 | Glasnow (9-7) took the loss Friday, allowing four runs on three hits and four walks over 5.1 innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out seven. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow struggled with his command Friday night as he issued four walks, equaling a season-high last registered on June 14 against Oakland. Since returning from a back injury on Aug. 14, the 30-year-old pitcher has made eight starts, going 4-4 with a 4.46 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 57:14 K:BB over 46.1 innings. Glasnow looks to bounce back in his final start of the season, currently scheduled to be at Toronto. |
Sep 16 2023 | Glasnow (9-6) took the loss Saturday, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks over four innings against the Orioles. He struck out four. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow turned in his worst performance of 2023 on Saturday, tying his season worsts in earned runs allowed and strikeouts while failing to go deeper than four frames for the first time all year. The 29-year-old was also tagged for a two-run home run in the second inning by Gunnar Henderson. Glasnow has allowed four or more runs in back-to-back appearances and is slated to take on the Blue Jays for his next start. |
Sep 11 2023 | Glasnow (9-5) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks over six innings Monday, striking out eight and earning a win against the Twins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow gave up just one run through five frames before serving up a three-run shot to Royce Lewis in the sixth inning. Glasnow yielded just four runs over his previous three starts before Monday's hiccup. Since the All-Star break, he's gone 7-2 with a stellar 78:14 K:BB and 2.53 ERA through 64 innings. He'll carry a 3.15 ERA into his next outing, which is currently lined up to be in Baltimore this weekend. |
Sep 7 2023 | Glasnow (8-5) picked up the win in Wednesday's 3-1 victory over the Red Sox, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over six innings while striking out 14. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 14 strikeouts tied his career high, a mark he set in April 2021 against the Rangers. Glasnow generated a dazzling 22 swinging strikes among his 103 pitches as he fanned double-digit batters for the third time this season. It was also his third straight quality start and eighth in nine trips to the mound since the All-Star break. With Shane McClanahan (elbow) done for the season, Glasnow has stepped up as Tampa Bay's ace, posting a 2.33 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 70:12 K:BB through 58 second-half innings. His next outing lines up for a road series in Minnesota to begin next week. |
Sep 1 2023 | Glasnow (7-5) allowed three runs on seven hits over seven innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Guardians. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow gave up one run through six innings before coughing up a pair in the seventh. He's given up eight earned runs over his last 19 innings, raising his season ERA from 3.01 to 3.17 in the process. However, he owns a 2.50 ERA across 68.1 innings in his last 11 outings. Glasnow will carry a 120:27 K:BB into his next appearance, which is lined up to be at home against Boston. |
Aug 26 2023 | Glasnow (7-4) earned the win Saturday, allowing one hit and two walks over six scoreless innings against the Yankees. He struck out four. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The only hit Glasnow allowed was a sixth-inning single, as the 30-year-old righty needed just 85 pitches to secure a quality start and win. He now owns a 5-1 record in seven starts since the All-Star break, posting a 2.20 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 50:11 K:BB across 45 innings during that span. Glasnow is projected to make a road start against Cleveland next weekend. |
Aug 19 2023 | Glasnow (6-4) took the loss in Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Angels on Saturday, allowing seven runs (five earned) on eight hits while striking out seven batters over six innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow wasn't exactly knocked around in the start -- of the eight hits against him, three didn't leave the infield -- but his final stat line nonetheless reflected one of his worst outings of the campaign. It was just the second time in 14 starts that the right-hander has allowed more than three earned runs, and the eight knocks against him were a season-high mark. Glasnow did manage to extend his streak of starts with at least seven strikeouts to 10, and his season ERA still looks good at 3.35. He'll try to bounce back in what is projected to be a favorable matchup at home against Colorado in his next start. |
Aug 15 2023 | Glasnow improved to 6-3 on the season in Monday's 10-2 win over San Francisco, allowing one run on three hits and three walks while striking out seven batters over six innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow hadn't pitched since July 31 due to a back injury, but the issue appeared to be a non-factor Monday. The right-hander received plenty of run support and was pulled after a modest 87 pitches but still managed to record six innings to finish with his fifth straight quality start. Over that span, Glasnow has posted a dominant 1.64 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 39:9 K:BB over 33 frames while picking up four wins. The veteran hurler has allowed more than three runs just once in 13 starts this season. |
Aug 11 2023 | Glasnow (back) will make his next start Monday at San Francisco, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow had been aiming to start Saturday versus Cleveland and threw a 15-pitch bullpen session Friday afternoon at Tropicana Field, but the Rays will play it safe and delay his return a couple additional days. The 29-year-old right-hander hasn't pitched since July 31 due to back spasms. |
Aug 9 2023 | Manager Kevin Cash said Glasnow (back) played catch Wednesday, and the Rays remain "optimistic" that the right-hander will be ready to make his next start Saturday versus the Guardians, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: At the same time, the skipper noted that he won't know for certain that Glasnow will be able to pitch this weekend until Saturday morning, so fantasy managers planning on activating him should keep a close eye on his status leading up to the game's 4:10 p.m. ET start time that day. Glasnow was scratched ahead of his most recent scheduled start this past Sunday after experiencing back spasms, but he seems to making good progress in his recovery from the injury. |
Aug 8 2023 | Rays manager Kevin Cash expressed hope Tuesday that Glasnow (back) will be able to return to the rotation Saturday against the Guardians, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was scratched from his last scheduled turn in the rotation Sunday versus the Tigers due to back discomfort, but he got an injection Tuesday to aid the healing process and will attempt to throw a side session Thursday. When healthy this season, the 29-year-old right-hander has worked to a strong 3.15 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 96:22 K:BB in 12 starts covering 68.2 innings. |
Aug 6 2023 | Manager Kevin Cash said Sunday that Glasnow (back) could be ready to make a start for the Rays during the club's upcoming three-game series with the Cardinals, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow had been in line to start Sunday's series finale with the Tigers, but after he experienced back spasms late Saturday, the Rays scratched him and had reliever Erasmo Ramirez make a spot start in his stead. According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Glasnow will likely meet with a doctor Monday, but at this stage, Cash doesn't believe the big right-hander is at risk of going on the IL. If the doctor agrees with Cash's assessment and Glasnow responds well to treatment, he could be back on the mound as early as Wednesday or Thursday. |
Jul 31 2023 | Glasnow (5-3) earned the win Monday, allowing a run on three hits and two walks over seven innings against the Yankees. He struck out eight. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow now has eight or more strikeouts in six of his last seven starts while pitching to a 2.08 ERA in that span. The 29-year-old right-hander has returned to elite form after missing the first two months of the season with an oblique injury. Overall, Glasnow's ERA is down to 3.15 with a 1.08 WHIP and 96:22 K:BB across 12 starts (68.2 innings) this season. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Tigers this weekend in his next outing. |
Jul 25 2023 | Glasnow (4-3) earned the win Tuesday, allowing a run on two hits and two walks over seven innings against Miami. He struck out eight. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow's now held opponents to just one run in three of his previous four outings while racking up 55 strikeouts over his last six starts (36.1 innings). The 29-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 3.36 with a 1.12 WHIP and 88:20 K:BB across 11 starts (61.2 innings). Glasnow will look to keep rolling in his next start, currently lined up for this weekend against the Astros. |
Jul 20 2023 | Glasnow allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and no walks while striking out nine batters over seven innings in a no-decision against Baltimore on Thursday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow struck out the first three batters he faced and cruised through three perfect frames before Baltimore got to him for three runs on four hits in the fourth. The veteran was able to recover, however, tossing three more scoreless innings to notch his second straight quality start. Glasnow ended up completing seven innings for the first time this season, and his nine punchouts were the third-most he's tallied in an outing thus far. Glasnow got a late start to the campaign due to an oblique injury, but he's been one of MLB's top strikeout pitchers since his return. On the season, his 35.1 percent strikeout rate ranks second among MLB starters who have faced at least 200 batters. |
Jul 15 2023 | Glasnow (3-3) earned the win over Kansas City in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader, allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over six innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was originally slated to start Friday but had his outing pushed back a day due to inclement weather. The adjustment didn't appear to bother the veteran hurler, as he notched his second quality start of the season and picked up his first victory since mid-June. Glasnow departed his previous start against Atlanta early due to cramping in his hands and legs, so it was reassuring for those who roster him in fantasy to see him go a full six frames and toss 95 pitches. The right-hander has been a valuable asset since making his season debut May 27, compiling a 3.78 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 71:18 K:BB over 47.2 innings. |
Jul 14 2023 | Glasnow's next start will be pushed back to Saturday after Friday's game between the Rays and Royals was postponed due to inclement weather, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Saturday. Alec Marsh -- who had been slated to oppose Glasnow on Friday -- will also have his start pushed back a day. |
Jul 13 2023 | Glasnow (hand/legs) is scheduled to start Friday's game in Kansas City. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: In his most recent start July 7 versus Atlanta, Glasnow exited midway through the sixth inning while battling cramps in his hand and legs, but the extended time off due to the All-Star break provided ample time for the 29-year-old to recover. He'll lead off the Rays' second-half slate and look to continue the momentum he had carried into the break. In his final three starts of the first half, Glasnow went 0-2 but submitted a 2.76 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 31:3 K:BB over 16.1 frames. |
Jul 7 2023 | Rays manager Kevin Cash said Glasnow battled cramping in his hands and legs Friday against Atlanta, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: That's what led to Glasnow's exit in the top of the sixth inning. Cash noted that the 29-year-old right-hander has dealt with similar types of cramps before and that he was probably done for the night anyway at 88 pitches. He should be able to take his next scheduled turn in the Tampa Bay rotation coming out of the All-Star break. Glasnow racked up eight strikeouts Friday versus Atlanta while yielding two runs -- one earned -- on two hits and one walk across 5.2 frames. He stands 2-3 with a 4.10 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 64:16 K:BB in eight starts (41.2 innings) this year. |
Jul 1 2023 | Glasnow (2-2) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out 11 over 5.2 innings, taking the loss Saturday versus the Mariners. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This was his second-longest outing of the season, and Glasnow has racked up double-digit strikeouts in each of his last two starts. He's also winless in his last three outings, as the Mariners took the lead for good in the sixth inning. Glasnow's posted a strong 56:15 K:BB over 36 innings so far, but his 4.50 ERA and 1.33 WHIP remain relatively pedestrian as he continues to settle in after missing the start of the season with an oblique injury. The right-hander's last start of the first half is tentatively projected to be a challenging home start versus Atlanta. |
Jun 26 2023 | Glasnow allowed one earned run on four hits and a walk while striking out 12 across five innings Sunday against the Royals. He did not factor into the decision. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow didn't have a particularly efficient performance, but he induced an impressive 26 swinging strikes across only 89 total pitches. He's completed more than five innings in only three of his starts on the season, though he has still managed to pick up two wins and rack up 45 punch outs across 30.1 frames. While he's struggled to prevent runs in a few of his starts, Glasnow has now also allowed only one earned run in half of his appearances. |
Jun 20 2023 | Glasnow (2-1) took the loss Tuesday, allowing six runs on six hits and two walks over 4.1 innings against the Orioles. He struck out seven. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow surrendered a three-run homer to Aaron Hicks in the first inning before Anthony Santander piled on with a two-run shot in the second. Glasnow would settle down, retiring eight of the final nine batters he faced, but the Rays couldn't climb out of the early hole. In five starts (25.1 innings) since his return from an oblique injury, Glasnow has a 4.97 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP and 33:13 K:BB. He's currently lined up for a favorable home matchup with the Royals in his next outing. |
Jun 15 2023 | Glasnow (2-0) earned the win in Wednesday's 6-3 victory over the Athletics, striking out six while allowing three runs on six hits and four walks over 5.1 innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow allowed season highs in walks and hits allowed, but he still completed five innings for a third straight start and recorded his second consecutive win. The right-hander has surrendered 10 walks over his past three starts, but his command issues haven't come back to haunt him yet. Given he missed the first two months of the season with an oblique injury, Glasnow's overall numbers (3.43 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 26:11 K:BB) across his first four appearances are solid, and as long as he's getting regular starts, he should be utilized in basically every fantasy format. |
Jun 10 2023 | Glasnow (1-0) earned the win Friday, allowing one run on one hit and three walks over six innings against Texas. He struck out six. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The only hit Glasnow allowed was a solo home run, as he cruised through a season-high six innings en route to his first win. The right-hander is still ramping up after missing the first two months of the season, but he's been relatively sharp across his first three outings, posting a 2.87 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. Glasnow has walked six batters over his past two starts, and while he's been able to limit the damage, his command is certainly something to watch moving forward. Regardless, Glasnow is one of the best pitchers in MLB when healthy, so as long as he's taking the mound on a regular basis, he should be utilized in basically every fantasy format. |
Jun 8 2023 | Glasnow will make his next start for the Rays on Friday against the Rangers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow had been on turn to pitch Thursday's series finale versus the Twins at Tropicana Field, but the Rays have instead elected to bring up Yonny Chirinos from Triple-A Durham to start that game. The Rays haven't suggested that Glasnow is dealing with an injury, so he's seemingly just being pushed back an extra day for rest purposes. The right-hander has posted a 3.72 ERA and 14:4 K:BB through 9.2 innings in his two starts since returning from the injured list in late May. |
Jun 4 2023 | Glasnow didn't factor into the decision in a 4-2 win over the Red Sox during the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out six. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Making his second start of the season after a spring oblique strain cost him the first couple months of 2023, Glasnow looked sharp as he tossed 88 pitches (54 strikes). The right-hander has a 14:4 K:BB through 9.2 innings since his return, and the ace-level upside he's flashed since coming to Tampa Bay seemingly remains intact. Now all he has to do is stay healthy, but that's easier said than done -- since making his big-league debut with the Pirates in 2016, Glasnow has thrown triple-digit innings in a season only once, and his career high in starts is only 14. |
Jun 2 2023 | Glasnow's start against the Red Sox on Friday was postponed due to inclement weather. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was supposed to face off against Boston and Garrett Whitlock on Friday, but the rain will see that game rescheduled for Monday. Both Glasnow and Whitlock should both be on the bump for one of Saturday's scheduled games with the two teams playing a doubleheader. |
May 27 2023 | Glasnow did not factor in the decision against the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over 4.1 innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow spent nearly the first two months of the season recovering from an oblique injury before making his regular-season debut Saturday. The right-hander had mixed results -- four of the five hits he allowed went for extra bases, and the Dodgers put up three runs on him, but Glasnow also racked up an impressive 17 swinging strikes and eight punchouts in the short outing. Considering the quality of the opponent, this was by most measures a promising return for the oft-injured veteran. He'll try to build upon it in his next outing, which tentatively lines up to take place in Boston next week. |
May 22 2023 | Glasnow (oblique) is expected to make his season debut with the Rays on Saturday versus the Dodgers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He would be on regular rest Friday, but Glasnow and the rest of the Rays' rotation will get an extra day as Cooper Criswell serves as a bulk reliever that day. Glasnow allowed just one run while posting a 20:5 K:BB over 13.1 innings covering four rehab starts. He threw 67 pitches in his last rehab outing Sunday, so he should be available for 90 or so pitches this weekend. |
May 21 2023 | Glasnow (oblique) is making his fourth rehab start with Triple-A Durham on Sunday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander delivered four scoreless frames in his previous start with Durham last Tuesday, and he should continue to build up his workload Sunday. It could be Glasnow's final rehab outing -- assuming he avoids any setbacks -- which potentially puts him on track to make his season debut next weekend against the Dodgers. |
May 17 2023 | Glasnow (oblique) is likely to make another rehab start before rejoining the Rays' rotation, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was excellent in a rehab start with Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, striking out nine over four scoreless innings. While that seems to have put any concern over his minor setback in his previous outing to bed, he still needs to be built back up a bit. Glasnow's season debut should come next week, likely at home against the Dodgers. |
May 16 2023 | Glasnow (oblique) hurled four scoreless innings with nine strikeouts in a rehab start for Triple-A Durham on Tuesday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow allowed just three hits with a walk in an impressive outing for the 29-year-old. It's a positive development after the right-hander was forced to leave his start Wednesday with tightness in his left side after just an inning and 11 pitches. Glasnow will likely need to make at least one more rehab start before he returns, but he's on track to return to the Tampa Bay rotation before the end of May. |
May 11 2023 | Glasnow (oblique) is expected to resume his minor-league rehab assignment Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was pulled after throwing just 11 pitches Wednesday at Triple-A Durham with what was labeled as mild left side tightness, but Rays manager Kevin Cash said Thursday that a visit with a doctor revealed no new injury. The 29-year-old is slated to pitch twice more on the farm before perhaps hopping into Tampa Bay's rotation around the end of May. He suffered a left oblique strain back in late February. |
May 10 2023 | Glasnow (oblique) was removed from Wednesday's rehab start for Triple-A Durham with left side tightness that is very mild in nature, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He was supposed to go four innings and/or 65 pitches but was pulled Wednesday after just 11 pitches. Given that he is coming back from a left oblique strain, it makes sense for the Rays to be careful with Glasnow, but this should still be considered a setback. He will be checked by team personnel Thursday and was slated for a third rehab start Tuesday. |
May 7 2023 | There's a "good chance" Glasnow (oblique) will make a third rehab start with Triple-A Durham following his second rehab start Wednesday, Rays manager Kevin Cash told Kristie Ackert of the Tampa Bay Times. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow struck out four and walked two over 2.1 scoreless frames in his first rehab outing Friday, throwing 46 pitches. "He's going to throw four innings, 60 to 65 pitches I think on Wednesday in Charlotte. Then we'll talk," Cash said. "I think in fairness and to get ahead of it, there's a good chance he's going to make another start after this upcoming one, just to kind of get him closer to normal build-up. Similar to a spring training (build-up)." Assuming Glasnow does indeed make a third rehab start, he would tentatively be lined up for his season debut with the Rays during their May 19-21 series at home versus the Brewers. |
May 5 2023 | Glasnow (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham on Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow is slated for three innings in the first of what's expected to be two or three rehab outings. The big right-hander has been working his way back from a strained oblique which he suffered in late February. Glasnow made two regular-season and one postseason start late last season after making it back from Tommy John surgery. |
Apr 29 2023 | Glasnow (oblique) threw a two-inning live bullpen session in Tampa Bay on Saturday, and could make a rehab appearance for Triple-A Durham within the next week, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rays manager Kevin Cash called the two innings (encouraging) after getting a report from pitching coach Rick Knapp. Glasnow is aiming for a return in the middle of May, but that timeline could be pushed up if he continues to receiving encouraging reports. Just keep in mind that the right-hander has to build up his arm strength as he's been out with his oblique injury since the middle of the Grapefruit League in Florida. |
Mar 29 2023 | The Rays placed Glasnow (oblique) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was diagnosed in late February with a Grade 2 strain of his left oblique and is expected to miss at least the first month of the 2023 regular season. He had just resumed throwing on flat ground when spring camp came to a close. |
Mar 26 2023 | Glasnow (oblique) is throwing on flat ground from 75 feet Sunday, Kristie Ackert of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 29-year-old is about a month removed from suffering a Grade 2 left oblique strain, and his return to throwing is an indication that his rehab is going well. Glasnow's initial recovery timeline was 6-to-8 weeks, and he appears to be trending toward the long end of the timeframe given he has to fully build up his arm after missing spring training. A return in early May should be possible if he can avoid any setbacks as he ramps up his workload. |
Mar 11 2023 | Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters Saturday that Glasnow (oblique) has not started throwing as of yet, Kristie Ackert of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: "Just treatment," Cash said on Saturday before their Grapefruit League game. The right-hander was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left oblique strain on February 27 while throwing to hitters during a live batting practice session. He's expected to miss at least six weeks with the injury, but it could progress longer since Tampa Bay is sure to be cautious with Glasnow. |
Feb 28 2023 | Glasnow is expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks after he was diagnosed Tuesday with a Grade 2 left oblique strain following an MRI, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The projected timetable is for Glasnow's return to game action, so it looks as though he'll be in store for a lengthy absence to begin the campaign. Glasnow, of course, was limited to just two abbreviated starts late in the 2022 season following a long rehab from Tommy John surgery. |
Feb 27 2023 | Glasnow suffered an oblique injury on Monday during a live batting practice session, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow reportedly threw about six pitches before he left with a trainer. The right-hander will undergo an MRi on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury, but Topkin believes that the right-hander will miss time. Just how long Glasnow will be out will be determined at least in part by those image results. Fantasy managers will want to keep a close eye on the situation, and there should be more clarity by Wednesday. |
Feb 19 2023 | Glasnow (illness) completed a bullpen session Sunday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow had been scheduled to take the hill Saturday, but the Rays scratched him from the side session while he battled a stomach illness. As anticipated, Glasnow was cleared to get back on the mound Sunday, with manager Kevin Cash noting afterward that it was the best bullpen session that he had seen the right-hander throw. Glasnow was able to make two abbreviated starts for the Rays late in the 2022 regular season following his recovery from Tommy John surgery, and after a long winter to continue resting up, the 29-year-old appears poised to enter the 2023 campaign without any notable workload restrictions. |
Feb 18 2023 | Glasnow missed his scheduled bullpen session Saturday due to a stomach illness, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow's health is worth watching this spring, but a brief stomach bug isn't likely to be the sort of thing which makes a significant impact. Other than the illness, Glasnow enters camp healthy, having returned from Tommy John late last season to throw 11.2 innings, including five in the playoffs. He struck out 15 batters while allowing just six hits and one run, indicating that he remains as good as ever on a per-inning basis. Exactly how many innings he'll throw remains a mystery, however, as he's only once reached triple digits in that category and has never made more than 14 starts in a major-league season. |
Oct 3 2022 | Glasnow pitched 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and walk while striking out seven in Monday's loss to the Red Sox. He did not factor into the decision. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was stretched out a little further Monday, tossing 64 pitches while blanking the Red Sox over 3.2 frames. The right-hander returned from the 60-day injured list to make his season debut Wednesday and will now be a significant part of the Rays' pitching staff in the postseason. Over his two outings, he's allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out 10 batters over 6.2 innings. |
Sep 28 2022 | Glasnow allowed one earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out three across three innings Wednesday against the Guardians. He did not factor into the decision. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow made his first appearance of 2022 after recovering from Tommy John surgery and threw 50 pitches. He maxed out at 99.4 mph on his fastball and averaged 98.1 mph -- which would be his highest velocity across an entire season. Glasnow lines up to make another start prior to the close of the regular season and figures to serve a prominent role in the Rays' postseason run. |
Sep 25 2022 | Glasnow (elbow) is scheduled to start Wednesday in Cleveland, where he will be limited to about 45 pitches, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow is throwing a light bullpen session Sunday in preparation for his activation. He could be excellent on a per-inning basis, but he won't be able to go deep enough to qualify for a win in his 2022 debut. However, it's possible Glasnow could log four or five innings if he stays on turn and pitches the following week in Boston. |
Sep 20 2022 | Glasnow (elbow) could make his 2023 debut next week in Cleveland, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: If all goes well for Glasnow in Friday's rehab start for Triple-A Durham, his next appearance would likely come either Sept. 28 or Sept. 29 in Cleveland. Glasnow struck out four over two perfect innings in his most recent rehab appearance. The best-case scenario in standard fantasy leagues would probably be for Glasnow to follow an opener in his return to the majors so that he can realistically qualify for the win. |
Sep 19 2022 | Reports on Glasnow (elbow) following Sunday's rehab start are "very good," Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow has made three starts during his rehab stint in Triple-A Durham and boasts a 2.08 ERA and 0.98 WHIP over 4.1 innings during that span. He hasn't seen major-league action since June 2021, but that could change soon depending on how he feels following his next start in Durham on Friday. |
Sep 14 2022 | Manager Kevin Cash said Wednesday that Glasnow (elbow) performed well during Tuesday's rehab start at Triple-A Durham but will require "multiple" additional minor-league appearances prior to returning from the injured list, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow has made a pair of rehab appearances at Durham over the last week, allowing a run on a hit and three walks while striking out four in 2.1 innings. While he's felt good following the outings, he'll need to spend some more time in the minors prior to rejoining the Rays. However, if he continues to fare well following his upcoming rehab appearances, it's possible the right-hander is utilized out of Tampa Bay's bullpen late in the regular season. |
Sep 9 2022 | Glasnow (elbow) will make another rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow came through his first rehab outing without issue, and he will throw again six days after that appearance. Glasnow threw only 19 pitches his last time out, so he is a ways from being stretched out. However, there has been talk that Glasnow could work in relief for the Rays before the season ends, and that could allow for an earlier return. |
Sep 2 2022 | Glasnow (elbow) is slated to begin a rehab assignment in Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow will throw a bullpen session before he joins Triple-A Durham on Wednesday. Once he gets there, they will take his rehab process slowly and have already determined he will throw just one inning in his first game. |
Aug 29 2022 | Glasnow (elbow) faced Triple-A Durham hitters in live batting practice Sunday and is expected to repeat the activity again Wednesday before beginning a rehab assignment, Patrick Kinas of Westwood One reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: According to Kinas, Glasnow threw approximately 23 pitches in the session, which came two days after he and the Rays reached an agreement on a two-year, $30.35 million contract extension. Glasnow, who is making his way back from the elbow surgery he underwent Aug. 4 of last year, is expected to make his return from the 60-day injured list in September in a relief role. |
Aug 26 2022 | Glasnow (elbow) signed a two-year extension with the Rays on Friday, keeping him under contract until 2024, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow had been due for one more year of arbitration before hitting the open market, but he'll now remain a Ray for two more seasons. The fact that Tampa Bay agreed to the deal now, rather than over the offseason, seemingly indicates they feel good about his recovery from Tommy John surgery. Glasnow is expected to begin a rehab assignment soon, which would give him time to pitch in the majors before the end of the regular season, albeit likely as a reliever. The extension means he will remain in a good pitcher's park with the team that helped him break out for at least one year longer than expected. |
Aug 23 2022 | Glasnow (elbow) threw his second live batting practice session Tuesday and will face hitters once more before likely beginning a minor-league rehab assignment, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow reiterated after Tuesday's workout that his surgically repaired right elbow feels good, and he remains optimistic that he'll return from the 60-day injured list this season. According to Topkin, Glasnow's fastball topped out at around 97 miles per hour Tuesday, and while he appears to have recaptured his pre-surgery velocity, regaining command of all of his pitches may prove to be the greater challenge. If Glasnow does meet his goal of pitching for the Rays in 2022, it'll almost certainly come as a reliever, given that he doesn't seem to have enough time at this stage of the season to build up a starter. |
Aug 21 2022 | Glasnow (elbow) threw 20 pitches in a live batting practice session Saturday at the Rays' complex in Port Charlotte, Fla., Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Kevin Cash noted that Glasnow felt good while facing hitters for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery just over a year ago. The right-hander will likely repeat the activity at least one or two more times before the Rays map out a rehab assignment for Glasnow, who will likely be deployed out of the bullpen if he makes his way back from the 60-day injured list this season. |
Aug 8 2022 | Glasnow (elbow) hasn't yet been ruled out for the remainder of the 2022 season, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Topkin notes that Glasnow still has at least a few important hurdles to clear before getting the green light, but he's looked strong in recent side sessions and the club is entertaining the idea of a return in 2022. "The chance is not zero," said pitching coach Kyle Snyder. "Let's say that much. It's pretty remarkable just to see where he is." Glasnow has been throwing off a mound for more than a month now, and Snyder mentioned that the right-hander is throwing 98-99 mph and successfully executing his breaking pitches. Despite this, he would still need to see significant action in the minors pitching against live hitters before gaining clearance to return even in a bullpen role. |
Jun 28 2022 | Glasnow (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, his first since undergoing Tommy John surgery last August, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow's ability to get back on a mound represents an important milestone in his recovery from elbow surgery, but he'll still face an uphill battle to make a return from the 60-day injured list in 2022. Slowly but steadily, he'll likely increase the intensity and frequency of his bullpen sessions before advancing to the next stage of his rehab program: facing live hitters. |
Mar 22 2022 | Glasnow (elbow) and the Rays agreed Tuesday on a one-year, $5.1 million contract to avoid arbitration, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Though he's expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2022 season, Glasnow will get a $1.1 million pay increase after he had performed at a Cy Young-worthy level (2.66 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 123:27 K:BB over 88 innings) through 14 starts in 2021 before he eventually required Tommy John surgery for his right elbow. Glasnow, who also underwent surgery last week to remove loose bodies from his right ankle, is expected to rest for the next 2-to-3 weeks before restarting his throwing program. Before having his ankle scoped, Glasnow had been playing catch off flat ground from about 75 feet three times a week, according to Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network. |
Mar 20 2022 | Glasnow (elbow) underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies from his right ankle Friday and is expected to resume his throwing program in 2-to-3 weeks, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow is recovering from Tommy John surgery in early August, and the ankle procedure should only push back his throwing program by a few weeks. The 28-year-old officially landed on the 60-day injured list Thursday and could make a return late in the season, though it's not guaranteed he'll pitch in 2022. |
Mar 17 2022 | Glasnow (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list Thursday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The move was an inevitable one, as Glasnow is still recovering from Tommy John surgery in early August. He has a chance to return in 2022, but that won't occur until very late in the season if it happens at all. His 40-man roster spot will be taken by new signing Jason Adam. |
Mar 7 2022 | Glasnow's (elbow) agent, Joel Wolfe, said in late February that his client has began a throwing program, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Due to the MLB lockout, Glasnow is unable to train with the Rays or have his rehab monitored by team doctors, so updates from the pitchers and his agent regarding where he stands in his recovery from his Tommy John surgery may be all the news that fantasy players will have available until labor peace is reached. Even though Glasnow's Aug. 4 procedure to address a partially torn UCL was characterized as more of a hybrid surgery that could shorten his recovery timeline compared to typically Tommy John cases, he's still expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2022 season. |
Aug 4 2021 | Glasnow underwent successful Tommy John surgery Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was initially hoping that he'd be able to return in 2021 after he suffered a partial UCL tear in mid-June, but he'll likely be sidelined until 2023 following Wednesday's procedure. Prior to his injury, the 27-year-old put up a 2.66 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in 88 innings across 14 starts. |
Aug 3 2021 | Glasnow (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was reported over the weekend the right-hander was expected to require the procedure, and that's now been confirmed after one final evaluation. Glasnow will go under the knife Wednesday, which will end his 2021 campaign and sidelined him for most, if not all, of 2022. |
Jul 31 2021 | Glasnow (elbow) will likely require Tommy John surgery next week, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow suffered a partial UCL tear in mid-June, but he threw off a mound Friday and was optimistic that he would be able to return sometime in 2021. While Passan reports that there's a "small chance" doctors will find a path toward rehab rather than surgery, the right-hander would miss most or all of the 2022 campaign if he ultimately undergoes the procedure. |
Jul 30 2021 | Glasnow (elbow) threw off a mound Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow's session came while he was in Texas for a follow-up visit regarding his elbow. He's been optimistic for a while now that he'll return before the end of the season, and he's making steady progress, though when exactly he'll make it back is not yet clear. |
Jul 19 2021 | Glasnow (elbow) continues to feel good after playing light catch, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was able to resume playing light catch last week after he was shut down for approximately four weeks, but he still doesn't have a timetable to return to mound work. The right-hander is optimistic that he'll be able to return in 2021, and his return timetable could come into focus when he resumes throwing off a mound. |
Jul 15 2021 | Glasnow (elbow) has resumed playing light catch, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was diagnosed with a partial UCL tear and a flexor strain in his right elbow in mid-June, and he was shut down for approximately four weeks while he received treatment. However, the right-hander has been optimistic about his status, and it's encouraging that he's now resumed light throwing after the shutdown. Glasnow doesn't yet have a timetable to return, but a better idea of his status could come into focus once he's able to increase his workout intensity. |
Jun 26 2021 | Glasnow (elbow) expressed that he was "pretty optimistic about being able to come back sooner than later" based on how his arm is currently feeling in an appearance on Chris Rose's Rotation podcast Friday, the team's official site reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: While it's naturally only Glasnow's opinion, the sentiment is nevertheless encouraging for fantasy managers and the Rays alike. The right-hander added that he felt he would "probably be back before the playoffs and then be able to play in the playoffs" based on his current condition, but a much more tangible prognosis will likely be possible once Glasnow starts the process of throwing again sometime in July. |

Jun 18 2021 | Manager Kevin Cash said Friday that Glasnow (elbow) will be shut down for four weeks while he receives treatment, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The skipper seemed encouraged by the latest update for the club's ace right-hander, as it looks like Glasnow could resume throwing in a month's time. If that timeline holds, he'd need about four more weeks to get all the way stretched out before returning to the rotation. Obviously, a lot of developments will take place between now and mid-July, but given Cash's update, a mid-to-late August return is not out of the question for the 27-year-old. |
Jun 17 2021 | Glasnow (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow's move to the 60-day IL is simply procedural after he recently underwent an MRI that revealed a partial UCL tear as well as a flexor strain in his right elbow. The right-hander is currently planning to rest rather than undergoing a surgical procedure, but he'll still miss extended time due to the injury. |
Jun 15 2021 | Glasnow was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday after an MRI revealed a partial UCL tear as well as a flexor strain in his right elbow, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: UCL tears frequently lead to Tommy John surgery, though the plan for now is for Glasnow to rest rather than undergo a surgical procedure. The timing of the injury makes that a sensible plan for the Rays, as undergoing the surgery now would already have a fairly high chance of ruling their ace out for all of next year, so the team can afford to wait a few months to see how rest and rehab goes without costing him any more games. The injury is a huge blow to Tampa Bay and to those with Glasnow on their fantasy teams, as the righty owns a dominant 2.66 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 36.2 percent strikeout rate through 14 starts. |
Jun 14 2021 | Glasnow left Monday's start against Chicago due to right elbow inflammation, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This is concerning news for one of Tampa Bay's top hurlers, though it remains unclear if he'll require a trip to the injured list. The team should know more about a timetable for his return after further evaluation. |
Jun 8 2021 | Glasnow (5-2) allowed one earned run on six hits and one walk while striking out 11 across seven innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow allowed his lone run in the third inning, but otherwise dominated the Nationals. He induced an exceptional 27 swinging strikes on 114 total pitches while on his way to posting double-digit strikeouts for seventh time in 13 starts this season. Also impressive has been Glasnow's ability to work deep into games, as he's worked at least seven innings in four of his last five outings. For the season, Glasnow has maintained a 2.57 ERA with 117 strikeouts across 84 total frames. |
Jun 5 2021 | Glasnow will start Tuesday against the Nationals instead of Sunday against the Rangers, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow is not dealing with any injury, but the Rays are just attempting to manage his workload. The move should also allow another day of rest for Ryan Yarbrough, who threw a complete game Thursday. Sunday will be a bullpen game for the Rays, with the starter yet to be announced. |
Jun 1 2021 | Glasnow allowed three earned rune on four hits and two walks while striking out eight across seven innings Tuesday against the Yankees. He did not factor into the decision. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow battled wildness in the third inning, as he walked two and also threw a wild pitch to force in two runs. However, he otherwise turned in another strong outing, generating 15 swinging strikes on 100 total pitches. Through 12 starts, Glasnow has completed seven or more innings on five occasions while striking out eight or more in nine outings. Overall, he has maintained a 2.69 ERA with 106 strikeouts across 77 frames. |
May 26 2021 | Glasnow allowed three hits and two walks while striking out 11 across eight scoreless innings Wednesday against the Royals. He did not factor into the decision. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow dominated the Royals and began his outing by retiring 13 consecutive batters. He's now racked up double-digit strikeouts in six of his 11 starts this season, with his effort Wednesday backed by 25 swinging strikes across 102 total pitches. Glasnow now owns a 2.57 ERA with 98 strikeouts across 70 innings for the season. |
May 22 2021 | Glasnow didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 9-7 extra-innings win over the Blue Jays, coughing up five runs on nine hits and a walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out two. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Jays jumped on Glasnow for four runs through the first three innings, but the Rays were able to tie it up after he exited and get the right-hander off the hook for the loss. The two strikeouts were his lowest total of the year by far -- he hadn't fanned fewer than seven in any of his previous nine outings -- while the five earned runs tied his season high. Despite the speed bump, Glasnow will take a 2.90 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 87:21 K:BB through 62 innings into his next outing. |
May 14 2021 | Glasnow allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out 10 over eight innings in a no-decision versus the Mets on Friday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The only damage against Glasnow came in the form of a two-run home run by Jonathan Villar in the fifth inning. Friday was the fifth time in nine starts Glasnow has racked up double-digit strikeouts. Unfortunately, he's given up seven long balls in his last five outings. For the season, the right-hander has a 2.35 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 85:20 K:BB across 57.1 innings. He remains at 4-2 heading into next week's start versus Baltimore. |
May 8 2021 | Glasnow (4-2) was tagged with the loss Saturday against the Athletics after allowing three runs on two hits and four walks while fanning 11 across 5.2 innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow couldn't complete the sixth inning and while the 11 strikeouts were nice, he still issued at least four walks for the third time over his last five starts. Glasnow has slowed down a bit after an excellent start to the campaign and has given up three or more runs in three of his last four starts, but he's still posted a strong 39:12 K:BB during that four-game stretch. He's tabbed to take the ball next week at home against the Mets. |
May 3 2021 | Glasnow (4-1) yielded three runs on four hits and four walks over six innings Monday, striking out eight and earning a win over the Angels. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow rolled through five scoreless innings before he coughed up two homers in the sixth to Shohei Ohtani and Anthony Rendon. After he issued just three walks in 19.2 innings to begin the season, the flamethrowing righty has now walked 12 batters in 24 innings over his last four starts. Still, he's sporting a strong 2.06 ERA and 64:15 K:BB. Glasnow is projected to face the Athletics on the road this weekend. |
Apr 29 2021 | Glasnow (3-1) picked up the win in Wednesday's 2-0 victory over the A's, giving up five hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings while striking out 10. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was another dominant performance for the 27-year-old right-hander, who threw 67 of 97 pitches for strikes while fanning double-digit batters for the third time in his last four starts. Glasnow will take a sparkling 1.67 ERA and 56:11 K:BB through 37.2 innings into his next start. |
Apr 23 2021 | Glasnow (2-1) allowed five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out 10 in six innings to take the loss against the Blue Jays on Friday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow struck out the first two batters he faced Friday, but he allowed the Blue Jays to put up four runs in a two-out rally in the first inning. While the Rays brought the game within one run in the bottom of the fifth inning, Glasnow gave up a solo home run in the top of the sixth and was ultimately charged with his first loss of 2021. The righty has posted a 2.05 ERA and 0.75 WHIP with 46 strikeouts in 30.2 innings across his first five starts of the season. He lines up to make his next start at home against the Athletics on Wednesday. |
Apr 17 2021 | Glasnow (2-0) earned the win Saturday against the Yankees after allowing one run on two hits with seven strikeouts and four walks over five innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 27-year-old was a bit wild and required 105 pitches for 15 outs, preventing him from working deeper into the contest. Still, it was another strong performance from Glasnow, who has surrendered only two runs over 24.2 innings to open the season. The right-hand should match up with the Blue Jays next weekend. |
Apr 12 2021 | Glasnow (1-0) picked up the win Monday, allowing two hits and a walk over 7.2 scoreless innings while striking out a career-high 14 in a 1-0 victory over the Rangers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Per Adam Berry of MLB.com, the right-hander produced a stunning 27 swings and misses, the most of any Tampa Bay hurler in a game since pitch tracking began in 2008, and Glasnow's 7.2 innings was also a career high. He'll take a dazzling 0.46 ERA and 29:3 K:BB through 19.2 innings into his next outing, set for Saturday on the road against the Yankees. |
Apr 6 2021 | Glasnow allowed one earned run on four hits while walking two and striking out nine across six innings Tuesday against the Red Sox. He did not factor into the decision. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow allowed a run to score in the first inning on a wild pitch, but mostly dominated the Red Sox from there. While his ability to generate whiffs is well established, Glasnow was able to stay in the strike zone effectively by beginning 14 of the 24 batters he faced with a strike and racking up 60 strikes on 97 total pitches. Though he has yet to get in the win column, Glasnow has a strong 15:2 K:BB across 12 innings and two starts to begin the campaign. He's projected to draw his next start Monday at home against the Rangers. |
Mar 28 2021 | Glasnow compiled 10 strikeouts while allowing three hits and two walks and uncorking a wild pitch over five innings in a Grapefruit League win over the Twins on Saturday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow worked up to 79 pitches in his final spring start before taking the ball Opening Day against the Marlins on Thursday and put forth what may have been his most dominant of his four spring outings. The right-hander finished Grapefruit League play with a stellar 27:7 K:BB across just 14.2 innings and has added a slider to an already highly effective fastball and curveball, laying the foundation for what might be his best season yet. |
Mar 23 2021 | Glasnow utilized the slider he's been working on developing this spring with great effectiveness during an 85-pitch outing in an intrasquad game Monday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports. "Today was by far the best day my slider's been -- like, by a million," Glasnow said. "So I'm super comfortable with it. ... And it was just easier to throw for strikes, too. Just like a little shift, pretty easy, so I'm encouraged by it." | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Opening Day starter also received accolades from pitching coach Kyle Snyder, who oversaw the outing, for his fastball, changeup and curveball, but the slider stood out due to the low 90s velocity Glasnow achieved with it following a tweak on his grip. The pitch also displayed more horizontal movement on it Monday than it had during a recent start against Atlanta, and Glasnow will have one more chance to refine it ahead of the regular season Saturday in his final Grapefruit League start. |
Mar 18 2021 | Glasnow recorded seven strikeouts but also allowed four earned runs on six hits and a walk over four innings in a Grapefruit League win over the Pirates on Wednesday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The newly minted Opening Day starter's biggest mistake came in the form of a two-run home run he surrendered to Bryan Reynolds, but Glasnow was otherwise able to miss plenty of bats for the second straight start. The big right-hander also stretched out to 76 pitches (50 strikes), keeping him right on track to open the regular season spearheading the Rays' rotation. |
Mar 17 2021 | Manager Kevin Cash announced Wednesday that Glasnow will start Opening Day against the Marlins, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was expected that Glasnow would start the Rays' first game of the regular season, and Wednesday's announcement confirms as much. Glasnow looked tp already be in regular-season form in his last spring start, punching out seven batters over four scoreless frames. He will take the ball again Wednesday and likely once or twice more before the exhibition slate comes to a close. |
Mar 12 2021 | Glasnow recorded seven strikeouts with only a hit, a walk and a wild pitch over four scoreless innings during a Grapefruit League loss to Atlanta on Thursday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Adam Berry of MLB.com reports the right-hander was as dominant as his line implies, with Glasnow utilizing his four-pitch mix to retire 11 batters in a row at one point against an Atlanta lineup replete with regulars. The presumptive staff ace heading into 2021, Glasnow stretched out to 52 pitches (34 strikes) Thursday while consistently dealing his fastball in the 97-99 mph range and keeping hitters off balance with the rest of his arsenal. "I felt really good. Timing was good. I think just incorporating the slider and the changeup made everything a lot easier," Glasnow said. |
Mar 6 2021 | Glasnow will no longer start Saturday's spring game against Atlanta after the game was canceled due to inclement weather, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow's fastball touched 100 mph multiple times during his Grapefruit League debut Monday, but his second start of spring training will be pushed back due to rain. It's not yet clear when the right-hander will make his next appearance. |
Mar 2 2021 | Glasnow came away pleased with his overall performance during his Grapefruit League debut against the Twins on Monday, an outing during which his fastball touched 100 mph multiple times, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports. "I'm a relatively slow starter. I just think it's more of getting a rhythm and getting back to that competition aspect," Glasnow said. "It was honestly just really good to be out there again, to feel that again and then kind of figure out what you need to build on and then just go out and do it again in five, six days." | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow's final line was far from sparkling, as he gave up two runs on two hits with three walks across 1.2 innings. However, with his first pitch already clocking 99 mph and the towering right-hander proceeding to hit 100 mph on four occasions in the first inning alone, Glasnow had the look of the staff ace he's projected to be this coming season. He also reported encouraging results from the new hybrid cutter/slider he's been developing that was averaging 86-87 mph in Monday's appearance, and manager Kevin Cash dismissed some of Glasnow's second-inning control issues by noting the majority of his pitches were still around the strike zone. |
Feb 24 2021 | Glasnow was impressive during his first time facing hitters this spring Wednesday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow threw 29 pitches overall to Ji-Man Choi, Joey Wendle, Yandy Diaz, Austin Meadows, Manuel Margot and Willy Adames, taking a simulated inning break after the first three batters. Glasnow came away particularly pleased with his comfort level and grip when deploying the new cutter/slider he's been working on, and he's looking forward to continuing to tweak it as spring training progresses. Meanwhile, manager Kevin Cash also noted how good the big right-hander's tempo and velocity was during the session, emphasizing Glasnow looked as good as he had during the postseason. |
Feb 18 2021 | Glasnow has been working on a new pitch which he described as a slider or cutter, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow has almost exclusively used a fastball and a curveball over the last two seasons, throwing the two pitches over 95 percent of the time in both years while turning to his changeup very infrequently. He's turned into a very strong pitcher using mainly just those two offerings, but another option to keep hitters guessing could elevate him to a new level. Of course, the mere fact that Glasnow is working on the pitch doesn't imply that it will turn into a high-quality weapon. |
Jan 15 2021 | Glasnow signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Rays on Friday to avoid arbitration, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 27-year-old is now officially under contract for 2021 after posting a 4.08 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 91:22 K:BB over 57.1 innings last season. Glasnow is Tampa Bay's clear ace entering spring training following the departure of Blake Snell. |
Oct 26 2020 | Glasnow was the pitcher of record Sunday in the Rays' 4-2 loss to the Dodgers in Game 5 of the World Series after giving up four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out seven over five innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: As per usual, the hard-throwing righty was able to miss bats at a decent clip with 16 swinging strikes among his 102 pitches, but command was once again an issue. That has been a recurring theme for Glasnow this postseason, as he's given up a home run in all but one of his six outings during the Rays' playoff run. Joc Pederson and Max Muncy took Glasnow deep Sunday, with the later long ball providing Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles bullpen all the cushion they would need. Should the Rays extend the series to a Game 7 on Wednesday, Glasnow could be available to pitch an inning or two out of the bullpen. |
Oct 20 2020 | Glasnow took to the loss to the Dodgers in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday. He allowed six runs on three hits and six walks while striking out eight over 4.1 innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow fanned eight, yet he was unable to escape the fifth inning. His first mistake came on a two-run homer to Cody Bellinger and then he began to lose command in the fifth inning, allowing four more earned runs. The 27-year-old threw 58 of his 112 pitches for strikes and recorded a first-pitch strike to just 13 of the 23 batters he faced. The right-hander struggled in his World Series debut but will likely get a chance to redeem himself so long as the Rays aren't swept. |
Oct 15 2020 | Glasnow took the loss in Game 3 of the ALCS against the Astros on Wednesday, allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out five and walking two over six innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow wasn't terrible, though he was clearly below his usual standard. Half of the damage was done by Jose Altuve, who hit a solo homer in the first inning and an RBI double in the third. George Springer followed with a two-run shot in the fourth. Glasnow was called upon to throw 2.1 innings on just two days' rest in Game 5 of the ALDS and could theoretically be asked to do something similar in Game 7 of this series should the Rays fail to win either of the next two games. |
Oct 8 2020 | Glasnow will start Game 5 of the ALDS against the Yankees on Friday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow recorded 10 strikeouts in his start during the second game of the series against New York on Tuesday. Blake Snell was in line to start Game 5, but manager Kevin Cash instead elected to go with Glasnow. However, Snell should be available along with the rest of the bullpen if Glasnow runs into trouble Friday. |
Oct 6 2020 | Glasnow (1-0) allowed four runs across five innings of work. He gave four hits and three walks while striking out 10 recording the win Tuesday over the Yankees in Game 2 of the ALDS. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow looked sharp as he struck out 10 Yankees in Tuesday's victory. The 27-year-old's two mistakes were both on account of Giancarlo Stanton as he hit a solo shot in the second inning and a towering three-run homer in the fourth inning. The right-hander threw 58 of his 93 pitches for strikes and his next chance at taking the mound would be if the Rays can advance to the ALCS. |
Oct 1 2020 | Glasnow earned the win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday in Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series. He allowed two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out eight over six innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Danny Jansen got to Glasnow for a pair of solo homers, accounting for all of Toronto's scoring in the loss. It's easy to forgive Glasnow for easing up a bit against the No. 9 hitter, especially considering the Rays got out to a 7-0 lead after two innings. Glasnow will get an extra day of rest before likely starting Game 2 of the American League Division Series. |
Sep 26 2020 | Glasnow will start Game 2 of the Rays' Wild Card Series on Wednesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander is likeliest to face the Blue Jays, which he did not pitch against during the regular season. Glasnow will come into the postseason in good recent form, considering he posted a 2-0 record, 2.45 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 18:3 K:BB across 11 innings over his last two regular-season starts against the Orioles and Mets. |
Sep 23 2020 | Glasnow (5-1) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk and struck out eight over six innings in a win over the Mets on Wednesday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow allowed solo shots to Andres Gimenez and Dominic Smith, but was otherwise dominant against the Mets. The right-handed Glasnow has won three straight starts and five of his last six outings. He now has a respectable 4.08 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 91:22 K:BB across 57.1 innings this season. Glasnow will look to keep up the solid work as a likely key member of the Rays' rotation in the playoffs. |
Sep 19 2020 | Glasnow (4-1) allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out 10 across five innings to earn his fourth win of the season Friday against the Orioles. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow came into Friday's contest averaging 14.2 K/9 and raised it to 14.6 by the time his night was over. He struck out the side in the first and the fourth en route to his second double-digit strikeout effort of the season. The hard-throwing righty's only mistake of the night was allowing an Austin Hays solo home run to begin the bottom half of the fourth. Glasnow seems to struggle a bit with keeping the baseball in the park -- he's let up a homer in eight of his 10 starts -- but he still sports a 4.21 ERA and an impressive 83:21 K:BB across 51.1 innings this season. |
Sep 13 2020 | Glasnow (3-1) picked up the win in Saturday's 5-4 victory over the Red Sox, giving up four runs on six hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out seven. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It wasn't the sharpest outing of the year for the 27-year-old, but Glasnow got just enough offensive support to get the win. Part of the problem was his inability to control the running game -- the Red Sox went 6-for-6 on steal attempts against the battery of Glasnow and Michael Perez, a weakness other teams are sure to exploit down the stretch if they get the chance. The right-hander will take a 4.47 ERA and 73:19 K:BB through 46.1 innings into his next start Friday in Baltimore. |
Sep 6 2020 | Glasnow allowed three runs on four hits and three walks across 5.1 innings in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Marlins. He struck out nine and did not factor in the decision. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Despite throwing 105 pitches, Glasnow fell two outs short of tallying his third consecutive quality start. Although he certainly would have preferred to work deeper into the game, the right-hander was able to punch out nine Marlins. He has now fanned at least eight in each of his last five outings and will take a 4.35 ERA into his start against Boston on Friday. |
Aug 31 2020 | Glasnow (2-1) picked up the win Monday, allowing two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings in a 5-3 victory over the Yankees. He struck out nine. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander didn't give up a hit until his final inning of work, and even then Willy Adames nearly made a spectacular play in the hole to throw out DJ LeMahieu and keep the no-no alive. Glasnow tossed 55 of 87 pitches for strikes, and over his last three starts he's posted a stellar 1.93 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 30:5 K:BB through 18.2 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing at home against the Marlins. |
Aug 26 2020 | Glasnow (1-1) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings in a 4-2 victory over the Orioles. He struck out a season-high 13. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander settled down quickly after serving up a solo shot to Renato Nunez in the first inning, and Glasnow recorded his first quality start of the season in addition to his first win and first double-digit strikeout performance. He threw a whopping 72 of his 96 pitches for strikes in the dominant outing, and the 27-year-old seems to be righting the ship after a shaky beginning to 2020. Glasnow will carry a 5.14 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 48:14 K:BB through 28 innings into his next start Sunday in Miami. |
Aug 19 2020 | Glasnow allowed two earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out eight across 5.2 innings Wednesday against the Yankees. He did not factor into the decision. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow turned in his longest start of the season, needing 88 pitches to retire 17 hitters. The major damage against him came on a solo home run by Luke Voit in the third inning, though Glasnow largely stymied the Yankees' lineup on the strength of 23 called strikes and nine swinging strikes. Walks were still a problem for Glasnow, and he now owns a 5.6 BB/9 for the season. Still, he'll look to build on this relatively positive outing in his next start, currently projected to come Monday against Toronto. |
Aug 13 2020 | Glasnow allowed five earned runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out eight across four innings Thursday against the Red Sox. He did not factor into the decision. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was given 10 runs to support his endeavor to earn his first win, but he failed to pitch efficiently enough to qualify. Positively, he kept the ball in the yard and racked up strikeouts. However, he surrendered five extra-base hits and regularly worked deep into counts while racking up his pitch count. Glasnow has an incredible 15.9 K/9 through 15.1 innings this season, but that is balanced by a 5.9 BB/9 and 1.8 HR/9. He has also yet to complete five innings of work in any of his four outings, but he'll look to change that his next time through the rotation Tuesday at the Yankees. |
Aug 8 2020 | Glasnow (0-1) took the loss in the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Yankees, allowing four runs on five hits in just 2.2 innings of work, striking out five while walking three. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow has failed to pitch long enough to earn a win in any of his three outings this season, though this time that was due to poor performance rather than by design. He matched Gerrit Cole with a pair of scoreless innings to start the game, getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the second, but he allowed a two-run homer to Mike Ford and a two-run double to Gio Urshela in the third, forcing him out of the game. He now owns a 5.56 ERA through his first three starts, with his 37.3 percent strikeout rate being offset by 15.7 percent walk rate and a 30.0 percent HR/FB rate. |
Aug 2 2020 | Glasnow, who allowed two earned runs on three hits and three walks while recording five strikeouts over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Saturday, is developing into one of the most uncomfortable pitchers for hitters to face, Matt Kelly of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: As Saturday's line indicates, Glasnow still has some work to do on his control, which has often been an albatross during his first four seasons coming into 2020. However, Kelly points out the combination of Glasnow's 97 mph fastball with his towering 6-foot-8 frame and expansive wingspan make him quite the intimidating sight from a batter's box view. The right-hander's 7.6 feet of average extension from the pitching rubber to the plate before uncorking a pitch ranked tops in the majors last season by a comfortable margin, and his four-pitch arsenal, which includes a fastball that can either ride high in the zone or cut to his glove side, makes life all that more difficult on hitters. Glasnow's struggles Saturday largely stemmed from poor location, but he offered a glimpse of how dominant he can be by racking up nine strikeouts and allowing just an earned run on a solo home run over four innings to the Braves in his first start of the season Monday. |
Jul 27 2020 | Glasnow didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 14-5 romp over Atlanta, allowing one run on one hit and two walks over four innings while striking out nine. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Rays gave him plenty of run support, but Glasnow was on a restricted pitch count and got pulled after 72 pitches (45 strikes), denying him the win despite his dominance. The right-hander had similar issues last season when he was healthy, averaging barely five innings over his 12 starts, but the 1.78 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 11.3 K/9 he posted in 2019 highlight his sky-high upside. |
Jul 26 2020 | Glasnow will take it one inning at a time in Monday's home start against the Braves, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He threw three innings in his final exhibition start in camp and was just so-so, as he struck out five but walked four. It sounds like Glasnow could theoretically go five-plus innings if he's on, but it also wouldn't be surprising if he didn't go deep enough to qualify for a win in his first start of the season. He lines up for a two-step, with his second start of the week coming in Baltimore over the weekend. |
Jul 21 2020 | Glasnow allowed two hits and four walks over three innings while recording five strikeouts during Monday's intrasquad start, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. "The feel for things just wasn't there today. I just couldn't get my curveball over, and it let guys sit on the heater," Glasnow said. "But I'm pleased with where I'm at." | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: As his line implies, Glasnow was a mixed bag in his intrasquad duel versus Blake Snell, with the big right-hander clearly fooling some of his teammates but also experiencing some trouble with location. One of the misplaced offerings resulted in the hardest-hit ball of the contest, a home run by Ji-Man Choi to right field. Glasnow lines up to start either the third or fourth game of the season against the Blue Jays next Sunday or Monday, and manager Kevin Cash attributed some of Glasnow's control issues Monday to the "workload restraints" of the shutdown and summer camp. |
Jul 14 2020 | Glasnow clarified Tuesday that his late arrival to camp was in fact due to COVID-19, which he tested positive for during intake testing, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow didn't arrive at camp until Tuesday but was already able to throw 49 pitches in a simulated game. He told reporters that he didn't experience much more than mild cold symptoms and was able to keep throwing while quarantined. He expects to be ready for the start of the season, though it's likely that he'll have a more limited workload than normal in his first outing or two. |
Jul 6 2020 | Glasnow has not been observed at any of the Rays' summer camp workouts at Tropicana Field, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was reported to be ready to take on a regular-season workload in the days leading up to summer camp, but he's now apparently been a non-participant for four days. The towering right-hander is due for a prominent rotation role in the coming season, although it remains to be seen if his ongoing absence is ultimately illness-related. |
Jul 2 2020 | Glasnow shouldn't be limited in terms of his workload during the truncated 2020 season, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow has reportedly been one of the Rays' most diligent players during the shutdown of spring training, throwing regularly in the Arizona area. The big southpaw had declared himself "ready right now" for the regular season back in early June, and he reiterated last week that he could "pitch five or six innings right now". While there certainly seems to be a bit of embellishment at play in that proclamation, Glasnow could well be one of the better-conditioned pitchers that's evaluated first-hand by the Rays coaching staff when summer camp opens Friday; additionally, the shortened regular season should also help ensure Glasnow is unleashed during his starts once the regular season begins. |
Jun 25 2020 | Glasnow is in the process of returning to the Tampa area from his Arizona home ahead of the Rays' upcoming summer camp, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow has been working out on his own in Arizona and apparently doing a very good job of it, considering pitching coach Kyle Snyder described the towering southpaw as "ready right now" for the regular season weeks ago. While there might have been at least a slight degree of embellishment in Snyder's comments given the restricted conditions players have been subjected to, Glasnow should have plenty of time to further condition himself for a late-July start to the 2020 campaign. |
Jun 7 2020 | Glasnow is "ready right now" to begin the regular season according to Rays pitching coach Kyle Snyder, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was not one of the pitchers who had a chance to throw off a mound at Tropicana Field on Friday under Snyder's supervision. However, the towering southpaw has been able to throw regular bullpen sessions in his local area while spring training has been suspended and has kept in regular contact with his pitching coach. Snyder is evidently impressed with the ongoing work Glasnow has been putting in to make such a proclamation, and the coach's optimism seems supported by the 26-year-old's on-field results. Glasnow followed up a stellar 1.78 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 76:14 K:BB across 12 starts last season with a pair of scoreless appearances in Grapefruit League action before play was paused. |
Apr 4 2020 | Glasnow is tabbed as a potential future ace of the Rays' staff by team beat writer Juan Toribio, Bill Ladson of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow was once considered the top prospect in the Pirates' organization, and his performance in an injury-shortened 2019 served as a tangible reminder of why. The towering right-hander posted a 1.78 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 76:14 K:BB across 12 starts and followed it up with a pair of scoreless appearances in Grapefruit League action this spring before play was suspended. Naturally, southpaw Blake Snell is also considered top-of-the-rotation material for the Rays, but Toribio notes Glasnow was arguably the AL's best pitcher over the first six weeks of last season and could ultimately be the team's most effective arm over the long term if he remains healthy. |
Mar 12 2020 | Glasnow threw 50 pitches across three innings in a simulated game Tuesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow worked with Mike Zunino as a battery mate and faced Nate Low, Kevan Smith and Daniel Robertson during his three frames. The right-hander threw 27 pitches for strikes in what would turn out to be his final tune-up for the regular season now that the remainder of spring training has been cancelled due to concerns over the COVID-19 virus. Glasnow finished Grapefruit League play with 2.2 scoreless innings during which he allowed three hits and posted a 5:1 K:BB across a pair of starts. |
Feb 28 2020 | Glasnow started Thursday's Grapefruit League split-squad win over the Tigers, firing a scoreless first inning during which he allowed a hit and a walk while recording two strikeouts. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Kevin Cash came away impressed with his young right-hander's performance, particularly the command Glasnow displayed with his fastball. Marc Topkin and Mari Faiello of the Tampa Bay Times report the only other pitch in his repertoire the 26-year-old utilized Thursday was the curveball, as Glasnow stayed away from both the changeup and splitter across his 19 pitches. Glasnow was pleased with his time on the mound, which featured the slight tweaks to his delivery he's been working on this offseason. He'll have a chance to stretch out to multiple innings in his next start, which is likely to come in the early portion of next week. |
Feb 19 2020 | Glasnow impressed in his first time facing live hitters Wednesday, a session where he threw 25 pitches, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. "He's worked hard," said manager Kevin Cash. "I was impressed. The effort level was good but it also was under control. You could tell by the way he was throwing so many strikes and his misses were just, just misses. You could tell by the hitters reactions that the stuff was coming out really, really hot." | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow mostly threw four-seam fastballs while facing Joey Wendle, Yoshitomo Tsutsugo and Hunter Renfroe during the session, but he also included a couple of changeups. Glasnow had reportedly decided to eliminate the pitch this coming season due to discomfort when throwing it, but after tweaking his mechanics this offseason, the right-hander is ready to deploy it once again. Glasnow has also been working on a splitter, and although he didn't utilize the pitch Wednesday, there appears to be a strong chance Glasnow enters the regular season with a four-pitch arsenal that also includes his four-seamer and curveball. |
Feb 8 2020 | Glasnow (wrist) has scrapped his changeup and has been working on a splitter as his new third pitch, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow almost exclusively used his fastball and curveball last season, throwing his changeup just 3.5 percent of the time. It would be premature to alter Glasnow's projection based purely on the news that he's learning a new pitch, but an altered pitch mix certainly brings the potential for a new level of performance. It's not effectiveness but rather health that's the worry for Glasnow, however. He posted an incredible 1.78 ERA and a 33.0 percent strikeout rate last season, but that came in just 12 starts. There's already some cause to worry about his health for the upcoming season, as he underwent a wrist procedure in November, but he's expected to be on schedule for the start of camp. |
Feb 7 2020 | Glasnow underwent a median nerve decompression procedure on his right wrist in November but has been throwing without issues and isn't expected to miss any time at the start of spring training, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Any surgery is a potential worry, and that's doubly true for a procedure on a pitcher's arm, but this particular surgery doesn't appear to be a major issue. Glasnow's health can't be fully trusted after forearm problems limited him to just 12 starts last season, and while this news adds at least a bit of extra risk, the righty can calm any potential fears by looking normal at the start of spring training. |
Jan 10 2020 | Glasnow and the Rays agreed to a one-year, $2,050,000 contract Friday, avoiding arbitration, freelance baseball writer Robert Murray reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow showed his promise in his first full season with the Rays in 2019, posting a 1.78 ERA and a 33.0 percent strikeout rate in 12 starts. A forearm strain cost him more than half his season, adding plenty of injury risk heading into the 2020 campaign, though he came back from it in September and looked as good as ever, striking out 21 batters while allowing just two runs in 12.1 innings of work. |
Oct 8 2019 | Glasnow will start Game 5 of the ALDS at Houston on Thursday, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Rays lost the first two games of the series but were able to win both games in Tampa Bay to force the winner-take-all contest. Glasnow took the mound in Game 1 and gave up two runs on four hits and three walks over 4.2 innings while recording five strikeouts. The 26-year-old reached 76 pitches in that outing and should be able to have a slightly higher workload Thursday. Gerrit Cole will start the deciding game for the Astros. |
Oct 2 2019 | Manager Kevin Cash said Glasnow is expected to start Game 1 of the ALDS at Houston | on Friday, Janie McCauley of the Associated Press reports. |
Oct 2 2019 | Manager Kevin Cash said Glasnow is expected to start Game 1 of the ALDS at Houston on Friday, Janie McCauley of the Associated Press reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow posted a 1.46 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB over 12.1 innings across his four September outings after returning from a forearm strain, so it makes sense he'd receive the nod for Game 1 after Charlie Morton delivered five shutout frames in Wednesday's Wild Card Game. Glasnow topped out at 4.1 innings and 66 pitches during his last start Sept. 27, which provides a framework for his potential pitch count in the series opener |
Sep 27 2019 | Glasnow surrendered two walks and struck out four over 4.1 scoreless innings Friday night against the Blue Jays. He didn't factor into the decision. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow would depart with a three-run lead, and the Rays would go on to clinch a postseason berth with a 6-2 victory. The 26-year-old right-hander has been stellar on the hill of late, as he's now tossed 10.1 scoreless frames over his last three outings. Glasnow owns a 1.78 ERA and 0.89 WHIP with a 76:14 K:BB over 60.2 innings this season. |
Sep 22 2019 | Glasnow allowed two hits with zero walks and seven strikeouts across three innings during a no-decision against the Red Sox on Saturday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Rays have been cautious with Glasnow, who missed a majority of the summer with a forearm strain, since he returned from the IL. He didn't make it through the four innings the Rays planned, but he was spectacular through three frames, striking out at least two batters per inning. Glasnow owns a 2.25 ERA and 17 strikeouts in eight innings since returning from his injury. Overall, he is 6-1 with a 1.92 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, .198 batting average against and 72 strikeouts in 56.1 innings this season. Glasnow will make one final start during the regular season at the Blue Jays on Friday. |
Sep 21 2019 | Glasnow is expected to cover around four innings Saturday in his start against the Red Sox. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Rays are still proceeding slowly with Glasnow as he builds up his arm following a prolonged shutdown due to the forearm strain he suffered in mid-May. The early returns have been promising for Glasnow, who has routinely sported a high-90s fastball while allowing two runs and striking out 10 in five innings since he was activated from the injured list. Assuming he avoids any setbacks in Saturday's outing, Glasnow would likely be in store for around five or six innings in his final start of the regular season next weekend in Toronto. |
Sep 15 2019 | Glasnow didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Angels, giving up two hits and a walk over three scoreless innings while striking out five. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander got stretched out to 51 pitches (29 strikes) in his second outing since returning from the injured list, but he looked much sharper in this one than he did last weekend against the Jays. Glasnow has a 10:3 K:BB through five innings in September, and the Rays will continue gradually increasing his workload as they try to lock down a wild-card spot. His next start is scheduled for Friday, at home against Boston. |
Sep 10 2019 | Glasnow is slated to continue building up his pitch count over his remaining starts, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The word on Glasnow throughout his rehab had been that he'd only be used as a reliever upon his return, but he started Sunday and Toribio's report indicates that manager Kevin Cash will continue to extend Glasnow's workload. The right-hander worked up to 41 pitches across a pair of frames in his return, and he's slated to work 3-to-4 innings in his next start. If all continues as planned, Glasnow will presumably be built up enough by the end of the regular season to serve as a conventional starter if the Rays are able to clinch a playoff spot. |
Sep 8 2019 | Glasnow gave up two runs on one hit and two walks while striking out five through two innings in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Sunday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Only expected to pitch a couple of innings in his first outing off the injured list, Glasnow struck out the first three batters he faced before walking two and allowing a two-run home run in the second frame. On the positive side, the 26-year-old hit 100 MPH on his fastball and generated six swinging strikes. Glasnow has a 2.15 ERA and 60 strikeouts through nine starts this season. Glasnow is scheduled to be the opener again Saturday at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. |
Sep 6 2019 | Glasnow (forearm) will be activated to start Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Glasnow is expected to pitch 2-to-3 innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Rays were thinking about sending Glasnow for one more rehab start with Triple-A Durham, but they will instead activate Glasnow for the final game of the homestand. Trevor Richards, who was also a candidate for that start, could follow Glasnow in a piggyback role. Glasnow was on a brilliant run to start the year, posting a 1.86 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in eight starts before going down with the forearm strain. |
Sep 4 2019 | Glasnow (forearm) was in the Rays' clubhouse prior to Tuesday's doubleheader and reported feeling "really good" following Monday night's rehab appearance, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Glasnow worked up to 33 pitches in the appearance, which was a high-water mark for him since going down with his forearm strain May 10. The right-hander remains unsure whether activation or another rehab appearance with Triple-A Durham or Double-A Montgomery is his next step, but the fact his arm seemed to have tolerated the increased activity well is certainly a positive. "Really encouraged by his performance," manager Kevin Cash said. "We haven't decided yet, we're still talking through it. We were just thrilled Glas got in the two innings or whatever it was [Monday]. [He] felt good. Everybody said the stuff looked good." |

Jun 16 2018 | Glasnow recorded his second hold of the season Friday, hurling a scoreless seventh inning against Cincinnati. | Pitching for the first time since June 7, when he threw 37 pitches for the second time in three days, Glasnow retired the Reds on nine pitches. He continues to build into a high-leverage situational option. The righty warmed up in the ninth inning of Wednesday's win in Arizona after closer Felipe Vazquez ran into some trouble, but wasn't called upon. General manager Neal Huntington said during his most recent radio show that it would be unfair to ask the team's sixth and seventh starters, Steven Brault and Glasnow, to serve as starting pitchers "when you have a need," because they've thrown out of the bullpen for most of 2018. At some point Glasnow will likely get another chance to start but for now the team needs him out of the pen. |
Jun 7 2018 | Glasnow was tagged for three earned runs over 2.0 innings of relief Thursday against the Giants. He allowed a home run and a walk while registering two strikeouts. | The Pirates and Dodgers were neck-and-neck Thursday before Glasnow's shaky outing allowed Los Angeles to break the game open. He had given up just one earned run over a 14.2 inning stretch from May to early June, but Thursday marked his second outing with a home run allowed. Still, two rough outings won't be enough to knock Glasnow out of his middle relief role. |
Jun 1 2018 | Glasnow threw two scoreless innings Thursday, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out one batter. | Since imploding for six runs in one inning May 1, the righty has given up one earned run in 13.2 innings over eight appearances. He's throwing his four-seam fastball harder (97.3 mph) than last year (95.1 mph). Glasnow's also throwing more strikes (68 percent) during his hot stretch than in prior seasons (59 percent). Pittsburgh has carefully restricted his usage while rebuilding his confidence in 2018. Given the team's recent bullpen struggles, however, he's becoming the last man standing and it's possible the Bucs give him high-leverage opportunities in the near future. |
May 9 2018 | Glasnow (1-1) earned the win Tuesday, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out three against the White Sox. | Starter Ivan Nova lasted just two innings and exited with the Pirates trailing 5-4, but Glasnow was able to quiet the White Sox bats until Pittsburgh reclaimed the lead. It was a nice bounce-back effort, as the 24-year-old had given up six runs in just one inning in his last appearance. He now sports a 6.75 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 18.2 innings this season. |
Apr 30 2018 | Glasnow debuted a slider as part of his arsenal in his relief appearance Friday against the Cardinals after experimenting with the pitch in flat-ground sessions earlier in the week, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. | During his three shutout innings Friday, Glasnow broke in the slider for six of the 33 pitches, including his final throw of the night that struck Kolten Wong out swinging. The new pitch was instrumental in Glasnow delivering his best showing of the season, as he allowed only three of the 12 batters he faced to reach base while finishing with four strikeouts. Since Glasnow hasn't had the opportunity to get a good feel for his curveball while working out of the bullpen this season, it appears the slider could become his new go-to breaking ball, which would likely aid his chances of finding success against opposite-handed hitters like Wong. Lefties have posted a .913 OPS against Glasnow this season, a 456-point increase from the mark he has allowed versus right-handed hitters. |
Apr 28 2018 | Glasnow threw three scoreless relief innings Friday, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out four St. Louis batters. | He kept his team within striking distance as it turned a 5-0 deficit into an extra-inning victory. Glasnow threw 67 percent of his pitches for strikes (22 of 33) -- representing his best mark of 2018. He also struck out the side in order in the eighth inning. The 24-year-old is making impressive strides toward becoming a major-league pitcher after two initial seasons of struggle. Expect him to get another look as a starting pitcher later in the summer. |
Apr 22 2018 | Glasnow will not be available to pitch Sunday after throwing 73 pitches in relief Thursday. | Speaking on his Sunday radio show, manager Clint Hurdle said that the 6-foot-8 right-hander would not be available to pitch against the Phillies. Glasnow struck out seven batters in 3.2 innings Thursday, allowing two runs in relief of starter Jameson Taillon. |
Apr 5 2018 | Glasnow allowed one run in three relief innings Wednesday, striking out five while giving up two hits and two walks. | He wasn't efficient -- throwing 55 pitches (35 for strikes) -- but the mid-30s temperature presented less-than-ideal playing conditions. While the Pirates chose Steven Brault over Glasnow to start in Joe Musgrove's (shoulder) place Thursday, the right-hander's stock is still rising. After two unsuccessful seasons in the majors, it's likely the team is simply looking for Glasnow to experience some success before placing him in high-leverage situations. It's early, but the 6-foot-8 righty is making progress with his mechanics (and confidence) and could become more fantasy relevant in the not-too-distant future. |
Apr 1 2018 | Glasnow hurled a pair of scoreless innings in Game 2 of Sunday's win, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out two. | He followed up a strong final Grapefruit League performance with an equally impressive showing Sunday. Glasnow is releasing the ball over the top instead of allowing his hand to throw the pitch across his body, DK Pittsburgh Sports reports. His four-seam fastball has better movement on it and the results continue to improve. Glasnow has struggled with control throughout his career, but these recent adjustments give hope that he might finally un-tap some of his potential. |
Mar 23 2018 | Glasnow will start the 2018 campaign in the Pirates' bullpen, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports. | Glasnow turned in an impressive performance during Sunday's outing against Boston which seemingly secured his spot on the Opening Day roster. In 2017, he appeared in 15 big-league games -- starting 13 -- and posted a 7.69 ERA and 2.02 WHIP over 62 innings. |
Mar 18 2018 | Glasnow (illness) will start for the Pirates in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox, Elizabeth Bloom of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. | Glasnow was initially slated to start March 12, but he ended up getting pushed back nearly a week in the pitching schedule after coming down with flu-like symptoms. Now healthy after completing a bullpen session Thursday without incident, Glasnow will look to rebound from a rough start to Grapefruit League action after supplying a 11.74 ERA and 1.96 WHIP through his first 7.2 innings of the spring. Even if Glasnow shows marked improvement with his command Sunday, he still looks destined to open the season in the Triple-A Indianapolis rotation. |
Mar 18 2018 | Glasnow struck out six batters in 4.2 innings of one-run ball Sunday against the Red Sox. | He likely cemented a spot in the Opening Day bullpen with the performance. Glasnow hadn't pitched in 11 days prior to Sunday and his recent performances had been trending down. The 6-foot-8 righty continues to have issues with control -- he walked two Boston batters -- but he finally featured better command of the strike zone. Perhaps most impressively, Glasnow pitched effectively without his best velocity. |
Mar 14 2018 | Glasnow (illness) is expected to throw a side session Thursday in preparation for his next start, DK Pittsburgh Sports reports. | The 6-foot-8 righty missed his Monday start with the flu. Glasnow last pitched March 7, when he allowed seven runs (six earned) on six hits and three walks in 2.2 innings. Given that he's struggled against major-league hitters, he'll likely need to string together an effective outing or two before breaking camp or risk yet another demotion to Triple-A. |
Mar 12 2018 | Glasnow was scratched from his scheduled Grapefruit League start Monday against the Orioles with flu-like symptoms, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic Pittsburgh reports. | While the illness doesn't look to be a serious setback for Glasnow, it nonetheless comes at an inconvenient time since the young left-hander was in desperate need of a strong outing Monday to bolster his case for a spot in the Pirates' Opening Day rotation. Glasnow may simply be pushed back a few days in the pitching schedule and get a chance to impress the team brass later this week, but it remains likely that he'll work out of the bullpen or at Triple-A Indianapolis to begin the season. Alex McRae will pick up the start Monday in Glasnow's stead. |

Mar 2 2018 | Glasnow allowed two earned runs in three innings Friday, walking none while striking out six, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. | Manager Clint Hurdle was encouraged by Glasnow's outing. "His overall pace and rhythm was better," Hurdle said. "The fact that he didn't walk anybody, struck out six, repeated his delivery. A couple mistakes with changeup and a curveball up, but outside of that I though he pitched a pretty good game." The righty teased fantasy owners with a strong spring training start last year before compiling a 7.69 ERA and 2.02 WHIP in 62 innings. Glasnow will likely start 2018 in Pittsburgh's bullpen with a chance to join the rotation during the season. He makes for an interesting end-game pickup, considering the 24-year-old sports a career 11.9 K/9 in minor-league action. |
Feb 16 2018 | With the acquisition of starter Joe Musgrove over the winter, Glasnow's best chance of making the Opening Day roster may come as a long reliever, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. | "Tyler's going to have an opportunity to go and pitch, show us the consistency and ability to get outs in this vacuum," manager Clint Hurdle said. "Whether it's finding a way in the rotation somehow, someway or whether it's an opportunity to be a multiple-inning reliever out of the bullpen, they're both real. He just needs to be given the ball and see what he can do with it." Glasnow compiled a 6.30 ERA and 2.02 WHIP -- including a 56:44 K:BB -- in 62 innings for Pittsburgh in 2017. He once again dominated Triple-A, however, going 9-2 with a 1.93 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 140:32 K:BB in 93.1 innings. The 6-foot-8 righty will get every chance to figure things out at the major league level. If he does, fantasy owners will be well rewarded. |

Dec 12 2017 | General manager Neal Huntington said the Pirates are open to using Glasnow out of the bullpen to start the season, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. | While Huntington noted the team views Glasnow as a starter long term, he didn't rule out the possibility of using him in a relief role. Despite being one of the more promising young arms in the game, Glasnow has yet to put it together at the major-league level, posting a 6.75 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 6.0 BB/9 over the past two seasons (85.1 innings). The 24-year-old owns a much more respectable 3.75 ERA in 12 innings of relief, so the Pirates may be hoping he can find form in the bullpen before moving back to the rotation. |
Sep 18 2017 | Glasnow will pitch in relief Wednesday before rejoining the Pirates' rotation, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. | Glasnow struggled in his return to the Pirates' rotation last week, so they'll temporarily shift him to a bullpen role before sending him back out for another start. It sounds like he'll be the first man used out of the bullpen following starter Steven Brault. He's expected to rejoin Pittsburgh's rotation following Wednesday's relief appearance, though it's unclear when his next start will come. |
Sep 14 2017 | Glasnow (2-7) allowed five runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three batters through just 2.2 innings during Wednesday's loss to Milwaukee. | After finding his form through 15 starts with Triple-A Indianapolis (1.93 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 13.5 K/9), it was discouraging to see Glasnow struggle in his return to the majors. The 24-year-old righty now sports a disastrous 6.25 FIP through 13 starts with Pittsburgh this season. Despite his tremendous upside and potential to provide a fantasy boost over the final weeks of the season, Glasnow can't be started with confidence in most settings. He lines up to face the Brewers at home in his next start. |

Sep 10 2017 | Glasnow was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday. | This move doesn't come as much of a surprise, as Glasnow is one of the Pirates' primary options to start Tuesday's game against the Brewers. However, Glasnow has been a liability on the mound for the Pirates this season. After making 12 starts (54.3 innings) he owns an ERA and WHIP of 7.45 and 1.91, respectively. |
Sep 10 2017 | Glasnow will start Wednesday against the Brewers, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. | The right-hander was recalled Sunday, and this confirms the club plans to try him out in the rotation again. Glasnow blazed through Triple-A Indianapolis this season, nailing down a 1.93 ERA with 140 strikeouts and only 32 walks in 93.1 innings (15 starts). He's again made several adjustments to his approach, including speeding up his delivery, and these seem to be working. This could wind up being a different Glasnow down the stretch than the version who carries a 7.45 ERA for his major-league season. Don't let season-long numbers deter you from streaming him for potentially favorable matchups, including his return outing that could help him pile up whiffs. |
Sep 10 2017 | Glasnow could start for Pittsburgh as soon as Tuesday following the elimination of Triple-A Indianapolis, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. | Manager Clint Hurdle said the team will skip Jameson Taillon's rotation turn Tuesday. "We're going to skip him," Hurdle said prior to Indy's elimination. "Who we're going to plug in is yet to be determined. We've got Steven Brault. We'll see how the Triple A situation works out, but somebody will pick up his start." It appears that either Brault or Glasnow will get the nod Tuesday. Expect GM Neal Huntington to provide further details Sunday. |
Sep 8 2017 | Glasnow will be an option to start next against the Brewers in place of Jameson Taillon. | Taillon is being skipped, and while manager Clint Hurdle did not immediately name his replacement, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette points out that Glasnow is on the same schedule as Taillon. Glasnow put together an excellent season with Triple-A Indianapolis and really made strides with his control late in the year, issuing just 17 walks in his final 64 regular-season innings with the affiliate. |
Sep 2 2017 | The Pirates are not expected to recall Glasnow until Triple-A Indianapolis concludes its playoff run, something which might not happen until mid-September, Pirates Prospects reports. "I don't anticipate us making any call-ups at all until the playoff season are over for Altoona and Indy," manager Clint Hurdle said. "We, as an organization, believe there's gainful experience for the guys that are down there." | The first round of the playoffs start Sept. 6 and could run through Sept. 10, with the five-game championship series then taking place immediately thereafter. As a result, it's possible that Glasnow might only make a couple starts for Pittsburgh. Hurdle did sound excited about the prospects of seeing the 6-foot-8 righty back in the majors. "We're not talking about that many guys, but to get Tyler Glasnow get re-plugged in, yeah, that's definitely on our radar." Since returning to Triple-A in June, Glasnow has lowered his walks total (3.09 BB/9) while increasing his strikeouts (13.50 K/9). He's credited the improvement to pitching almost exclusively out of the stretch. |
Aug 13 2017 | Glasnow, who has compiled a 7-0 record with a 1.57 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 103:26 K:BB in 68.2 Triple-A innings since a demotion to the minors, has pitched exclusively out of the stretch for Indianapolis, Pirates Prospects reports. | The 6-foot-8 righty believes the simplistic approach has helped with his success. "In the windup I always felt like it was extra movements for no reason," Glasnow said. "I think that was my problem even in the minor leagues, switching from windup to the stretch, I felt like I had two different deliveries. I think being more athletic in the stretch has been way easier for me." He said the physical change has allowed him to relax mentally and his fastball velocity has spiked back to the high 90s. Glasnow is expected to serve as a September recall, if not sooner. |
Aug 2 2017 | Since Pittsburgh demoted Glasnow to Triple-A Indianapolis in mid-June, the righty has compiled a 6-0 record, 1.46 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 85:24 K:BB in 55.2 innings. | With Pittsburgh falling out of the playoff hunt, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team recall the 6-foot-8 rookie in the near future. Glasnow has enjoyed plenty of success at the Triple-A level, but his first two shots in the big leagues have proven to be busts. He put up a 7.45 ERA and 1.91 WHIP in 54.1 innings with the Pirates earlier in 2017. General manager Neal Huntington recently spoke of Glasnow's ceiling as a top-of-the-rotation starter, making the pitcher a potential "show-me" fantasy option down the stretch. |
Jul 15 2017 | Glasnow hurled seven scoreless innings for Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out six. | Since the Pirates demoted him to Triple-A on June 10, Glasnow has compiled a 1.49 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 55:15 K:BB in 36.1 innings. Pittsburgh's current rotation is probably the strongest it's been all season long, so the 6-foot-8 righty will likely have to wait for injuries to strike before he returns to PNC Park. In the meantime, he'll continue to regroup at Triple-A after posting a 7.45 ERA in 12 early-season starts for the Bucs. |
Jun 10 2017 | Glasnow (2-6) surrendered seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits over four innings while striking out only one in Friday's 12-7 loss to the Marlins. | He served up multiple homers for the second straight start, and there have been few signs of progress from the 23-year-old through his 12 outings this season. With Jameson Taillon (groin) set to return next week, the Pirates could use that as an excuse to send Glasnow back to Triple-A Indianapolis to try and get himself straightened out, but if he remains in the rotation his next start will likely come Friday at home against the Cubs. |
Jun 3 2017 | Glasnow (2-5) pitched five innings, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Mets. | The long ball bit Glasnow early and often against the Mets, serving one up in three of the first four innings. Saturday was the fourth time in five starts that Glasnow has failed to pitch more than five innings. One of the more heralded pitching prospects heading into the season, Glasnow now carries a 6.95 ERA. Control has been one of the biggest culprits, as he has given out two or more free passes in 10 of his 11 starts and averages 5.19 BB/9. He will look to turn things around on Friday when he faces the Marlins. |
May 24 2017 | Glasnow worked around nine hits to allow just two runs over six innings in Atlanta on Tuesday. He struck out four and walked two. | While Glasnow is steadily showing signs of improvement, he also certainly hasn't reached peak efficiency yet, as his stats make painfully evident. His upside as a highly pedigreed starter for a Pirates team with a history of developing arms well makes Glasnow intriguing for fantasy purposes, but few of his stats offer much reason for optimism that he'll improve markedly in the near term. The 23-year-old still needs to get a handle on his control and get better at keeping the ball in the yard. |
May 18 2017 | Glasnow (2-3) allowed four runs -- two earned -- on three hits and three walks while striking out six batters through five innings during Thursday's win over Washington. | It's been a discouraging start to the season for the touted righty. Glasnow has showcased his swing-and-miss stuff with a 9.7 K/9, but his 7.34 ERA and 1.95 WHIP are crippling ratios. In particular, Glasnow's 6.3 BB/9 hasn't enabled him to pitch deep into games or have fantasy success. Fine-tuning his command will be essential to Glasnow taking advantage of his natural gifts, and most notably his mid-90s heat. A road start against the Braves is up next for the 23-year-old righty. |
May 13 2017 | Glasnow (1-3) was roughed up for seven runs on seven hits and two walks over 2.1 innings in Friday's 11-4 loss to the Diamondbacks. He struck out three. | The 23-year-old continues to take his lumps in the majors, and Glasnow has given up at least three runs in every start this season to saddle him with a 7.98 ERA and 2.08 WHIP through 29.1 innings. He does have a 9.5 K/9, but that's about the only silver lining to his performance so far. Things won't get any easier for Glasnow in his next start Thursday at home against the Nationals, who have a .352 wOBA against right-handers this season. |
