Over his past 10 games, the 32-year-old has notched five multi-hit efforts while tallying five home runs, seven RBI, seven runs scored and two steals. For the season, he's slashing .249/.312/.465 with 15 long balls, 41 RBI, 36 runs scored and six stolen bases across 301 plate appearances. |
Jun 12 2025 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo extended the Mets' lead to 4-0 in the fifth inning with a homer off Michael Soroka, his 13th of the year and third in two games. The 32-year-old Nimmo is certainly heating up at the plate -- he's gone 8-for-21 (.381) over his last five contests. He's slashing .241/.305/.452 with 37 RBI, 33 runs scored and four stolen bases across 266 plate appearances this year. |
Jun 11 2025 | Nimmo went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs, an additional run scored and a walk in Wednesday's 5-0 win over Washington. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo enjoyed his second multi-homer effort of the season, and he's now put together a modest four-game hitting streak. The veteran outfielder had a sluggish start to the campaign, but he's heating up to the tune of a .310/.385/.569 slash line, four homers, three doubles, nine RBI and three stolen bases over his last 65 plate appearances. During this stretch, Nimmo has posted at least one hit in 13 of his 15 outings. |
Jun 5 2025 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Friday's 6-5 loss to the Dodgers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: In just 59 games, Nimmo has already clinched his fourth straight season with double-digit home runs. The 32-year-old has produced runs for his team at a good rate as of late, knocking in five RBI in his last six games played. He is now slashing .233/.298/.423 on the season. |
Jun 1 2025 | Nimmo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo started the previous five games and will receive a day off after going 8-for-19 with a double and a homer during that span. Starling Marte will take over in left field versus lefty Carson Palmquist on Sunday. |
May 31 2025 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs scored in Saturday's 8-2 victory over the Rockies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo crushed his ninth homer of the season and first since May 11. The left fielder has been streaky to start 2025 but has tapped into his contact skills lately, hitting .381 (8-for-21) over his past seven games. The 32-year-old raised his season OPS above .700 with Saturday's performance and is now slashing .232/.294/.419 across 198 at-bats. |
May 29 2025 | Nimmo went 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored in Wednesday's loss to the White Sox. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran outfielder has been an on-base machine for most of his career, but Wednesday's performance was the first time since May 5 that Nimmo has drawn multiple free passes in the same game, and only the third time he's done it in 2025. He's gotten on base seven times in three games since returning from a brief absence due to a stiff neck earlier this week, but the improved OBP may be a result of moving up in the batting order rather than improved health. After spending the season hitting in the heart of the order between fourth and sixth, manager Carlos Mendoza has slotted Nimmo into the two-hole the last three contests. |
May 27 2025 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a double in Monday's win over the White Sox. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran outfielder had gone 0-for-16 over his prior six games before sitting out Saturday and Sunday with a stiff neck, but Nimmo pulled out of the skid in his return by cracking a first-inning double off Adrian Houser. Nimmo's been unable to build any momentum at the plate this season, slashing .219/.279/.404 through 50 contests with eight homers, 19 runs and 27 RBI, but as yet, his spot in the everyday lineup doesn't seem to be in jeopardy. |
May 26 2025 | Nimmo (neck) is in the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox, starting in left field and batting second. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Neck stiffness forced Nimmo from Friday's game and kept him out for the final two games of the weekend series against the Dodgers, but he has received the green light to return against right-hander Adrian Houser. While he's been mostly healthy since turning the page on a knee issue in spring training, Nimmo is slashing just .212/.274/.397 with eight homers and one steal across 197 plate appearances so far this season. |
May 25 2025 | Nimmo (neck) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers, and it's unclear if he'll be available off the bench after not taking part in baseball activities Saturday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran outfielder was removed from Friday's contest due to neck stiffness and will sit Sunday for the second consecutive game. Jeff McNeil will shift to left field in place of Nimmo, while Jared Young enters the lineup at designated hitter. |
May 24 2025 | Nimmo (neck) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was pulled from Friday's game in the second inning due to neck stiffness, and he'll need at least one more day to recover before rejoining the starting nine. While he sits, Starling Marte will start in left field. |
May 23 2025 | Nimmo was removed from Friday's game against the Dodgers due to neck stiffness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo collided with the outfield wall while chasing down a flyball in the second inning of Friday's contest, and he was replaced in left field during the third inning following a 98-minute rain delay. If the 32-year-old needs to miss any additional starts, Jeff McNeil would be the most likely candidate to pick up time in the outfield with Luisangel Acuna starting at second base. |
May 21 2025 | Nimmo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo had started in every game for the Mets dating back to May 1, and the Red Sox are sending a tough southpaw (Garrett Crochet) to the hill for the series finale, so the veteran outfielder is presumably getting a planned day off Wednesday. Starling Marte will fill in for Nimmo in left field and will bat second. |
May 11 2025 | Nimmo went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a hit-by-pitch in Sunday's 6-2 victory over the Cubs. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 32-year-old extended New York's lead to 6-2 with a 381-foot long ball off reliever Gavin Hollowell. This performance was a welcome sight as Nimmo has struggled since his nine-RBI game April 28, batting .206 (7-for-34) with a homer, four runs scored and two RBI across 10 games. Overall, the veteran outfielder is slashing .224/.288/.429 with 18 runs scored and 25 RBI through 163 plate appearances. |
May 3 2025 | Nimmo went 3-for-3 with two walks, a solo home run and two additional runs scored in Friday's 9-3 win over the Cardinals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: His seventh-inning shot off John King was the highlight of a huge performance from Nimmo, who has been running hot and cold over the last week-plus. The veteran outfielder has three multi-hit efforts in his last seven starts, but he went 0-for-16 in the other four games. On the season, Nimmo's slashing .229/.279/.441 with seven homers, 16 runs and 22 RBI in 31 contests. |
May 1 2025 | Nimmo (illness) will start in left field and bat sixth in Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was out of the lineup the previous two days because he was under the weather, although he did appear as a pinch hitter Wednesday. He's feeling well enough to give it a go in Thursday's series finale. |
Apr 30 2025 | Nimmo (illness) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Diamondbacks. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After a two-homer, nine-RBI effort Monday, Nimmo has now sat out back-to-back contests due to an illness. He is considered day-to-day. Jeff McNeil will patrol left field for the Mets on Wednesday. |
Apr 12 2025 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Athletics. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo snapped the shutout in the sixth inning when he took J.T. Ginn deep to right field for a solo homer, the Mets' only run of the game. Nimmo has started the season slashing .208/.259/.472 with four home runs and nine RBI but zero steals across 58 plate appearances. |
Mar 31 2025 | Nimmo went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Monday's 10-4 win over Miami. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo put the finishing touches on Monday's rout with a two-run shot in the sixth inning to push the Mets in front 10-1. The veteran outfielder was limited in spring training due to a knee issue, but each of his four regular-season appearances have come in left field thus far, and Nimmo shouldn't struggle for RBI opportunities in 2025 while batting in the heart of New York's star-studded lineup. |
Mar 17 2025 | Nimmo (knee) will start in left field and will bat second in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo made his spring debut in left field back on Feb. 28, but after experiencing right knee soreness coming out of that contest, he was held out of action for nearly two weeks before returning to the lineup as a designated hitter Thursday. He made another start at DH on Saturday, and with Nimmo having thus far experienced no setbacks with his knee, the Mets appear to be comfortable with testing him out in left field again. The Mets could still look to manage Nimmo's workload in the outfield early on during the season, but the fact that he's available to play defense again in Grapefruit League play suggests that he's in line to make the Opening Day roster. |
Mar 14 2025 | Nimmo (knee) said Friday he should be available to serve as the Mets' designated hitter on Opening Day but may not be ready to play the outfield, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The outfielder had a delayed start to camp while finishing up his recovery from the plantar fasciitis that plagued him in 2024, and some soreness in his right knee cropped up in early March. Nimmo estimated that he's feeling about 80 percent healthy after returning to the lineup as a DH on Thursday, and his status is worth monitoring during the final stretch before Opening Day. |
Mar 13 2025 | Nimmo (knee) will start at designated hitter and bat second in Thursday's Grapefruit League contest versus the Red Sox, Manny Gomez of NJ.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo will be making just his second start of the spring after he was initially held back early in camp because of a lingering plantar fasciitis issue in his left foot and more recently dealt with right knee soreness. He'll need to show he can play the outfield without the knee flaring up on him, but all signs point to Nimmo being ready to go for Opening Day. |
Mar 10 2025 | Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Nimmo (knee) resumed baseball activities Monday, Danny Abriano of SNY.tv reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was given a gel injection Friday to combat soreness in his right knee and had been expected to return to Grapefruit League play Saturday or Sunday. While his recovery has taken a bit longer than expected, the Mets do not appear concerned, with Mendoza saying he's hopeful Nimmo can play in games "pretty soon." Nimmo has played just one game this spring, as he was initially held back early in camp because of a lingering plantar fasciitis issue in his left foot. |
Mar 8 2025 | Nimmo (knee) received a gel injection Friday and will remain out of baseball activities for the next one to two days, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Diagnosed with knee inflammation, Nimmo hasn't played in a Grapefruit League game since Feb. 28, his only appearance of the spring to date. He had planned to ramp up his running to 100 percent Friday but was only able to get to 85 percent, according to manager Carlos Mendoza, so the Mets are delaying his return to the field. "We're still shooting for Opening Day," Mendoza said. "We feel like we have enough time here for him to get plenty of at-bats. Once we get closer to Opening Day, whether he's not running 100 percent, he's not getting at-bats or he's not doing any baseball activity, then we'll probably have to start having some of those conversations. That's not the case as we sit here." |
Mar 6 2025 | Nimmo had an MRI on his injured right knee Tuesday which showed inflammation, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo's one and only Grapefruit League game came last Friday, and he had been slated to return to action earlier this week but wasn't quite ready. He said Thursday that he's waiting for "the last 10 percent" of the soreness in his knee to go away before he returns to the lineup, so it sounds like it's imminent. Nimmo is also coming back from a lingering plantar fasciitis issue in his left foot. While it hasn't been an ideal start to camp, the outfielder should be fine for Opening Day if he can avoid setbacks. |
Mar 3 2025 | Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday that Nimmo has been dealing with a sore right knee but is expected to be back in the Grapefruit League lineup Tuesday against the Cardinals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo made his spring debut last Friday but hadn't played since then. While Mendoza described Nimmo's knee issue as a "low level of concern," it's not ideal that the outfielder is working through another injury, after he got off to a delayed start to camp while recovering from plantar fasciitis in his left foot. |
Feb 28 2025 | Nimmo (foot) is starting in left field and batting cleanup in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo had a delayed start to camp after dealing with plantar fasciitis last season that lingered into January, but he'll make his first start of the spring Friday. The 31-year-old had a career-worst .726 OPS in 151 regular-season games while playing through the issue last year, with a .224 batting average being a significant drop from his .278 mark across the previous three campaigns. Nimmo is currently healthy, but he's at some risk for recurrence of the injury. |
Feb 26 2025 | Nimmo (foot) is expected to make his Grapefruit League debut soon, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo battled plantar fasciitis in his left foot for much of the 2024 season and into the offseason, as well. However, he said at the start of camp that his foot is feeling normal again, and making his first spring training appearance in early March is a typical schedule for him. There's a threat of Nimmo's foot problem flaring up again, but for now he's in a good spot with Opening Day a little more than a month away. |
Feb 14 2025 | Nimmo said Friday that his left foot started feeling normal again within the past month and he's running at 91 percent of his top speed, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo dealt with plantar fasciitis in his left foot for much of the 2024 season and revealed in January that it was still bothering him. However, his foot now feels back to normal following a variety of remedies, including physical therapy, shock therapy, strengthening and a PRP injection. He also found new cleats that he believes will help. There's certainly a risk that Nimmo's plantar fasciitis will crop up again, but for now he's in a good spot. He plans to play in spring games by early March, which is a normal schedule for him. |
Jan 25 2025 | Nimmo is still battling plantar fasciitis in his left foot but said Saturday that he plans on being ready for the start of the regular season, Bill Ladson of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo dealt with plantar fasciitis for most of the 2024 campaign, which may have played a factor in him finishing with a career-worst .726 OPS across 663 plate appearances. He's been able to resume jogging and hasn't stopped working in the batting cages, but progress in his foot has been slow over the offseason. The Mets plan on holding him out of the first several Grapefruit League games -- which isn't unusual for the 31-year-old outfielder -- but both he and the team are optimistic about his chances of being ready to go by Opening Day. |
Oct 14 2024 | Nimmo revealed Sunday that he's dealt with plantar fasciitis in his left foot since May and aggravated the injury recently in Game 3 of the NLDS, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo noted that the foot doesn't really bother him while hitting or throwing in the outfield, but running causes discomfort. "I think when I really need it, I'm probably not 100 percent, but I can get going pretty good," he said. "But it's uncomfortable." Nimmo plans to continue playing through the injury during the NLCS and the World Series, should the Mets advance. He's slashing .241/.353/.345 with one home run in eight contests this postseason. |
Sep 23 2024 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Phillies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo led off the sixth with a solo home run against Zack Wheeler to put the Mets up 2-1, which ended up being the final score of the game. The home run brought Nimmo up to 22 for the year and was his third long ball in five games. Nimmo has at least one hit in eight of his last nine games and has driven in 12 RBI over that span. His 87 RBI this season has easily surpassed his previous season best of 68, and he needs two homers over the next week to match his career-high of 24. |
Sep 19 2024 | Nimmo went 2-for-5 with a double, a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Phillies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo launched a two-run shot off Taijuan Walker in the bottom of the third and then came right back with an RBI double in the fourth to extend New York's lead to five runs. It marked the outfielder's sixth-consecutive game with at least one hit and he's now homered in three of his last six contests. Over that latter stretch he's batting .291 (7-for-24) with nine RBI and six runs scored. |
Sep 18 2024 | Nimmo went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 10-0 win over the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo scored the first run of the Mets' nine-run outburst in the fourth inning, and he added a homer to finish the rally. This was just his second homer over the last 25 games, though it was enough to get him to the milestone of a second consecutive 20-homer campaign. The outfielder has also topped 80 RBI for the first time (81) despite a .227/.337/.398 slash line that represents his lowest marks in each category since 2019. |
Sep 17 2024 | Nimmo is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Washington, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo posted a .544 OPS while starting the previous 13 games, and he'll receive a maintenance day Tuesday as lefty MacKenzie Gore takes the mound for the Nationals. Harrison Bader will start in center field and bat eighth. |
Sep 14 2024 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk in Friday's 11-3 victory over Philadelphia. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo broke the game open in the Mets' big fifth inning, launching a three-run shot off Aaron Nola to extend New York's lead to 6-0. The homer was Nimmo's first in nearly a month -- he'd gone 15-for-72 (.208) with a .543 OPS in his previous 20 contests. The 31-year-old outfielder is now slashing .226/.337/.396 through 603 plate appearances this year with 19 homers, a career-best 78 RBI, 79 runs scored and 13 steals. |
Sep 1 2024 | Nimmo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Nimmo will get the afternoon off while the White Sox send southpaw Garrett Crochet to the hill. Harrison Bader will fill in for Nimmo in center field. |
Aug 30 2024 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Diamondbacks. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The steal was his career-high 12th of the season but first since Aug. 2, snapping a 20-game drought on the basepaths. Nimmo is slashing just .226/.305/.381 on the month with two homers, two stolen bases, seven RBI and 10 runs in 22 contests. |
Aug 28 2024 | Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Diamondbacks. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo led the Mets with three hits Tuesday, though he only crossed the plate once and couldn't drive in any runs on a night when the Mets scored eight. It was Nimmo's first three-hit effort since the very beginning of the month, and he's gone without an RBI over his last five games. Nimmo has driven in a career-best 72 runs this year but his batting average is down significantly compared to the last few seasons. For the year, he's slashing .230/.341/.410 with 18 homers, 72 runs scored, 11 steals and a 68:133 BB:K in 542 plate appearances. |
Aug 23 2024 | Nimmo is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Padres. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Since the beginning of August, Nimmo has slashed .200/.284/.385 with eight runs scored, two home runs and eight RBI across 74 plate appearances. Jeff McNeil will start in left field and bat seventh against San Diego right-hander Joe Musgrove. |
Aug 20 2024 | Nimmo (shoulder) is batting third and playing left field Tuesday against the Orioles. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was removed from Sunday's game with right shoulder discomfort and was held out of the starting nine for Monday's series opener. However, he'll return to the lineup for Tuesday's game, patrolling left field. Nimmo has homered in two of his last three games, collecting four RBI and four runs scored during that stretch. |
Aug 19 2024 | The MRI on Nimmo's right shoulder came back clean Monday, and he's considered day-to-day, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was removed from Sunday's game with shoulder discomfort and Monday's MRI confirmed that he isn't dealing with anything severe. Nimmo is out of the lineup Monday -- giving way to Tyrone Taylor in left field -- and is day-to-day moving forward. |
Aug 18 2024 | Nimmo was removed from Sunday's game against the Marlins due to shoulder discomfort, David Lennon of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo had an eventful seventh inning, as he fouled a pitch off himself in the top of the frame and had a diving catch to finish the bottom of the inning. According to Tim Healey of Newsday, the outfielder is scheduled to undergo an MRI on the shoulder Monday. |
Aug 16 2024 | Nimmo went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and an additional run scored in Friday's 7-3 win against Miami. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After missing Thursday's game to due illness, the 31-year-old outfielder tattooed a 390-foot, three-run homer off reliever George Soriano for his first long ball of the second half. Perhaps this performance can spur on Nimmo, who entered this game with a .140 (12-for-86) batting average in 23 games since the All-Star break. Overall, the nine-year vet is now slashing .228/.343/.405 with 17 homers, 68 runs scored and 70 RBI across 508 plate appearances this season. |
Aug 15 2024 | Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Nimmo is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics due to a case of the stomach flu, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Mendoza noted that Nimmo was unable to get much sleep Wednesday night due to the ailment, so the Mets will hold him out of the lineup as they wrap up their series against Oakland with a day game. Jeff McNeil will pick up a start in the outfield in place of Nimmo, who has gone 3-for-32 with 11 strikeouts over his last nine starts to bring his batting average down to .226 for the season. |
Aug 8 2024 | Nimmo is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Colorado, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The left-handed-hitting Nimmo will get the series finale off as the Rockies send southpaw Austin Gomber to the bump. Tyrone Taylor will occupy left field for the Mets. |
Aug 2 2024 | Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 5-1 win over the Angels. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo broke out of a 4-for-49 slump over his last 13 games with a solid showing in Friday's win. It's the sixth time this season Nimmo gets at least three hits in a game. The 31-year-old has yet to be caught stealing this season as well, going a perfect 11-for-11 in steal attempts thus far. Nimmo is having another solid season hitting .237/.352/.416 with 16 homers, 65 RBI and 64 runs scored over 103 games. |
Jul 31 2024 | Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Nimmo is day-to-day after X-rays on his left foot came back negative following his removal from Wednesday's 8-3 loss to the Twins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was lifted from the game ahead of the seventh inning after fouling a ball off the foot in the bottom of the sixth, but he's expected to be fine. The Mets have a scheduled off day Thursday, giving Nimmo some extra rest before a weekend series against the Angels. |
Jul 25 2024 | Nimmo is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus Atlanta. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Southpaw Chris Sale will be on the hill for Atlanta, so Nimmo's night will begin on the bench. Jeff McNeil is getting the start in left field and Jose Iglesias will move up to the No. 2 slot in the Mets' batting order. |
Jul 22 2024 | Nimmo went 0-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He also struck out three times, continuing a trend that has seen Nimmo whiff at a 32.4 percent rate in July. Those contact issues have led to a .226/.324/.419 slash line on the month, but the veteran outfielder has bolstered his fantasy value by stealing four bags in 16 games to go along with three homers, six runs and 13 RBI. Nimmo's nine steals on the season have already tied his career high. |
Jul 12 2024 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in Thursday's win over the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 31-year-old broke open a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth inning, ripping a bases-loaded double to the wall in left-center field before coming home on a J.D. Martinez knock. Nimmo has a six-game hitting streak going, batting .360 (9-for-25) during that stretch with two doubles, three homers, five runs and 10 RBI, and his 62 RBI on the season leave him just seven away from establishing a new career high. |
Jul 10 2024 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-2 victory versus the Nationals on Wednesday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo got New York off to a strong start with a 440-foot solo blast in the first inning. It was his third straight game with a long ball and his fourth straight contest with at least one RBI. Nimmo logged career-best marks with 24 homers and 68 RBI last season, and he is on pace to surpass both totals in 2024 with 16 home runs and 59 runs batted in through 380 plate appearances. |
Jul 8 2024 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Monday's 8-2 loss to the Pirates. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The New York outfielder accounted for the only Mets runs of the game, hitting a 428-foot, two-run homer off Mitch Keller in the sixth inning. The nine-year veteran has tapped into his power recently, as he entered slugging .671 with 12 extra base hits -- six homers and doubles apiece -- in 90 plate appearances over his previous 20 games. After missing a game July 1 due to a forehead laceration, Nimmo has batted .320 (8-for-25) with three extra-base hits, five RBI and three runs scored in seven games this month. |
Jul 7 2024 | Nimmo went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Pirates. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The multi-hit performance was his third in his last six games, while Nimmo is 8-for-8 in stolen base attempts through 82 contests -- his career high is nine steals, set back in 2018. The 31-year-old has found his groove at the plate, and since the beginning of June he's slashing .312/.400/.560 through 125 plate appearances with six homers, four steals, 23 RBI and 26 runs. |

Jul 2 2024 | Nimmo (forehead) is absent from the starting lineup Tuesday against Washington. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo sustained a cut on his forehead Sunday night after falling in his hotel room. While he cleared concussion testing, he'll be held out of the lineup for a second straight night. Jeff McNeil will bat ninth and fill left field. Per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Nimmo will likely available off the bench Tuesday and expects to be back in the lineup Wednesday. |
Jul 1 2024 | Nimmo is absent from Monday's lineup against the Nationals due to a laceration on his forehead, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo suffered the cut when he slipped and fell in his hotel room Sunday night in Washington, D.C. He passed concussion tests and is expected to be fine, but the injury will cost him a start. It's not clear whether Nimmo might be available off the bench Monday. |
Jun 30 2024 | Nimmo went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs Sunday against the Astros. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo continues to swing a hot bat, collecting three more hits including a game-tying homer in the seventh. Following a 10-game hit streak, Nimmo's bat had cooled a bit with just one hit in his 10 previous at-bats, though he did reach base four additional times via walks. Nimmo carries a solid .247/.367/.815 slash line on the season with 13 dingers, 50 RBI, 53 runs and five steals. However, over his last 14 games Nimmo is slashing .382/.477/.782 with six homers, 18 RBI and 20 runs scored. |

Jun 23 2024 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Cubs. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo has hit safely in nine straight games, going 16-for-37 (.432) in that span. He's turned up the power recently as well, slugging a homer in four of his last six contests to put him at 11 long balls on the year. The outfielder has added a .244/.358/.430 slash line with 43 RBI, 46 runs scored and five stolen bases across 72 games. |
Jun 21 2024 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and three runs scored in Friday's 11-1 win over the Cubs. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was active early, walking and scoring a run in the first inning and hitting a two-run home run in the second. He then singled and scored again in the fourth frame. Since moving to second in the lineup June 13, Nimmo has five multi-hit games, three home runs, 10 RBI and 12 runs scored. On the season, he is now slashing .244/.359/.424 with 10 homers, 42 RBI and 45 runs scored through 309 plate appearances. |
Jun 19 2024 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's win over the Rangers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran outfielder took Michael Lorenzen deep in the sixth inning, helping the Mets roar back from an early 6-2 deficit. Nimmo has gone yard in back-to-back games, and he's slashing .328/.381/.517 over 14 contests in June as he climbs out of an early-season hole. Despite the surge, his .766 OPS so far in 2024 would be Nimmo's lowest mark since his 32-game big-league debut in 2016. |
Jun 17 2024 | Nimmo went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored in Monday's win over the Rangers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo knocked RBI singles in the second and fifth innings but most of his damage came in the fourth inning when he ripped a two-run homer. It was his second straight three-hit game and fourth consecutive appearance with multiple hits. That hot streak has bumped Nimmo's OPS from .708 to .756. He has eight home runs and 39 RBI through 67 games this season. |
Jun 12 2024 | Nimmo is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo has struck out eight times across his last 14 plate appearances, and he might have had a tough time bouncing back Wednesday against a left-handed starting pitcher (Braxton Garrett), so he'll be given the day off to regroup. Tyrone Taylor will replace Nimmo in left field and will bat sixth. |
Jun 5 2024 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Hitting third against rookie lefty DJ Herz, Nimmo reached base three times in a game for the first time since May 5. The on-base machine is batting just .222 on the season, but he sports a .350 OBP thanks to a 13.4 percent walk rate, his highest mark since 2021. Nimmo's added seven homers, five steals, 31 runs and 31 RBI in 58 games to his ledger. |
May 29 2024 | Nimmo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Dodgers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Southpaw James Paxton is on the hill for the Dodgers, so the left-handed-hitting Nimmo will open Wednesday's game on the bench. Tyrone Taylor will patrol left field while Nimmo rests. |
May 19 2024 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored during Sunday's 7-3 win over the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After going 0-for-12 during the Mets' series against Philadelphia, Nimmo has started the Marlins series 2-for-8 (.250) with a double, a two-run home run and five total runs scored. Nimmo's homer Sunday came off Anthony Bender in the ninth inning and marked the outfielder's seventh of the season. In 193 plate appearances, Nimmo owns a .777 OPS. |
May 18 2024 | Nimmo (illness) is starting in left field and batting third Saturday against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: A stomach bug has kept Nimmo from starting the Mets' last two games, but the issue seems to have subsided prior to Saturday's contest. The 31-year-old outfielder has been in a bit of a slump at the plate lately, logging just one hit -- a two-run homer -- in 14 at-bats across his last five games. |
May 17 2024 | Nimmo (illness) remains out of the lineup for Friday's contest in Miami. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was a late scratch from Thursday's lineup due to a stomach bug and he's evidently still not feeling well enough to play. With Nimmo resting, the Mets will go with Tyrone Taylor in left field and in the leadoff spot. |
May 16 2024 | Nimmo was scratched from the Mets' lineup prior to Thursday's game against the Phillies due to a stomach illness, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo wasn't feeling well heading into Thursday's contest, so the Mets will give him the day off to recover. In the meantime, DJ Stewart will take Nimmo's place in left field and bat fifth, moving Tyrone Taylor into the leadoff spot. |
May 13 2024 | Nimmo (intercostal) will start in left field and bat leadoff in Monday's game versus the Phillies, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo didn't start Sunday's 4-3 win over Atlanta due to right intercostal irritation, but he entered the contest off the bench and eventually clubbed a walk-off, two-run home run in his lone plate appearance. Four of Nimmo's six home runs this season have come over his last 12 games. |
May 12 2024 | Nimmo (ribs) did not start Sunday night's game against Atlanta, but entered the game late and subsequently hit a walk-off homer in his only at-bat. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: During the broadcast, Nimmo was interviewed by the Sunday night ESPN crew and said that he expects to return Monday against the Phillies. To reinforce that point, Nimmo had two catches in left field in the eighth inning before his homer in the ninth. Unless he aggravated his injury in the process, Nimmo should be good to go for the upcoming week. |
May 11 2024 | Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Saturday that he's "not too concerned" about Nimmo's (intercostal) injury, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo tweaked his right intercostal on a checked swing Saturday against Atlanta and eventually exited the game. However, Mendoza said of the injury that "I think we caught it early," and as of no there are no plans to send him for an MRI. Nimmo will be reevaluated Sunday but is considered day-to-day for the time being. |
May 8 2024 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Cardinals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo got the Mets going with a three-run blast off Miles Mikolas in the fifth to knot the game up at 3-3. He's now homered in back-to-back games and has at least a hit in six straight with seven RBI over that span. For the year, the 31-year-old is hitting .229/.377/.412 with five homers, 25 RBI, 20 runs and a 25:32 BB:K in 162 plate appearances. |
May 6 2024 | Nimmo went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored Monday in a 4-3 win against St. Louis. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With the score tied 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Nimmo swatted a 415-foot solo shot to right field that provided the winning margin for New York. The veteran outfielder extended his hitting streak to five games, and four of his seven hits over that span have gone for extra bases. Nimmo has lifted his season average to .228 with the hot stretch following a cold start to the campaign. |
May 3 2024 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and two RBI in Thursday's extra-innings win over the Cubs. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 31-year-old is coming to life from the leadoff spot, reaching base multiple times in five of his last seven starts and batting .286 (8-for-28) over that stretch with a .394 OBP. Nimmo's .216/.365/.360 slash line on the season remains disappointing for fantasy purposes, but he's chipped in three homers, two steals, 15 runs and 20 RBI in 30 contests. |
May 1 2024 | Nimmo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, manager Carlos Mendoza said pregame that Nimmo is getting a routine day off after having started in all but one of the Mets' first 29 games of the season. Tyrone Taylor will replace Nimmo in left field and atop the batting order. |
Apr 29 2024 | Nimmo went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during Monday's 3-1 loss to the Cubs. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo's first-inning homer was the lone run scored by the Mets on Monday, as the team was held to four hits in total. The long ball came off Jameson Taillon and was Nimmo's first since Apr. 8. During his last 10 games, Nimmo is batting .182 with eight runs scored. |
Apr 15 2024 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in Sunday's win over the Royals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 31-year-old outfielder shone once again as the Mets' leadoff hitter, capping his day with a bases-loaded walk that brought home the winning run in the eighth inning. Nimmo has reached base safely in all 11 games he's played so far in April, slashing .286/.455/.548 with seven runs, 12 RBI, and six of his 12 hits (three doubles, a triple and two homers) going for extra bases. |
Apr 11 2024 | Nimmo went 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 16-4 victory over Atlanta. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo extended New York's lead to 2-0 in the second inning with an RBI double before driving in another run with a triple in the eighth. Nimmo's went 7-for-14 with four extra-base hits in three games against Atlanta after starting the season in a 3-for-29 slump. The 31-year-old outfielder figures to serve as the Mets' regular leadoff batter after slashing .274/.363/.466 with a career-high 24 homers, 68 RBI and 89 runs scored last season. |
Apr 9 2024 | Nimmo went 4-for-4 with a three-run home run, a solo home run and an additional run batted in Monday against Atlanta. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo entered Monday's contest 3-for-29 (.103) on the season but broke out of the cold snap and reached safely in all five plate appearances. He finally got on the board in the home run column, mashing homers off Charlie Morton and A.J. Minter en route to a five-RBI day and the sixth multi-HR game of his career. |
Apr 6 2024 | Nimmo (hamstring) is starting as the Mets' designated hitter Saturday versus Cincinnati. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Minor hamstring tightness prevented Nimmo from playing Friday, but the issue appears to have subsided ahead of Saturday's contest. The 31-year-old outfielder has gone just 1-for-21 through six games to begin the year, though he has still managed to draw six walks. |
Apr 5 2024 | Nimmo is sitting out Friday's game in Cincinnati because of some minor hamstring tightness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Nimmo's hamstring "checked out pretty good" pregame and the team doesn't believe it to be a serious issue. It was bad enough for him to be held out Friday, however, and given how hamstring problems can sometimes linger, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Nimmo sit out additional games. He's also just 1-for-21 to start the season, so a little reset might not be the worst thing. Tyrone Taylor is in left field Friday. |
Apr 4 2024 | Nimmo went 0-for-5 with five walks and a stolen base in Thursday's doubleheader split with the Tigers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo didn't get a hit in either contest, but he did his job as New York's leadoff man by drawing five free passes. Given that he's gone just 1-for-21 to start the campaign, it was a positive development for Nimmo's fantasy managers to see him spend some time on the basepaths, though outside of his theft he didn't do anything to provide fantasy value in leagues that don't use OBP as a category. Odds are that Nimmo's bat will eventually come around, as he hasn't batted lower than .274 in a season since 2019. |
Mar 9 2024 | Nimmo could be moved down in the Mets' batting order this season, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: President of baseball operations David Stearns and manager Carlos Mendoza discussed the possibility with Nimmo early in the offseason and co-hitting coaches Jeremy Barnes and Eric Chavez have continued the dialogue in spring training. Nimmo's on-base skills make him a natural fit as a leadoff hitter, but he also showed last season with a career-high 24 home runs that he could have potential as a middle-of-the-order presence. Healey mentions Francisco Lindor, Starling Marte and Jeff McNeil as options to move up to the top of the batting order if Nimmo slides down. |
Feb 19 2024 | Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday that Nimmo will move to left field this season while Harrison Bader takes over in center field, Pat Ragazzo of SI.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: That's been the assumption, but this is the first time Mendoza has officially addressed it. It makes for a strong defensive outfield for the Mets, giving them three outfielders with extensive center field experience between Nimmo, Bader and Starling Marte. Of course, given Bader's health history, there's a good chance Nimmo will still wind up spending a good amount of time in center. |
Feb 12 2024 | Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns implied Monday that Nimmo (shoulder) is fully healthy ahead of spring training, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Stearns noted that lefty David Peterson (hip), infielder Ronny Mauricio (knee) and right-hander Kyle Crick (calf) are the only players who will be held out of drills to begin camp, which suggests that Nimmo has a clean bill of health after finishing the 2023 season on the injured list with a sprained right shoulder. Nimmo is projected to return to his familiar role as the Mets' everyday leadoff man in 2024 after he slashed .274/.363/.466 with a career-high 24 home runs in 152 games a season ago. |
Sep 30 2023 | Nimmo landed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a sprained right shoulder. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo has dealt with more than his fair share of injury problems in the past, so it's discouraging to see him end the year injured after a pair of seasons in which he crossed the 150-game threshold for the first time. This particular injury may not be too worrisome, however, as source reports that Nimmo avoided structural damage. If the Mets had postseason baseball to look forward to, he would address the problem with an injection, but their 72-86 record means he'll instead hit the couch a few days early and let the problem heal with rest. Michael Perez was recalled to take his place on the roster. |
Sep 28 2023 | Nimmo has an AC joint injury in his right shoulder and will undergo an MRI on Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was held out of the lineup Sunday with an undisclosed injury, so this may be a related issue. The seriousness of the injury is not yet known, but given that the Mets have little to play for across the final weekend of the regular season, it's unlikely that Nimmo will return to the lineup. |
Sep 26 2023 | Nimmo (undisclosed) is back in the lineup Tuesday against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo will start in center field and bat leadoff versus the Marlins and left-hander Braxton Garrett after sitting out Sunday's series finale at Philadelphia due to general soreness. Nimmo, 30, boasts a .333/.394/.633 slash line in 99 plate appearances since the beginning of September. |
Sep 24 2023 | Nimmo is dealing with an unspecified injury and is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Philadelphia, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The center fielder apparently suffered the injury Saturday on a slide into home plate, and manager Buck Showalter indicated Nimmo would have been replaced by a pinch runner had he reached during his ninth-inning plate appearance. It doesn't appear to be a serious issue, and Nimmo will have the Mets' scheduled day off Monday to rest before Tuesday's series opener versus the Marlins. |
Sep 20 2023 | Nimmo went 3-for-4 with a double, a solo home run, two additional runs and a walk against Miami in an 8-3 win Wednesday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo has been scorching in September, batting .346 through 18 contests. He's gone deep five times during the month so far, though he hadn't homered in his previous 10 games before Wednesday. Nimmo has already established a career high with 24 homers on the campaign, and he needs one more RBI to tie the career-best mark of 64 he recorded last season. |
Sep 13 2023 | Nimmo went 3-for-4 with a walk, two doubles, a triple and two runs scored in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Diamondbacks. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Mets' leadoff hitter had no trouble getting himself into scoring position as he continued a tear that has seen him slash .333/.390/.741 over his last 13 games with 11 total extra-base hits (five doubles, a triple and five homers). Nimmo's 23 long balls on the year are a career high, and his .819 OPS has him on track to post a mark in the .800s for the fourth straight season. |
Sep 2 2023 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 2-1 win over the Mariners. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He took Logan Gilbert deep in the sixth inning to get the Mets on the board. Nimmo has reached 20 homers for the first time in his career, and while his 55 RBI and 73 runs are steps back from 2022, that's more a reflection of the offense behind him than his performance as the team's leadoff hitter. Since the beginning of August, the 30-year-old is slashing .278/.364/.474 with five homers, eight RBI and 12 runs in 27 contests. |
Aug 29 2023 | Nimmo went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Monday's 4-3 loss against Texas. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo had been mired in an 0-for-20 slump prior to Monday's contest. He opened the scoring with a two-run blast off of Jon Gray in the third inning, his career-best 19th homer of the year and his fourth in his last 14 games. The 30-year-old Nimmo is now slashing .259/.356/.435 with 72 runs scored and 53 RBI across 563 plate appearances on the campaign. |
Aug 29 2023 | Nimmo went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Monday's 4-3 loss against Texas. |
Aug 18 2023 | Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Friday's win against St. Louis. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo got things started with a leadoff homer in the first inning. It was his 18th home run of the season, setting a new career high. He's collected multiple hits in six of his last seven games, raising his season slash line to .269/.366/.452 with 68 runs scored and 42 extra-base hits through 117 contests. |
Aug 14 2023 | Nimmo went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and an additional run scored in Monday's 7-2 win over the Pirates. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo capped the scoring in the sixth inning with a solo home run off Osvaldo Bido, his 16th of the year and first since July 21. The 30-year-old Nimmo has now hit safely in six straight games, including three consecutive multi-hit efforts, going 9-for-23 (.391) in that span. His slash line is up to .261/.358/.434 with 65 runs scored, 48 RBI and three steals across 506 plate appearances on the campaign. |
Aug 12 2023 | Nimmo has been playing through a quadricep injury since the beginning of August and will only play in Game 2 on Saturday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo's injury caused him to miss two games at the beginning of August, and the Mets have allowed him to play through it since then. Manager Buck Showalter said he wasn't comfortable starting Nimmo in both games of Saturday's doubleheader against Atlanta because of the injury, so Nimmo will wait until the nightcap to get on the field. While playing through his injury, Nimmo is slashing .227/.346/.273 through 26 plate appearances. |
Aug 6 2023 | Nimmo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 30-year-old started the past two contests after sitting out three games with quadriceps tightness, and it appears he'll get a maintenance day for the series finale in Baltimore. Rafael Ortega will receive another start in center field in Nimmo's place. |
Aug 4 2023 | Nimmo (quad) is starting in center field and batting in the leadoff spot Friday against Baltimore. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Quad tightness has kept Nimmo out of the lineup for each of New York's last three games, but the issue seems to have subsided ahead of Friday's series opener. The 30-year-old outfielder is slashing just .193/.277/.368 over 65 plate appearances since the All-Star break. |
Aug 3 2023 | Nimmo (quad) is out of the lineup again Thursday against the Royals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's the third straight absence for Nimmo, who is working through some minor quad tightness. He assured reporters Wednesday that it's nothing serious. Rafael Ortega will get start in center field and bat ninth for the Mets on Thursday afternoon in Kansas City. |
Aug 2 2023 | Nimmo (quad) remains out of the lineup Wednesday at Kansas City, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was scratched from the lineup Tuesday due to quad tightness and will take another day off for rest and treatment, but it's not believed to be anything overly serious. He could return to action for the Mets in Thursday afternoon's series finale versus the Royals. |
Aug 1 2023 | Nimmo was scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to quad tightness, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo's quad started tightening up during batting practice before Tuesday's game against Kansas City and ended up being enough to keep him out of the lineup for the first time since June 4. No details have been provided regarding the severity of Nimmo's injury, but he should be considered day-to-day for now. |
Jul 2 2023 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Giants. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 30-year-old outfielder socked one of three solo shots in the third inning off Anthony DeSclafani on a day in which the Mets managed only four hits in total. Nimmo's been swinging a hot bat as the All-Star break approaches, and over his last 10 games he's batting .308 (12-for-39) with five of his 12 homers on the season. |
Jun 30 2023 | Nimmo went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks Thursday in a loss to the Brewers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Brett Baty launched a solo shot in the third inning for New York's first run, and Nimmo immediately followed with a long ball of his own. The homer was the veteran outfielder's third in his past three games and his seventh over his past 19 contests after he went deep just four times across his initial 60 games of the campaign. Nimmo is up to 11 long balls on the season, putting him on pace to surpass his career-high mark of 17 set in 2018. |
Jun 27 2023 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three total RBI in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Brewers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 30-year-old clubbed a pair of long balls off Julio Teheran for his first multi-homer effort of the campaign, and it's also just the third time this year he's driven in more than two runs in a game. Nimmo is hitting .253 with six home runs and 17 RBI through 22 games in June, but he's also struck out at a 31 percent clip. Overall in 2023 he has a .282/.371/.449 slash line with 26 extra-base hits, 38 RBI and three stolen bases in 349 plate appearances. |
Jun 24 2023 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Phillies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: His third-inning shot off former teammate Taijuan Walker accounted for the Mets' only offense on the night, but it didn't make up for Nimmo's first-inning error that led to the Phillies' first two runs. The veteran outfielder has eight homers on the year, but four of them have come in the last 13 games -- a stretch in which he's slashing .250/.361/.519 with seven runs and 12 RBI. |
Jun 13 2023 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a homer and two runs scored in Tuesday's 7-6 loss against the Yankees. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo got the Mets on the board with a solo home run off Luis Severino to lead off the bottom of the first, tying the game 1-1. The 30-year-old Nimmo is now 6-for-20 (.300) with a pair of home runs in his last five games following a 3-for-23 (.130) stretch over his previous six contests. Overall, Nimmo's slashing .286/.378/.429 with six homers, 38 runs scored and 27 RBI through 295 plate appearances this season. |
Jun 9 2023 | Nimmo went 1-for-5 with a grand slam, an additional run and a walk in Thursday's extra-inning loss to Atlanta. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo gave the Mets their first lead with a grand slam off Spencer Strider in the second inning, but Atlanta eventually prevailed in a 13-10 slugfest. The grand slam was the first of Nimmo's career and his fifth long ball this season. The outfielder isn't known for his power and has never hit more than 17 homers in a campaign, though he ranks in the 86th percentile among big-league hitters in average exit velocity this season. |

May 24 2023 | Nimmo went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Mets only mustered up six hits for the evening and Nimmo accounted for half of them. He's hit safely now in five straight games and has six multi-hit games this month but has just six extra-base hits to show for it. For the year, he's slashing .301/.381/.430 with four homers, 19 RBI, 27 runs and a 22:40 BB:K over 216 plate appearances as the Mets' main leadoff man. |
May 22 2023 | Nimmo went 2-for-9 with a solo home run across both games of Sunday's doubleheader sweep of the Guardians. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He had one hit in each contest, taking Eli Morgan deep in the seventh inning of the matinee to give the Mets a crucial run in an eventual 5-4 win. Nimmo has hit safely in 10 of the last 12 games but has only two extra-base knocks among 14 hits over that stretch, giving him a .291/.374/.418 slash line on the season with four homers, three steals, 19 RBI and 26 runs in 47 games. |

He's now slashing .311/.406/.452 with 12 extra-base hits, 15 RBI, 21 runs and a 19:29 BB:K over 161 plate appearances. |

It was his third home run of the season and he's up to 12 extra-base knocks after the strong performance. After a slow start, Nimmo has gone 31-for-87 (.356) over the last 21 games, raising his season OPS to .875. |
Apr 5 2023 | Nimmo went 3-for-4 in Tuesday's loss to the Brewers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: All three hits were singles, and the rest of the Mets' lineup managed only five other knocks in a 9-0 loss. Nimmo is doing his job at the top of the order, going 5-for-16 (.313) through six games with a 6:1 BB:K, but the early-season struggles of the hitters behind him have led to the 30-year-old crossing the plate only once so far. Expect that to change, and quickly, given that he scored a career-high 102 runs in 2022. |
Apr 2 2023 | Nimmo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo will get Sunday off with southpaw Trevor Rogers on the mound for the Marlins. |
Mar 31 2023 | Nimmo went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run scored and three RBI in an Opening Day win over the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: His third-inning sacrifice fly got the Mets on the board, and Nimmo then played hero in the seventh with a two-run double that broke open a 3-3 tie and put New York in the lead for good. The veteran outfielder has posted an OBP over .400 in three of the last five seasons and set career highs in 2022 with 30 doubles, 64 RBI and 102 runs, but it's his ability to stay healthy that will go the longest way toward determining whether he's able to build on last year's strong campaign. |

The outfielder jammed both while trying to break up a double play Friday in a Grapefruit League game, but imaging revealed no structural damage. |

The bad news is that the outfielder has been diagnosed with the sprain, and will need to be evaluated on a week-to-week basis. The injury occurred when he jammed his knee/ankle into second base Friday while trying to break up a double play. Nimmo's status for Opening Day is very much in doubt, and this will be a situation that has to be monitored over the coming weeks. |
Mar 17 2023 | Nimmo left Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins with right ankle soreness and will be undergo imagine on Saturday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It looked like Nimmo had jammed his knee while sliding into second base, but the club is saying instead it's his ankle that caused his early exit. The Mets have dealt with significant injuries over the past few weeks, and the loss of Nimmo would be a massive one for both fantasy managers and New York for the coming season. There should be some clarity on the injury before the end of the weekend. |

New York rewarded him with an eight-year, $162 million contract in December, and he's locked in as the club's center fielder for the foreseeable future. |
Mar 10 2023 | Nimmo will make his Grapefruit League debut Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo hasn't appeared in a spring game yet, but the outfielder isn't missing time for injury, but instead it's an effort to build up energy and durability after a career-high 673 plate appearances. The outfielder signed an eight-year, $162 million extension in the offseason, and he'll hit at or near the top of the lineup for the Mets in 2023. |
Mar 8 2023 | Nimmo is likely to make his Grapefruit League debut this weekend, Pat Ragazzo of SI.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo hasn't appeared in a game yet this spring, but he's simply building up energy and durability for the regular season after logging a huge number of plate appearances in 2022. Nimmo returned to New York on an eight-year, $162 million contract over the winter and figures to slot back in at the top of the order -- a role that led to a career-high 102 runs in 2022 -- thanks to his .385 career OBP. |
Dec 8 2022 | Nimmo signed an eight-year, $162 million contract with the Mets on Thursday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Mets selected Nimmo 13th overall in the 2011 MLB Draft, and he's been with the team since. Barring a trade, this deal makes it extremely likely that he'll play his entire career with the club. Nimmo has compiled a 134 wRC+ and .362 wOBA across seven big-league seasons, which highlight his carrying skills of getting on base and making consistent contact. He's also a strong defensive center fielder and will be locked into the lineup at that position in 2023. |
Oct 5 2022 | Nimmo isn't starting Wednesday against Washington. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo has been on a tear at the plate recently, hitting .500 with two home runs, two doubles, six RBI, three runs, a walk and three strikeouts over the last five games. However, he'll get a breather while Terrance Gore starts in center field and bats ninth during Wednesday's regular-season finale. |

Nimmo has four multi-hit performances in his last seven starts, batting .393 (11-for-28) over that stretch with two steals, five RBI and nine runs scored, and he's now three runs shy of reaching 100 in a season for the first time in his career. |

Jun 1 2022 | Nimmo went 0-for-5 in Wednesday's 5-0 win over the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo missed four games with a right wrist sprain, and he wasn't able to get on base in his return to the lineup. He'll head into Wednesday's series finale with an eight-game hitting streak, and he's gotten on base in all but one of his last 27 games. Over that timeframe, Nimmo is slashing an impressive .292/.379/.406. |

The 29-year-old outfielder has a .432 OBP through nine games this season and has scored seven runs, and his .323 batting average and .613 SLG aren't bad either. The 29-year-old was effective in 2021 with a .292/.401/.437 slash line, but he was limited to 92 games as injuries continued to limit his availability. |
Apr 7 2022 | Nimmo (neck) is out of the lineup for Thursday's season opener in Washington, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo seemingly demonstrated enough progress during an extended workout Wednesday to avoid going on the 10-day injured list to begin the season, but he'll need at least one more day to recover from a stiff neck. The Mets will keep Starling Marte in right field for Thursday's game and instead shift Mark Canha over from left to cover Nimmo's usual spot in center. |
Apr 6 2022 | Nimmo (neck) took batting practice and shagged fly balls Wednesday, noting after the workout that he's "a lot more optimistic" about his chances of being available for Thursday's Opening Day game against the Nationals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo admitted he still wasn't sure whether he'll be part of the Opening Day lineup, but his positive workout one day after receiving a cortisone injection to ease the stiffness in his neck suggests that he's at least likely to avoid a stint on the injured list to begin the season. With rain in the forecast for Washington, D.C. ahead of Thursday's 4:05 p.m. ET first pitch, Nimmo could be hoping for a postponement to give him an extra day to heal up before the Mets play their first game. |
Apr 5 2022 | Nimmo received a cortisone-type injection in his neck Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The injection was administered in hopes that Nimmo could play as soon as possible, but he's not guaranteed to be ready for Opening Day. Mark Canha and Starling Marte both have experience playing center field, so the Mets should have no issue filling Nimmo's spot if he's forced to miss time. Dominic Smith would likely start in left field if that happens, though that job could also go to J.D. Davis on Opening Day against lefty Patrick Corbin if the Mets are comfortable using Davis in the outfield, something which didn't happen last season. |
Apr 4 2022 | Mets manager Buck Showalter said Monday that Nimmo won't play in either of the team's final two Grapefruit League games due to a stiff neck, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Mets are hopeful that by holding Nimmo out of the lineup for the next two days, he'll show enough improvement to be ready to make the start in center field in Thursday's season opener in Washington. If Nimmo remains out for Opening Day, a spot in the outfield could open up for Dominic Smith, as Mark Canha would likely shift over from his normal spot in left to cover center field for Nimmo in that scenario. |
Mar 29 2022 | Nimmo (thumb) will start in center field and bat leadoff in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo's sore thumb proved to be only a minor concern, as he missed just two days as a result of the injury. Though he's getting the nod in center field Tuesday, he could see most of his action at one of the two corner-outfield spots in 2022 after the Mets picked up Starling Marte in free agency this offseason. |
Mar 27 2022 | Nimmo is out of the lineup Sunday due to thumb soreness, but he will return to the lineup Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo has already gotten plenty of playing time this spring, logging 14 plate appearances across four games. Assuming he is able to return to the lineup Tuesday as expected, the issue should not affect his Opening Day status. |
Sep 25 2021 | Nimmo went 3-for-4 in Saturday's 2-1 loss to Milwaukee. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The outfielder accounted for half of the Mets' hits in the contest. The 28-year-old has posted a .305 batting average this year across 84 games while adding six home runs, 24 RBI, 47 runs scored and five stolen bases. |
Sep 19 2021 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a triple and an additional run scored in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Phillies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo tripled off Aaron Nola in the sixth inning, scoring the only run against the starter. In addition, he slammed a solo home run in the eighth inning off Hector Neris. It was his first extra-base hit in 13 games since Aug. 21. The 28-year-old is slashing .303/.418/.431 with six long balls, 24 RBI, 45 runs and five steals in 329 plate appearances this season. |

The 28-year-old was 6-for-13 with two walks, an RBI, four runs and a stolen base in his previous four games before going down with the injury. |
Sep 15 2021 | Nimmo (hamstring) could be reinstated from the 10-day injured list for the team's weekend series against the Phillies, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo participated in live batting practice ahead of Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, and manager Luis Rojas was pleased with the outfielder's performance. While Rojas didn't indicate whether the 28-year-old will be available for Friday's series opener, his return is imminent following a quick recovery process. |
Sep 14 2021 | Nimmo (hamstring) will hit on the field Wednesday, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo's hitting session will be the final step in his recovery process, and he hopes to rejoin the Mets for Friday's series opener against the Phillies, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. The 28-year-old has made a speedy recovery since he landed on the 10-day IL on Sept. 4 and has participated in running, hitting and throwing drills across the last few days. |
Sep 8 2021 | Nimmo (hamstring) said Wednesday that he's ahead of schedule in his recovery, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was placed on the 10-day IL with a right hamstring strain Saturday, and he's already resumed jogging. The outfielder didn't say whether he expects to return after spending 10 days on the shelf, but he's trending toward a relatively brief absence. |
Sep 4 2021 | Nimmo was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo exited the first game of the day with what was originally called right hamstring tightness. The diagnosis has since been updated to a strain, an injury serious enough to sideline him for at least 10 days. Whether or not he'll miss more than 10 days remains to be seen. Travis Blankenhorn was called up to take his place on the roster. |
Aug 29 2021 | Nimmo went 0-for-1 with two walks, two hit-by-pitches and a stolen base in Sunday's 9-4 win over Washington. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: That's getting on base four times the hard way, as both Washington starter Erick Fedde and reliever Sam Clay plunked Nimmo in the contest. The outfielder added his fourth stolen base of the year, but he wasn't able to score a run for all his trouble. He's slashing .287/.411/.393 with four home runs, 20 RBI, 37 runs scored and 14 doubles through 300 plate appearances. |
Aug 26 2021 | Nimmo went 3-for-5 in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Giants. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo racked up a trio of singles atop the New York lineup and is now hitting a blistering .412 (14-34) over his last eight contests, producing multi-hit efforts in half of them. For the season, the 28-year-old is slashing .294/.413/.403 with four homers and 20 RBI in 297 plate appearances. |
Aug 22 2021 | Nimmo went 2-for-3 with two runs and two walks in a 7-2 triumph against the Dodgers on Sunday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo walked and scored in the first inning, walked again in the second, singled in the fifth and singled and scored in the ninth to reach base four times for the first time since July 18. The productive outing extended the outfielder's hitting streak to a modest five games, a stretch that's seen Nimmo go 9-for-22 and bump his average from .275 to .288. |
Aug 21 2021 | Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and a stolen base in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Dodgers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The outfielder was responsible for the Mets' first run, knocking a solo shot off Dodgers ace Max Scherzer in the fifth inning. Nimmo hasn't provided much in the way of counting stats this year with four homers, 20 RBI, 35 runs scored and two stolen bases. He's added 14 doubles and a .283/.401/.399 slash line across 268 plate appearances. He has a meager two long balls, five RBI and nine runs scored through 20 games in August. |
Aug 12 2021 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run during Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Nationals. He then went 0-for-4 in Game 2. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo's three-run shot during the second inning proved to be the difference as the Mets beat the Nationals 4-1 in the first game of the day. It was the 28-year-old's first home run and only his second RBI since he last went deep July 17, which was a span of 21 games. He has a .286/.411/.405 slash line with three long balls, 13 doubles, 18 RBI, 30 runs and two stolen bases in 55 games this season. |
Aug 5 2021 | Nimmo is not starting Thursday's game against the Marlins, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old gets the afternoon off before the Mets head to Philadelphia for a three-game set. Nimmo has cooled off a bit since his post-injury surge, hitting .233 with six walks and just one extra-base hit in his last 10 games. Albert Almora is starting in center field and batting eighth Thursday. |
Aug 3 2021 | Nimmo (hamstring) is leading off and playing center field Tuesday against the Marlins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was set to return to the lineup Monday but was later scratched because of the hamstring issue that has been bothering him since Friday. He appears to feel at least slightly better, as he's back in the starting nine Tuesday. |
Aug 2 2021 | Nimmo (hamstring) was scratched from Monday's starting lineup against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was initially listed in the starting nine for Monday's series opener, but the team has since announced a lineup change. The outfielder has been dealing with a sore hamstring over the last few days, so it would appear he's not yet at full strength. Kevin Pillar draws another start in center field as a result. |
Aug 1 2021 | Nimmo (hamstring) said he thinks he'll be available off the bench for Sunday's game against the Reds before returning to the lineup for Monday's series opener in Miami, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo's sore left hamstring will keep him out of the starting nine for the second straight game, but he was apparently satisfied with how he felt after testing out the injury early Sunday. Kevin Pillar will fill in for Nimmo in center field Sunday, but the latter could be ready to go for the Mets' upcoming four-game series in Miami. |
Jul 31 2021 | Nimmo (hamstring) is not starting Saturday's game against the Reds, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The center fielder exited Friday's contest after feeling a pinch in his hamstring. It's unclear whether Nimmo, who has hit .282 and drawn 20 walks since returning from a shoulder injury July 3, will be available off the bench Saturday. |
Jul 30 2021 | Manager Luis Rojas said Nimmo felt a "pinch" in his hamstring in the ninth inning of Friday's loss to the Reds, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo went 1-for-3 with a run, a walk and two strikeouts Friday, but he sustained his injury while making a diving catch in the ninth inning. He was able to remain the game and is considered day-to-day since Rojas described the injury as "something really, really small." |
Jul 26 2021 | Nimmo isn't starting the first game of Monday's doubleheader against Atlanta. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo currently carries a four-game hitting streak, and he's gone 5-for-14 with a double, three runs, an RBI, three walks and four strikeouts during that time. Kevin Pillar will start in center field and bat sixth. |
Jul 17 2021 | Nimmo went 1-for-2 with a solo homer and three walks Saturday against the Pirates. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo got a hold of a Clay Holmes offering in the top of the ninth to give the Mets a 7-5 lead. It was the second homer of the year for Nimmo, who added a trio of walks to up his on-base percentage to .423. A career .258 hitter entering the season, Nimmo is hitting .312 over 131 plate appearances on the year. |
Jul 9 2021 | Nimmo (shoulder) went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 13-4 win over Pittsburgh. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was set to rest Thursday, but rain postponed the contest. He was good to go Friday, and he was able to make a solid impact from the leadoff spot. The outfielder is 5-for-12 with three doubles in his last four games. He's slashing .337/.430/.457 with one home run, 13 RBI, 14 runs scored, two stolen bases and eight doubles through 108 plate appearances overall. |
Jul 8 2021 | Nimmo is out of Thursday's lineup against the Pirates due to left shoulder soreness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo suffered the injury on a diving catch during Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader, resulting in him sitting out the nightcap. It's not believed to be a serious injury, and the 28-year-old is expected to be available off the bench Thursday. |
Jul 7 2021 | Nimmo is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Brewers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo hit leadoff in the matinee and went 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two strikeouts, and he'll take a seat for the nightcap with lefty Brett Anderson starting for Milwaukee. Kevin Pillar will patrol center field in his place. |
Jul 6 2021 | Nimmo isn't starting Tuesday against the Brewers, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was reinstated from the 10-day IL on Friday, and he was in the lineup for each of the last four games. |
Jul 3 2021 | Nimmo (finger) went 3-for-6 with a pair of runs scored Saturday against the Yankees. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Back from his two-month injury absence, Nimmo was slotted into the leadoff spot and responded with a trio of singles, coming around two score after two of them. Nimmo's return adds a high on-base element to the top of the New York order and it's certainly a welcome sight for fantasy managers; Nimmo is now slashing .333/.435/.444 with a pair of steals in his 22 games this season. He can be a multi-category contributor the rest of the way if he can avoid the injury bug. |
Jul 2 2021 | Nimmo (finger) was activated from the 10-day injured list and is batting leadoff Friday against the Yankees. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old will rejoin the lineup Friday after being sidelined for two months with a sprained finger on his left hand. Nimmo will work in center field and should reclaim the everyday role there if he can stay healthy. |

Nimmo has been on the shelf since early May after suffering a small ligament tear near the base of his left index finger, but he's now on the cusp of rejoining the Mets. |
Jun 25 2021 | Nimmo (finger) is expected to be activated from the injured list sometime next week, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old picked up his rehab assignment at Triple-A Syracuse last weekend, and he's gone 2-for-7 with a walk and three runs across three appearances. The Mets begin a road trip Monday at Washington, and Nimmo is expected to rejoin the big-league roster after a couple more appearances in the minors. |
Jun 24 2021 | Nimmo (finger) could be reinstated from the 10-day injured list during the Mets' upcoming road trip, which is scheduled to begin Monday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo restarted his rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, and he's gone 1-for-4 with two runs and a walk across two games. He's expected to remain with the minor-league club through the weekend, but he could rejoin the Mets as early as Monday. The 28-year-old hit .318 with a home run, eight RBI, seven runs and two stolen bases in 22 major-league games prior to his injury, and he should take over as the primary center fielder once cleared to return. |
Jun 20 2021 | Nimmo (finger) will start in center field and bat leadoff in a rehab game Sunday for Triple-A Syracuse, Conor Foley of The Scranton Times-Tribune reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo will be making his first appearance for Syracuse -- and playing in his first game at any level -- since May 13, after his initial rehab assignment with the Triple-A affiliate was paused when he felt some renewed pain in the sprained finger on his left hand. Five weeks later, Nimmo is feeling healthy again, and he should be ready to return from the 10-day injured list at some point later this week once he ramps up a bit at Triple-A. Along with Nimmo, Michael Conforto (hamstring) is in the midst of a rehab assignment at Syracuse, so the Mets should soon be back to full strength in the outfield. |
Jun 18 2021 | Manager Luis Rojas said Nimmo (finger) could begin a rehab assignment next week, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old progressed to taking batting practice this week and is nearing the final stages of his rehab work. |

Jun 11 2021 | Nimmo (finger) hopes to head out on a rehab assignment next week, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Upon receiving a second opinion, Nimmo learned that he is not dealing with a nerve issue but actually a small ligament tear near the base of his left index finger. It should heal on its own. He appears to be tracking toward a late-June activation from the injured list if he avoids setbacks. |
Jun 6 2021 | Nimmo (finger) has resumed swinging, although at a low intensity, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo unsuccessfully tried to hit off a tee and soft toss last week, but had to stop because his bruised finger continued to cause him pain. He's resumed swinging, though it doesn't appear that he's close to facing high-velocity pitching. With that being said, a late-June return remains a best-case scenario for the outfielder. |
Jun 2 2021 | Nimmo (finger) has no timetable for a new rehab assignment, Deesha Thosar of The New York Daily News reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: According to manager Luis Rojas on Tuesday, Nimmo recently attempted to hit off a tee and take soft toss from a coach but his finger was still bothering him. The outfielder last saw action May 13 at Triple-A Syracuse before that rehab stint was cut short, and he'll need a couple weeks to get back into game shape once he's finally comfortable swinging a bat again. |

His expected return to the active roster won't become clear until he gets through a rehab game or two without issues. |

It's not yet clear if he's suffered a significant setback or if he'll be just one day behind schedule. |

Nimmo could rejoin the team late next week if he only spends the 10-day minimum on the shelf, though it's unclear how long he's expected to be sidelined. Kevin Pillar is starting in Game 2 and figures to see the bulk of the time in center field during his absence for the Mets. |

May 2 2021 | Nimmo (finger) is not in the lineup Sunday against the Phillies, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old suffered a bruised finger during Saturday's game and appeared to be in considerable pain, so it's not a major surprise to see him sitting out the series finale. Nimmo had X-rays come back negative after leaving the game and should be considered day-to-day. Manager Luis Rojas said prior to Sunday's game that he remains optimistic Nimmo will avoid a trip to the 10-day injured list, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. |
May 1 2021 | Nimmo had X-rays come back negative on his left index finger and was diagnosed with a contusion after exiting Saturday's game against the Phillies, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old appeared to be in considerable pain when he sustained the injury during the seventh inning Saturday, so it's a sigh of relief that he didn't suffer a fracture or aggravate the hip issue he dealt with earlier in the week. Nimmo should be considered day-to-day for the time being, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him receive the day off for Sunday's series finale. |
Apr 28 2021 | Nimmo (hip) is starting Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo sat out Tuesday's game due to a mild right hip impingement but will start in center field and lead off for the series finale. |
Apr 22 2021 | Nimmo (hip) isn't starting Thursday's game against the Cubs, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo is still dealing with right hip stiffness, so he'll be held out of the lineup as a precautionary measure for a second straight game. |
Apr 21 2021 | Mets manager Luis Rojas said Nimmo was excluded from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs due to a stiff right hip, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo is expected to be available off the bench, so the hip issue doesn't appear to be a major concern. Kevin Pillar will pick up the start in center field with Nimmo out of the lineup for the first time in the Mets' 13 games this season. |
Apr 14 2021 | Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Phillies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's the third three-hit performance in the last five games for Nimmo, who just keeps getting on base. The 28-year-old sports a .464 batting average (13-for-28) and .583 OBP through eight games from the top of the Mets' order, but with most of the rest of the offense having sluggish starts to the year, he's only crossed the plate four times so far. |
Apr 13 2021 | Nimmo went 3-for-6 with two walks, a run scored and three RBI across both ends of Tuesday's doubleheader as the Mets swept the Phillies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old did a great job setting the table as the Mets' leadoff hitter in both games, drawing two free passes and scoring in the opener before lacing three singles and driving in three runs in the nightcap. Nimmo has reached base multiple times in all seven games to begin the season, and while he's still looking for his first homer. he boasts a scorching .435/.581/.565 slash line. |
Apr 8 2021 | Nimmo went 3-for-5 with two doubles Thursday against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo led off the bottom of the first inning with a double -- his first extra-base hit of the campaign. He added a single and an additional double to record his second consecutive multi-hit game. Nimmo has also already drawn five walks in four contests, putting him in a strong position to rack up runs as the team's primary leadoff hitter against right-handed pitching. |
Mar 26 2021 | Nimmo has gone 12-for-39 (.308) this spring with two doubles, a triple, a home run, a stolen base and a 6:10 BB:K this spring. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 27-year-old appears ticketed for the leadoff spot thanks to his .390 career OBP and 15.1 percent walk rate, and Nimmo has flashed his patience once again in Grapefruit League action. With Francisco Lindor added to the lineup behind him, Nimmo could threaten 100 runs scored in 2021 if he can stay healthy. |
Mar 1 2021 | Manager Luis Rojas said Monday that Nimmo is the most likely candidate to serve as the Mets' primary leadoff man in 2021, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Durability and defense remain concerns for Nimmo heading into his sixth season in the majors, but his ability to draw walks at sky-high rates often makes up for those shortcomings. He's posted walk rates above 14 percent in each of the past four years, boosting his career on-base percentage to .390. Nimmo's ability to get on base make him an ideal fit in the leadoff role, and if he stays healthy and sits atop the lineup throughout the campaign, he should be a plus source of runs while hitting in front of an improved Mets lineup that now includes Francisco Lindor. Rojas mentioned Lindor, Jonathan Villar, Jeff McNeil and Kevin Pillar as other players that he's considered for the leadoff gig, but Nimmo remains in the driver's seat for those duties. |
Jan 15 2021 | Nimmo signed a one-year, $4.7 million contract with the Mets on Friday to avoid arbitration, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 27-year-old appeared in only 69 games during 2019, but he played 55 of 60 games last season and had a .280/.404/.484 slash line with eight homers. Nimmo is expected to start in center field for the Mets in 2021, barring any additional additions in free agency. |
Sep 24 2020 | Nimmo is not in Thursday's lineup against the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He will head to the bench with lefty Patrick Corbin on the hill for Washington. Guillermo Heredia will start in center field and bat eighth. |
Sep 22 2020 | Nimmo will sit Tuesday against lefty Blake Snell and the Rays. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo wasn't being platooned earlier in the year, but he's now been in the lineup against just one of the seven lefties the Mets have faced thus far in September. Guillermo Heredia gets the nod in center field in his absence. |
Sep 18 2020 | Nimmo will be on the bench Friday against the Braves. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo sits with lefty Max Fried on the mound for Atlanta. Jake Marisnick (hamstring) starts in center field. |
Sep 17 2020 | Nimmo went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, three RBI and a walk in Thursday's win over the Phillies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo came up with a pair of big hits in the contest. The first was a two-run triple with two outs in the sixth inning to tie the score at six. Then, with the game still knotted in the ninth, Nimmo blasted a solo shot to right field off Brandon Workman to push New York ahead. The big game continued a strong stretch for Nimmo, who has collected seven multi-hit efforts since Sept. 6. He is batting .400 (16-for-40) with three homers and six RBI over that span. |
Sep 16 2020 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Phillies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He took Jake Arrieta deep in the fifth inning for the Mets' only offense of the night. Nimmo continues to do his part at the top of the order, slashing .263/.388/.468 through 44 games with seven homers, 13 RBI and 29 runs. |
Sep 12 2020 | Nimmo isn't in Saturday's lineup against the Blue Jays. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo will head to the bench as left-hander Robbie Ray toes the rubber for the Blue Jays on Saturday. Jake Marisnick will serve as the center fielder in his place. |
Sep 8 2020 | Nimmo will be on the bench against lefty John Means and the Orioles on Tuesday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo has now been on the bench against each of the last three southpaws the Mets have faced. Jake Marisnick will be the center fielder Tuesday. |
Sep 7 2020 | Nimmo went 3-for-6 with a solo home run and an additional run Sunday in the Mets' 14-1 win over the Phillies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo slugged one of five long balls on the day for the Mets, who rolled to their biggest run total and largest margin of victory of the season. He'll start in center field and bat leadoff in Monday's series finale with the Phillies, who will bring right-hander and ex-Met Zack Wheeler to the hill. |
Sep 3 2020 | Nimmo is not in Thursday's lineup against the Yankees. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He will head to the bench with lefty J.A. Happ on the hill for the opposition. Jake Marisnick will start in center field and bat seventh. |
Sep 2 2020 | Nimmo will sit against lefty John Means and the Orioles on Wednesday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo hasn't been platooned this season, as Wednesday's off day marks just the third time he's been on the bench against a lefty. Jake Marisnick will start in center field in his absence. |
Aug 30 2020 | Nimmo isn't in the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Yankees. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo went 0-for-4 with a walk, one run and four strikeouts in Sunday's matinee, and he'll take a seat for Game 2. Jake Marisnick will start in center field. |
Aug 28 2020 | Nimmo is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the Yankees. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo started the past 14 games and went 15-for-53 during that stretch, and he'll take a seat for Friday's matinee. Jake Marisnick (hamstring) was activated off the injured list and will start in center field Game 1. |
Aug 27 2020 | Nimmo is not in Thursday's starting lineup against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo will take a seat on the bench for Thursday's series finale following a string of 14 consecutive starts during which he went 15-for-53 (.283) with four home runs and a 9:9 BB:K. Billy Hamilton is covering center field and hitting ninth in his stead. |
Aug 26 2020 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo went deep in the fifth inning for his fifth homer of the season. The 27-year-old outfielder is slashing .253/.413/.495 with nine RBI, 20 runs scored and a stolen base in 29 games this season. Nimmo has hit safely in five of his last six games, going 8-for-25 (.320) with two homers, three RBI, and four runs scored in that span. |
Aug 19 2020 | Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a triple, a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He took rookie Humberto Mejia deep in the third inning for his fourth homer of the year. The 27-year-old continues to thrive at the top of the Mets' batting order, as Nimmo is slashing .297/.447/.676 over his last 10 games with a 9:5 BB:K, a double, two triples, three home runs, five RBI and seven runs. |
Aug 13 2020 | Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run Wednesday in the Mets' 11-6 win over the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The big day at the plate helped Nimmo break a 3-for-26 skid through the Mets' first 10 games of August. The disciplined Nimmo still managed to rack up 13 walks during that stretch, allowing him to carry a robust .438 on-base percentage into Thursday's series finale. He'll start in center field and lead off for the Mets. |
Aug 10 2020 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 16-4 loss to the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He took Sean Doolittle deep in the ninth inning when the game was already long decided. Nimmo came into the game having gone just 2-for-20 over his last eight contests, although that "slump" came with 11 walks. On the season, the 27-year-old is slashing .226/.423/.337 with two homers, five RBI and 12 runs in 17 games. |
Aug 8 2020 | Nimmo is not in the lineup Saturday against Miami, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo sits with lefty Daniel Castano starting for the Marlins, though there's no evidence that he'll be slipping into a platoon role any time soon, as he'd been in the lineup for each of the Mets' first 14 games this season. Billy Hamilton gets the nod in center field in his absence. |
Aug 6 2020 | Nimmo went 0-for-2 with three walks and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Neither team produced much offense -- there were only 12 total hits in the game, none longer than a double -- so Nimmo's ability to get on base from the top of the Mets' order proved to be crucial. The 27-year-old is hitting only .227 (10-for-44) through 13 games, but he has 12 walks and three HBP to fuel a robust .424 OBP. |
Jul 30 2020 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Red Sox. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: His fifth-inning shot off Nathan Eovaldi was Nimmo's first homer of the season. The 27-year-old is off to a strong start at the plate, posting a .286/.400/.524 slash line through six games. |
Jul 24 2020 | Nimmo will lead off and play center field for Friday's season opener against the Braves. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: A neck issue limited Nimmo to just 69 games last season, and his numbers dipped from his breakout 2018 campaign, though his .221/.375/.407 slash line was still good for a solidly above-average 114 wRC+. He doesn't have the speed of a traditional leadoff man, as he's never reached double-digit steals, but his lifetime 15.2 percent walk rate and .387 on-base percentage make him an excellent table-setter. If he leads off consistently for the Mets this season, he should have plenty of opportunities to score with the likes of Jeff McNeil, Pete Alonso, Michael Conforto and Yoenis Cespedes hitting behind him. |
Mar 22 2020 | Nimmo appeared healthy and productive in spring training before MLB was put on pause, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The outfielder had a health scare in late February due to an irregular heartbeat, but after Nimmo underwent cardiac tests, the issue wasn't deemed to be one which would affect him on the field. He went out and proved it once he returned to action, posting a .379/.455/.552 slash line through 33 plate appearances. His OBP skills should keep him near the top of the Mets' batting order most days once the regular season begins, and while his fantasy production probably won't jump off the page, he could be a sneaky source of runs as a result. |
Feb 28 2020 | Nimmo (chest) is back in the lineup Friday against the Cardinals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was scratched Wednesday for cardiac tests. Per Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record, tests revealed an irregular heartbeat, but not one which is expected to affect Nimmo's ability to play. The situation appeared potentially worrisome, but he was cleared to return to action the next day and is already back in the lineup, so it doesn't seem as though his preparation for the upcoming season will be significantly impacted. |
Feb 27 2020 | Nimmo (chest) has been cleared to resume baseball activities, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was sent for additional tests by the team's cardiologist, but he's since been cleared to return to action. Expect the outfielder to appear in a spring game within the next few days. |
Feb 26 2020 | Nimmo's removal from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros for cardiac tests is considered purely precautionary, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Luis Rojas said he didn't know why exactly the team's cardiologist ordered additional tests for the outfielder. The Mets don't currently appear particularly concerned about the issue, though the full picture won't become clear until the tests are complete. |
Feb 24 2020 | Nimmo (undisclosed) will start in center field and bat second in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 26-year-old sat out Sunday's game against the Cardinals after being hit by a pitch a day earlier, but the one-day respite was apparently all Nimmo needed to move past the plunking. Nimmo's 2019 campaign was derailed by injury, but now that he's ostensibly healthy again, he looks poised to occupy at least a large-side platoon role in the New York outfield this season. |
Feb 23 2020 | Nimmo (undisclosed) is not in the lineup for Sunday's spring game, according to Tim Healey of Newsday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo was removed from Saturday's spring game after being hit by a pitch, and he will get at least one full day to rest and recover before returning to game action. |
Feb 22 2020 | Nimmo exited Saturday's game against the Marlins for precautionary reasons after getting hit by a pitch, Andersen Pickard of MLB Daily Dish reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Mets don't appear to be concerned about the issue, but the team has little reason not to be overly cautious this early in spring. The nature of Nimmo's minor injury is not yet clear. |
Jan 10 2020 | Nimmo and the Mets agreed to a one-year, $2.175 million contract Friday, avoiding arbitration, freelance baseball writer Robert Murray reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo struggled earlier in the season before a neck injury sidelined him for over half the year. He rebounded well in September, giving him a .221/.375/.407 slash line (114 wRC+) in 69 games overall. |
Sep 23 2019 | Nimmo is not in the lineup Monday against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo has started the past seven games and gone 8-for-27 (.296) with three home runs, seven RBI and five runs scored during that stretch. Juan Lagares is starting in center field and hitting eighth against lefty Caleb Smith in Monday's series opener. |
Sep 17 2019 | Nimmo went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Rockies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 26-year-old is hitting only .241 (7-for-29) in 14 games since coming off the injured list at the beginning of September, but Nimmo's 12:11 BB:K has given him a .465 OBP in that span. On the year, he's slashing .208/.369/.384 through 57 contests with six homers and 22 RBI. |
Sep 14 2019 | Nimmo is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo is getting on base at a .500 clip since his return from the injured list, but this is now three consecutive absences, all against opposing lefty starters. It may be frustrating for fantasy owners, but it makes sense that the Mets would want to limit his workload after Nimmo spent more than three months on the shelf. Juan Lagares is serving as his platoon partner. |
Sep 13 2019 | Nimmo is out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Dodgers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Nimmo finds himself on the bench for the second straight contest and has started six of 12 games since being activated off the injured list at the start of September. The Mets may be taking it easy with the 25-year-old after he spent more than three months on the injured list with a bulging disc in his neck. Juan Lagares receives the start in center field against lefty Clayton Kershaw. |
Sep 12 2019 | Nimmo is not in Thursday's lineup against the Diamondbacks. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He is hitting .263 with two home runs, 12 walks, eight strikeouts and one steal in 10 games this month. Juan Lagares will start in center field and hit seventh. |
Sep 4 2019 | Nimmo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After being reinstated from the 60-day injured list Sunday, Nimmo started in center field in the first two games of the series with Washington, going 2-for-5 with a home run, double, stolen base, three walks, three RBI and two runs between the contests. Though he'll give way to Juan Lagares in the series finale, a healthy Nimmo looks on track to see the bulk of the action at the position in September. |

Jul 25 2018 | Nimmo will hit seventh and play center field Wednesday against the Padres, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | Amed Rosario will replace Nimmo in the leadoff spot for the third game in a row, all of which have come against left-handed pitching. The lefty-hitting Nimmo should continue setting the table for the Mets versus right-handers, but the 25-year-old is beginning to lose some steam from his hot start to the season. Nimmo is slashing a lowly .169/.319/.247 over the past month. |
Jul 11 2018 | Nimmo is out of the lineup against the Phillies on Wednesday. | Nimmo will retreat to the bench for a rare day off following 12 straight starts. Over those contests, he's hit a poor .136 with 19 strikeouts. In his absence, Matt den Dekker will man center field after getting his contract selected by New York prior to the series finale. |
Jul 11 2018 | Nimmo hit a three-run walkoff home run as a pinch hitter in Wednesday's 3-0 extra-inning win over the Phillies. | Entering the game in the 10th inning, Nimmo took the first pitch he saw over the wall in right-center for his 15th homer of the year and first career walkoff hit. He's been slumping since mid-June, hitting only .164 (9-for-55) with 24 strikeouts and just one RBI over his prior 17 games heading into Wednesday, but Nimmo's heroics might have been just what he needed to snap out of it and build up some momentum heading into the All-Star break. |
Jun 27 2018 | Nimmo (finger) returns to the starting lineup Wednesday against the Pirates, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | Nimmo missed a pair of starts after getting hit in the right pinky by a pitch Sunday. He was able to pinch hit Tuesday and will be a full participant in Wednesday's game, leading off and playing center field. |
Jun 27 2018 | Nimmo (finger) came on as a pinch hitter for Steven Matz in the seventh inning of Tuesday's extra-inning win over the Pirates, going 0-for-1. | The fact that he was able to swing a bat is an encouraging sign. Nimmo has been out of the starting lineup since jamming his right pinky finger Saturday, but it looks like his return to full-time action is imminent. |
Jun 26 2018 | Nimmo (finger) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates, according to Tim Healey of Newsday. | Nimmo was able to pinch run in Monday's game, but he is still unable to hit, so he will be held out of the lineup for a second day in a row. Nimmo will have a chance to return to action Wednesday, but with a team off day after that, there's a good chance the Mets hold him out at least until Friday. |
Jun 25 2018 | An MRI taken Monady on Nimmo's injured pinky came back negative, and he is considered day-to-day, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. | There was some concern that Nimmo could be dealing with a fractured finger, but the results of Monday's MRI revealed that he is not dealing with anything besides some soreness. While Nimmo seemingly is not facing any sort of long-term absence, he will not start Monday, and he will not do so until he can again "grip a bat without discomfort." |
Jun 25 2018 | Nimmo (finger) has not been cleared to hit in a game, but was used as a pinch runner Monday against the Pirates, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports. | He took dry swings prior to this game and said he felt fine, but the Mets clearly weren't ready to insert him into the lineup. Nimmo is day-to-day and could return to the lineup Tuesday. |
Jun 25 2018 | Nimmo (finger) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates. | The Mets have not yet revealed the results of the MRI Nimmo underwent Monday, but an initial report indicates he is not dealing with a serious injury. He will get at least one day off to rest and recover, however. |
Jun 25 2018 | Nimmo (finger) "avoided a significant injury," according to Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record. | The report did not include any other details regarding Nimmo's status, but it is still good news for all those invested in Nimmo's well-being. The Mets figure to provide an official update on Nimmo's health at some point in the near future. |
Jun 24 2018 | Nimmo (finger) will get an MRI on Monday but is optimistic that nothing is broken, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. "It feels OK right now," Nimmo said after Sunday's game against the Dodgers. | He was wearing a splint on his right hand after leaving the game with a sore right pinky, but made it seem as though he won't be forced to miss much time. Nimmo already had X-rays, which were negative, so there's a chance he could return to action sometime next week. |
Jun 24 2018 | Nimmo left Sunday's game against the Dodgers with a sore right pinky. | X-rays were negative, a huge relief for the Mets. Nimmo has been one of the few bright spots for the struggling Mets, hitting an impressive .284/.400/.574 while working his way into an everyday role. It's unclear how much time he'll need to miss, if any. |
Jun 19 2018 | Nimmo homered twice in a 4-for-6 game with four RBI Monday against the Rockies. | Nimmo's first home run of the night was an inside-the-parker, but the second was a bit more traditional, a 449-foot shot to deep center field. Nimmo is having an absurd June, as he now has six home runs to boost his batting line to .288/.364/.661 over 15 games. Expect the Mets to keep riding the hot hand with Nimmo, who seems entrenched atop the Mets lineup for now. |
Jun 17 2018 | Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, double, and two runs scored Sunday against the Diamondbacks. | Nimmo led the game off with a double and then put the Mets ahead in the ninth inning with a two-run home run off Brad Boxberger. It was his 10th home run of the season and the performance also marked his second consecutive multi-hit game. Though Yoenis Cespedes (hip, quadriceps) is set to start another rehab assignment, Nimmo is making his case to remain an everyday player, posting a .402 on-base percentage and .565 slugging percentage through 168 at-bats this season. |
Jun 14 2018 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Thursday against the Diamondbacks. | Nimmo hit his ninth home run of the season in his first at-bat of the game off of Matt Koch. He's been in a bit of a cold spell of late -- he has just six hits in his last 36 at-bats -- but continues to show surprising power with a .555 slugging percentage through 155 at-bats and is a major asset in on-base percentage leagues thanks to a 13.6 percent walk rate. With Yoenis Cespedes (hip, quadriceps) still on the shelf, Nimmo is guaranteed playing time in the short-term. |
Jun 9 2018 | Nimmo went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Yankees. | He led off the bottom of the first inning with his eighth homer of the year, and it proved to be the Mets' only run of the night. Six of Nimmo's home runs have come in his last 16 games, however, and the 25-year-old has a robust .300/.408/.717 slash line over that stretch. Even when Yoenis Cespedes (hip) comes off the disabled list, it's hard to imagine Nimmo returning to the bench given his current form. |
Jun 1 2018 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with one walk and a two-run homer in Friday's loss to the Cubs. | Nimmo got the Mets into the scoring column after smacking a two-run homer in the third, but the Cubs would ultimately rally to earn the win. He's been unstoppable at the dish of late, recording four straight multi-hit games and smashing two home runs with six runs driven in over that span. |
May 30 2018 | Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and two RBI in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Braves. | He was also caught stealing for the first time this season, but otherwise Nimmo just keeps on rolling. He's now hitting .364 (12-for-33) over his last nine games with nine runs, six RBI and two steals, and eight of his hits over that stretch have gone for extra bases (four doubles, a triple, three homers). |
May 27 2018 | Nimmo is not in the lineup Sunday against the Brewers, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. | Nimmo will receive a day of rest in Sunday's series finale before the team heads to Atlanta, where Nimmo is expected to start both games of Monday's doubleheader against the Braves. Jose Bautista draws the start in left field in his absence. |
May 26 2018 | Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored Saturday against the Brewers. | Nimmo got a hold of his fourth home run of the season, blasting a a solo shot to right field in the second inning off Chase Anderson. He has taken advantage of a regular starting role with Yoenis Cespedes (hip) on the disabled list, reaching base in seven of his nine start while also recording two home runs and seven runs scored. It remains to be seen what Nimmo's role will be once the Mets' outfield is back at full strength, but he continues to make a case for playing time. |
May 25 2018 | Nimmo went 4-for-4 with a double, a triple and two runs to help the Mets to a 5-0 victory over the Brewers on Thursday. | A day after he stroked his third home run of the season, Nimmo continued his hot hitting with this four-hit effort that brought his average up from .259 to .294 over 85 at-bats. Perhaps more impressively, Nimmo is currently getting on base at a ridiculous clip, as his on-base percentage now stands at .450 - an outstanding number by any standards, but especially considering the Mets have been deploying him at the top of the order. His current OPS of .991 might not stay that high, but Nimmo actually has a career OBP of .382 over his 331 career big-league at-bats, so that could be a sustainable part of his game. Either way, if Nimmo continues to hit like this, it would be hard to justify not finding a way to give him at least semi-regular at-bats, even when Yoenis Cespedes returns from the disabled list. |
May 24 2018 | Nimmo went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Marlins. | His fifth-inning shot off Dan Straily looked like it would be the only run the Mets would need thanks to another dazzling outing by jacob deGrom, but Jeurys Familia blew the save in the ninth. Nimmo now has a .259/.423/.469 slash line with three homers in 36 games, and his OBP should keep him at the top of the Mets' lineup nearly every day, at least as long as Yoenis Cespedes (hip) is on the disabled list. |
May 16 2018 | Nimmo connected on a pinch-hit solo home run in the ninth inning Wednesday to break up a shutout in a 12-1 loss to the Blue Jays. | It's just his second homer of the season. Nimmo has been struggling in May, hitting .214 (6-for-28) over 12 games, and while the 25-year-old should continue to pick up extra playing time in the short term with Yoenis Cespedes (hip) on the disabled list, there's no guarantee Nimmo will provide much fantasy production as he does so. |
May 10 2018 | Nimmo went 1-for-3 with two walks, a triple and a run scored in Wednesday's extra-inning loss to the Reds. | Hitting leadoff, Nimmo improved his OBP on the season to an impressive .453. With Yoenis Cespedes (quad) at less than 100 percent and Jay Bruce on paternity leave, Nimmo could be a fixture at the top of the Mets lineup through the weekend, giving him some intriguing short-term fantasy value. |
Apr 16 2018 | Nimmo got the start in right field and hit leadoff in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Brewers, going 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored. | The homer was his first of the season. Following a big spring, Nimmo didn't get much of an opportunity to prove he could contribute before Michael Conforto was back from his shoulder injury, but Sunday's performance should remind manager Mickey Callaway that he has four quality outfielders at his disposal. Until the logjam for playing time gets cleared up, however, Nimmo's fantasy value will likely be restricted to NL-only formats and DFS lineups on days when he's announced as a starter. |

Apr 16 2018 | Nimmo got the start in right field and hit leadoff in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Brewers, going 3-for-5 with a triple, a solo home run and a second run scored. | The homer was his first of the season. |
Apr 13 2018 | Nimmo was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday. | Nimmo hit .333/.600/.444 in his opening 15 plate appearances for the Mets this season, but was sent down in favor of pitcher Corey Oswalt on Tuesday. He's back in the big leagues now in exchange for another pitcher (Jacob Rhame). It's possible he ends up shuttling back in forth as the Mets alternate between using their final bench spot on a hitter or a pitcher, though his numbers suggest he belongs in the big leagues. He owns a .266/.379.394 career slash line in 310 plate appearances, carried by an excellent 13.9 percent walk rate. He could be just one injury away from a bigger role, but for now, his fantasy value is limited by his uncertain playing time. |
Apr 5 2018 | Nimmo is out of the lineup Thursday against the Nationals and is expected to see more time on the bench going forward following Michael Conforto's (shoulder) activation from the disabled list, Tim Britton of The Athletic New York reports. | Nimmo split time in center field with Juan Lagares through the Mets' first five games, serving as the club's leadoff hitter on three occasions. Though Nimmo's on-base skills should afford him a high spot in the lineup when he starts, those opportunities will come far less frequently now that Conforto is seemingly ready to handle an everyday role. In fact, there's a strong possibility that Nimmo's playing-time outlook is now even less favorable than that of Lagares, whose premium defense could afford him frequent use off the bench as a late-inning replacement for Conforto or corner outfielders Yoenis Cespedes and Jay Bruce. |
Apr 3 2018 | Nimmo is back in the lineup Tuesday against the Phillies after missing the previous contest due to illness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | Nimmo will lead off and play center field, just as he did on Opening Day. The lead off spot is a vote of confidence in Nimmo, though it still appears likely that he'll be the one to lose out once Michael Conforto (shoulder) returns from the disabled list, which could happen as early as Thursday. |
Apr 1 2018 | Nimmo was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals due to an illness, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic New York reports. | In the initial lineup released by the Mets on Sunday, Nimmo was as the team's leadoff man and starting center fielder, but those plans were scrapped after the 25-year-old reported to the clubhouse with flu-like symptoms. Juan Lagares will replace Nimmo in center field and hit seventh while second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera sets the table for the Mets. |
Mar 31 2018 | Nimmo is not in the lineup Saturday against St. Louis. | Nimmo will occupy a spot on the bench for the second of a three-game set after going 2-for-3 with one walk and two runs scored during the Mets' Opening Day victory Thursday. In his place, manager Mickey Callaway elected to go with Juan Lagares, who will bat seventh in the order. |
Mar 30 2018 | Nimmo went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored in Thursday's 9-4 win over the Cardinals. | The Mets' offense was humming on Opening Day, and Nimmo looked very comfortable at the top of the lineup. Michael Conforto (shoulder) could be back in action a lot sooner than originally anticipated, so Nimmo's window for consistent fantasy value could close quickly, but for the moment it looks like he'll be a useful source of OBP and runs. |
Mar 29 2018 | Nimmo will start in center field and lead off in Thursday's season opener against the Cardinals, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports. | Nimmo is expected to occupy the larger side of a platoon in center field with Juan Lagares to begin the season and should man the leadoff spot when he starts thanks to his exceptional eye at the plate. The 25-year-old's willingness to take walks will raise his value in leagues that swat out on-base percentage for batting average, but a lack of premium pop or speed serves to limit Nimmo's overall fantasy ceiling. Moreover, he'll likely fade into a reserve role or potentially even head to Triple-A Las Vegas once Michael Conforto (shouldd |
Mar 14 2018 | Nimmo 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's split-squad game against the Astros. | The homer was his third of the spring and wasn't a cheapie, as he took Gerrit Cole deep to lead off the game for the Mets. Nimmo's impressive performance at the plate so far in camp is inching him closer to a starting spot in the outfield while Michael Conforto (shoulder) is on the DL, but Nimmo's career .264/.367/.392 slash line in the majors sounds a note of caution about his sleeper status, especially in shallower mixed leagues. |
Mar 9 2018 | Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, a run scored and an RBI in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals. | He continues to thrive at the top of the Mets' batting order through the early part of the spring. Nimmo is locked into a 25-man roster spot, but his regular-season role while Michael Conforto (shoulder) is sidelined remains up in the air. If he keeps raking, though, new manager Mickey Callaway is likely to leave him in center field and in the leadoff spot come Opening Day, giving Nimmo some intriguing early-season fantasy value. |
Mar 6 2018 | Nimmo went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers. | The homer was his second of the spring, and Nimmo is making a strong early case to see the bulk of the action in center field to begin the regular season while Michael Conforto (shoulder) is out, slashing .389/.444/.889 through seven games. The Mets may still decide Juan Lagares' defense is more valuable to them in center than Nimmo's bat, but if the 24-year-old does end up seeing the bulk of the starts he'll have some value in deeper fantasy formats. |
Feb 14 2018 | Mets manager Mickey Callaway is leaning toward deploying Juan Lagares rather than Nimmo as the team's primary center fielder to begin the season, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. | Nimmo should still receive the opportunity to compete with Lagares for the starting role in spring training, but regardless of how the job battle shakes out, the victor is merely keeping the seat warm until Michael Conforto (shoulder) is cleared to return from the disabled list, perhaps at some point in May. For fantasy purposes, Nimmo, who sported a .379 on-base percentage in 215 plate appearances with the Mets last season, would be a more intriguing option if were to come away with the starting gig given that he would also rank as a top candidate to fill the vacancy atop the order, but Callaway and the Mets brass seem to prioritize defense above all else in center field. Lagares, a 2014 Gold Glove award winner, holds a clear edge over Nimmo in that regard, and his superior range would help compensate for the poor defenders (Jay Bruce and Yoenis Cespedes) that would likely flank him in most games. With that in mind, Nimmo appears most likely to open the campaign as a fourth outfielder while seeing a few starts per week against right-handed pitching. |
Sep 8 2017 | Nimmo went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, three RBI and three runs during Thursday's win over Cincinnati. | The 2011 first-round pick is on a mini heater with a 7-for-13 stretch at the dish that includes two homers, eight RBI and five runs. After posting a pedestrian .227/.364/.368 slash line through 198 plate appearances with Triple-A Las Vegas this year, it's probably wise to keep expectations in check for Nimmo moving forward. Still, he could catch lightning in a bottle and reward in deep settings or daily contests. |
Sep 5 2017 | Nimmo went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI in Monday's win over the Phillies. | Since falling into a regular role in the Mets' injury-depleted outfield in mid-August, Nimmo has posted a .281/.414/.386 slash line with a homer, a steal, seven RBI and 11 runs in 18 games. His lack of power limits his fantasy upside, but especially in OBP leagues he could provide a useful boost over the final weeks. |
Aug 24 2017 | Nimmo is out of the lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks. | Nimmo will take a seat for the second time this series after going 1-for-1 with a double, three walks and two runs during Wednesday's victory. In his place, Michael Conforto slides over to right while Juan Lagares draws the start in center. |
Aug 22 2017 | Nimmo is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports. | Despite being in the midst of a modest five-game hit streak, Nimmo will head to the bench for what appears to be a regular day off. Michael Conforto will slide over to start in his place in right field, leaving an open spot for Juan Lagares to fill in center. |
Aug 19 2017 | Nimmo got the start in right field Friday, hitting eighth and going 1-for-3. | With Curtis Granderson now on his way to the Dodgers, Nimmo would seem to be in line for regular duty with the Mets for the remainder of the season, although the team could elect to give Juan Lagares more playing time as well. Nimmo's failed to provide much power so far in his brief big-league career, but fantasy GMs who add him for the stretch run can pin some hope on the .352/.423/.541 slash line the 24-year-old produced in 97 games at Triple-A Las Vegas last year. |
Jul 28 2017 | Nimmo (chest) was activated from the 10-day DL on Friday. | A partially collapsed lung forced Nimmo to the DL back on July 8, but he's been given the green light to return following a four-game rehab assignment. Nimmo has displayed a strong approach at the upper levels, resulting in a .290 average and .365 OBP in 47 career games in the majors, but his power and speed are marginal. He may remain in a bench role the rest of the way unless the Mets move both Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce. |
Jul 24 2017 | Nimmo (chest) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports. | Nimmo was placed on the disabled list on July 8 with a partially collapsed lung. He took part in a simulated game Friday and is now ready to advance his rehab to the final stages. It's unclear how many rehab games he's scheduled to play, but the young outfielder should be activated from the disabled list sooner than later. |
Jul 22 2017 | Nimmo (chest) played five innings in a simulated game Friday, Justin Tasch of The New York Post reports. | The outfielder continues to make progress from a partially collapsed lung, but he's not yet running at full speed, the final obstacle before he's able to return to game action. Nimmo could head back to Triple-A Las Vegas once he's healthy if the Mets haven't cleared up their outfield logjam with a trade prior to his activation from the DL. |
Jul 15 2017 | Nimmo (chest) has been cleared to take batting practice, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. | This is certainly a positive development for Nimmo, who was diagnosed with a partially collapsed lung last week. However, he has not yet been given the green light to resume running, and a clear timetable for his return probably won't take shape until that happens. |
Jul 8 2017 | Nimmo was placed on the disabled list with a partially collapsed lung, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports. | Nimmo had been experiencing discomfort prior to Friday's game against the Cardinals, and was sent to the hospital where he was diagnosed with the collapsed lung. The team is unaware what caused Nimmo's injury and he will be out for the foreseeable future with this issue, although manager Terry Collins did state that it "isn't as serious as it sounds." Nimmo was released from the hospital after spending most of the day there Friday, but the Mets won't rush their 24-year-old back under any circumstances, so expect a couple days before the team maps out a clear timetable for the outfielder. |
Jul 5 2017 | Nimmo went 3-for-4 in Tuesday's loss to the Nationals. | With both Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) and Curtis Granderson (hip) at less than 100 percent right now Nimmo has started three straight games, but Tuesday's performance was his first positive one at the plate. Expect him to continue seeing his name on the Mets lineup card in the short term, but the 24-year-old should return to a bench role once the team's veterans get healthier. |
Jul 2 2017 | Nimmo will start in center field and lead off Sunday against the Phillies, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. | Nimmo will pick up his first start of the season with the big club with Michael Conforto (hand) not yet ready to return from the disabled list and Curtis Granderson nursing a hip injury. As of now, the Mets are only viewing Granderson's tight hip as a day-to-day situation, so Nimmo may not be in line for regular at-bats after Sunday. |
Jun 16 2017 | Nimmo was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday. | With Matt Harvey and Juan Lagares hitting the DL on Friday, the Mets made a pair of moves, calling up both Nimmo and Matt Reynolds. Nimmo will simply provide outfield depth after posting an uninspiring .223/.365/.392 slash line across 43 minor league games, mostly at the Triple-A level. Nimmo logged 73 at-bats for the Mets in 2016, hitting .274 with six RBI and 20 strikeouts. |
