Jun 26 2025Conforto is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Colorado. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-swinging Conforto homered in each of the first two games of the series, but he'll take a seat in the finale as the Rockies send southpaw Austin Gomber to the hill. Enrique Hernandez will cover left field and bat eighth as the Dodgers go for the sweep.
Jun 25 2025Conforto went 2-for-5 with a double and a three-run home run during Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto notched his fifth home run of the season, tagging German Marquez for a three-run shot in the fourth inning. The outfielder notched his first multi-hit game since May 27. In 258 plate appearances this season, Conforto is slashing .171/.298/.290 with 28 runs scored and 16 RBI.
Jun 19 2025Conforto isn't in the lineup against the Padres on Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto is on the bench for the second consecutive night with Andy Pages, Hyeseong Kim and Teoscar Hernandez starting in the outfield again. Manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Conforto is still going to make regular starts, but Kim may see increased time in the lineup, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Jun 18 2025Conforto is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Padres on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Andy Pages, Hyeseong Kim and Teoscar Hernandez will start in the outfield from left to right while Conforto begins the game on the bench. Conforto has gone 6-for-40 (.150) with one home run and four RBI since the beginning of June.
Jun 12 2025Conforto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-2 win over San Diego. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto got the Dodgers on the board in the fifth inning, smacking an opposite-field homer off Randy Vasquez to tie the game 1-1. After a rough start to the season, Conforto has picked things up a bit at the plate recently, logging a hit in five of his last six games. The outfielder is still slashing just .175/.314/.286 through 229 plate appearances this year with four homers, 12 RBI and 25 runs scored.
Jun 9 2025Conforto is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Padres on Monday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Even with right-hander Nick Pivetta taking the hill for the Padres, the lefty-hitting Conforto will begin Monday's game on the bench while Andy Pages, Hyeseong Kim and Teoscar Hernandez man the outfield from left to right. Conforto has gone 3-for-22 with two RBI over his last eight games.
Jun 1 2025Conforto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With southpaw Ryan Yarbrough on the hill for the Yankees, the left-handed-hitting Conforto will give way to Andy Pages in left field for the series finale. Conforto went 1-for-5 with three walks in the first two games of the series and is now slashing just .173/.318/.284 on the season. He could soon be in danger of losing out on regular starts against right-handed pitching, especially with rookie Hyeseong Kim (1.058 OPS in 48 plate appearances) beginning to build a case for earning more playing time.
May 28 2025Conforto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo homer Tuesday in Cleveland but will sit Wednesday against southpaw Kolby Allard. The veteran outfielder has yet to get on track at the plate in 2025 and has a .172/.312/.287 slash line and 28.6 percent strikeout rate through 189 plate appearances.
May 13 2025Conforto went 3-for-4 with three doubles in Tuesday's 11-1 loss to the Athletics. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto and Will Smith combined for six of the Dodgers' eight hits in the game. There's signs of life in Conforto's bat -- he's 6-for-10 with four doubles over his last three games. That short productive stretch has raised his average from .134 to .172, and he's added just a .590 OPS so far in 2025. The veteran outfielder also has two home runs, six RBI, 18 runs scored, eight doubles and a stolen base across 145 plate appearances. Despite his poor hitting, he remains in a starting role in left field, though he may cede some at-bats versus left-handed pitchers if he can't get up to a more acceptable level.
Apr 7 2025Conforto is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The left-handed hitting Conforto will begin the series opener on the bench as the Nationals send southpaw MacKenzie Gore to the bump. Conforto has now started four of seven games versus lefties this season. Chris Taylor will occupy left field Monday.
Apr 6 2025Conforto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-1 win against Philadelphia. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto capped the scoring in the contest with a sixth-inning solo shot. The veteran outfielder has enjoyed a strong start to his tenure with the Dodgers, slashing .308/.419/.692 with two homers, five RBI, six runs and a 5:7 BB:K through 31 plate appearances. Conforto appears to be more than a platoon option for Los Angeles, as he started the team's most recent game against a left-handed pitcher.
Apr 3 2025Conforto went 2-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and three total runs in a 6-5 win against Atlanta on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto's most memorable contribution to the victory was his solo shot to center field in the fourth inning, which was the first homer of his Dodgers tenure. However, the veteran outfielder was key in other ways as well -- he reached base in all four of his plate appearances and scored two additional times, including in the eighth inning to help spark the team's comeback. Conforto has fit in comfortably after joining Los Angeles during the offseason, as he's slashing .368/.500/.737 with a 5:6 BB:K and four RBI through 24 plate appearances on the campaign.
Apr 1 2025Conforto is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Southpaw Chris Sale has the start for Atlanta on Tuesday, so lefty-hitting Conforto will take a seat. With the 32-year-old on the bench, Chris Taylor gets his first start of the 2025 season in left field.
Mar 27 2025Conforto isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Conforto will take a seat for the start of the Dodgers' stateside schedule with formidable southpaw Tarik Skubal set to start on the hill for Detroit. Andy Pages will move over to left field as a result, putting Tommy Edman in center field and Miguel Rojas at the keystone.
Mar 18 2025Conforto will start in left field and bat seventh Tuesday against the Cubs in the first game of the Tokyo Series. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto was initially slated to begin Tuesday's regular-season opener on the bench with a lefty (Shota Imanaga) on the mound for Chicago. However, Conforto will end up replacing Freddie Freeman, who has been scratched for undisclosed reasons, as Enrique Hernandez moves in from left field to cover first base.
Mar 8 2025Conforto went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two total runs and three total RBI In a Cactus League win over Seattle on Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto opened the scoring Friday with a two-run double in the third inning, and he added a solo shot to right field in the fifth. The veteran outfielder has had a nice spring, putting together a .304/.407/.609 slash line with four doubles, a homer, four runs and three RBI. Conforto is slated to play regularly in left field this season after signing a one-year, $17 million contract in early December.
Dec 8 2024Conforto signed a one-year, $17 million contract with the Dodgers on Sunday, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will head to Los Angeles after batting .237 with 20 home runs, 66 RBI and 56 runs scored over 130 games with the Giants in 2024. The Dodgers were reportedly looking to secure a left-handed outfielder, and they appear to have found their guy in Conforto. The 31-year-old had some intriguing batting splits in 2024, producing a .284 average with six homers and 20 RBI over 95 at-bats versus lefties, so Conforto may not be limited to a platoon role in 2025.
Sep 28 2024Conforto isn't in the Giants' lineup Saturday versus the Cardinals, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has gone 7-for-20 with two homers and four RBI over the course of his five-game hitting streak, but he'll take a seat Saturday, allowing Jerar Encarnacion to serve as San Francisco's DH and bat fifth.
Sep 25 2024Conforto went 1-for-5 with a three-run homer in Tuesday's win over the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto put his stamp on the game with a three-run blast in the third to put the Giants up 4-0. He's now homered four times over his last six games while racking up seven RBI over that span and reached 20 homers in a season for the first time since 2019. The 31-year-old is now slashing .234/.305/.451 with 50 extra-base hits, 66 RBI, 54 runs and a 41:117 BB:K in 476 plate appearances.
Sep 23 2024Conforto went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Monday's 6-3 win over the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has found his power with three homers over his last five games, going 8-for-21 (.381) in that span. The outfielder is seeing steady playing time between designated hitter and left field since the Giants have faced a lot of right-handed pitchers lately, though it was lefty Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound for Arizona on Monday. For the season, Conforto is up to a .234/.306/.447 slash line, 19 homers, 63 RBI, 53 runs scored, 26 doubles and three triples over 126 games, his most games played since 2019.
Sep 22 2024Conforto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will get a breather for the series finale after going 7-for-21 with two home runs, five RBI and three runs while starting in each of the Giants' last five games. Jerar Encarnacion will fill in for Conforto as San Francisco's designated hitter.
Sep 19 2024Conforto went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto's playing time has been on the rise lately. He's driven in six runs over his last four games while going 6-for-13 with two homers in that span. The outfielder's improved hitting has put pressure on Jerar Encarnacion for playing time at designated hitter versus right-handed pitchers. Conforto's season has been a mixed bag -- his 18 homers are his most since 2019, but he's slashing just .234/.308/.441 with 62 RBI, 51 runs scored, 25 doubles and three triples over 123 games.
Sep 18 2024Conforto went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The performance marked Conforto's first three-hit game since Aug. 4 (34 games). Conforto's homer total of 17 is his best since 2019, and he's slashing .232/.306/.433 through 454 plate appearances this season.
Sep 15 2024Conforto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Saturday's contest, but he'll hit the bench Sunday for the fourth time in five games. The 31-year-old has a .560 OPS through nine games in September, and the soon-to-be free agent could see his playing time continue to dry up down the stretch with San Francisco 9.5 games back of the final wild-card spot.
Sep 12 2024Conforto isn't in the Giants' lineup Thursday versus Milwaukee, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has gone 5-for-19 with a home run and three runs scored across his last five games, but he'll sit down for a second consecutive contest Thursday. His absence will allow Jerar Encarnacion to serve as San Francisco's designated hitter and bat sixth.
Sep 11 2024Conforto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's likely just a maintenance day for Conforto, who started the previous six games and went 5-for-22 with a double and a homer during that stretch. Jerar Encarnacion is batting sixth as the designated hitter versus Milwaukee righty Colin Rea.
Sep 6 2024Conforto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto took Michael King deep in the sixth inning, but that was the lone run for the Giants. Over his last nine games, Conforto has gone 7-for-29 (.241) with two homers, three RBI and two doubles. He's up to a .230/.308/.437 slash line with 16 homers, 56 RBI, 47 runs scored, 25 doubles, three triples and no stolen bases over 115 contests this season.
Sep 4 2024Conforto (side) will serve as the Giants' designated hitter and bat third Wednesday against Arizona, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Side tightness caused the Giants to scratch Conforto from their lineup ahead of Tuesday's contest, but the issue appears to have subsided prior to Wednesday's game. The 31-year-old has gone 5-for-34 with two home runs and four RBI across his last 10 games.
Sep 3 2024Conforto was scratched from the Giants' lineup ahead of Tuesday's game versus Arizona due to side tightness, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The team expects Conforto to return to the lineup Wednesday, so the decision to hold him out Tuesday appears to be precautionary. While he sits, Jerar Encarnacion will work as San Francisco's designated hitter and bat sixth.
Sep 1 2024Conforto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to Miami. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto went hitless in his first two at-bats before recording a single and a home run in his final two trips to the plate. The long ball was his 15th of the campaign and his fifth in August, during which he batted .259 with 15 RBI and 12 runs scored. The outfielder has now hit safely in two of his last three games, posting two extra-base hits, two RBI and two runs over that stretch.
Aug 23 2024Conforto went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Mariners. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has gone yard twice over his last five games, accounting for half of his hits in that span. The 31-year-old has most often served as the designated hitter when the Giants face right-handed pitchers since Grant McCray's promotion from Triple-A Sacramento pushed Heliot Ramos over to Conforto's former spot in left field. He's also been on the bench more often versus southpaws in August. Conforto has offered decent power this year with 14 homers and a .444 slugging percentage through 104 contests, but he's batting just .237 with 53 RBI and 40 runs scored.
Aug 21 2024Conforto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With southpaw Garrett Crochet toeing the rubber for the White Sox, the lefty-hitting Conforto will head to the bench in the series finale. Casey Schmitt will replace Conforto in the lineup as the Giants' designated hitter.
Aug 19 2024Conforto went 1-for-1 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Athletics. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto entered the game as a pinch hitter in the 10th and extended the Giants' lead with a solo blast off Dany Jimenez. The home run was his third this month but just his second extra-base hit since Aug. 6. He's hitting just .190 with 10 strikeouts over his last 26 plate appearances and the home run was his first RBI since Aug. 9. For the year, Conforto is slashing .236/.317/.439 with 13 homers, 51 RBI, 39 runs and a 36:90 BB:K in 372 plate appearances.
Aug 15 2024Conforto is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will hit the bench for the second time in the series while Atlanta sends another southpaw in Max Fried to the bump. Jerar Encarnacion will spell Conforto in left field.
Aug 12 2024Conforto is not in the lineup for Monday's contest versus Atlanta, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Atlanta is sending left-hander Chris Sale to the hill, so the left-handed hitting Conforto will begin this one on the bench. Jerar Encarnacion will patrol left field and Marco Luciano will be the designated hitter.
Aug 6 2024Conforto went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, a double and a walk in Tuesday's 11-5 loss to the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has at least one extra-base hit in each of his last four games, and he's logged multiple hits in three of those contests. The homer was his second of August, which has already been a better power month for the outfielder than July (one homer in 24 games). Conforto is at a .236/.313/.442 slash line with 12 homers, 46 RBI, 34 runs scored, 22 doubles, two triples and no stolen bases over 90 contests this season, and he's worth checking on in fantasy while he's on a roll. Despite his inconsistency at the plate this year, he's been a near-everyday player in left field when healthy.
Aug 4 2024Conforto went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and one run scored in Sunday's 8-2 win over the Reds. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto had just three multi-hit games in July, but he's already got two through three contests in August. The outfielder has gone 9-for-32 (.281) across his last 10 contests, adding a home run, four doubles and four RBI in that span. He's up to a .231/.305/.424 slash line, 11 home runs, 20 doubles, 43 RBI, 32 runs scored and no stolen bases over 88 games in 2024.
Aug 3 2024Conforto went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Reds on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto belted a solo shot to left field in the seventh inning for San Francisco's second run of the game. Coming into Saturday, the veteran outfielder had been stuck at 10 homers since July 7, a span of 19 contests during which he batted .138 with just five RBI. Conforto went deep a career-high 33 times in 2019 but hasn't belted more than 15 homers in a season since.
Jul 26 2024Conforto is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With the Rockies sending southpaw Kyle Freeland to the mound Friday, Conforto will retreat to the dugout to begin the contest. Conforto sat Thursday against the Dodgers with Clayton Kershaw on the mound, but the former did pinch hit for Derek Hill in the sixth inning and went 1-for-2 with an RBI double in the eighth inning. Hill will start in left field Friday and bat ninth.
Jul 25 2024Conforto isn't in the Giants' lineup for Thursday's game against the Dodgers, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With southpaw Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) slated to take the mound for the first time this season, the lefty-hitting Conforto will take a seat on the bench to begin Thursday's contest. Derek Hill will fill the open spot in left field while batting ninth.
Jul 20 2024Conforto isn't in the Giants' lineup for Saturday's game versus the Rockies, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Conforto will retreat to the bench Saturday as the Giants match up against the left-handed Kyle Freeland. As a result, Luis Matos, Heliot Ramos and Mike Yastrzemski will start across San Francisco's outfield.
Jul 7 2024Conforto went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's loss to Cleveland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto opened the scoring with a two-run shot in the second inning and later brought home a run with an RBI groundout in the ninth. It was his first home run since June 26 and just the second over his last 25 appearances. Conforto is slashing .240/.306/.450 with 35 RBI and 26 extra-base hits through 67 games.
Jul 6 2024Conforto is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Cleveland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will avoid Guardians southpaw Logan Allen for Saturday's contest, with Austin Slater starting in left field and batting second. In Friday's series opener, Conforto went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI in the 4-2 win.
Jul 3 2024Conforto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: As per usual, Conforto will retreat to the bench with a southpaw (Chris Sale) on the mound. Luis Matos, Heliot Ramos and Austin Slater will fill the outfield from left to right.
Jun 30 2024Conforto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With southpaw James Paxton toeing the slab for the Dodgers, the lefty-hitting Conforto will be given the afternoon off. Luis Matos will fill in for Conforto in left field.
Jun 27 2024Conforto is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Conforto will hit the bench for the second time in the series as the Cubs send southpaw Shota Imanaga to the hill. The Giants will go with the right-handed-hitting Austin Slater in left field in place of Conforto, who had plated at least one run in four of his last five games.
Jun 22 2024Conforto went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Saturday's 9-4 loss to the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has struggled mightily since returning from a hamstring injury. He's gone 6-for-55 (.109) over 16 games in June, a stretch poor enough to cost him an everyday role in left field -- he's been operating as a strong-side platoon player over the last couple of weeks. The outfielder is at a .232/.290/.409 slash line with eight home runs, 25 RBI, 22 runs scored and no stolen bases across 214 plate appearances.
Jun 18 2024Conforto is not in the starting lineup Tuesday versus the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will head to the bench as the Giants square off with southpaw Justin Steele. Austin Slater will take over in left field and bat leadoff against Chicago.
Jun 15 2024Conforto is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's matchup with the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will take a seat as the team faces left-hander Patrick Sandoval on the mound. Austin Slater will enter the lineup in left field and bat leadoff against Los Angeles.
Jun 12 2024Conforto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto's streak of five consecutive starts will come to an end Wednesday while the lefty-hitting outfielder heads to the bench in a day game after a night game with a left-hander (Framber Valdez) on the hill for Houston. Austin Slater will enter the lineup in Conforto's place in left field and will bat leadoff.
Jun 7 2024Conforto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Friday's 5-2 win over the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Rangers tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth inning, but Conforto's seventh-inning blast put the Giants ahead for good. The outfielder has slumped since returning from a hamstring injury, going 2-for-14 over four contests, but his long ball Friday could spark his bat. Overall, he's at a .268/.324/.478 slash line with eight homers, 22 RBI, 21 runs scored, seven doubles, one triple and no stolen bases through 42 games. Conforto should continue to see a starting role in left field, though he could be squeezed out of the lineup versus some southpaws to accommodate the red-hot Heliot Ramos.
Jun 5 2024Conforto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Conforto will hit the bench for the day game after a night game while Arizona brings a lefty (Jordan Montgomery) to the hill. After returning from the injured list Monday, Conforto started in left field in both of the first two games of the series, going 0-for-8 with a walk and three strikeouts.
Jun 3 2024The Giants reinstated Conforto (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto appeared in two rehab games with Triple-A Sacramento over the weekend, going 1-for-5 with one walk and one strikeout. Conforto was slashing .324/.410/.588 with two home runs and four RBI in May before landing on the injured list due to a right hamstring strain. Conforto is starting in left field Monday and batting in the cleanup spot against Diamondbacks right-hander Ryne Nelson, per Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area.
May 31 2024Conforto (hamstring) will begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto continues to work his way through a right hamstring strain that he sustained May 11 against the Reds. Before landing on the IL, Conforto was slashing .280/.331/.490 with seven home runs and 20 RBI over 154 plate appearances. If all goes well, he may only need a few rehab appearances before being activated.
May 27 2024Conforto (hamstring) could begin a rehab assignment later this week, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto was cleared to resume baseball activities last week as he works his way back from a right hamstring strain, although it's uncertain whether he's done any running yet. He's been on the shelf for a little more than two weeks and shouldn't need too many rehab games before being activated, assuming all goes well.
May 21 2024Conforto (hamstring) has been cleared to take on-field batting practice, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto landed on the 10-day injured list just over a week ago a right hamstring strain. Taking batting practice is certainly a positive step in his recovery, although running will be a bigger hurdle for him to clear and it's uncertain when he might be ready for that. Conforto is eligible for activation Wednesday, but it would appear he'll need a little more time than that.
May 12 2024The Giants placed Conforto on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a right hamstring strain. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After Conforto left in the fourth inning of Saturday's win against the Reds, the hope was that the right hamstring strain was mild enough for the 31-year-old to be considered day-to-day. The MRI on Sunday revealed a more severe strain, and Conforto will be sidelined until at least May 22. In a corresponding move, the Giants recalled Luis Matos from Triple-A Sacremento.
May 11 2024Conforto has been diagnosed with a strained right hamstring, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: For what it's worth, Giants manager Bob Melvin said of the strain that "it feels mild," but more will be known after Conforto undergoes an MRI on Sunday. Luis Matos was pulled mid-game from Triple-A Sacramento's contest Saturday and would appear poised to take Conforto's roster spot if a move is needed.
May 9 2024Conforto went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Thursday in a loss to the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto accounted for San Francisco's only run with a solo shot to left field in the fourth inning. It was his second homer in as many days following a 12-game stretch without a long ball. Conforto's power has run hot and cold this season -- he went deep three times over his first five games of the campaign, then homered just twice over his subsequent 29 contests before his current two-game long-ball streak.
Apr 22 2024Conforto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run Monday in a 5-2 win against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto scored San Francisco's first run after singling in the second inning, and he accounted for the team's final tally with a solo shot to right field in the sixth. The performance snapped a nine-game stretch during which the veteran batted just .171 and failed to register a multi-hit effort. Despite that cold snap, Conforto has started the season well, posting a .271/.311/.506 slash line with five homers, 16 RBI and 13 runs through 90 plate appearances.
Apr 17 2024Conforto is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Miami, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Southpaw Trevor Rogers will take the hill for the Marlins, so the left-handed-hitting Conforto will get a day off. Tyler Fitzgerald will get the start in left field for the Giants.
Apr 15 2024Conforto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 9-4 loss to the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has gone 4-for-20 with two extra-base hits, three RBI and four strikeouts over five games since he recovered from a minor side issue. He's retained a starting role in left field despite the cooldown after a strong start to the campaign. The veteran outfielder is slashing .298/.355/.596 with four homers, 13 RBI, 10 runs scored and five doubles through 62 plate appearances. He was also caught stealing on his only attempt of the year so far.
Apr 9 2024Conforto is back in the lineup Tuesday versus the Nationals, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto was not in Monday's lineup due to a minor side issue. As a likely precaution, the outfielder did not start and did not come off the bench. As expected, he returns to the lineup in left field and batting cleanup.
Apr 8 2024Conforto isn't in Monday's lineup against the Nationals due to a minor side issue, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Giants are likely holding Conforto out of the lineup as a precaution, and Slusser notes that Conforto could be available to pinch hit Monday if needed. The club expects its starting left fielder to be back in the starting nine for Tuesday's clash.
Apr 5 2024Conforto went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI in Friday's 3-2 win over the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto knocked in the Giants' first run with an RBI double in the first inning. The outfielder has been held hitless in just one of eight games so far, which has helped him stake his claim to a starting job in left field. He's batting .419 with three home runs, four doubles, 10 RBI and eight runs scored across 33 plate appearances. Conforto's strong hitting out of the gate has seen him move up to the cleanup spot over the last three games.
Apr 2 2024Conforto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Dodgers in Monday's loss. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto had the only extra-base hit of the game for San Francisco, belting a solo homer to right field in the sixth inning. The veteran outfielder has started his second season in San Francisco well, reaching base in each of the team's five games to date and homering three times over that span. Conforto averaged a modest 14.5 long balls over the past two campaigns, but he's well on pace to exceed that given his hot start so far.
Mar 30 2024Conforto went 2-for-4 with a double and a grand slam in Saturday's 9-6 win over the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto's second career grand slam broke the game open in the eighth inning. Left-handed reliever Tom Cosgrove surrendered the home run to Conforto, who had just a .598 OPS and 29:3 K:BB against lefties last season. The outfielder has already popped two home runs in his team's first three games.
Mar 29 2024Conforto went 3-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and two additional runs scored during Thursday's loss to the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto tagged closer Robert Suarez for a solo homer with two outs in the ninth inning and fell one triple shy of an Opening Day cycle. Tabbed as the Giants' everyday left fielder, Conforto should have ample opportunity to make fantasy contributions after slashing .239/.334/.384 with 58 runs scored and 58 RBI in 2023.
Feb 19 2024Conforto is expected to handle an everyday role in left field, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Prior to the Jorge Soler signing, Conforto was projected as the designated hitter, but that has changed. It's still early in spring training, and there's a chance another outfielder could infringe on Conforto's role, namely Luis Matos. Blake Sabol also played some left field in 2023, but for now, it's Conforto's job to lose.
Feb 2 2024Conforto is in line to serve as the Giants' primary designated hitter in 2024, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: San Francisco wants to improve its outfield defense, which led to the signing of Jung Hoo Lee and its apparent plan to use Luis Matos in left field and Conforto at DH, at least against righties. Conforto made 104 of his 115 starts last year in the outfield but finished in the 22nd percentile in Outs Above Average, per Baseball Savant.
Nov 6 2023Conforto exercised his $18 million player option for 2024 on Monday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto missed all of the 2022 season following shoulder surgery and didn't have the bounce-back 2023 campaign that he envisioned, slashing just .239/.334/.384 with 15 home runs over 125 games. As such, he will opt into the one year remaining on his deal with the Giants and hope to play his way into a multi-year pact next winter.
Sep 30 2023Conforto will hit the bench Saturday against the Dodgers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will join the rest of the team's left-handed bats on the bench against Clayton Kershaw. Heliot Ramos will take over in left field.
Sep 25 2023Conforto isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against San Diego, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will take a seat Monday evening with the Giants slated to face off against lefty Blake Snell. Heliot Ramos gets the nod in right field and is set to bat eighth in Conforto's stead.
Sep 23 2023Conforto isn't in the Giants' lineup Saturday against the Dodgers, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Conforto will sit as the Dodgers send the lefty-throwing Clayton Kershaw to the mound. The Giants will send out Austin Slater, Tyler Fitzgerald and Luis Matos to start across the outfield Saturday.
Sep 22 2023Conforto is absent from the lineup Friday against the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has gone 2-for-19 (.105) with four strikeouts since returning last Friday from a three-week absence to heal a Grade 2 left hamstring strain. Mitch Haniger, Tyler Fitzgerald and Mike Yastrzemski will start across the outfield Friday as Austin Slater fills the DH role.
Sep 16 2023Conforto will be on the bench for the evening portion of Saturday's doubleheader against Colorado, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto went 0-for-1 with two walks in the afternoon game but was lifted for pinch hitter Mitch Haniger against lefty Evan Justice in the seventh inning. Haniger wound up grounding into a double play but will nonetheless take over in right field for the night game with another lefty (Kyle Freeland) starting for the Rockies.
Sep 15 2023Conforto (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto had been set to return Thursday before that game got rained out. He'll return Friday instead and will get to play in Coors Field for his first series back. Conforto missed three weeks of action with a strained left hamstring and is skipping a rehab assignment.
Sep 14 2023Conforto (hamstring) is expected to be activated from the injured list Friday, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Giants manager Gabe Kapler told reporters that he had Conforto penciled in as the DH for Thursday's series opener against the Rockies before that game was postponed by inclement weather in Denver. The 30-year-old slugger has been sidelined for the last three weeks because of a Grade 2 left hamstring strain.
Sep 13 2023Conforto (hamstring) is expected to be activated at some point during the Giants' next series versus the Rockies which begins Thursday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto is three weeks removed from suffering a hamstring strain and is almost ready to return to game action. It's possible the Giants could ease him back into things initially with some starts at designated hitter, but the important thing is getting his bat back into the lineup.
Sep 9 2023Conforto (hamstring) was not activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday but could return any day now, Danny Emerman of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has been ramping up workouts, including running the bases Friday. The Giants decided against bringing him back prior to Saturday's game versus the Rockies, but it looks like Conforto will skip a rehab assignment and his return is imminent. He's been sidelined since late August with a strained hamstring.
Sep 8 2023Conforto (hamstring) ran the bases without issue Friday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has also been taking daily rounds of on-field batting practice as he nears a return from the Grade 2 left hamstring strain that sent him to the injured list Aug. 25. He could be allowed to skip a minor-league rehab assignment if all of the side work continues to go smoothly.
Sep 5 2023Conforto (hamstring) took on-field batting practice Tuesday and said he's running at close to 85 percent, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto landed on the injured list Aug. 25 with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, but he has made a swift recovery so far and could return to the NL Wild Card-hunting Giants at some point in mid-September. When healthy this season, the 30-year-old outfielder has registered a .748 OPS with 15 homers and 55 RBI across 111 games.
Aug 25 2023Conforto has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The outfielder suffered the injury Wednesday in Philadelphia and was placed on the injured list earlier Friday. It's a moderate strain, which means Conforto is looking at longer than a minimum stay on the IL. Luis Matos is getting the start in right field Friday versus Atlanta and Heliot Ramos will fill Conforto's spot on the roster.
Aug 20 2023Conforto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game in Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Southpaw Max Fried will be on the mound Sunday for Atlanta, so Conforto will receive a day off despite his .300/.407/.460 slash line in August. Heliot Ramos will start in right field and bat sixth in the series finale.
Aug 15 2023Conforto went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in Tuesday's 7-0 win over the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This was Conforto's fourth straight multi-hit game, and he's supplied an extra-base hit in three of them. The outfielder's surge has him batting .325 in August compared to .251 for the season. Overall, he's at a .758 OPS with 15 home runs, 55 RBI, 52 runs scored, four stolen bases and 12 doubles through 104 contests. As long as his bat is hot, he should maintain a spot in the starting lineup -- he's most often been in right field lately.
Aug 14 2023Conforto went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This was Conforto's second straight game with a homer and also his second two-hit game of the weekend. The outfielder has come around at the plate a bit lately, batting .277 (13-for-47) with four extra-base hits over his last 15 games. He's maintained steady playing time despite his recent slump, though he could be impacted by the impending return of Mike Yastrzemski (hamstring) from the injured list.
Aug 12 2023Conforto went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Saturday's 9-3 loss to the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has sputtered at the plate recently, going 6-for-30 (.200) with two extra-base hits and six walks over his last 10 games. His homer Saturday was his first since July 8. The outfielder is at a .238/.332/.394 slash line with 14 homers, 53 RBI, 49 runs scored and four stolen bases through 101 contests, though his relatively punchless hitting of late has nullified his stronger play from earlier in the year.
Jul 25 2023Conforto is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Athletics. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: A likely trade chip for the Giants, Conforto has slumped to a .230/.288/.295 batting line over his last 66 plate appearances dating back to June 27. Joc Pederson, Luis Matos and Austin Slater will start across the outfield Tuesday.
Jul 23 2023Conforto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will ride the bench for the series finale along with fellow lefty hitters LaMonte Wade and Joc Pederson while southpaw MacKenzie Gore takes the hill for Washington. With Conforto out of the lineup, Austin Slater will pick up a start in the corner outfield while serving as the Giants' leadoff batter.
Jul 20 2023Conforto is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Reds, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The left-handed hitting Conforto will grab a seat as the Reds throw southpaw Andrew Abbott. Mike Yastrzemski -- who also bats left-handed -- will be in right field.
Jul 16 2023Conforto went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's 8-4 victory over the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto now has hits in five straight contests, going 9-for-20 (.450) with a homer and two steals in that span, following a 1-for-18 slump in his previous six games. Overall, it's been a solid campaign for Conforto after missing the entire 2022 season. He's now slashing .244/.335/.421 with 13 home runs, 49 RBI, 42 runs scored and four stolen bases through 313 plate appearances.
Jul 15 2023Conforto (ribs) is starting in right field and batting fourth Saturday against the Pirates, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto was pulled from Friday's game after taking a pitch to the ribs during the ninth inning, but it won't end up costing him any playing time. Conforto is currently enjoying a three-game hitting streak and is 6-for-12 with a homer and four RBI in that span.
Jul 14 2023Conforto left Friday's game against the Pirates in the ninth inning after being hit by a pitch, but he was not sent for X-rays, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: There's always a chance Conforto could need a day or two after being plunked -- he appeared to be hit in the ribs -- but the decision to hold off on X-rays suggests the level of concern within the organization is low. Prior to exiting, Conforto went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base, his third steal of the campaign.
Jul 9 2023Conforto went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto had gone 1-for-14 with a walk across his previous four games since returning from a hamstring injury. The outfielder's first-inning blast was his first since June 8. He's up to 13 homers, 44 RBI, 41 runs scored and two stolen bases while slashing .235/.329/.420 over 76 contests.
Jul 3 2023Conforto (hamstring) went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Monday's 6-5 loss to the Mariners. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto served as the designated hitter, so the Giants may still be easing him back into action. He missed four games with hamstring tightness that forced him out of last Wednesday's game in Toronto. The outfielder is slashing .238/.336/.421 with 12 home runs, 42 RBI, 40 runs scored and two stolen bases over 72 contests this season. He'll likely return to left field in the coming days, which will leave Joc Pederson and Blake Sabol competing for time at DH.
Jul 2 2023Conforto (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's another expected absence for Conforto due to a mild left hamstring strain, as the Giants don't expect him back in the lineup until at least Monday. Austin Slater, Bryce Johnson and Luis Matos will start from left to right in the outfield Sunday.
Jul 1 2023Conforto (hamstring) will be on the bench for Saturday's game against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will miss his third straight game while dealing with a mild left hamstring strain. The Giants have yet to send him to the injured list, but he isn't expected to return before Monday's game against the Mariners. Austin Slater and Joc Pederson will handle the outfield corners Saturday.
Jun 30 2023Conforto (hamstring) is not expected to play this weekend versus the Mets, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto is dealing with a fascia strain of his left hamstring and is missing a second straight start Friday. While the injury is considered mild, it sounds as if the Giants don't want to take any chances with it. It's a bummer for Conforto personally since this would be his first time back in New York to play against his former team, but at least it appears the outfielder will avoid the injured list.
Jun 29 2023Conforto (hamstring) is absent from the lineup Thursday at Toronto. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto made an early exit from Wednesday's game after experiencing tightness in his left hamstring while trying to make a catch near the outfield wall. It's unclear at this point whether he might require a stint on the 10-day injured list. Joc Pederson, Luis Matos and Austin Slater will start across the outfield for the Giants in Thursday's series finale versus the Blue Jays.
Jun 28 2023Conforto exited Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays due to left hamstring tightness, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto came up grabbing his leg after he ran into the wall while making a catch in the first inning, and his hamstring is now confirmed to be the issue. The severity of his injury remains unknown, but it's possible he sits out at least one game to recover. The 30-year-old outfielder is slashing .203/.300/.319 since the start of June.
Jun 24 2023Conforto went 3-for-4 with two doubles, four RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto entered Friday 0-for-16 across his last five games, but he busted out of the slump in a big way. It was his third multi-hit effort in June, and he's hitting just .200 for the month after looking like one of the Giants' best players in late May. For the season, the outfielder has a .237/.330/.421 slash line with 12 home runs, 41 RBI, 39 runs scored, six doubles and two stolen bases through 67 contests. With the absences of Mike Yastrzemski (hamstring) and Mitch Haniger (forearm), Conforto should continue to have a clear path to a near-everyday role in the corner outfield.
Jun 14 2023Conforto is not in the starting lineup Wednesday against St. Louis, John Denton of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will take a seat after he went 4-for-6 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 11-3 victory. Mike Yastrzemski will slide over to right field while Luis Matos makes his MLB debut in center field and bats second versus the Cardinals.
Jun 8 2023Conforto went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto jump-started the Giants' comeback, smacking a two-run shot off Chase Anderson in the sixth inning to cut the deficit to 4-3. After getting off to a slow start, the 30-year-old Conforto has been red hot since early May, batting .359 with eight homers and a 1.110 OPS in his last 22 games. He's now slashing .251/.352/.469 with 12 homers, 31 RBI and 34 runs scored through 210 plate appearances this season.
Jun 6 2023Conforto went 1-for-3 with a walk and one RBI in Tuesday's 10-4 win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto was out for a week while dealing with a bruised left heel. He played six innings before Austin Slater entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh in a blowout contest. Conforto hit .373 with seven home runs over his last 18 games in May prior to the injury. The outfielder is at a .250/.348/.459 slash line with 11 homers, 29 RBI, 32 runs scored and two stolen bases through 51 contests overall. Fantasy managers will hope he can pick up where he left off.
Jun 4 2023Conforto (heel) is not in the starting lineup for the Giants on Sunday versus the Orioles, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto was able to appear off the bench against Baltimore on Friday, but he hasn't been able to start since leaving Tuesday's game against the Pirates with a bruise on his left heel. Mitch Haniger gets the start in right field again with Blake Sabol lining up in left field while Conforto recovers.
Jun 3 2023Conforto (heel) isn't in San Francisco's lineup Saturday against the Orioles, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto's bruised left heel will keep him out of the lineup for the third straight game, though he was able to pinch hit during Friday's contest. His absence will shift Mitch Haniger into right field, Blake Sabol into left and Wilmer Flores in as San Francisco's designated hitter.
Jun 2 2023Conforto (heel) is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will miss a second game in a row after he injured his heel Tuesday against the Pirates. The MRI on his foot back clean, so the outfielder should return to the lineup in the near future. Mike Yastrzemski will slide over to right field while Brett Wisely enters the lineup in center field and bats ninth in the series opener with Baltimore.
May 31 2023Conforto is considered day-to-day with a bruised left heel after medical imaging came back clean Wednesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto was sent for both X-rays and an MRI after experiencing discomfort in his heel during Tuesday night's game against the Pirates. He was held out of action Wednesday afternoon but will presumably be able to return at some point during the Giants' three-game weekend series versus the Orioles. San Francisco has a much-needed scheduled team day off Thursday.
May 30 2023Conforto is considered day-to-day after leaving Tuesday's game with a bruise on his left heel, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto went 2-for-4 with an RBI before leaving the contest. The outfielder was replaced by Bryce Johnson. The day-to-day designation gives Conforto a chance to return to the lineup shortly, but the Giants will want to make sure he's good to go to keep one of their best hitters healthy over the summer months.
May 29 2023Conforto is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has slashed a sizzling .423/.484/.808 with four extra-base hits and a stolen base while starting in each of the Giants' last seven games, but he'll still be subject to occasional off days when San Francisco faces lefty pitchers. He'll give way in right field to Mitch Haniger while southpaw Rich Hill takes the mound for Pittsburgh in the series opener.
May 24 2023Conforto went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer, a double and two more runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto notched his first hit of the evening with a double in the sixth and came around to score. He stepped back up to the plate in the seventh and sent a breaking ball over the wall in left to put the Giants up 4-3. The 30-year-old now has six home runs over his last 12 games and leads the Giants overall with 10 homers on the year. Conforto hit 88 long balls from 2017-2019 and seems well on his way to surpassing 30 home runs this year if he can stay healthy. He's now slashing .219/.324/.445 with 24 RBI, 27 runs and a 21:46 BB:K over 170 plate appearances.
May 22 2023Conforto went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk Monday in a 4-1 win against Minnesota. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto got the key hit in a big first inning against Bailey Ober, swatting a three-run homer that ultimately accounted for the winning margin. The long ball was a nice rebound after Conforto struck out in all four of his at-bats against Miami in his previous game. The right fielder has nine homers on the campaign, with five of them coming in his past 11 contests.
May 21 2023Conforto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto started the previous 10 games and will receive a day off after he posted a 1.042 OPS with four home runs during that stretch. Mike Yastrzemski will shift to right field while Bryce Johnson starts in center.
May 16 2023Conforto went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto's gone 10-for-19 with three home runs during his five-game hitting streak. With Mike Yastrzemski recently returning from the injured list, Conforto's hot stretch should help him solidify his spot in the lineup. The 30-year-old is up to a .222/.338/.429 slash line with eight homers, 18 RBI, 23 runs scored and a stolen base through 38 games.
May 15 2023Conforto went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI in Monday's 6-3 victory over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto had the biggest hit in a six-run second inning, as he popped a first-pitch fastball for a three-run shot. After missing all of 2022 due to shoulder surgery, Conforto has come back and produced. His batting average is a paltry .205, but his OPS is slightly higher than his 2021 number. That is thanks to some improved pop, as he is slugging .418.
May 14 2023Conforto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto gave the Giants a 1-0 lead with his fourth-inning blast off Arizona pitcher Brandon Pfaadt. This was Conforto's third homer in the last five games. The outfielder is up to seven long balls, 14 RBI, 22 runs scored, a stolen base and two doubles while slashing .193/.314/.387 through 140 plate appearances this season.
May 13 2023Conforto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-5 loss to the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto is 3-for-10 with two homers, three RBI and four runs scored over his last three games, which followed a stretch in which he went 0-for-16 across six contests. Perhaps it a sign of life for the outfielder's offense. He's still slashing just .180/.311/.351 on the season, but he's up to six homers, 13 RBI, 21 runs scored and one stolen base through 132 plate appearances.
May 11 2023Conforto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 11-6 loss to the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto's long ball came in the eighth inning with the Giants already down eight runs, so it didn't make much of an impact. He was able to shake off an 0-for-16 skid over his last six games. The outfielder has seen a starting role in right field for much of the season, but he hasn't done much with it, slashing .171/.298/.324 with five homers, 12 RBI, 18 runs scored and a stolen base over 32 contests.
May 9 2023Conforto is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against Washington. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will get a breather after he went 0-for-3 with a walk in Monday's series opener, extending his hitless streak to five straight games. Over those contests, the outfielder has gone 0-for-15 with two runs scored, three walks and six strikeouts. Conforto will have a chance to reset Tuesday as Mitch Haniger slides to right field while Brett Wisley draws the start in center field and bats ninth versus the Nationals.
Apr 3 2023Conforto went 2-for-6 with a homer in Monday's blowout victory over the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The homer was a solo shot off an ineffective Michael Kopech in the fifth inning. It's the first homer of the 2023 season for Conforto, and also the first he's hit as a member of the Giants. It helps break the outfielder out of a mini slump, as he went just 1-for-12 in the three-game series against the Yankees.
Mar 30 2023Conforto is starting in right field and batting second in the Giants' season opener Thursday against the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto proved the health of his surgically-repaired right shoulder this spring while also slugging four home runs across 52 plate appearances of Cactus League action. The 30-year-old could be in for a big bounceback campaign in San Francisco after missing all of 2022.
Mar 9 2023Conforto (shoulder) is starting in right field and batting leadoff for the Giants in Thursday's Cactus League game against the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It'll be his first appearance in the outfield since 2021. Conforto missed the entire 2022 season because of a shoulder injury that ultimately required surgery, but his rehab has gone so well that he appears likely to be a corner-outfield option for San Francisco throughout the 2023 campaign. The 30-year-old slugger was brought in on a one-year, $18 million contract in December.
Mar 7 2023Conforto (shoulder) is scheduled to begin playing the outfield in Cactus League games Thursday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto hit his second home run in as many games Tuesday out of the DH spot, and he can soon test his surgically-repaired shoulder with live action in the corner outfield. The early word from Giants camp was that Conforto was having trouble with the accuracy of some of his throws, but perhaps those issues have since been resolved. He inked a one-year, $18 million contract with San Francisco in December after having to sit out the entire 2022 campaign.
Feb 17 2023Conforto (shoulder) took the final step in his throwing progression on Friday, Evan Webeck of the San Jose Mercury News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto did so by playing long-toss from 200 feet, and Webeck notes that his throws were encouragingly clocked in the high-80s. The 29-year-old will be limited to DH duties in the early part of the Cactus League schedule, but it sounds like he'll be fit to serve as the Giants' primary left fielder come Opening Day. Conforto missed the entire 2022 season following right shoulder surgery before then inking a one-year, $18 million free-agent contract with San Francisco in December.
Feb 15 2023Conforto will operate as a designated hitter in the early stages of spring training, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Areareports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto missed all of 2022 while recovering from right shoulder surgery, and he still needs to build up his arm strength, as Pavlovic notes. Once he completes his throwing progressions, the 29-year-old should see the majority of his playing time in left field, but he could see a fair share of reps as the DH during the regular season as well.
Dec 23 2022Conforto agreed Friday with the Giants on a one-year, $18 million contract, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Buster Olney of ESPN relays that Conforto's contract contains an $18 million player option for 2024. Though Conforto doesn't represent the big free-agent bat the Giants had been hoping to sign after the team had been in on Aaron Judge and Carlos Correa, among others, the 29-year-old outfielder was one of the few hitters still available who has some upside. Conforto missed the entire 2022 season following surgery on his right shoulder but is expected to enter spring training without any limitations. Conforto is going to a park which suppresses left-handed power, so this isn't a great landing spot for fantasy purposes. However, the most important thing will be just showing he's healthy again.
Nov 28 2022Conforto (shoulder) remains engaged in hitting and throwing programs and isn't expected to face any restrictions for spring training, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Morosi notes that Conforto has been hitting for several months now, but his involvement in a throwing program implies that he's back to full health after he underwent surgery on his right shoulder in mid-April. Conforto had hoped to sign with a team last summer to serve as a designated hitter in the second half of the 2022 campaign, but he ultimately couldn't find an offer to his liking in free agency and sat out the entire season. Now that he's further removed from surgery, Conforto will aim to secure a more lucrative deal on the open market. The fact that he should be available to play the corner outfield at the start of the 2023 season should only help his efforts to find an opportunity somewhere.
May 16 2022Conforto will look to sign a contract after the 2022 MLB Draft and could potentially return as a hitter in September if he can get ahead in his shoulder rehab, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto underwent surgery on his right shoulder in mid-April, and it was initially believed that he would miss the entire 2022 campaign while on the mend. However, agent Scott Boras revealed Monday that Conforto will be open to signing with a team in July after the draft with the possibility of a September return, but only as a hitter. "There is a possibility the swinging modality can be back to normal at a much earlier date than the throwing aspect," said Boras. "He had his surgery in April. There's a chance depending on how he progresses that hitting in the majors late in the season is a possibility." As Sherman notes, any prospective team would undoubtedly check into the status of Conforto's shoulder before agreeing on a deal.
Apr 23 2022Conforto underwent shoulder surgery in mid-April and will not play in 2022, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto reportedly suffered a shoulder injury in January, though agent Scott Boras declared him fully healthy by late March. However, Conforto required surgery to repair the issue, and he will now be out for the entire 2022 campaign. Positively, he will have plenty of time to recover and gear up for the 2023 season. He'll be 30 by Opening Day and has a lengthy list of injuries that includes a previous shoulder surgery in 2017.
Mar 30 2022Agent Scott Boras said Wednesday that Conforto is now healthy and in contract discussions after suffering a right shoulder injury in January, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto picked up the injury during a workout in January when he landed awkwardly on the shoulder, and he wanted to be fully healthy before attempting to sign with a team. The 29-year-old resumed talks with clubs last week, though it's unclear if he's expected to land a deal before the start of the regular season next week. Regardless, he'll have a delayed start to the season since he's already missed nearly the entirety of spring training. Conforto endured the worst year of his career in 2021 with a .728 OPS, 14 home runs and 55 RBI in 125 games.
Nov 8 2021Conforto declined the Mets' qualifying offer Monday and will head to free agency, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto likely had more to think about than most players who are tendered a qualifying offer, as he hit free agency at a poor time. He posted a career-best 158 wRC+ in 2020, but his 106 wRC+ in 2021 represented his worst mark since 2016. He also missed over a month with a strained hamstring. Ordinarily, a player who's been a well-above-average hitter over the course of his career who hits free agency while still in his 20s would be in line for a big payday, but teams may be a bit more hesitant about Conforto given his unimpressive 2021 campaign.
Nov 6 2021The Mets extended a qualifying offer to Conforto on Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will have a little less than two weeks to decide whether to accept the one-year, $18.4 million offer from the Mets or test the open market. The 28-year-old outfielder is coming off his worst season in the majors by fWAR (0.8), so it's conceivable that he could take the qualifying offer in an effort to re-establish his value in 2022. He has a career .356 OBP and 124 wRC+, so given his age, there should be quite a few suitors if he were to decline the qualifying offer.
Oct 1 2021Conforto isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto started each of the last two games and went 4-for-9 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs. Kevin Pillar will take his place in right field and bat seventh.
Sep 30 2021Conforto went 3-for-5 and drove in a pair of runs Thursday in a 12-3 win over the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto doubled and added two singles for his first three-hit performance since July 19. His RBI single in the third inning made it a 2-2 game, and his run-scoring base hit in the fourth gave the Mets a 6-3 cushion. It's been a disappointing 2021 for Conforto, who is hitting .228 with 13 home runs and a .718 OPS in 471 plate appearances.
Sep 28 2021Conforto is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Marlins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run and three strikeouts during Game 1, and he'll take a seat with lefty Trevor Rogers starting the nightcap for Miami. Kevin Pillar will man right field in his place.
Sep 22 2021Conforto isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will get a day off after he went 1-for-11 with an RBI, a walk and four strikeouts across the last three games. Kevin Pillar will start in right field and bat eighth.
Sep 5 2021Conforto went 3-for-7 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI across both games of Saturday's doubleheader split against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He blasted a two-run shot off Wander Suero in the fourth inning of the matinee, giving the Mets a 9-0 lead in game that they eventually won 11-9 in extra innings. Conforto has endured a rough season, but he seems to be gearing up for a sprint to the finish line, batting .286 (6-for-21) with three of his 11 homers on the year over his last seven games.
Sep 1 2021Conforto went 1-for-1 with a walk and a two-run home run in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old has only three hits in his last 20 at-bats, but two of them have left the yard and he has a 5:6 BB:K over that stretch. Conforto continues to tease a turnaround but hasn't been able to find consistent success at the plate this season, leaving him with a poor .217/.340/.368 slash line, 10 homers and 36 RBI through 97 games.
Aug 28 2021Conforto went 1-for-1 with a three-run homer in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto took a seat against left-hander Sean Nolin Saturday night, but was summoned off the bench to face right-handed reliever Mason Thompson. With Jeff McNeil and Kevin Pillar on base, Conforto knocked Thompson's very first offering out of the park to erase a one-run deficit and put the Mets ahead for good. The longball marked the outfielder's first career pinch-hit home run. The soon-to-be free agent is batting .276 with three home runs in August, well above his season mark of .218.
Aug 26 2021Conforto isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has gone 1-for-10 with a run and three walks across the last four games but will get a day off with left-hander Alex Wood on the mound for the Giants. Kevin Pillar will start in right field and bat seventh.
Aug 22 2021Conforto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With lefty David Price on the hill for the Dodgers, Mets manager Luis Rojas will give three of the team's lefty-hitting regulars -- Conforto, Dominic Smith and Jeff McNeil -- the day off. Kevin Pillar will fill in for Conforto in right field.
Aug 14 2021Conforto went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Walker Buehler hadn't allowed a home run since June 24 until Conforto stepped to the dish and took the Dodgers' ace deep Saturday night. While he is still mired in his worst season as a pro, the Mets' right fielder is now on a five-game hit streak.
Aug 13 2021Conforto is out of the lineup Friday against the Dodgers, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has a .921 OPS through 11 games in August, but he'll head to the bench Friday with southpaw Julio Urias on the mound for the Dodgers. Albert Almora will start in right field in his absence.
Aug 8 2021Conforto went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He didn't get the start with southpaw Ranger Suarez on the mound for Philadelphia, but Suarez got the hook after only 2.2 innings. Conforto then replaced Brandon Drury in right field and took Mauricio Llovera deep in the ninth inning. It was his first homer since July 19 and only his seventh of the year, but Conforto has shown signs of emerging from his slump, going 5-for-18 over the last six games with two doubles and four walks.
Aug 7 2021Conforto isn't starting Saturday's game against the Phillies, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Mets are stacking their lineup with right-handed hitters against southpaw Ranger Suarez on Saturday, so Conforto will get a day off. Brandon Drury is starting in right field and batting fifth.
Aug 2 2021Conforto isn't starting Monday's game against Miami, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has gone 0-for-13 with a walk and six strikeouts across his last five appearances, and he'll take a seat for the second time in the last three games. Kevin Pillar will start in right field and bat eighth.
Jul 24 2021Conforto is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto had shown signs of a second-half turnaround with eight hits and four homers in a five-game span, but he's since gone 0-for-12. Kevin Pillar will start in right field and bat seventh Saturday.
Jul 20 2021Conforto went 3-for-6 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored in Monday's 15-11 extra-innings win over the Reds. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He took Vladimir Gutierrez deep for a two-run shot in the fourth inning, then capped the scoring on the night by going back-to-back with Kevin Pillar in the 11th. Conforto only has six homers on the year but four of them have come in the last five games, a stretch during which he's gone 8-for-21 (.381) while adding two doubles and eight RBI. The 28-year-old appears poised to erase the memories of his disappointing first half.
Jul 18 2021Conforto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 7-6 win over Pittsburgh. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Mets trailed for much of the game, but Conforto's ninth-inning blast completed their comeback. The outfielder has homered twice in his last four games, and he has four long balls on the year. He's added a paltry .207/.347/.328 slash line with 21 RBI, 17 runs scored and nine doubles through 213 plate appearances.
Jul 11 2021Conforto went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 6-5 loss to Pittsburgh. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The outfielder staked the Mets to a 5-0 lead with his first-inning blast. Conforto's multi-hit effort was his first since June 23, and he's just 7-for-50 (.140) since he returned from a hamstring injury on that day. Overall, the 28-year-old has a poor .202/.345/.301 slash line with three homers, 19 RBI and 16runs scored through 200 plate appearances. He's still seen the bulk of the playing time in right field over Kevin Pillar and Billy McKinney lately.
Jul 10 2021Conforto is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Pirates, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The outfielder recorded two hits in his first game back from the injured list but has gone 3-for-41 with 17 strikeouts in 15 games since. Kevin Pillar will get the start in right field, with Conforto presumably getting some action in the night game Saturday.
Jul 2 2021Conforto is out of the lineup Friday against the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto started the past three games and will take a seat for the start of the Subway Series. Billy McKinney will work in right field Friday in his place.
Jun 28 2021Conforto is out of the lineup Monday at Washington, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto is 0-for-10 with six strikeouts since collecting two hits in his return from the injured list last week, and he'll receive the day off Monday. Billy McKinney will start in right field in his place.
Jun 25 2021Conforto is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto will take a seat after going hitless in four plate appearances during the win in Game 1. Albert Almora will start in center field as Kevin Pillar shifts to right field for the nightcap.
Jun 24 2021Conforto went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and two runs scored in Wednesday's 7-3 win over Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Seeing his first game action since May 16, Conforto hit third for the Mets and appeared fully recovered from the hamstring injury that had sidelined him. The next step for the 28-year-old will be finding his power stroke -- through 35 games on the year, Conforto has only two homers and what would be a career-low .350 SLG.
Jun 23 2021Mets manager Luis Rojas confirmed that Conforto (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto had been scheduled to return to the lineup Tuesday, but the Mets opted to delay his reinstatement by a day as a precaution since he was recently rehabbing at Triple-A Syracuse, which has dealt with COVID-19-related contact-tracing concerns in recent days. The 28-year-old has passed all subsequent testing for the virus, so the Mets will likely immediately reinstall him as their everyday right fielder Wednesday. Conforto's return will presumably spell an end to Billy McKinney's time as a regular in the New York outfield.
Jun 22 2021Conforto (hamstring) was not activated for Tuesday's game against Atlanta out of an abundance of caution due to a COVID-19 situation at Triple-A Syracuse, but he tested negative for the virus and is expected to be reinstated Wednesday, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Syracuse had Tuesday's game postponed due to the health and safety protocols, and Conforto's activation was held back a day since he just completed a rehab assignment there over the weekend. The 28-year-old is apparently in the clear and is poised to return to action for Wednesday's series finale versus Atlanta after missing the past five weeks with a strained right hamstring.
Jun 16 2021Conforto (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A Syracuse, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto was expected to wait until the weekend to join Syracuse, but he'll resume game action a few days earlier than expected after his strained right hamstring apparently responded well to his recent workouts. He'll lead off Wednesday for a Syracuse lineup that also includes two more rehabbing Mets in Albert Almora (shoulder) and Jeff McNeil (hamstring). Both of those players are likely to beat Conforto back from the IL, as the Mets want the 28-year-old to spend about a week in the minors to get fully ramped up since the hamstring injury has sidelined him for the past month. If all goes well, Conforto should rejoin the Mets midway through their upcoming eight-game homestand next week.
Jun 14 2021Conforto (hamstring) could begin a rehab assignment by the end of the week, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has been out with a hamstring strain since mid-May. He's been tracking towards a return in late June for some time now and appears to be still on that schedule, as he'll likely need a fair number of rehab games given the length of his absence.
Jun 12 2021Conforto (hamstring) ran the bases prior to Saturday's game against San Diego, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto has been out for nearly a month with a right hamstring strain. He remains on track to return in late June and is expected to do so over the final weekend of the month.
Jun 8 2021Conforto (hamstring) hopes to begin running the bases when the Mets return home to face the Padres this weekend, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old has been on the shelf since May 17 with a strained right hamstring, but a rehab assignment could be on the horizon if he's able to run the bases with no issues this weekend. Billy McKinney should continue to see regular time in right field until Conforto rejoins the active roster, which he's unlikely to do until late June.
May 24 2021Conforto's hamstring strain is a significant one and is expected to keep him out until late June, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Mets' injury crisis won't be letting up any time soon, as both Conforto and Jeff McNeil were ruled out for roughly another month Monday. Khalil Lee has handled the majority of the starts in right field in Conforto's absence thus far.
May 17 2021Conforto (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto's placement on the injured list was expected after he sustained a right hamstring strain in Sunday's loss to the Rays. The 28-year-old underwent an MRI on Monday, but the results aren't yet known. Johneshwy Fargas' contract was selected and Khalil Lee was recalled as part of a shuffle.
May 16 2021Conforto (hamstring) will undergo an MRI to determine the extent of his injury, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto was removed from Sunday's game against the Rays with right hamstring tightness after he pulled up while running out a groundout in the first inning. He should be considered day-to-day until the results of his MRI are known.
May 2 2021Conforto went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After lashing a two-run double and then coming around to score as part of a four-run first inning by the Mets, Conforto saved the best for last by launching a solo shot of Hector Neris in the top of the ninth to break a 4-4 tie. The outfielder seems to have found his rhythm at the plate, hitting .310 (9-for-29) over the last eight games with both his homers on the year as he shakes off a tepid start to 2021.
Apr 24 2021Conforto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 7-1 loss to the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Mets were already down 5-0 when Conforto went yard off Joe Ross, in part because of his own shaky defense in right field. The 28-year-old needed 16 games to connect on his first homer of the year, but he seems to have shaken off his early-season slump, going 8-for-27 (.296) over his last eight games.
Apr 18 2021Conforto went2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto doubled in the second inning but didn't score until the fourth after a single. The 28-year-old was stuck in an 0-for-15 rut before the weekend series against the Rockies but went 4-for-10 over the last three games. He's slashing .200/.333/.257 with two extra-base hits.
Apr 14 2021Conforto (wrist) is starting Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto sat out Tuesday's nightcap after he was hit by a pitch on his right wrist in the first game of the twin bill against Philadelphia. However, the X-rays on his wrist came back negative, and he'll start in right field and bat sixth for Wednesday's contest.
Apr 13 2021Conforto had X-rays come back negative on his right wrist after being hit by a pitch during Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Phillies, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The X-rays explain the 28-year-old's absence from the lineup for Tuesday's nightcap, but it appears he avoided any series issues from the hit by pitch. Conforto is back on the bench for Game 2 and should be considered day-to-day.
Apr 12 2021Conforto will start in right field and bat sixth Monday against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Luis Rojas initially moved Conforto down from third to sixth in the order for Sunday's series finale against the Marlins, but the outfielder didn't get a chance to hit in the contest after it was suspended due to rain. The skipper won't deviate from Sunday's lineup, as Conforto will swap spots with Dominic Smith while looking to shake off some early-season rust. Over the Mets' first five contests, Conforto went 3-for-21 with eight strikeouts.
Mar 18 2021Conforto has gone 6-for-21 (.286) through eight Grapefruit League games this spring, but all six hits have been singles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old also has a 1:5 BB:K. Conforto's starting job in right field is in no jeopardy regardless of how he does this spring, and his .322/.412/.515 slash line from 2020 carries a lot more weight than a handful of early March at-bats. With free agency looming next offseason, Conforto has plenty of incentive to put together a big campaign.
Jan 15 2021Conforto (hamstring) and the Mets reached a one-year, $12.25 million deal Friday, avoiding, arbitration, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto's 2020 season ended slightly early due to hamstring tightness, but he'll avoid arbitration with the Mets heading into 2021. He had a solid season last year, slashing .322/.412/.515 with nine home runs and three stolen bases over 54 games.
Sep 24 2020Conforto was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday with hamstring tightness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This ends Conforto's season. It was a true breakout campaign for the 27-year-old, as he slashed .322/.412/.515 with nine home runs and three steals in 54 games. His previous high in batting average was the .279 mark he posted in 2017.
Sep 23 2020Conforto (hamstring) went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Wednesday's 8-5 loss to the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto missed two games with the hamstring injury, and he wasn't particularly good in his return. The outfielder is still slashing .322/.412/.515 with nine homers, 31 RBI, 40 runs scored and three stolen bases in 54 games this season.
Sep 22 2020Conforto (hamstring) remains on the bench Tuesday against the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto sat Monday due to hamstring tightness, and the injury will cost him at least one more game. Jeff McNeil moves over to right field in his absence, with Dominic Smith moving out to left.
Sep 21 2020Conforto (hamstring) wasn't available to pinch hit Monday against the Rays, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto was held out of Monday's matchup due to hamstring tightness, and while it was initially thought that he may be available off the bench, the Mets neglected to use him. "We'll see tomorrow how he is," stated manager Luis Rojas. "Hopefully he can be there for us." Expect Conforto to be re-evaluated prior to Tuesday's game.
Sep 10 2020Conforto went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during Wednesday's 7-6 win over the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto hit a solo shot to right field with two outs in the fifth to bring the Mets within 6-4. September has treated the 2014 first-rounder well as he's hitting .410/.452/.769 with three home runs and 10 RBI in nine games since the month began and isn't showing any signs of slowing down.
Sep 7 2020Conforto went 3-for-6 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored Tuesday against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto doubled in the fifth inning to drive in his lone run of the contest -- also coming around to score in the same frame. He's swung a hot bat of late, as he now has at least one hit in nine of his last 10 starts. Overall, Conforto is hitting .348/.436/.561 with seven home runs, 29 runs scored and 26 RBI across 179 plate appearances.
Sep 5 2020Conforto went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: His fifth-inning blast was the only offense the Mets could muster against Jake Arrieta. Conforto has gone yard twice in the last three games to give him seven long balls on the year, and his .326/.421/.539 slash line through 39 games has him on pace for a career-high OPS.
Sep 2 2020Conforto went 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles and five RBI during Wednesday's 9-4 win over the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto had only one extra-base hit in his past 19 at-bats entering Wednesday, but he was all over Baltimore's pitching staff in the series finale. The 27-year-old has a .331/.426/.534 slash line with six homers, 23 runs, 22 RBI and three stolen bases through 37 games.
Aug 31 2020Conforto is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto went 3-for-9 with a double and three RBI while starting in both ends of Sunday's doubleheader loss to the Yankees. The Mets are facing a quick turnaround with Monday's contest beginning at 1:10 p.m. ET, so manager Luis Rojas likely viewed it as a good time to give Conforto his first day off of the season. Brandon Nimmo will shift over to right field to spell Conforto while Jake Marisnick enters the starting nine as the Mets' center fielder.
Aug 26 2020Conforto went 2-for-2 with a solo home run, three runs scored, a stolen base and a pair of walks in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto played a starring role in Mets' offense Wednesday, with his biggest contribution being his third-inning homer. He also got aboard with a walk in the fifth inning and added a stolen base, his third of the year. The 27-year-old attempted another steal in the seventh, but he was caught that time. Conforto is up to five homers, 14 RBI, 20 runs scored and a .324/.444/.520 slash line through 29 contests.
Aug 20 2020Conforto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's win over the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He took Miami closer Brandon Kintzler deep in the top of the ninth inning to break a 3-3 tie. Conforto hadn't gone yard since Aug. 8 -- also, perhaps not coincidentally, against the Marlins -- and on the season he now sports a strong .312/.434/.495 slash line with four homers, two steals, 13 RBI and 17 runs through 26 games.
Aug 13 2020Conforto went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, three runs and two RBI in Wednesday's 11-6 win over the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto extended his hitting streak to a season-best nine games with another outstanding day at the plate. He'll carry an impressive .324/.425/.515 slash line into the Mets' series finale against the Nationals on Thursday, when he'll start in right field and bat cleanup.
Aug 8 2020Conforto went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Saturday's 8-4 win over the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Daniel Castano, making his big-league debut, left an 82-mph changeup over the plate in the second inning and Conforto did not miss. All three of Conforto's home runs this season have come against left-handed pitching. He hit six homers against left-handed pitching all of last year.
Aug 4 2020Conforto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Tuesday against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto took Patrick Corbin deep in the fourth inning to record his second home run of the season. He's swung the bat well of late, as he has two multi-hit games in his last four starts. For the campaign, Conforto has reached base 20 times in 51 plate appearances, while driving in six and scoring six runs.
Jul 27 2020Conforto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 7-4 win over the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto opened the scoring with a blast to right field in the second inning. It's his first homer and RBI of the year. The 27-year-old is 5-for-12 (.417) with two runs scored in four games this season.
Jul 25 2020Conforto went 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a walk in Saturday's 5-3 extra-inning loss to the Braves. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto's double came in the second inning, and he got the Mets on the board by scoring on an Amed Rosario triple. The 27-year-old Conforto batted seventh versus Braves southpaw Max Fried on Saturday, but expect the right fielder to be higher in the order against right-handed pitchers.
Apr 27 2020Conforto (oblique) has been taking regular batting practice and is expected to be back to full strength when the Mets reconvene for workouts, barring any sort of setback in his training, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto is one of several injured MLB players who has benefited from the extended recovery time afforded to him by the coronavirus pandemic, as his strained right oblique -- which once threatened his availability for Opening Day -- is unlikely to be an issue once the season resumes. Coming off three straight seasons of 25-plus home runs, Conforto is expected to slot in as the No. 3 hitter in a Mets lineup that could be improved from 2019 with better health from the likes of Yoenis Cespedes, Brandon Nimmo and Robinson Cano.
Mar 11 2020Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen was non-committal Wednesday when asked if Conforto (oblique) would be ready for Opening Day, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. "We'll see how he responds in the coming days, and then as we evaluate his game readiness next week," Van Wagenen said. "I'm sure we'll have more information at that point in time." ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto first experienced side soreness after catching a fly ball awkwardly Saturday, with the outfielder later being diagnosed with a strained right oblique following an MRI. The Mets seemingly believe that Conforto's strain is of the mild variety, as he's still expected to take part in limited baseball activities before the team re-evaluates him in a week to see if he's ready to ramp up his workouts. If the Mets' projected No. 3 hitter is forced to begin the season on the injured list, more playing time would likely open up in center field for Jake Marisnick, with Brandon Nimmo shifting over to cover Conforto's spot in right field.
Mar 10 2020Conforto received test results Tuesday that revealed a right oblique strain, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The left fielder underwent an MRI on his side Monday in Florida before returning to New York for further evaluation. General manager Brodie Van Wagenen mentioned Tuesday that it's too early to know if Conforto's status for Opening Day is in question. The 27-year-old tweaked his side while catching a flyball during a recent spring training and is expected to be reevaluated next week to provide a clearer timetable for his return. If Conforto is forced to miss an extended period of time to begin the season, outfielders Jake Marisnick and J.D. Davis are likely to see an uptick in playing time.
Mar 9 2020Conforto tweaked his side while catching a fly ball during a recent spring training game and is headed back to New York to be evaluated by Dr. Altcheck, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto underwent an MRI and is now on his way back to New York for further testing. The Mets should have a better idea of his availability moving forward following Dr. Altcheck's evaluation.
Jan 10 2020Conforto signed a one-year, $8 million contract with the Mets on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 26-year-old hit .257/.363/.494 with a career-high 33 homers last season. He also stole a career-high seven bases.
Sep 27 2019Conforto is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Braves. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto started the last 11 games and has a .948 OPS with three home runs, 10 RBI and 10 walks during that stretch, but he'll take a seat for the final series opener of the season. Juan Lagares will start in center field Friday, pushing Brandon Nimmo to right.
Sep 25 2019Conforto went 3-for-4 with a walk, two home runs and four RBI in Tuesday's extra-innings win over the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He slugged two-run homers in the seventh and ninth innings to drag the Mets back from a 4-0 deficit, then drew a free pass to lead off an 11th inning that ended with Brandon Nimmo's walkoff walk. The team staved off elimination for one more day with the victory, and Conforto is slashing .255/.361/.494 on the year with career highs in home runs (33), runs (88) and RBI (91).
Sep 14 2019Conforto is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Conforto sat Wednesday against a lefty and will do so again Saturday against Hyun-Jin Ryu, as Jeff McNeil moves out to right field and Todd Frazier starts at third. After homering in the series finale Thursday against Arizona, Conforto is now up to 30 long balls, with 24 of the 30 coming against right-handed pitching. He's slashing .247/.309/.392 against southpaws.
Sep 12 2019Conforto went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, walk and three runs in an 11-1 victory against the Diamondbacks on Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The homer was meaningless in the game, as Conforto's shot turned a 10-1 game into an 11-1 affair, but the long ball certainly wasn't meaningless to Conforto, as it was his 30th of the season. His last homer on Sept. 6 set a new career high, so he already accomplished that and now has his first 30-homer year. Conforto is batting .260 with 57 extra-base hits, 82 RBI, 82 runs and seven steals in 500 at-bats this season.
Sep 11 2019Conforto is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He is hitting .184 with a 39 percent strikeout rate in 38 September at-bats. Brandon Nimmo will start in right field while Juan Lagares starts in center.
Sep 7 2019Conforto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-4 win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The fourth-inning blast was Conforto's first in September and his 29th of the year, establishing a new career high. The 26-year-old has been a key part of the Mets' second-half push for the playoffs, slashing .282/.359/.533 in 49 games since the All-Star break.
Sep 2 2019Conforto went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Sunday in the Mets' 5-2 loss to the Phillies.

Jul 25 2018Conforto went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's win over the Padres. His third-inning shot off southpaw Eric Lauer, Conforto's 13th homer of the year, ended up providing the winning runs in a 6-3 victory. The 25-year-old finally appears to be fully healthy and catching fire at the plate, slashing .385/.485/.769 over his last eight games with three home runs and nine RBI.
Jul 22 2018Conforto will get the start in left field and bat fourth in Sunday's matchup against the Yankees, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports. With Cespedes (heel) out of the lineup, Conforto will take over in left, and Brandon Nimmo gets the nod in right. Conforto has gone 3-for-7 with a home run, a double and three RBI over the first two games of the series.
Jul 22 2018Conforto is out of the lineup for Sunday's matchup against the Yankees, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.Conforto will get the day off after going 3-for-7 with a double, a home run and four RBI over the first two games of the series. Brandon Nimmo is set to take over in right field, with Matt den Dekker slated to man center.
Jul 21 2018Conforto went 1-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk and a pair of runs Saturday against the Yankees. The homer, Conforto's 12th of the year, opened the scoring in the second inning off of Sonny Gray. He later scored on an Amed Rosario single in the sixth inning. The outfielder's season overall has been a disappointment, as he's hitting just .221/.346/.381, though he does have a pair of homers in his last four games.
Jul 14 2018Conforto went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Nationals. His fifth-inning blast off Austin Voth, Conforto's 11th homer of the year, ended up supplying crucial insurance runs after the Nats rallied in the eighth. The outfielder hadn't gone yard since June 26, hitting just .146 (7-for-48) in the 15 games between home runs with only three RBI.
Jul 10 2018Conforto is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Phillies.Conforto sits for just the second time since the start of June, though he's hit just .186 with a .647 OPS over that stretch. Ty Kelly gets the start in left field in his place.
Jun 19 2018Conforto went 3-for-4 with a walk, two doubles and two runs scored in Monday's rout of the Rockies. The 25-year-old is starting to show flickers of life at the plate. Five of his last six hits have gone for extra bases (two homers, three doubles), giving Conforto a .304/.484/.696 slash line through seven games on the Mets' current road trip. With three more games in Coors Field ahead this week, there could be plenty more XBH in his immediate future.
Jun 19 2018Conforto is starting in center field and hitting third Tuesday against the Rockies.Conforto is locked in at the dish, hitting .353/.522/.882 with two homers and a 5:1 BB:K over the last five games, so manager Mickey Callaway will reward the outfielder with a premium placement in the lineup Tuesday. It's unclear if Conforto will stick in the heart of the order, especially once Yoenis Cespedes (hip) and Jay Bruce (hip) are healthy, but it will be hard for Callaway to drop him in the lineup if he continues to see the ball well.
Jun 16 2018Conforto went 2-for-4 with a three-run run home run, double and four RBI Saturday against the Diamondbacks.Conforto crushed a high fastball from left-hander Patrick Corbin in the second inning for his ninth home run of the season. He entered the game slugging only .296 against southpaws for the season, and now has five extra-base hits against them in 58 at-bats. This marked his second home run in his past three games, a positive sign of life from him at the plate considering he is hitting just .218/.343/.386 for the season.
Jun 14 2018Conforto went 1-for-3 with a solo home and walk Thursday against the Diamondbacks.Conforto hit his eighth home run of the season in the sixth inning off Matt Koch. It was his second home run in his past 10 games, but just his fourth hit in that span. He is hitting an ugly .216 through 190 at-bats this season, putting him at risk of demotion or loss of playing time upon the return of Yoenis Cespedes (hip, quadriceps).
Jun 11 2018The Mets' brass has been contemplating demoting Conforto to Triple-A Las Vegas in recent days, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.Conforto has gone hitless in the Mets' last five games and is batting just .071 in June while striking out in 28.1 percent of his plate appearances. While it was expected that Conforto would show some rust after returning from shoulder surgery in early April -- far sooner than the Mets initially forecasted -- the team was likely banking on the outfielder demonstrating signs of a breakthrough by this point in the season. Instead, Conforto's dismal June has sunk his season line to .215/.335/.359 across 215 plate appearances, with his .694 OPS representing a 245-point decline from 2017. If Conforto fails to display progress in his next handful of starts and Yoenis Cespedes (hip, quadriceps) draws closer to a return from the 10-day disabled list, the Mets may finally pull the plug on the 25-year-old and send him to the Pacific Coast League to regain confidence.
Jun 3 2018Conforto accounted for the Mets' only run in Saturday's 7-1 extra-innings loss to the Cubs, going 1-for-5 with a walk and a solo homer. His sixth-inning shot off Mike Montgomery kept his team in the game, but they would eventually fall as the bullpen collapsed in the 14th. Conforto now has seven homers on the season, five of which have come in his last 20 games, and his .292/.393/.514 slash line over that stretch is likely a better indication of his production over the next four months than his overall .236/.358/.398 line.
Jun 3 2018Conforto went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in Sunday's loss to the Cubs.Conforto was one of the few who reached base, as the Mets struggled offensively against John Lester, managing just three hits. He's batting .238 with seven homers and 16 RBI through 48 games this season.
May 30 2018Conforto is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Braves, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports. It looked like a great matchup on paper with the Mets facing righty Julio Teheran, but they apparently want to get Jose Bautista some at-bats, as he is starting in left field and batting him third. Conforto is hitting .327/.421/.531 with three home runs over his last 49 at-bats.
May 26 2018Conforto went 2-for-5 with a solo home run Saturday against the Brewers.Conforto was one of the few bright spots for the Mets on Saturday, as he drove his sixth home run of the season well over the right field wall in the third inning. He has now homered in consecutive games, the first time he has accomplished that this season. While he continues to struggle to hit for average, Conforto does have five home runs for the month, giving some hope that he can go on a hot stretch -- or several -- over the course of the season.
May 25 2018Conforto went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Brewers. The homer was his fifth of the season, but four of them have come in the last 14 games, during which Conforto is hitting .283 (15-for-53) with eight RBI and six runs. The 25-year-old still has a poor .225/.344/.372 slash line on the year, but he appears to finally be rounding into form after missing most of spring training and the early part of the regular season due to shoulder surgery.
May 19 2018Conforto went 4-for-4 with two RBI in Friday's win over the Diamondbacks.Conforto got a couple RBI singles in Friday's four-hit night, bringing his batting average up 31 points in one game. Conforto had been hovering around the .200 mark since the end of April, and has tallied only seven extra-base hits on the year. The outfielder's on-base percentage (.352) has also steadily declined over the past month, as he's only walked twice since the beginning of May.
May 19 2018Conforto went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored Saturday against the Diamondbacks.Conforto's second inning two-run home run was especially notable because it came off left-hander Patrick Corbin. He entered the game slugging just .190 in 21 at-bats against left-handed pitching on the season, but defied those struggles Saturday. After a lengthy power outage, Conforto now has three home runs over his past eight games and has seen his average rise from .198 to .234 in that span.
May 15 2018Conforto is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.Conforto has posted disappointing numbers this season after returning earlier than expected from offseason shoulder surgery, hitting just .208/.342/.344 in 117 plate appearances. He has started to pick it up lately, going 6-for-20 with a pair of homers in his last five games. Juan Lagares will start in center field in his absence.
May 12 2018Conforto went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Friday's 3-1 win over the Phillies. His ninth-inning shot off Hector Neris erased a 1-0 deficit and gave Conforto his third homer of the season, and his second in four games. The 25-year-old fell into a slump in the back half of April, but his 5-for-16 performance over those last four games have raised his batting average back over the Mendoza Line to .207. Conforto's .345 OBP remains strong, however, and if he continues to heat up he should quickly work his way back to the top of the batting order.
May 9 2018Conforto will hit seventh in the Mets' batting order against Cincinnati on Wednesday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.comThis is the lowest Conforto has be situated in the order since last June. The outfielder hasn't been able to shake out of his early season struggles at this point, hitting just .188/.333/.294 with two home runs and seven RBI in 26 games, so manager Mickey Callaway elected to try something different heading into Wednesday's series finale with southpaw Sal Romano on the mound for the Reds.
May 8 2018Conforto went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's win over the Reds. The performance ended an 0-for-13 skid for Conforto, while the homer was his first since his first game of the season April 5. The outfielder's .198/.347/.309 slash line suggests he returned too quickly from last year's shoulder surgery, and his playing time could remain spotty until he finds his swing consistently again.
May 6 2018Conforto is once again out of the lineup Sunday against Colorado.Conforto was passed up in favor of Brandon Zimmo against a right-handed pitcher Saturday, which is a bit more surprising than the fact he'll take a seat against lefty Kyle Freeland on Sunday. The outfielder's OPS stands at just .614 on the season, and that mark drops to .583 against left-handed pitching. In Conforto's stead, Juan Lagares will man center field and bat leadoff.
May 5 2018Conforto is not in the lineup Saturday against Colorado, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.Conforto is hitting a disappointing .187/.347/.267 with just one homer through 95 plate appearances so far this season. Brandon Nimmo will start in center field in his place.
May 2 2018Conforto is out of the lineup against the Braves on Wednesday.Conforto will receive a standard day off with left-hander Sean Newcomb taking the mound for Atlanta. In his place, Juan Lagares will start in center field and bat sixth.
Apr 28 2018Conforto is not in the lineup Saturday against the Pirates, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.Conforto is out of the lineup for the second time in three days. The 25-year-old returned earlier than expected from shoulder surgery, coming back in just the sixth game of the season. He hasn't hit all that well, though, with a .211/.395/.316 line which is poor everywhere except in on-base percentage. Juan Lagares will start in center field in his place Saturday.
Apr 26 2018Conforto is not in the lineup against St. Louis on Thursday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.Conforto will receive a standard day off after going 1-for-4 with a run scored during Wednesday's outing. In his place, Brandon Nimmo will start in center field and bat atop the Mets' order for the series finale.
Apr 25 2018Conforto went 0-for-2 with three walks and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals. The 25-year-old is taking his leadoff duties seriously, drawing at least one walk in eight straight games and 14 of 16 since coming off the disabled list. Conforto's .204 batting average is being hampered by a contact rate and BABIP both below his career averages, but he's still crossed the plate 12 times already thanks to a .403 OBP.
Apr 17 2018Conforto is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Nationals, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports. After starting each of the past four games, Conforto will open Tuesday's game on the bench with a tough lefty Gio Gonzalez toeing the rubber for the Nationals. In his place, Juan Lagares will start in center field and hit sixth.
Apr 11 2018Conforto went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI in Tuesday's 8-6 win over the Marlins. He's reached base safely in all five games since coming off the disabled list, slashing .313/.476/.563 with a homer, three RBI and four runs. Conforto should continue to produce strong fantasy value atop the Mets' batting order, with stolen bases being the only traditional 5x5 roto category in which he won't make a contribution.
Apr 11 2018Conforto is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Marlins, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.Conforto has started four of five games since returning from the disabled list, producing a 1.039 OPS in that span. He'll get a day off with lefty Jarlin Garcia taking the hill for Miami, allowing Juan Lagares to log another start in center field.
Apr 7 2018Conforto is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against Washington, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.Conforto will receive a standard maintenance day after making his season debut against the Nationals on Thursday. In his place, Juan Lagares draws the start in center while Asdrubal Cabrera will hit atop the order. Expect to see Conforto back in the starting nine Sunday.
Apr 5 2018The Mets activated Conforto (shoulder) from the 10-day disabled list Thursday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.Conforto ended up missing just five games during his seven-month recovery from shoulder surgery, amounting to a best-case scenario for the outfielder given that his status looked considerably bleaker heading into spring training. The Mets have yet to release their lineup for Thursday's series opener in Washington, but Conforto's activation suggests that he'll be included. While Conforto could need some time to shake off rust and may receive more frequent rest in his first few weeks back from the injury, he'll likely be plugged back in atop the lineup and take over as the team's primary center fielder, pushing the platoon of Juan Lagares and Brandon Nimmo back to the bench on a regular basis.
Apr 5 2018Conforto (shoulder) will lead off and play center field in his season debut Thursday against the Nationals, Tim Britton of The Athletic New York reports. The Mets wouldn't have activated Conforto earlier Thursday if they didn't feel he was ready to contribute right away, so it comes as no surprise that he'll settle back in as the club's everyday leadoff hitter. While Conforto could see an occasional day off in his first couple weeks back from left shoulder surgery, the Mets haven't voiced any concern about the 25-year-old's ability to handle a regular role. Fantasy owners in shallower formats who have been stashing Conforto may nonetheless want to see how he looks in his first handful of games back in action before activating him.
Apr 5 2018Conforto went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, a walk and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Nationals. It didn't take Conforto long to shake the rust off. He struck out and grounded into a double play in his first two at-bats before launching a go-ahead, two-run homer off Stephen Strasburg in the fifth inning. The 25-year-old looks healthy following September shoulder surgery and is looking to carry his breakout 2017 season into 2018.
Apr 4 2018Conforto (shoulder) will likely be activated Thursday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. He is traveling with the team to Washington, and the prevailing wisdom over the past couple of days has been that he could be activated Thursday, when first eligible, and that still appears likely. It's unclear exactly how the playing time is going to shake out, as none of the Mets' three best outfielders (Yoenis Cespedes, Jay Bruce and Conforto) are natural fits in center field, although that seems like Conforto's spot. The Mets may use their depth to spell Conforto once or twice a week early on to give his shoulder some rest.
Apr 3 2018Conforto (shoulder) is "ready to go" according to manager Mickey Callaway on Tuesday, Tim Britton of The Athletic New York reports."You will probably see him very soon," Callaway added. There was no official statement confirming that Conforto will be activated as soon as he's eligible to come off the disabled list Thursday, but all the reports lately have been very positive, so that seems to be the Mets' intention.
Apr 2 2018Conforto (shoulder) is set to take at-bats in a simulated game against rehabbing lefty Jason Vargas (hand) on Monday, Daniel Popper of The New York Daily News reports. His performance in those at-bats will go a long way towards determining whether Conforto will head out on a rehab assignment, or get activated from the disabled list as soon as he's eligible Thursday. Either way, the outfielder is well ahead of schedule in his recovery.
Apr 1 2018Conforto (shoulder) will meet with the team in New York on Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. There hasn't been an official update on Conforto's status, but the report heavily implies that he is close to a return. The outfielder is eligible to come off the disabled list Thursday.
Mar 29 2018Conforto (shoulder) may not need a rehab assignment before joining the big-league club, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. The expectation is that Conforto will be placed on the 10-day DL at some point Thursday, and that he could join the big-league club without a rehab assignment on April 5 or shortly after. It's also possible that he gets a week's worth of at-bats in the minors and joins the big club in mid April. Brandon Nimmo is starting in center field and leading off on Opening Day.
Mar 29 2018Conforto (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day DL on Thursday, MLB.com reports. The news on Conforto has been overwhelmingly positive. He has progressed quicker than expected from offseason shoulder surgery, even receiving clearance to man the outfield before Grapefruit League play concluded. Manager Mickey Callaway recently suggested that Conforto could bypass a rehab assignment and be activated as soon as April 5.
Mar 26 2018The Mets don't have a firm target date for when Conforto (shoulder) will be activated from the 10-day disabled list, but the outfield believes he'll only need 60 at-bats in rehab games before being ready to contribute for the big club, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports. "[Conforto] needs to get out there and play seven, eight nine innings multiple times before we [activate him]," Mets manager Mickey Callaway said Sunday. "He's so important to us he needs to be ready to play nine innings when is with us and play every day."The organization initially viewed May 1 as the likely date for Conforto to make his season debut with the big club, but a return at some point during April now appears realistic in light of the 25-year-old's substantial progress in his recovery from September shoulder surgery. Conforto appeared in consecutive Grapefruit League games Friday and Saturday and will man center field in an intrasquad scrimmage Monday, an indication that he has experienced no unexpected soreness in his left shoulder. There isn't a definitive timeline for when Conforto will reach the 60-at-bat benchmark or play full nine-inning games at extended spring training, but fantasy owners in nearly all formats should continue stashing him since a lengthy absence to begin the season doesn't appear to be in store.
Mar 25 2018The Mets informed Conforto (shoulder) Sunday that he would begin the season on the 10-day disabled list, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports.Even though Conforto has recovered from September shoulder surgery quicker than expected and was able to make his Grapefruit League debut in the outfield Saturday, the Mets never seemed to entertain the possibility of keeping the 25-year-old on the Opening Day roster. It's unclear if the Mets are still viewing May 1 as the target date for Conforto's season debut or if that recovery timetable has since been accelerated, but more clarity should come based on how he looks while getting more at-bats in at extended spring training. Brandon Nimmo and Juan Lagares are expected to split work in center field for the big club until Conforto is activated.
Mar 24 2018Conforto (shoulder) made his spring debut in the outfield Saturday, going 0-for-2 with two walks and a run scored before being replaced in center.Afterward, Conforto told Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News that the Mets want him to play two days in a row in the field before they will begin thinking about when to activate him. Conforto seems eager to force that decision, adding that he hopes to play again Sunday, per Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record. Mets manager Mickey Callaway has already acknowledged that Conforto will likely be back in action before May 1, and given his progress, it seems possible Conforto could beat that original estimate by multiple weeks. He will likely be jumped up significantly in drafts and auctions this weekend.
Mar 23 2018Conforto (shoulder) is scheduled to start in the outfield for Saturday's Grapefruit League contest, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.Manager Mickey Callaway went on to state that there's a good chance Conforto will be back in action before May 1. The outfielder was able to DH for the Mets on Friday after competing in a minor-league contest Thursday as he continues to ramp up activity after undergoing shoulder surgery last fall. Expect a more concise target date for his return in the near future.
Mar 22 2018Conforto (shoulder) will serve as the Mets' designated hitter in Friday's Grapefruit League game,Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports. This is a significant turnaround after reports Wednesday said that Conforto would be held out of Grapefruit League action for the rest of spring training. While he won't be tasked with any fielding duty, Conforto will get some at-bats as the DH to test his shoulder. It's still likely that Conforto misses the start of the season, but his continued progress could change things if they continue on this path.
Mar 21 2018Conforto (shoulder) won't appear in any Grapefruit League games this spring, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports. This isn't much of a surprise, as Conforto is still expected to miss the start of the regular season. He has played in a handful of minor-league games in the past week and appears to be doing well in his recovery from shoulder surgery, but not well enough that he's ready for a major-league game just yet. Conforto is reportedly optimistic that he can beat his May 1 target return date, but this news makes it clear that he's still at least a few weeks away from being fully ready to go.
Mar 20 2018Conforto (shoulder) played four innings of center field in a minor-league game Tuesday, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.Conforto also was able to add six plate appearances in the contest, one of which was an RBI double. It seems like the increased activity is going fine for the young outfielder, though it's unclear when he'll be able to play a full game in the field. Once he's healthy, Conforto will be the Mets' primary center fielder and likely leadoff hitter.
Mar 18 2018Conforto (shoulder) was scheduled to appear in another minor-league game Sunday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. It's expected that Conforto will see run in the outfield for the first time this spring after being limited to DH duty in his previous minor-league and simulated-game action. While the Mets have already indicated that Conforto won't be available for Opening Day, the 25-year-old has made substantial progress in his rehab from September surgery for his left shoulder and could beat the May 1 date the Mets had been projecting for his season debut. Once he's ready to go, Conforto will slide in as the Mets' leadoff hitter and everyday center fielder.
Mar 16 2018Conforto (shoulder) hopes to return before his expected return date of May 1, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.Conforto is recovering from September surgery on his left shoulder. He played in a minor-league game Friday, his first game of any kind since the surgery. He's feeling good and hopes to return early, though the team is remaining cautious and not counting on him being back before the start of May.
Mar 16 2018Conforto (shoulder) will play in a minor-league game Friday and is scheduled for four at-bats, James Wagner of The New York Times reports. This will be his first game action since he underwent shoulder surgery last fall, so it's a pretty major development. It was originally expected that Conforto would get in an exhibition game next week, so it sounds like he continues to be ahead of schedule. He will need at least several weeks worth of action to get his timing back and to be able to trust his shoulder on throws from the outfield, so it's still quite possible that he opens the year on the disabled list. That said, his owners won't be without him for as long as originally anticipated.
Mar 13 2018Conforto said Tuesday that he has progressed from September surgery on his left shoulder about as quickly as the Mets could have hoped and plans to make his Grapefruit League debut next week, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. At the time of Conforto's surgery, general manager Sandy Alderson said that the outfielder would require about six months to recover, with the Mets later pushing back his estimated return date to May 1. Conforto was able to resume playing catch in mid-February before gradually adding batting practice and outfield drills to his ledger in recent weeks, providing renewed hope that he'll be back in action for the Mets at some point during the season's first month. If Conforto does in fact return to the Grapefruit League lineup next week, he would likely be limited to DH duties initially. Since he won't be able to get in enough at-bats over the rest of the spring to be an Opening Day option, Conforto is still expected to begin the season the 10-day disabled list and continue his rehab at extended spring training or a minor-league affiliate. Once activated from the DL following what will likely be a multi-game rehab assignment, Conforto could immediately settle back into the role he filled last season as the Mets' leadoff man.
Mar 11 2018Conforto (shoulder) will increase his level of activity over the coming week, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.Conforto's rehab is progressing as planned, as he's regularly taking batting practice and recently began doing drills in the outfield. If his recovery continues without any setbacks, the team's goal of having him back at the beginning of May should be obtainable.
Mar 8 2018Conforto (shoulder) was a full participant in batting practice and was able to spend time chasing down fly balls in the outfield Thursday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.Conforto has made solid strides over the past week, starting with soft toss and swinging off a tee to hitting live batting practice twice in the last three days. The outfielder is continuing to ramp up activity following a surgical procedure to repair a torn posterior capsule in his left shoulder back in early September, and he remains on target for a return to the field at the beginning of May.
Mar 6 2018Conforto took swings off a tee, underhand toss, and in regular batting practice Tuesday, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.Conforto is working his way back from September shoulder surgery. Tuesday marked the first day that he's taken normal batting practice, which is a milestone, though he's still not likely to return until May.
Mar 5 2018Conforto (shoulder) will advance to facing overhand throws in the cage Tuesday, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports. This is a big step for Conforto, who had been splitting time between hitting front toss and swinging off a tee. He is one of the tougher players to value in drafts this spring, as he can be a four-category force when he's healthy, but it's unclear when he will be able to get into games and it's also unclear how much the shoulder injury will sap his offensive impact early on. Look for him to open the year on the 10-day DL, potentially making his debut in late April or early May.
Mar 1 2018Conforto (shoulder) graduated to splitting time between front toss and swinging off a tee Thursday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports. This marks another productive step in Conforto's recovery. The outfielder was able to take 25 front tosses in addition to 15 cuts off a tee and said that everything felt normal afterwards. He will continue to gradually recover from early September surgery to repair a torn posterior capsule in his left shoulder.
Feb 25 2018Conforto (shoulder) is expected to begin hitting soft toss in the batting cage this week, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. It's not a breakthrough in Conforto's recovery by any means, but his advancement to hitting soft toss is an improvement from the tee work he began last week. He's still got a ways to go in his rehab, but the young outfielder is certainly making strides in the right direction.
Feb 20 2018Conforto (shoulder) hit off a tee Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. This marks the first time the young outfielder has been able to swing a bat since undergoing shoulder surgery in September. At this point, Conforto is still eyeing a May 1 return, but the date still appears to be fairly fluid. Things should become clearer as he progresses further in his rehab process.
Feb 14 2018Conforto (shoulder) has been cleared to play catch during the club's spring camp but remains unable to begin swinging, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.Conforto continues to work his way back from early-September surgery to repair a torn posterior capsule in his left shoulder. Although this is a step in the right direction, it doesn't give us any indication on a more concise timetable for the outfielder and it remains likely that he will miss a few weeks at the start of the season. Expect more updates as spring training gets underway.
Jan 17 2018General manager Sandy Alderson stated that Conforto (shoulder) likely won't be ready to return at the beginning of the year, as the club is targeting May 1 for his first appearance of the 2018 season, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. This remains in line with what Alderson said in mid-December, as the star outfielder continues to recover from September surgery that repaired a torn posterior capsule in his left shoulder. Conforto will likely begin the year on the DL, but more should be known regarding his status once he's able to begin baseball activities with a more concise timetable coming into focus around the start of spring training.
Dec 10 2017General manager Sandy Alderson reported Sunday that Conforto (shoulder) likely won't be ready to play by Opening Day of the 2018 season, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.Conforto is still a few months away from resuming baseball activities following his early-September surgery to repair a torn posterior capsule in his left shoulder. A clearer picture of his timeline for return will come into focus once he's able to begin partaking in baseball activities again, but for the time being it looks like Conforto may open the season on the disabled list.
Dec 10 2017Conforto (shoulder) likely won't be ready to play by Opening Day of the 2018 season in the estimation of general manager Sandy Alderson, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.Conforto is still a few months away from resuming baseball activities following his early-September surgery to repair a torn posterior capsule in his left shoulder. A clearer picture of his timeline will come into focus once he's able to resume baseball activities, but Conforto may open the season on the disabled list.
Sep 23 2017Conforto said he won't resume baseball activities for six months and can't guarantee he'll be ready for Opening Day, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.General manager Sandy Alderson originally said Conforto's recovery from shoulder surgery would take roughly six months, but it now appears that's how long it will take until he's able to resume baseball activities. With this updated recovery timetable, it seems Conforto will miss a chunk of spring training and possibly the start of 2018. He put together a healthy .279/.384/.555 slash line with 27 homers in 109 games prior to injuring himself, so he should immediately reclaim an everyday spot in the outfield once he's eventually healthy.
Sep 5 2017General manager Sandy Alderson said Tuesday that Conforto's recovery from shoulder surgery will take "roughly six months," Marc Carig of Newsday reports.Conforto will undergo surgery in Los Angeles on Wednesday to repair a tear in the posterior capsule in his left shoulder. With this estimated recovery timetable, Conforto seems likely to miss the start of spring training, and he won't have any real margin for a setback if he's to start the regular season on time. The 24-year-old established himself as one of the game's top young hitters during his time on the field this season, and once healthy, he should immediately reclaim an everyday spot in the outfield.
Sep 4 2017Conforto will head to Los Angeles later this week to undergo surgery to repair a torn posterior capsule in his left shoulder, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports. The Mets aren't likely to issue a definitive recovery timetable for Conforto until after the procedure is completed, but surgeries similar to the one the outfielder is receiving typically require a 4-to-6 months of rehab. If that timeline holds true, Conforto will likely be limited at the very least when spring training opens in February, and could begin the season on the disabled list if his recovery trends closer to six months. The specter of a major surgery will make it difficult to bank on Conforto building on what's been a breakout 2017 campaign. The 24-year-old finished the season with a .279 average, 27 home runs and 68 RBI across 440 plate appearances in 109 games.
Sep 2 2017Conforto will have season-ending shoulder surgery within the next few days, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. After getting a second opinion on the injury Tuesday, it became apparent that Conforto would need surgery on his torn posterior capsule in the left shoulder. This procedure will eliminate any chance for the outfielder to return this season, and he will begin the lengthy process of rehabbing and recovering for spring training. He could still be a bit limited by that time, as this surgery typically sidelines a player for 4-to-6 months, but he should be at full health by Opening Day, barring any setbacks. In his place, Juan Lagares will likely man center field for the club throughout the rest of the 2017 campaign.
Aug 28 2017Conforto will get a second opinion on his dislocated shoulder Tuesday, James Wagner of The New York Times reports. Monday. The first opinion suggested that Conforto's torn posterior capsule in his left shoulder would require surgery. The Mets are hoping for good news, but the combination of that injury and a dislocated shoulder for Conforto means his season is likely over. Any news to the contrary should be considered a surprise; if he requires surgery, Conforto will be out 4-to-6 months.
Aug 25 2017The Mets placed Conforto (shoulder) on the 10-day disabled list Friday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports. The club is still trying to determine whether Confroto can return this season, as they're weighing surgery to fix his shoulder, which suffered a dislocation and torn posterior capsule. The Mets activated Jeurys Familia in a corresponding roster move.
Aug 25 2017Conforto will have his shoulder examined further Monday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.Following Monday's appointment, it will likely be easier to understand if Conforto will return this season and whether or not surgery will be required to repair his injured shoulder. With Conforto on the disabled list, Brandon Nimmo is starting in right field for Friday's game against the Nationals.
Aug 24 2017Conforto left Thursday's game with an apparent left arm or shoulder injury, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. He went to the ground in pain after swinging through a Robbie Ray pitch in the bottom of the fifth inning, and Conforto clutched his shoulder as he walked off the field. We'll await word from the team as to the exact nature and severity of the issue.
Aug 24 2017Conforto exited Thursday's game with a dislocated left shoulder, MLB.com's Joe Trezza reports.Following a seemingly standard swing-and-miss at the plate, Conforto fell to the ground and was removed from Thursday's matinee while clutching his left shoulder. The team has initially ruled the freak injury as a dislocated left shoulder, but he will likely undergo further tests within the next couple hours. A timetable has not yet been established by the club, but this is the type of injury that could jeopardize Conforto's availability for the rest of the season.
Aug 24 2017Conforto not only suffered a dislocated left shoulder but also a torn posterior capsule in the left shoulder as well, an injury that may require surgery, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports Thursday. With just a dislocation, it sounded like a return this season for Conforto would still be plausible. This news, however, greatly diminishes those odds. Expect him to get a second opinion before opting for surgery, but given the severity of this injury, it's hard to imagine rest and rehabilitation would get him back in time for the end of the season either.
Aug 23 2017Conforto (thumb) is starting in right field and batting third Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.Conforto was scratched from Tuesday's contest due to a thumb issue, but the 24-year-old never thought it was anything serious, and he's back in action after missing just one game. He'll face Zack Godley in his return to the lineup.
Aug 22 2017Conforto was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with a thumb issue, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.Conforto apparently tweaked his thumb during pregame warmups, and the issue will keep him out of the contest. According to Carig, Conforto doesn't believe it's anything more than minor inflammation from overuse, so it doesn't sound like he'll be sidelined for too long. Consider him day-to-day. Matt Reynolds is now playing right field, batting sixth.
Aug 21 2017Conforto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during Monday's loss to Arizona. The homer pulled the Mets to within a run in the bottom of the 10th inning, but Fernando Rodney was able to rebound and lock down the save. Conforto continues to impress and now has 13 homers through 37 second-half games. He's up to a .278/.385/.559 slash line for the campaign and has established himself as a set-and-forget fantasy option in the majority of settings.
Aug 18 2017Conforto is out of the lineup against Miami on Friday.Conforto will receive a rare day off following 21 straight starts, going 20-for-84 (.238 average) with seven home runs and 12 RBI during that span. In his place, Juan Lagares picks up another start in center.
Aug 11 2017Conforto went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and a walk Friday against the Phillies.Conforto hit his 25th blast of the season to open the scoring for the Mets in the second inning of a divisional win. He's been a terrific fantasy option all year, and with four homers over his last six games, he's in the midst of another hot streak.
Aug 10 2017Conforto will move down to the cleanup spot for Thursday's series opener against Miami, and will likely remain in the middle of the order moving forward, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.Conforto has been deployed as a leadoff hitter for most of the 2017 season, but manager Terry Collins believes he's best suited in a middle-of-the-order role. Unless something changes, don't expect to see the 24-year-old's name at the top of the lineup for the rest of the year. Throughout 95 games this season, Conforto is hitting .289/.393/.566 with 23 home runs and 58 RBI.
Aug 10 2017Conforto went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and two runs scored during Thursday's win over Philadelphia. This was Conforto's 10th homer of the second half, and after primarily leading off since the All-Star break, a shift to the cleanup spot would obviously offer a lot more RBI opportunities for the slugger. Now up to a .290/.396/.573 slash line with 24 bombs, 61 RBI and 67 runs, Conforto is establishing himself as a high-end fantasy asset and appears locked in for a monster second half.
Aug 9 2017Conforto went 1-for-2 with two walks, a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Rangers. He set the Mets on the path to victory with a leadoff shot in the bottom of the first inning, his 23rd homer of the year. Conforto's returned to his early-season form with a bang, posting a .310/.378/.630 slash line in 25 games since the All-Star break with nine home runs, 17 RBI and 18 runs
Aug 5 2017Conforto went 1-for-4 with a solo homer Saturday against the Dodgers.Conforto blasted his 22nd bomb of the season to open the scoring for the Mets in the first inning of a game they'd go on to lose. Although this was just his first extra-base hit since July 28, fantasy owners have little to complain about, as he owns a .295 batting average along with a .571 slugging percentage.
Jul 29 2017Conforto went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs in Friday's win over the Mariners. The Seattle native put on a show for family and friends in his first career game at Safeco Field. Conforto now has 21 homers on the year and is slashing .317/.379/.750 in 15 games since the All-Star break with seven home runs, 12 runs and 13 RBI.
Jul 25 2017Conforto is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Padres.Conforto is in the midst of an eight-game hitting streak and holds an 1.114 OPS since returning from the disabled list July 9. Nonetheless, he'll get a night off Tuesday, allowing Curtis Granderson to log a start in center field for the evening.
Jul 23 2017Conforto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's loss to Oakland. The two-hit showing was Conforto's fourth straight, and he now sports a seven-game hitting streak with four homers, seven RBI and five runs. Conforto is up to a .294/.408/.581 slash line with 19 bombs, 52 RBI and 54 runs for the campaign, and he's been starting in center field of late to keep his hot bat in the lineup. The Mets have a crowded outfield, but sitting Conforto is becoming more and more difficult.
Jul 21 2017Conforto went 2-for-2 with two walks and a double in Thursday's win over the Cardinals. He's now slashing .296/.424/.593 in seven games since the All-Star break, pushing his OPS back up to .953. Conforto is having a breakout season, and at just 24 years old he should remain a key component in the Mets' offense for years to come.
Jul 21 2017Conforto went 2-for-4 with a pair of homers and four RBI Friday against the Athletics.Conforto crushed his 17th and 18th bombs of the campaign to help lead the Mets to a home win. He's been an absolute fantasy superstar this year, as he's rewarded fantasy managers with a .289/.406/.570 slash line.
Jul 17 2017Conforto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Monday's loss to St. Louis.Conforto sports a rock-solid .278/.399/.544 slash line with 16 homers, 46 RBI and 50 runs through 74 games. The Mets have a crowded outfield, and as long as everyone is healthy, the youngster isn't going to receive full-time at-bats. However, his bat will keep him in the lineup enough to provide solid fantasy results in the majority of settings.
Jul 14 2017Conforto went 2-for-4 with two walks, a home run and four RBI in Friday's 14-2 rout of the Rockies. After going 1-for-4 in his return to action right before the All-Star break, Conforto kicked off the second half with a performance that looked more like one from his fantastic April (.321/.394/.661) than his rough June (.206/.383/.317). The 24-year-old has already set new career highs in homers (15), RBI (45) and runs (48), and he appears to be cementing his spot in the Mets outfield for years to come.
Jul 8 2017Conforto (hand) was activated from the DL prior to Saturday's game against the Cardinals, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.Conforto returns to the team after missing 10 games due to a hand contusion that he suffered June 25. The outfielder is not in the lineup during his first contest back with the team, as manager Terry Collins elected to give him another day off after playing with High-A St. Lucie on Thursday. In his place, Granderson will continue to man center field, but Conforto should be available off the bench.
Jul 7 2017Conforto (hand) went 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored during his rehab start for High-A St. Lucie on Thursday. The outfielder is eligible to return from the 10-day disabled list Saturday, and although he may need one more tuneup performance, Conforto could make at least one return appearance before the upcoming All-Star break. It'll be interesting to see how the Mets divvy up playing time if they have Conforto, Yoenis Cespedes, Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce.
Jul 5 2017Conforto (hand) will take regular batting practice Wednesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. The young outfielder's hand reportedly feels much better already, and Conforto believes that he'll be able to return prior to the All-Star break. No official timetable for his return has been released, but between this development and the encouraging words, things appear to be looking up.
Jul 5 2017Conforto (hand) will join High-A St. Lucie on Thursday for a minor-league rehab assignment, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports.Conforto was able to take batting practice Wednesday with no issues, and he's now set to tackle the last obstacle in his recovery from a hand bruised hand. The 24-year-old is eligible to return from the disabled list Saturday, and it sounds like he'll be able to do that if everything goes well during his minor-league tune-up.
Jul 1 2017Conforto was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday with a bruised left hand. While we await official word on the results of Friday's examinations, Conforto's official diagnosis remains a hand contusion. The move is retroactive to June 28, so he'll be eligible to return July 8 if he's ready, though the team may decide to hold him out past All-Star break to give him some extra time to heal either way. Curtis Granderson, who has five homers in his last 10 games, will continue start in center field almost every day while Conforto is sidelined. Zack Wheeler was activated from the disabled list in a corresponding move and is set to start Saturday's game against the Phillies.
Jul 1 2017Conforto (hand) is not in Saturday's lineup and is expected to be placed on the DL, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports. He will miss his fifth straight game with a bruised hand, and manager Terry Collins indicated that there would be an official announcement regarding a DL stint prior to the game against the Phillies. Assuming he is placed on the DL, the soonest he could return would be July 7. While he is sidelined, Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce figure to play almost every day.
Jun 30 2017Conforto (hand) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies. This marks the fourth straight game out of the lineup for Conforto as he recovers from a hand injury that he suffered this past Sunday. There has been no word from the team on his condition, but he likely would have already been placed on the disabled list if he needed it (especially since they can no longer retroactively put him there), so the 24-year-old should be considered day-to-day while Curtis Granderson nabs another start in center.
Jun 30 2017Conforto (hand) will likely land on the disabled list if he is unable to play Saturday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.Conforto underwent his third round of examinations (an MRI and CT scan) prior to Friday's game, giving the Mets reason to believe that all is not right with their star outfielder. He will remain day-to-day as the Mets await results from his tests, but it appears more and more likely that they will have to place him on DL after missing the past three games, not including Friday's series opener against Philadelphia.
Jun 29 2017Conforto (hand) is not in the lineup Thursday against the Marlins.Conforto will be held out for a third straight contest as he continues to nurse a hand injury that he sustained in Sunday's win over the Giants. There hasn't been any update on his status at this point, so he'll remain day-to-day while Curtis Granderson draws another start for him in center field.
Jun 28 2017Conforto (hand) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Kristie Ackert of the NY Daily News reports.Conforto left Sunday's game after getting hit in the left wrist at the plate, and was held out of Tuesday's contest following an off day. The Mets will take the side of precaution when it comes to their star outfielder, but there hasn't been much news in terms of a timetable for the 24-year-old as of this moment. He should be considered day-to-day for now until more information becomes present.
Jun 28 2017Manager Terry Collins said after Tuesday's game that the team is unsure when Conforto (hand) will be ready to play again, Newsday reports.A second round of X-rays confirmed that there are no breaks in Conforto's hand, but he does have a severe bone bruise and remained unable to even grip a bat as of Tuesday. While there has been nothing to suggest a DL move is imminent, it sounds like Conforto is in danger of missing additional time as he waits for the treatment to take effect and the discomfort to subside.
Jun 27 2017Conforto (hand) is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Marlins.Conforto, who exited Sunday's game early after being hit by a pitch, was hoping to return to the lineup after Monday's off-day, but he's apparently still feeling some lingering pain. He's expected to see a doctor Tuesday, according to Matt Ehalt of The Record. Curtis Granderson will continue to start in center field with Conforto sidelined.
Jun 27 2017X-rays on Conforto's injured hand revealed a severe bone bruise Tuesday, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.Conforto reportedly had troubles swinging a bat Tuesday so manager Terry Collins withheld the young center fielder from the lineup ahead of their game against the Marlins. It's unclear when his hand will be healed enough to allow him to rejoin the starting lineup, but for now Conforto should be considered day-to-day.
Jun 25 2017Conforto exited Sunday's game against the Giants after being hit in the left wrist at the plate, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.Conforto stayed on the ground for about one minute while the Mets' training staff took a look at him. He stayed in the game to run the bases, but Brandon Nimmo replaced him in left field the next inning. The 24-year-old presumably received x-rays, so we should know more about the severity of the injury soon.
Jun 25 2017Conforto (hand) hopes to return Tuesday in Miami, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.Conforto was struck on the padding of his left hand below the pinkie finger in an at-bat Sunday against the Giants. He was forced to leave the game due to the injury, but the X-rays came back negative. The 24-year-old sounds optimistic he'll be able to rejoin the lineup after the team's day off Monday, so there's no reason for owners to panic at this point.
Jun 24 2017Conforto is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants. The Mets are facing a right-hander in Johnny Cueto and Conforto is coming off a three-hit game after a couple days out of the lineup (against lefties), but there has been nothing yet to suggest an injury is in play. Manager Terry Collins will deploy Curtis Granderson in center field.
Jun 24 2017Conforto went 3-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBI in Friday's win over the Giants.Moved down to fifth in the batting order and shifted to right field in place of the resting Jay Bruce, Conforto regained some of the spark he showed at the plate earlier in the year. He had been hitting just .164 (9-for-55) with one home run and four RBI in June prior to Friday's outburst, but he's capable of heating up again at any time.
Jun 22 2017Conforto is out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Dodgers. The Dodgers are turning to another lefty on the hill Thursday with Hyun-Jin Ryu starting, so the Mets will give Conforto another night off. Conforto has made marked improvement against southpaws this season, hitting .238 with a .823 OPS after hitting .104 with a .295 off lefties in 2016. That said, Conforto had cooled off considerably of late overall with a .147/.341/.176 slash line over his last 14 games. Look for Conforto to rejoin the lineup Friday in San Francisco.
Jun 21 2017Conforto will take a seat for Wednesday's contest against the Dodgers. With southpaw Rich Hill on the mound, Conforto will take the day off in favor of Curtis Granderson in center. A game on the bench may prove to help Conforto, as the outfielder has recorded multiple strikeout games in four of the past five affairs.
Jun 18 2017Conforto went 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Nationals. After a bout with a back injury earlier in the week, Conforto returned to the lineup for the first two games with the Nationals, but it wasn't until Sunday that he made his mark on the series. He reached base on three occasions in a game for the first time since June 6 and even made an impact in the running game, where he typically isn't a factor. Fantasy owners who may have been on the fence about activating Conforto for the coming week following the injury can probably feel good about rolling him out after Sunday's performance.
Jun 16 2017Conforto (back) is in the lineup for Friday's game against the Nationals.Conforto missed the last three games with a sore back, but he's apparently made progress in the last 24 hours and will serve as the leadoff hitter, while manning center field. While his return is obviously a positive sign, it's still worth keeping an eye on Conforto's status for the next few days.
Jun 15 2017Conforto (back) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.Conforto will head to the bench for the third straight game as he continues to deal with a stiff back. The 24-year-old was able to pinch hit in Wednesday's series finale against the Cubs, so it seems like he should be ready for a full return in the coming days. Juan Lagares will again make the start in center field for Conforto.
Jun 14 2017Conforto (back) is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Cubs.Conforto's back may still be acting up, but it also is a logical day to give the young outfielder a rest given that left-hander Mike Montgomery is taking the hill for Chicago. Juan Lagares will pick up another start in center field to replace him.
Jun 14 2017Conforto (back) is feeling much better Wednesday and could contribute off the bench against the Cubs, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. This is excellent news for the young outfielder, as it bodes well for his chances to avoid a trip to the disabled list. Juan Lagares will man center field in his stead Wednesday, but it seems like Conforto will be back in action in the next few days.
Jun 13 2017Conforto (back) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.Conforto will be held out for the second straight game after it was reported he was dealing with a stiff back Monday. The Mets didn't think the initial injury was anything to worry about, so he should still be considered day-to-day for the time being. Juan Lagares is starting for him in center field for the game.
Jun 12 2017Conforto was scratched from Monday's contest against the Cubs due to back stiffness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. It was originally thought that Conforto was simply getting the day off, but it now appears he's getting the day to rest his ailing back. It doesn't appear to be anything overly serious, as the Mets think he'll be able to pinch hit Monday, so consider him day-to-day for the time being.
Jun 12 2017Conforto is not in the lineup for Monday's series opener against the Cubs, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.Despite collecting a pair of hits in Sunday's win over the Braves, Conforto will head to the bench for the third time in five games. Curtis Granderson will take over for him in center field, batting leadoff.
Jun 11 2017Conforto went 2-for-4 with a double and a run during Sunday's win over Atlanta. The outfielder entered the contest with an 0-for-11 stretch at the dish through his previous four games, so it was nice to see him end that funk Sunday. Conforto owns an impressive .293/.412/.592 slash line with 14 home runs, 36 RBI and 44 runs for the campaign. However, with Yoenis Cespedes back from a lengthy injury absence, Conforto could see a slight decline in playing time going forward.
Jun 3 2017Conforto went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's loss to the Pirates. He's begun to slow down a little at the plate -- Conforto hadn't homered since May 23, and hasn't had a multi-hit game since May 24 -- but his numbers on the season remain impressive, as he sports a .305/.401/.629 slash line with 14 homers, 36 RBI and 37 runs. With Yoenis Cespedes' return date from a hamstring injury once again seemingly up in the air, Conforto will remain a fixture in the Mets' lineup for the time being.
May 28 2017Conforto is not in the starting lineup against the Pirates on Sunday. The outfielder has started the last 14 games but has gone just 2-for-14 over his last three, so manager Terry Collins has opted to give him a rest. Conforto's spot in left field will be taken over by Curtis Granderson in the evening contest against the Bucs, and Juan Lagares will enter the lineup in center.
May 24 2017Conforto went 3-for-4 with a pair of homers and four RBI in Tuesday's win over the Padres. He was also hit by a pitch.Conforto has been on an absolute crusade against opposing pitching this year, lighting up the scoreboard largely out of the leadoff spot in the Mets' lineup. He's tied for second in the National League in homers with 13, just two behind co-MLB leaders Mike Trout and Aaron Judge, and Conforto's 31 RBI and 34 runs are elite numbers as well.
May 20 2017Conforto went 1-for-2 with a double, three walks and three runs during Saturday's win over the Angels. The surging outfielder now sports a .322/.417/.669 slash line and is up to 11 home runs, 27 RBI and 31 runs for the year. Conforto is proving to be an elite fantasy asset, and considering his pedigree and track record moving through the minors, his current run likely isn't a flash in the pan.
May 19 2017Conforto went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 3-0 win over the Angels. It was Conforto's 11th home run of the season, as he continues to establish himself as one of the game's most promising young offensive talents. He's raised his slash line to an impressive .319/.403/.664 on the season, and should continue to get opportunities to produce as one of the anchors of New York's offense. He is paying dividends for fantasy owners this season.
May 17 2017Conforto went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's loss to Arizona. The lefty masher ripped a two-run homer to the opposite field off southpaw Patrick Corbin, highlighting his growth as a hitter this year -- although he did go hitless with two strikeouts for the remainder of the game. Still, Conforto is rapidly developing into one of the league's top bats, a disciplined line-drive hitter with power to all fields whose consistency has made him a pleasure to own in fantasy.
May 15 2017Conforto went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a triple, a home run, four runs scored and three RBI in Sunday's loss to the Brewers. The 24-year-old seems unstoppable at the plate at the moment and is now hitting .382/.469/.782 over his last 14 games with five homers, 15 RBI and 16 runs. Conforto's been a fixture in left field since Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) got hurt, but when Cespedes returns expect one of them to displace Curtis Granderson from center field.
May 12 2017Conforto (hamstring) is back in the lineup Friday against the Brewers.Conforto had been dealing with some hamstring tightness and the team held him out Wednesday, with the hope that two full days of rest (with Thursday's off day) would provide enough maintenance for the injury. Indeed, Conforto is back leading off and manning left field Friday against right-hander Matt Garza. The 24-year-old is batting .351/.435/.675 with seven homers against right-handed pitching this season.
May 10 2017Conforto is not in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Giants. It's his first day off in 17 games and allows Juan Lagares to get the start in center field as Curtis Granderson shifts over to left. Conforto has been a bright spot for the Mets this season, leading the team with a .330 batting average and a .425 OBP.
May 10 2017Conforto is out of the lineup Wednesday due to hamstring tightness, but manager Terry Collins said Conforto should be back by Friday, Anthony Rieber of Newsday reports. The hamstring issue will force Conforto to the bench for the first time since April 19, but the Mets seems optimistic that two full days of rest (with Thursday's off day) will provide sufficient maintenance. Conforto homered in Tuesday's win, his eighth home run this season, and is now batting .330/.425/.648 for the year.
May 9 2017Conforto went 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored in Monday's win over the Giants. He continues to get on base at a prolific rate, and while Conforto's .325/.426/.614 slash line might be better suited to the heart of the Mets order he isn't likely to move out of the leadoff spot given the trouble the team had in April trying to find someone who could adequately fill it. Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) is still a couple of weeks away from returning to action, but Conforto has done more than enough to justify remaining in the starting lineup even after Cespedes is back.
May 9 2017Conforto went 2-for-5 with a double, a homer and two runs against the Giants on Tuesday. His development as a hitter has been truly impressive, as Conforto's excellent approach and effortless-seeming power have his OPS sitting at a lofty 1.073. Even once Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) returns, Conforto has proven he deserves an everyday slot in the Mets' lineup -- he's been their best hitter, bar none. With Curtis Granderson currently hitting .136, the choice doesn't look like it'll be difficult for manager Terry Collins once the time comes.
May 3 2017Conforto went 3-for-6 with two doubles, two RBI and a run in Wednesday's 16-5 rout of the Braves. He's loving life in the leadoff spot for the Mets, getting on base at a spectacular clip (.427 for the season) and slugging an even .700 after this performance. There's no doubt that Conforto is an everyday player for the Mets moving forward, so don't hesitate to jump in head-first -- aside from speed, he offers the entire fantasy package.
May 3 2017Conforto went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's loss to the Braves. The 24-year-old's now put together three multi-hit performances in his last four games, pushing his slash line on the season to .344/.421/.688. With their pitching staff in tatters and the Mets needing all the offense they can get, Conforto figures to remain a fixture in the starting lineup even after Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) gets healthy.
May 1 2017Conforto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a two-run single in Monday's 7-5 win over the Braves. The home run was Conforto's seventh of the season and came in the first inning against Braves ace Julio Teheran. The 24-year-old outfielder now has three home runs in his last three games after blasting a pair of round-trippers Saturday. He's now up to an impressive slash line of .333/.408/.700 and is seeing everyday playing time with Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) on the shelf. Conforto is a must-start in all formats right now.
Apr 29 2017Conforto went 3-for-4 with two homers and three RBI in Saturday's victory over the Nationals.Conforto launched a two-run bomb, his fifth of the season, off Stephen Strasburg to break a one-all tie before extending the Mets lead with another homer later in the game. After starting the month as a part-time starter, he's been a regular in the Mets lineup since April 18, and he's responded by blasting four homers over his last seven games, making him a player who needs to remain in fantasy lineups until further notice.
Apr 28 2017Conforto will likely take over an everyday role in the Mets' outfield with Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) on the DL, Marc Carig of Newsday reports. With Jay Bruce spending time at first base in place of Lucas Duda (elbow), Conforto has already been making the most his opportunities. The 24-year-old is hitting .302 with four home runs and eight RBI and ranks second on the team with a .989 OPS. Conforto will have a chance to truly establish himself as a regular in the Mets' lineup, but will need to establish consistency if he wants to remain there. He hit just .220 over 109 games last season and racked up 89 strikeouts in the process.
Apr 24 2017Conforto went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Sunday's 6-3 loss to the Nationals. The Mets only had six hits on the night, and it's scary to imagine what their injury-ravaged lineup might look like right now without Conforto in it. The 24-year-old is now slashing .361/.432/.722 with four homers in 44 plate appearances, and with Jay Bruce needed at first base while Lucas Duda (elbow) is out, Conforto should continue seeing a full workload at least through the end of the month.
Apr 22 2017Conforto got the start in left field Friday and went 2-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in an extra-inning loss to the Nationals.Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) is likely out through the weekend, affording Conforto further opportunities to prove he deserves to be much more than a part-time player. The 24-year-old is now slashing .345/.417/.690 through 36 plate appearances in 2017.
Apr 18 2017Conforto is leading off and playing center field Tuesday against the Phillies. The young outfielder is batting a hot .353 on the season, so he'll get the nod in center over the struggling Curtis Granderson. Conforto's playing time is still somewhat sporadic at this time, but if he continues to mash atop the Mets batting order, he could force his way into more playing time, especially if Granderson continues to scuffle.
Apr 12 2017Conforto was added to the Mets lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Marc Carig of Newsday reports. He'll lead off and man center field. The Mets were originally planning on using the same lineup that put up 14 runs in Tuesday's win, but manager Terry Collins ultimately elected to scratch Curtis Granderson for an undisclosed reason, allowing Conforto to move into the starting nine. In his lone other start this season Sunday against the Marlins, Conforto went 1-for-3 with a home run, walk and two RBI.
Apr 12 2017Conforto went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk and three runs scored against the Phillies on Wednesday.Inserted into the leadoff spot at the last minute with the Mets scratching Curtis Granderson, Conforto provided a major spark, with his 413-foot homer to left-center particularly standing out. That opposite-field power is part of why Conforto has such high upside, but he's in a tough position with the Mets right now. With Granderson, Yoenis Cespedes and Jay Bruce occupying the everyday outfield spots, there's no room for Conforto to get consistent at-bats; they can't even play lefty-righty because Granderson, Bruce and Conforto all hit left-handed. Until this situation is changed by a trade or an injury, it'll remain frustrating for Conforto owners.
Apr 9 2017Conforto went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two RBI in Sunday's 5-2 win against Miami.Conforto's first home run of the season came off Marlins starter Edinson Volquez in the sixth inning. Because of New York's crowded outfield situation, the promising young lefty swinger has been left out in the cold as far as playing time is concerned to start the year. Sunday was his first start, and he made the most of it. Conforto's All-Star potential makes him worth a stash in deep mixed, AL-only and dynasty leagues, but he's not worth rostering in most other formats until he gains more playing time.
Mar 30 2017Conforto has made the major-league roster, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. The debate over where to assign him has raged throughout spring training, but with Juan Lagares (oblique) beginning the season on the disabled list, New York decided Conforto was needed more in the majors. The lefty hitter acquitted himself well in exhibition work with a .300/.323/.550 line, three home runs and five RBI in 62 plate appearances. Fantasy players in deep mixed leagues have a more concrete reason to stash him as soon as possible. If regular playing time were to open up, the 24-year-old could offer at least a tease of his high ceiling.
Mar 26 2017Conforto went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run, his third long ball of the spring, in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Braves. The 24-year-old's path to a spot on the big league roster seems to be getting clearer with Brandon Nimmo (hamstring) still not back in action and Juan Lagares (oblique) getting hurt as well Saturday, but the Mets have said consistently this spring that they'd like to see Conforto get regular at-bats, something that wouldn't happen even as the fourth outfielder in the majors. With the team running out of healthy outfielders, though, the sweet-swinging lefty's development may have to wait.
Mar 25 2017Conforto will likely get some starts in center field in the coming days, Newsday's Marc Carig reports. This seemed inevitable, given the fact that the Mets' best four outfielders are all naturally corner guys, so they will have to sacrifice defense at times in order to get their best hitters as many at-bats as possible. Conforto might be the team's second best offensive outfielder in terms of pure talent (behind Yoenis Cespedes), but it's really hard to project how much playing time he will see while Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce remain in the fold.
Mar 2 2017Conforto went 2-for-3 in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals. He's now 7-for-13 to begin his spring but, perhaps more importantly, three of those hits have come against left-handed pitchers, including Wednesday's opposite-field single off Brett Cecil. Conforto's still likely ticketed for Triple-A Las Vegas to begin the season due to the Mets' crowded outfield, but his value in keeper or dynasty leagues remains very high.
Feb 27 2017Conforto went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored during Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers. The homer, his second of the spring already, came off lefty Daniel Stumpf, an encouraging sign for Conforto given his struggles in the majors against same-side pitching. The 23-year-old needs a big training camp to keep from beginning the season at Triple-A Las Vegas, and while it's still extremely early, so far he's more than delivering.
Feb 25 2017Conforto went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's Grapefruit League opener against the Red Sox.The 23-year-old will need a big spring to avoid beginning the regular season back at Triple-A, but launching a homer in his first game is a great way to get the front office's attention. Conforto has hit just .129/.191/.145 in 62 big league at-bats against same-side pitching, but his second hit Friday was a single off lefty Henry Owens. Improvement in that area will be crucial not just for his 2017 fantasy value, but for his overall future career prospects.
Feb 18 2017Conforto will work on improving against left-handed pitchers this spring, as he attempts to win a spot on the 25-man roster, The New York Post reports. "He just needs at-bats against left-handed pitching, he knows he can hit them, he's hit them his whole life," hitting coach Kevin Long said Friday. "You have got to get the opportunity to do it, and when you do it, I don't think it's the end of the world if he has an 0-for-4 day against them, but it would be nice to be able to get him some at-bats against lefties and get him comfortable."The 23-year-old has an uphill battle to break camp on the big league roster due to the Mets' overcrowded outfield picture, but the first order of business is to boost last season's miserable .104/.170/.125 line against lefties in 48 at-bats. It'll likely take a trade or injury to get Conforto on the Opening Day roster, but if he shows this spring that he can be an everyday player in the majors, he could force the Mets to get creative and find a way to give him regular playing time.
Feb 9 2017Conforto could begin the season at Triple-A Las Vegas if the Mets don't make a trade to clear up their outfield logjam, The NY Daily News reports. "I don't think we're going to piecemeal it [in the outfield] this year," Mets GM Sandy Alderson said Wednesday. "I don't want to forecast what's going to happen in spring training, but I don't see [Conforto] picking up at-bats at first base, picking up ABs here and there."The team already has three expensive veterans in Yoenis Cespedes, Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce on the roster, while Juan Lagares is locked in as the primary defensive replacement, leaving little room for Conforto to get regular at-bats in the majors. Alderson's comments Wednesday suggested that the organization would prefer the 23-year-old get consistent playing time at Triple-A rather than sit on the bench in New York, so unless the GM is able to make a trade before Opening Day, think twice before investing heavily in him in re-draft formats.
Oct 6 2016Conforto may learn to play first base during the offseason, Matt Ehalt of the Record reports.Although he's typically an outfielder, Conforto said the Mets may have him add first base to his portfolio. Neither James Loney nor Lucas Duda stood out at first base for New York, as both finished the 2016 campaign with batting averages below .270. However, Conforto didn't excel at the plate either, as he ended the year with a .220/.310/.414 line.
Sep 26 2016Conforto is not in the lineup Monday against the Marlins.Conforto garnered more playing time as of late due to the struggles of Jay Bruce, but Bruce will get the nod Monday for the second day in a row. That being said, Conforto has been hitting very well as of late, going 6-for-16 with three extra-base hits and seven RBI over his past eight games.
Sep 25 2016Conforto is not in the lineup Sunday against the Phillies, Adam Rubin of ESPN reports. With Jay Bruce returning to the starting lineup, Conforto will sit out of Sunday's contest. Over the last seven games, Conforto has gone 5-for-15 with a home run and five RBI.
Sep 4 2016Conforto is the odd man out of the starting outfield Sunday against the Nationals.Conforto started in center field Saturday with Curtis Granderson in place of Jay Bruce in right Saturday. Despite his diving catch to rob Daniel Murphy of a hit, Conforto sits with Granderson and Bruce manning center and right field Sunday. Manager Terry Collins will continue to juggle three outfielders for two spots.
Sep 2 2016Conforto is out of the lineup Friday against Washington.Conforto, who was promoted and started Thursday, sits Friday with Yoenis Cespedes returning to the lineup. Conforto went 1-for-3 Thursday, but grounded into a 1-2-3 double play with bases loaded, none out in the eighth and the Mets trailing 6-2. He will see periodic action in left and center in September with the Mets only facing NL the rest of the way.
Sep 1 2016Conforto has been recalled from Triple-A and is in the lineup Thursday against the Marlins. As expected, Conforto will rejoin the Mets for the first time since being optioned to Las Vegas on Aug. 12. The 23-year-old has fared well at Triple-A, hitting .500 with three home runs and three doubles since the demotion. He figures to see playing time against right-handers over the final month of the season.
Aug 30 2016Conforto will rejoin the Mets on Thursday, ESPN's Adam Rubin reports. The young outfielder has turned things around at the dish since being sent down to Triple-A earlier in August, hitting .500 with three home runs and three doubles over the past two weeks. Once rosters expand Thursday, Conforto will rejoin the big league club and should see semi-regular playing time when the Mets face right-handers.
Aug 23 2016Conforto continues to excel at Triple-A Las Vegas since his demotion but still is unlikely to rejoin the Mets until the rosters expand September 1.Since his demotion to Triple-A, Conforto is batting .550/.581/.950, with four homers and four doubles in 43 plate appearances. He has almost equally split his playing time between left and center field for the 51s. While it is a small sample size, Conforto likely needed to hit the ground running due to his struggles in the majors leading to his demotion. It remains to be seen how manager Terry Collins will deploy Conforto when he rejoins the parent club.
Aug 18 2016Conforto, who has raked since his demotion to Triple-A Las Vegas, likely won't be promoted before the rosters expand September 1, ESPN New York reports. With his double in the first inning Thursday, Conforto is now 14-for-20 with two homers and six runs batted in over five-plus games. When Conforto does return, his playing time most probably will come in center field with Yoenis Cespedes in left and Jay Bruce in right.
Aug 10 2016Conforto is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Diamondbacks. With southpaw Robbie Ray on the hill for the Diamondbacks, it's not surprising to see Conforto riding the pine. Ty Kelly, of all people, will get the start in left field and hit second Wednesday.
Aug 7 2016Conforto is in the lineup Sunday against Detroit.Conforto sat Saturday for the second straight game but gets back in the lineup to face a righty Sunday. He has struggled since the break - going 8-for-37 - which has landed on the bench more frequently lately. Conforto will be in left field, batting sixth.
Aug 6 2016Conforto is out of the lineup for Saturday's contest with Detroit. This marks the second consecutive game Conforto will be held out of the starting lineup as Ty Kelly take his spot in left and bats second. Conforto has gone 8-for-37 (.216) since the All-Star break but due to five walks he picked up, he has a .326 OBP during that time.
Aug 5 2016Conforto is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Tigers. He will find himself on the bench against right-hander Justin Verlander, even with the DH available in an American League park. Conforto finished July on an 0-for-13 slide and is 3-for-13 to begin August, so while he figures to continue seeing semi-regular starts with Yoenis Cespedes (quad) on the DL, Brandon Nimmo may eat further into Conforto's at-bats.
Jul 28 2016Conforto is out of the lineup Thursday against the Rockies, ESPN's Adam Rubin reports. The deployment of Conforto this season has been maddening for his fantasy owners, as he was initially given little opportunity to face lefties (despite mashing against them in the minors), then he was optioned to Triple-A and now he is seeing part-time duty in center field because Yoenis Cespedes' quad issues limit his mobility out there so he has been shifted to left field. Conforto is a natural corner outfielder, so he, like Cespedes, is out of his element in center field, which is why the Juan Lagares has been getting about half the starts in center since the Mets shifted their outfield deployment. Conforto would be appealing in all formats if he were allowed to play every day, but that won't happen anytime soon on this current Mets roster.
Jul 28 2016Juan Lagares' thumb injury could result in Conforto seeing consistent playing time in center field.Lagares likely will require surgery to repair the torn ligament in his thumb. To replace him on the active roster, Brandon Nimmo was allied up Thursday night. But he, like Conforto, is a lefty and not a true center fielder, as he is better served at a corner spot. With Yoenis Cespedes playing through a balky quad, limiting him to left field, the Mets have precious few options on center field. Conforto has been moved to that position but has been sitting against southpaws for Lagares. With Conforto, Nimmo and Curtis Granderson all lefties, Conforto might be the primary beneficiary of Lagares' absence, but there is a good chance manager Terry Collins turns to the recently hot Alejandro De Aza.
Jul 26 2016Conforto is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.Conforto went 0-for-3 in Game 1 but is still batting .357 (5-for-14) since his return from Triple-A Las Vegas. He appears fairly well locked in as the primary center fielder and No. 7 hitter against right-handed pitching, but Conforto figures to sit against all lefties moving forward. His struggles against southpaws this season are well documented (4-for-44).
Jul 24 2016Conforto is in the lineup and starting in center field for Sunday's game against the Marlins, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.Sunday's game will mark Conforto's first ever start in center field. Coming off an outing where he went 1-for-1 at the plate, Conforto will be facing the right-handed Jose Urena.
Jul 24 2016Conforto, who saw his first action in center field Saturday against the Marlins, gets his first start there Sunday, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports. The Mets had originally stated that Conforto wouldn't play center in Miami due to the vast expanse of that outfield. Following his brief indoctrination to the position Saturday, coupled with his pre-game work daily in the spot and need for offense in the lineup, Conforto starts there Sunday.
Jul 23 2016Conforto saw his first action in center field Saturday against the Marlins, the NY Daily News reports.Conforto didn't start the game in center field due to the expected low-scoring, pitchers' duel between Jacob deGrom-Jose Fernandez. But deGrom didn't have his good stuff and was pulled in the fourth inning. Conforto pinch-hit in the sixth and then came in the game in center field. Juan Lagares is the best defensive center fielder on the team, but he continues to struggle against righties, batting .230 with 11 strikeouts and six walks in 72 plate appearances. With the Mets desperate for offense and Yoenis Cespedes to only handle left field due to his quad injury, look for Conforto to man center field before too much longer.
Jul 19 2016Conforto is in the lineup in right field Tuesday against the Cubs, Maria Guardado of the Star-Ledger reports. The Mets will go with a bit of an odd alignment Tuesday, with Conforto making his first career start in right field. Curtis Granderson will shift over to center, where he'll start for the first time since August of last year. The move is only temporary, though, per manager Terry Collins, who clarified that center field is still Conforto's long-term position.
Jul 18 2016Conforto is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs, Adam Rubin of ESPN.com reports. While the power stroke has been around all season (10 home runs), Conforto has been unable to sustain a solid batting average which was part of the reason he was optioned to Triple-A to straighten some things out offensively. Conforto will now return to the major leagues and look to improve upon his .222 average as the starting left fielder.
Jul 17 2016Conforto will be recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas prior to Monday's series opener in Chicago, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.Conforto owns a 1.043 OPS since his original demotion, and has capped off a solid stretch with back-to-back multi-hit games, bringing his Triple-A batting average up to .344. Some of those numbers may be a bit inflated due to the hitter-friendly nature of the Las Vegas ballpark, but it is worth noting that seven of those 16 games in the minors have been on the road. In any case, he should be back to seeing semi-regular starts in left field for the Mets in short order. Manager Terry Collins could choose to limit his playing time by utilizing Juan Lagares in center and Yoenis Cespedes in right, but he may also elect to employ the outfield he's most comfortable with, as the Conforto/Cespedes/Granderson combination has started 38 games for the Mets in 2016.
Jun 25 2016Conforto was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday, Matt Ehalt of the Bergen Record reports.Brandon Nimmo will join the team in time for Saturday's game, replacing Conforto on the roster. Manager Terry Collins hinted earlier in the week that Conforto was on thin ice, and yet another 0-fer Friday was evidently the last straw. Conforto's strong month of April seems like a distant memory, as he has hit just .119/.182/.237 this month after batting .169 in May.
Jun 24 2016Conforto (knee) is in the lineup Friday against the Braves, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.A crash into the outfield wall Thursday left Conforto with a bruised left knee, but he was able to tough it out through the remainder of the contest and has been cleared to play Friday. The 23-year-old has been way overexposed to left-handed pitching this season and has been in a bad slump of late, but he still owns a .259/.337/.524 line against right-handed pitching.
Jun 23 2016Conforto bruised his left knee crashing into a wall during Thursday's game against the Braves, ESPN.com reports.Conforto was able to stay in Thursday's game despite the bruise, but the Mets will reevaluate him Friday to see if he has any lingering effects of the collision. Conforto went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Thursday's contest.
Jun 22 2016Conforto is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN.com.Conforto is just 4-for-43 (.093) against left-handers this season, so he will be held out of Wednesday's lineup with southpaw Danny Duffy on the mound for the Royals. Matt Reynolds will get the start in left field in Conforto's place.
Jun 19 2016Manager Terry Collins indicated a big shakeup could be forthcoming for the Mets, which could include demoting Conforto to the minors, ESPN New York reports.Conforto is mired in a major slump, as he is just 8-for-his-last 67 at the plate. Saturday, Matt Reynolds pinch-hit for him against a lefty while he was dropped to the seventh spot in the lineup Sunday. If Conforto is going to sit, he might benefit from some time at Triple-A after skipping that level last season when he jumped from Double-A Binghamton to the majors.
Jun 16 2016Conforto is back in the lineup, playing left field and batting fifth Thursday against Pittsburgh, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.Conforto is making his return to the lineup after receiving a cortisone shot Tuesday to treat strained cartilage in his left wrist. Anything can help the 23-year-old at this point as he's slashing .108/.146/.216 in June and has gone hitless in six of his last 10 starts.
Jun 16 2016Conforto returned from a brief absence due to a wrist injury Thursday and went 2-for-4 with a solo homer against the Pirates. The struggle's been real for Conforto lately, as he followed an electric April with a lethargic May that's lingered into this month, but perhaps nearly a week out of the starting lineup allowed him to straighten some things out. It's worth monitoring him for continued progress Friday, when the Mets face the Braves and struggling rookie righty John Gant.
Jun 14 2016Conforto (wrist) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's matchup with the Pirates.Conforto has been dealing with some wrist soreness, and he underwent an examination on Monday. There have been no updates released on his timetable for return, but it's likely that something will be released soon. The Mets will go with Alejandro De Aza to lead off and start in left field in Conforto's place.
Jun 14 2016Conforto received a cortisone shot in his left wrist Tuesday and he is optimistic about a return to the lineup by the end of the week, James Wagner of the New York Times reports.Conforto underwent the cortisone shot Tuesday to treat strained cartilage in his left wrist. With that, he'll be sidelined for presumably a few more days to allow the shot to take its effect on his wrist. The Mets will host the Braves for a series over the weekend, which seems like the most realistic time frame for Conforto to return. Alejandro De Aza figures to continue starting in left field while Conforto is sidelined.
Jun 12 2016Conforto will undergo an examination on his left wrist in New York on Monday, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.Conforto was held out of the lineup Sunday, and although he was used as a pinch-hitter, the outfielder struck out on just three pitches. Per Marc Carig of Newsday, he's been dealing with this tenderness since the series with Pittsburgh earlier in the week, but it doesn't necessarily bother him when he swings. In any case, the Mets are optimistic they can get some answers following Monday's examination.
Jun 12 2016Conforto is out of the lineup Sunday against the Brewers.Conforto has been in the midst of a deep slump, and Sunday will be the second instance in three games that manager Terry Collins has awarded Alejandro De Aza the start in left field. De Aza is only 3-for-18 with eight strikeouts since June 1, but Conforto has been even worse of late, owning a .529 OPS since May 1. The two left-handers will continue to battle for playing time for the foreseeable future. According to Newsday's Marc Carig, a "tender" wrist may also be partially responsible for Conforto's absence, though the team has yet to confirm this assertion.
Jun 12 2016Conforto, who is out of Sunday's lineup, is dealing with an apparent wrist issue, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.Conforto has been slumping heavily of late, but it appears that this can at least be partially explained by some wrist discomfort. With a team day off Monday, manager Terry Collins is resting several of his regulars, which includes giving Conforto is second game off in three days in favor of Alejandro De Aza. The team doesn't appear overly concerned about the injury, but in any case, check back on Conforto's status before putting together Tuesday's lineups.
Jun 11 2016Conforto is back in the lineup Saturday, batting second and starting in left field.Alejandro De Aza will head back to the bench Saturday as Conforto draws back into the lineup. Conforto has struggled mightily after his hot start, collecting just five hits in his last 40 at-bats. He'll look to heat back up Saturday when he faces Wily Peralta, a pitcher he's gone 2-for-3 with a home run against in his career.
Jun 10 2016Conforto is not in the lineup for Friday's Game-2 against the Brewers.Conforto is being replaced in left field by Alejandro De Aza who, Mets ' manager Terry Collins said recently, is "a good player." The 23-year-old could see decreased playing time with Collins indicating his backing of De Aza, especially considering Conforto is batting .109 over his last 13 games.
Jun 8 2016Conforto went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, a sacrifice fly and a walk against the Pirates on Wednesday.Since the May 20-22 series against Milwaukee in which Conforto collected four hits, including two homers, he'd gone dead silent with the bat, hitting just .103 (4-for-39, 16 strikeouts) without a long ball in 11 games while spending another four on the bench. That's far short of what we expect from Conforto, who impressed last season with his maturity, contact ability and power. In fact, he impressed this April as well before his stats went into the tank over the last month-plus. It seems likely that he'll turn things around, making this an intriguing buy-low moment for those interested in owning the 23-year-old outfielder.
Jun 1 2016Conforto went 0-for-6, including four strikeouts, Wednesday and is just 1-for-his-last-22 at the plate.Conforto's struggles stretch back to May 1 when he faced Madison Bumgarner and went 0-for-5 against the southpaw. From that date through June 1, he is just 14-for-89 at the plate, including 30 strikeouts. Conforto will snap out of this slump eventually, but for now, the prudent move might be to bench him until he shows signs of life at the plate.
May 30 2016Conforto is out of the lineup for a second straight day Monday against the White Sox.Conforto sat Sunday against Clayton Kershaw, but pinch-hit during the game and lined out hard to center. He is on the pine again against lefty Jose Quintana, despite Curtis Granderson being out due to a rest day and manager Terry Collins turning to another lefty batter in Alejandro De Aza.
May 29 2016Conforto is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.Even with the Mets down a few of their better hitters, manager Terry Collins will sit Conforto, who owns a .125 batting average against left-handed pitching this season. As is typical when the Mets face a challenging southpaw, Yoenis Cespedes will move over to left field, while Juan Lagares is called upon to man center.
May 27 2016Conforto is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers.Although the Dodgers' starter, Julio Urias, will be making his major league debut Friday, the fact that he's left-handed means that Conforto will take a seat. Yoenis Cespedes will slide over to left field while Juan Lagares takes over in center Friday. Conforto figures to rejoin the lineup for Saturday's game when the Mets take on Kenta Maeda.
May 24 2016Conforto is in the lineup and will bat third Tuesday against the Nationals, Mark Carig of Newsday reports.Conforto will replace Juan Lagares in the outfield Tuesday after not playing in Monday's matchup with the Nationals. The left-handed batter will face righty Stephen Strasburg. In his six at-bats against Strasburg, he has zero hits and has struck out three times.
May 23 2016Conforto will begin taking ground balls at first base, Adam Rubin of ESPN.com reports. With Lucas Duda expected to miss significant time with a back injury, the Mets will look to fill the void at first base anyway possible. If Conforto receives starts at first base, Alejandro De Aza could see increased playing time in the outfield while Duda is out.
May 23 2016Conforto is not in the starting lineup Monday against the Nationals, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports. With left-hander Gio Gonzalez taking the hill for Washington, Conforto will head to the bench for a day of rest. He'll likely re-enter the lineup Tuesday with right-hander Stephen Strasburg slated to pitch, but Juan Lagares will enter the starting lineup in his stead for Monday's contest.
May 20 2016Conforto was 2-for-4 with a two-run home run as the Mets downed the Brewers on Friday night. His sixth inning homer erased a 2-1 Milwaukee lead and proved to be the game winner. One of the more hyped young players on draft day this spring, he has posted solid numbers with seven home runs and 23 RBI to go with a very respectable .281 average.
May 18 2016Conforto hit a solo home run, his sixth, in a 1-for-3 game with a walk in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.Conforto has used a five-game hitting streak to improve his batting line to .283/.357/.528. He continues to be clearly the Mets' second-best hitter behind Yoenis Cespedes (.282/.364/.637). With 15 home runs in just 337 MLB plate appearances dating back to his rookie year last season, the 23-year-old Conforto has quickly proven his raw power is more than enough to play in a corner outfield spot.
May 18 2016Conforto is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. With lefty Gio Gonzalez taking the ball for Washington, manager Terry Collins decided it was a good day to give Conforto a day off. Despite the absence, the 23-year-old will likely rejoin the lineup in the coming days seeing as he's in the midst of a modest five-game hit streak. Yoenis Cespedes will slide over to left field to replace him while Juan Lagares takes over in center field.
May 12 2016Conforto is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Dodgers.Conforto has struggled mightily against left-handed pitching this season, batting just .167, so he'll take a seat with Clayton Kershaw taking the ball for Los Angeles. Yoenis Cespedes will slide over to left field while Juan Lagares takes over in center field for Thursday's game.
May 10 2016Conforto is back in the lineup Tuesday, batting sixth against the Dodgers. After getting the night off Monday, Conforto will be back in the lineup for the second game of the Mets' series out in Los Angeles. Interestingly, Conforto will be back in against lefty Alex Wood. He has struggled mightily against southpaws thus far this season, slashing .150/.190/.340 in 20 at-bats.
May 9 2016Conforto is out of the lineup Monday versus the Dodgers in Los Angeles, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.Receiving his second day off in a four-day span, Conforto will yield left field to Yoenis Cespedes. On a positive note, Conforto displayed signs of emerging from an 11 at-bat hitless streak over the weekend, tallying two hits, including a solo shot, against the Padres across nine at-bats Saturday and Sunday.
May 6 2016Conforto is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Padres, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. The 23-year-old has cooled off of late, going 1-for-19 to begin May after ending April on an eight-game hitting streak (five multi-hit games over that span). Yoenis Cespedes will slide over to left field Friday with lefty Drew Pomeranz due up for San Diego, affording Juan Lagares a start in center field.
May 1 2016Concerto's hot bat keeps him in the lineup Sunday against Madison Bumgarner and the Giants, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.Conforto was to sit against lefties, but his hot streak since moving to the three-hole keeps him in left field against an elite lefty in Bumgarner. Since moving to that spot 14 games ago, Conforto has hit .407 with 14 runs, nine doubles, four homers and 15 RBI.
Apr 29 2016Conforto was 2-for-5 with a pair of run scored and two RBI as the Mets trashed San Francisco on Friday night. He was tabbed to platoon in leftfield when the season started, but he has changed that plan. Hitting primarily in the three-hole he has torched opposing pitching for a .343 average, and the two driven in against the Giants on Friday give him 15 on the year. His fantasy owners are enjoying the ride to be sure.
Jun 30 2015Conforto, who was just 4-for-his-previous-26, went 3-for-5, including hitting his third home run for Double-A Binghamton on Tuesday. With the three hits, Conforto upped his average to .333 for the B-Mets. Michael Cuddyer's leg injury could land him on the disabled list and there is some speculation that Conforto could get the call to replace him. But with just 121 plate appearances at this level and no time at Triple-A, the Mets may view Conforto as too green for the promotion.
May 29 2015Conforto has been promoted to Double-A Binghamton, NJ.com reports.Drafted 10th overall in 2014, Conforto has thus far lived up to expectations, building on his fantastic 2014 debut at Low-A Brooklyn with a fast start for High-A St. Lucie this season. He leaves St. Lucie with a .283/.350/.462 slash line over 206 plate appearances, along with strong strikeout (12.6 percent) and walk (8.3 percent) rates. Conforto could reach Triple-A Las Vegas by the end of the season, which would put him on track to debut with the Mets at some point in 2016.
May 18 2015Conforto is hitting .280/.340/.469 with six home runs and 23 runs batted in at High-A St. Lucie. Conforto got off to a red-hot start, but has regressed a bit lately. Despite that, he is expected to move up to Double-A Binghamton before too long, possibly by the end of the month. If Conforto hits well at that level, he could see Triple-A Las Vegas before the season's end.
Sep 1 2014Conforto was promoted from Brooklyn of the New York-Penn League to Low-A Savannah on Monday.Savannah has made the playoffs while Brooklyn failed to earn a berth in the postseason. Conforto hit .331/.403/.448 with three home runs, 10 doubles and 19 RBI over 42 games for Brooklyn after being the 10th overall selection out of Oregon State this year.
Jun 5 2014The Mets have selected Conforto with the 10th overall pick in the 2014 first-year player draft.Conforto showed a steadily improving eye at the plate during his three seasons at Oregon State, drawing a career-high 51 walks in 56 games (194 at-bats) as a junior in 2014 after earning Pac 12 Freshman of the Year honors upon arrival in 2012 before winning the Conference Player of the Year Award in 2013. While the jury is still out regarding the quality of his defense in the outfield, Conforto offers plus left-handed power thanks to a big uppercut swing that generates good loft. Most likely, he'll develop into a left fielder with 20-25 home-run power as his defense does not project as anything more than average thanks in part to subpar speed, but as a more polished college bat, he could move through the minor leagues relatively quickly.
