Apr 8 2025The White Sox re-signed Drury (thumb) to a minor-league contract Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury was released by the White Sox late in spring training after suffering a fractured left thumb but is now back in the organization. He's been assigned to extended spring training for now as he continues to rehab but should eventually move up to Triple-A Charlotte. Drury has a good shot to eventually be added to the major-league roster if he gets off to a good start.
Mar 23 2025The White Sox released Drury (thumb) on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury was having a strong spring, compiling a .410/.439/.821 slash line with three home runs and 11 RBI, but he was diagnosed with a fractured left thumb Saturday and was set to miss significant time. He was in camp on a minor-league contract, and rather than having him open the campaign on the injured list, Chicago has opted to part ways with the veteran infielder. Drury will likely now look to latch on with a new organization, though he may not be able to play in games until at least mid-May.
Mar 22 2025Drury was diagnosed with a fractured left thumb Saturday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Losing Drury is a tough blow for the White Sox, as the 32-year-old was slashing .410/.439/.821 with three home runs and 11 RBI in spring training and was likely to break camp with the big-league squad. Instead, he'll spend the first portion of the regular season on the injured list. No timeline for his return has been provided.
Mar 21 2025Drury was scratched from Friday's Cactus League lineup due to a bruised left hand, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's unclear when Drury suffered the injury, but he'll be held out for at least one spring game. The 32-year-old signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox during the offseason and is expected to be included on the Opening Day roster given his 1.260 OPS during spring training.
Mar 12 2025Drury has a chance to earn a roster spot with the White Sox to begin the regular season, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury had a poor 2024 season, but he had previously posted consecutive campaigns with at least an .800 OPS. He has hit well this spring by collecting nine hits across 30 at-bats, including one home run and five doubles. Drury is likely to be a bench bat even if he makes the roster, though he's an option to keep an eye on with so many unproven options in the White Sox's lineup.
Feb 7 2025The White Sox signed Drury to a minor-league contract Friday that includes an invitation to spring training. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury had a dreadful 2024 campaign, putting up a .469 OPS across 97 contests with the Angels. The 32-year-old slashed .262/.313/.495 with 54 home runs from 2022 to 2023, so some level of a bounce-back showing in 2025 seems doable. Drury should have a decent chance of making the Opening Day roster with the White Sox.
Sep 25 2024Drury is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury finds himself on the bench for the fourth time in five games, with all four absences coming against right-handed starting pitchers. Jack Lopez has seemingly supplanted Drury as the Halos' top option at second base.
Sep 21 2024Drury is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury is absent from the starting nine for a second straight game, yielding to Jack Lopez at second base. Drury had started two consecutive games after missing five straight contests with a hamstring injury. It's unclear if his back-to-back absences are related to the hamstring injury.
Sep 20 2024Drury is not in the lineup for Friday's contest in Houston, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury started the last two games after returning from a five-game absence due to a hamstring injury, but he'll be given some rest Friday. Jack Lopez is occupying second base for the Angels.
Sep 18 2024Drury (hamstring) will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game versus the White Sox, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury is back in action for the first time in a week after he had been battling a sore left hamstring. Injuries have limited him to just 88 games this season, and he's managed a dreadful .478 OPS during that time.
Sep 17 2024Drury (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday versus the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will remain on the bench for a fifth consecutive contest as he continues to nurse a left hamstring issue. Charles Leblanc will draw another start at second base and bat seventh against Chicago.
Sep 16 2024Drury (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Monday's contest versus the White Sox, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's the fourth straight start he's missed due to lingering left hamstring tightness. Charles Leblanc will play second base for the Angels while Drury continues to rest up.
Sep 15 2024Drury (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's the third consecutive absence for Drury due to hamstring tightness, which first surfaced during Wednesday's matchup with the Twins. Jack Lopez is starting at the keystone and batting ninth in the series finale versus Houston.
Sep 14 2024Drury (hamstring) isn't in the Angels' lineup Saturday against the Astros, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will miss a second consecutive start Saturday after exiting Wednesday's contest with a sore left hamstring. With Michael Stefanic (calf) also nursing an injury, Jack Lopez will pick up a start at second base and bat ninth.
Sep 13 2024Drury (hamstring) isn't in the Angels' lineup for Friday's game against the Astros, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Hamstring tightness forced Drury to make an early exit from Wednesday's contest, and it seems he'll need another day to recover following Thursday's off day. In his place, Michael Stefanic will start at the keystone and bat ninth.
Sep 11 2024Drury was removed from Wednesday's game against the Twins due to left hamstring tightness. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's not immediately clear when Drury suffered the injury, but his hamstring was apparently bothering him enough to warrant his removal in the fifth inning. The Angels' scheduled off day Thursday will give him an extra day to rest, but Michael Stefanic could be in line for a start at second base if Drury's absence extends into Friday.
Sep 9 2024Drury went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk Monday in a 6-2 win against the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury's third-inning solo shot to left field traveled an estimated 459 feet. It was his first extra-base hit of September, though he's been swinging the bat decently well this month, hitting .276 over 29 at-bats through eight contests. That's a vast improvement over the .157 mark he posted through the end of August.
Aug 30 2024Drury went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Friday's 9-5 loss to the Mariners. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury has homered twice over his last four contests after a 62-game power drought. He's still not hitting particularly well, going 3-for-26 (.115) over his last eight games. For the season, the infielder is at a .159/.243/.218 slash line with three homers, 13 RBI, 25 runs scored and six doubles over 284 plate appearances. Most of his lost playing time has been due to injuries, but the Angels could reduce his workload over the final month if they want to get a look at an infield prospect or evaluate other members of their current major-league roster.
Aug 29 2024Drury is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will get a breather for the day game after a night game, opening up the keystone for Michael Stefanic in the series finale in Detroit. After another hitless effort in Wednesday's 3-2 loss, Drury is now slashing an abysmal .153/.239/.202 over 280 plate appearances. Given Drury's season-long struggles along with the fact that he's scheduled to become a free agent this offseason, the Angels could look to push him into more of a part-time role in September.
Aug 25 2024Drury went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 8-2 loss to the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury ended a power drought dating back to April with his eighth-inning homer, though it had little impact on the result. He missed time with a hamstring injury and an illness, but he hit just .144 and slugged a pitiful .170 over 62 games from April 15 to Aug. 24. While he's maintained regular playing time when healthy, Drury is in the midst of his worst season since 2020, slashing .157/.242/.207 with two homers, 11 RBI, 24 runs scored, six doubles and no stolen bases over 273 plate appearances this year.
Aug 22 2024Drury is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Toronto. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's the second day in a row that Drury's name has been absent from the Angels' lineup card after he had started each of the previous four tilts. Michael Stefanic will occupy second base in this one.
Aug 21 2024Drury isn't in the Angels' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After going 3-for-18 with two runs scored over his last five games, Drury will get a breather Wednesday while Jack Lopez starts at the keystone and bats ninth.
Aug 16 2024Drury is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta, per MLB.com. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will sit for a second straight game Friday. He's struggled from the plate since the All-Star break, slashing .127/.260/.143 with four RBI across 73 plate appearances. Michael Stefanic will start at second base and bat ninth against Atlanta right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach.
Aug 14 2024Drury isn't in the Angels' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury has gone 4-for-18 with two RBI and two runs scored over his last six games and will take a seat for Wednesday's matchup against Jose Berrios. Michael Stefanic will take over at the keystone and bat ninth.
Aug 7 2024Drury isn't in the Angels' lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts and a walk during a loss in Game 1, and he'll now take a seat to begin the nightcap. Michael Stefanic will draw the start at the keystone and bat ninth.
Aug 4 2024Drury is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will take a seat for the second time in three games while he's managed just one hit in 25 at-bats over his last seven contests. The Angels haven't pulled the plug on Drury as an everyday player just yet, but his hold on a regular spot in the infield seems to be slipping.
Aug 2 2024Drury isn't in the Angels' lineup Friday versus the Mets, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After going 1-for-19 over his last five games, Drury will receive a day off Friday while Luis Guillorme fills in at the keystone and bats ninth.
Jul 25 2024Drury isn't in the Angels' lineup for Thursday's game versus Oakland, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will get a day off Thursday after going 2-for-4 with an RBI during Wednesday's win over Seattle. While he sits, Luis Rengifo will shift to second base while Anthony Rendon starts at the hot corner and Willie Calhoun acts as the DH.
Jul 20 2024Drury is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Athletics, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will get a day off after he went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Friday's 13-3 loss. Anthony Rendon will take over at third base while Willie Calhoun enters the lineup at designated hitter and bats fourth against Oakland.
Jul 9 2024Drury is batting fifth and making his first start at third base since 2022 in Tuesday's game versus the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With Luis Rengifo (wrist) on the 10-day injured list and Keston Hiura starting at second base, Drury is making his return to third. In the 2022 season, Drury made 67 starts at third base and 27 at second, but his subsequent 119 starts have all come at the keystone.
Jul 6 2024Drury isn't in the Angels' lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury has gone 2-for-14 with three walks and three runs scored since returning from his illness, and he'll catch a breather Saturday while Keston Hiura starts at second base and bats second.
Jul 2 2024Drury went 1-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Athletics. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury missed nine straight games due to an illness before appearing off the bench Sunday versus the Tigers. This was his first start since June 21, and he played the full game at second base. The infielder has struggled this year, slashing .175/.246/.237 with one home run, six RBI, 12 runs scored and no stolen bases over 126 plate appearances. Drury will likely occupy a starting role at the keystone going forward, though Luis Guillorme is also in the mix there.
Jul 1 2024Drury (illness) went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in a loss to Detroit on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury sat out nine straight games due to an illness before returning to action Sunday. He didn't start but entered as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning and remained in the contest for another at-bat as the team's DH. Per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com, Drury is expected to return to the starting lineup Tuesday against the Athletics.
Jun 30 2024Drury (illness) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury hasn't seen the field since June 21 due to an upper-respiratory illness, and he won't return to the lineup for Sunday's series finale versus Detroit. According to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com, Drury is avialable off the bench Sunday and should return to the starting nine Tuesday in Oakland. Luis Rengifo will again man the keystone while Miguel Sano starts at third base.
Jun 29 2024Drury (illness) isn't part of the starting lineup Saturday against Detroit. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will be held out of the starting lineup for a ninth consecutive contest and it's unclear how close he is to returning. Luis Rengifo will bat second and play second base.
Jun 28 2024Drury (illness) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Detroit, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury hasn't played since June 18 due to an upper-respiratory illness and will be on the bench again Friday. Luis Guillorme will play second and bat ninth. Drury is considered day-to-day but a timeline for his return has yet to be offered.
Jun 27 2024Drury (illness) isn't in the Angels' lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will be missing his seventh consecutive game as he continues to fight off an upper-respiratory virus. There hasn't been any sort of indication from the Angels that they will place him on the injured list, so the 31-year-old should still be considered day-to-day. Luis Rengifo will start at second base Thursday with Miguel Sano at third.
Jun 26 2024Drury (illness) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury hasn't played in more than a week due to an upper-respiratory virus. The Angels have resisted placing him on the 10-day injured list thus far, and the team hasn't provided an indication that it has changed its stance, so consider Drury day-to-day. Luis Rengifo will cover second base Wednesday in Drury's stead.
Jun 25 2024Drury (illness) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury was scratched from the lineup Friday against the Dodgers due to the illness, and his absence will extend to four games Tuesday. The 31-year-old was reportedly available to pinch hit Monday but wasn't utilized off the bench. Drury should continue to be considered day-to-day while Luis Guillorme receives a start at second base.
Jun 24 2024Drury (illness) went through a workout before Monday's game against the Athletics and will be available off the bench, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury has been held out of the lineup since Saturday due to an upper respiratory virus, but he's close to returning to the starting lineup. Michael Stefanic draws the start at second base Monday with Drury available off the bench.
Jun 22 2024Drury (illness) is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury had been scratched from the starting lineup on back-to-back nights, but he won't be listed as a starter for Saturday's series finale due to illness. He'll have a team day off Sunday to recover before Monday's matchup with Oakland. Luis Guillorme will play second base and bat ninth Saturday.
Jun 21 2024Drury was scratched from the Angels' lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Dodgers due to an illness, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After being scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to an illness, Drury was set to return to action Friday following the team's off day Thursday. The illness appears to have lingered around, however, and Drury will sit out for at least one more game. Michael Stefanic will start at second base and bat eighth against Dodgers right-hander Landon Knack, per Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register.
Jun 19 2024Drury was scratched from the Angels' lineup ahead of Wednesday's game versus Milwaukee due to an illness, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury has gone 1-for-6 with a walk since returning from the injured list Monday, but he'll be sidelined once again Wednesday as he fights off an illness. Luis Guillorme will instead start at the keystone and bat ninth versus right-hander Freddy Peralta.
Jun 17 2024The Angels activated Drury (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury wound up being sidelined for nearly six weeks of action with a left hamstring strain but is ready to roll after playing six rehab games. Most of Drury's starts with the Angels will probably come at second base, but first base, third base and designated hitter are options, as well.
Jun 15 2024Drury (hamstring) played second base in a rehab game with Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This was Drury's fourth rehab game, but he had served as the designated hitter in each of the previous three contests. The veteran infielder is working his way back from a left hamstring injury that has kept him from competing for the Angels since May 8. Drury has gone 5-for-13 with three walks and an RBI in his rehab stint thus far and appears very close to rejoining the big-league club.
Jun 11 2024Drury (hamstring) is beginning his rehab assignment in Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury went down with a hamstring injury May 8 and has not played in a game since then. The second baseman has not faced any setbacks with his recovery to this point, but it remains unclear how many rehab games Drury will appear in.
Jun 8 2024Drury (hamstring) has responded well to recent baseball activities and is likely to head out on a rehab assignment during the week of June 10, per MLB.com. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury hasn't played since injuring his left hamstring May 8, but he recently progressed to running and participating in full baseball activities, including taking groundballs and hitting on the field. The veteran infielder hasn't had any setbacks while taking part in that work and thus appears just about ready to head out on a rehab stint. It's unclear how many minor-league games Drury will play in, but it appears he could be back with the Angels by the end of next week.
Jun 3 2024Drury (hamstring) will hit on the field and take grounders Monday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will probably need to run the bases before being cleared for a rehab assignment. It's not clear when that might occur, but he's progressing steadily. The veteran infielder has been sidelined since early May with a left hamstring strain.
May 29 2024Drury (hamstring) said Wednesday that he is aiming to return from the injured list June 11, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury has been making steady progress since landing on the injured list May 9 due to a left hamstring injury. He got back to hitting in batting cages last week and recently began baseball activities and a running progression. The 31-year-old infielder will likely embark on a minor-league rehab assignment before being activated, though the Angels have not said when that might begin.
May 20 2024Drury (hamstring) will hit in the batting cage Monday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury is ready to begin reincorporating baseball activities as he works his way back from a left hamstring strain. Running will certainly be a bigger test than hitting, though, and it's not clear when he might be ready to do that.
May 9 2024Drury (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury exited Wednesday's game after dealing with tightness in his hamstring, an issue he first dealt with in mid-April. He'll be sidelined for at least the next 10 days, leaving Luis Guillorme as the Angels' projected starting second baseman in the short term.
May 8 2024Drury was removed from Wednesday's game against the Pirates after six innings due to left hamstring tightness. He went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run and one RBI prior to departing. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury previously contended with the same injury back in mid-April. He missed a few games with the hamstring injury at the time, and he may not have fully healed up from the injury. Manager Ron Washington should have more information about Drury's condition following the completion of Wednesday's contest.
May 6 2024Drury will start at second base and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Pirates, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury was initially slated to receive the day off, but he'll end up handling his usual role as the starting second baseman after Luis Rengifo (illness) was scratched. The 31-year-old Drury heads into Monday's contest in a 2-for-31 funk at the plate over his last 10 games.
May 4 2024Drury (migraine) is starting at second base and batting fifth Saturday against Cleveland, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: A migraine has kept Drury out of the Angels' last two games, but the issue appears to have subsided ahead of Saturday's contest. The 31-year-old has been in a slump at the plate recently, going just 2-for-23 across his last seven games.
May 3 2024Drury (migraine) isn't part of Friday's lineup against the Guardians. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury was scratched from Wednesday's contest due to a migraine, and while it hasn't been confirmed that it's the injury holding him out of Friday's game, it can be assumed that that's the case. Luis Rengifo will make another start at second with Ehire Adrianza over at third.
May 1 2024The Angels scratched Drury from the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies due to migraine. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury had been in line to bat cleanup and start at second base before the migraine surfaced shortly before first pitch. Luis Rengifo will slide over from third base and start at the keystone in Drury's stead, while Ehire Adrianza was added to the lineup to start at third base.
Apr 26 2024Drury (hamstring) is starting as the designated hitter and batting fifth in Friday's game against the Twins, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After returning to action for all three games against the Reds last weekend, Drury missed the past three contests against the Orioles due to a lingering left hamstring injury. The three-game absence, along with the Angels' off day Thursday, seems to have done the trick for Drury, as he'll start at DH for the series opener Friday versus Minnesota. The 31-year-old is slashing .194/.270/.269 with two doubles, six runs, one home run and four RBI over 74 plate appearances to begin the season.
Apr 24 2024Angels manager Ron Washington said Wednesday that Drury is still feeling soreness from the left hamstring injury he sustained last week, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Orioles for a third straight game, although Washington said the 31-year-old is available to pinch hit. The Angels are off Thursday, so Drury could be ready to return to the lineup Friday versus the Twins. Luis Rengifo will likely continue to play second base until Drury is ready to play the field again.
Apr 23 2024Drury is not in the lineup versus the Orioles on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury took a seat in Monday's game versus the Orioles after returning to the lineup Friday. The second baseman was dealing with a hamstring injury prior to playing in all three contests of the weekend against the Reds. This marks the second consecutive game he will not start, with Luis Rengifo starting at second and batting eighth Tuesday.
Apr 22 2024Drury is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury returned from a three-day absence with a hamstring injury to play all three contests of the weekend series versus the Reds, but he'll get a break Monday. Ehire Adrianza will be at second base Monday.
Apr 19 2024Drury (hamstring) will be the designated hitter and bat fifth for Friday's game in Cincinnati. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury missed three games with tightness in his left hamstring, but he's ready to at least hit Friday against one of his former teams. The 31-year-old has gotten off to a slow start at the plate for the Angels this season, putting up a .570 OPS with one home run in 16 contests.
Apr 17 2024Drury won't start and will only be available to pinch hit Wednesday and Thursday against the Rays due to left hamstring tightness, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury may still be used as supplementary help with batting, but he will miss his third straight start come Thursday. Though his ability to still pinch hit if necessary is encouraging, the Angels are being cautious with the 31-year-old's hamstring issue, and it is still unknown if he will return to the field Friday against the Reds.
Apr 16 2024Drury (hamstring) said he will be available off the bench Tuesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury is not in the lineup after having to exit Monday's game with a hamstring issue. However, he tested out the hamstring with a pregame workout and contends that he's fine to play, if needed. Luis Rengifo is at second base Tuesday and Miguel Sano is at first.
Apr 14 2024Drury went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury notched his first home run of 2024, tagging starter Brayan Bello for a solo shot in the second inning. Sunday's contest also marked Drury's second multi-hit game of the season. The second baseman has logged a hit in five of his last six games but still owns a poor .196 batting average through 14 outings.
Apr 6 2024Drury isn't in the Angels' lineup for Saturday's contest against the Red Sox, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will get a breather Saturday after slashing .160/.250/.160 through his first seven games. Luis Rengifo (head) will return to cover second base while batting seventh.
Mar 17 2024Drury (illness) went 1-for-1 with a walk in Saturday's Cactus League contest versus the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Prior to Saturday, Drury hadn't played in a game since Monday due to an illness. His ability to return to the lineup against Chicago suggests that he's past the issue and won't have any problem being ready for Opening Day. Drury is expected to serve as the Angels' everyday second basemen during the coming campaign.
Mar 4 2024Drury is slashing .125/.263/.125 with an RBI and a 2:7 BB:K through 18 Cactus League plate appearances. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Both of Drury's hits so far have been singles, and he's struck out in over one-third of his plate appearances. The slow start shouldn't be a major concern, however, given his veteran status and recent regular-season consistency. Drury is coming off back-to-back solid campaigns in which he hit a combined 54 homers and drove in a combined 170 runs. He's slated for an everyday role in the Angels' infield again this season and should be among the team's primary sources of power.
Oct 2 2023Drury went 3-for-4 with two homers, three RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Athletics. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury opened things up with a first-inning home run and added on with a two-run shot to right center in the fifth. He finishes the 2023 campaign slashing .262/.306/.497 with 26 homers, 83 RBI, 61 runs and a 25:136 BB:K in 523 plate appearances. His home run and RBI totals trailed only Shohei Ohtani for the team lead despite Drury missing seven weeks due to injury. The 30-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Halos before the season, although it's possible the team ships him off to a contender with rumors swirling that a rebuild might be in the works.

For the season, he's at a .260/.304/.486 slash line with 24 long balls, 80 RBI, 57 runs scored, 28 doubles and three triples over 121 contests. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury put the Angels ahead 5-3 in the 10th inning, though Julio Rodriguez answered a half-inning later. It's been a spotty start to September for Drury, who has gone 8-for-45 (.178) over 11 contests this month, though six of those hits have gone for extra bases. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury has gone 14-for-49 (.286) over his last 12 contests while mainly playing at second base. He came up a home run shy of the cycle Wednesday, though a double play groundout in the third inning prevented him from a chance to go for the long ball. The 31-year-old infielder is at a .268/.309/.493 slash line with 20 homers, 67 RBI, 50 runs scored, 24 doubles and three triples through 104 contests this year as one of the bright spots in the Angels' lineup.

The long ball was the 19th of the campaign for Drury, the second-highest total of his career behind last season's 28. Aug 19 2023Drury went 4-for-8 with two home runs, a walk, three total runs and four total RBI in Saturday's doubleheader split versus the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury knocked a big solo homer in Game 1 that provided what proved to be the decisive run, then belted a late three-run shot in a landslide loss in Game 2. The pair of long balls came on the heels of a poor start to August during which the infielder had slashed .192/.192/.308 with just one home run over 13 games. Drury is now up to 17 long balls on the season, three away from the second 20-homer campaign of his nine-year career.
Aug 8 2023Drury went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two additional runs scored in Tuesday's 7-5 victory over the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After starting 3-for-16 (.187) without scoring in his first four games since being activated off the 10-day IL, Drury collected a trio of hits and crossed the plate three times Tuesday. He also connected on his first long ball since returning for his 15th home run in 80 games. On the year, Drury is slashing .277/.320/.502 with 47 RBI and 39 runs scored.
Aug 4 2023Drury (shoulder) went 1-for-4 in Friday's 9-7 loss to the Mariners. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury played the full game at second base after missing over a month with a shoulder injury. It was unclear what kind of playing time he would see upon his return, but with Zach Neto (back) going on the injured list, Drury has a chance to take over second base with Luis Rengifo moving to shortstop. Drury has had a productive season, slashing .276/.322/.497 with 14 home runs, 45 RBI, 36 runs scored, 17 doubles and two triples over 76 contests.
Aug 3 2023Angels manager Phil Nevin said Thursday that Drury (shoulder) will play at least two more minor-league rehab games, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury had been aiming to return to the Angels' active roster ahead of Thursday night's series opener against the Mariners, but he still has a bit more work to do with his timing at the plate. On the shelf since late June due to left shoulder inflammation, the 30-year-old infielder has gone 1-for-8 with four strikeouts so far at Triple-A Salt Lake.
Jul 29 2023Drury (shoulder) said Saturday that he will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake this week and hopes to return Thursday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury has been on the injured list since July 2 with inflammation in his left shoulder and appears to finally be nearing the end of his rehab process. The 30-year-old infielder is slashing .277/.322/.500 with 14 homers and 45 RBI on the season and figures to resume everyday duties once he returns from his assignment.
Jul 27 2023Drury (shoulder) fielded grounders and threw from third base Thursday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Worth remembering is that Drury's injury is to his left (non-throwing) shoulder, but he's still making nice progress as he continues to ramp up his rehab. He could continue with his workouts this week before potentially rejoining the Angels sometime next week.
Jul 25 2023Drury (shoulder) hit off a high-velocity pitching machine Tuesday and is slated to face live pitching on the field Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Those are expected to be the last boxes Drury needs to check, although he could repeat them for a few days before being activated. Drury has been sidelined for most of July with left shoulder inflammation but would appear on pace to return to the Angels' lineup soon.
Jul 21 2023Drury (shoulder) is going through a full workout Friday, Luca Evans of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury said he's unsure on an exact timetable for his return to the Angels' active roster, but he would seem to be getting pretty close to heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment. The 30-year-old infielder has been on the injured list since July 2 due to left shoulder inflammation.
Jul 15 2023Drury (shoulder) will hit off a tee Saturday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's the first time he's done any hitting since he landed on the injured list at the beginning of July with left shoulder inflammation. Drury is hopeful he can return to the Angels' lineup in a few days but acknowledged he'll probably have to play through some discomfort.
Jul 8 2023Drury's (shoulder) MRI returned clean Saturday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury had testing done Friday as there was concern that he was dealing with something more serious than just a bruise. However, the MRI revealed only inflammation. Drury is hoping to start hitting and fielding ground balls in the coming days, with the goal of returning shortly after the All-Star break.
Jul 7 2023Drury was sent for more testing Friday due to ongoing shoulder discomfort, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury's injury was initially labeled as a left shoulder contusion when he was placed on the 10-day IL earlier this week, but it might be something more serious. The results of the new tests should be available over the weekend.
Jul 2 2023Drury was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a left shoulder contusion. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury was on the bench Sunday for the third straight game with the shoulder bruise, so the Angels opted to move him to the IL. The 30-year-old won't be eligible to return until after the All-Star break July 14 against Houston, so he'll afforded a few extra days to recover without missing more games. Andrew Velazquez was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake to provide infield depth.
Jul 1 2023Drury (shoulder) isn't in the Angels' lineup Saturday against Arizona, Sarah Valenzuela of the Los Angeles Times reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury injured his shoulder on a dive during Thursday's loss to the White Sox, and he'll now miss his second consecutive start as a result. Drury's absence opens a spot at second base for Luis Rengifo to start and bat eighth.
Jun 30 2023Drury was held out of Friday's game against Arizona due to a "tweaked" shoulder, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury reportedly hurt his shoulder on a dive during Thursday's loss to the White Sox, though the issue is considered minor. The infielder enjoyed a strong June, slashing .337/.377/.531 with five homers, 18 RBI and 12 runs over 24 games, and he's typically filled an important lineup slot immediately behind either Shohei Ohtani or Mike Trout, though that could change now that Anthony Rendon is back from the injured list. Drury is considered day-to-day and could be back in the lineup this weekend.
Jun 28 2023Drury went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's 11-5 loss to the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Each of Drury's three hits drove in a run Wednesday, including his seventh-inning solo shot. The infielder has been locked in at the plate in June, batting .344 (32-for-93) over 23 games this month. His extended run of production has him up to a .278/.325/.505 slash line with 14 homers, 45 RBI, 35 runs scored, 17 doubles and two triples over 74 contests. He's 0-for-2 on stolen-base attempts this year. Drury appears to have taken over the starting role at second base for the Angels after their recent infield reshuffling following trades for Eduardo Escobar and Mike Moustakas last week.
Jun 24 2023Drury went 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 25-1 win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury hit the second of three consecutive homers for the Angels in the third inning and added three more RBI by the end of the fourth. The infielder has seven multi-hit efforts in his last 11 games, batting .354 (17-for-48) over that span. He's maintained a strong .273/.318/.500 slash line with 13 homers, 41 RBI, 34 runs scored, 17 doubles and two triples over 70 contests this season. The Angels acquired Mike Moustakas from the Rockies after the game, a signal that Drury may have competition for playing time at first base, though he could also shift over to second full-time in favor of the slumping Luis Rengifo, who had been playing third base recently prior to Friday's trade for Eduardo Escobar.
Jun 17 2023Drury went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and solo home run in Saturday's 10-9 loss to the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Coming into the contest, Drury hadn't hit a home run since June 1, but he notched his second multi-homer game of the season Saturday. The slugger struggled to start the year, slashing just .179/.208/.269 over his first 20 appearances, but he's been red hot since then, totaling 11 home runs, 14 doubles, two triples, 31 RBI and 24 runs scored over his last 44 games.
Jun 15 2023Drury (suspension) isn't in the Angels' lineup Thursday against Texas, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury received a one-game suspension after making contact with an umpire during Monday's game, and he will pay the price Thursday. While Drury sits, Luis Rengifo will fill in as the Angels' second baseman and bat ninth.
Jun 13 2023Drury was suspended one game by Major League Baseball for making contact with an umpire during Monday's game versus the Rangers, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury is appealing the suspension and is in the lineup Tuesday, playing first base and batting third. The 30-year-old has put up a .771 OPS with 10 home runs and 30 RBI over 61 contests for the Angels this season.
Jun 2 2023Drury went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a double in Thursday's loss to Houston. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The blast came in the fifth inning and gave the Angels a 2-1 lead at the time, though Houston responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame. Drury has begun to heat up at the plate again, collecting five multi-hit performances over his past nine contests. Over that span, he's slashing .333/.421/.758 with three homers, five RBI and seven runs.
Jun 1 2023Drury (arm) has returned to the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Astros. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury sat out Wednesday after taking a pitch off the arm during Tuesday's loss to the White Sox. He's ready to roll now and will serve as the second baseman, batting cleanup against Ronel Blanco.
May 31 2023Angels manager Phil Nevin said Drury is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's series finale with the White Sox while he tends to some swelling on his arm, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury picked up the injury in his ninth-inning plate appearance during the Angels' 7-3 loss Tuesday, when he was hit by a Kendall Graveman pitch. He stayed in the game and underwent precautionary X-rays after the game, which returned negative. Nevin seemed to suggest that Drury is getting more of a rest day Wednesday, as the Angels want to ensure that the veteran infielder is available for all four games of the team's series in Houston that begins Thursday. Livan Soto will get the starting nod at second base Wednesday while Drury gets a day off to recover from the minor arm injury.
May 30 2023Drury went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk in Monday's 6-4 win over the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury helped the Angels get off to a fast start, drilling a three-run shot in the first inning. The long ball was his ninth of the campaign, two of which have come over his past four games. Drury also drew a free pass for his third straight contest, exceeding the amount of walks he had taken in his previous 23 games combined.
May 21 2023Drury is not in the starting lineup Sunday versus the Twins, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will get a breather after he went 2-for-7 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored over the first two games of the series. Luis Rengifo will take over at second base and bat seventh in the series finale with Minnesota.
May 15 2023Drury is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will take a seat for the first time since May 4 after starting each of the Angels' last nine games at either first or second base. Luis Rengifo will step in at the keystone Monday while Matt Thaiss gets the nod at first base.
May 6 2023Drury went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and a walk in Saturday's 10-1 loss to the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury's ninth-inning blast was the only run for the Angels, though the game was close throughout before the Rangers' eruption in the top of the ninth. He was the only Angel to record an extra-base hit, and he's now gone 5-for-15 (.333) with two homers over his last four games. For the season, he's slashing .248/.288/.514 with seven long balls, 19 RBI, 15 runs scored, six doubles and a triple through 31 contests.
May 4 2023Drury is not in the Angels' lineup for Thursday's game in St. Louis, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's likely a routine day off for Drury, who has gone 2-for-16 with a solo homer and eight strikeouts in the past four games. Jake Lamb will start at first base and Luis Rengifo will cover second.
May 3 2023Drury went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning with his 382-foot shot to left. The infielder continues to showcase his decent power-hitting skills, as he's coming off of a 28-home run season with the Reds and Padres. The 30-year-old is now slashing .235/.273/.480 on the year.
Apr 27 2023Drury went 2-for-2 with a three-run home run and two walks in an 8-7 win against Oakland on Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury had the biggest hit in a five-run third inning for the Angels, belting a 409-foot homer that plated three runs. The veteran infielder reached base four times in the contest and finished with his fourth straight multi-hit performance. The Oakland pitching staff may have nightmares about Drury in the days to come, as he tormented them in the four-game series, going 9-for-15 with four homers and 12 RBI.
Apr 2 2023Drury will start at first base and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Athletics, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After taking a seat in Saturday's 13-1 win while a right-hander (Shintaro Fujinami) was on the hill, the righty-hitting Drury will re-enter the lineup against a lefty (Ken Waldichuk). The Angels haven't formally outlined their plans for Drury, but he looks as though he could end up filling the short side of a platoon at first base with the lefty-hitting Jake Lamb while Jared Walsh (head) is on the injured list.
Mar 18 2023Drury, who fouled a ball off his calf Friday, is not in Saturday's lineup against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He was expected to be in Saturday's lineup, so his absence suggests the team is either being extra careful and/or Drury's calf was hurting more than anticipated. It seems like a day-to-day situation until further notice.
Mar 17 2023Angels manager Phil Nevin said Drury left Friday's game with a tightened calf but will return to the lineup Saturday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury fouled a ball off his calf, and it tightened up on him in the third inning. It sounds like Drury has avoided a significant injury.
Dec 20 2022Drury agreed to a two-year, $17 million contract with the Angels on Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 30-year-old split the 2022 campaign between Cincinnati and San Diego, and he earned the inaugural Silver Slugger for a utility player with a .263/.320/.492 slash line, 28 home runs and 87 RBI in 138 games. Luis Rengifo enjoyed a mini breakout with a .723 OPS in 2022, but Drury could now be the favorite to start at second base. Drury should see action at both infield corners, especially given third baseman Anthony Rendon playing fewer than 60 games in each of the past two seasons.
Oct 19 2022Drury went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and three RBI during Wednesday's Game 2 of the NLCS in the 8-5 win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury had been just 1-for-15 in the postseason and 4-for-31 dating back to the beginning of October, so Game 2's outburst was a pleasant surprise for the Padres. The 30-year-old veteran has played for six teams in eight seasons but has minimal playoff experience with just 6 plate appearances prior to the 2022 postseason. Look to see if Drury can follow up Game 2's offensive explosion as the NLCS progresses.
Oct 9 2022Drury is out of the lineup for Sunday's Game 3 matchup with the Mets in the wild-card round. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will sit for the second time in the wild-card series, with Wil Myers replacing him once again at first base. Myers closed the regular season by going 8-for-22 with four extra-base hits over his final eight games, and that appears to have given him the edge on playing time over Drury thus far in the postseason.
Oct 7 2022Drury is out of the lineup for Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Mets on Friday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury went 2-for-13 with two walks and a run over his final four games of the regular season, and he's not in the lineup for San Diego's postseason opener. Wil Myers will man first base and bat sixth versus New York righty Max Scherzer.
Sep 25 2022Drury went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, two RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's win over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Padres scored 13 runs on the day, and Drury got in on the action in a big way with five combined runs and RBI, including a solo home run. The long ball, a 452-foot moonshot in the eighth inning was his 28th on the season and third in 10 games since returning from the injured list. In that 10-game stretch, Drury is hitting .243 (9-for-37) with six runs scored and six RBI.
Sep 21 2022Drury isn't starting Wednesday against the Cardinals, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury returned from the injured list Thursday and started the last five games. He went 5-for-18 with two home runs, two doubles, four RBI, a walk and three strikeouts but will head to the bench while Wil Myers starts at first base and bats seventh.
Sep 16 2022Drury went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in Friday's 12-3 win over the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury did his damage early, opening the scoring with a two-run blast in the first inning. He added a solo shot in the fourth for his first multi-homer game of the season. He's now 4-for-8 with three extra-base hits in two games since returning from the 7-day concussion injured list. The 30-year-old is up to a .266/.322/.511 slash line with 27 long balls, 82 RBI, 79 runs scored and two stolen bases through 121 contests between the Padres and the Reds this year.
Sep 15 2022Drury (concussion) was reinstated from the 7-day injured list and will bat sixth as the designated hitter Thursday against the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury has been unavailable nearly two weeks due to the concussion he suffered Sept. 2 versus the Dodgers, but he's back in the lineup for the Padres for Thursday's series opener. The 30-year-old went 5-for-14 with two home runs, a double and five RBI in the five games preceding the absence.
Sep 11 2022Drury (concussion) is expected to be sidelined until at least Thursday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Bob Melvin recently expressed optimism that Drury would be able to return as early as Tuesday against the Mariners, but he'll likely remain out for at least a few more days as he continues to recover from a concussion. The 30-year-old has been on the injured list since Sept. 5, and it's not yet clear whether he'll have a brief rehab assignment prior to rejoining the Padres.
Sep 9 2022Manager Bob Melvin said Drury (concussion) is feeling much better and the Padres are hoping he can return Tuesday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Melvin said it is unlikely that Drury returns for the weekend series against the Dodgers, but the feeling is he could return ahead of their upcoming series in Seattle. Drury was slashing .278/.316/.667 over his last five games before suffering his concussion.
Sep 5 2022Drury was placed on the 7-day concussion injured list Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury exited Friday's game with a head injury and we now have confirmation that he suffered a concussion. He will miss the full series against Arizona to start the week and will be eligible to return this weekend against the Dodgers.
Sep 4 2022Drury (head) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will take a seat for the second game in a row while he recovers from a head contusion, which stems from being hit by a pitch in Friday's 7-1 win. His absence from the lineup opens up a spot at first base for Wil Myers.
Sep 3 2022Drury (head) will sit Saturday against the Dodgers, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury left Friday's game after getting hit in the head with a pitch, and he'll sit for at least one game. Whether or not he'll need an extended absence is not yet clear. Josh Bell will start at first base, with Jurickson Profar serving as the designated hitter.
Aug 30 2022Drury went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Monday's 6-5 win against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury put the Padres up by three with his first-inning two-run homer, and he added what ended up being the decisive RBI with a single in the fifth. The long ball was his first in 14 games after he opened his San Diego tenure with three homers in first nine contests. Drury is slashing .211/.250/.378 with four homers and 18 RBI over 24 games as a Padre.
Aug 16 2022Drury is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury went 1-for-14 (.071) with six strikeouts over his last three games, so manager Bob Melvin decided to hold him out for the first time since he was acquired by the Padres at the trade deadline. Wil Myers will enter the lineup in Drury's place.
Aug 13 2022Drury went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double and three total runs in Friday's 10-5 win against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury's eighth-inning, two-run homer was his second long ball in as many games and accounted for the Padres' final runs in the contest. Since coming over from Cincinnati in a trade-deadline deal, the versatile veteran has gone deep three times in nine games, adding 12 RBI and scoring seven runs. He's come out of nowhere this season to slug 23 homers, seven more than his previous career high set in 2016 with Arizona.
Aug 10 2022Drury went 2-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored Wednesday against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury took Yunior Marte deep for a three-run homer in the sixth inning to record his 22nd long ball of the season. He has hit only .185 across 25 at-bats and eight games since joining the Padres, though he's also tallied two homers, 10 RBI and four runs scored in that span. For the season Drury has a .268/.329/.515 line across 416 plate appearances.
Aug 4 2022Drury went 1-for-3 with a grand slam and a hit-by-pitch in a 9-1 win against Colorado on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The buzz around the stadium heading into the contest was for Juan Soto's team debut, but Drury made a strong impression of his own by swatting a grand slam in the first inning. The long ball was his career-best 21st of the season -- the same amount as Soto has hit thus far. Drury's breakout campaign also includes a .275/.337/.527 slash line, 63 RBI and two stolen bases.
Aug 2 2022The Padres acquired Drury from the Reds on Tuesday in exchange for shortstop Victor Acosta, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: On the books for just $900,000 this season, Drury proved to be a major value pickup from the scrap heap for the Reds. In addition to being able to play all over the infield as well as either corner-outfield spot, Drury is in the midst of a career season at the dish, as he's slashed .274/.335/.520 with 20 home runs, 62 runs, 59 RBI and two stolen bases in 385 plate appearances. Unfortunately for Drury's fantasy managers, the move from the Reds to a star-studded Padres lineup means that he may have to settle for a utility role rather than the everyday spot in the heart of the order that he enjoyed during his time in Cincinnati. He should play regularly against left-handed pitching and could be the next man up to step into an everyday role if the Padres lose a lineup regular to an injury.
Aug 1 2022Drury went 1-for-1 with a solo home run in a 3-2 win over the Orioles on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury's 20th home run of the season couldn't have come at a better time for the Reds. Drury was called in to pinch hit with the game locked at 2-2 in the eighth inning, He blasted an offering from Felix Bautista over the left field fence to score the game-winning run. Drury has now hit 20 home runs for the first time in his nine-season career.
Jul 31 2022Drury is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 29-year-old started the past 22 games and had an .827 OPS during that stretch. Drury will become a free agent during the offseason and is a popular trade target ahead of Tuesday's deadline. Donovan Solano will man third base Sunday for Cincinnati.
Jul 9 2022Drury went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI in Saturday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury came up with a big hit in the eighth inning, knocking a single to left field that plated two runs and tied the score. The hit was his fourth of the contest, marking his first four-hit performance of the season. Drury shows no signs of slowing down in what his been a breakout campaign -- he's slashing .278/.335/.542 with a career-best 18 homers and 50 RBI along with 52 runs and two stolen bases.
Jul 7 2022Drury went 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's 8-3 extra-inning loss to the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After going just 2-for-19 over the prior six games, Drury snapped back to life at the plate and chipped in his second steal of the year for good measure. The veteran utility player is having a breakout campaign, slashing .270/.331/.524 through 293 plate appearances with a career-high 17 homers, 45 RBI and 50 runs.
Jul 5 2022Drury went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran utility player took Taijuan Walker deep in the third inning to tie the score at 3-3, but the Reds' offense didn't do much after that. Drury has established a new career high with 17 homers this season in only 69 games, and his .270/.331/.533 slash line should keep him locked into an everyday role for Cincinnati, barring a trade to a contender before the deadline.
Jul 3 2022Drury is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He'll sit for only the second time since the beginning of June, allowing Donovan Solano to pick up a start at third base while Mike Moustakas serves as Cincinnati's designated hitter. Drury's move to the bench comes after he went hitless in 11 at-bats with six strikeouts over the past three contests, but he's still slashing a robust .267/.326/.518 in 279 plate appearances this season.
Jun 29 2022Drury went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in a loss to the Cubs on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury's ninth-inning solo shot came with the Reds far out of contention for a win, but it at least gave fantasy managers who roster him something to smile about. The long ball was his 16th of the campaign, tying the career-best mark he established in more than twice as many games in 2016. Drury's breakout 2022 campaign also includes a solid .279/.337/.541 slash line and 40 RBI over 267 plate appearances.
Jun 26 2022Drury went 2-for-5 with an RBI triple and a run scored in a 10-3 win over the Giants on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury opened the offensive floodgates in the third inning with a triple off Anthony DeSclafani, his first of the season. The 29-year-old third baseman has a six-game hitting streak going and is on pace for a career year. According to Fangraphs, Drury has already accumulated a 1.8 WAR this year to tie his career-best season-long total from 2018. Drury's offensive production has been a pleasant surprise for a player with numerous seasons below replacement-level value.
Jun 25 2022Drury went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 9-2 loss to the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury went yard in the eighth inning, but it was far too late to make an impact on the result. He's clubbed seven of his 15 homers in his last 21 contests while going 28-for-84 (.333) in June. The productive month has boosted his slash line to .270/.329/.522 with 37 RBI, 44 runs scored, a stolen base and 13 doubles in 61 contests overall. As long as the bat stays hot, Drury should be penciled in for a near-everyday role at third base and as the No. 2 hitter.
Jun 24 2022Drury isn't starting Friday's game against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will get his first day off since June 8 after he went 6-for-17 with a double, a run, an RBI and two strikeouts over the last four games. Donovan Solano is starting at the hot corner and batting second Friday.
Jun 15 2022Drury went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury knotted the game at 3-3 in the eighth inning with his 13th home run of the season. He's tallied at least one hit in 13 of his 14 starts in June, racking up five home runs, eight RBI and 17 runs scored in that span. That stretch has added to Drury's excellent .370 wOBA and 134 wRC+, which he's maintained across 222 plate appearances this season.
Jun 13 2022Drury went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk in Monday's 5-4 win over Arizona. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury came up with the game's biggest hit in the fifth inning, smoking a 404-foot homer to left field to plate three runs and tie the score. The long ball was his 12th of the campaign and fourth in his past nine games. Drury has been swinging a hot bat in June, batting .413 (19-for-46) over 46 at-bats.
Jun 9 2022Drury (Achilles) will return to the lineup Thursday against Arizona, batting second and playing third base, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury was scratched from Wednesday's lineup with right Achilles soreness, but the problem evidently wasn't a particularly significant one. He'll hope to recapture the form he showed immediately prior to the injury, when he hit .444 with three homers in his first seven games in June.
Jun 8 2022Drury was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Reds due to right Achilles soreness, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury is in the midst of a seven-game hit streak during which he has a .444/.464/.778 OPS with three home runs, and it's unclear when the Achilles issue first surfaced. Alejo Lopez will enter the lineup in his place and start at the keystone, pushing Matt Reynolds to third base.
Jun 6 2022Drury went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Monday's 7-0 win over Arizona. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury set the tone early with his solo shot off of Madison Bumgarner in the first inning. He then singled and scored again in the seventh. The 29-year-old has produced five multi-hit efforts in his last six games, raising his season slash line to .263/.324/.497. Drury is hitting .279 with seven long balls and 28 runs scored since the start of May.
Jun 5 2022Drury went 2-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run, two additional runs scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 10-8 loss to the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The steal was his first of the year but the homer was his ninth, as Drury took Nats closer Tanner Rainey deep in the ninth inning. The veteran utility player has three multi-hit performances in the last four games, but on the season Drury is slashing a less electric .252/.317/.479 slash line with 27 RBI and 31 runs through 44 contests.
May 23 2022Drury was reinstated from the restricted list Monday prior to the Reds' series against the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Due to COVID restrictions, Drury was unable to travel to Canada and play the Blue Jays this past weekend, instead being placed on the restricted list. He'll return to the Reds for their four-game series versus the Cubs on Monday. After a hot start to May, Drury has batted .138 with two extra-base hits and four RBI over his last eight games.
May 20 2022Drury (undisclosed) was placed on the restricted list ahead of Friday's series opener at Toronto. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Players need to be vaccinated in order to enter Canada, so the news likely means Drury is unvaccinated and cannot enter the country. He should be available again when the Reds return home Monday to face the Cubs. Matt Reynolds and Alejo Lopez could see more playing time during his absence this weekend.
May 13 2022Drury went 2-for-5 with a homer and four RBI in Friday's win over the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury stretched the Reds' lead to three runs in the top of the fifth with a two-RBI double and extended the lead to five with a two-run homer two innings later. The performance continued the utility man's excellent start, improving his slash line across his first 28 games to .260/.339/.563.
May 9 2022Drury went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Monday's win over the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury singled in the third inning before launching a three-run homer off Brandon Woodruff in the bottom of the fifth frame. The 29-year-old notched multiple hits for the third time in four games and extended his hit streak to six games Monday. Over that six game stretch, Drury has produced 10 hits including two long balls while collecting 10 RBI and scoring seven runs over 25 at-bats. After signing with the Reds in the offseason, he's batting .284 with six homers and 18 RBI over 24 games this season.
May 8 2022Drury will start at third base and serve as the Reds' No. 2 hitter in Sunday's game against the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury enters the series finale with a four-game RBI streak, which he extended during his big performance in Saturday's doubleheader split with Pittsburgh. After going 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI in the Reds' 9-2 win in Game 1, Drury followed up by going 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, four RBI, two runs and a walk in the Reds' 8-5 loss in the nightcap. He'll stick in the lineup for the 11th game in a row and should have a good case for maintaining an everyday role even if Joey Votto (illness) and Nick Senzel (illness) are able to return from the COVID-19 injured list during the upcoming week. Once those two players are back in action, Drury could settle in as the Reds' regular second baseman while Jonathan India (hamstring) is on the shelf.
May 1 2022Drury will start at third base and bat fifth Sunday against the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will fill in at third base for the lefty-hitting Colin Moran, who takes a seat with southpaw Kyle Freeland on the hill for Colorado. It's the fourth consecutive start for Drury, who could have a path to steady playing time against right-handed pitching if the Reds elect to deploy him at second base following Jonathan India's (hamstring) placement on the injured list Sunday. Matt Reynolds will pick up the start at the keystone Sunday and could be a factor at the position during India's absence, as could Alejo Lopez.
Apr 26 2022Drury is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With Jake Fraley (knee) back in the lineup as the Reds' designated hitter after he was on the bench for the past five games, Drury doesn't look as though he'll see regular at-bats against right-handed pitching moving forward. He could still serve as a short-side platoon mate at DH for either Fraley or Tyler Naquin, both of whom are left-handed hitters.
Apr 24 2022Drury is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against St. Louis. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury started the past three games with Jake Fraley (knee) unavailable and will take a seat after going 2-for-12 with a walk, an RBI and a strikeout. Colin Moran will be the DH on Sunday while JT Riddle starts at the hot corner.
Apr 19 2022Drury is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury started the past four games but will receive Tuesday off after going 1-for-12 with a double, two walks and four strikeouts. The 29-year-old should continue to see increased playing time for the near future with Jonathan India (hamstring) on the injured list.
Apr 15 2022Drury is likely to get a start or two at second base due to Jonathan India's hamstring injury. India won't go on the IL, at least for now, but he isn't expected to play Friday night, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: In addition to India, fellow infielders Donovan Solano, Jose Barrero and Max Schrock are also out with injuries. On the active roster, Mike Moustakas can also play second base, but he'll likely remain at third base. Alejo Lopez is also with the team on the practice squad - it would require India (or one of Tommy Pham or Nick Senzel) to be placed on the IL for Lopez to figure in the picture.
Apr 14 2022Drury hit a solo home run in his only at-bat in Thursday's loss to the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: In the fifth inning, Drury came on as a pinch runner for Jonathan India, who departed the contest with a hamstring injury. Drury stuck around and produced a big hit for the Reds, going deep in the seventh to tie the game 3-3. The homer was the second this season for the veteran, who slugged his other long ball on Opening Day. Three of his four hits so far have gone for extra bases.
Apr 7 2022Drury went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Thursday's 6-3 win over Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Batting out of the ninth spot in the order, Drury produced half of the Reds' runs on one swing when he belted a three-run shot in the sixth inning. The veteran's starting nod was largely due to injuries to other players, as he is expected to fill mostly a utility and bench role this season. Drury has some power -- he's hit 13 or more homers in three different big-league campaigns -- but there's no reason to grab him off the fantasy waiver wire based on one strong performance.
Apr 4 2022The Reds list Drury (knee) as an available bench option for Monday's Cactus League game against the Royals, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury's inclusion on the lineup card suggests that his removal from Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks upon being hit in the knee by a pitch may just have been precautionary. With several Reds infielders banged up heading into Opening Day, Drury appears to have a good chance of breaking camp with Cincinnati as a utility infielder.
Apr 3 2022Drury was removed from Sunday's Cactus League game against the Diamondbacks in the top of the fifth inning after being hit by a pitch on his knee, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury has been competing for the Reds' last offensive roster spot, but he was removed from Sunday's matchup immediately after being hit by a pitch. The nature and extent of the injury aren't yet clear. Prior to his departure, he went 2-for-2 with a double, a run and an RBI.
Apr 2 2022Drury homered on Friday and has a chance to win the Reds' last offensive roster spot, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Reds don't have an obvious candidate to begin the season as their right-handed DH, which is where Drury fits in. He has some power upside, which obviously would play well in Cincy, but he'll struggle to hit for average, if he makes the team.
Mar 21 2022Drury agreed Monday with the Reds on a minor-league contract, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will be attending big-league camp with Cincinnati, hoping to impress enough over the next two weeks to earn a utility role on the Reds' Opening Day roster. The 29-year-old saw action in 51 games for the injury-riddled Mets in 2021, producing a .274/.307/.476 slash line to go with four home runs and 14 RBI across 88 plate appearances.
Aug 31 2021Drury was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, dicomo reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 29-year-old had only 24 at-bats over 19 games in August, and he'll head to the minors with Luis Guillorme (hamstring) returning from the injured list. Drury has a .277/.310/.482 slash line in 87 plate appearances for the Mets this season, and he could rejoin the big-league club down the stretch.
Jul 28 2021Drury went 1-for-1 with a game-winning solo home run in Wednesday's 2-1 victory over Atlanta. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Entering the game as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning, Drury got hold of a Max Fried curveball to produce the winning margin. The 28-year-old utility player now has four homers in only 52 plate appearances for the Mets, but he's unlikely to push his way into consistent playing time unless the team suffers another rash of injuries.
Jul 24 2021Drury was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury spent just over a month with the minor-league club, and he slashed .303/.375/.545 with five home runs, nine doubles, 21 RBI and 16 runs during that time. The 28-year-old should serve as a reserve infielder.
Jun 22 2021The Mets optioned Drury to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old failed to make an impact offensively after being called up May 21, hitting .182 and getting on base at a meager .217 rate. Patrick Mazeika was recalled Tuesday to replace Drury on the Mets' roster.
Jun 9 2021Drury is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Jonathan Villar returned to the lineup in Tuesday's 10-3 loss after missing the previous four games with a hamstring injury, closing the door on Drury's path to an everyday role. After having recently started four times in five-game stretch, Drury will now be on the bench for the third time in four contests with Villar available again.
Jun 6 2021Drury will start at third base and bat sixth Sunday against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will pick up his fourth start in five games Sunday, with the last three coming at third base in place of Jonathan Villar (hamstring). The Mets continue to view Villar as day-to-day, but Drury would likely settle in as the primary option at the position if Villar becomes the next player to join the team's lengthy injured list.
May 25 2021Drury will start in right field and bat third in Tuesday's game against the Rockies, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With the Mets dealing with a plethora of injuries in their outfield, the recently signed Drury will get the opportunity to bat in the middle of the lineup against Colorado.
May 21 2021Drury's contract was selected by the Mets on Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury hasn't done much in recent seasons, hitting just .205/.254/.346 in 167 games. He could see a fair number of at-bats in the near future, however, due to the Mets' extensive injury crisis. He'll head straight into the lineup Friday against the Marlins, batting seventh and playing first base in place of Pete Alonso, who hit the injured list with sprained hand in a corresponding move.
Mar 24 2021Drury was reassigned to minor-league camp Wednesday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury missed the first few weeks of spring training for an unspecified reason, but he appeared in 12 Grapefruit League games and hit .174 with two runs, two RBI, one walk and seven strikeouts. The 28-year-old should begin the season with Triple-A Syracuse.
Feb 26 2021Drury has yet to report to Mets' spring training, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's unclear why the 28-year-old has yet to join the team in Florida, though it's apparently not related to an injury. Drury signed a minor-league deal with the Mets during the offseason and figures to provide organizational infield depth in 2021.
Sep 1 2020The Blue Jays designated Drury for assignment Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury was cast off the 40-man roster following Monday's acquisition of Jonathan Villar, who is expected to serve as Toronto's everyday shortstop until Bo Bichette (knee) returns from the 10-day injured list. Before being optioned to the Blue Jays' alternate site over the weekend, Drury posted a .358 OPS over his 49 plate appearances with the big club.
Aug 28 2020Drury was optioned to the Blue Jays' alternate training site Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury was in the lineup for eight of the Blue Jays' last 13 games, but he picked up just five hits over 25 at-bats during that span, so the team decided to remove him from the roster to open up a spot for Daniel Vogelbach. Chances are Drury will rejoin the big club at some point, but given his .358 OPS on the season, he may not get the chance to play as regularly again.
Aug 19 2020Drury will start at second base and will bat sixth Wednesday against the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He'll be filling in at the keystone for Cavan Biggio, who receives his first day off of the season. While Drury likely won't be a serious threat to poach additional starts from Biggio, the 27-year-old's versatility along with the absence of everyday shortstop Bo Bichette (knee) has his playing time on the upswing. Drury is making his fourth start in five games, drawing assignments at three different positions during that stretch.
Aug 9 2020Drury is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: As expected, Drury has faded into a reserve role since Travis Shaw (personal) was reinstated from the bereavement list Tuesday. He'll be out of the starting nine for a fourth straight game.
Jul 30 2020Drury will start at third base and bat ninth Thursday against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury will stick in the lineup for the fourth time in five games since returning from the injured list over the weekend. All four of those starting assignments have come at the hot corner, so he'll most likely shift back to a bench role once Travis Shaw (personal) returns from the bereavement list.
Jul 26 2020Drury (undisclosed) was activated off the injured list Sunday and is starting at third base and batting eighth against the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 27-year-old landed on the injured list in early July and never joined the team at summer camp, but he was able to remain ready away from the team. Drury will look to rebound after posting a .218/.262/.280 slash line with 15 home runs in 120 games last season.
Jul 19 2020Manager Charlie Montoyo said Drury (undisclosed) could meet up with the team for the exhibition games in Boston on Tuesday and Wednesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 27-year-old has been on the injured list for undisclosed reasons since the start of summer camp, though he's continued participating in some baseball activities at the team facility in Florida. Drury is expected to work in a utility role this season, but his availability for Opening Day won't be determined until later in the week.
Jul 2 2020The Blue Jays placed Drury on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to an unspecified issue. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury was one of four Blue Jays placed on the IL, with no explanation given for any of the transactions. The move is retroactive to June 30, so if deemed healthy, Drury would be eligible to return from the IL before the Blue Jays begin their season July 23 or 24. Drury is expected to serve as a utility man for Toronto in 2020 after batting .218 with 15 home runs and 41 RBI over 447 plate appearances last season.
Mar 20 2020Drury is expected to begin the season in a bench role for the Blue Jays despite a weak .125/.192/.167 slash line through 26 plate appearances this spring. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The versatile utility man played every position on the diamond other than pitcher, catcher and center field last year, but Drury's bat hasn't been an asset since he left Arizona after the 2017 campaign. The 27-year-old could face competition for playing time around the infield from Joe Panik, and Santiago Espinal was also making a strong impression in camp before MLB hit pause on the season, so the chances of Drury seeing anything close to the 447 PAs he got in 2019 appear slim at best.
Jan 9 2020Drury signed a one-year, $2.05 million contract with the Blue Jays on Thursday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 27-year-old had a subpar season at the plate last season as he slashed .218/.262/.380 with 15 home runs over 120 games with the Blue Jays. Although his production in 2019 was discouraging, Drury's defensive versatility allows him to see a fair share of playing time.
Sep 28 2019Drury was a late addition to Saturday's lineup against the Rays. He will start at third base and hit fifth. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Vladimir Guerrero was scratched with a sore knee, so Drury gets added to the mix. He is hitting .188 with one home run in 14 games this month.
Sep 27 2019Drury is not in the lineup Friday against the Rays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury had started each of the last five games, appearing at shortstop and both infield corners. Rowdy Tellez and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will man the corners Friday, with Richard Urena starting at shortstop.
Sep 24 2019Drury went 1-for-6 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's 11-10 win over the Orioles in 15 innings. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Drury was making a start at his third position in as many days, this time playing shortstop after previously seeing action at first and third base. With Bo Bichette (concussion) seemingly unlikely to return before the regular season ends Sunday, Drury could enjoy a fairly stable role over the Blue Jays' final five games.
Sep 1 2019Drury will start in left field and bat eighth Sunday against the Astros, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
Aug 22 2019Drury is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Dodgers.
Aug 13 2019Drury went 2-for-5 with a home run and five RBI in Monday's win over the Rangers.
Aug 12 2019Drury will start at first base and bat eighth Monday against the Rangers, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Aug 6 2019Drury went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a three-run home run in Tuesday's 10-inning loss at Tampa Bay.
Aug 3 2019Drury went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-2 win over the Orioles.

Jul 24 2018Drury was diagnosed with a left bruise after X-rays came back negative Tuesday, Marc Carig of The Athletic New York reports.Drury exited Tuesday's game against the Rays after being hit by a pitch on the left hand. The severity of the bruise remains unclear at this point, but it wouldn't be surprising for the 25-year-old to at least be held out of the lineup for a couple of days.
Jul 24 2018Drury left Tuesday's game at Tampa Bay after being hit by a pitch on the hand, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.Drury briefly remained in the game, but exited after moving from first to third base. The 25-year-old should be considered day-to-day for now as the severity and specifics of the injury are currently unclear.
Jul 20 2018Drury was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday. The offseason acquisition hasn't been able to establish himself in New York, having battled both injuries and demotions, and is now firmly behind Miguel Andujar and Gleyber Torres in the battle for playing time in the Yankees' infield. His .178/.260/.289 line through 50 plate appearances is unlikely to earn him anything greater than a utility role for the time being, but he's been more successful than that in the past and could eventually carve out a larger role if he takes advantage of his opportunities.
Jul 9 2018Drury was sent to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.Drury was demoted following Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader against the Orioles. The 25-year-old second baseman hit just .195 with one homer and seven RBI through 14 games with the big club.
Jul 8 2018Drury will start at second base and bat seventh Sunday against the Blue Jays, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports. With Gleyber Torres (hip) on the disabled list, the Yankees have been breaking Drury in at second base after the latter served exclusively as a corner-infield option during his stints with the big club and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. Drury will pick up his second straight start at the position Sunday, but since both assignments have come against lefty pitchers, it appears he could be stuck in the short end of a platoon at the keystone with Neil Walker. Neither player has performed especially well for the Yankees this season, with Drury hitting .189 over 42 plate appearances and Walker batting .185 over 194 plate appearances.
Jun 29 2018Drury was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as expected Friday.Drury spent longer than initially expected in the minor leagues after originally being sent there on a rehab assignment while dealing with impaired vision and migraines. He performed very well at the Triple-A level, hitting .314/.419/.488 in 48 games. The emergence of Miguel Andujar and Gleyber Torres likely means that Drury won't have the playing time that he was originally in line for, but he'll still likely play an important role as a utility man.
Jun 28 2018Drury will be called up ahead of Friday's series opener against the Red Sox,Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. After a lengthy stay at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Drury is ready for his first major league game since going on the disabled list April 7. Drury played in all 24 June games at Triple-A and registered a .311/.404/.522 slash line over that 90 at-bat sample. The Yankees have yet to announce a corresponding move to clear a spot for Drury on the active roster.
Jun 19 2018Drury will begin playing first base twice a week for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Conor Foley of The Times-Tribune reports. The Yankees have acknowledged that Drury deserves to be in the majors, but there's currently no room for the infielder with Miguel Andujar and Gleyber Torres both mashing for the big club. He'll get some reps at first base moving forward in an attempt to provide him with another path to the majors. If Drury takes well to first base, he could potentially replace Neil Walker -- who is hitting just .204/.280/.286 this season -- on the big-league roster in a utility role.
May 11 2018Manager Aaron Boone said Drury (impaired vision) is "not all the way there yet" and won't return during the club's upcoming road trip that lasts until May 25, Coley Harvey of ESPN reports.Though general manager Brian Cashman stated that Drury could return "sooner rather than later" earlier this week, it appears as though that is no longer the case, at least for his return at the major-league level. Considering Drury's minor-league rehab assignment expires Tuesday, it's not yet clear what the Yankees intend to do. Either way, with the success of Miguel Andujar at third base and Gleyber Torres at the keystone, the team will have to make some difficult roster decisions once Drury is ready to re-enter the fold.
May 8 2018Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Monday that Drury (blurred vision) could return from the 10-day disabled list "sooner rather than later," though an exact date wasn't specified, Mike Mazzeo of the New York Daily News reports.Drury, who recently shifted his rehab assignment to Double-A Trenton, has appeared in 12 minor-league games since April 25 for two different affiliates, going a collective 14-for-39 (.359 average) with a home run in those contests. The strong showing at the plate seemingly suggests that Drury's bout with impaired vision and migraines is no longer much of a concern, but the Yankees have had little incentive to rush the veteran back with rookie Miguel Andujar thriving while logging regular at-bats at third base. Once Drury is back from the DL, manager Aaron Boone could face some tough lineup decisions, as Drury won't have a clear path to playing time at the keystone either with top prospect Gleyber Torres shining in an everyday role at that position since earning a promotion April 22.
Apr 30 2018Drury (impaired vision) will not return from the disabled list during the Yankees' series with the Astros this week, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.Although Drury is reportedly feeling better and playing regularly with the team's Triple-A affiliate, though the Yankees seem to be willing to wait things out a little longer. The strong play of youngsters Miguel Andujar and Gleyber Torres is also likely playing into this decision, making it seem as if the Yankees are unwilling to have Drury usurp either of those two infielders for playing time. Regardless, it seems like the earliest Drury will be able to return is Friday when the Yankees begin a nine-game homestead.
Apr 29 2018Drury (impaired vision) is participating in a rehab assignment at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but remains without an estimated return date, Marc Carig of The Athletic New York reports.Since beginning his rehab assignment on April 24, Drury has played in four games. Over said outings he's gone 6-for-13 (.462) and scored three runs. However, it's unclear when the Yankees are looking to bring him off the disabled list. It remains to be seen what Drury's role will be once he returns to full health, as top prospects Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar have been sound options since being promoted to the big club.
Apr 23 2018Drury (impaired vision) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment Wednesday, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.Erik Boland of Newsday reports that the third baseman's vision issue was due to a problem with a tendon in his neck. Drury is feeling better after getting stimuli treatment and should hopefully get back into game action without issue Wednesday.
Apr 16 2018Drury (impaired vision) said he is still dealing with blurred vision and migraines, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic New York reports.Drury was prescribed an anti inflammatory by a migraine doctor and is still awaiting test results from a series of examinations he underwent last week. He said his symptoms worsen with physical activity, but he's hoping his most recent round of testing will help resolve the issue once and for all. That said, he remains without a concrete return date.
Apr 10 2018Drury underwent numerous tests Monday in an effort to understand what's been causing his impaired vision and migraines, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.Although specific results of the tests have not been revealed, manager Aaron Boone said that the team has received good news from the examinations. Until Drury is ready to return, Miguel Andujar is expected to continue receiving regular time at the hot corner.
Apr 7 2018Manager Aaron Boone expressed concern over Drury's status and said that he will undergo "extensive tests" Monday to find a cause for the infielder's blurred vision and severe migraines, Wallace Matthews of The Athletic reports.Drury was placed on the 10-day disabled list after exiting Friday's game against Baltimore in the sixth inning. More will be known on his situation following Monday's tests. Expect to see Miguel Andujar scoop up a fair share of the starts at the hot corner while Drury is sidelined.
Apr 7 2018Drury was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday with severe migraines. He left Friday's 14-inning loss to the Orioles in the sixth inning due to impaired vision and a migraine, and while it didn't seem serious at the time, the fact he was placed on the DL is certainly cause for concern. Jace Peterson, whose contract was selected from Triple-A, will help plug the gap, along with Miguel Andujar, who now figures to see regular work at third base while Drury is out.
Apr 6 2018Drury exited Friday's 14-inning loss to the Orioles due to impaired vision and a migraine, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. The 24-year-old went 0-for-2 prior to being replaced by Ronald Torreyes in the bottom of the sixth inning. Drury will likely be further evaluated Saturday and should be considered day-to-day.
Apr 5 2018Drury is out of the lineup against the Orioles on Thursday.Drury will head to the bench for a standard day off as Miguel Andujar gets a start at the hot corner. Through six games, Drury is hitting .250 with an .825 OPS. Expect to see him back in the lineup for Friday's game.
Apr 1 2018Drury went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's loss to the Blue Jays.Drury launched his first home run of the season Sunday, bringing his RBI count to four along the way. Over four games with his new club, Drury has gone 5-for-13 (.385). Although Miguel Andujar could be brought up to the big club at some point this season, Drury should remain a regular in New York's powerful lineup if his production remains solid.
Mar 30 2018Drury went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and two RBI in Friday's 4-2 win over the Blue Jays. He's off to a good start to his Yankee career, rapping out three hits in two games. The 25-year-old seems to be settling in nicely as the starting third baseman, but he could get bumped to a bench role as soon as the front office deems Miguel Andujar ready for a promotion -- putting pressure on Drury to keep producing if he wants to keep his job.
Mar 26 2018Drury (elbow) said that he expects to play in the Yankees' Grapefruit League game Monday against the Braves, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.Drury went through full baseball activities Sunday without any complications, so it appears his left elbow injury is no longer much of a concern. The 25-year-old has been held out of Grapefruit League action since getting hit by a pitch Friday against the Red Sox, but manager Aaron Boone suggested Drury would have been able to play Sunday if necessary. Following two days off to rest, Drury should get a full slate of at-bats Monday as he prepares for a full-time role at third base this season.
Mar 23 2018Drury's X-rays on his left elbow didn't show any damage, Marc Carig of The Athletic reports. With the X-ray coming back negative, Drury shouldn't miss an extended period of time. It remains to be seen whether the infielder will compete in any more games this spring, but he should be near full health for Opening Day against the Blue Jays on Thursday.
Mar 23 2018Drury will get X-rays on his left elbow after getting plunked by a pitch in Friday's game, Marc Carig of The Athletic reports.Drury stayed in the game immediately after being hit but then left Friday's contest with a trainer following a Neil Walker ground-rule double in the next at-bat. More information should be known regarding his status once the results of his X-rays are revealed.
Mar 23 2018Drury left Friday's game against Boston after getting hit by a pitch, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.Drury was struck in the elbow by a pitch from Brian Johnson. He remained in the game to run the bases but was removed during a pitching change. The exact nature of the injury is not yet known.
Feb 22 2018Drury said he made changes to his swing this offseason in an attempt to hit more home-runs, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.Drury hit 37 doubles last season while swatting 13 homers in 135 games for the Diamondbacks. With his retooled approach, the 25-year-old is hoping to turn some of those two-baggers into homers. It should help playing half of his games in hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium. Drury's performance in Grapefruit League play should offer more insight into whether his adjustments are paying off.
Feb 21 2018Drury's main focus will be third base, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.Drury played almost exclusively as a second baseman in Arizona last year, starting just one game at third, though he's appeared at six different positions in his career and is valued for his flexibility. This news probably means that the Yankees view Gleyber Torres as more big-league ready than Miguel Andujar. Drury will likely enter the season as the Yankees' starting third baseman, and while his playing time may diminish once Andujar is called up, he should still earn a fair amount of starts all around the field.
Feb 20 2018Drury will have to compete for innings at second base this spring, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.Drury spent much of last season as Arizona's primary second baseman, but he faded down the stretch and settled into a part-time role by the season's end. Pair that with the offensive emergence of Ketel Marte and the defensive prowess of Nick Ahmed (wrist), and Drury is no lock to crack the Opening Day lineup. Chris Owings (finger) is also in the mix for playing time up the middle. The 24-year-old does have 100 extra-base hits to his name over the past two seasons, but his on-base numbers are lacking.
Feb 20 2018The Diamondbacks agreed to trade Drury to the Yankees on Tuesday as part of a three-team deal with the Rays, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.Drury's name had been mentioned in trade rumors throughout the winter. A deal finally materialized, and the landing spot is favorable as he goes to a hitter's park and his early-season role is less up in the air with the Yankees needing help at both second base and third. Drury could stand to take more walks, but he has shown he can hit for a decent average and some power when given the opportunity. He won't turn 26 until August.
Sep 26 2017Drury went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 9-2 loss to the Giants. With the Diamondbacks punching their ticket to the postseason over the weekend, manager Torey Lovullo filled the lineup Monday with mostly reserves, and since Drury was one of the more accomplished bats in the starting nine, he slotted into the No. 3 spot. He justified the assignment with an RBI double in the bottom of the first and brought home the Diamondbacks' final run of the night on a base hit in his second at-bat. Drury is now batting 7-for-20 over his last seven contests, but for the time being, it still appears as though he'll be locked into a timeshare at the keystone with Daniel Descalso.
Sep 24 2017Drury went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 12-6 loss to the Marlins. With the Marlins bringing a lefty (Dillon Peters) to the hill for a second straight day, Drury drew the start at the keystone, resulting in Daniel Descalso moving to the bench. The duo will continue to share time at the position, as Drury hasn't done enough in a platoon role to warrant a larger slate of at-bats. He's batting an unremarkable .226/.281/.434 in September.
Sep 17 2017Drury went 2-for-4 with a double in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Giants. The double was Drury's team-leading 35th of the season. Drury remains in a timeshare at second base with Daniel Descalso, but offers more fantasy upside of the two thanks to his superior power.
Sep 12 2017Drury is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies. This will be Drury's second absence in four games since Paul Goldschmidt's return to first base -- he and Daniel Descalso seem destined to split time fairly evenly at second over the remainder of the campaign. Drury has a .686 OPS since the All-Star break, which is more than 110 points lower than his mark from the first half.
Sep 9 2017Drury is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres.Drury recently homered in back-to-back games, but he's still batting just .220 with a .423 SLG since the All-Star break. With Paul Goldschmidt (elbow) returning to first base Saturday, Daniel Descalso will presumably take back over as the primary second baseman in Arizona.
Sep 5 2017Drury went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 13-0 win over the Dodgers. As has been customary since Chris Owings was shut down with a fractured finger in late July, Drury picked up the start at the keystone with a lefty (Rich Hill) on the hill for the Dodgers, resulting in platoon mate Daniel Descalso riding the bench. Drury came through with his second home run in many games and extended his hit streak to six contests in the process, which could give him a compelling case for drawing more frequent starts against right-handers, too. Descalso hasn't offered much of an impact at the plate since the beginning of August, producing a .234/.298/.377 slash line.
Sep 4 2017Drury went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Rockies.Drury picked up his second start of the three-game series Sunday, which was somewhat surprising given that the Rockies brought a right-hander (German Marquez) to the hill. Daniel Descalso has been occupying the larger portion of the platoon at second base lately, but his offensive struggles since the beginning of September may have opened the door for Drury to stake his claim to a larger role.
Aug 30 2017Drury went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, a run scored and two RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Dodgers. It's been feast or famine for Drury at the plate lately. Eight of his last nine hits have gone for extra bases (six doubles, a triple and a homer), but they've been scattered across 12 games, leaving him with an awkward .257/.250/.571 slash line during that stretch. If the 25-year-old can start producing some singles or walks to supplement his gap power he could be a fantasy force, but as things stand his main value comes from his flexibility and multi-position eligibility in deeper formats.
Aug 27 2017Drury is out of the lineup Sunday against the Giants.Drury had started the previous three games at second base, with the latter two coming against left-handed pitchers. The 25-year-old should remain a lineup mainstay against southpaws, but he still looks to be stuck in the weak side of a platoon at second base with Daniel Descalso, who gets the start Sunday.
Aug 20 2017Drury went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two doubles and two runs scored during Sunday's loss to Minnesota. After losing out on playing time, Drury suited up for all three games during the series against Minnesota. Obviously, the ability to utilize a designated hitter opened additionally opportunities for Drury, but this showing should help him receive more starts moving forward. After all, he's now registered six extra-base hits through his past 21 at-bats. Still, he's far from a reliable fantasy option at this stage of the game.
Aug 16 2017Drury went 0-for-2 with two walks and an RBI in Tuesday's 9-4 loss to the Astros. With primary second baseman Daniel Descalso struggling to produce in August, manager Torey Lovullo decided to deploy Drury in the lineup instead against the right-handed Brad Peacock. It wasn't an overwhelming performance from Drury, but he at least excelled in working the count Tuesday, seeing 19 pitches on the evening. Drury will likely need a few more solid showings before emerging as the preferred option in the timeshare at the keystone.
Aug 9 2017Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo confirmed Tuesday that Drury and Daniel Descalso would be deployed as a platoon at second base for the time being, Kevin Zimmerman of the ArizonaSports.com reports. As the right-handed hitter of the duo, Drury will find himself on the short end of the platoon, which was apparent through his usage in recent contests, as he's been on the bench for four of the last six games. With a .273 average and nine home runs on the season, Drury possesses a higher fantasy ceiling than the light-hitting Descalso, but his inferior fielding coupled with his offensive struggles since late June will limit his at-bats, and by extension, his overall value.
Aug 6 2017Drury is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Jody Jackson of Fox Sports Arizona reports.Drury will open the game on the bench for the second straight day as the Diamondbacks close out their weekend series against Jeff Samardzija and the Giants. Daniel Descalso will take over at second base, batting sixth.
Aug 5 2017Drury is out of Saturday's lineup against the Giants.Even with Chris Owings suffering a significant injury, Drury still seems locked into a role where he sits once or twice each week. Daniel Descalso will start at the keystone and hit sixth against righty Chris Stratton.
Aug 3 2017Drury went 2-for-5 with a solo home run during Thursday's win over the Cubs.Arizona is dealing with a number of injuries to its middle infield, so Drury should continue to receive consistent at-bats at second base moving forward. He sports a respectable .276/.327/.443 slash line with nine homers, 44 RBI and 32 runs for the campaign. Those numbers move the fantasy needle in deeper settings.
Aug 2 2017Drury made his first start of the season at third base, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout.Drury's offensive tailspin continued in his return to the lineup following a two-game hiatus, but his performance in the field proved to be a bigger issue. While receiving the start at the hot corner for a resting Jake Lamb, Drury misplayed a grounder, prolonging a four-run inning for the Cubs. Once Lamb reclaims his regular spot in the starting nine, Drury will likely move back to his more familiar place at second base, where he could regain a full-time role in spite of his lack of success at the plate of late. Chris Owings fractured his middle finger Sunday and could miss the rest of the regular season, leaving a long-term vacancy in the middle infield that Drury should be the top candidate to fill.
Aug 2 2017Drury is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Cubs. With the multitude of injuries plaguing the Diamondbacks' middle infield, Drury seems to be in line for a bit more playing time, but he'll hit the bench Wednesday as his struggles at the plate continue. Daniel Descalso will pick up a start at second base in his place.
Jul 29 2017Drury is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cardinals, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.Drury has found himself sitting regularly since Ketel Marte's promotion from Triple-A -- Saturday marks his seventh absence already since the All-Star break. The 24-year-old has been a net positive in the field, but he's disappointed at the dish with a .278/.328/.441 slash line 338 plate appearances this season.
Jul 27 2017Drury takes a seat for Thursday's series opener against the Cardinals. This marks the fifth time in the last eight games that Drury will retreat to the bench. He's had a good year to date, hitting .277/.328/.442 with eight home runs and 43 RBI, but has stagnated as of late while others such as Daniel Descalso and Ketel Marte are getting into grooves offensively. For Thursday's game, Chris Owings slides over to man the keystone while Marte draws the start at short.
Jul 26 2017Drury is not in Wednesday's lineup for the series finale against the Pirates. He heads to the bench for the fourth time in the last seven games, as the D-Backs continue to search for ways to keep Daniel Descalso in the lineup. Drury will need to show more consistency from the plate if he is to keep an everyday role with the team moving forward.
Jul 24 2017Drury is not in the lineup Monday against the Braves.Drury has been scuffling at the plate since the All-Star break, producing just a .572 OPS in that eight-game span. He'll hit the bench as the Diamondbacks continue to employ a carousel of options at second base. Daniel Descalso will man the keystone Monday evening.
Jul 20 2017Drury is not in the Diamondbacks' lineup Thursday, Jody Jackson of Fox Sports Arizona reports.Drury rarely plays a full week's worth of games, despite his versatility in the field, as the Diamondbacks continue to mix and match second base and shortstop between Drury, Chris Owings and Ketel Marte. The latter two are starting up the middle Thursday, in fact. Drury's deep-league fantasy owners must continue monitoring his lineup status.
Jul 16 2017Drury is out of the lineup Sunday against the Braves.Drury will head to the bench for the first time in the second half, allowing Chris Owings to start at second while Ketel Marte gets the nod at shortstop. It's been an average month of July for the infielder, who is 8-for-31 at the plate with just two RBI.
Jul 9 2017Drury is out of Sunday's lineup against the Reds.He will start the final game of the first half on the bench, with Ketel Marte starting at shortstop and Chris Owings sliding over to second base. With Marte's recent promotion, Drury seems to be in line for slightly less playing time in the second half.
Jul 7 2017Drury went 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, an RBI and two runs during Friday's win over the Reds. The second baseman is turning in a serviceable fantasy campaign and projects to remain a viable asset hitting in the heart of the dangerous Arizona lineup. Drury is now up to a .287/.334/.465 slash line with eight homers, 40 RBI and 30 runs.
Jul 3 2017Drury went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Rockies.Drury's one-out single in the bottom of the ninth helped ignite a Diamondbacks attack that had been dormant for most of the afternoon, as Chris Iannetta followed up with a double before Ketel Marte drove Drury home for the game-winning run. After he doubled earlier in the contest, Drury cashed in on his first multi-hit effort since June 21, ending a 3-for-28 drought at the plate in between.
Jun 26 2017Drury is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.Drury went just 1-for-11 (.091) over the first three games of the series, so he'll get a breather for Monday's series finale. Chris Owings is starting at the keystone in his place, opening up a spot for Nick Ahmed to slide into the lineup at shortstop.
Jun 22 2017Drury is out of the lineup during Thursday's matchup with Colorado. After going 4-for-6 with six RBI in Wednesday's thrashing of the Rockies, Drury will take a seat while Chris Owings takes his place manning the keystone. Drury is likely to be back in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Phillies.
Jun 21 2017Drury went 4-for-6 with a double, six RBI and a run in Wednesday's 16-5 win at Colorado. After going 0-for-4 in the series opener, Drury bounced right back and got a big chunk of the action in this classic Coors Field game. Over his last 10 contests, Drury's gone 16-for-37 (.432) with three homers and 14 RBI, and that hitting in combination with his multi-position eligibility makes him worthy of a roster spot in just about any format.
Jun 19 2017Drury went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Reds in 10 innings.Drury extended his hitting streak to a season-best eight games with the two knocks. Seven of Drury's 12 hits over that span have gone for extra bases -- including three home runs -- so his ongoing success at the plate hasn't merely been a byproduct of running a high BABIP. With three games at Coors Field on the docket next for the Diamondbacks, Drury looks like a strong lineup option in all formats this week.
Jun 14 2017Drury went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Tigers. The 24-year-old may be the hottest hitter in the league right now, homering in three straight games and four times in his last five starts. Drury only has eight home runs on the season, but his .847 OPS would be a career high if he can maintain this pace.
Jun 12 2017Drury went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 11-1 win over the Brewers.Drury hit one of three seventh-inning home runs for the Diamondbacks, giving him two long balls in as many days. The 24-year-old hasn't had the breakout campaign some may have projected for him, but his season slash line of .284/.332/.473 is at least comparable to what he provided in his promising first full year in the big leagues in 2016 (.284/.332/.473).
Jun 11 2017Drury went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Brewers.Drury's sixth-inning jack -- his sixth of the season -- gave the Diamondbacks the lead for the first time all game and eventually would go down as the winning hit. The infielder is batting just .206 over his last 11 games, but he's at least been displaying a little more power of late with three extra-base hits in his past four contests.
Jun 9 2017Drury is not in the lineup Friday against the Brewers.Drury has just three hits in the past week, so he'll head to the bench for a night off. Chris Owings will slide over to second base to fill in for him while Nick Ahmed enters the lineup to fill out the infield.
Jun 8 2017Drury went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run during Wednesday's win over San Diego.Drury went 14 games without a home run and posted a discouraging .525 OPS with just four RBI and two runs during that stretch. He's sporting a respectable .286/.330/.450 slash line for the campaign, but it hasn't translated into noteworthy counting stats. Drury's five homers, 22 RBI and 19 runs only move the needle in deeper settings.
Jun 4 2017Drury is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins. With just three hits in his previous 19 at-bats, Drury will head to the bench while Daniel Descalso takes over at second base. Expect to see Drury back in the lineup Tuesday against the Padres.
May 31 2017Drury is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Pirates. After delivering a 3-for-3 performance Sunday in Milwaukee, Drury wasn't able to carry that momentum over to the first two games of the series with the Pirates, going 1-for-8 with two strikeouts. He'll get a breather in the day game after a night game, allowing Nick Ahmed to pick up a start at shortstop while Chris Owings shifts over to the keystone.
May 28 2017Drury went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI in Sunday's 9-5 loss to Milwaukee.Drury didn't exactly blister the ball. Two of his hits were of the infield variety, while his third hit was a shallow fly to right. He added a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to continue an Arizona rally as well. With the perfect day at the plate, Drury now finds his average at .299, thanks in part to a lofty .372 BABIP.
May 22 2017Drury is not in the lineup Monday against the White Sox, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.Drury is slumping at the plate as of late (4-for-25 in his past seven games), so he'll get a night off to right the ship. Daniel Descalso will take a turn at the keystone in his stead.
May 20 2017Drury went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 10-1 win over the Padres.Drury supplied one of the Diamondbacks' two homers during an eight-run first inning, smacking a 391-foot blast to left center to bring around Yasmany Tomas. He would go on to add a base hit later in the contest to earn his fifth two-hit performance of May, propping his average up to .296 for the month. Drury did strike out in each of his other three at-bats on the evening, however, and his swing-and-miss tendencies could eventually put him at risk of seeing his average drop precipitously once his .382 BABIP normalizes.
May 14 2017Drury is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.Drury is on a tear at the plate recently, collecting nine hits in his previous 20 at-bats, raising his season average to .322. Despite the hot stretch, the Diamondbacks will give the young second baseman the day off Sunday against Ivan Nova and the Pirates. Chris Owings will take over at second base in Drury's absence.
May 13 2017Drury went 3-for-5 with a double and a three-run home run in Friday's 11-4 rout of the Pirates. His bat's come alive over the last four games, as Drury has gone 8-for-16 with four doubles, two homers and six RBI. His spot in the bottom half of the Arizona lineup makes him a riskier DFS play, but he'll be tough to ignore as long as this current hot streak lasts.
May 11 2017Drury went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Tigers. His last five hits have all gone for extra bases (four doubles, one homer), boosting his slash line on the season to .312/.353/.468. That performance is buoyed by a .386 BABIP, however, and Drury's 10 RBI and 13 runs scored in 30 games are a bit disappointing considering how explosive the Arizona offense has been so far this season. This might be a good time to try and sell high on the 24-year-old.
May 10 2017Drury went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI in Tuesday's 7-3 loss to the Tigers. Both two-baggers came off Justin Verlander. Unlike seemingly everyone else in MLB, Drury has had trouble this season getting the ball over the fence and has just one homer (against eight doubles and a triple) and nine RBI through 29 games. His production should increase as the weather warms up, though, and a potent Arizona offense should provide him with plenty of RBI opportunities going forward.
May 7 2017Drury is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.Though he's posted a solid .300 average early in the season, Drury's playing time has been a bit spotty recently. After sitting out Thursday's contest, the second baseman will again head to the bench for Sunday's tilt against Tyler Chatwood and the Rockies. The 24-year-old will likely be back in the lineup Tuesday against the Tigers.
May 4 2017Drury is not in the Diamondbacks' Thursday lineup against the Nationals. The infielder has finally started to show a bit of thump recently but won't get a chance to build on it against Washington's Max Scherzer. Daniel Descalso will take Drury's spot at second base Thursday.
Apr 29 2017Drury went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday against the Rockies. The 24-year-old has been a high-average hitter thus far, but he finally managed to send one over the fence Saturday when Rockies starter Tyler Anderson let a 1-1 changeup get a little too much of the plate. Saturday's performance brings Drury's OPS up to .802, which is 15 points up from last season's final tally.
Apr 28 2017Drury (knee) is batting fifth and playing second base Friday against the Rockies. After sitting out Thursday's game with a jammed knee, Drury is back in the lineup for the Diamondbacks. The 24-year-old is off to a nice start at the plate this season, slashing .310/.372/.394 with seven runs and seven RBI through 20 games.
Apr 27 2017Drury (knee) is not in the lineup Thursday against the Padres.Drury had to exit Wednesday's game with a jammed knee and will sit out Thursday night. The team has yet to indicate that Drury's injury is severe, so consider him day-to-day for now. With Drury out Thursday, Chris Owings will move over to second base while Nick Ahmed fills in at shortstop.
Apr 26 2017Drury exited Wednesday's game prematurely with a jammed right knee.Drury was 1-1 with two walks before Nick Ahmed subbed in at shortstop and Chris Owings slid over to fill in at second base. The injury doesn't appear to be overly serious, as the Diamondbacks are considering him day-to-day, but Owings and Ahmed would likely stick to those respective roles should Drury miss any time.
Apr 26 2017Drury was lifted from Wednesday's contest against the Padres after landing awkwardly on his right leg, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.Drury was 1-for-1 with two walks before being forced out of the game with the injury. Nick Ahmed subbed in at shortstop while Chris Owings slid over to fill in at second base. It's unclear how serious the injury is at this point, so consider him day-to-day until the Diamondbacks release more information about his status.
Apr 26 2017Drury went 3-for-5 with a double in Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Padres.Drury was one of six Diamondbacks batters to record at least two hits, and it's already the fifth multi-hit game of the campaign for the 24-year-old. If there's one criticism that can be levied at a hitter who's batting .300 on the season, it's that Drury's strikeouts are beginning to mount. He's now whiffed seven times in his last seven games, which count but his average at risk of falling once his .382 BABIP normalizes.
Apr 22 2017Drury is out of Saturday's lineup against the Dodgers. He has started 16 of the first 19 games of the season, hitting .293/.339/.379, and has not yet hit a home run or successfully stolen a base (0-for-1). Daniel Descalso will start at second base and hit sixth.
Apr 22 2017Drury went 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and two runs scored in Friday's 13-5 win over the Dodgers. It's the first multi-hit outing for Drury since April 8, concluding a 10-game stretch where he'd gone just 5-for-36 at the dish. In collecting two walks as well Friday, Drury matched his combined output from his previous 15 games this season. The Diamondbacks would probably like to see Drury show some improved plate discipline, but he's still fairly secure in his everyday starting role at second base.
Apr 17 2017Drury is not in the lineup Monday against the Dodgers.Drury is off to a nice start to the season, slashing .295/.311/.386 through 13 games, but he'll take a breather after playing in nine straight games. Daniel Descalso will take over at second base for the game.
Apr 12 2017Drury went 1-for-4 with an RBI single and a strikeout in Wednesday's loss to the Giants.Drury left four men on base over the course of the evening, but he also managed to bring home half of the Diamondbacks' runs for the evening on one swing of the bat. Despite the relatively meager showing, the 24-year-old's batting average is still at an excellent .344 mark, and although he hasn't flashed much power in the early going, it's hard to complain about six RBI in nine games to go with such a good average.
Apr 9 2017Drury went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs in Saturday's 11-2 win over the Indians.Yasmany Tomas, Drury and Jeremy Hazelbaker, the Diamondbacks' Nos. 5 through 7 hitters, were at the center of both of the team's big innings in the sixth and eighth, finishing the night with three hits apiece. Drury is now .526 on the season -- tops among Diamondbacks regulars -- though only two of his 10 hits have gone for extra bases.
Apr 6 2017Drury is not in the lineup Thursday against the Giants.Drury is making the most of his everyday playing opportunities thus far, but he'll get a regular day of rest Thursday. Daniel Descalso will log a start at the keystone in his stead.
Apr 6 2017Drury went 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Giants.Drury has occupied the sixth spot in the lineup in all three of the Diamondbacks' games, and it appears he'll stick there against both left- and right-handed pitching. After Drury's standout spring allowed him to claim an everyday role at second base, there was some optimism that he might occupy a more favorable spot in the lineup between A.J. Pollock and Paul Goldschmidt, but shortstop Chris Owings has instead assumed those duties and has been reaping the benefits. As a result, Drury's opportunities to rack up runs may be a bit more limited than expected, but so long as he's able to keep making steady contact against left- and right-handed pitching while routinely flashing his burgeoning power, fantasy owners shouldn't be too disappointed.
Mar 25 2017Drury is hitting .408 (20-for-49) with a 1.064 OPS this spring. He's won the starting second base job, manager Torey Lovullo told ArizonaSports.com. "Offensively he's having a great spring, but we knew he was built around offense and that was going to be, really, the non-issue for him," Lovullo added. "So he should be proud of himself for how he's addressed the needs defensively, he's been really good."With Drury locked in at second base, Chris Owings, Nick Ahmed and Ketel Marte are battling for the starting shortstop job. Drury hit 16 home runs and compiled a .786 OPS last season, and could take a bigger step forward in the power department in 2017 with steady at-bats at a set position after playing the infield and outfield last season.
Feb 24 2017Drury focused on improving his agility in the offseason in hopes of being the Diamondbacks' everyday second baseman, and he said dropped more than 10 pounds while adding muscle, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports. After playing the outfield for most of 2016, he's the likely choice to man the keystone heading into 2017. The work the 24-year-old performed on his side-to-side movement could help him lock down second base for the long term, despite the fact he may face competition at times from Ketel Marte. Drury popped 16 home runs and a .786 OPS last season and could take a bigger step forward in the power department, especially if he occupies close to a full-time role. He still carries sleeper appeal late in mixed fantasy drafts.
Feb 22 2017Drury is hitting second and starting at second base for the D-backs in their spring exhibition against Grand Canyon University on Wednesday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports. In a lineup that has the look of one that manager Torey Lovullo might use on Opening Day (with the exception of David Peralta yielding the start in right field to Oswaldo Arcia due to visa issues), Drury is in a prime spot ahead of Paul Goldschmidt and Jake Lamb on the lineup card. Drury's greatest competition for playing time at second base may come from Ketel Marte, but it appears as though Drury has the inside track for the starting job at the keystone to begin spring games.
Dec 12 2016Drury could be in line to see a lot of time at second base in 2017, MLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports. "We're going to try and get as many at-bats for our best players, so he would be one of those," general manager Mike Hazen said. The new leadership team has expressed a desire to improve the outfield defense, play Jake Lamb almost every day at third base, and get Drury as many at-bats as possible, which leads to the idea that he could win the starting job at second base during spring training. Drury played primarily in the outfield last season, despite playing only third base and second base in the minors. Despite the position change, he still posted a .282/.329/.458 slash line with 16 home runs in 499 plate appearances, and he could possibly improve upon those numbers if his defensive responsibilities are simplified. Chris Owings, Ketel Marte and Nick Ahmed will be competing for the shortstop job in spring training, and whoever loses out will likely also be considered at second base, but based on his production in 2016 and the statements from the new brass, Drury appears to have the inside track.
Nov 11 2016General manager Mike Hazen suggested Drury is very much in the team's plans for 2017 but he may not have a set defensive position to begin the year, the Arizona Republic reports. "I think more than anything else when you have a hitter of that caliber you want to find him at-bats," Hazen said. "It's a similar situation to what we had with Brock Holt in Boston. You find a way to get him on the field. That's of the most critical importance, getting him in the lineup. The defensive position becomes secondary."Drury saw time at first base, second base, third, left field and right field in 2016, and it sounds like he could fill a similar super-utility role to begin 2017. After a strong first two months of the season, Drury struggled in June and July but bounced back and finished with a very strong .282/.329/.458 batting line and 16 homers in 461 total at-bats. Hazen said improving his outfield defense will be a priority for the 24-year-old Drury this winter.
Oct 3 2016Drury went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Padres.Drury's third and final hit was a game-tying homer with two outs in the eighth, setting Arizona up for a walk-off win in the ninth. Drury was excellent over the season's final month, batting .357/.417/.633 with six home runs and 19 RBI from Sept. 2 onward. The 24-year-old finishes his rookie season with a solid .282/.329/.458 slash line to go along with 31 doubles, 16 homers and 53 RBI in 499 plate appearances.
Sep 18 2016Drury went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, two walks, two RBI and three runs in Sunday's 10-9 victory over the Dodgers.Drury capped his big day at the plate with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 12th, propelling Arizona to victory after his team blew a six-run lead earlier in the game. The 24-year-old rookie has caught fire in September, homering five times and batting .449 with 14 RBI in 13 games. Drury's recent hot streak has pushed his batting line up to .284/.334/.461, and he now has 15 homers to go along with 26 doubles in 412 at-bats.
Sep 14 2016Drury went 3-for-5 with a homer, two RBI and two runs against the Rockies on Wednesday. He homered in all three games of this series and now has a six-game hitting streak going in which he's ripped opposing pitching for 13 knocks -- seven of them for extra bases. That makes Drury an appealing down-the-stretch fantasy pickup in leagues where he was cut loose following a lengthy slump that lasted from June through August.
Sep 13 2016Drury went 4-for-5 with a home run and three runs scored in Monday's win over the Rockies.Drury has been getting fairly regular at-bats lately in left field, although he started at second in this one. He's been pretty solid with the bat all season, so when he is starting, Drury makes for a good bargain play in daily leagues. This is especially true when he's at home, where his OPS has been more than 100 points higher this year.
Sep 7 2016Drury is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.Socrates Brito will get the start in place of Drury in left for Wednesday's game with Arizona facing right-hander Brock Stewart. Wednesday marks Drury's third absence from the lineup since rosters expanded at the beginning of the month as Brito has begun to cut into his playing time a bit.
Sep 3 2016Drury is out of the lineup Saturday against the Rockies.Drury was a bit better in August than he was during a brutal slump in June and July, but he really hasn't been very productive since April and May. He will sit in favor of Socrates Brito in left field Saturday, and could continue to lose out on at-bats over the final month now that rosters have expanded.
Aug 22 2016Drury went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Padres.Drury drove in the only run for the Diamondbacks and he was the only Arizona player with more than one hit. The 24-year-old is getting fairly regular playing time in the outfield, but recent call-up Mitch Haniger has been earning a look lately as well. Drury remains an option in daily leagues when he's in the lineup, but there are probably better choices in standard leagues.
Aug 13 2016Drury is out of the lineup Saturday against the Red Sox.Drury was seeing regular playing time in left field while Yasmany Tomas was out with a neck issue, but now that Tomas is back, Drury's playing time should decrease somewhat. He is slashing .256/.302/.416 with 10 home runs in 344 plate appearances this year and has really cooled off since a hot start.
Aug 10 2016Drury went 2-for-4 with his 10th home run of the season in Tuesday's win over the Mets. The home run was a solo shot off of Mets starter Steven Matz. With teammate David Peralta recently landing on the DL, Drury figures to be in line for more playing time in the outfield. He usually provides solid offensive output, so he may be worth picking up as long as he's getting regular playing time.
Aug 9 2016Drury is in the lineup Tuesday against the Mets. After Yasmany Tomas was scratched from the lineup, Drury got the nod to start in right field. Drury will be batting fifth as Arizona takes on Steven Matz and the Mets.
Aug 2 2016Drury is not in the starting lineup for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. The Diamondbacks outfield consists of Yasmany Tomas in left, Chris Owings in center and David Peralta in right. Assuming all four of these players stay healthy the rest of the season, Drury looks like he will be the odd man out the majority of the time. The 23-year-old is hitting .207 in his last 29 at-bats.
Jul 31 2016Drury is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.Drury has gone just 10-for-46 (.217 average) in 14 appearances since the All-Star break, and could see his at-bats decline with the Diamondbacks activating David Peralta from the DL earlier this weekend. Fortunately, Drury's ability to play some infield won't completely close his pathway to playing regularly, but he may need to show improvement with his hitting in order to remain a mainstay in the lineup.
Jul 25 2016Drury is out of the lineup Monday against the Brewers.Rickie Weeks will get the start in left field and hit fifth Monday, as Drury appears to be getting just a routine day off. Drury has hit safely in six of his last seven games, ripping three doubles over that span, but he has not hit a home run since July 6.
Jul 17 2016Drury went 1-for-4 with a game-winning RBI single in the 12th inning against the Dodgers on Saturday.Drury picked a good time for his only hit of the game, going the opposite way off Dodgers righty Casey Fien to plate Jake Lamb as the winning run. Drury is now slashing .268/.307/.441 and is getting regular playing time in the corner outfield spots for the Diamondbacks.
Jul 15 2016Drury is out of Friday's lineup against the Dodgers. It appears the Diamondbacks wanted to load up the lineup with lefties Friday against righty Bud Norris, even though Drury had started the last seven games before the All-Star break. He notched eight hits and five of the extra-base variety over that stretch, and figures to be in the lineup most days going forward. Chris Herrmann will start in left field and hit sixth Friday.
Jul 7 2016Drury went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's loss to the Padres. With David Peralta injured and Peter O'Brien sent back down to the minors, Drury is getting more run in the corner outfield spots these days, and he's been delivering. Over the last seven days, Drury is 7-for-24 (.292) with four doubles and a home run. If he gets regular playing time, Drury can be a fantasy asset with his bat.
Jun 24 2016The Diamondbacks recalled Drury from Triple-A Reno on Friday, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.Drury was optioned to Reno last weekend in an effort to get him more playing time, but the Diamondbacks decided to bring him back just a few days later with Socrates Brito (foot) landing on the disabled list. Drury owns a respectable .769 OPS at the big-league level this year, but he will likely remain in a part-time role with Jake Lamb playing every day at third base and Peter O'Brien and Yasmany Tomas regularly filling the corner outfield spots.
Jun 19 2016Drury was optioned to Triple-A Reno following Sunday's victory over the Phillies.Drury was actually awarded the start Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in the effort. He had been losing playing time of late due to the promotion of Peter O'Brien, however, so he had likely been next in line for a demotion if a roster spot was needed. The Diamondbacks have yet to announce a corresponding move, though it will likely come Monday when they activate projected starter Shelby Miller.
Jun 15 2016Drury has been sitting more often following the promotion of Peter O'Brien, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports. The Diamondbacks are trying to get O'Brien's bat into the lineup, and that's come at the expense of Drury. In the five days since O'Brien's promotion, Drury has sat four times, and he's sat six times in the last eight games. It's hard to justify owning Drury right now given the lack of opportunities.
Jun 8 2016Drury is out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Rays, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.Drury, who's been struggling at the plate in his last four games (1-for-9 in that time), will get the night off as the Diamondbacks face the right-handed Jake Odorizzi. Yasmany Tomas, who's hitting .233 against right-handed pitchers, will take Drury's spot in right field.
Jun 3 2016Drury is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.Drury went just 2-for-11 with five strikeouts over his last three games, so manager Chip Hale decided to give him a day off Friday. Drury has played several positions of late but has seen most of his action in right field.
May 30 2016Drury is out of the lineup Monday against Houston.Drury has now worked his way into the lineup at multiple positions for 10 consecutive contests, but he'll be given the day off Monday afternoon. In his stead, Michael Bourn will get the starting nod in right field against Collin McHugh and the Astros.
May 27 2016Drury went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Friday against the Padres. The 23-year-old outfielder remains hot with hits in four of the past five games. Even though he hasn't showcased much power of late with only three extra-base hits in the last 10 games, he remains tied with Paul Goldschmidt for the franchise's lead in homer runs this year with eight.
May 23 2016Drury went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.Drury continues to play almost every day--and hit--for the Diamondbacks. He started at third on Sunday, with Jake Lamb sitting against lefty Jaime Garcia, but Drury has primarily been playing in the outfield, where Arizona is thin due to injuries to A.J. Pollock and David Peralta. Drury is worth owning in most leagues due to his strong offensive production (.306/.335/.531, seven home runs, 15 RBI) and multi-position potential.
May 17 2016Drury is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's matchup with the Yankees.Drury has been a major force at the plate and took over as the primary right fielder once David Peralta (wrist) was placed on the disabled list, but he'll get his first day off since Apr. 26. Chris Herrmann will get a rare start in right field in his stead.
May 15 2016Drury will make his sixth straight start in right field Sunday against the Giants.Drury has been occupying the outfield reps left behind by David Peralta (wrist), and with Peralta's placement on the DL Sunday, he could see at least another week of steady playing time. Even when Peralta returns, manager Chip Hale will likely keep trying to find ways to get Drury and his .855 OPS into the lineup on a regular basis.
May 10 2016Drury is in the lineup and batting second for Tuesday's game against the Rockies.Drury will start in right field for David Peralta who is out with a right forearm injury. The 23-year-old has been outstanding through 28 games, hitting .298/.321/.577 with six home runs, 13 RBI, and 16 extra-base hits.
May 7 2016Drury went 1-for-5 with a solo homer in Friday's 7-2 victory over the Braves. The second-year outfielder continues to swing a hot bat, now having hit safely in 11 of his last 14 games, a span that includes seven multi-hit efforts. The gopher ball was also Drury's second homer of the month and fifth over the last nine contests. The 23-year-old appears to be blossoming with every passing game, and is now slashing .300/.319/.600 over his 90 at-bats.
May 1 2016Drury went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored during Sunday's loss to Colorado. The rookie is in the midst of an absolute power surge over the last five games, as he has five extre-base hits, including four home runs, to go along with six RBI and six runs scored during that span. He is thriving in the two-hole for a strong Arizona lineup and is worth a look in all formats as long as he continues to produce at this rate.
Apr 28 2016Drury went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo homer and two runs Thursday against the Cardinals. That's homers on consecutive days and six extra-base hits in the last four starts for Drury, an impressive run that's lifted his small-sample-size OPS over .900. The problem for Drury is that it's going to be tough to carve out starts on a consistent basis with Jake Lamb and Yasmany Tomas blocking him at third base and in left field, respectively. But if he keeps hitting, he'll find his way into the lineup more often than not.
Apr 27 2016Drury is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, starting in right and batting seventh.Drury will start for Chris Owings while David Peralta will move over to center. Drury is batting .302/.321/.491 on the year, and will provide more pop for the Diamondbacks' lineup in Wednesday's game. The 23-year-old has provided depth as a utility man early on in 2016, earning starts at third base as well as the corner outfield spots, but if he continues to hit like this, Arizona will be forced to get him in the lineup more often than not.
Apr 27 2016Drury went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in an 11-4 loss against the Cardinals on Wednesday. At the time, he gave the D-backs a 2-1 lead, but that certainly didn't hold up. Drury has, however, been a powerful presence in the Arizona lineup recently -- over the last nine games, he's racked up 13 hits in 35 at-bats (.371), including two homers, four doubles and a triple. With his hitting chops, semi-consistent lineup spot and potential multi-position eligibility, Drury should be flying off waiver wires.
