May 28 2025The Angels designated Anderson for assignment Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The move makes room on the 40-man roster for Scott Kingery, whose contract was selected by the Angels from Triple-A Salt Lake. Anderson saw his playing time diminish in May due to his struggles at the plate, with the two-time All Star slashing .205/.258/.241 with one steal, three RBI and a 32.2 percent strikeout rate across 90 plate appearances this season. Anderson will go on waivers, and while he's had his challenges with the bat this season, his versatility as an infielder could garner interest from teams looking to add depth.
May 7 2025Anderson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson made three straight starts at second base this past weekend, but he's shifted back to a bench role for the Angels' first two games against the Blue Jays after the team welcomed Yoan Moncada back from the injured list. His playing time could be limited moving forward while the quartet of Nolan Schanuel, Luis Rengifo, Zach Neto and Moncada typically makes up the Angels' starting infield against both right- and left-handed pitching.
May 4 2025Anderson will start at second base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson thus far seems to be the primary beneficiary of Mike Trout's (knee) recent move to the injured list. With Trout on the shelf, Kyren Paris has now made three consecutive starts in the outfield, opening up the keystone for Anderson in all three of those contests. The two-time All-Star is still slashing a woeful .179/.220/.196 over 60 plate appearances with the Angels on the season, so despite the recent uptick in playing time, Anderson likely won't warrant much attention outside of AL-only leagues.
Apr 16 2025Anderson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson will give way to Kevin Newman at shortstop after starting at the position in seven of the Halos' previous nine games. Both players will soon see their opportunities in the middle infield dry up, as Zach Neto (shoulder) looks poised to return from the 10-day injured list to make his season debut as soon as Thursday.
Apr 13 2025Anderson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson will hit the bench after he had made six straight starts at either second base or shortstop while going 2-for-19 with two walks, two runs, one RBI and one stolen base. Kyren Paris will likely hold down the fort at second base while Yoan Moncada (thumb) is on the shelf, and Luis Rengifo will shift to third base, but Anderson could still see consistent playing time at shortstop ahead of Kevin Newman and Nicky Lopez.
Apr 6 2025Anderson will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Guardians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After going 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run in Saturday's 10-4 win, Anderson will pick up a second straight start. He may have inched ahead of Kevin Newman in the competition for primary duties at shortstop, though playing time at the position remains fluid.
Mar 27 2025Anderson went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts during Thursday's 8-1 Opening Day loss to the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson got the starting nod at the keystone Opening Day but struck out three times in a game that saw the Angels held without a run until the ninth inning on a Logan O'Hoppe solo homer. Anderson should see a fair amount of starts to begin the year due to Zach Neto (shoulder) starting the season on the 10-day IL, but the former could begin Saturday's game in the dugout if Yoan Moncada (thumb) is cleared to play, which would likely shift Luis Rengifo to second base.
Mar 25 2025The Angels selected Anderson's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Although he only slashed .263/.311/.333 with three RBI and four runs scored across 61 Cactus League plate appearances, Anderson will end up with a spot on the Angels' Opening Day roster. He narrowly outperformed Kevin Newman (.216/.326/.243) this spring, though it's still unclear which player will get the starting nod at shortstop while Zach Neto recovers from a shoulder injury. Angel Perdomo was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
Mar 17 2025Anderson might be the Angels' Opening Day starter at second base due to Yoan Moncada (thumb) being a question mark for the beginning of the season, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Moncada may be destined for the IL due to a thumb injury, which would likely mean that Luis Rengifo will become the starter at the hot corner at the beginning of the campaign. That could open up the second-base job for Anderson, who has been getting some reps at the keystone this spring despite playing only two regular-season games there to this point in his nine years in the big leagues. If the second-base role does become available, Christian Moore and Scott Kingery, among others, could also be candidates for the position, but Anderson has done enough this spring to have his name called, as he's slashing .243/.300/.351 with a home run and two stolen bases over 40 plate appearances.
Mar 5 2025Anderson is starting in center field and batting seventh in Wednesday's Cactus League game versus the Dodgers, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has never played an inning in the outfield in pro ball but is attempting to add to his versatility this spring in an effort to make the Angels' Opening Day roster. The two-time All-Star is also competing for reps at shortstop and second base.
Feb 17 2025Angels manager Ron Washington said Monday that Anderson will see some action in the outfield later this spring, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson's main focus will be competing for time at shortstop, where the Angels will likely need a fill-in for the injured Zach Neto (shoulder) for a bit. However, it appears the 31-year-old will also attempt to add to his versatility with some reps in the outfield. Anderson started two games at second base for the White Sox in 2023, which is the only time he's ever played a position other than shortstop.
Feb 11 2025Anderson will compete to be the Angels' Opening Day shortstop while Zach Neto (shoulder) is sidelined, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's not yet clear how much time Neto might miss, but a stint on the injured list to begin the season is expected. Anderson was inked to a minor-league contract in January and will compete with Kevin Newman, Scott Kingery and Kyren Paris to be the placeholder at shortstop. While Anderson is the only one of the four competitors not on a major-league deal, Bollinger has projected him to win the shortstop gig. That said, given Anderson's woeful .235/.271/.274 batting line over the last two seasons, he will have much to prove this spring before he's handed a roster spot.
Jan 22 2025The Angels signed Anderson to a minor-league contract Wednesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: While Nightengale doesn't denote it, Anderson surely received an invitation to spring training, where he'll attempt to win a spot on the Angels' Opening Day roster. Anderson was released by the Marlins last July after managing just a .214/.237/.226 batting line in 65 games. The former batting champ is just 31 but has slashed only .235/.271/.274 with one home run across 188 contests since the start of the 2023 season. With Zach Neto (shoulder) a question mark for Opening Day, the Angels could be looking for someone to fill in at shortstop for a while. However, whether Anderson has anything left is very much in question.
Jul 2 2024The Marlins designated Anderson for assignment Tuesday, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Miami giving Anderson a modest one-year, $5 million contract in hopes that he could have a bounce-back season seemed like a no-brainer. The rebound didn't come, as Anderson slashed a hideous .214/.237/.226 with no home runs and a 68:7 K:BB over 65 games. He will clear waivers and eventually be released, at which point another club could take a chance on him at the prorated veteran minimum salary. It's no given that Anderson will receive that opportunity, however, considering his .544 OPS since the start of the 2023 campaign. Vidal Brujan could get a shot at shortstop for the Marlins with Anderson out of the picture, with Xavier Edwards also potentially in the mix.
Jun 26 2024Anderson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran shortstop will take a seat Wednesday while the Marlins wrap up their series in Kansas City with a day game after a night game. Vidal Brujan will step in as the Marlins' starting shortstop in Anderson's stead.
Jun 23 2024Anderson isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Sunday's game versus Seattle. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After going 0-for-3 on Saturday to end his brief five-game hitting streak, Anderson will get a breather during Sunday's series finale. Vidal Brujan will fill the opening at shortstop and bat eighth.
Jun 22 2024Anderson went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's extra-inning win over the Mariners. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran shortstop ripped a walk-off single into left field off Austin Voth in the bottom of the 10th inning, although the Marlins got a bit lucky when Cal Raleigh couldn't come up with the throw to the plate, allowing Jake Burger to score. Anderson has been red hot of late, batting .405 (17-for-42) with seven multi-hit performances in the last 10 games, but he still carries a feeble .232/.257/.246 slash line on the season.
Jun 19 2024Anderson went 2-for-5 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 9-8 extra-inning win over the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Since missing a few games earlier this month while on the bereavement list, Anderson has caught fire and is looking more like the player who batted over .300 in four straight seasons for the White Sox. The 30-year-old shortstop has delivered multiple hits in six of the last eight games, ringing up a .412 batting average (14-for-34) over that stretch, although none of those hits went for extra bases. Despite the surge, he sports a poor .226/.252/.241 slash line on the season with four steals, eight RBI and 15 runs in 56 contests. Anderson is still looking for his first homer in a Marlins uniform.
Jun 10 2024The Marlins activated Anderson (personal) from the bereavement list Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson missed the weekend series against the Guardians but will be back in action as the Marlins travel to New York to play the Mets beginning Tuesday. With a .188/.221/.206 slash line, Anderson has been one of the worst-hitting regulars in baseball this season.
Jun 7 2024Anderson was placed on the bereavement list Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson will be away from the team as he tends to personal matters. While he's absent, Vidal Brujan and the recently promoted Xavier Edwards should handle the work at shortstop. Anderson is slashing just .188/.221/.206 in 172 plate appearances this season.
May 29 2024Anderson is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest in San Diego. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson is just 5-for-24 in seven games since returning from the injured list, dragging his season line down to an unsightly .199/.235/.219. Vidal Brujan is at shortstop Wednesday and it wouldn't be a surprise if he begins to see more action at the position if Anderson's struggles continue.
May 21 2024Anderson (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson will be available for Tuesday's game against the Brewers after missing exactly 10 days with back soreness. In two rehab starts, Anderson went 4-for-9 with a two-run home run and four additional runs scored, possibly a sign of encouragement for fantasy managers after Anderson started the MLB season batting .197 with a 29.7 percent strikeout rate.
May 17 2024Anderson (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson will play for Jacksonville on Saturday and Sunday before being reevaluated. He is eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list Tuesday and it would appear he's in line to return at that time, assuming all goes well. Anderson has been battling lower-back tightness.
May 13 2024The Marlins placed Anderson on the 10-day injured list Monday with lower-back tightness. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson had missed the previous two games with the injury and evidently didn't show enough progress to avoid a stint on the IL. Because the move is backdated to Saturday, Anderson will be eligible to return from the IL in just over a week. However, it's unclear whether he'll be ready to rejoin the Miami lineup by then. Vidal Brujan is expected to serve as the Marlins' everyday shortstop while Anderson is on the shelf.
May 12 2024Anderson (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He'll be on the bench for a second straight game and remains day-to-day with lower-back tightness. Vidal Brujan will move over from second base to replace Anderson at shortstop.
May 11 2024Anderson was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Phillies with lower-back tightness, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vidal Brujan will shift to shortstop while Otto Lopez enters the lineup at second base.
May 8 2024Anderson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Dodgers, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson appears to be getting a routine day off while he's accumulated just one hit over his last four games. Vidal Brujan will slide over from second base to replace Anderson at shortstop.
May 2 2024Anderson (thumb) will start at shortstop and bat sixth in Thursday's game versus the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson missed two starts with a mild left thumb sprain, which he suffered during Monday's 7-2 loss to the Nationals. The Marlins were hoping for a bounce-back season from the veteran shortstop following a disastrous 2023 campaign, but Anderson has actually been worse so far in 2024, slashing a mere .221/.267/.253 over 29 games.
May 1 2024Anderson (thumb) has been scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson's sprained left thumb is still a little sore, so he will miss a second straight start. The Marlins are calling Anderson's removal from the lineup precautionary, so consider him day-to-day. Vidal Brujan will fill in again at shortstop Wednesday.
Apr 30 2024Anderson (thumb) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson had to depart Monday's contest due to a mild left thumb sprain. He is considered day-to-day. Vidal Brujan will play shortstop for the Marlins in Anderson's place Tuesday.
Apr 29 2024Anderson suffered a mild left thumb sprain during Monday's game against the Nationals, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson will be considered day-to-day moving forward. Vidal Brujan would be in line for more playing time at shortstop if Anderson needs a few days off to recover.
Apr 15 2024Anderson (illness) will start at shortstop and bat fourth in Monday's game versus the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson missed the previous two contests with an illness, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go Monday. It's the first time this season that he's been up in the cleanup spot for Miami, as Anderson has mostly hit sixth or seventh.
Apr 14 2024Anderson (illness) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It'll be the third straight absence for Anderson due to the illness. Vidal Brujan will receive another start at shortstop in his place for Sunday's series finale versus Atlanta.
Apr 13 2024Anderson (illness) isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson missed Friday's game as a result of an illness, and he is seemingly still under the weather ahead of Saturday's contest. Vidal Brujan will once again start at shortstop and bat ninth while Anderson recovers.
Apr 12 2024Anderson is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta since he's feeling under the weather, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson started at shortstop in Miami's first 13 games of the season, but he'll hit the bench for Friday's series opener since he's not feeling well. Vidal Brujan will take over at shortsop and bat ninth.
Apr 9 2024Anderson went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The hits are starting to come for the 30-year-old shortstop. Anderson has four multi-hit performances in the last seven games, and he's batting .346 (9-for-26) over that stretch. It's a very encouraging sign after his numbers cratered in 2023, but as yet the contact hasn't resulted in much actual production. On the season, only one of Anderson's 13 hits (a double) has gone for extra bases, and he has just one RBI, three runs and two steals in 12 contests.
Apr 5 2024Anderson went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's 8-5 loss to St. Louis. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson led off the sixth inning with a single before stealing his first bag of the year. He'd advance to third on a groundout before scoring on a Matthew Liberatore wild pitch. Anderson has gotten off to a decent start in Miami, going 8-for-30 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI. The veteran shortstop is looking to bounce back from a rough 2023 campaign with the White Sox in which he slashed .245/.286/.296 with just one home run and 13 steals over 123 games.
Mar 12 2024Anderson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Getting the start at shortstop and batting fifth, Anderson drove the first pitch he saw in the second inning from Tylor Megill the other way for his first long ball of the spring. The former White Sox saw his tenure in Chicago end with a whimper last season due in part to knee trouble, but the Marlins are hoping Anderson can re-discover the form that saw him win an American League batting title in 2019 when he slashed .335/.357/.508. Through seven Grapefruit League contests with Miami, the 30-year-old has gone 4-for-19 with a 0:6 BB:K.
Mar 1 2024Anderson went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Yankeees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Getting the start at shortstop and batting second behind Luis Arraez and ahead of Jazz Chisholm, Anderson didn't make an impact with his bat but looked healthy on defense, going deep in the hole to field a grounder in the second inning before firing the ball across the diamond to get the out at first base. The 30-year-old is coming off the worst season of his MLB career, but a knee injury that bothered him most of the year might have been the primary culprit for his decline. If Anderson is fully healthy in 2024, he could prove to be a draft-day steal for fantasy GMs, and a bargain for Miami on his one-year, $5 million contract.
Feb 28 2024Anderson could make his Grapefruit League debut either Thursday or Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson officially signed with the Marlins less than a week ago and has been working out with the club as he gets back up to speed. The shortstop has said the left knee injury that plagued him last season is behind him, and he will have plenty of time to get ready for Opening Day.
Feb 25 2024Anderson indicated Saturday that the MCL sprain in his left knee that he played through for most of 2023 is no longer an issue, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: "[The injury] took a toll," Anderson said prior to Saturday's Grapefruit League game. "You're talking about the front side of an MCL sprain. I had nothing to hit up against. It led to a lot of ground balls. No excuses. I kept working. I feel good today. I feel healthy, and I'm ready to go, and I'm excited." The 30-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Marlins this week to be the team's starting shortstop, and while injuries are part of the package with Anderson -- he hasn't played more than 123 games in a season since 2018 -- if he is healthy again, he could rediscover the form that saw him slash .318/.347/.473 for the White Sox between 2019 and 2022. His running should provide the first clue whether Anderson is all the way back. After recording a sprint speed of greater than 28.0 feet per second every year of his career through 2022, ranking in the 78th percentile or greater each season, his speed plummeted to 27.2 ft/s, and a 46th percentile ranking, in 2023.
Feb 22 2024Anderson agreed to a one-year, $5 million contract with the Marlins on Thursday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The fit is sensible, as the Marlins desperately needed a shortstop and Anderson was in need of a starting opportunity which he hopes will allow him to show his dreadful 2023 season was an aberration. Prior to delivering a disastrous .245/.286/.296 slash line last year, Anderson had slashed .318/.347/.474 over his prior four campaigns. The 30-year-old will settle in as Miami's everyday shortstop, pushing Jon Berti back to a utility role.
Feb 21 2024The Marlins have offered Anderson a contract to be their primary shortstop this season, a source tells Jon Morosi of MLB Network. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: One of the more notable unsigned free agents, Anderson has faced a cool market this winter, coming off a dismal 2023 campaign with the White Sox in which he turned in a lowly .582 OPS over 123 games. The 30-year-old shortstop is a two-time All-Star and had compiled a .288/.316/.442 slash line over his preceding seven years in the big leagues, but he may have to settle for a one-year, prove-it deal in free agency as he looks to boost his value back up on the heels of the rough season. Miami would seemingly represent a favorable rebound spot for Anderson, who wouldn't face much competition for the everyday gig at shortstop with Jon Berti -- a utility player for most of his career -- representing the top challenger at the moment. However, after serving as the White Sox's leadoff hitter for much of his tenure in Chicago, Anderson might have to settle for a spot lower in the order if he joins the Marlins, who will be bringing back reigning NL batting champion Luis Arraez as their presumptive table setter in 2024.
Nov 15 2023Anderson is open to playing either shortstop or second base with his new team, Russell Dorsey of Stadium reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson's defensive metrics at shortstop were good through 2021, but they've regressed there the last two seasons, and it's possible the club he signs with in free agency would prefer to shift him to the other side of the diamond. He played two games at second base for the White Sox this season and they kicked around the idea of moving him there full time before ultimately deciding against picking up his option for 2024. The 30-year-old was also used some at the keystone during the World Baseball Classic. Regardless of where he plays defensively, Anderson's bigger task next season will be to rebound at the plate after he posted a woeful .582 OPS across 524 plate appearances in 2023.
Nov 4 2023The White Sox declined Anderson's $14 million option for 2024 on Saturday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After putting up just a .582 OPS across 524 plate appearances, Anderson will receive a $1 million buyout and enter free agency for the first time in his career. Although his production at the plate fell sharply in 2023, Anderson should still draw a good amount of attention this offseason from teams hoping the 30-year-old shortstop can return to form.
Oct 1 2023Anderson is not in Sunday's lineup against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Elvis Andrus gets the nod at shortstop with Zach Remillard getting a start at the keystone. The White Sox have a $12.5 million club option on Anderson for next season, but considering he was below replacement level (-0.6 fWAR) in 123 games this year, he will likely hit the open market.
Sep 27 2023Anderson is not in the lineup Wednesday versus the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson is in the midst of a slump, having gone 1-for-12 in his last three games. The shortstop did not play Sunday after going 0-for-8 in the prior two games. Elvis Andrus will shift to shortstop while Zach Remillard receives a start at second base.
Sep 24 2023Anderson is not in the lineup for Sunday's game at Boston. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson is 0-for-8 with four strikeouts over the past two games and will head to the bench Sunday after making five consecutive starts. Elvis Andrus will shift to shortstop while Zach Remillard receives a start at second base.
Sep 19 2023Anderson went 4-for-5 with a run scored Monday against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson is in the midst of a five-game hitting streak, with his last two performances being multi-hit efforts. Despite a down year, he is closing the season well, as he's maintained a .333 average with eight runs scored and a stolen bases across 16 games in September. However, as has been the case, he's shown very little ability to hit for power, as he has only two extra-base hits -- both doubles -- in that same 16-game span.
Sep 17 2023Anderson is not in the White Sox's lineup Sunday versus the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was omitted from the lineup for the second time in the week. However, when he was on the bench Sept 12, it was the second game of a doubleheader. Elvis Andrus will start at short and bat leadoff in the 30-year-old's place.
Sep 12 2023Anderson isn't in the White Sox's lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Royals, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.comreports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After a 2-for-3 performance in Game 1, Anderson will get a breather to close out Tuesday's twin bill. Zach Remillard will replace Anderson at shortstop and bat ninth.
Sep 8 2023Anderson (neck) is starting at shortstop and batting in the leadoff spot Friday against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Neck stiffness caused Anderson to be a late scratch from Wednesday's lineup, but the issue seems to have subsided after an extra day of rest. The 30-year-old shortstop is 4-for-18 with three runs scored since the start of September.
Sep 6 2023Anderson was scratched from the lineup Wednesday versus the Royals due to neck stiffness, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Elvis Andrus will replace him at both shortstop and leadoff as the White Sox wrap up their three-game series against Kansas City. Anderson also battled some neck discomfort in mid-August but it only cost him two games and can maybe utilize Thursday's scheduled team off day to avoid another multi-game absence.
Aug 31 2023Anderson went 1-for-6 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored Wednesday against the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has started eight games since returning from suspension, and he has struck out a 39.5 percent clip in that span. Though he hasn't homered, he has balanced his lack of contact with five extra-base hits and has also scored five runs. It remains a disappointing campaign for Anderson, though as the White Sox's leadoff hitter, he could be a source of stolen bases and runs scored across the final month of the season.
Aug 23 2023Anderson went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored Wednesday against the Mariners. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson returned from a five-game suspension and immediately slotted back into the leadoff spot. His power production remains disappointing, though he's maintained a .287 batting average with 10 runs scored, nine RBI and two stolen bases across 27 contests since the All-Star break.
Aug 17 2023Anderson's suspension was reduced to five games Thursday, and he will begin serving the ban Friday in Colorado, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With the suspension for participating in the Aug. 5 brawl with the Guardians going into effect Friday, the shortstop will miss the series in Colorado and the first two games in Seattle early next week. He will return from the suspension Aug. 23, the rubber match of the series against the Mariners. Anderson's suspension was reduced from six games after he settled with the league before an appeal hearing was needed.
Aug 16 2023Anderson (neck) is back in the lineup Wednesday against the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson will start at shortstop and bat leadoff versus the Cubs and right-hander Javier Assad after being scratched Tuesday due to neck stiffness. He also missed some time last week because of a forearm bruise, and the appeal on his pending six-game suspension is scheduled to be heard Thursday, so he'll likely soon be in for another absence.
Aug 15 2023Anderson was scratched from the White Sox's lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Cubs due to neck stiffness, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson had previously missed two games last week due to a bruised forearm, and he will now sit out Tuesday's contest as a result of another injury. Elvis Andrus will take over at shortstop, allowing Zach Remillard to enter the lineup at second base. Anderson should be considered day-to-day going forward.
Aug 13 2023Anderson isn't in the White Sox's lineup Sunday against Milwaukee. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson is slashing just .188/.278/.219 since the beginning of August, so he'll get a day off for Sunday's series finale. Elvis Andrus will shift to shortstop in Anderson's absence, allowing Zach Remillard to start at second base and bat ninth.
Aug 9 2023Anderson (forearm) will bat leadoff and start at shortstop in Wednesday's game against the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After he was hit by a pitch in the left forearm in Monday's 5-1 win, Anderson ended up sitting out Tuesday's 7-1 loss. The shortstop didn't sustain any broken bones and was fortunate to escape with a bruise to the forearm, but the day off was apparently all he needed to overcome the issue. Anderson will slot back in atop the lineup for the series finale, but he could still have some more time off coming soon. After throwing punches at Cleveland's Jose Ramirez this past Saturday, Anderson was handed a six-game suspension Monday and is currently appealing the ban. It's unclear when his appeal will be heard.
Aug 8 2023Anderson (forearm) is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson took a pitch to the left forearm in Monday's series opener against New York, but X-rays came back negative and he is considered day-to-day with a contusion. Elvis Andrus will cover shortstop and bat leadoff for the White Sox on Tuesday night.
Aug 7 2023Anderson was removed from Monday's game against the Yankees due to a bruised left forearm. He's considered day-to-day after X-rays came back negative. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was hit by a pitch in the third inning and managed to remain in the game for his next at-bat, but he was ultimately pulled in the eighth. The White Sox figure to re-evaluate the shortstop Tuesday to determine his availability going forward. Anderson is also facing a suspension for his role in a fight with Cleveland's Jose Ramirez on Saturday, which is currently under appeal.
Aug 6 2023Anderson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Though Anderson will hit the bench for the series finale in what appears to be a routine rest day, Major League Baseball has yet to announce any suspension for the shortstop, who was ejected in the sixth inning of Saturday's 7-4 win after exchanging punches with Cleveland third baseman Jose Ramirez. Expect MLB to rule in the coming days whether any players involved in the brawl will face a suspension, leaving Anderson's availability for the White Sox's upcoming six-game week in flux.
Aug 5 2023Anderson was ejected from Saturday's game against the Guardians for his actions in a brawl during the seventh inning. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson and Cleveland's Jose Ramirez exchanged blows after the latter slid into second base in the seventh frame, and neither was permitted to continue in the contest. MLB will review the matter, and suspensions could be in the cards.
Aug 1 2023Anderson went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to Texas. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson is finally showing signs of life after a sluggish first half. The 30-year-old shortstop is slashing .338/.394/.415 in 16 games since the All-Star break, with eight multi-hit efforts and two steals during that stretch.
Jul 30 2023Anderson went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Guardians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He hadn't gone yard in over a calendar year, but Anderson ended the drought by driving a Logan Allen fastball deep to left field in the first inning. The shortstop appears to be on the trade block with the deadline approaching, so he's picked the right time to catch fire at the plate -- since the All-Star break, Anderson's slashing .351/.413/.439, a far cry from his .245/.286/.293 line on the season.
Jul 22 2023Anderson went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson opened the scoring when he stole home in the third inning, which came as part of a double steal that saw Luis Robert swipe second base. Over the last six games, Anderson's bat has come to life a bit -- he has four multi-hit efforts and three RBI in that span. The shortstop is up to 10 thefts on the year, his seventh straight full-length season with double-digit steals. He's added a lackluster .239/.279/.278 slash line with no home runs, 16 RBI, 33 runs scored, 10 doubles and a triple, though his recent hitting suggests he may be turning things around in the second half.
Jul 19 2023Anderson went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI on Tuesday against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has multiple hits in three of his last four starts and has maintained a .258 average across his last 62 at-bats. He has still yet to homer and has a particularly poor .041 ISO on the season, though it's encouraging to see him at least reaching base at a more consistent clip of late. Anderson consistently hits second in the order, so he could be a source of runs in the final months of the season.
Jul 3 2023Anderson went 2-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base Sunday against the Athletics. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson tallied his second multi-hit effort in his last four starts, though he's still hitting just .172 across his last 22 games. He's stolen only three bases and scored seven runs in that span, providing little fantasy appeal. Anderson has also still yet to go yard and has an abysmal .036 ISO across 263 plate appearances on the campaign.
Jun 25 2023Anderson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 30-year-old started the past two days at second base after missing five games with a shoulder injury, and he's back out of the starting nine Sunday. There's been no report that Anderson aggravated the injury, so it may just be an extra maintenance day amid a 2-for-30 slump. Elvis Andrus will receive another start at shortstop while Zach Remillard mans the keystone.
Jun 24 2023Anderson is starting at second base and hitting second Saturday against the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was absent from the lineup for five days while battling a shoulder injury. He returned Friday and played second base, and he'll do so again Saturday. Elvis Andrus will bat ninth and play Anderson's typical role at shortstop.
Jun 23 2023Anderson (shoulder) went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was out of action for a week with a sore shoulder, but he was able to return and play a full game at second base. While the soreness isn't fully gone, it appears he may be able to tough it out now. He's struggled of late, going just 2-for-26 (.077) over his last eight contests. It's unclear if Anderson will log enough time at second base to earn eligibility there in fantasy before returning to his usual position at shortstop.
Jun 21 2023Anderson (shoulder) is absent from the lineup again Wednesday versus the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson came off the bench for a pinch-hitting appearance Tuesday, but he'll miss a fourth straight start as he recovers from a bout of right shoulder soreness. Elvis Andrus is playing shortstop for the White Sox and Zach Remillard will handle second base.
Jun 20 2023Anderson (shoulder) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's the third straight start Anderson has missed due to right shoulder soreness. He's considered day-to-day and it's possible he'll be ready to play Wednesday, but with an off day Thursday, it might make sense for the White Sox to go ahead and hold him out until Friday. Elvis Andrus will again handle shortstop Tuesday while Zach Remillard takes over at second base.
Jun 19 2023White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Monday that "reports are good" on Anderson (shoulder) and he remains day-to-day, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson is missing a second straight start Monday due to right shoulder soreness. However, it sounds like he has a pretty good chance to avoid the injured list. "He's actually OK," Grifol said. "He's day to day, reports were good. He's still a little sore. So I'll check with him after the game, after the round of treatments, see what we'll do tomorrow. Reports are good and he's day to day. It's not too bad."
Jun 18 2023Anderson (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup versus Seattle on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was removed early against the Mariners on Saturday with soreness in his right shoulder, and while White Sox manager Pedro Grifol was somewhat optimistic Anderson could play Sunday, the shortstop will not be able to go for the series finale. Elvis Andrus gets the start at shortstop and will bat ninth, while Zach Remillard will get the start at second base and hit second.
Jun 17 2023White Sox manager Pedro Grifol told reporters that Anderson (shoulder) has a chance to return to the lineup for Sunday's contest versus the Mariners, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: "Tim, his shoulder got a little sore, I think he did it pregame out there stretching, throwing and he toughed it out for three innings," Grifol said. "It's cold out here. He toughed it out and the evaluations were good. He's day to day and we'll see how he wakes up tomorrow." Anderson exited the contest with shoulder soreness in the fourth inning, and while the White Sox will take the necessary precautions with the infielder, it does sound like he's avoided a serious injury.
Jun 16 2023Anderson went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Mariners. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has struggled a bit at the plate in June, going 10-for-47 (.213) over 11 contests. He's posted just two extra-base hits, both doubles, along with two steals, one RBI and two runs scored for the month. The shortstop is slashing .251/.289/.295 with no home runs, 10 RBI, 21 runs scored, eight steals and nine doubles through 50 games, and his struggles at the plate have yet to cost him the leadoff spot in the order.
Jun 11 2023Anderson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus Miami. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson gets a breather after going 2-for-9 with a double in the first two games of the series against Miami, and the veteran shortstop has registered just a .624 OPS over his 30 at-bats in June. Elvis Andrus gets the start at shortstop and will hit ninth while Anderson rests.
Jun 10 2023Anderson went 2-for-5 with a double and a stolen base Friday against the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has hit well across his last 15 starts by maintaining a .313 average, though he also has only four RBI and seven runs scored in that span to show for it. He chipped in his seventh stolen base of the season Friday, and his first in his last 19 games. Anderson has still yet to homer this season, and he also has only 10 RBI across 44 games.
Jun 8 2023Anderson isn't in the White Sox's lineup for Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson went 1-for-5 at the plate in Game 1 and will get a rare break during the nightcap. Elvis Andrus will take Anderson's spot at shortstop and bat ninth.
Jun 3 2023Anderson went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored Friday against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson tallied a single and a double to reach base multiple times for the fourth time in his last seven games. In that span, he's maintained a .419 on-base percentage with six runs and three doubles. Anderson is still performing poorly overall this season with a .623 OPS, but he is locked in as the White Sox's leadoff hitter and should provide reliable contributions in runs scored and stolen bases.
May 27 2023Anderson went 4-for-5 with one RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 12-3 victory over Detroit. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson notched his second four-hit outing of the season and extended his hitting steak to four games. However, the veteran is still hitting just .264 across 34 games to start the year, well below the baseline over .300 he established each of the past four years. Even worse, Anderson hasn't hit a home run this season and has a lower SLG (.300) than OBP (.304).
May 24 2023Anderson went 1-for-4 with an RBI on Wednesday against the Guardians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson delivered his lone hit in the third inning, which drove in Clint Frazier. That was only his third RBI across 21 games since he returned from a knee injury May 2. Anderson has been a significant disappointment overall this season as he has yet to homer across 138 plate appearances, though he's salvaged some fantasy value by swiping six bags.
May 21 2023Anderson is out of the starting lineup against the Royals on Sunday, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's a day of rest for Anderson after the shortstop went hitless in the first two games of the series against Kansas City. Romy Gonzalez will hit ninth and line up at shortstop for Sunday's finale against the Royals.
May 17 2023Anderson went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Guardians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has hit safely in eight of his last 10 games, going 11-for-44 (.250) with no extra-base hits in that span. The RBI was his first since May 3, and his last steal came April 8, before he spent three weeks on the injured list. The shortstop is slashing .264/.304/.311 with six steals, six RBI, 13 runs scored, no home runs and five doubles through 25 contests.
May 9 2023Anderson is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Kansas City. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It would appear to be a regular day of rest for the star shortstop. Elvis Andrus will shift over to short Tuesday and Lenyn Sosa will get a start at second base.
May 4 2023Anderson is absent from the White Sox's lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson had three hits Wednesday, but the team just wants to ease him back into things after he returned from a knee injury earlier this week. Elvis Andrus will play shortstop and Lenyn Sosa will handle second base.
May 3 2023Anderson went 0-for-4 with a walk Tuesday against the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was in the lineup for the first time since April 10 after being sidelined with a knee issue. He immediately returned to the top of the order and reached base in the bottom of the sixth inning on a free pass. Anderson has a very limited sample in the new campaign, though he did show significant aggression on the basepaths with five stolen bases in his first 11 games.
May 2 2023Anderson (knee) was activated from the 10-day injured list by the White Sox on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson wound up missing three weeks of action with a sprained left knee. The star shortstop was hitting .298/.327/.404 with five steals before getting hurt and will be tasked with injecting some life into a struggling White Sox club.
Apr 30 2023Manager Pedro Grifol said Anderson (knee) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 29-year-old has been on the shelf just under three weeks with a knee sprain, and he'll rejoin the White Sox on Tuesday after a brief rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte this weekend. Anderson will reclaim the starting job at shortstop once activated, pushing Elvis Andrus back to the keystone and Lenyn Sosa out of a regular role.
Apr 28 2023Anderson (knee) is on track to be activated from the injured list early next week, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson is set to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Friday and will remain there through the weekend. Assuming all goes well, he should be activated Tuesday versus the Twins following Monday's off day. Anderson has been out since April 10 with a sprained left knee.
Apr 27 2023Anderson (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson got through another workout Thursday without any problems, clearing the way for the start of his rehab assignment. White Sox manager Pedro Grifol is on record as saying Anderson likely needs 10-15 rehab at-bats, so the shortstop could stay with Charlotte through the weekend before returning Tuesday versus the Twins if all goes well.
Apr 5 2023Anderson was ejected from Wednesday's game against the Giants for arguing with the home plate umpire. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson felt like he got quick-pitched by Logan Webb as he attempted to call time on what was ultimately a strikeout in the bottom of the third inning. He finished the day 0-for-2. Elvis Andrus slid over to shortstop in the top of the fourth, with Hanser Alberto entering the game at second base.
Apr 1 2023Anderson went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base Saturday against the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has collected two hits in all three games this season, and he has also scored a run in each contest as well. Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the first series of the campaign is Anderson's aggressiveness on the bases, as his stolen base in the fourth frame of Saturday's game was already his second of the campaign.
Mar 31 2023Anderson went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's loss to the Astros. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The star shortstop scored on Eloy Jimenez's first-inning double after walking and swiping second base. Anderson has collected four hits while reaching base in six of his 10 plate appearances through two games. He's off to a strong start in his quest for a fifth consecutive season with a batting average over .300.
Mar 16 2023Anderson visited Driveline immediately before spring training to work on his swing, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson got off to a scorching start in 2022 but faltered to only a .259 average and .257 wOBA across the second half of the season. That dip in production was at least in part due to a groin injury that prevented him being comfortable at the plate, though Anderson is confident he regained his form this offseason. Encouragingly, Anderson has hit well with Team USA at the World Baseball Classic, maintaining a .364 average with two extra-base hits and a stolen base.
Nov 6 2022The White Sox exercised Anderson's (hand) $12.5 million team option for 2023 on Sunday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Even though Anderson was limited to just 79 games in 2022 due to a pair of trips to the injured list, the two-time All-Star is still viewed as a core piece for the White Sox. The team's decision to keep him aboard for 2023 thus comes as no surprise, and barring a dramatic downturn in performance, Anderson will most likely stick around with Chicago through the 2024 season, when he can be brought back on a cost-effective $14 million team option. Since the start of the 2019 campaign, Anderson's .309 batting average ranks third in the majors among players with at least 1,000 plate appearances.
Sep 27 2022The White Sox are shutting down Anderson (hand) for the rest of the season, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has been making steady progress in his recovery from surgery on his left hand, but with the White Sox out of the playoff picture, there's no point in forcing the issue. Elvis Andrus will continue to get starting reps at shortstop for the rest of the year.
Sep 20 2022Anderson (hand) could return to the White Sox's lineup sometime this week, Scot Gregor of the Chicago Daily Herald reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With the minor-league season coming to a close in the coming days, a rehab assignment doesn't make much sense for Anderson, so he might make a direct return to action at the big-league level despite missing six weeks already. In the meantime, Elvis Andrus will continue manning shortstop.
Sep 16 2022Anderson (hand) said he has started swinging and fielding grounders, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson also said that he doesn't know when exactly he will return or whether or not he'll need to rehab in the minors. His main concern seems to be returning to full strength so he can be of use when he does return.
Sep 13 2022Anderson (hand) is resuming baseball activities Tuesday and could return at some point during next week's homestand if all goes well, according to general manager Rick Hahn, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Hahn said it will depend how Anderson's ramp up goes, regarding when he could be activated. The White Sox have a homestand that runs from Sept. 20 through Sept. 25. Anderson has been out since Aug. 6 after undergoing left hand surgery.
Sep 11 2022Anderson is scheduled to meet with a hand specialist Tuesday, at which point the White Sox could have a better sense of if or when he'll return this season, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson underwent surgery on his left hand Aug. 11 and is now four weeks into what was expected to be a six-week recovery period. His upcoming meeting with a specialist should determine whether that six-week timeline remains in place, and if Anderson receives a positive evaluation, he could be cleared to resume light baseball activities. Elvis Andrus has taken over as the White Sox's everyday shortstop while Anderson has been on the mend from surgery.
Aug 9 2022Anderson (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list after Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader at Kansas City and is scheduled to undergo surgery Thursday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 29-year-old sat out the matinee while serving the second and final game of his suspension, but he was diagnosed with a sagittal band tear on the middle finger of his left hand and is expected to miss the next six weeks while recovering from the procedure. Anderson sustained the injury during Saturday's game against the Rangers on a check swing, and the tear is causing a dislocation of the exterior tendon of his finger. Leury Garcia and prospect Lenyn Sosa, who was promoted from Triple-A Charlotte over the weekend, are the primary options to fill in at shortstop for the White Sox.
Aug 7 2022Anderson had his three-game suspension reduced to two Sunday following a successful appeal, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. He'll begin serving the ban in Sunday's game in Texas. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has now been suspended on three different occasions this season. He missed the first two games of the 2022 campaign stemming from an altercation with an umpire last September, and he drew a one-game in late April for an obscene gesture, but the ban was later lifted and a fine was imposed instead. Anderson was able to get his latest suspension reduced, but he'll still be forced to miss Sunday's series finale as well as the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader in Kansas City after making contact with an umpire in a July 30 game against the Athletics. The White Sox recalled Lenyn Sosa from Triple-A Charlotte earlier Sunday to provide depth in the middle infield while Anderson serves his two-game suspension.
Jul 30 2022Anderson is appealing a three-game suspension for making contact with the home plate umpire during Friday's game against the Athletics, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 29-year-old was ejected from Friday's matchup after exchanging words with the home plate umpire, and his helmet made contact with the umpire's head. Anderson will be available while appealing his suspension, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him miss at least a few games in the near future since he was also suspended for a similar incident in 2021.
Jul 23 2022Anderson isn't starting the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Guardians, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was replaced by a pinch hitter late in Friday's 8-2 loss to Cleveland, but his absence from the lineup for Saturday's matinee is simply to give him a chance to rest since he had a busy schedule during the All-Star break. Leury Garcia is taking over at shortstop and batting eighth.
Jul 15 2022Anderson went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored Friday against the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson took Emilio Pagan yard in the fourth inning to record his sixth homer of the season. Entering the game, Anderson had failed to homer in 27 consecutive starts and has just a .109 ISO on the season. Despite the lack of power, Anderson has found other ways to be productive, particularly by hitting .313, scoring 42 runs and swiping 11 bags across 282 plate appearances for the campaign.
Jul 12 2022Anderson went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base Monday against the Guardians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson extended his hitting streak to a modest four games with a single in the third inning. He then swiped second base -- his 11th of the season -- and came around to score on a three-run home run by Yoan Moncada. Anderson has hit only .237 across 18 games since returning from a groin injury June 20, though he still has 13 runs scored and three stolen bases in that span.
Jul 10 2022Anderson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson is off to a slow start in July with a .518 OPS through nine games, though he has perked up over the past few days by going 5-for-13 with a double, an RBI and three runs. Leury Garcia will shift to shortstop while Yoan Moncada takes over leadoff duties Sunday. The White Sox will close out the final week before the All-Star break with an eight-game slate, but fantasy managers shouldn't count on Anderson starting in more than seven of those contests. According to Scott Merkin of MLB.com, manager Tony La Russa said Anderson isn't expected to play both ends of Tuesday's doubleheader in Cleveland, and if he does, the shortstop would be scheduled to sit out Wednesday's series finale.
Jul 8 2022Anderson went 1-for-4 with a run scored Thursday against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson started a ninth-inning rally for the White Sox with a one-out single before coming around to score. He's hit .205 with one extra-base hit across his last 10 games, though he's still scored seven runs and swiped two bags in that span. Even with the slow stretch, Anderson has maintained an excellent .313 average across 244 plate appearances on the season.
Jun 28 2022Anderson went 3-for-6 with a run scored in Tuesday's 11-4 win over the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson did well in a table-setting role, but a hitless performance from Andrew Vaughn in the No. 2 spot limited the leadoff hitter's involvement in run production. This was Anderson's 10th three-hit game of the year. He's batting an excellent .344/.382/.467 with five home runs, 19 RBI, 29 runs scored, 10 stolen bases and nine doubles through 207 plate appearances. A career-best 11.6 percent strikeout rate has amplified his steady contact skills, while his counting stats are lagging due to a groin injury that cost him three weeks.
Jun 25 2022Anderson isn't starting Saturday against the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson started in four of the last five games and went 5-for-19 with three runs, a walk and three strikeouts during that time. However, he'll get a breather Saturday while Leury Garcia shifts to shortstop with Lenyn Sosa starting at the keystone.
Jun 22 2022Anderson is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson will get a breather after he went 4-for-10 with three runs scored in his first two games back following a groin injury. Danny Mendick will take over at shortstop and bat leadoff Wednesday.
Jun 21 2022Anderson went 2-for-5 with a run scored Monday against the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was activated from the injured list Monday and immediately returned to his customary role as the White Sox's leadoff hitter. He singled in his first plate appearance and also came around to score, showing little rust. Anderson has been excellent this season, maintaining a .357/.393/.500 line with five home runs and eight stolen bases across 41 games.
Jun 20 2022Anderson (groin) was activated off the injured list Monday and will lead off and play shortstop against the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was given a three-week timetable when he hit the injured list with a strained right groin at the end of May, and he'll be back right on schedule after going 5-for-15 across four rehab games. He was having an excellent season prior to his injury, hitting .356/.393/.503 with five homers and eight steals in 40 games, so the White Sox will be counting on him to kickstart a stalled season. Yoan Moncada (hamstring) hit the injured list in a corresponding move.
Jun 17 2022Anderson (groin) is expected to return Monday against the Blue Jays, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has already missed nearly three weeks with a strained right groin, but it looks as though he'll only miss two more days. That fits with reports from earlier this week, which indicated that he could return for the start of the team's upcoming homestand. He's already gone 4-for-11 through three rehab games and will presumably make only one or two more appearances before returning to the active roster.
Jun 14 2022Anderson (groin), who begins his rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Charlotte, should rejoin the White Sox at some point during the upcoming homestand, which begins June 20, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old will serve as the designated hitter during his first rehab game Tuesday before moving out to shortstop Wednesday. Manager Tony La Russa said he hoped Anderson would be sidelined only three weeks after Anderson went down with a strained groin at the end of April, and a return next week would be in line with that initial timeline. Danny Mendick has started the past 10 games at shortstop and should continue to see the bulk of the playing time there until Anderson rejoins the active roster.
Jun 12 2022Anderson (groin) will start his rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Charlotte, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The White Sox are losing ground in the AL Central, so getting Anderson back as soon as possible is a priority. With that in mind, he could be activated sometime next week if the rehab assignment goes well.
Jun 7 2022Manager Tony La Russa said Tuesday that he hopes Anderson (groin) will be able to begin a rehab assignment next week, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson landed on the 10-day injured list May 31 and had an initial return timetable of approximately three weeks. The 28-year-old seems to be on track in his recovery, as he'd have time to appear in several rehab games next week if he's ultimately cleared to report to a minor-league affiliate. Danny Mendick and Leury Garcia should continue to see additional playing time at shortstop until Anderson returns from the injured list.
May 31 2022Manager Tony La Russa said Tuesday he hopes Anderson (groin) will return from the 10-day injured list in three weeks, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old landed on the shelf with a strained right groin earlier Tuesday, and the White Sox don't expected him back for at least a couple weeks. Anderson could require a minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining the active roster, though his outlook isn't likely to receive much clarity until he resumes ramping up baseball activities.
May 29 2022Anderson (groin) will require a trip to the injured list, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson sustained a right groin strain while fielding a grounder up the middle during Sunday's win over the Cubs, and he had to be helped off the field. While manager Tony La Russa doesn't yet know the severity of the 28-year-old's injury, La Russa said that the shortstop will "for sure" require a trip to the injured list. Leury Garcia and Danny Mendick should see additional playing time at shortstop while Anderson is sidelined.
May 27 2022Anderson went 3-for-5 with a run scored Thursday against Boston. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has hit .419 across his last 18 starts, highlighted by 11 multi-hit performances. May 25 2022Anderson went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI on Tuesday against Boston. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was one of the few bright spots for the White Sox in a blowout loss. He doubled to lead off the fourth frame and came around to score on a Jose Abreu home run. One inning later, he delivered an RBI knock of his own. Since May 1, Anderson has notched 11 multi-hit performances across 19 starts. In that span, he has maintained a .407 average with 12 RBI, 12 runs scored and four stolen bases.
May 23 2022Anderson went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in a 5-0 victory over the Yankees on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson smacked a three-run home run with two outs off Miguel Castro to cap the scoring in Chicago's five-run eighth inning. After being a late scratch (undisclosed) from Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader, Anderson returned to the lineup and led off for Game 2. It was his fourth straight multi-hit game and the sixth time in May that he's had three hits. For the month, he's slashed an impressive .397/.454/.513.
May 22 2022Anderson (undisclosed) is starting the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Yankees. Over his last three games, he's gone 7-for-12 with three RBI, two runs, two stolen bases and three walks.
May 19 2022Anderson went 2-for-3 with two walks, two RBI, two stolen bases and a run scored Thursday against the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson reached base on a walk in the second inning and proceeded to steal both second and third base. One frame later, he delivered a two-RBI single. Anderson continues to swing a hot bat, as he has tallied multiple hits in seven of his last 12 starts while also racking up five RBI and six runs scored. For the season, Anderson has maintained a .346/.386/.493 line to go along with four homers and seven stolen bases across 145 plate appearances.
May 17 2022Anderson is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Royals, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson went 0-for-4 with a run and a strikeout during the matinee and will take a seat for Game 2 of the twin bill. Leury Garcia will shift to shortstop while Josh Harrison starts at the keystone.
May 10 2022Anderson went 3-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and two RBI in a 4-1 win Tuesday over Cleveland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson plated the first run of the game with a single in the fifth and added an RBI on his seventh-inning double. It was his fifth stolen base of the season and second in his last three contests. The shortstop has eight multi-hit games in his last 13 appearances, slashing .379/.419/.586 in that span.
May 8 2022Anderson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Danny Mendick gets the start at shortstop in place of Anderson, who appears to getting some routine maintenance after he was included in the lineup in each of Chicago's last 15 games. With a pair of multi-hit efforts in the first two games of the series in Boston, Anderson is now sitting on a .337 average for the season.
May 6 2022Anderson went 3-for-5 with a run scored Friday against Boston. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson didn't do much damage with his three knocks, but he now has six multi-hit performances in his last 11 starts. He's collected three home runs, four RBI and 11 runs scored in that span. Overall, Anderson has maintained an excellent .330 average while striking out at just an 11 percent clip across 91 plate appearances to begin the campaign.
May 3 2022Anderson went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a hit-by-pitch in a 3-1 win Tuesday over the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson hit a solo shot to lead off the third inning and put the White Sox up 3-0. Over the last five games, he is 9-for-20 with two homers and no strikeouts. With a .329/.354/.544 batting line through the first 20 games, the 28-year-old is putting up very similar numbers to his .322/.349/.495 production over the previous three seasons.
May 1 2022Anderson went 3-for-5 with a run scored and one RBI in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson knocked an RBI single and came around to score during the White Sox's five-run ninth inning, but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback. The star shortstop is 11-for-29 (.379) with five multi-hit games over his last seven appearances. He's now batting .333 with 12 runs scored through 72 at-bats on the year.
Apr 24 2022Anderson went 2-for-5 with a solo homer, a stolen base and two runs scored in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson drilled a leadoff homer on the first pitch of the game to put the White Sox on top in the first inning; it was his first long ball since April 13. The star shortstop then singled and stole second in the third. He improved his slash line to .313/.327/.521 with six extra-base hits and three steals through 49 plate appearances.
Apr 22 2022Anderson, who is batting leadoff Friday at Minnesota, is appealing the one-game suspension he received for making an obscene gesture toward fans Wednesday in Cleveland, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old will remain in the lineup Friday since he's appealing the suspension, and he's batting leadoff with Luis Robert (groin) set to sit out this weekend. Anderson has a .333/.351/.528 slash line with one home run, four doubles, five RBI, four runs and two stolen bases through nine games this season.
Apr 20 2022Anderson isn't starting the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Guardians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was a bright spot in the lineup during Wednesday's matinee, going 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a strikeout. Danny Mendick will take over at shortstop and bat ninth.
Apr 18 2022Anderson went 0-for-3 with a walk Sunday against the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson reached base for the only time in the fifth inning on a walk, and he proceeded to steal his second bag of the season. Though Anderson went hitless Sunday, he has tallied four multi-hit games in seven starts on the campaign.
Apr 16 2022Anderson went 1-for-4 with a stolen base Friday against the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson led off the bottom of the first inning with a single and then stole second base with two outs. He was ultimately stranded, and he did not reach base again. Since serving a two-game suspension to begin the season, Anderson has collected nine hits across 21 plate appearances while tallying four RBI and three runs scored.
Apr 14 2022Anderson went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a two-run double in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Mariners. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Despite missing the first two games of the season while serving a suspension, Anderson has made up for the lost time with a pair of three-hit games among his three starts. Four of Anderson's hits during that stretch have gone for extra bases, and the White Sox may need him to continue mashing to keep a banged-up lineup afloat. AJ Pollock (hamstring) is already on the injured list, and Eloy Jimenez (ankle) and Josh Harrison (back) exited early Wednesday and won't be available for Thursday's series finale.
Apr 10 2022Anderson went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored in Sunday's 10-1 win over Detroit. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson wasted no time making an impact in his season debut after serving a two-game suspension; he ripped a double on the first pitch of the game and came around to score on a Jose Abreu groundout. The star shortstop then doubled and scored again in the seventh. Anderson has hit .322 over the last three years and looks poised to repeat that success in 2022.
Mar 31 2022Anderson will begin the season with a two-game suspension stemming from an altercation with an umpire in September of last year, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was originally handed a three-game ban for the incident, which occurred when benches cleared against the Tigers on Sept. 29. The shortstop said he was pushed by someone he couldn't see and pushed back, without realizing that he'd just shoved umpire Tim Timmons. The suspension has been reduced to two games, so Anderson will now make his season debut April 10 against the Tigers. Leury Garcia or Danny Mendick will handle shortstop in his brief absence.
Oct 11 2021Anderson went 3-for-6 with two runs and an RBI in Sunday's 12-6 win over the Astros in Game 3 of the ALDS. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has done his part to spark the White Sox at the top of the order through the first three games of the series, going 7-for-15 while crossing home four times. Dating back to the regular season, Anderson will carry a nine-game hitting streak into Monday's Game 4.
Oct 1 2021Anderson went 4-for-4 with a double, one RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Friday's 8-1 win over Detroit. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson collected four hits Friday, including an RBI single in the fourth inning. He also came around to score a pair of runs, bringing him to 94 runs scored this season. The star shortstop is now slashing .306/.335/.468 with 48 extra-base hits on the year.
Sep 29 2021Anderson was handed a three-game suspension for making contact with an umpire during Monday's game against the Tigers. He is appealing the ban and remains in the lineup Wednesday versus the Reds, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson can continue to play until the appeal is heard and decided upon, so he's still starting at shortstop and batting leadoff Wednesday. The suspension apparently won't have an impact on the playoffs, so there's no concern about the ban carrying over from the regular season. The 28-year-old may end up serving the suspension in 2022 if the appeal isn't heard ahead of the final game of the regular season Sunday.
Sep 27 2021Anderson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Since activating Anderson from the 10-day injured list Sept. 14, the White Sox have been managing his workload carefully coming off a hamstring issue. He'll sit Monday for the fourth time in 13 games, and another off day or two could be in store for Anderson over the final week of the regular season with Chicago essentially locked in as the American League's No. 3 seed in the playoffs.
Sep 23 2021Anderson isn't starting the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against Cleveland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was dominant in Thursday's matinee, as he went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI. Leury Garcia will take his place at shortstop while batting leadoff.
Sep 21 2021Anderson started at shortstop and went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Monday's 4-3 loss to Detroit. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson, who was recently reinstated from the injured list, played on back-to-back days for the second time since returning from a hamstring injury. The White Sox's original plan was to use him every other day initially, but it appears those plans have been scrapped. Anderson has hit safely in all five games since coming back, going 6-for-22 with a double and five runs scored.
Sep 18 2021Anderson will not start Saturday's game against the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was originally expected to start every other game as he eases his way back from a hamstring injury, but he wound up being added to the lineup Friday because he wanted to test his hamstring on back-to-back days. He's evidently not ready to play in three consecutive games just yet, so he'll sit Saturday as Leury Garcia takes over at shortstop.
Sep 17 2021Anderson was added to the lineup for Friday's game against the Rangers after previously being listed on the bench. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The White Sox looked like they were sticking to their previously discussed plan of starting Anderson every other game in order to ease him back into action after he returned from a hamstring strain Tuesday. However, per James Fegan of The Athletic, manager Tony La Russa said the shortstop is now feeling well enough to play back-to-back days. It's still seems more than likely that Anderson will be given regular days off during the final two weeks of the season to ensure that he's fully healthy for the postseason.
Sep 15 2021Anderson isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Tony La Russa said Tuesday that Anderson will start every other day for the time being, so he'll be on the bench after going 1-for-5 in Tuesday's win. Leury Garcia will start at shortstop and bat seventh.
Sep 14 2021Manager Tony La Russa said that Anderson (hamstring), who is starting at shortstop Tuesday against the Angels, will be playing every other day for a while, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was activated from the injured list earlier Tuesday and is set to return to the top of Chicago's order for the series opener against the Halos. La Russa wasn't specific regarding how long he plans to alternate starts and days off for Anderson, but the club will almost certainly want to have him playing close to everyday by the final week of the season. Anderson resumes his campaign hitting .302/.331/.458 with 14 homers, 26 doubles, 53 RBI, 17 stolen bases and 82 runs scored.
Sep 12 2021Manager Tony La Russa said he expects Anderson (hamstring) to be activated from the injured list Tuesday, Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Assuming he does return Tuesday, Anderson will have missed only slightly more than the minimum 10 days while recovering from a left hamstring strain. The 28-year-old figures to get periodic rest for the remainder of the regular season as the playoff-bound White Sox try to stay healthy until October.
Sep 9 2021Anderson (hamstring) took grounders ahead of Thursday's game against the Athletics, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson participated in batting practice Wednesday, and his on-field work continued ahead of Thursday's series finale in Oakland. Manager Tony La Russa said Tuesday that the shortstop remains without a timetable to return to game action, but his recent participation in baseball activities has been encouraging.
Sep 8 2021Anderson (hamstring) took batting practice Wednesday and has been doing some straight-line running, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson remains without a timeline for his return, but it's nonetheless encouraging that he's taking part in at least some baseball activities. The 28-year-old will need to ramp up his activity level before a potential return date comes into focus.
Sep 7 2021Manager Tony La Russa said Tuesday that Anderson (hamstring) still doesn't have a timetable to return, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has been on the 10-day IL since Aug. 29 due to a left hamstring strain, but he still hasn't returned to full health. A better timetable for the 28-year-old's return should come into focus once he's able to ramp up his activity level. Leury Garcia and Danny Mendick will continue to handle the duties at shortstop while Anderson is sidelined.
Sep 1 2021Anderson was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain Wednesday, retroactive to Aug. 29. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson had dealt with recurring leg soreness recently and was forced to miss the last two games as a result, and he'll now be placed on the 10-day IL after he was diagnosed with a hamstring strain. Manager Tony La Russa initially downplayed the severity of the shortstop's injury, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him return following a brief absence. However, Leury Garcia, Danny Mendick and Romy Gonzalez are in line for playing time at shortstop in Anderson's absence.
Aug 31 2021Anderson (leg) is still dealing with soreness and is not starting Tuesday's game against the Pirates, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The infielder misses yet another game with leg soreness. Manager Tony La Russa has repeatedly downplayed the significance of Anderson's absences, but continued omissions from the lineup will add to the concern that he may be nursing a more legitimate injury. Leury Garcia is playing shortstop and batting eighth Tuesday.
Aug 29 2021White Sox manager Tony La Russa said Anderson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs due to recurring leg soreness, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The same injury cropped up last weekend and kept Anderson on the bench for four straight games, but he returned to the lineup Wednesday and had started at shortstop in each of the White Sox's last four contests while going 5-for-17 with two doubles, four runs and two RBI. While it's less than ideal that Anderson isn't completely over the issue, La Russa suggested that the 28-year-old will likely be good to go after a day out of the lineup Sunday combined with the team's off day Monday. Fantasy managers looking to deploy Anderson during the White Sox's five-game week will want to ensure he's included in the starting nine Tuesday against the Pirates.
Aug 25 2021Anderson (leg) went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to Toronto. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After a four-game absence with leg soreness, the shortstop was unable to make much of an impact in his return. Anderson was red-hot before sitting out, going 19-for-49 (.388) across the previous 10 games, so he should be able to get the bat going again in the near future. He has a .300/.328/.456 slash line with 14 home runs, 17 stolen bases, 51 RBI and 78 runs scored through 470 plate appearances overall.
Aug 24 2021Anderson (leg) is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson said Tuesday he's feeling better but won't play until he's feeling 100 percent, Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago reports. The star infielder should still be considered day-to-day, with a chance to rejoin the lineup for Wednesday night's game in Toronto. Danny Mendick is playing shortstop and batting eighth Tuesday.
Aug 23 2021Anderson (leg) is not in the lineup Monday against the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson is out of the starting nine for the third consecutive contest as he continues to manage some leg soreness. Manager Tony La Russa previously said the injury is minor and that the shortstop's absence is precautionary, but he's nonetheless sitting for the third straight day. Danny Mendick will start at shortstop while Cesar Hernandez handles leadoff duties in his absence.
Aug 22 2021White Sox manager Tony La Russa said Anderson will remain out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays due to leg soreness, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. "If this was October, he'd be in there, but this is preventative," La Russa said of Anderson. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Chicago skipper stressed that Anderson wasn't dealing with any sort of injury, so the 28-year-old shortstop truly looks to be out of the starting nine for a second straight day for extra maintenance amid a heavy schedule of games for the White Sox. Danny Mendick will fill in for him in the series finale, but expect Anderson to be back in the lineup for Monday's game in Toronto.
Aug 21 2021Anderson isn't starting Saturday's game against the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson tied Friday's game in the ninth inning with a solo home run, but he'll be out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games following the extra-innings win. Danny Mendick will take his place at the keystone and bat eighth.
Aug 19 2021Anderson isn't starting Thursday's game against the Athletics. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has gone 4-for-13 with a triple, a run, an RBI and a stolen base across his last three games. Danny Mendick will start at shortstop and bat eighth.
Aug 12 2021Anderson went 2-for-5 and hit a game-winning two-run homer in Thursday's 9-8 victory over the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson came to the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning with a runner on and the White Sox trailing 8-7, and he went yard off Zack Britton to deliver a walk-off win for Chicago in the "Field of Dreams" game. It was the 13th home run of the season for Anderson, who also clubbed his 24th double earlier in the contest. Anderson is 9-for-19 (.474) with three homers and a pair of doubles over his last four games.
Aug 11 2021Anderson isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has gone 7-for-14 with two homers, a double, four runs and three RBI across his last three games, and he'll get a breather in Wednesday's series finale. Leury Garcia will start at shortstop and bat eighth.
Aug 10 2021Anderson went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and an additional run Monday in the White Sox's 11-1 win over the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After back-to-back three-hit performances, Anderson's batting average now sits at .300 for the third season in a row. The shortstop staked the White Sox to an early advantage with a leadoff home run off Beau Burrows, one of three long balls Chicago slugged in the first two innings.
Aug 8 2021Anderson went 3-for-5 with a double, solo home run, an additional run and a strikeout in a 9-3 victory over the Cubs on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson homered to lead off the game as part of a five-run first, singled and scored in the second and doubled in the eighth to reach base three times for the second time this month. The strong performance at the dish snaps a 2-for-18 mini-slump over Anderson's last four games and the shortstop is now slashing .296/.327/.440.
Aug 3 2021Anderson went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored Tuesday against the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson began his production with a two-run home run when he took Kris Bubic yard in the third inning. He then tacked on a third RBI with a run-scoring single in the seventh inning. Anderson now has 10 homers on the season, though this was his first in his last 12 starts. In that same span, he had collected only eight hits across 47 at-bats. For the season, Anderson has maintained a strong .301/.333/.443 line with 40 RBI, 66 runs scored and 16 stolen bases across 399 plate appearances.
Jul 29 2021Anderson will sit Thursday against the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This appears to be nothing more than a routine day off for the star shortstop. Danny Mendick will slide over to the position in his absence, with Andrew Vaughn starting at second base.
Jul 24 2021Anderson was ejected from Friday's 7-1 loss to the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson and the rest of the White Sox were vocal about umpire John Libka's strike zone all night. Manager Tony La Russa was given the heave-ho in the bottom of the seventh inning followed by Anderson a half-inning later. Danny Mendick replaced Anderson at shortstop.
Jul 22 2021Anderson went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 7-2 loss to Minnesota. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson had two streaks snapped within the last two games. A 16-game hitting streak ceased Tuesday, then a 13-game run-scoring streak was halted Wednesday. The latest theft leaves him at 16 steals, putting Anderson in line for his second 20-steal season and first since 2018.
Jul 19 2021Anderson isn't in the starting lineup for Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader against Minnesota, Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson will get the night off after going 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored earlier in the day. Danny Mendick bats ninth and gets the start at shortstop with Anderson riding the pine.
Jul 18 2021Anderson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Astros. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson extended a couple of streaks during the win. He's hit safely in 15 consecutive and has a run in 11 straight. That doesn't include another streak, his second straight contest with a home run and eighth of the season.
Jul 17 2021Anderson went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in Friday's 7-1 loss to Houston. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson collected two of the team's three hits in the loss. He entered the All-Star break on a 12-game hitting streak and extended it to 13 with a first-inning triple. The shortstop came around to score on Yoan Moncada's double, giving him 13 runs over the past nine games. Anderson's slashing .397/.426/.517 over the streak.
Jul 9 2021Anderson went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and three runs in Friday's 12-1 blowout of the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: In his last five games, the shortstop has gone 13-for-21 with four doubles, three walks and nine runs, raising his batting average from .289 to .312 in the process. Hitting before Yoan Moncada and Jose Abreu would be an enviable spot for any player, but Anderson would be having a phenomenal stretch offensively even without their help in the second and third spots of Chicago's lineup. His situation only figures to improve once Eloy Jimenez (pectoral) returns in a month or so.
Jul 8 2021Anderson went 4-for-4 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After a rest day Tuesday, Anderson extended his hitting streak to nine games, during which he's slashed .410/.452/.487. He's delivered four multi-hit performances during the run, though he has yet to hit a homer.
Jul 6 2021Anderson is not starting Tuesday's game against the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson gets a long-overdue day on the bench after going 1-for-3 with two walks and a run Monday. The 28-year-old has hit .313 with three doubles and nine runs scored in his last 11 games. Danny Mendick will start at shortstop and bat ninth Tuesday.
Jul 4 2021Anderson went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored in Sunday's 6-5 loss to Detroit. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The shortstop has hit safely in seven straight games, going 11-for-32 (.348) in that span. Only two of Anderson's hits during the streak have gone for extra bases, and both were doubles in Saturday's contest. The 28-year-old is slashing .298/.331/.412 with six home runs, 28 RBI, 48 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 20 attempts through 69 games this year.
Jun 28 2021Anderson went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in a 7-5 win over the Mariners in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson's been fighting it at the plate recently, going 7-for-37 (.189) with one extra-base hit over the last nine games, but he singled in his first two trips to the plate and swiped his 14th bag of the season. This is the fifth time in six seasons the shortstop has reached double-digit steals, with 26 thefts in 2018 being his career benchmark.
Jun 24 2021Anderson went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson celebrated his 28th birthday by doubling home a run in the second inning and later scoring on Yasmani Grandal's two-run double in the fifth. The two-hit day helped salvage a road trip during which Anderson hit just .160 (4-for-25).
Jun 16 2021Anderson went 3-for-4 with a stolen base Tuesday in the White Sox's 3-0 win over the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson delivered his third multi-hit game in a row, with the 27-year-old going 8-for-13 with a pair of doubles, four runs and two RBI over that stretch. Thanks to the hot streak, Anderson has lifted his season-long batting average from .291 to .311. He'll look to keep the momentum going in Wednesday's series finale; he'll bat leadoff and start at shortstop.
Jun 13 2021Anderson will receive a scheduled day off as expected Sunday against the Tigers, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was reported Saturday that Anderson would get the day off Sunday, and he is indeed absent from Tony La Russa's lineup card for the series finale. Danny Mendick will shift to shortstop as Leury Garcia mans second base as the leadoff hitter.
Jun 12 2021Anderson went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 15-2 win over Detroit. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson scored all three times he got on base, and he added a two-RBI single in the fifth inning. The shortstop continues to impress atop Chicago's order. He has a .299/.341/.431 slash line with six home runs, 25 RBI, 38 runs scored and 12 stolen bases across 226 plate appearances. He has yet to go more than three games without a hit this season after entering Saturday 0-for-7 in his last two contests.
Jun 10 2021Anderson went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two stolen bases Wednesday in a loss to the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The leadoff man extended his modest hitting streak to seven games in the loss. Over that stretch, he has batted .379 (11-for-29) with a home run, six RBI and three steals. Anderson's 12 thefts overall are tied for fourth in the league.
Jun 9 2021Anderson went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 6-1 victory over the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson singled twice and knocked in a run with an eighth-inning sacrifice fly that accounted for the Chicago's final tally of the contest. The star shortstop extended his on-base streak to 10 games with the two-hit effort, and during that stretch he has hit .359 (14-for-39) with a homer, six RBI and three stolen bases.
Jun 6 2021Anderson went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson knocked a two-run single during a three-run second inning Sunday. Jun 4 2021Anderson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-1 victory over Detroit. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson's eighth-inning home run was the fourth and final solo shot of the day for the White Sox. It was his sixth homer of the season and first in 17 games. After experiencing an allergy-induced headache that forced him to miss a game earlier this week, Anderson has recorded multiple hits in the two games since.
Jun 1 2021Anderson (allergies) is back in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against Cleveland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was forced to sit out Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader because of an allergy-induced headache. The star shortstop will get right back in the lineup Tuesday, batting in his normal leadoff position and playing shortstop.
May 31 2021Anderson was dealing with allergies as he sat out Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Much like teammate Andrew Vaughn, Anderson sat due to an allergy-induced headache. It's unclear whether the shortstop will return to action Tuesday, but he figures to be back in the lineup sooner rather than later.
May 30 2021Anderson went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 3-1 win over Baltimore. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson got aboard with a single in the seventh inning, then stole second and advanced to third on an error. The shortstop came home on a go-ahead RBI triple from Nick Madrigal. Anderson is now 9-for-11 in stolen base attempts this year. He's added five home runs, 17 RBI, 31 runs scored and a .293/.330/.425 slash line in 40 games as the White Sox's usual leadoff hitter.
May 28 2021Anderson (thumb) will return to the lineup as expected Friday against the Orioles, leading off and playing shortstop. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson missed the last two games due to general soreness, but the White Sox never seemed particularly concerned with the issue. He'd been in a bit of a slump over his last seven games, going 3-for-30 at the plate, but the team will hope he's refreshed and ready to go following the pair of days off.
May 27 2021The White Sox anticipate that Anderson, who is dealing with a sore left thumb in additional to general body soreness, will be ready to rejoin the lineup Friday against the Orioles, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson will be on the bench for the second straight day in Thursday's series opener, but the White Sox appear to be holding him out merely as a precaution. The 27-year-old had been stuck in a 3-for-30 slump over his past seven starts, so the time off should not only help him recover from his minor injuries, but it should also help him refine his approach at the plate.
May 26 2021Anderson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The White Sox haven't provided any indication that Anderson is dealing with an injury, so he's likely just getting some maintenance Wednesday as the team closes out its series with the Cardinals with a day game after a night game. Danny Mendick will spell Anderson at shortstop, while second baseman Nick Madrigal assumes Anderson's usual leadoff duties. Anderson is batting an excellent .287 on the season, but his average has dropped steadily over the past week while he's managed only three hits in 30 at-bats over his last seven starts.
May 25 2021Anderson went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 5-1 win over the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson capped off a four-run sixth inning with a two-run double off Daniel Ponce de Leon. He's now hit in three straight games but is still mired in a 3-for-25 slump, and these were his first RBI in 10 games.
May 23 2021Anderson went 1-for-3 with a walk in Saturday's 7-0 loss to the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson's sixth-inning single snapped an 0-for-17 run, which came after he'd hit in 12 straight. The shortstop has a .299/.336/.438 slash line over 152 plate appearances.
May 16 2021Anderson went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson made his presence felt at the top of the White Sox's lineup once again, but he delivered a complete effort -- he stole his seventh base of the campaign and posted a multi-hit game for the sixth time during his ongoing 11-game hitting streak. The star shortstop is hitting .382 during that 11-game stretch.
May 14 2021Anderson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 4-2 win over the Twins on Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson went yard off Michael Pineda to lead off the game. The 28-year-old leads the White Sox in runs scored (22) and stolen bases (six). Anderson is an elite hitter who provides power, average and speed. He has three multi-hit games in a row and is riding an eight-game hitting streak.
May 1 2021Anderson went 1-for-4 with a grand slam and a strikeout as Chicago beat Cleveland 7-3 on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson took Cleveland starter Triston McKenzie deep on 1-2 fastball with the bases juiced to give Chicago all the run support it would need on the day. The blast nearly doubled Anderson's RBI total on the season to nine.
Apr 30 2021Anderson went 2-for-5 with a run, an RBI and two stolen bases in Friday's 5-3 loss to Cleveland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was a force in the third inning Friday. He singled in a run before swiping second base and coming around to score on a Yoan Moncada base hit. He stole another bag after singling in the fifth, giving him five on the season. The 6-foot-1 shortstop is slashing .313/.343/.478 through 70 plate appearances.
Apr 24 2021Anderson went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in Friday's 9-7 win over the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has hit safely in all six games since coming off the injured list, going 12-for-28 with two home runs, three steals and eight runs.

The shortstop has a 1.174 OPS since coming off the injured list and has hit safely every game except the one in which he was injured. For the season, Anderson is slashing .342/.342/.605.
Apr 19 2021Anderson went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two stolen bases in Monday's 11-4 loss to Boston. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson got the White Sox up in the first inning, when he singled and scored on an RBI double from Luis Robert. That lead was quickly and emphatically lost in the bottom half of the inning, as Boston scored six runs. Since coming off the injured list, Anderson is 9-for-18 with a double, a home run, two RBI, five runs scored, and three steals.
Apr 18 2021White Sox manager Tony La Russa said Anderson will be on the bench for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Red Sox, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Since Anderson recently returned from a hamstring injury, the White Sox don't want to overtax the shortstop by having him play all 14 innings of the twin bill. Anderson will be getting a deserved breather after he was the driving force of the Chicago offense in the 3-2 victory in Game 1. He recorded three of the White Sox's seven hits, including a leadoff home run in the first inning.
Apr 16 2021Anderson went 2-for-5 with a run scored in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Cleveland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson, who returned to the lineup after spending time on the injured list with a hamstring injury, greeted Cleveland's Aaron Civale with a first-pitch single. He came around to score on a two-out single by Yoan Moncada. Anderson is 5-for-20 with one home run and four runs scored through five games.
Apr 15 2021Anderson (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day injured list as expected ahead of Thursday's game against Cleveland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson strained his left hamstring in just the fourth game of the season. The injury wasn't a particularly bad one, however, so he's returning to action after a minimum-length stay on the injured list. Nick Williams was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
Apr 14 2021Anderson (hamstring) will be in Thursday's lineup against Cleveland, according to manager Tony La Russa, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This confirms prior reports that Anderson was trending towards a Thursday activation. He was already running at full speed Tuesday and can be plugged into weekend fantasy lineups.
Apr 12 2021Anderson (hamstring) is expected to return to the lineup when first eligible Thursday against Cleveland, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson suffered a left hamstring game in the fourth game of the season. While the injury was serious enough to send him to the injured list, he's recovered well and isn't in line for a lengthy absence. Leury Garcia and Danny Mendick have been filling in for him at shortstop and should remain the primary options there for the next three games.
Apr 8 2021Anderson estimated Thursday that he's about 85 percent recovered from his left hamstring strain, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Assuming Anderson's assessment of his injury aligns with the opinion of Chicago's team doctors, the shortstop could be in store for a minimum-lengthy stay on the 10-day injured list after he was deactivated Wednesday. He'll still have a few hurdles to clear in the recovery process before the White Sox reinstate him from the IL, including running the bases and playing the field with no visible limitations. As long as Anderson remains on the shelf, the White Sox will likely turn to Leury Garcia and Danny Mendick to fill in at shortstop.
Apr 7 2021Anderson has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left hamstring strain, retroactive to April 5. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has been sidelined since leaving Sunday's game against the Angels due to left hamstring tightness. The 27-year-old underwent an MRI on Monday that revealed a strain, and he'll miss additional time while he recovers. Leury Garcia should serve as the primary shortstop in his absence, and Danny Mendick was recalled from alternate camp in a corresponding move to serve as infield depth.
Apr 5 2021Anderson (hamstring) is awaiting the results of an MRI on Monday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson left Sunday's game against the Angels with a tight left hamstring. Initial reports indicated that he wasn't expected to miss time, but manager Tony La Russa now says the team will be happy to have him back by Thursday. Scott Merkin of MLB.com notes that Anderson was feeling better Monday and was able to do some running, but the team has yet to receive the shortstop's test results.
Apr 4 2021Anderson left Sunday's game against the Angels with a tight hamstring but isn't expected to miss much time, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson exited after hurting himself while trying to beat out a grounder, but he seems to have avoided a serious injury. Leury Garcia replaced him at shortstop and could start there for a game or two, but Anderson isn't expected to require a trip to the injured list.
Apr 3 2021Anderson went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 12-8 win over the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson's solo homer was part of a five-run, ninth-inning barrage that sealed the win for the White Sox. He had 10 homers in 49 games last season and should put up the second 20-homer season of his career if he remains healthy.
Mar 23 2021Anderson went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBI in Monday's spring game against San Francisco. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He launched his first Cactus League home run leading off the bottom of the first inning. Anderson then plated a second run with his second-inning double. After a slow start, Anderson is dialing in his swing, as he's gone 3-for-8 with three extra-base hits in the last two games.
Mar 17 2021Anderson batted leadoff and went 0-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's spring game against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson is 6-for-29 with a .475 OPS over 10 Cactus League appearances, but those numbers shouldn't scare off fantasy owners. He had subpar spring training in 2020 then posted a career-high .886 OPS. He possess a combination of power and speed that should be useful even if last season's high BABIP (.383) regresses.
Feb 24 2021White Sox manager Tony LaRussa said Wednesday that Anderson will serve as the club's leadoff hitter this season, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Even with Chicago bringing in a new skipper for 2021, Anderson was fully expected to retain his leadoff role after slashing .322/.357/.529 over 221 plate appearances last season. For the second straight year, Anderson greatly outperformed his expected batting average (.293), but even if regression finally rears its head in 2021, the 27-year-old should remain a major asset in that category. His power/speed combination and placement atop one of the majors' strongest lineups further burnishes his fantasy value.
Oct 1 2020Anderson went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Wednesday's Game 2 loss to the Athletics. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He now has three hits in each of the two games in this series, as Anderson's bat has stayed hot this postseason. Look for him to lead off again in Thursday's deciding Game 3.
Sep 22 2020Anderson was ejected from Tuesday's game against the Indians, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 27-year-old was due to hit fourth during the 10th inning Tuesday, but he got ejected from the dugout while arguing a called check swing on teammate Luis Robert. Anderson went 1-for-4 with a strikeout before getting tossed and now has a .353/.387.583 slash line in 44 games.
Sep 21 2020Anderson (hamstring) will start at shortstop and will leadoff Monday against the Indians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson looked like a prime candidate to receive a day off Monday after exiting Sunday's loss to the Reds with a right hamstring cramp, but the 27-year-old evidently feels ready to play through the pain as the White Sox look to secure the American League's top record during the final week of the regular season. He'll occupy his familiar perch atop the order, where he's been a spark plug all season for one of the majors' most potent lineups. Anderson maintains a .996 OPS on the campaign, a 131-point increase from the career-best mark he posted in 2019.
Sep 20 2020Anderson exited Sunday's game against the Reds with a right hamstring cramp, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 27-year-old went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts before being lifted for a pinch hitter during the seventh inning. Anderson should be considered day-to-day.
Sep 18 2020Anderson is out of the lineup Friday against the Reds. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The White Sox clinched their first playoff birth since 2008 with Thursday's win over the Twins, and Anderson will receive his first day off since returning from the groin injury Aug. 11. Nick Madrigal will move up to the leadoff spot while Yolmer Sanchez starts at shortstop.
Sep 17 2020Anderson went 1-for-4 and was caught stealing in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson extended his hit streak to five games (13-for-23) and has hit safely in 12 of 14 September games. He's owned the month for two seasons. In 2019, he slashed .374/.400/.566 over 23 games on his way to the AL batting title. This season, he's slashing .450/.477/.600 over 14 games and is tied with the Yankees' DJ LeMahieu for tops in the AL.
Sep 15 2020Anderson went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored Tuesday against the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson took Tyler Clippard yard in the sixth inning to tally his eighth homer of the season. While that his first long ball since Sept. 3, Anderson now has four consecutive multi-hit appearances -- totalling four RBI and four runs scored in that span. Overall, he's hitting .377/.313/.605 with 19 RBI and 41 runs scored across 174 plate appearances.
Sep 14 2020Anderson went 3-for-5 with an RBI double in Monday's 3-1 win over the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson's biggest hit of the game produced the third run for the White Sox as he plated Luis Robert in the eighth inning. Over his last 10 games, Anderson is 20-for-43 (.465) with a homer, two stolen bases, seven RBI and 11 runs scored. The shortstop is slashing an excellent .369/.408/.586 with seven homers, five steals, 39 runs scored and 18 RBI through 37 contests overall.
Sep 12 2020Anderson went 4-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored Saturday against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson joined the White Sox 14-run offensive barrage, recording his sixth multi-hit game in his last 10 starts. He has reached base regularly throughout the season, illustrated by his .358 batting average and .400 on-base percentage. As a result of his ability to reach base safely and the talent of his surrounding lineup, Anderson now has 38 runs scored in just 35 contests.
Sep 4 2020Anderson went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, two runs scored and an RBI in Friday's 7-4 win over the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Both of Anderson's hits were singles, but his RBI came in the form of a sacrifice fly in the fourth. He also scored on an Edwin Encarnacion sacrifice fly in the first and Jose Abreu's two-run double in the sixth. He also walked and scored in the second while tacking on singles in the first and seventh frames. The speedy 27-year-old is having himself a successful campaign, batting .347/.389/.610 with 30 runs scored.
Sep 1 2020Anderson went 3-for-4 with a run scored in a loss to Minnesota on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The White Sox couldn't muster much offense in the contest, but Anderson was up to his usual production, notching his 11th multi-hit game of the season. The 2019 MLB batting champion is 13-for-32 with four homers and seven RBI since being reinstated from the injured list on Aug. 11. He will bring an impressive .379/.414/.758 slash line into the weekend series with the Cubs.
Aug 19 2020Anderson went 1-for-4 with an RBI single, a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson singled to score Zack Collins in the fifth inning, then promptly stole second. The 27-year-old Anderson tied the game when he scored on a Yoan Moncada single. He's starting Tuesday against the Tigers as he's expected to reclaim his spot atop the White Sox's lineup going forward. Leury Garcia (thumb) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.
Aug 10 2020Anderson (groin) is expected to return to action Tuesday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson traveled with the team during the current road trip, and manager Rick Renteria said Monday that he should be back Tuesday, the first day that he's eligible to return. The 27-year-old will return to the leadoff spot once he's back in the lineup.
Aug 9 2020Anderson (groin) will travel with the team to Detroit for the upcoming road trip, which begins Monday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The team hasn't provide a specific date for his return from the injured list, but it appears the 27-year-old could be activated when first eligible Tuesday. Anderson will reclaim the leadoff spot upon his return, despite the impressive performance of Luis Robert in his place. Anderson was 10-for-30 with a home run, four doubles and seven runs before going down with the injury.
Aug 7 2020Anderson (groin) will serve as the White Sox's leadoff hitter when he returns, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Rick Renteria confirmed that news, even though Luis Robert has thrived atop the order. "I still consider Timmy our leadoff guy, and we'll find a way to continue to adjust the lineup a little bit," Renteria said. "I've got to talk to Tim and see how he's doing and then figure out where I'll insert him. But right now, if the question is, 'Will I insert him at the top of the lineup?' My answer to you right now is yes." Anderson was confident after a full workout Thursday and should return on schedule Aug. 11.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 27-year-old suffered the groin strain Friday and subsequently landed on the injured list, but he may be able to return when first eligible Tuesday. More information should be available once Anderson gets into the meat of his rehab. Leury Garcia should continue to fill in at shortstop in the meantime.
Aug 1 2020Anderson was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained right groin Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson left Friday's game against the Royals with what was initially called right hip soreness, although the issue is evidently with his groin. He'll now miss at least 10 days, though the White Sox have yet to provide a concrete timetable for his return. Catcher Yermin Mercedes was recalled to take his place on the roster, but it will be Leury Garcia taking his place at shortstop Saturday against the Royals.
Jul 31 2020Anderson exited Friday's contest against the Royals with right hip soreness. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson had gone 2-for-3 with a double and one strikeout to begin Friday's contest, but he was removed in the seventh inning due to a hip issue. Whether the shortstop misses any additional time as a result remains to be seen.
Jul 28 2020Anderson 4-for-9 with a home run, two doubles and three runs scored during Tuesday's doubleheader at Cleveland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 27-year-old had a strong start in the season opener with two hits and two runs scored, but he struggled in the following two games and went 0-for-9 with a run scored, a walk and three strikeouts. Anderson is now 6-for-23 with six runs scored and one home run through five games.
Jul 25 2020Anderson batted leadoff and went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in Friday's 10-5 loss to the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson, who won the American League batting title in 2019, was back at it to start 2020. He's expected to remain up in the order, although there is a chance manager Rick Renteria eventually moves Luis Robert, a leadoff hitter in the minors, atop the order once the rookie acclimates to MLB pitching.
Jul 12 2020Anderson hit a pair of home runs in Sunday's intrasquad game and now has three total home runs during intrasquad play, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: There are no official statistics for intrasquad play, but Anderson is unofficially the league leader with three home runs in the early going. He is certainly seeing the ball well, which is encouraging after he hit .185 with a .214 OBP and zero home runs in 28 plate appearances during spring training.
Mar 2 2020Anderson (illness) will start at shortstop and bat second in Monday's Cactus League game against the Padres, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was sidelined over the weekend with a stomach virus, but he'll get the green light to rejoin the spring lineup after reporting to the ballpark healthy Monday. He'll slot behind Yoan Moncada in the lineup, and those two players are expected to regularly occupy the Nos. 1 and 2 spots in some order once Opening Day arrives.
Feb 28 2020Anderson will miss Friday's game against Cleveland due to a stomach virus, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With the illness occurring nearly a month before Opening Day, Anderson can afford to miss a few days and still have plenty of time to get ready for the regular season. He lines up to hit near the top of the batting order for the White Sox as the everyday shortstop this season.
Feb 24 2020Anderson batted leadoff Sunday, going 1-for-3 with an RBI in a spring win over the Reds. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Chicago's leadoff batter is one job yet to be determined as Cactus League games commence. Anderson and Yoan Moncada, who batted second, are expected to occupy the top two spots in the order. Anderson is not the classic top-of-the-order guy in that he's a free swinger that doesn't draw many walks (2.9 percent in 2019). That spot will give him plenty of plate appearances, which the White Sox will want from the American League's reigning batting champ (.335).
Feb 20 2020Manager Rick Renteria said he's leaning towards hitting Anderson first or second in the order, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson and Yoan Moncada are tentatively expected to fill the top two spots in Chicago's lineup, in any order, though nothing is set in stone. The 26-year-old is coming off a career year in 2019 during which he hit .335/.357/.508 with 18 home runs and 17 stolen bases in 123 games.
Sep 28 2019Anderson is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He is in the midst of a 13-game hitting streak, slashing .390/.393/.525 with two home runs and one steal over that stretch. Danny Mendick is starting at shortstop and hitting second.
Sep 26 2019Anderson went 4-for-5 with two runs scored in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Indians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson's MLB-high batting average swelled to .339 following the four-hit effort, his fifth time this season with that may hits. He now has a 10-point lead over Christian Yelich and Ketel Marte, both of whom are injured and done for the season, and 11 points more than DJ LeMahieu. He's still a free swinger, chasing pitches outside the zone, but has improved his contact rate and enjoys a .402 BABIP.
Sep 22 2019Anderson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and walk during a 5-3 victory against the Tigers on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The White Sox shortstop is now on a nine-game hitting streak and has gone deep twice in the last four contests. During his streak, Anderson is 16-for-46 (.348) with four extra-base hits and five RBI. Overall, he is batting .335 with 18 home runs, 56 RBI, 78 runs and 17 steals in 477 at-bats this year.
Sep 18 2019Anderson went 4-for-6 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 9-8 extra-innings loss to the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson recorded the first four-hit game of his career and solidified his major-league lead in batting average. His average increased to .336 with the performance, his 20th multi-hit effort in his last 29 games.
Sep 16 2019Anderson will sit Monday in Minnesota. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson has carried a hot bat down the stretch in his search for a batting title, hitting .375/.394/.578 over his last 14 games. He leads DJ LeMahieu by four points (.332 to .328) in the race for the American League crown. Danny Mendick will start at shortstop Monday.
Sep 8 2019Anderson will sit Sunday against the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson is making a push for the American League batting title and currently holds a slight lead (.334 to 328) over DJ LeMahieu. He's been excellent since mid-August, hitting .392/.404/.627 over his last 23 games. He'll get a break Sunday, with Danny Mendick starting at shortstop.
Sep 7 2019Anderson went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 5-4 win over the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson moved to the leadoff spot Friday as Leury Garcia (personal) was away attending the funeral services of a relative. Anderson has hit safely in seven straight games (six with multiple hits), going 14-for-32 with five doubles, two homers and four RBI.
Sep 4 2019Anderson went 3-for-5 with a double, home run, two RBI and two runs scored Wednesday against the Indians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Anderson was productive throughout the game but saved his best for last, smacking a two-run homer off Brad Hand in the final frame. He now has 15 home runs on the campaign and extended his hitting streak to five games. For the season, Anderson is hitting 331/.352/.506 to go along with 16 steals across 106 games.

Jul 23 2018Anderson went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 8-2 loss to Seattle. The White Sox were no-hit through 5.2 innings before Adam Engel's infield single preceded Anderson's 14th homer of the season. He had began the year with 11 homers over the first 50 games, but Anderson's pace has fallen to just three long balls over his last 45. Still, the 25-year-old shortstop, who has stolen 21 bases, is threatening to post his first 20-20 season.
Jul 8 2018Anderson went 0-for-4 and stole a base in Saturday's 12-6 loss to the Astros.Anderson was held out of the White Sox's previous game after getting plunked by a pitch on the left forearm, but his legs still work fine. The steal was his 21st of the season, which ties him for fifth in the majors.
Jul 7 2018Anderson (forearm) will start at shortstop and bat eighth against the Astros on Saturday.Anderson will return to the field after sitting out Wednesday due to a sore forearm he suffered during Tuesday's contest. Across 85 games this year, he's hitting .251/.311/.423 with 13 home runs, 34 RBI and 20 stolen bases.
Jul 6 2018Anderson (forearm) is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Astros.Anderson was hit by a pitch late in Thursday's game and was feeling some soreness after the game, so he will take the day off Friday. Leury Garcia will take over at shortstop for the White Sox, while Anderson should still be considered day-to-day.
Jul 5 2018Anderson is day-to-day with a sore forearm, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.Anderson was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning of Thursday's loss to the Astros and was reportedly dealing with some soreness after the game. With that, the White Sox will reevaluate their starting shortstop Friday before making a decision on whether to keep Anderson in the lineup or give him the day off. If Anderson is given the day off, Yolmer Sanchez could slide over to shortstop.
Jul 4 2018Anderson went 2-for-6 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Tuesday's 12-8 extra-inning win over the Reds.Anderson's batting average and on-base percentage remain mediocre, but he's delivered value in other areas. The stolen base is his team-high 18th, and he also leads the team with 47 runs scored. Until a couple of weeks ago, we couldn't even describe his average as mediocre -- he was hitting .230 on June 20 -- but Anderson's hit safely in 11 of last 12 games, going 18-for-49 (.367) with 11 runs, two home runs and seven RBI.
Jul 1 2018Anderson went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI in a 10-5 victory for the White Sox over the Rangers on Sunday. The 25-year-old raised his average up to .251 with this multi-hit effort on an explosive day for the White Sox offense. Anderson continues to be a cross-category asset, with 13 homers and 17 steals to go along with 45 runs and 34 RBI. He doesn't hit for especially high average and his .433 slugging percentage isn't spectacular, but Anderson has nonetheless posted a respectable .745 OPS over his 291 at-bats, and his ability on the basepaths also drastically enhances his fantasy value.
Jun 28 2018Anderson went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases in a 2-1 loss to Minnesota on Thursday.Anderson was also caught stealing once in this one, making his 17-for-22 in steal attempts on the season. The 25-year-old is slashing .251/.315/.437 with 43 runs scored and 24 extra-base hits. He surpassed last season's total of 15 stolen bases and should have no problem beating his 17 homers as well.
Jun 23 2018Anderson went 2-for-4 with a homer, a steal, two runs and three RBI in Saturday's loss to Oakland. The homer, a three-run shot off Daniel Mengden in the first inning, was Anderson's 13th of the season, while the steal was his 15th of the year. He's on pace for 28 homers and 32 steals, giving him an outside shot at a 30-30 season if he can keep the pace up. Production in those categories has been enough to make Anderson a fairly valuable shortstop despite a relatively low .239 batting average.
Jun 23 2018Anderson went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and three runs scored in Friday's win over the A's.Anderson tagged starter Chris Bassitt for a double -- his ninth of the year -- and later slugged a solo homer off Yusmeiro Petit in the eighth inning. Anderson's 12 home runs are tied for sixth among MLB shortstops, but he only has 28 RBI on the season (which ties him for 14th at the position). The 25-year-old's power is a nice feature but it comes with a 25 percent strikeout rate, which helps explain the .235 batting average and .299 on-base percentage.
Jun 14 2018Anderson is not in the starting lineup against Cleveland on Thursday.Anderson will receive a breather following four straight hitless outings, going 0-for-11 with seven strikeouts dating back to Sunday's series finale in Boston. In his place, Jose Rondon will start at shortstop and bat second in the order.
Jun 11 2018Anderson went 0-for-2 with two walks, a run scored and an RBI in Sunday's win over Boston.Anderson worked a bases-loaded walk against Rick Porcello in the third inning, then alertly came around from second base on a 3-1 putout on which Porcello stumbled after taking the throw from Mitch Moreland. This was Anderson's fourth multi-walk game of the season, three more than the free-swinging shortstop had during his first two seasons in the majors. He has now walked 20 times over 243 plate appearances (8.3 BB%) this season, after accepting just 13 free passes over 606 plate appearances (2.2 BB%) in 2017.
Jun 7 2018Anderson is not in the lineup against Minnesota on Thursday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.Anderson will head to the bench for the series finale as Jose Rondon picks up a start at shortstop. Over the past 12 games, Anderson is hitting .295 with a 1.036 OPS and 13 RBI.
Jun 2 2018Anderson went 1-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored in Friday's 8-3 win over the Brewers.Anderson lashed a two-run triple in the sixth inning to break a tie game. It was the fourth straight game with a hit for Anderson, who has batted .344 (11-for-32) with seven extra-base hits (four home runs), 11 RBI and nine runs scored over the last nine games since his season average bottomed out at .230. There was a report earlier in the week about a thumb injury, but that's had more effect on him as a fielder than as a hitter.
May 27 2018Anderson jammed his thumb a few days ago, but has played through the injury, Phil Thompson of the Chicago Tribune reports. The injury hasn't been a factor at the plate, where Anderson has five hits, including three home runs, over the last two games. In the field, however, he was tagged with three errors (two on the same play) Saturday. "It's feeling better," said Anderson, whose right hand was wrapped. "It's getting better every day so I can't complain."
May 26 2018Anderson went 2-for-4 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored Saturday against the Tigers.Anderson got a hold of his ninth and 10th home runs of the season, one off left-hander Francisco Liriano and the other off righty Louis Coleman. He now has three home runs over his past two games. While his batting average and on-base percentage leave something to be desired, Anderson has turned in strong power and speed production as he now has 10 home runs and 11 stolen bases on the season.
May 25 2018Anderson went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Tigers. It's his first homer in 13 games, giving Anderson eight on the season to go along with his .240/.301/.415 slash line. The 24-year-old has had a tough May, hitting only .167 (11-for-66) with 20 strikeouts coming into Friday, but this performance might be a sign he's about to break out of it.
May 22 2018Anderson is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles.Anderson will head to the bench for just the second time all season after starting five straight games and going just 3-for-18 (.167) over that stretch. Jose Rondon will start at shortstop and hit eighth in his stead.
May 21 2018Anderson went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Rangers.Anderson, who opened the year with 11 attempted steals (10 successful) over the first 30 games, had gone 12 games without an attempt before stealing his 11th on Sunday. With 11 steals over 43 games, Anderson is well on his way to surpass the career-high 15 he set in 2017.
May 16 2018Anderson will not be in the lineup for Wednesday's game against Pittsburgh, Andy Masur of WGN Radio reports.Anderson will receive a rare day off for the first time this season as the White Sox are in the early stages of a 16-day stretch without a scheduled off day. In his place, Yolmer Sanchez will start at shortstop and Matt Davidson will man third base. Over 38 games this season, Anderson is hitting .239 with a .729 OPS, to go along with seven home runs, 11 RBI and 10 stolen bases.
May 10 2018Anderson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Pirates. The homer was Anderson's seventh in 34 games, putting him on pace reach 20-plus homers. Unfortunately, it was just the second homer occurring with men on base, pushing his RBI total to 11. Anderson's spot in Chicago's unproductive lower third of the order doesn't lend itself to many RBI opportunities.
May 6 2018Anderson went 3-for-4 with a double, two solo homers and an additional run scored in Saturday's loss to the Twins.Anderson has been in a bit of a rough patch lately, with just one hit in his last 18 at-bats heading into Saturday, but his big performance will hopefully get him going again. He's now hitting .261/.307/.462 with six homers and 10 stolen bases through 31 games this season.
Apr 29 2018Anderson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader against the Royals.Anderson led off the contest with his fourth home run of the season and first in 21 games. The shortstop is hitting .278 with a .327 on-base percentage through 25 games, big improvements on his 2017 season when he was at .198 and .227 after 25 games.
Apr 28 2018Anderson batted leadoff and went 2-for-5 with a double in Friday's 7-4 extra-inning win over the Royals.Yoan Moncada is the primary leadoff bat for the White Sox, but he's been replaced atop the order the last three times when facing a left-handed starter, as was the case Friday against Kansas City's Danny Duffy. This was the third time Anderson's batted leadoff this season. He was the team's primary leadoff hitter to start the 2017 season, but his free-swinging ways eventually led to a drop to the seven-hole, where he's been most often deployed this season. He's been a more patient hitter in 2018, striking out less frequently while taking an occasional walk along the way. He has seven free passes through 23 games after walking 13 times over 146 games in 2017.
Apr 24 2018Anderson went 2-for-4 and was caught stealing while batting leadoff in Tuesday's 1-0 loss to the Mariners.Anderson was moved up for the day with the left-handed Marco Gonzales on the bump for Seattle. With both hits coming in three at-bats against Gonzales, Anderson's average against lefties improved to .381 (8-for-21). The stolen base try was his ninth attempt of the season and first time caught, putting him well ahead of the pace he established last year, his first full season in the majors.
Apr 24 2018Anderson is batting first against the Mariners on Tuesday.Yoan Moncada is Chicago's typical leadoff hitter, but with lefty Marco Gonzales toeing the rubber for Seattle, Anderson will take a turn atop the order. The speedy shortstop has mashed southpaws in his career, hitting .323 with a .470 slugging percentage over the past three seasons.
Apr 8 2018Anderson went 1-for-3 and stole a base in Sunday's 1-0 loss to the Tigers.Anderson's successfully pilfered all five bases he's attempted to steal through the first 10 games. By comparison, he didn't register his fifth steal in 2017 until June 8, his 51st game. In addition to his increased larceny, Anderson's been a bit more patient at the plate to start the season. He's walked four times in 33 plate appearances (12.1 percent), compared to 13 free passes in all of 2017.
Apr 6 2018Anderson went 1-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base, and a run scored in Thursday's 9-7 loss to the Tigers.Anderson stole his fourth bag (four attempts) of the season after he opened the second inning with a single, then moved to third on a groundout before scoring on Adam Engel's sacrifice fly. It was the second such instance over the first week that Anderson's legs led directly to a run. He vowed to run more in 2018 and he's followed through. What would enhance his base-stealing and run-scoring opportunities is if the hitter with a career OBP of .291 can develop the patience to take more walks. Thursday's two-walk game was just the second of his career.
Apr 4 2018Anderson went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and two stolen bases in Tuesday's 14-5 loss to the Blue Jays.Anderson has been a completely different player this season after a near season-long struggle in 2017. He lost a close friend prior to the start of last season, which is something that hung with him. But the shortstop has put that tragedy behind him, and it's showing up in the box scores. Anderson's hitting .375 (6-for-16) with three home runs, four RBI, six runs and three stolen bases.
Apr 1 2018Anderson went 1-for-4 and had a stolen base in Saturday's 4-3 comeback win over the Royals.Anderson promised he'd be swiping more bags in 2018, so we shouldn't be too surprised by Saturday's theft. His 15 steals last year was respectable, but he had just six through the end of August. In 2018, we should see Anderson run all season long. The 24-year-old shortstop, who hit 17 home runs in 2017 and bopped two on Opening Day, should develop more power as he matures. Along with an increased dedication to steals, we could be looking at a 20-20 player in 2018.
Mar 29 2018Anderson (shoulder) will hit seventh and play shortstop for Thursday's season opener against the Royals.Anderson had been dealing with minor shoulder soreness during the past couple days, but the shortstop doesn't appear to be facing any limitations heading into the beginning of the regular season. In 2017, he slashed .257/.276/.402 with 17 home runs, 56 RBI and 15 stolen bases over 146 appearances.
Mar 29 2018Anderson went 2-for-4 with two home runs in Thursday's win over the Royals, adding three runs and three RBI.It took just one game for Anderson to surpass his home run total from spring training as he turned in the first multi-home run game of his career. He joined teammate Matt Davidson in the power surge Thursday with Davidson chipping in three long balls of his own. Beyond the impressive results Thursday, it's particularly encouraging that Anderson was able to belt those home runs after dealing with some shoulder issues early in the week. Anderson answered any questions about his health on Opening Day and figures to remain in the lineup Saturday when the White Sox face Ian Kennedy and the Royals.
Mar 26 2018Anderson (shoulder) is in the lineup for Monday's exhibition game against the Charlotte Knights.Anderson was scratched from Sunday's game with minor shoulder soreness, but the issue appears to be very minor as he's already back in the lineup. He should be good to go by Opening Day, barring any setbacks.
Mar 26 2018Anderson (shoulder) has been replaced by Tyler Saladino in the lineup for Monday's exhibition game against the Charlotte Knights.Anderson was originally scratched Sunday with minor shoulder soreness. He was listed in Monday's lineup but has been scratched again, presumably with the same shoulder issue. The reports on Sunday indicated that his availability for Opening Day wasn't likely to be threatened. It's possible he's had a setback, but this could just be the team being careful and delaying his return by one more day.
Mar 25 2018White Sox manager Rick Renteria said Anderson will be held out of Sunday's Cactus League game against the Brewers due to minor soreness in the shortstop's left shoulder, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.Anderson picked up the injury while diving in the field for a ball Friday against the Mariners. The shoulder issue likely won't threaten Anderson's availability for the start of the season. Anderson is slated to serve in an everyday role at shortstop this season, though he'll likely slot near the bottom of the order after delivering a woeful .276 on-base percentage across 606 plate appearances in 2017.
Mar 17 2018Anderson batted seventh in the order Friday and could find himself in the lower third of the lineup this season, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.Manager Rick Renteria was batting Anderson second during spring training, but feels the free-swinging shortstop is a better fit lower in the order. He's not much of a table-setter -- Anderson walked 13 times and had a .276 OBP in 2017 -- and Renteria feels the lineup can take advantage of Anderson's high batting average on balls in play (.347 for his career). "I don't want to change who he is," Renteria said. "Timmy puts the bat on the ball a lot and when he does it's a positive outcome. Not putting him in a situation where we're worrying about him getting on, as opposed to if guys are on base we know his ball in play is high and he's driving in a few more runs." Anderson was at his most productive last season when he hit seventh in the order (.730 OPS).
Mar 4 2018Anderson (personal) went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts Sunday against the Padres.Anderson's brief absence from the team to tend to a personal matter came to an end, as he returned to action Sunday. Through this point, Anderson is now hitting .188 over 16 at-bats this spring.
Mar 2 2018Anderson is away from the team while dealing with a personal matter. He is day-to-day.He is hitting .231 with one home run in 13 at-bats this spring, but is currently away from the team. Anderson is an appealing source of power and speed later in drafts (current NFBC ADP of 197.4). While he hit 17 home runs and stole 15 bases in 146 games last season, a 20/20 season isn't out of the question in the coming years.
Feb 24 2018Anderson said he wants to steal more bases in 2018, telling Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-TImes that he wants to reach at last 25 stolen bases. "I'll say over 25. In that 20s range is good," Anderson said before taking the field for the Friday's Cactus League opener. "I'll take more, though."Anderson was a prolific bag-stealer in the minors, but put that part of his game on hold since being promoted to Chicago. That all changed last September when he went 9-for-9 on stolen base attempts. That's 60 percent of the 15 steals he recorded in 2017. Anderson dealt with some personal off-field setbacks last season, which contributed to a poor start and lingered well into the season before his production ticked up noticeably in August and September. The 24-year-old shortstop, who hit a three-run home run in Friday's spring training game, bashed 17 homers in 2017 and is poised to be a 20-20 player if he follows through on his plan to steal more bases.
Feb 20 2018Anderson worked on "everything" during the offseason and reported to spring training prior to Monday's deadline for position players, the Chicago Tribune reports."He actually looks very, very relaxed - he looks very happy," manager Rick Renteria said. "The situation he had going on last year takes hold of you a little bit and tugs at your emotions when you have a loss of a friend that you consider almost a brother. This year he's able to come in (with a) fresh mind to compete and do the job he ended up doing the latter part of the season." Anderson has struggled to draw walks at every level since High-A, and his 2.1-percent walk rate last season was a step down from the 3.0 percent mark he posted as a rookie in 2016. The subsequent low OBP generated by the lack of free passes makes him an unlikely candidate for a spot near the top of the order, though he was used as a leadoff option at times down the stretch last season. Despite his struggles, Anderson will get plenty of chances to build upon the .257/.276/.402 line he posted last season, which included 17 homers, 56 RBI, 72 runs, and a 15-for-16 mark as a basestealer. For his career, Anderson is 25-for-28 on the basepaths over 245 games with the White Sox, and his path to improvement on that front will require a more refined eye at the plate.
Sep 30 2017Anderson is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Indians.Anderson will receive a standard day off following 21 straight starts, while slashing .322/.337/.444 during that span. In his place, Tyler Saladino will pick up a start at shortstop.
Sep 25 2017Anderson went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 8-1 win over the Royals.Anderson extended his hitting streak to a career-high 15 games as he continues a surge that kicked off Aug. 1. During that run, he decided to bring back the speed to his game. Sunday's stolen base was his ninth over the last 17 games. Speed is an element of his game when he was in the minors, but Anderson got away from it once he hit the majors.
Sep 21 2017Anderson went 1-for-4 with a home run and a strikeout in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Astros. He extended his hitting streak to a career-high 12 games, as he continues his torrid close to the season. Anderson was hitting .232/.254/.347 on Aug. 1, and now he is slashing .263/.280/.417 with 17 home runs and 14 steals (on 15 attempts). His impressive tools have never been up for debate, but his approach still leaves a lot to be desired. Considering the way he is closing out his season, Anderson should enter 2018 as a strong power/speed target later in drafts.
Sep 18 2017Anderson's ninth-inning double broke up Matthew Boyd's no-hit bid in Sunday's 12-0 loss to the Tigers.Boyd snapped several White Sox's hitting streaks with only Anderson able to extend his to nine games. The 23-year-old shortstop is hitting .465 with five extra-base hits, five RBI and six steals over his streak.
Sep 16 2017Anderson has reintroduced a running game to his offense this month, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.Anderson had gone 72 games with just two attempted steals before swiping five bags in five attempts over the last nine games. Basestealing was a big part of his game in the minors -- Anderson stole 49 bases at Double-A Birmingham in 2015 -- and he said he got away from it in the majors for a variety of reasons. "Kind of got caught up in trying to impress when I got to the big leagues -- kind of lost focus with it and being not sure or kind of scared in certain spots, because I didn't want to get thrown out," he said. "Now it's just, 'So what if I get thrown out. Just go.'" With Anderson's power beginning to develop -- the 24-year-old has 16 home runs this season -- we're looking at a potential 20-20 man for the White Sox over the next several seasons.
Sep 15 2017Anderson went 3-for-7 with two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 17-7 win over the Tigers.Anderson's been raking since the beginning of August, slashing .315/.327/.549/.877 with seven home runs, 11 doubles, three triples and five stolen bases over 38 games. He's also played better defense of late, committing just four of his 26 errors since Aug. 2. Anderson attributes his turnaround to going to see a counselor, according to Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune. The young shortstop has been dealing with the shooting death of a close friend since early in the season and feels he's been freer since talking it out.
Sep 13 2017Anderson went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Royals.Anderson's doing his best to make fantasy owners forget about the first five months of his season, hitting a robust .405 (17-for-42) with six extra-base hits and four steals since the calendar flipped to September. His 16 home runs and 10 steals from the shortstop position signals a valuable fantasy asset. The damage has already been done in 2017, but it's encouraging to see him affirm the organization's belief that he can be a part of the rebuild process going forward.
Sep 11 2017Anderson went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, two stolen bases and a run scored in Sunday's 8-1 win over the Giants.Anderson is showing why the White Sox invested six years in him prior to the season, having gone 13-for-25 with five extra-base hits and three stolen bases over the last six games. His average is up to .252, its highest point since May 29. There's still some work to do on his plate approach -- he doesn't walk much, strikes out a lot and is susceptible to breaking stuff -- but as we close in on the end of the season, Anderson is on the verge of double-digit home runs and steals. That's a valuable fantasy asset at the middle-infield spot.
Sep 9 2017Anderson went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and another run scored Saturday in the White Sox's 13-1 win over the Giants.Anderson was one of six White Sox to clear the fences. He had gone 0-for-5 in his return Friday following a two-game absence due to illness. This was a nice turnaround performance, and he's now 11-for-29 with two homers to start September. Anderson's fantasy owners should continue riding the wave Sunday if he's in the lineup for the series finale.
Sep 8 2017Anderson (illness) was feeling better Thursday, but manager Rick Renteria decided to give the shortstop another day off, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.Anderson was scratched from Wednesday's game and with very little to play for this season, Renteria opted to five his young shortstop a second day. Anderson, who has multiple hits in three straight games, is hitting .247 entering Friday's game against the Giants.
Sep 8 2017Anderson (illness) is in Friday's lineup against the Giants.Anderson missed the past two games while dealing with an illness, but is back at shortstop batting in the leadoff position for Friday's series finale. Since the beginning of September, Anderson has gone 8-for-19 (.421 average) with one home run and three RBI.
Sep 7 2017Anderson (illness) is not in Thursday's lineup against the Indians.Anderson will miss a second straight contest while Tyler Saladino fills in at shortstop. Over his last three games, Anderson has gone 7-for-11 from the plate, and could be back in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Giants.
Sep 6 2017Anderson was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Indians due to an illness, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.Anderson is apparently feeling under the weather, so Tyler Saladino will slide into the starting lineup in his place. Consider Anderson day-to-day for now.
Sep 3 2017Anderson went 3-for-4 with a double, a solo home run, three RBI and two runs scored during Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.With a .243/.262/.395 slash line for the campaign, Anderson's fantasy value is limited to deep settings. However, Sunday's blast was his 15th of the campaign, and the White Sox are going to be rolling out an impressive collection of young talents sooner than later, so his long-term outlook remains favorable.
Sep 1 2017Anderson (hamstring) is starting at shortstop and leading off Friday against the Rays.He missed the last game with the hamstring issue, but will be back for this weekend's series. This will be his 10th time leading off since the start of August, as he fluctuates between the top spot and the bottom third of the order. Anderson is hitting .241/.255/.420 with five home runs and one steal in 162 at-bats since the All-Star break.
Aug 31 2017Anderson is not in the lineup against the Twins on Thursday.Anderson retreats to the bench following eight straight starting, going 7-for-31 (.226 average) at the plate during that span. Tyler Saladino draws the start in his place, while batting seventh in the order.
Aug 31 2017Anderson is not in Thursday's lineup due to a hamstring injury that he suffered Wednesday, Dan Hayes of Comcast Sports reports.Anderson should be back in Friday's starting nine, according to manager Rick Rentaria. He will get Thursday off to rest and should be considered day-to-day moving forward.
Aug 19 2017Anderson went 3-for-4 in Friday's 4-3 win over the Rangers.Anderson's three-hit night was his first since May 21, when his batting average reached a season-high .264. It's been a big struggle since then for the 23-year-old shortstop, but he's showed signs of a rebound in August. He's hit safely in 14 of the last 15 games, slashing .328/.348/.688/1.036 with five home runs, four doubles, two triples, 12 RBI and 10 runs scored over that stretch. Despite the productive run, Anderson remains very much a work in progress. He strikes out way too much and doesn't get on base enough, so plate discipline and pitch recognition should be the main areas of focus over the final six weeks of the season and into the offseason.
Aug 15 2017Anderson went 1-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers. He led off the game with a homer, taking Alex Wood's first pitch out to left-center field. The 24-year-old has hit left-handed pitching well throughout the season, and while he's struggled to a great extent against right-handers for much of the year, he's been showing some signs of improvement lately. The White Sox remain committed to Anderson being part of the rebuild.
Aug 13 2017Anderson went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer Sunday against the Royals.Anderson came in with a .315/.333/.441 line against lefties, and was once again promoted to the leadoff spot with southpaw Jason Vargas on the mound for Kansas City. He rewarded that decision with a long ball in the fifth inning, but that was ultimately far from enough in what ended as a lopsided 14-6 loss. The shortstop's affordability in daily formats makes him worth a look when facing left-handers.
Aug 12 2017Anderson went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in Friday's 6-3 win over Kansas City.Anderson has been a disappointment in 2017, but is teasing fantasy owners here in August. Over the last nine games, the 24-year-old shortstop is hitting .325 (13-for-40) with seven extra-base hits, including three homers, and eight RBI. The flip-side to those good numbers are his 15 strikeouts (37.5%) and zero walks during that stretch, suggesting Anderson still has some plate discipline issues to work through.
Aug 9 2017Anderson went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and an RBI double in a 7-1 win against the Astros on Wednesday. The two clubs were locked in a scoreless tie entering the bottom of the fifth, when Anderson opened the floodgates with his two-run shot. He's now hit safely in seven consecutive games, racking up a pair of long balls and three doubles during that span. Anderson was known almost exclusively for his speed in the minors -- the guy stole 49 bases while hitting only five home runs in Double-A just two years ago -- but through his first 199 MLB contests, he has more long balls (20) than steals (16). He's also struggled with his plate discipline, posting a whiff rate north of 27 percent and a walk rate under three percent, so the 24-year-old still has some work to do to become a steady fantasy asset.
Aug 6 2017Anderson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Red Sox.This has been one disappointing season for Anderson, who had gone 19 games in between home runs. During that stretch, he hit .197 (14-for-71) with just two RBI. After a nice rookie season in 2016, it appears the league has caught up to him, and he needs to make adjustments or have coaches that can help him react. On top of that, his defense (22 errors, -6.2 defensive runs saved, -10.5 UZR) has been league worst among shortstops. This is one messed up dude. Manager Rick Renteria certainly hasn't done him many favors, moving Anderson up and down the batting order instead of letting him get comfortable in one spot.
Jul 28 2017Anderson, who is struggling during his second season in MLB, is still viewed as part of the White Sox's rebuild, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. This season has been a difficult one for Anderson, who went 0-for-4 on Thursday and is hitting .239 through 88 games. One scout feels Anderson was rushed to the majors last season and is still figuring out the majors. Fantasy owners are certainly disappointed with Anderson but the White Sox are taking a longer view.
Jul 24 2017Anderson was not in the starting lineup for a second consecutive day Sunday, as manager Rick Renteria wanted to give the struggling young shortstop a "little mental break," Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.Renteria sat down with Anderson at length prior to Sunday's game and said the shortstop is "in as good a place as he can be right now." Anderson is currently mired in a 12-for-61 (.197) skid that has dropped his average to .243. It sounds like the young shortstop will be back in the lineup Monday, when the White Sox tangle with the crosstown-rival Cubs.
Jul 23 2017Anderson is out of the lineup Sunday against the Royals, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports. The White Sox aren't about to call it quits on Anderson in an everyday role while the team careens toward another losing season, but the young shortstop will hit the bench for a second straight game, perhaps as a result of his poor start to July (.226/.241/.358 batting line). The multi-game benching could be what Anderson needs to clear his head and adjust his approach at the dish, but fantasy owners waiting for the 23-year-old to break out should temper expectations. The .319 average he supplied in May looks to be an extreme outlier, as he's been under the .230 mark in every other month this season.
Jul 22 2017Anderson is not in the starting lineup Saturday against the Royals. The 24-year-old hasn't gotten a day off since June, so he'll give way to Tyler Saladino at shortstop Saturday. Anderson is hitting just .226 over his last 53 at-bats and has seen his OPS dip to .631 over the past couple weeks, so the routine day off could be a good chance to clear his head as well.
Jul 16 2017Anderson went 2-for-4 and committed his 20th error of the season in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Mariners.Manager Rick Renteria continues to preach patience with Anderson, who showed promise during his rookie season in 2016, but has experienced a noticeable offensive dropoff in 2017. Compounding the 24-year-old's struggles is his league-worst defense at shortstop, which doesn't mean much to those in fantasy circles, but could eventually eat into his playing time and be a contributing factor to his offense. There is not a ready replacement in the system and the White Sox have invested six years in Anderson, so Renteria will give him a long leash before making a change. Fantasy owners don't have to be as patient with him.
Jul 8 2017Anderson hit the game-winning home run Saturday against the Rockies, capping a 2-for-4 night. He parked it over the center field fence at Coors Field to earn his second blast in as many games. Anderson was recently stuck in a 2-for-25 slide. Of course, this park has a tendency to cure slumps. While it's promising to see his power return, it's best to put off trusting him fully in most mixed formats until he shows more consistency in less advantageous settings.
Jul 7 2017Anderson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Friday's loss to Colorado. The young shortstop is providing modest production in the counting stats (eight homers, 27 RBI, 35 runs and five stolen bases) because of his consistent at-bats, but his .239/.263/.361 slash line affirms his mediocrity. Anderson is best left to deep formats
Jul 2 2017Anderson went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Saturday's 10-4 loss to the Rangers.Anderson was back in the lineup after a two-day absence designed to clear his head but he remains in a deep funk. The 24-year-old shortstop has two hits in his last 25 at-bats (.080) with nine strikeouts (34.6 K%). Anderson's undergoing adversity during his second season and it's up to him to adjust. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like he's going to figure it out anytime soon.
Jun 30 2017Anderson is not in the lineup Friday against the Rangers.Anderson will take a seat for the second straight game as he tries to clear his head. The 24-year-old has struggled both at the plate and in the field recently, committing three errors (he leads all shortstops with 18) over his past eight contests while slashing just .133/.129/.267 over that same span. Alen Hanson and Yolmer Sanchez will again fill the middle of the White Sox's infield in his absence.
Jun 29 2017Anderson is not in Thursday's lineup against the Yankees.Anderson will get the day off after starting the past 14 games. During that span, the shortstop is batting just .204/.241/.315 with one home run, seven RBI and three runs. In his place, Yolmer Sanchez slides over to short while Alen Hanson takes the keystone.
Jun 27 2017Anderson said after Monday's loss to the Yankees that he plans to wear corrective lenses for the remainder of the season, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports.Anderson inquired about additional eye testing beyond what a team normally offers a couple of weeks ago and has been getting used to the lenses since purchasing them. The 24-year-old shortstop has struggled all season but offered a glimmer of hope during Monday's loss when he had two hits and a three-run home run.
Jun 27 2017Anderson wore corrective eyeglasses for the first time Monday and went 2-for-5 with a three-run opposite field home run in a 6-5 loss to the Yankees, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.Anderson downplayed the use of eyeglasses but it was good to see some life in the shortstop's bat. He hadn't homered in the previous 22 games, a stretch in which he hit .235/.267/.306 with just seven RBI. The promise hinted at last season is nowhere to be found in 2017. Perhaps the goggles will give him a better view of the increased amount of sliders Anderson's been seeing this season and spur a turnaround.
Jun 24 2017Anderson went 0-for-2 before he was ejected from Friday's 3-0 loss to the Athletics for arguing an umpire's ruling.Anderson chopped a ball at home plate that he thought was foul but was ruled fair and he was subsequently tagged out while standing still in the batter's box. His plea to home plate umpire Jim Wolf resulted in the first ejection of Anderson's career.
Jun 22 2017Anderson is leading off and playing shortstop Thursday against the Twins, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.Anderson will stare down Twins left-hander Nik Turley, so Chicago moved him up in the lineup to get a platoon advantage. This makes him a more valuable start today for the likelihood of an extra plate appearance.
Jun 13 2017Anderson is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Orioles.Anderson is starting to figure things out at the plate, although he'll get a night off after 17 straight starts at shortstop. Yolmer Sanchez will slide over to fill in for him at short while Adam Frazier picks up a start at the keystone to round out the infield.
May 31 2017Anderson went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 13-7 loss to the Red Sox.Manager Rick Renteria continues to move Anderson up and down the batting order but the shortstop's been very comfortable in the seven-hole. In nine games as the seventh-place hitter, Anderson is 16-for-35 (.457, 1.358 OPS) with four homers and seven RBI. He's enjoyed a good month of May, bouncing back from and awful April when he primarily hit leadoff or second. We'd like to see Renteria let Anderson build momentum down the order and not try to force him into being something he's not yet ready to be.
May 29 2017Anderson will start at shortstop and lead off for the White Sox in Monday's game against the Red Sox.Anderson has served as the White Sox's leadoff hitter on five other occasions in May, but had been batting out of the No. 5 spot over each of the previous five games. The shortstop's move upward in the lineup is likely just a result of Leury Garcia getting the afternoon off, so it's not expected that manager Rick Renteria has any plans to permanently stop using Anderson in the heart of the order.
May 21 2017Anderson went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 8-1 victory over the Mariners.Anderson had a rough month of April by hitting .204, but he's certainly hearing up in the month of May, and three of his five long balls have come in the season's second month. Those who stayed patient with the 23-year-old have to be excited that he's starting to turn things around, and he's been much more successful with less pressure hitting in the bottom third of Chicago's batting order.
May 20 2017Anderson returned to the leadoff spot Friday and went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in the White Sox's 2-1 win over the Mariners. With Leury Garica, Chicago's latest leadoff hitter, out of the starting lineup due to an elbow bruise, manager Rick Renteria couldn't resist moving a hot-hitting Anderson back to the top of the order. Anderson entered Friday's game riding a seven-game hitting streak, all of which came with him batting in the bottom third of the order, mostly in the seven-hole. It was the first prolonged stretch of success for the 23-year-old shortstop this season, and we're a bit flummoxed why Renteria would mess with that. At any rate, Garcia entered Friday's game as a pinch runner and played an inning in center field, so perhaps the batting order will be restored Saturday.
May 19 2017Anderson went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and two runs scored in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Mariners.Anderson's first April in the majors didn't go so well, but he's turned a corner, having hit safely in seven straight games. That includes multiple hits in the last four and extra-base hits in the last three. Perhaps removing the pressure of batting at the top of the order has helped fuel his turnaround. Anderson has taken a shine to hitting out of the seven-hole, where he's 11-for-23 with just four strikeouts in six games.
May 17 2017Anderson returned to the lineup Tuesday after missing four games and went 2-for-4 with a home run in a 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Angels.Anderson was primed to be the hero when his third homer of the season in the top of 11th gave the White Sox the lead in extras, but it wasn't meant to be. Prior to being away from the team over the weekend, Anderson had been in and out of the lineup and dropped from the top of the batting order to the seven-hole. Through it all, the struggling young shortstop has hit in five straight contests with multiple hits in three of them. There are still holes in his plate approach, but there are hopeful signs. During Anderson's five-game hit streak, which has pushed his average to .230, he's struck out just three times in 21 at-bats, well below his 23.5 strikeout percentage for the season.
May 16 2017Anderson (personal) is back in action Tuesday against the Angels, batting seventh and playing shortstop.Anderson was initially expected to return to the lineup Monday after missing the weekend series to attend a funeral, but he'll get back with the team just a day later. He'll resume his normal spot in the order and should be a mainstay in the lineup barring any extraneous circumstances.
May 15 2017Anderson (personal) is not in the lineup Monday against the Angels.Anderson was expected to be back with the team for the start of their series in Anaheim, but it seems like his personal leave is taking a bit longer than initially expected. He could be back in the lineup Tuesday, but in the meantime, Tyler Saladino will pick up another start at shortstop.
May 12 2017Anderson was scheduled to leave the White Sox on Friday morning to attend the funeral of his close friend over the weekend, and he'll rejoin them Monday for their road series against the Angels, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports.Anderson's friend Branden Moss, who was the godfather of Anderson's daughter, was shot and killed Sunday near the University of Alabama while reportedly trying to help an assault victim outside of a bar. It's uncertain if the White Sox will put him on the bereavement list, which per the rules applies to a "death or serious illness in [the player's] family." After the services, Anderson will meet up with Chicago for the start of their stint in Anaheim.
