ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Alexis Diaz has made just three appearances this spring due to injury and was roughed up his last time out. The Reds will have him pitch in a minor-league game Tuesday as he works on his issues. With Diaz's status looking shaky, Rogers, Emilio Pagan, Tony Santillan and perhaps others could have an opportunity to stake claim on the Cincinnati closer job. Rogers has the most ninth-inning experience of the bunch and performed well last season with the Giants, posting a 2.40 ERA and 64:22 K:BB over 60 innings.
Jan 29 2025The Reds acquired Rogers and cash considerations from the Giants on Wednesday in exchange for Braxton Roxby, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rogers' strikeout rate dipped to 25.7 percent in 2024, but he still had a very good season in collecting a 2.40 ERA and 64:22 K:BB over 60 innings. The left-hander instantly becomes the Reds' best left-handed setup man and a candidate to take over at closer if Alexis Diaz isn't able to bounce back from his rough 2024 campaign.
Aug 28 2024The Giants placed Rogers on waivers Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rogers has been a solid piece of San Francisco's bullpen this season, posting a 2.45 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 51.1 innings. However, in an effort to shed payroll, the Giants will now allow any other team to take him in, as long as they are willing to pay the remaining $2 million left on his salary this year and the $12 million he's owed in 2025. If no other club is willing to take in the additional salary, Rogers will simply remain with the Giants.
Aug 13 2024Rogers (1-4) allowed an unearned run on one hit and struck out one over one inning, taking the extra-inning loss Monday versus Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rogers gave up the lone run of the game on a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning. The southpaw is at a 3.77 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 19:3 K:BB with three holds through 14.1 innings overall.

He had plenty of struggles early in the season, but he's finding a bit more success without a late-innings role. The reliever has a 4.73 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 11:9 K:BB with a save and two holds through 13.1 innings overall.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rogers received a cortisone shot in his left knee last weekend and was unavailable through Tuesday's game against the Rays as a result. He was available both for Wednesday's series finale and for Friday's series opener against the Cardinals but didn't make an appearance in either contest. He should get into a game soon, however, as he doesn't have any structural damage per Rosiak.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Devin Williams was also unavailable due to a recent heavy workload, so it was Matt Bush that was called upon for the save opportunity Tuesday. Rogers has appeared in two games since joining the Brewers and has given up one run on two hits with three strikeouts and a walk over two innings. The left-hander is expected to be available in the near future, though the team could opt to hold him out again Wednesday since Milwaukee has a scheduled day off Thursday.
Aug 1 2022The Brewers acquired Rogers, left-hander Robert Gasser, right-hander Dinelson Lamet and outfielder Esteury Ruiz from the Padres on Monday in exchange for left-hander Josh Hader, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rogers will be on the move for the second time this season after the Padres acquired him from the Twins on Opening Day with the hope that he would add stability to the ninth inning. Though he had a promising start to the campaign, Rogers was ultimately removed from the role last week after blowing two saves and allowing runs in each of his final three appearances in San Diego. The Padres quickly found an upgrade at the back end of the bullpen in Hader, but Rogers could recapture the closer's gig with his new team if the Brewers aren't eager to elevate ace setup man Devin Williams to the ninth-inning role. Until the Brewers clarify their bullpen plans in the post-Hader era, Rogers is worth holding in most leagues. Despite losing out on the job in San Diego, Rogers still converted 28 of his 35 save chances on the season and sported decent underlying ratios (2.35 FIP, 3.36 xFIP, 22.4 K-BB%).
