Dec 15 2021Reynolds signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Reynolds appeared in 115 games for the Mets between 2016 and 2017, and he's now back in the organization. He's never found much success in the majors and spent 2021 at the Triple-A level, where he hit .269/.373/.395 with five home runs, 20 doubles, 35 RBI and 40 runs in 93 games.
Sep 12 2020Reynolds was designated for assignment by the Royals on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Reynolds spent just four days on the Royals' roster, going 0-for-11. The move clears space for Kelvin Gutierrez (elbow) to return from the 45-day injured list.
Sep 9 2020Reynolds will start at third base and will bat sixth Wednesday against the Indians, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Reynolds was called up from the alternate site Tuesday and started in the Royals' 8-6 win over the Indians, going 0-for-3 with a run scored. In the lineup for the second straight day against a right-handed pitcher (Carlos Carrasco), Reynolds could get at extended trial at the hot corner while Maikel Franco fills in as the Royals' designated hitter in place of the injured Jorge Soler (oblique).
Sep 8 2020Reynolds' contract was selected by the Royals on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Reynolds will join the active roster with Jorge Soler (oblique) landing on the injured list in a corresponding move. Reynolds owns a career .223/.295/.340 slash line in 240 plate appearances, the most recent of which came in 2018, so he's likely to be limited to a bench role during his time with the club.
Jul 19 2020Reynolds cleared MLB's COVID-19 protocols and reported for summer training Sunday, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 29-year-old was missing for the first couple weeks of camp for unspecified reasons, but he was able to join the team for the final stretch before the regular season. Reynolds could be a factor as a utility infielder for the Royals in 2020, but the delayed start to camp may mean he's not game ready with Opening Day less than a week away.
Jul 6 2020The Royals placed Reynolds on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to an unspecified issue. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Reynolds was one of three Royals moved to the IL, with no explanation for any of the transactions provided by the team. Salvador Perez later told reporters Saturday that his placement on the IL was the result of a positive COVID-19 test, but neither Reynolds nor Meibrys Viloria has shed light on the nature of his absence. Reynolds had previously joined the Royals on a minor-league deal in November and attended spring training as a non-roster invitee, but Kansas City has since added him to the 40-man roster. Once he's deemed available, Reynolds could be in the mix for a utility infield role with the big club.
Apr 7 2018Reynolds was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports. The Nationals wanted an extra bench bat with Adam Eaton (ankle) day-to-day. Reynolds is capable of playing the corner outfield spots as well as all four infield positions. He has a career .228/.300/.351 slash line in 226 MLB plate appearances.
Mar 25 2018The Nationals optioned Reynolds to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Jamal Collier of MLB.com reports.Reynolds joined the Nationals in February after being designated for assignment by the Mets and was aiming to crack the Opening Day roster as a utility infielder. The 25-year-old could earn a promotion to the majors if he can replicate his Triple-A slash line of .320/.396/.484 from last season, as Wilmer Difo will fill the super-utility role for Washington.
Feb 12 2018Reynolds was acquired by the Nationals on Monday in exchange for cash considerations, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.Reynolds had a subpar 2017 season with the Mets. He slashed .230/.326/.301 over 68 games while logging just four extra-base hits. Should he appear in the majors with his new club, Reynolds would likely provide depth in a utility role, as he has experience playing first base, second base, third base, shortstop and the outfield.
Aug 17 2017Reynolds was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas and is starting at third base for Thursday's game against the Yankees, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.Reynolds was summoned back to the big club to take the place of Jose Reyes, who was sent to the DL with a left oblique strain, and the team will waste no time inserting him into the starting lineup. The 26-year-old saw just 49 at-bats during his earlier stints with the Mets this season -- producing a .204/.264/.306 slash line with one homer -- but he should be in line for more consistent opportunities this time around with Reyes and Wilmer Flores (ribs) both dealing with injuries.
Jun 28 2017Reynolds was called up Wednesday prior to New York's game against the Marlins, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.Reynolds has been up-and-down a few times already this season, with the most recent transaction coming a week ago when the 26-year-old was optioned back to Triple-A Las Vegas. During his five-game stint with Las Vegas this past week, Reynolds went 7-for-20 with three home runs and five RBI from the plate. The infielder will supply more depth for the Mets, with Robert Gsellman hitting the disabled list due to a left hamstring strain.
Jun 16 2017Reynolds was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday. The Mets placed both Matt Harvey and Juan Lagares on the DL on Friday, freeing up a pair of spots on the 25-man roster. Those will be filled by Reynolds and Brandon Nimmo, who will also come up from Las Vegas. Reynolds struggled with the Mets earlier this season, going just 4-for-22 at the plate with one home run and one RBI.
May 22 2017Reynolds got the start at shortstop Sunday and went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Angels.Jose Reyes (ribs) was a late scratch as a precaution, and Reynolds took advantage of the opportunity to hit his first homer of the season. Reyes should be back in action Tuesday and Asdrubal Cabrera (thumb) could come off the DL by the weekend, however, so Reynolds may not get another chance to produce before heading back down to Triple-A.
