Jun 15 2025Jackson picked up the save Sunday against the White Sox, allowing no hits or walks with one strikeout over a scoreless ninth inning. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson received his first save chance since May 21 as closer Robert Garcia got the day off after throwing in back-to-back games. Jackson cashed in for his ninth save of the campaign, marking his first perfect appearance in five outings. The 33-year-old owns a 3.91 ERA and an 18:11 K:BB over 23 innings in 2025.
May 21 2025Jackson (0-4) blew the save in Wednesday's 4-3 defeat to the Yankees, allowing one run on two hits in the ninth inning. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson gave up a walk-off home run to Jasson Dominguez, taking his second blown save of the season. The veteran right-hander has worked as Texas' primary closer to open the campaign, but his 5.52 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 13:8 K:BB over 14.2 innings likely loosens his grip on the gig and leaves the door open the door for the likes of Shawn Armstrong, Robert Garcia and Jacob Webb to see additional save chances in the future. Jackson missed some time with a swollen hand recently, and he's yielded six runs across his last 5.2 innings.
May 18 2025Jackson (hand) issued a walk and struck out a batter in a scoreless inning during Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Astros. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson battled a swollen hand throughout the week after being hit by a comebacker May 12 against the Rockies, but he returned to the mound Sunday in a non-save situation. The right-hander didn't appear to have any lingering issues as he threw 10 of 15 pitches for strikes, and his average fastball velocity of 93.6 mph was only marginally lower than his season average. Shawn Armstrong picked up a pair of saves in his absence, but Jackson should reclaim primary closing duties now that he's healthy.
May 13 2025Jackson's hand is still swollen Tuesday but he's optimistic he'll be able to avoid the injured list, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson reportedly has a decent amount of strength and is squeezing a stress ball after getting hit on the hand by a comebacker Monday. Jacob Webb got the save after Jackson exited, but Chris Martin or Robert Garcia could also be options to get saves while Jackson is unavailable.
May 12 2025Manager Bruce Bochy stated X-rays on Jackson's right arm came back negative, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Bochy noted that there was a decent amount of swelling shortly after Jackson was struck by a comebacker during his appearance Monday against the Rockies, and a trip to the injured list is still on the table. The club should have more information on the severity of the injury Tuesday.
Apr 16 2025Jackson earned a save against the Angels on Wednesday, retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth inning. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson made quick work of Los Angeles to protect a two-run lead in the ninth frame, as he needed just six pitches to get through the inning. The right-hander was rewarded with his sixth save of the campaign, though this was his first save (and first save opportunity) since April 5. Jackson is tied for third in MLB in saves on the season, and since giving up three runs in his season debut March 27, the right-hander hasn't surrendered any runs over his subsequent eight outings covering 7.2 frames.
Apr 5 2025Jackson allowed one hit across a scoreless ninth inning to record the save Saturday against the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson was called upon to maintain a two-run lead, and he did so comfortably. The only hit he allowed was an infield single with two outs, and he has now successfully converted five consecutive save chances. Jackson has also maintained a 5:2 K:BB across 5.1 frames on the season.
Apr 2 2025Jackson earned the save Wednesday in Cincinnati after allowing a hit and striking out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander has now notched a clean save in three straight appearances since he surrendered three runs over one-third of an inning Opening Day. It'll take a bit for Jackson's ERA and WHIP to level out, but he appears to have settled in as the favorite for saves in Texas. Veteran Chris Martin, who worked the eighth inning Wednesday, is also in the mix and has converted the Rangers' only other save this year.
Mar 31 2025Jackson allowed a hit and a walk during a scoreless inning against Boston on Sunday. He struck out one and earned a save. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson retired the first two batters he faced on just five pitches. He then coughed up a double to Jarren Duran and walked Rafael Devers before striking out Alex Bregman to close out the 3-2 victory. Jackson was roughed up in his first appearance, allowing three runs while recording only one out and taking a loss Thursday. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy showed confidence in Jackson by throwing him in save situations Friday and Sunday. Jackson converted both, leading to a 3-1 series win for Texas.
Mar 29 2025Jackson pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up the save in Friday's 4-1 victory over Boston. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Despite Jackson's awful Opening Day performance that resulted in him taking his first loss of the year, the Rangers entrusted him with the ninth inning again Friday. He responded with a very efficient showing, recording all three outs on just nine pitches -- seven of which were strikes. The 33-year-old's bounce-back outing should keep him at the top of the pecking order for saves, though Chris Martin and Robert Garcia remain on hand should he falter.
Mar 28 2025Jackson (0-1) took the loss Thursday against the Red Sox after surrendering three runs on two hits and a walk over one-third of an inning. He struck out one. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander entered for the top of the ninth inning with the game tied 2-2 and struck out Triston Casas to open the frame. Jackson then allowed a single and a walk before serving up a three-run homer to Wilyer Abreu. Jackson emerged as the apparent favorite for saves late in spring training, and though Thursday wasn't a save situation, his 2025 campaign is off to an inauspicious start. Chris Martin and Robert Garcia are also in the closer mix, and rookie Marc Church could also be involved in high-leverage spots.
Mar 25 2025Jackson struck out a pair in a perfect ninth inning to notch a save in Monday's exhibition game versus the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was Robert Garcia in the seventh inning and Chris Martin in the eighth inning before Rangers manager Bruce Bochy handed things off to Jackson, who closed out a three-run victory. After the contest, Bochy noted that how he lined up the bullpen is "pretty close" to how he plans to deploy them in the regular season, Michael Bier of Foul Territory TV reports. The skipper added that the roles are not yet completely defined, so there's still some murkiness with this situation. Martin and Garcia had been viewed as the top two candidates to close for the Rangers, but Jackson now appears to be firmly in the mix and perhaps the favorite for saves.
Feb 17 2025The Rangers signed Jackson to a one-year, $1.5 million contract Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's a homecoming of sorts for Jackson, who was drafted by the Rangers and reached the majors for the first time with them. The 33-year-old posted a 5.09 ERA over 52 regular-season appearances with San Francisco and Atlanta in 2024 but did strike out 59 over 53 innings. Jackson should fill a middle relief role.
Nov 4 2024Atlanta declined Jackson's $7 million club option for 2025 on Monday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson will be paid a $2 million buyout and is now a free agent. The 33-year-old collected a 5.09 ERA and 59:26 K:BB across 53 relief innings between San Francisco and Atlanta in 2024.
Jul 29 2024Jackson and outfielder Jorge Soler were traded to Atlanta on Monday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson will head back to Atlanta after spending 2017-2021 with the team, including winning a World Series title in his final year with the organization. The right-hander possesses an inflated 5.40 ERA and 1.43 WHIP while striking out 33 batters over 35 innings in 36 appearances with the Giants this season. Jackson will provide Atlanta with another experienced arm out of the bullpen.
Jun 28 2024Jackson (4-2) allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit in an inning of relief Thursday, taking an extra-inning loss versus the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Just one day after picking up a win in a relief appearance, Jackson was on the hook for the loss. He gave up a two-run home run to Ian Happ in the 10th inning, and the Giants were unable to respond. Aside from Wednesday's sharp outing, Jackson has been rough lately, allowing seven runs (six earned) over his last 3.2 inning. He has a 6.23 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 20:14 K:BB through 26 innings overall.
Jun 27 2024Jackson (4-1) walked one over 1.1 scoreless and hitless innings to earn the win over the Cubs on Wednesday. He did not record a strikeout. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Hayden Birdsong went 4.2 innings in his debut and left with the game tied at 3-3. Jackson got the Giants out of the top of the fifth inning there, and Luis Matos put them ahead for a good with a solo shot in their half of the frame. Jackson had allowed five runs over 1.1 innings prior to Wednesday, and he's given up multiple runs three times in 10 appearances in June. Overall, he's struggled to a 6.12 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 20:14 K:BB through 25 innings while adding two holds and three blown saves in a low-leverage role this year.
May 26 2024Jackson (3-1) earned the extra-inning win Saturday over the Mets, allowing one walk over a scoreless and hitless inning. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: All three of Jackson's wins have come over his last seven appearances despite the reliever giving up five runs across six innings in that span. It's been a case of him being in the right place at the right time, especially with the Giants' recent inclination to comeback wins. Jackson is at a 5.40 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 15:8 K:BB over 13.1 innings while adding two holds and three blown saves through 15 appearances this season.
May 23 2024Jackson (2-1) allowed a run on two hits and struck out two over one inning, earning the win Thursday over the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson allowed a solo home run to Bryan Reynolds in the seventh inning, but the Giants pulled ahead with a five-run eighth. Jackson has been scored on in four of his last five outings, allowing multiple baserunners each time he's given up at least a run. The homer was the first he's allowed all year. Jackson is at an uninspiring 5.84 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB with two holds and three blown saves over 12.1 innings this season.
May 12 2024Jackson (1-1) allowed a walk and struck out two without giving up a hit in a scoreless inning to earn the extra-inning win Sunday over the Reds. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson was tagged for three runs in his season debut and promptly went on the injured list with a back issue. He's been sharp since his return with 8.1 scoreless innings and a 7:3 K:BB in that span. Jackson has a couple of blown saves on his ledger and remains in a low-leverage role, though he pitched the 10th inning Sunday after Camilo Doval was called upon for a four-out appearance spanning the eighth and ninth frames.
Apr 22 2024The Giants reinstated Jackson (back) from the 15-day injured list Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson was placed on the 15-day IL after sustaining a lower-back strain in the Giants' season opener against the Padres. Jackson appeared in 33 games out of the bullpen last season, posting a 2.97 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 43:15 K:BB over 33.1 innings. The Giants optioned right-hander Nick Avila to Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.
Apr 5 2024Jackson (back) is currently throwing from 90 feet, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson will be reevaluated Friday to see if he's ready to begin throwing off a mound. The reliever suffered a lower-back strain on Opening Day and will be eligible to return next weekend, although it's not clear at this point whether he'll be ready at that time.
Mar 29 2024The Giants placed Jackson on the 15-day injured list Friday with a lower-back strain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson had to leave Thursday's game against San Diego after straining his back, and the injury is apparently severe enough to sideline him for a couple of weeks. Kai-Wei Teng was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to fill Jackson's spot in the bullpen.
Mar 28 2024Jackson suffered tightness in his lower back Thursday against San Diego and is being sent for an MRI, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson entered the game in the seventh inning and allowed two singles and a walk to the Padres before being removed due to the injury. He suffered from a similar issue in 2023, a concerning development given this was the first game of the new campaign.
Mar 5 2024Jackson has allowed one run on one hit and one walk while striking out four over two Cactus League innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson missed all of 2022 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He bounced back over the latter half of 2023, posting a 2.97 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 43:15 K:BB over 33.1 innings. Jackson's strikeout totals give him some real upside, but he doesn't have a clear path to consistent late-inning work with the Giants. The right-hander should mainly pitch in the middle innings, which could give him chances to vulture wins since the Giants have a lot of uncertainty in their rotation.
Sep 29 2023Jackson was activated from the paternity leave list Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson missed the Giants' series against the Padres but will be available this weekend versus the Dodgers. He's been terrific out of San Francisco's bullpen this season, posting a 2.97 ERA and 43:15 K:BB over 33.1 frames.
Sep 25 2023Jackson was placed on the paternity list prior to Monday's game against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson will be away from the team for the next few days for the birth of his child. Sean Hjelle was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.
Sep 11 2023Jackson (2-2) allowed an unearned run on a hit and two walks while striking out one over one inning, earning the win Monday over the Guardians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson was shaky in the 10th inning but limited the damage to an Andres Gimenez RBI single. The Giants rallied for two runs in their half of the frame to walk it off. Since the start of August, Jackson has allowed 10 runs (eight earned) over 17 innings with a 22:12 K:BB in that span. He's at a 3.14 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 37:15 K:BB with four holds and two blown saves through 28.2 innings. Jackson is one of few San Francisco relievers that's consistently worked later in games this year, as many have taken turns as openers or appeared early in bullpen games.
Sep 6 2023Jackson (1-2) took the loss Tuesday, surrendering four runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning as the Giants fell 11-8 to the Cubs. He struck out two. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: A three-run shot by Christopher Morel accounted for most of the damage against Jackson, who was the fifth of six San Francisco pitchers to take the mound in an ineffective bullpen day. The right-hander has served up three long balls in his last 11 innings, leading to a 4.91 ERA over that stretch, but his 17:5 K:BB should keep him in a mid-to-high-leverage role for the Giants despite his volatility.
Aug 7 2023Jackson (1-1) allowed two runs (one earned) on a hit and two walks while striking out one in two-thirds of an inning to take the loss and a blown save Sunday versus the Athletics. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson has taken two blown saves over five appearances since returning from a back injury, though the first of those was due to allowing an inherited runner to score. The right-hander has a still-solid 1.98 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 19:6 K:BB through 13.2 innings this season. He's in a low-leverage role, and his recent shakiness will likely keep him there for the rest of the season.
Jul 22 2023Jackson (back) was activated from the 15-day injured list Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Recovered from the lower-back strain that sent him to the injured list June 25, the 31-year-old right-hander will be available out of the Giants' bullpen Saturday in Washington. When healthy this season, Jackson has registered a sharp 2.16 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 10:2 K:BB in 8.1 major-league innings.
Jul 21 2023Jackson (back) is likely to be activated from the injured list this weekend, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson has joined up with the Giants in Washington following a two-appearance rehab stint in the Arizona Complex League, where he tallied five strikeouts across a pair of scoreless innings. He's been on the shelf since June 25 with a lower-back strain after also missing much of the first half of the season while completing his recovery from Tommy John surgery.
Jul 13 2023Jackson (back) will begin a rehab assignment with the Giants' Arizona Complex League affiliate Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson should need only one or two rehab appearances before rejoining the Giants' bullpen. He's been out since late June with a lower-back strain. Jackson holds a 2.16 ERA in 8.1 innings with the big club this season.
Jun 25 2023Jackson was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a lower-back strain. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson exited Saturday's game with the injury and won't be eligible to return until after the All-Star break, which runs July 10-13. It's a tough break for the right-hander, who has a 2.16 ERA in 8.1 innings since being activated from the 60-day IL in late May.
Jun 24 2023Jackson was pulled from his appearance Saturday due to lower back tightness, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The severity of Jackson's injury remains unknown, but now we know for sure that it's not related to the elbow he had Tommy John surgery on last season. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day until the Giants provide more details. The 31-year-old reliever holds a 2.16 ERA and 0.84 WHIP through 8.1 innings since returning from the injured list May 31.
Jun 14 2023Jackson (1-0) allowed a hit and struck out three in a scoreless inning to earn the win in Tuesday's 11-3 victory over the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Starter Alex Cobb went just four innings, with Jackson pitching the fifth before Keaton Winn converted a four-inning save. Jackson has done well so far, allowing one run, four hits and a walk with six strikeouts over 5.1 innings since returning from Tommy John surgery. The Giants' late-inning mix is pretty much set, but the right-hander could work his way into some opportunities for holds if he continues to pitch well.
May 30 2023San Francisco activated Jackson (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson is nearly 14 months removed from Tommy John surgery and will join the Giants' bullpen for Tuesday night's game against the visiting Pirates. He allowed four earned runs over 5.1 innings on a six-appearance minor-league rehab assignment and figures to be eased in as a lower-leverage option initially.
May 29 2023Jackson (elbow) could be activated from the 60-day injured list this week, Danny Emerman of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson holds a 6.75 ERA and 8:4 K:BB over 5.1 innings on his rehab assignment as he nears the end of his long road back from Tommy John surgery. The reliever has pitched three of the last five days and says he feels good, but he'd like to refine his control a bit so it sounds like he could make at least one more rehab appearance. Jackson hasn't appeared in the majors since 2021.
May 19 2023Jackson (elbow) will pitch again Saturday in a rehab appearance for Triple-A Sacramento. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson has made two relief appearances thus far in his rehab assignment while not allowing a run with two strikeouts over two innings. The right-hander is making steady progress after missing all of 2022 while recovering from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. The Giants will likely want to see Jackson work in back-to-back games before he returns, but he could be a late-inning option for the club before the month of May ends.
May 16 2023Jackson (elbow) moved his rehab assignment to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson threw a scoreless inning in his rehab debut Sunday at Single-A San Jose and should be ready to join the Giants' bullpen once he successfully logs back-to-back outings at Triple-A. The 31-year-old reliever is now more than 13 months removed from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery.
May 14 2023Jackson (elbow) is beginning a rehab assignment with Single-A San Jose on Sunday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson is first eligible to come off the 60-day injured list May 29, and the right-hander may be ready to go by that point if he endures no setbacks during his rehab assignment. He's working his way back from the Tommy John surgery he underwent last February and will presumably require several outings in the minors to build up his velocity and hone his command. Once activated, Jackson could emerge as a late-inning option out of the San Francisco bullpen.
Apr 1 2023Jackson (elbow) was moved to the 60-day injured list Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson is still working his way back from Tommy John surgery, and the move confirms he won't be ready to go for at least two months. His former spot on the 40-man roster will go to Bryce Johnson, whose contract was selected in a corresponding move.
Mar 30 2023The Giants placed Jackson (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson is just under a year removed from getting Tommy John surgery, and though he has since resumed throwing bullpen sessions and could soon be ready to face hitters, he's most likely at least a month away from heading out on what will presumably be a prolonged rehab assignment. Whenever the Giants determine Jackson is ready to return from the IL, he'll likely be ticketed for a middle-innings role, at least early on.
Feb 23 2023Jackson (elbow) threw his third bullpen session of the spring Wednesday, Evan Webeck of the San Jose Mercury News reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson is almost 11 months removed from Tommy John surgery and seems to be trending well in his recovery. As long as there are no setbacks along the way, the 31-year-old right-hander should be an option for the Giants' bullpen around late May or early June. He inked a two-year, $11.5 million deal with San Francisco in January.
Jan 9 2023Jackson (elbow) signed a two-year, $11.5 million contract with the Giants on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, Jackson will take home $9.5 million between the first two years of his contract, which also includes a $7 million club option or $2 million buyout for the 2025 season. After undergoing Tommy John surgery this past April, Jackson will be a candidate to open the upcoming season on the 60-day injured list, but he should be at close to full health by around the All-Star break, if not sooner. The 31-year-old handled a pivotal role out of the bullpen for Atlanta's World Series-winning club in 2021, turning in a 1.98 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 70:29 K:BB across 63.2 frames while notching a career-high 31 holds.
Oct 12 2022Jackson (elbow) revealed Wednesday via his personal Twitter account that he resumed throwing for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery April 13. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson will likely be limited to playing catch while gradually extending his throwing distance off flat ground, but he could be ready to resume mound work at some point later this winter. He'll still face restrictions at the start of spring training, but he could avoid a stint on the 60-day injured list to begin the 2023 campaign if his team confident he's far enough along in his recovery to return at some point in the first two months of the season. Jackson will first look to secure a contract with Atlanta or another squad, as he's set to become an unrestricted free agent this winter.
May 19 2022Jackson (elbow) will receive a $3.6 million contract for 2022 after losing his arbitration case with Atlanta on Thursday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson suffered a torn UCL late in spring training and underwent Tommy John surgery in mid-April. The right-hander will miss the entire 2022 season and should also be unavailable early in 2023.
Apr 13 2022Atlanta announced Wednesday that Jackson underwent Tommy John surgery Wednesday in Arlington, Texas. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Tommy John surgery always appeared to be the likely outcome for Jackson after an MRI earlier this month revealed that he was dealing with UCL damage in his right elbow. Now that the procedure has been completed, Jackson will be sidelined for the entire 2022 season, and his recovery will likely extend into the early portion of the 2023 campaign as well.
Apr 3 2022Jackson (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list Sunday with a torn UCL. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Atlanta reported Saturday that an MRI showed damage to Jackson's UCL, but the extent of that damage was previously unclear. The right-hander may require Tommy John surgery, which would likely sideline him until the summer of 2023.
Apr 2 2022Jackson (forearm) recently underwent an MRI that revealed damage to his UCL. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson dealt with forearm tightness this week and was initially labeled as day-to-day, but it appears as though he'll be forced to miss significant time. UCL damage can often lead to Tommy John surgery, and the right-hander is undergoing a comprehensive evaluation process to determine his recovery process. It's possible that he'll be unavailable for most or all of the 2022 campaign following his diagnosis.
Mar 31 2022Jackson (forearm) completed a 10-pitch bullpen session Thursday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The side session marks a step forward for Jackson after he missed a week of workouts at the start of camp due to forearm tightness, but manager Brian Snitker is still characterizing the right-hander as "day-to-day" as Opening Day nears. Atlanta hasn't yet ruled Jackson out from avoiding a trip to the injured list to begin the season, but he'll presumably need to advance to facing hitters within the next few days to have a shot at breaking camp as a member of the big club's bullpen.
Mar 28 2022Jackson is day-to-day with forearm tightness, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Forearm tightness can sometimes be the first sign of a very serious injury, though the fact that Jackson is merely considered day-to-day may suggest that this isn't one of those cases. While he's resumed throwing, the issue has so far prevented him from pitching in a Grapefruit League game, so it's possible he'll be forced to open the season on the injured list even if his forearm tightness proves to be relatively minor.
Sep 19 2021Atlanta activated Jackson from the paternity list Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson rejoins Atlanta's bullpen after going on paternity leave Thursday. The righty has impressed with a 1.50 ERA and 18:5 K:BB in his last 12 innings and could potentially pitch in some save situations if closer Will Smith continues to struggle.
Sep 16 2021Atlanta placed Jackson on the paternity list Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The team will replace Jackson in the bullpen with Chris Martin (elbow), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Jackson will be away from Atlanta for 1-to-3 days to spend time with his newborn child, and he should rejoin the team at some point during its 10-game West Coast road trip that kicks off Friday.
Sep 7 2021Jackson (2-2) struck out three in 1.1 perfect innings to earn the win Tuesday versus Washington. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander was able to limit the damage after Tyler Matzek allowed Washington to tie the game at 5-5 in the seventh inning. Jackson then became the pitcher of record as Atlanta retook the lead on an Ozzie Albies home run. Through 14.2 innings since the start of August, Jackson has given up two runs on nine hits and six walks while striking out 21. He's been excellent with a 2.05 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 59:25 K:BB through 52.2 innings overall while adding 24 holds as a setup man to closer Will Smith.
Jul 23 2021Jackson gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless seventh inning during Thursday's win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander has rebounded in strong fashion from an awful 2020 season. Through 41 appearances and 35 innings this year, Jackson has posted a 2.06 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 36:16 K:BB with a win and 12 holds. He's not likely to work his way back into the closer mix, but the 29-year-old has become a reliable setup man in front of Will Smith.
Jun 14 2021Jackson gave up a hit and struck out one without allowing an earned run in two-thirds of an inning Sunday, recording his sixth hold of the season in a win over the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He did allow two inherited runners to score after entering the game with two on and one out in the seventh inning, but they went on A.J. Minter's ledger. Jackson extended his scoreless streak to 12 appearances and 10.1 innings with the effort, and on the year he boasts a 1.11 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 22:11 K:BB over 24.1 frames.
May 13 2021Jackson (1-1) took the loss Wednesday, allowing one run on one hit while striking out one in the seventh inning as Atlanta fell 4-1 to the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Entering the game with the score tied 1-1, Jackson's first pitch was launched over the center-field fence by Teoscar Hernandez. The right-hander has a strong 1.93 ERA through 14 innings to begin the season, but his 12:8 K:BB indicates he's been more lucky than good.
Apr 24 2021Jackson gave up a run on two hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning Friday but still recorded his second hold of the season in a win over the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Entering the game to protect a 4-2 lead in the seventh inning, Jackson put the first two runners aboard but would have escaped without any damage if the Atlanta defense had been able to turn a double play on an Eduardo Escobar grounder to Freddie Freeman. Instead it went as a fielder's choice, and Jackson got the hook after a Josh Rojas double. The run was the first the right-hander has given up this season, and he sports a 1.29 ERA, but less appealing 6:7 K:BB, through seven innings.
Mar 29 2021Jackson appears set to begin the season in the Atlanta bullpen, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander has 18 saves and nine holds in 2019, but he was out of the high-leverage mix last year and likely won't regain a prominent spot in 2021. Jackson posted a solid 3.52 ERA and 7:3 K:BB over 7.2 innings this spring and should work primarily in middle relief.
Dec 2 2020Jackson signed a one-year, $1.9 million deal to avoid arbitration with the Braves on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander recorded 18 saves and nine holds with a 3.84 ERA during 2019, but he struggled last season with a 6.84 ERA. Jackson wasn't included on Atlanta's playoff roster, but the team is apparently willing to give him a chance to rebound in 2021.
Sep 30 2020The Braves excluded Jackson from their roster for their wild-card series with the Reds that began Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson was on the Braves' active roster throughout the regular season, but his poor finish to the campaign likely cost him a spot in the team's bullpen for the playoffs. Over his last five outings, Jackson gave up 13 runs on 18 hits and five walks over 10.1 innings.
Sep 24 2020Jackson (2-0) allowed two runs on three hits while striking out five across four innings Wednesday as he earned the win over the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson had to enter the game to begin the second inning after Max Fried (ankle) was forced out of the game as a precautionary measure after tweaking his ankle while fielding a bunted ball in the first. The 29-year-old had a clean outing aside from his effort in the fourth when he allowed two runs to score. Jackson's dependability has taken a tumble in 2020 as the right-hander has a 5.33 ERA and a 20:12 K:BB in 25.1 innings this season.
Jul 25 2020Jackson (1-0) pitched two innings, allowing an unearned run on four hits to earn the win in Saturday's extra-inning contest versus the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jackson entered a tied game in the ninth inning, and managed to keep it that way. He then loaded the bases with a pair of singles and the initial runner to start the 10th inning, but only one Jeff McNeil scored on a Dominic Smith sacrifice fly. Jackson had 18 saves and nine holds with a 3.84 ERA and 106 strikeouts across 72.2 innings last year, but he's a set-up man at best in 2020.
Mar 24 2020Jackson posted a 0.00 ERA and 10:3 K:BB through five Grapefruit League innings before spring training was suspended. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Generating empty swings has never been Jackson's problem -- he struck out a career-high 106 batters in 72.2 relief innings last year. The 28-year-old opened 2019 as Atlanta's closer and delivered significant fantasy value with 18 saves, nine wins and nine holds, but he'll head into this season fourth at best in the pecking order for saves behind Mark Melancon, Will Smith and Shane Greene, putting a major damper on Jackson's upside.
Jan 10 2020Jackson agreed to a one-year, $1.825 million deal with the Braves on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This is his first of three years as an arbitration-eligible player. At one point last year Jackson was cruising as the Braves' closer, but he will be hard-pressed to regain that job anytime soon after the additions of Will Smith and Mark Melancon.
Sep 25 2019Jackson (9-2) earned the win Wednesday after holding the Royals scoreless with four strikeouts across 1.1 innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The right-hander punched out all four batters faced through the fifth and sixth innings as the Braves took the lead for good. Through 69 appearances this season, Jackson owns a 3.88 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with 18 saves.
Aug 11 2019Jackson allowed three hits through a scoreless ninth inning to record his 18th save in a 5-4 win over the Marlins.
Aug 1 2019Jackson will transition to a setup role following the acquisition of Shane Greene, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.

Jun 17 2018Jackson signed a major-league contract with the Braves on Sunday.Jackson was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett just two days earlier after being designated for assignment June 13, but he'll be back in the Atlanta bullpen in time for the series finale. The right-hander will take the place of long man Luiz Gohara, who has struggled of late and was optioned to Gwinnett in a corresponding move.
Jun 15 2018The Braves outrighted Jackson to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday. As was the case the first three times the Braves have designated Jackson for assignment over the past year, Jackson once again passed through waivers unclaimed by the other 29 clubs and will remain in the Atlanta organization. The right-hander has made four appearances out of the big-league bullpen this season, giving up three runs and striking out nine over 5.1 innings.
Jun 6 2018Jackson allowed one run on one hit and two walks over three innings Tuesday while striking out five to record his first career save in a 14-1 rout of the Padres. The score was "only" 8-0 when Jackson entered the game, so this was about as low leverage a situation as a pitcher can handle, but the 26-year-old still got the job done. He's got a 5.67 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 50:33 K:BB in 73 career big-league innings, however, and he'll likely return to Triple-A Gwinnett once the Braves need a fresh arm in their bullpen.
Jun 5 2018Jackson had his contract purchased from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.Jackson will take the roster spot of Julio Teheran (thumb), who was placed on the 10-day disabled list in a corresponding roster move. The 26-year-old allowed two runs in a pair of relief appearances (1.1 innings) for the Braves earlier in the season, so he'll likely be limited to low-leverage work during his time with the big club.
May 6 2018Jackson was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.Jackson will return to the majors for the first time since a stint in early-April, and will once again to provide the Braves with right-handed bullpen depth. In five appearances for Gwinnett this season, Jackson owns a 3.86 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. He'll replace Lucas Sims, who was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
Apr 18 2018Jackson was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, MLB.com reports.Jackson went unclaimed off waivers after the Braves designated him for assignment earlier in the week, so he'll remain a part of the organization as a long reliever at Gwinnett. The right-hander made just two appearances with the Braves this season before being dropped from the 40-man roster.
Apr 4 2018Jackson's contract was selected by the Braves on Wednesday. The Braves are summoning a fresh arm for the bullpen and designating Chris Stewart for assignment in order to clear a 40-man roster spot. Jackson can be electric at times, but his below-average command will limit him to low-leverage situations for now. He has a career 5.64 ERA in 68.2 MLB innings.
Mar 14 2018The Braves reassigned Jackson to their minor-league camp Tuesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.Jackson, who was in camp as a non-roster invitee, turned in a 4.62 ERA and 5.9 K/9 over 50.2 innings out of the Atlanta bullpen in 2017. The right-hander did little this spring to convince the Braves he was worth adding back to the 40-man roster, surrendering five runs in 3.1 innings during Grapefruit League action before being reassigned. Look for him to work as long reliever or spot starter for Triple-A Gwinnett for most of the upcoming campaign.
Feb 11 2018Jackson has been invited to Atlanta's spring training. After being designated for assignment in December, Jackson will attend spring training as a non-roster invitee. The 26-year-old right hander accrued an ERA of 5.50 across 50.2 innings for the Braves in 2017, and has struggled in the big leagues throughout his career -- he owns a career ERA of 5.64. Unless Jackson has a stellar spring training, he's likely a long shot to make the major league team for Opening Day.
Jan 4 2018Jackson was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.Jackson was designated for assignment by the Braves on Dec. 20, and passed through waivers unclaimed to remain with the organization. During the 2017 season, Jackson accumulated a 4.62 ERA and 33:19 K:BB in 50.2 innings.
Sep 1 2017Jackson (shoulder) was activated from the 10-day DL on Friday.Jackson will return to the bullpen after a two-week stay on the disabled list due to a shoulder strain. The 26-year-old will slide back into the bullpen, where he's posted a 4.65 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 40.2 innings this season.
Aug 29 2017Jackson (shoulder) will report Wednesday to Triple-A Gwinnett to begin a rehab assignment, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.Jackson has been sidelined for just over the minimum 10 days with the shoulder strain, so he may only need one tune-up appearance in the minors before the Braves likely activate him Sept. 1 when rosters expand. The right-hander, who carries a 4.65 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 40.2 innings with the big club this season, will likely work in middle relief once he rejoins the Braves.
Aug 25 2017Jackson (shoulder) is expected to come off the disabled list Sept. 1, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.By waiting to activate Jackson until Sept. 1, the Braves will be able to avoid having to make a corresponding roster move. The 25-year-old righty has struggled to shut down batters this season, as he's logged a disappointing 28:15 K:BB over 40.2 innings this season.
Aug 19 2017Jackson was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right shoulder strain.Jackson struggled over his previous two outings -- allowing six runs on six hits and three walks over two innings -- and this could help explain why. The severity of the injury isn't known at this point, but he'll be eligible to return Aug. 29 should he be ready. In the meantime, Matt Wisler was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding roster move to take his place on the roster and in the bullpen.
Jul 15 2017Jackson has 18 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.62 through 27.1 innings in 2017.After playing a handful of games with the Texas Rangers the last two seasons, Jackson has gathered more playing time in his first season with Atlanta. The good news for the reliever is that he's only given up runs in four out of 24 outings. The bad news, however, is that he gave up 11 runs in those games despite only pitching a total of six innings. Add in his low strikeout rate of 15.9 percent and you get a reliever who appears to be high risk and low reward.
Jun 22 2017Jackson walked one and struck out one while recording the final two outs of the 11th inning Wednesday and was made a winner when Matt Kemp launched a walkoff homer in the bottom half of the frame. It's his second big-league win, and the 25-year-old continues to give the Braves serviceable innings in a low-leverage role. Jackson's 3.93 ERA doesn't reflect how consistent he's been since his promotion in mid-April, as five of the eight earned runs he's allowed came in one bad outing against the Mets. His 5.9 K/9 will need to improve if he's going to climb the ladder in Atlanta's bullpen hierarchy, however.
Jun 8 2017Jackson has a 0.93 ERA and 0.93 WHIP since being recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett in mid-May.It's still a small sample size for the 25-year-old, but he has issued only two walks in 9.2 innings since his recall. Jackson could earn a larger role if he maintains his numbers but is currently limited to low-leverage situations for the Braves.
May 20 2017Jackson was recalled by the Braves on Saturday. With Eric O'Flaherty landing on the disabled list, the Braves replenished their bullpen depth by bringing up Jackson. The 25-year-old Jackson has made just three appearances with the big league club this season, all of them coming in mid-April. He notched a 6.35 ERA with a 1.71 WHIP at Triple-A Gwinnett across seven appearances. Jackson figures to assume a low leverage middle relief role while he's up with the Braves.
Apr 14 2017Jackson was recalled by the Braves on Friday. With reliever Chaz Roe joining a growing list of Braves on the DL, Jackson gets his chance to shine in the big leagues. The right-hander posted a solid 2.45 ERA for Triple-A Round Rock while in the Rangers' system last season, but has yet to validate his skills on a major league level. He'll likely be used in low-leverage situations as he auditions for a more permanent role in the Atlanta bullpen.
Mar 20 2017Jackson was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.Jackson was auditioning for one of the last available spots in the Braves bullpen, but after he was outperformed by Blaine Boyer and Chaz Roe in recent spring games, Atlanta decided to send him back to the minors for further seasoning. If Jackson shows he can harness better control of his pitches at Triple-A, he may be one of the top options for a call-up should a need arise in the bullpen.
Dec 8 2016The Rangers traded Jackson to the Braves on Thursday in exchange for Tyrell Jenkins and Brady Feigl, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.Jackson, the 45th overall pick in 2010, transitioned to a full-time relief role in 2016. He was able to post a 3.69 ERA between Double-A and Triple-A despite issuing 32 free passes in just 46.1 innings, which speaks to his stuff -- he can dial up his fastball in the upper 90s with consistency. However, Jackson wasn't able to overpower major league hitters the same way, giving up 22 hits (including four homers) in 11.2 innings with Texas. He will try to earn a spot in the Atlanta bullpen in spring training.
Jun 22 2016Jackson was recalled by the Rangers on Wednesday. With Derek Holland landing on the disabled list Wednesday, the Rangers opted to recall Jackson to take his spot on the active roster. Jackson had his struggles during his stint with the big league club earlier in the season, recording a 7.04 ERA over 7.2 innings of work. He'll likely work out of the pen, but the Rangers will have to make a roster move in the coming days when they need a starter to take Holland's spot in the rotation, so this could be a short stint for Jackson.
Jun 9 2016Jackson was optioned back to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.Catcher Robinson Chirinos was activated from the disabled list Thursday, so Jackson will head to Triple-A to free up a spot on the 25-man roster. The right-hander has made five appearances for the Rangers on the season, allowing 11 hits and six earned runs over 7.2 innings. He's fared better at Round Rock, where he holds a 3.68 ERA and 1.36 WHIP.
May 16 2016Jackson was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Monday, Jeff Wilson of Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.Jackson received the promotion as Tom Wilhelmsen, who had given up three earned runs in each of his last two outings for the Rangers, was optioned. Jackson has been effective with Triple-A Round Rock so far in 2016 as he's only given up six earned runs over 14.2 innings as well as racking up 19 strikeouts during that time. He'll look to transition that type of production out of the bullpen for the Rangers as the 2016 season progresses.
Jul 10 2015Jackson has been converted to a reliever at Triple-A Round Rock and has a 2.66 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 32 strikeouts in 23.2 innings out of the bullpen. It just wasn't working out for him as a starter, as he posted a 5.64 ERA in five starts at the outset of the season. This may actually end up making him somewhat interesting in fantasy, as he was losing his luster as a starting pitching prospect. His 32:13 K:BB ratio in 23.2 innings shows the kind of bat-missing stuff he brings to the table as a reliever, indicating that he could someday be used in high-leverage situations at the big league level.
Mar 17 2015Jackson was optioned to Triple-A on Tuesday, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Jeff Wilson reports. This should come as no surprise, as Jackson still has some things to work on in the minor leagues. After excelling at Double-A last year, he posted a 10.35 ERA in 40 innings at Triple-A, and Jackson will look to master that level before joining the Rangers' rotation at some point this summer.
Nov 21 2014Jackson was added to the Rangers' 40-man roster on Thursday.Jackson worked his way up to Triple-A Round Rock in 2014 for the first time in his career, but struggled mightily as he posted a 10.35 ERA and 2.10 WHIP in 40 innings. Given his success at lower levels, Jackson could make it to the big leagues at some point in 2015 but he'll likely have to prove himself at Triple-A first.
