May 14 2025Rosario signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario became a free agent Sunday after being pushed off Atlanta's 40-man roster, and he'll now attempt to work his way back into the majors with Milwaukee. The 33-year-old outfielder is 1-for-8 in three MLB games this season but has slashed an impressive .339/.406/.542 in Triple-A.
May 9 2025Atlanta designated Rosario for assignment Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran outfielder inked a one-year deal with Atlanta in late April and played just three games over the past couple weeks, going 1-for-4 with two strikeouts. Rosario will be jettisoned from the 40-man roster in favor of Luke Williams, who had his contract selected Friday.
Apr 20 2025The Dodgers designated Rosario for assignment Sunday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran outfielder joined the big-league roster Friday with Shohei Ohtani landing on the paternity list, but it will be a short stay in the majors with Ohtani rejoining the club Sunday. Rosario went 1-for-4 with a double in his two games with the team. Assuming he passes through waivers unclaimed, he could elect free agency or return to Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he has a .948 OPS through 14 contests this year.
Apr 18 2025The Dodgers selected Rosario's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With Shohei Ohtani away from the team for the birth of his first child, Rosario will come up from the minors to fill the void on the actvie roster. The 33-year-old has impressed while in Triple-A, slashing .339/.406/.542 with two homers, 12 RBI, 11 runs scored and three stolen bases through 14 games, but he shouldn't be expected to contribute much while with the Dodgers. Edgardo Henriquez (foot) was transferred to the 60-day IL to make room for Rosario on the 40-man roster.
Mar 11 2025Rosario was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Dodgers on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario signed a minor-league deal with Los Angeles in February and he'll now likely open the regular season with Triple-A Oklahoma City. The outfielder struggled to a .154 average with two home runs, five RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base over 26 at-bats in 12 games during spring training.
Feb 15 2025Rosario signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Saturday that includes an invitation to spring training, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario endured the worst season of his MLB career last year, slashing .175/.215/.316 with 35 RBI and nine stolen bases across 319 plate appearances between Washington and Atlanta. He'll now look to bounce back with the Dodgers, though the amount of talent Los Angeles has on its big-league roster bodes poorly for Rosario's chances of getting reps in the majors.
Aug 25 2024The Mets released Rosario on Sunday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario has now parted ways with three teams in the National League East this season alone, as he was previously cut loose by Washington and Atlanta. Unlike those previous two stops, Rosario never received a look at the big-league level with the Mets, as he was assigned to Triple-A Syracuse upon signing with the organization on a minor-league deal earlier this month. He saw action in seven games for Syracuse, slashing .103/.133/.310 with eight strikeouts in 30 plate appearances.
Aug 13 2024Rosario signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Tuesday, Pat Ragazzo of SI.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario elected free agency Sunday after being DFA'd by Atlanta, and he didn't have to wait long for another opportunity. The 32-year-old has taken a major step back at the plate this season, slashing just .175/.215/.316 across 319 plate appearances between Atlanta and Washington, though he could claim a bench spot in New York if he's able to turn things around with Triple-A Syracuse.
Aug 11 2024Rosario elected free agency Sunday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 32-year-old rejected an outright assignment to Triple-A Gwinnett after being designated for assignment by Atlanta, and he'll now return to free agency. Rosario has a .175/.215/.316 slash line in 91 games between Washington and Atlanta this season.
Aug 10 2024Rosario cleared waivers Saturday and was sent outright to Triple-A Gwinnett, Grant McAuley of 92.9 The Game Atlanta reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario was dropped from the 40-man roster Thursday after slashing just .154/.181/.282 in 24 plate appearances with Atlanta. No other team was willing to take a chance on the 32-year-old outfielder, so he'll remain stashed away in Atlanta's farm system as organizational depth.
Aug 8 2024Atlanta designated Rosario for assignment Thursday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario's reunion with Atlanta made sense on paper, but the results simply weren't there, with the veteran outfielder slashing just .154/.181/.282 with a 23:3 K:BB over 24 contests. The 32-year-old will pass through waivers and eventually be released, at which point he will seek a job in a new organization. For now, Adam Duvall will see more action in left field with Rosario out of the mix. However, center fielder Michael Harris (hamstring) is due back from the injured list soon, at which point Jarred Kelenic will return to left field.
Aug 7 2024Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Atlanta is facing a right-handed starter (Freddy Peralta) for the ninth game in a row Wednesday, but the lefty-hitting Rosario will give way to the right-handed-hitting Adam Duvall for the first time during that stretch. Manager Brian Snitker might have just wanted to get Duvall some work to keep him sharp at the plate, but Rosario hasn't done much to justify maintaining a strong-side platoon role. Since joining Atlanta on July 8, Rosario is slashing .154/.181/.282 with a 27.4 percent strikeout rate.
Aug 1 2024Rosario went 0-for-1 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He got the start in left field, batting sixth against right-hander Freddy Peralta, but Rosario was replaced by Adam Duvall in the seventh inning with lefty Jared Koenig on the mound. Trade deadline acquisition Jorge Soler is expected to start in right field going forward, but Duvall and Rosario seem headed for a platoon in left, with the latter on the strong side of that arrangement. Manager Brian Snitker likely won't hesitate to play the hot hand if one of the two significantly out-produces the other, however. Rosario is batting just .189 (7-for-37) over his last 12 games, but he does have three home runs and eight RBI over that stretch.
Jul 28 2024Rosario is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Rosario will retreat to the dugout Sunday with the Mets sending southpaw David Peterson to the mound. Luke Williams will start in left field and bat ninth.
Jul 21 2024Rosario went 3-for-7 with a walk, two home runs and three RBI across both ends of Saturday's doubleheader split with the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After taking Ryan Fernandez deep in the seventh inning of the matinee for a game-tying two-run blast, Rosario clubbed a solo shot off Sonny Gray in the sixth inning of the nightcap. It was the veteran outfielder's first homers and first RBI in nine games for Atlanta this season, and he's batting just .219 (7-for-32) since returning to the club. With Atlanta's front office rumored to be looking for outfield help at the trade deadline, Rosario may need to heat up quickly if he wants to hang onto a significant role with the team down the stretch.
Jul 14 2024Rosario will start in left field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Since signing a minor-league deal with Atlanta on July 5 and earning a promotion to the big leagues four days later, Rosario has moved into a strong-side platoon role in the outfield. He'll pick up a seventh straight start -- all against right-handed pitchers -- after going 4-for-21 with a double and three runs over his first six games with Atlanta.
Jul 8 2024Atlanta selected Rosario's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario needed just three games at Gwinnett to convince Atlanta he was ready for a shot at the big-league level, going 3-for-11 with one home run and one triple. The 32-year-old slashed just .183/.226/.329 in 235 plate appearances this season before being cut loose by the Nationals, but while with Atlanta in 2023, he hit .255/.305/.450 with 21 home runs over 142 games. Rosario will likely receive regular playing time in left field against right-handed pitching while Atlanta scrambles to find outfield production due to Ronald Acuna (knee) and Michael Harris (hamstring) being out.
Jul 5 2024Atlanta signed Rosario to a minor-league contract Friday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After Rosario was released by the Nationals earlier this week, his return to Atlanta seemed inevitable. The veteran outfielder slashed an ugly .183/.226/.329 in Washington, but last year in Atlanta he posted a .755 OPS with 21 home runs as its primary left fielder. Rosario will report to Triple-A Gwinnett for now but should get an opportunity with the big club sooner rather than later.
Jul 3 2024The Nationals released Rosario on Wednesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and is now free to sign with another organization. The veteran outfielder slashed a measly .183/.226/.329 for the Nationals before being cut loose, but with a .755 OPS and 21 home runs just a year ago, Rosario should draw interest now that he can be signed on the cheap.
Nov 6 2023Atlanta declined Rosario's $9 million option for 2024 on Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario slashed .255/.305/.450 with 21 home runs and 74 RBI over 142 games for Atlanta this season and is also a National League Gold Glove finalist in left field. Ultimately, Atlanta still felt he wasn't worth the $9 million investment as a platoon bat. Rosario shouldn't have trouble finding a starting job somewhere else.
Oct 12 2023Rosario isn't in Atlanta's lineup Thursday against the Phillies for Game 4 of the NLDS. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With left-hander Ranger Suarez making his second start of the series for Philadelphia, the lefty-hitting Rosario will step out of the lineup. Kevin Pillar will start in left field instead and bat seventh.
Oct 7 2023Rosario isn't starting Game 1 of the NLDS against Philadelphia on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Phillies will send out left-hander Ranger Suarez to start Saturday's contest, so the lefty-hitting Rosario will retreat to the bench to begin the game. Kevin Pillar will take over in left field and bat ninth.
Sep 26 2023Rosario is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Kevin Pillar will start in left field and bat ninth as the NL East champions take on southpaw Justin Steele. Rosario has drawn only 63 plate appearances versus lefties this year, compared to his 431 plate appearances versus righties.
Sep 24 2023Rosario is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario started the matinee in left field and went 1-for-4 while batting sixth. Forrest Wall will start the nightcap in left, batting ninth.
Sep 22 2023Rosario isn't in Atlanta's lineup Friday against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With left-hander Patrick Corbin set to start on the mound for Washington, the lefty-hitting Rosario will take a seat to begin Friday's contest. Kevin Pillar will take over as Atlanta's left fielder and bat ninth.
Sep 19 2023Rosario is absent from the lineup Tuesday versus the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Kevin Pillar will start in left field and bat eighth as the NL East champions take on left-hander Cristopher Sanchez. Rosario has gone hitless over his last four games and continues to sit against most southpaws.
Sep 13 2023Rosario is not in the lineup Wednesday versus the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Kevin Pillar will start in left field and bat eighth as the NL East leaders take on left-hander Cristopher Sanchez. Rosario has drawn only 59 plate appearances against southpaws this season, compared to his 411 plate appearances against righties.
Sep 8 2023Rosario went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario snapped his 11-game homerless skid with a two-run shot in the fourth inning. He's strung together three straight multi-hit games, raising his season slash line to .266/.321/.486 through 123 games. Since the start of August, Rosario has gone 33-for-101 (.327) with 12 extra-base hits and 22 RBI.
Aug 30 2023Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario will step out of the lineup for the second time in the series while Colorado brings another lefty (Kyle Freeland) to the hill. Platoon mate Kevin Pillar will replace Rosario as Atlanta's starting left fielder.
Aug 28 2023Rosario is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After starting in all three of Atlanta's games over the weekend while the Giants brought a trio of right-handers to the hill, the lefty-hitting Rosario will hit the bench for the series opener in Colorado while southpaw Austin Gomber toes the rubber for the Rockies. Platoon mate Kevin Pillar will spell Rosario in left field and will bat eighth.
Aug 23 2023Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The reigning National League Player of the Week will take a seat for the second time in the series while the Mets bring another lefty (Jose Quintana) to the hill. Kevin Pillar will spell Rosario in left field and will bat second.
Aug 21 2023Rosario is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With southpaw David Peterson on the mound for the Mets, Atlanta manager Brian Snitker will counter with a more right-handed-heavy lineup than usual. Rosario and fellow lefty hitter Nicky Lopez will bow out of the starting nine, clearing spots in left field and at second base for Kevin Pillar and Vaughn Grissom, respectively.
Aug 19 2023Rosario went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double, an additional RBI and an additional run scored in Saturday's 6-5 victory over the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario had an incredibly productive day at the plate Saturday, reaching safely in all four of his at-bats, including a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth off Taylor Rogers. The long ball was Rosario's 19th of the year and the third of his last five appearances. Over that five-game stretch, Rosario is batting 10-for-18 (.556) with 10 RBI and six runs scored.
Aug 16 2023Rosario went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and a walk in a 2-0 win against the Yankees on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Atlanta and New York combined for a meager two runs in the contest, both of which came on Rosario's 422-foot blast in the second inning. The veteran outfielder's long ball was his second in his past three games following a 14-contest stretch without a homer. Rosario is up to 18 home runs on the campaign, his most since he went deep 32 times with Minnesota in 2019.
Aug 14 2023Rosario went 3-for-5 with one double, a home run, four RBI and three runs scored in Monday's 11-3 win over the Yankees. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario extended Atlanta's lead to 6-2 with a two-run single in the third inning before blasting a two-run homer off Albert Abreu in the eighth. It was Rosario's 17th home run of the season and his first since July 29 -- he'd gone just 8-for-42 (.190) with a .483 OPS over his previous 14 games. Still, the 31-year-old Rosario has been Atlanta's primary left-fielder against right-handed pitching. He's now slashing .249/.296/.459 with 55 RBI and 49 runs scored across 378 plate appearances this season.
Aug 12 2023Rosario isn't in Atlanta's lineup for Saturday's nightcap against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Mets will send Jose Quintana to the mound to start the nightcap, so the lefty-hitting Rosario will retreat to the bench to begin the game. Kevin Pillar will take over in left field and bat eighth.
Aug 6 2023Rosario is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario is mired in a 2-for-17 slump and will take a seat for Sunday's series finale in Chicago. Kevin Pillar will man left field and bat eighth against Cubs lefty Justin Steele.
Aug 1 2023Rosario is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Kevin Pillar will cover left field and bat seventh as the NL East leaders face off against southpaw Patrick Sandoval. The left-handed-hitting Rosario has gone 0-for-7 with four strikeouts and no walks over his last two games.
Jul 19 2023Rosario (hamstring) will play left field and bat seventh in his return to Atlanta's lineup Wednesday versus the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario missed his team's last two games after exiting Saturday's contest against the White Sox with right hamstring tightness. He's feeling well enough to give it a go in this one versus right-hander Ryne Nelson.
Jul 18 2023Rosario (hamstring) remains absent from the lineup Tuesday against the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario hasn't appeared in a game since Saturday due to right hamstring tightness, though it's not expected to lead to a stint on the injured list. Sam Hilliard is covering left field and batting ninth for Atlanta on Tuesday night. Michael Harris will hit seventh.
Jul 16 2023Rosario (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Sam Hilliard starts in left field, batting ninth against right-hander Dylan Cease, after Rosario departed Saturday's game with right hamstring tightness. Atlanta did not announce a roster move, so Rosario remains day-to-day for now. The team figures to re-evaluate his status following Monday's off day.
Jul 15 2023Rosario exited Saturday's game against the White Sox with right hamstring tightness, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario appeared to tweak the hamstring while chasing after Andrew Benintendi's double in the fifth inning and was replaced prior to the start of the sixth. Atlanta should have more on the outfielder's condition after the game, but a stint on the injured list would seem possible. Rosario clubbed a solo home run in one of his two plate appearances before being removed.
Jul 1 2023Rosario went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Friday's rout of the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran outfielder got in on a 15-hit, 16-run eruption by Atlanta with a two-run shot off Bryan Hoeing in the first inning. Rosario has six of his 14 homers on the year in his last 13 games, slashing a blistering .400/.510/.900 over that stretch with 14 RBI.
Jun 20 2023Rosario is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Kevin Pillar will play left field and bat eighth with left-hander Ranger Suarez on the mound for Philly. Marcell Ozuna is serving as Atlanta's designated hitter and batting sixth. Rosario has actually fared pretty well versus southpaws this year, but he'll likely continue to draw most of his playing time against righties.
Jun 18 2023Rosario went 3-for-4 with two homers, six RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's 14-6 victory over the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario got Atlanta on the board with a three-run shot off Chase Anderson in the second inning, cutting the deficit to 5-3. Rosario would add an RBI single in the fourth before smacking another homer, a two-run blast off Brent Suter in the sixth. The 31-year-old Rosario has been on a tear at the plate -- he's now homered in four straight games, going 8-for-13 while driving in 11 runs in that span. His slash line is up to .265/.305/.511 through 233 plate appearances this season with 13 homers, 33 runs scored and 37 RBI.
Jun 17 2023Rosario went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk against the Rockies in a 10-2 victory Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario hit one of four homers off Connor Seabold, swatting a 414-foot two-run shot to center field in the third inning. It was his third straight game with a long ball, pushing hit total to 11 home runs on the season. Rosario is on pace to reach the 20-homer mark for the first time since 2019, when he slammed a career-high 32 long balls for Minnesota.
Jun 15 2023Rosario is not in the lineup Thursday against the Rockies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Kevin Pillar will cover left field and bat seventh with left-hander Kyle Freeland toeing the slab for Colorado. Marcell Ozuna is serving as Atlanta's designated hitter and batting sixth.
Jun 10 2023Rosario is not in Saturday's lineup against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With lefty MacKenzie Gore on the hill for Washington, Kevin Pillar will patrol left field while Marcell Ozuna gets the nod at designated hitter. Rosario is on a heater, batting .357 with three home runs over his last 10 games.
Jun 5 2023Rosario went 1-for-5 with a grand slam in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 31-year-old played hero by belting a Miguel Castro pitch to right field in the ninth inning, erasing a 5-4 deficit. Rosario has three homers in the last three games to give him eight long balls on the year, and after a rough start to the season at the plate he's slashing .286/.290/.538 over his last 25 contests.
Jun 2 2023Rosario went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs in Friday's 3-2 loss to Arizona. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario took Merrill Kelly deep in the second and seventh innings, but Atlanta couldn't put any other runs on the board. Over his last six games, Rosario has gone 8-for-21 (.381) with two homers and three doubles. The outfielder's big game Friday lifted his slash line to .251/.280/.449 with seven homers, 20 RBI, 20 runs scored and a stolen base through 175 plate appearances. He continues to start almost exclusively versus right-handed pitchers.
May 17 2023Rosario went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario opened the scoring with his second-inning blast off Nathan Eovaldi. The long snapped a 15-game homer drought for Rosario, who still made effective contact by batting .309 over that span. The veteran outfielder is slashing. 252/.287/.423 on the season with four homers, 13 RBI, 13 runs scored and a stolen base through 129 plate appearances. He remains in a strong-side platoon role in left field.
May 15 2023Rosario is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Rosario will bow out of the starting nine for the second day in a row while the Rangers bring a southpaw (Cody Bradford) to the hill for the series opener in Texas. Kevin Pillar will fill in for Rosario in left field.
May 14 2023Rosario is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario is in the midst of a 10-game hit streak during which he has a .333/.350/.436 slash line, but he'll head to the bench Sunday with southpaw Yusei Kikuchi on the mound for Toronto. Kevin Pillar will man left field and bat seventh in the series finale.
May 3 2023Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With southpaw Braxton Garrett on the hill for Miami, the lefty-hitting Rosario will bow out of the starting nine. Marcell Ozuna will replace Rosario as Atlanta's designated hitter.
Apr 6 2023Rosario is not in Atlanta's lineup Thursday versus the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Kevin Pillar will start in left field and bat eighth with left-hander Blake Snell on the mound for San Diego. Rosario has zero extra-base hits through 14 plate appearances this year.
Apr 2 2023Rosario is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: For the second time in three games, the lefty-hitting Rosario will head to the bench while Atlanta opposes another southpaw (MacKenzie Gore). Rosario is likely to remain in a strong-side platoon role for the foreseeable future, with either Marcell Ozuna or Travis d'Arnaud typically taking his spot in the lineup when Atlanta faces left-handed starting pitchers.
Mar 30 2023Rosario is on the bench Thursday in Atlanta's opener versus the Nationals, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario's back is fine, but he's sitting because there's a lefty (Patrick Corbin) on the mound for the Nats. It will be Marcell Ozuna in left field and Travis d'Arnaud in the designated hitter spot.
Mar 26 2023Rosario (back) will serve as Atlanta's designated hitter and No. 8 batter in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario was scratched from Atlanta's spring lineup the past two days due to lower-back stiffness, but at least for the time being, the club appears optimistic that he'll be able to play Sunday in a non-defensive role. The Pirates are bringing southpaw Rich Hill to the mound, but the lefty-hitting Rosario is expected to find himself on the bench more often than not when Atlanta opposes lefties during the regular season.
Mar 25 2023Rosario (back) was scratched from the lineup for Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Twins but is reportedly fine, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario was scratched Friday with lower-back stiffness but was initially set to return Saturday, only for Atlanta to decide he needs another day. Assuming he returns to the lineup soon, he should be Atlanta's primary lefty fielder to open the season.
Feb 24 2023Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Friday that Rosario (eyes) has "been a different guy" so far in camp, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario battled vision issues in early 2022 and ultimately slashed just .212/.259/.328 across 270 plate appearances, but he has some rebound potential following eye surgery last April, which resulted in slightly better offensive numbers when he returned to Atlanta's active roster in July. He'll aim to put a good foot forward with Team Puerto Rico in the upcoming World Baseball Classic before likely manning left field for the reigning NL East champs Opening Day.
Oct 11 2022Rosario will sit for Game 1 of the NLDS against the Phillies on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario usually sits against lefties, so it's no surprise to see him on the bench here against Ranger Suarez. Robbie Grossman will start in left field in Rosario's absence.
Oct 4 2022Rosario will remain on the bench Tuesday against Miami. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario has only started five games against lefties this season and won't add to that number here against Braxton Garrett. Robbie Grossman will get the start in left field.
Oct 3 2022Rosario isn't starting Monday against the Marlins, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario is getting a breather after he went 0-for-8 with an RBI and three strikeouts over the last three games. Robbie Grossman will take his place in left field and bat ninth.
Sep 28 2022Rosario will start in left field and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Nationals, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He's now picked up starts in each of Atlanta's last 13 matchups with right-handed pitchers, a firm indication that the lefty-hitting Rosario has settled back into the large side of a platoon in left field. The 31-year-old will take a six-game hitting streak into Wednesday's series finale.
Sep 26 2022Rosario went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and two runs scored in Sunday's extra-innings win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Getting the start in left field and batting seventh, Rosario kept the line moving for Atlanta and got driven home twice by Dansby Swanson on a second-inning single and a fourth-inning homer. Rosario has been making the most of his opportunities lately, batting .414 (12-for-29) with three doubles, a solo homer and seven runs scored in his last 10 games dating back to Sept. 11.
Sep 14 2022Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in San Francisco, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario picked up four hits while starting in the past two games, but he and William Contreras look like they'll be the odd men out of the lineup more often than not. Atlanta has recently been leaning on the quartet of Ronald Acuna, Michael Harris, Robbie Grossman and Marcell Ozuna to fill out its outfield and designated-hitter spot.
Sep 7 2022Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Oakland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Rosario will take a seat against a lefty (Ken Waldichuk) for the second consecutive day, after he was previously on the bench versus southpaw Cole Irvin on Tuesday. With Ronald Acuna serving as Atlanta's designated hitter, the righty-hitting Marcell Ozuna and the switch-hitting Robbie Grossman will occupy the corner-outfield spots.
Aug 27 2022Rosario will get the day off Saturday against the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario has now been on the bench for two straight games, though both have come against lefties like Saturday's starter Jordan Montgomery. William Contreras will be the designated hitter in Rosario's absence.
Aug 26 2022Rosario is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosoario is 4-for-22 with 11 strikeouts in his past seven contests and will take a seat in the series opener at St. Louis. William Contreras will bat sixth as the designated hitter Friday.
Aug 23 2022Rosario is on the bench for Tuesday's game in Pittsburgh. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: William Contreras will be the designated hitter for the second game of the set against the Pirates. Rosario went 0-for-3 with a walk Monday and has hit .219 with three extra-base hits in his last 10 games.
Aug 22 2022Rosario (hamstring) is starting at designated hitter and batting sixth Monday versus the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario is back in the starting lineup after sitting Sunday's contest with a sore hamstring. The injury may prevent Rosario from playing left field for a few days, but he should be capable of seeing regular starts at DH against right-handed pitching while he waits for the soreness in his hamstring to dissipate. The 30-year-old has batted .250 with a home run, two RBI, three runs and a stolen base over his last 10 games.
Aug 21 2022Rosario is out of the lineup Sunday against the Astros due to a sore hamstring, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario is out of the lineup for the first time in four games. He is available off the bench, so his absence is not likely to be lengthy.
Aug 17 2022Rosario (hamstring) will serve as Atlanta's designated hitter and No. 5 batter in Wednesday's game against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The left hamstring issue that kept Rosario on the bench for Tuesday's 5-0 win may keep him out of the field for a few more days, but Atlanta apparently is satisfied enough with how the 30-year-old is moving around the bases to make him available as a DH. Rosario has turned in a pedestrian .234/.270/.421 slash line in 33 games since he returned from a stint on the 60-day injured list in early July, but both he and Robbie Grossman look as though they'll continue to play ahead of the struggling Marcell Ozuna, who is on the bench Wednesday for the third straight contest.
Aug 15 2022Rosario (hamstring) is expected to miss the next game or two, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Brian Snitker stated after Monday's game that Rosario shouldn't require a trip to the injured list, but the team will hold him out for the next day or so to ensure he doesn't make the injury any worse. Robbie Grossman figures to be the next man up in let field until Rosario gets the green light to return.
Aug 13 2022Rosario isn't starting the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario will get a breather with left-hander Jesus Luzardo on the mound for Miami during Saturday's matinee. Robbie Grossman is starting in left field and batting sixth.
Aug 9 2022Rosario is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario and Robbie Grossman are working in a left field platoon, so with southpaw Rich Hill on the bump Tuesday for the opponent, Grossman will get the start and Rosario will open the game on the bench.
Aug 6 2022Rosario will be on the bench for the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With lefty David Peterson on the mound for the Mets, Rosario will hit the bench in favor of Robbie Grossman. Expect Rosario to return against righty Max Scherzer in the nightcap.
Aug 5 2022Rosario went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and three RBI in Friday's 9-6 win over the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario drilled a three-run shot off of Taijuan Walker in the first inning and knocked an RBI double in the second. He's gone 11-for-33 (.333) with four extra-base hits over his last nine games, raising his season slash line to .184/.230/.304 through 39 games. After driving in seven runs in his first 35 appearances, Rosario has nine RBI over the last four games.
Aug 3 2022Rosario went 3-for-5 with a double, five RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 13-1 win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The five RBI were a season-high total for Rosario and matched his output from his previous 13 contests combined. Though he's turned in an unremarkable .671 OPS since coming off the 60-day injured list in early July, Rosario still looks like he'll hold down a strong-side platoon role in the corner outfield even after Atlanta acquired Robbie Grossman prior to Tuesday's trade deadline. Rosario will start in left field and bat fifth in Wednesday's series finale.
Jul 27 2022Rosario went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, an RBI and a run in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Rosario had sat out each of the past three contests while Atlanta faced three left-handed pitchers in a row, but he checked back into the starting nine Tuesday against Philadelphia right-hander Aaron Nola. Rosario turned in a productive day while batting out of the No. 6 spot, and he should continue to enjoy a regular spot in the lineup versus right-handed pitching now that his main challenger for playing time, Adam Duvall, is scheduled to undergo season-ending wrist surgery. Rosario will start in right field and bat fifth in Wednesday's series finale, per Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Jul 25 2022Rosario is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Rosario will take a seat for the third game in a row, with all of his absences from the lineup coming against left-handed pitching. Though Atlanta doesn't seem prepared to hand Rosario a full-time role, he should have a clear path to playing regularly versus right-handed pitching after his main challenger for playing time, Adam Duvall, was diagnosed with a wrist injury that will require season-ending surgery.
Jul 24 2022Rosario is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario finds himself in a 4-for-26 slump and will take a seat for the second straight game. However, Adam Duvall (wrist) landed on the injured list Sunday, so it's unlikely Rosario is in danger of losing additional playing time for the immediate future. Guillermo Heredia will start in left field and bat eighth in the series finale versus the Halos.
Jul 23 2022Rosario isn't starting Saturday's game against the Angels, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario started the last three games but is getting a breather with left-hander Patrick Sandoval on the mound Saturday. Adam Duvall is taking over in left field and batting sixth.
Jul 15 2022Rosario isn't starting Friday against Boston, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario will get a breather after he hit .217 with a homer, a double, two runs, two RBI and a stolen base over his last six games. Adam Duvall is starting in left field and batting fifth.
Jul 14 2022Rosario went 3-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: All three Atlanta runs came on solo shots, with Rosario capping the scoring in the ninth inning off Tommy Hunter. Since returning to the lineup July 4 after recovering from eye and vision issues, Rosario has started eight of 10 games, batting .267 (8-for-30) with both his homers on the year.
Jul 12 2022Rosario is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Rosario's streak of four consecutive starts in left field will come to an end, as the righty-hitting Adam Duvall replaces him in the lineup with a southpaw (David Peterson) on the mound for the Mets. Duvall has served as an everyday player for most of this season, but he and Rosario could end up settling into a platoon with rookie Michael Harris having solidified his spot as Atlanta's primary option in center field alongside Ronald Acuna. Atlanta's plans in left field have yet to be formally clarified, however, as Duvall spent the past weekend on the paternity list before being activated Monday.
Jul 9 2022Rosario went 0-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's win over the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After beating out a potential double-play grounder in the second inning, Rosario advanced to second on a wild pitch, stole third and came around to score on a Michael Harris double. The steal was his first of the season in 20 games, but Rosario is still trying to regain his form at the plate after a lengthy layoff due to vision issues, going 3-for-16 with a solo home run and a 0:3 BB:K in five games (four starts) since being activated from the injured list.
Jul 7 2022Rosario is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario started in left field in each of Atlanta's three games since being activated from the 60-day injured list Monday, going 3-for-10 with a solo home run. All of those starts coincided with Adam Duvall being sidelined with a hand injury, but the latter is back in the lineup for Thursday's series finale. Now that Atlanta has all of its key regulars available save for second baseman Ozzie Albies (foot), Rosario may have to settle for fourth-outfielder duties, but he should still pick up at least a couple starts per week.
Jul 4 2022Rosario (eye) was activated from the injured list Monday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario appeared in eight games with Triple-A Gwinnett as part of a rehab assignment, and he is now ready to rejoin the big club. Rosario had a rough go of it at the plate early on, but Atlanta is hoping that the eye procedure he underwent several weeks back will help get him on the right path.
Jun 25 2022Rosario (eye) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario had his vision re-evaluated Thursday, and the exams apparently went well since he'll return to game action in the minors Saturday. The 30-year-old has been sidelined since late April and will presumably require several rehab games prior to rejoining the major-league club.
Jun 22 2022Rosario (eye) will have his vision re-evaluated Thursday and is optimistic that he's close to beginning a rehab assignment, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario has been on the injured list since late April due to blurred vision and swelling in his right retina, but he was cleared to resume hitting and throwing in early June. While the 30-year-old's status depends on Thursday's examination, he appears to be trending toward a return from the injured list in late June or early July.
Jun 5 2022Rosario (eye) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He has been hitting in the cage and throwing in Atlanta, which is a good sign since he was recently still trying to regain full vision. Rosario won't be eligible to return until late-June at the earliest.
Jun 4 2022Rosario (eye) has been hitting in the cage and throwing in Atlanta, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This is a pretty big step, as he was still trying to regain full vision in his right eye 10 days ago. Rosario is without a timetable for his return and will probably head out on a rehab assignment once he is fully cleared.
May 24 2022Rosario said Tuesday he has yet to regain complete sight in his right eye, which has thus far limited him to conditioning work and light exercises since he was placed on the injured list in late April, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario noted that he has a doctor's appointment scheduled for later this week, so he could be cleared to start up light baseball activities if the eye specialist gives him the green light to do so. After slashing a miserable .068/.163/.091 through his first 15 games of the season -- likely due in part to his vision issues -- Rosario underwent corrective surgery in late April to address the blurring and swelling of his right retina. He's now approximately one month into a recovery period that is expected to last anywhere from 8-to-12 weeks.
Apr 26 2022Rosario was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to blurred vision and swelling in his right retina. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario's vision issues may explain his poor start to the season, as he's hit just .068/.163/.091 through 15 games. He's expected to undergo surgery to correct the issue, a procedure which will keep him out for 8-to-12 weeks. Guillermo Heredia, Orlando Arcia, Travis Demeritte and Alex Dickerson could all see more time in the outfield corners in his absence.
Apr 25 2022Rosario is scheduled to undergo a laser procedure on his right eye within the next few days due to blurred vision. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: According to the Braves, Rosario has been experiencing blurred vision and swelling in his right eye, and this procedure will help to correct the issue. The team has yet to roll out a timeline for his return, but the Phillies are expected to make a roster move Tuesday, and Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution estimates the outfielder will miss 8-to-12 weeks. Marcell Ozuna and Alex Dickerson should be in line for even more work until Rosario returns.
Apr 24 2022Rosario is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario has a putrid .265 OPS through 12 games this season and will head to the bench for the second time in the past three games. Orlando Arcia will start in left field with left-hander Jesus Luzardo pitching for Miami.
Apr 22 2022Rosario isn't starting Friday against the Marlins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario went just 2-for-14 with a double, a run, two walks and a strikeout in his last five appearances, and he'll take a seat with left-hander Trevor Rogers starting for Miami. Orlando Arcia will start in left field and bat sixth.
Apr 18 2022Rosario isn't starting Monday's game against the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario has been an early-season slump, hitting just .034 with two runs, four walks and five strikeouts in his first nine appearances of the year. Orlando Arcia will start in left field and bat seventh.
Apr 15 2022Rosario isn't starting Friday's game against the Padres. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario has hit just .043 with two runs, three walks and five strikeouts to begin the year, and he'll retreat to the bench for the second time in the last four games. Orlando Arcia will start in left field and bat eighth.
Apr 12 2022Rosario is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lefty-hitting Rosario isn't a strict platoon player for Atlanta, but manager Brian Snitker will nonetheless give the 30-year-old his first day off of the season with southpaw Patrick Corbin toeing the rubber for the Nationals. Guillermo Heredia will pick up a start in the outfield in place of Rosario, who went 1-for-17 with three walks and two runs over Atlanta's first five games.
Mar 31 2022Rosario was scratched from Thursday's Grapefruit League lineup against the Rays due to a sore foot. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario's removal from the lineup was labeled as precautionary after he fouled a ball off his foot Wednesday, according to David O'Brien of The Athletic. Atlanta doesn't appear to be too concerned about Rosario's injury, so he should be considered day-to-day with a week remaining before Opening Day.
Mar 16 2022Rosario signed a two-year, $18 million contract with Atlanta on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario began the 2021 campaign in Cleveland but was dealt to Atlanta prior to the trade deadline. He appeared in 33 games for his new team after returning from an abdominal injury, and he slashed .271/.330/.573 with seven home runs, 16 RBI, 13 runs and two stolen bases to close out the regular season before being named the NLCS MVP during the postseason. The 30-year-old's contract contains a club option for the 2024 season, and he'll reclaim his starting job in left field to begin the 2022 campaign.
Oct 23 2021Rosario was named the NLCS MVP after going 2-for-4 with a walk and a three-run homer in Saturday's pennant-clinching win over the Dodgers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario was the hero yet again in Game 6, hitting a three-run shot off Walker Buehler in the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie. He had a remarkable series, hitting .560 with three homers and a 1.647 OPS across six games. He's now hitting .474/.524/.789 in the postseason after hitting a modest .259/.305/.435 in the regular season.
Oct 21 2021Rosario went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a triple, four RBI, three runs and a strikeout in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the Dodgers in Game 4 of the NLCS. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario extended his postseason hit streak to eight games in Wednesday's matchup, and he's now driven in runs in four of the last five contests. He came within a double of hitting for the cycle Wednesday and has slashed .467/.515/.733 with two homers, a triple, eight RBI, five runs and a stolen base across his eight playoff appearances.
Oct 12 2021Rosario went 1-for-3 with two RBI during the victory over the Brewers in Game 4 of the NLDS on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 30-year-old didn't start Tuesday with the hot-hitting Joc Pederson entering the lineup, but he still received three plate appearances off the bench. Rosario delivered a clutch two-run single as a pinch hitter with the bases loaded during the fourth inning to tie the score at 2-2, and he remained in the contest as part of a double switch. He went 4-for-13 with a walk and two RBI during the NLDS and should continue to see regular at-bats as Atlanta continues its postseason run.
Sep 23 2021Rosario will sit Thursday against the Diamondbacks. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario will hit the bench against lefty Madison Bumgarner. He's hit an excellent .295/.362/.689 with six homers and as many walks as strikeouts in 22 games since joining Atlanta, but that hasn't been enough to earn him a true everyday role, as he's only started twice against southpaws. Adam Duvall will be the left fielder Thursday, with Guillermo Heredia starting in center.
Sep 21 2021Rosario went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk Monday in Atlanta's 11-4 win over Arizona. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After facing only five pitches en route to hitting for the cycle in Sunday's win over the Giants, Rosario was able to stay hot Monday with a pair of hits, including his 13th home run of the season in the ninth inning. Rosario has submitted a 1.171 OPS in 20 games since returning from the injured list in late August, with his stellar start to his tenure with Atlanta allowing him to unseat Joc Pederson for an everyday role in the outfield.
Sep 19 2021Rosario went 4-for-4 with a solo home run, a triple, and a double in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario hit a solo homer off Zack Littell in the seventh inning, the latter of back-to-back home runs. He singled in the ninth inning to finish off the cycle. Rosario is the fourth person to bat for the cycle this season. Most impressively, he did it seeing only five total pitches in his four at-bats. The 29-year-old is slashing .320/.375/.740 with five home runs, 11 RBI and seven runs in 20 games with Atlanta this season.
Sep 18 2021Rosario is not in the lineup Saturday against the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario started the past four games and will take a seat after going 4-for-15 with two homers, two walks, four RBI and two runs in that span. Adam Duvall will shift to left field while Guillermo Heredia starts in center.
Sep 15 2021Rosario went 2-for-3 with a single, a home run and two RBI in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Rockies. He also drew a walk. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario was Atlanta's offense Wednesday, accounting for both runs that the club scored on the night. He first plated Austin Riley with an RBI single in the second before smacking a solo shot off Antonio Senzatela in the fifth. Since joining Atlanta from Cleveland, Rosario is hitting .256 with four home runs over 16 games.
Sep 8 2021Rosario went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Nationals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario squared the game at 2-2 when he took Washington reliever Austin Voth deep to right in the sixth inning. It was the ninth homer of the year for Rosario, who is just 3-for-15 over the past six games. The 29-year-old is hitting .256 with a .707 OPS and 10 stolen bases (13 attempts) across 336 plate appearances this season between Cleveland and Atlanta.
Aug 29 2021Rosario went 2-for-5 with a triple, a steal and two RBI in Sunday's 9-0 win over the Giants. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario swiped second base after singling in the third inning and later ripped a two-run triple in the sixth. He went 0-for-1 as a pinch-hitter Saturday in his first appearance with Atlanta but quickly made an impact in his first start after a stint on the injured list with an abdomen injury. The veteran outfielder is now slashing .257/.298/.396 with 24 extra-base hits through 312 plate appearances this season.
Aug 27 2021Rosario (abdomen) was reinstated from the injured list Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario was one of four outfielders Atlanta acquired in July, alongside Joc Pederson, Adam Duvall and Jorge Soler. Rosario and Pederson both bat left-handed while Duvall and Soler are both righties, so it's likely the former two find themselves in the lineup against most right-handed pitchers while sitting frequently against southpaws. Rosario wasn't particularly good before landing on the injured list in early July, however, hitting just .254/.296/.389, so it's possible he winds up on the bench against some righties as well.
Aug 10 2021Rosario (abdomen) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Acquired from Cleveland ahead of the trade deadline, Rosario has yet to make his Atlanta debut while he works back from the right abdominal strain that has kept him on the shelf since early July. Rosario will presumably remain with Gwinnett for a few games while he looks to get his timing back at the plate following the month-long shutdown. Once reinstated, Rosario will likely work as the top backup at either corner-outfield spot behind starters Adam Duvall and Jorge Soler.
Aug 4 2021Rosario (abdomen) has been taking batting practice the past couple days and is expected to begin a rehab assignment within the next week, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario was acquired by Atlanta ahead of Friday's trade deadline, and it appears his return from the injured list isn't too far off. The 29-year-old has been sidelined about a month and should only require a handful of games in the minors before being cleared to join the big-league club.
Jul 30 2021Rosario (abdomen) was sent to Atlanta from Cleveland along with cash considerations in exchange for Pablo Sandoval on Friday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario has been sidelined since early July with an abdominal strain, and he's expected to remain on the injured list for a couple more weeks, per Mark Bowman of MLB.com. Once healthy, the 29-year-old should take over left field from Abraham Almonte, though Atlanta could also acquire additional outfield help before Friday afternoon's trade deadline.
Jul 7 2021Rosario was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with an abdominal strain, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Terry Francona said Tuesday that Rosario was probably going to be placed on the IL after he aggravated the abdominal injury Monday, and now the move has been made official. Per Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal, president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti described the injury as "mild," so there's a chance Rosario is activated when the club returns from the All-Star break July 16. Outfielder Daniel Johnson was recalled in a corresponding roster move.
Jul 5 2021Manager Terry Francona said Rosario will "probably" be placed on the injured list after aggravating his right abdominal injury during Monday's loss at Tampa Bay, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario missed some time late last week after battling some abdominal tightness, but he rejoined the lineup Saturday after an MRI came back clean. The 29-year-old grounded out in his lone plate appearance Monday before being removed from the contest. If Rosario is placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, he'd be eligible to be activated for the first game out of the All-Star break in Oakland on July 16.
Jul 3 2021Rosario (abdomen) is batting cleanup as the designated hitter Saturday against the Astros. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario exited Thursday's game with abdominal tightness and sat out Friday, but he produced encouraging MRI results and returns to action Saturday. The outfielder has hit .243 with a homer and six RBI in his last 11 games.
Jul 2 2021Manager Terry Francona said that Rosario's MRI results looked okay after he exited Thursday's game against Houston with right abdominal tightness, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario isn't in the starting lineup Friday, but it sounds like he has a chance of avoiding a serious injury and potential IL stint. Francona said that the outfielder will be further evaluated Friday. He can remain considered day-to-day for the time being.
Jul 1 2021Rosario was sent for an MRI after exiting Thursday's game against the Astros with right abdominal tightness, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario experienced cramping in his abdominal area, and manager Terry Francona said Rosario was sent from the MRI as a precaution. There should be further clarity about Rosario's potential to return to the lineup once the results of the MRI are returned.
Jun 25 2021Rosario went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a stolen base and two total runs scored in Friday's 8-7 loss to Minnesota. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: In the first inning, the outfielder reached on an error and stole second base before scoring on a Bobby Bradley home run. Rosario then added a long ball of his own off reliever Griffin Jax in the fifth. With hits in 12 straight games (15-for-46), Rosario is beginning to heat up after a slow start to his Cleveland career. He's produced a .254/.300/.377 slash line, six home runs, 42 RBI, 26 runs scored and nine stolen bases across 282 plate appearances overall.
Jun 24 2021Rosario went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base Thursday against the Twins. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario broke a 1-1 deadlock with a two-run single off Minnesota reliever Taylor Rogers in the eighth inning. He also registered his eighth stolen base of the year in the sixth, leaving him three away from the career-high 11 he swiped as a rookie 2015. Rosario has yet to find his stroke in his first season with Cleveland, slashing just .254/.301/.367 with five home runs, but he does rank second on the team with 41 RBI in 69 games.
Jun 17 2021Rosario went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Thursday against Baltimore. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario took Jorge Lopez yard in the third inning to slug his fifth home run of the season. Though it was his first long ball since May 27, Rosario has recorded at least one hit in eight of his last nine starts. In that span, he's collected nine RBI and scored two runs. Overall, Rosario is hitting .249/.295/.369 across 253 plate appearances on the campaign.
Jun 13 2021Rosario went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Sunday's 6-2 loss to Seattle. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Cleveland wasn't able to put much offense together Sunday, as Rosario and Harold Ramirez were the only two batters to get on base multiple times. Rosario has picked up multiple hits in three of nine games in June. He's slashing .244/.295/.350 with four home runs, 34 RBI, 20 runs scored and seven stolen bases through 236 plate appearances.
Jun 8 2021Rosario went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 10-1 win over the Cardinals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario singled three times in the game Tuesday for his second three-hit game in his last three contests. He knocked in a pair of runs in the ninth inning. In the fifth frame, he stole second for his team-leading seventh steal of the season. The 29-year-old is slashing .244/.295/.353 with four homers, 32 RBI and 19 runs in 219 plate appearances.
Jun 5 2021Rosario went 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Saturday's 10-4 win over the Orioles. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The three hits were a season high for Rosario, who's coming around after a tough beginning to his first campaign in Cleveland. Over his last 14 games, the 29-year-old is batting .333 (17-for-51), but only three of those hits went for extra bases (two doubles and a homer) and he has just four runs and nine RBI.
May 31 2021Rosario isn't starting Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader against the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario started both games in Sunday's doubleheader and went 0-for-5 with a stolen base, a walk and a strikeout. Harold Ramirez will start in left field and bat fourth in Monday's matinee.
May 30 2021Rosario went 0-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base in a 6-5 win over Toronto in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario entered Sunday's doubleheader on an eight-game hitting streak, but he went 0-for-5 across the doubleheader. He's still slashing only .230/.285/.348 with four home runs, 29 RBI, 17 runs scored and six stolen bases in 49 games this year despite the recent hot stretch.
May 27 2021Rosario went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, a double and one walk Thursday against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario's strong day at the plate was highlighted by a two-run home run in the sixth inning, his fourth long ball of the season. He added an RBI double in the ninth frame. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The outfielder is hitting a paltry .211 with one home run, 10 RBI and five runs scored in May after a solid April. He's lost some playing time against southpaws due to the skid, but he's been better over the last week. Rosario sports a weak .592 OPS with three homers, 24 RBI, 15 runs scored and five stolen bases in 174 plate appearances this year. With a BABIP of .252, he's been a bit unlucky; though he posted a .248 BABIP last year, his career figure sits at .302.
May 6 2021Rosario will sit Thursday against the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario could be slipping into a platoon role, as he's now been on the bench against the last two lefties Cleveland has faced, including Thursday's starter Danny Duffy. Rosario's .240/.286/.385 line hardly suggests he deserves everyday at-bats, though he does have five hits and five RBI over his last three games. Jordan Luplow starts in left field in his absence.
May 4 2021Rosario is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario is hitting .237 with one home run and one steal over his last 10 games. Jordan Luplow will start in left field and bat second while Josh Naylor starts in right.
May 3 2021Rosario went 1-for-2 with a walk and a three-run home run in Monday's 8-6 win over the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: His seventh-inning blast off Jakob Junis gave Rosario his first homer in 18 games. The 29-year-old outfielder has had an unusual start to his first campaign with Cleveland, hitting .230 with only three home runs through 27 contests, but he has a solid 12 runs and 17 RBI and his five steals is already his highest total since 2018.

Through nine games in 2021, Rosario is batting .226 with two home runs, a stolen base, four walks and six strikeouts.
Apr 11 2021Rosario went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario contributed across the board in this one and snapped a drought of just one hit over his last 16 at-bats. This was his first multi-hit game of the season, as well as the first time he racked up a double and the first time he stole a base. It was definitively a productive all-around performance for the outfielder, who's still hitting just .222 with a .683 OPS to begin the year.

He'll remain in the AL Central and will likely take over as the primary left fielder for his new club. The 29-year-old spent the first six seasons of his career in Minnesota and appeared in 57 games during the 2020 season, slashing .257/.316/.476 with 13 home runs and 42 RBI during that time.
Dec 2 2020Rosario was non-tendered by the Twins on Wednesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The move is hardly a surprise after the team placed the 29-year-old on outright waivers Tuesday, which he cleared, and he'll now be hitting the open market. Rosario struggled in the field last season and also saw his OPS dip to .792, his lowest mark since 2016.
Dec 1 2020Rosario was placed on outright waivers Tuesday by the Twins and is available to be claimed by any team until 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Minnesota has been exploring the trade market for the 29-year-old but have been unable to find any suitors given his projected arbitration salary of $9.6 million, per Rosenthal. If no teams bite on the waiver wire, Rosario could be non-tendered by the Twins ahead of Wednesday's roster deadline. Sep 16 2020Rosario went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario opened the scoring with a leadoff solo shot in the second inning, his 11th homer of the season. He also drew a walk in the fourth and scored on a Byron Buxton blast. The 28-year-old Rosario has three homers, eight RBI and four runs scored in his last nine games. He's slashing .251/.318/.474 with 33 RBI, 27 runs scored and two stolen bases in 48 contests overall.
Sep 15 2020Rosario (elbow) is starting Tuesday against the White Sox. Prior to the injury, Rosario went 10-for-27 with two home runs and seven RBI over the past seven games.
Sep 14 2020Rosario (elbow) is not starting Monday against the White Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario bruised his elbow Sunday against Cleveland and will sit for at least one day. The injury doesn't sound too serious, as he could have a chance to be available off the bench Monday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Jake Cave will start in left field Monday.
Sep 13 2020Rosario suffered a left elbow contusion in Sunday's win against Cleveland, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario was replaced defensively in the top of the ninth inning, and manager Rocco Baldelli revealed after the contest that he's dealing with an elbow issue. However, Baldelli said that the injury doesn't appear to be serious, and Rosario is currently considered day-to-day.
Sep 12 2020Rosario went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer against Cleveland on Saturday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario took Nick Wittgren yard in the eighth inning, recording his 10th long ball of the season. He now has three home runs and nine RBI over his last nine games. Overall, Rosario is hitting .255/.317/.473 across 180 plate appearances.
Sep 7 2020Rosario went 2-for-3 with a three-run double in Monday's 6-2 win over Detroit. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario's double in the third inning cleared the bases to give extend the Twins' lead to 4-0. It bumped the outfielder's RBI count to 30 on the campaign. He will take a slash line of .247/.311/.460 into the series Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.
Sep 6 2020Rosario went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and one run scored Sunday against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario took Kyle Funkhouser deep in the eighth inning to record his ninth homer of the season. It was his second long ball in his last four games, and has now recorded at least one hit four of his last five starts. Overall, Rosario has a .240/.306/.452 line while also racking up 24 runs scored and 27 RBI across 160 plate appearances.
Sep 4 2020Rosario will sit for the afternoon portion of Friday's doubleheader against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Twins are giving a handful of regulars a rest for the first game of the day, though Rosario is likely to return to the lineup for the nightcap. Brent Rooker makes his big-league debut in left field in his absence.
Sep 2 2020Rosario went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over the White Sox. It was his eighth long ball of the season while batting .239/.306/.448 with 25 RBI.
Aug 31 2020Rosario (ankle) returns to the lineup Monday against the White Sox, batting cleanup and playing left field. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario sat Sunday due to ankle soreness, an issue which forced him to leave the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers early. The injury evidently wasn't a major one, however, as he's back following just a one-game absence.
Aug 30 2020Rosario (ankle) is not in the lineup Sunday against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old battled ankle soreness during Saturday's doubleheader, and he'll remain on the bench for the series finale. Rosario started the previous 13 games, so it's a good time for a day off. LaMonte Wade will take over in left field Sunday for the Twins.
Aug 29 2020Rosario was lifted for a pinch runner due to a sore ankle in the seventh inning during Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's unclear when exactly the ankle soreness first surfaced, but the 28-year-old played in the field all 14 innings Saturday before he was pulled during the bottom of the seventh. It doesn't appear to be a serious injury, and Rosario should be considered day-to-day.
Aug 23 2020Rosario went 3-for-5 with three singles and an RBI in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The outfielder now has seven hits in his last 18 at-bats, increasing his batting average to .248 on the year. Rosario hit north of .260 in each of his first five MLB seasons, so it comes as no surprise that he's hitting at a higher clip of late.
Aug 15 2020Rosario isn't in the lineup for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Royals. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario went 1-for-3 with a double, one RBI and one strikeout in the first portion of the twin bill. However, Jake Cave will take over as the left fielder and bat eighth in Game 2.

Rosario is up to six homers and 16 RBI on the year, including three blasts in the last two days and four in the last six games, but the 28-year-old slugger only has one other hit (a single) during that stretch, leaving him with a lopsided .226/.304/.548 slash line.
Aug 10 2020Rosario went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Monday's 4-2 win over the Brewers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario's third-inning grand slam was really the only offense the Twins could produce but it was enough to snag the win. The 28-year-old outfielder has four long balls and 13 RBI alongside a .753 OPS this season.
Aug 6 2020Rosario went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and two runs scored Thursday against the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario was productive throughout the contest, as he reached base on a walk and ultimately came around to score during his first plate appearance. The highlight came in the fifth frame, when he took Cody Ponce deep for a solo home run to put the Twins up 5-3. It was his third home run of the season, and added to a strong stretch at the plate during which he has recorded at least one hit in four of his last six starts. In addition to the power, Rosario has also made consistent contact at the plate, striking out just five times in his first 49 plate appearances this season.
Aug 4 2020Rosario went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI during Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Pirates. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old hit the bench for the first time this season for Monday's contest, and he made a productive return to the lineup Tuesday. Rosario has a .250/.325/.472 slash line with two homers, seven runs, and eight RBI in 40 plate appearances this season.
Aug 3 2020Rosario is out of the lineup Monday against Pittsburgh. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario and shortstop Jorge Polanco will be on the bench for the first time this season in Monday's contest. Jake Cave will in left field in Rosario's absence. While Monday's rest comes against southpaw Derek Holland, Rosario was in the lineup against the only other lefty the Twins have faced this season, so this day off doesn't seem to indicate that he's slipping into a platoon role.
Aug 1 2020Rosario went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 3-0 win over Cleveland. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: All three Minnesota runs came on solo shots, and Rosario's fourth-inning blast was sandwiched between two Miguel Sano long balls in the third and fifth. Rosario is hitting .241 (7-for-29) with two homers and six RBI through eight games.
Jul 29 2020Rosario went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over St. Louis on Wednesday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario's second extra-base hit of the season was a 398-foot solo shot to right field in the fourth inning. The 28-year-old has collected a hit in four of his first five games and appears to be fully healthy after being hampered by an ankle injury during the second half of last season.
Jul 22 2020Rosario hit sixth in the lineup, started in left field and went 2-for-3 in Wednesday's exhibition game against the Cubs. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario underwent physical therapy on his left ankle in the offseason, but was healthy during spring training and looks set for the start of the 60-game regular season. Rosario had 20 home runs and an .841 OPS in the first half of last season, but just 12 home runs and a .750 OPS in the second half.
Mar 3 2020Rosario underwent physical therapy on his left ankle in the offseason, MLB.com reports. Rosario said his second-half decline last season was in part due to the injury, but he's pain free this spring. "I couldn't play my 100 percent. I couldn't run at 100 percent last year. It affected everything," he said. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario had 20 home runs and an .841 OPS in the first half of last season, but just 12 home runs and a .750 OPS in the second half. Rosario has also said he needs to show more patience at the plate, which would help his approach as his anemic walk rate took a step back to just 3.7 percent. He's set to start in left field and try to improve on a career-high 32 home runs last year.
Jan 10 2020Rosario signed a one-year contract with Minnesota on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario slashed .276/.300/.500 with 32 home runs and 109 RBI over 137 games a season ago. He'll slot in near the heart of the order in 2020 for the Twins as the starting left fielder.

Sep 25 2019Rosario went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Wednesday against the Tigers. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario took John Schreiber deep in the seventh inning to record his 32nd home run of the season. He's been particularly productive in his last three games, smacking four doubles and a home run while also driving in seven runs and scoring twice. Overall, Rosario has put together another strong season at the dish, racking up a .278 average and .505 slugging percentage across 135 games.
Sep 16 2019Rosario went 3-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs in a 7-5 loss against the Indians on Sunday. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He wasn't able to come through in the ninth inning with two outs, but Rosario went 4-for-8 with three homers and four RBI in the final two games of the three-game set against the Indians over the weekend. Rosario is now three runs away from career bests in the homers, RBI and runs categories. He is batting .275 with 31 home runs, 99 RBI, 85 runs and three steals this season.
Sep 4 2019Rosario went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run Wednesday against the Red Sox. ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rosario took Ryan Brasier deep in the eighth inning to record his 28th homer, setting a new career-best mark. Despite improved power this season, Rosario hadn't gone yard since Aug. 15, recording has just one other extra-base hit in that span. Even considering that slump, Rosario is hitting .283 and slugging .505 across 501 plate appearances for the campaign.

Jul 16 2018Rosario went 3-for-5 with a walk, two runs and two RBI in Sunday's 11-7 win over the Rays.Rosario enters the All-Star break on an eight-game hitting streak and was a thorn in Tampa Bay's side through the series, registering at least two hits in all four contests. After a breakout 2017 campaign, Rosario has taken his game to even greater heights in 2018 to become one of the more well-rounded fantasy contributors in the league. He wrapped up the first half with a .311 average, 19 home runs, 60 RBI, 64 runs and six steals.
Jul 14 2018Rosario went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored Saturday in the Twins' 19-6 loss to the Rays.In recording his third straight multi-hit game, Rosario doubled and singled twice to bump his slash line up to .307/.348/.536, which complements the 19 home runs, 58 RBI, 62 runs scored and six stolen bases. That five-category utility has made Rosario one of the most profitable middle-rounds picks of 2018.
Jul 12 2018Rosario went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run Thursday against the Rays.Rosario drove a slider from Chih-Wei Hu over the right field wall in the seventh inning to record his 19th home run of the season. It was his first longball and extra-base hit since June 30, with the drought causing his slugging percentage to drop from .570 to .535. That shouldn't take the shine off his strong first-half performance, however, as he is on track to improve on his 2017 breakout campaign.
Jul 1 2018Rosario (heat-related illness) will start in left field and bat second Sunday against the Cubs, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.Rosario was one of several players on both teams who were affected by the extreme heat in Chicago on Saturday, as he exited in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jun 30 2018Rosario exited Saturday's game against the Cubs with heat illness, Dan Hayes of The Athletic Minnesota reports.Rosario was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run prior to leaving in the bottom of the fifth inning, but temperatures in the 90s and a heat index well over 100 appeared to be clearly affecting him on the field. The 26-year-old should be considered day-to-day, but hopefully his early removal Saturday will allow a quick return to the lineup.
Jun 23 2018Rosario went 2-for-5 with a homer and four RBI in Saturday's loss to the Rangers.Rosario opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the first inning off Yovani Gallardo. He knocked in the final two runs of the game with a two-run double off Keone Kela in the ninth. The outfielder is following up his breakout 2017 campaign with an even better one this season, hitting an impressive .317/.355/.582 with 17 homers.
Jun 22 2018Rosario (shoulder) is starting in left field and batting second against the Rangers on Friday.Rosario was scratched from Thursday's lineup due to right shoulder discomfort but was said to be available off the bench. The 26-year-old's return to the lineup Friday confirms it to be a minor issue, and is all set to go for the matchup against Mike Minor and the Rangers.
Jun 21 2018Rosario was scratched from Thursday's lineup due to right shoulder discomfort, Brandon Warne of Zone Coverage reports.Manager Paul Molitor said that Rosario will likely be available off the bench but he didn't want to risk further injury to the shoulder by subjecting him to any throws during Thursday's contest. In his place, Ryan LaMarre will join the starting nine in center field. Consider Rosario day-to-day going into Friday's series opener versus the Rangers.
Jun 16 2018Rosario went 4-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, four runs scored and two RBI in Saturday's 9-3 win over Cleveland. It's his second homer in as many days and 16th of the season, continuing Rosario's absolutely en fuego June -- he's got seven multi-hit performances in 15 games, going 22-for-58 (.379) with seven home runs, five doubles, 13 RBI and 18 runs. The 26-year-old now sports a .323/.362/.586 slash line on the year as he makes his case for a spot in the All-Star Game.
Jun 16 2018Rosario went 2-for-4 with his 15th home run in Friday's win over Cleveland.Rosario continues to stay hot as he's hitting .355 with two home runs in his last eight games and is hitting .333 with six home runs in June. He also has seven walks and six strikeouts this month, which is an amazing feat for the free swinger (just 6.1 percent walk rate last year).
Jun 7 2018Rosario went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, three RBI and a pair of runs in Thursday's 7-2 victory over the White Sox.Rosario is already up to five long balls in the month of June and 14 for the season. After a slow start, the left fielder is now slashing .312/.351/.568 with 43 RBI on the year, placing him among AL leaders. Minnesota is slated to face two right-handed pitchers during this weekend's series against the Angels, so Rosario has a good chance at keeping his hot streak pumping.
Jun 4 2018Rosario went 3-for-5 with three home runs, including a walk-off home run in the ninth inning, in Sunday's win over Cleveland.Rosario has been on fire as he's hitting .447 with four home runs over his last nine games and he's hitting .378 (48-for-127). since May 1. He's hit several of his home runs on balls far outside the strike zone as he's seemingly hitting balls at will. While he's a free swinger, he's lowered his strikeout rate since May 1 to 14 percent (from 18 percent last year).
Jun 2 2018Rosario went 1-for-2 with two walks and a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-1 win over Cleveland. The homer was his 10th of the season and first since May 11, but Rosario has hardly been quiet in the meantime -- he's got an eight-game hitting streak going, and put together a .342/.390/.408 slash line in 19 games between long balls.
May 31 2018Rosario went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI in the Twins' 9-8 loss to the Indians on Thursday.Rosario put up another multi-hit effort to wrap up a blistering month of May that saw him slash .366/.388/.625 over 112 at-bats. While he hasn't left the yard in 18 games after hitting six long balls in first 10 games of the month, Rosario is now hitting .308, and he's shown a propensity for hitting homers in bunches in the past, so his power stroke could return shortly. Overall, he looks primed to build on his solid campaign of last season that saw him post an .835 OPS.
May 23 2018Rosario went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Tigers.Rosario's run-scoring single in the first inning was all the offense Minnesota would get on the day, as they got shut out over the final eight frames. The 26-year-old came out of the gates a bit rusty, but he's turned it around in May with a .346/.361/.679 slash line and six home runs in the month.
May 14 2018Rosario is not in the lineup Monday against the Mariners, Brandon Warne of The Athletic Minnesota reports.Rosario will head to the bench for a well deserved day off after starting the past 16 games and slashing .362/.380/.768 with seven homers over that stretch. Robbie Grossman will start in left field and hit seventh in his stead.
May 11 2018Rosario went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs to help the Twins to a 5-4 victory over the Angels on Friday.Rosario got off to a slow start to the season but he's been able to put that behind him with a May hot streak that has boosted his OPS to .887 through 135 at-bats. He hasn't been particularly disciplined at the plate with just four walks against his 26 strikeouts but his recent surge in power has more than offset any potential negative effects from that and his .835 OPS from last season suggests he's figured out how to produce consistently despite a free-swinging approach and low walk rate.
May 8 2018Rosario was 2-for-5 with three runs scored in Tuesdays 7-1 victory over the Cardinals.Rosario continued his stellar start to May and is now 16-for-36 with six doubles and four home runs. The 26-year-old has not drawn a walk in that stretch and has only four on the season in 132 plate appearances, but has found his groove at the plate after struggling through much of the first month of the season.
May 6 2018Rosario went 4-for-5 with a homer, a double and five RBI in Saturday's win over the White Sox.The 26-year-old continued his hot start May on Saturday, adding his third multi-hit effort -- which included a two-run double and a two-run homer -- in what was just his fifth game this month. Rosario is now 10-for-22 with three homers, 10 RBI and a stolen base over that stretch. His hot start to the month helped raise his average from .231 to .274, while his OPS jumped from .659 to .821.
May 2 2018Rosario went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a steal in Wednesday's win over the Blue Jays.It was his second straight multi-hit game and second in a row with a home run. The average is slowly starting to creep back up after a rough start and now sits at .253 -- though still a far cry from last year's career-best .290. Following last season's 27-home run, 78-RBI campaign, Rosario has five and 16 in those departments, respectively, and could be starting to heat up now with the calendar flipped to May.
May 2 2018Rosario went 2-for-4 with a homer, a double and three RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Blue Jays.Rosario laced an RBI double off Marco Estrada in the first, and later got Estrada again with a two-run homer in the sixth. Rosario now has four home runs and 15 RBI on the year, and the two-hit night brings his batting average to .242. He's well below his .290 average from last year, and the 22-percent strikeout rate hurts his cause (his strikeout rate in 2017 was 18-percent). There's still a lot of season left for Rosario to get it going.
Apr 27 2018Rosario went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, two runs and two RBI in Minnesota's 15-9 loss to the Reds on Friday.Rosario was hitting just .216 coming into this contest and his slash line still sits at an underwhelming .228/.256/.418 despite launching his third homer of the season. He's coming off a very respectable 2017 that saw him log an .835 OPS with 27 home runs, so hopefully this multi-hit effort is a sign of a hot streak that will see him start to climb back up toward that number.
Apr 26 2018Rosario is not in the lineup against the Yankees on Thursday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.Rosario will head to the bench as the Twins face off against left-hander Jordan Montgomery for the series finale in New York. In his place, Robbie Grossman will start in left field and bat seventh. Expect Rosario back in the lineup against the Reds on Friday.
Apr 20 2018Rosario went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Friday's extra-inning loss to the Rays. The eighth-inning blast was Rosario's second homer of the season and tied the game at 6-6, setting the stage for a wild finish in the eventual 8-7 loss in 10 innings. The 26-year-old had a sluggish start to the season but he's now hit safely in five straight games, pulling his slash line up to .226/.268/.415.
Apr 10 2018Rosario will take a seat against southpaw Dallas Keuchel and the Astros on Tuesday. The Twins have only faced two lefties so far this year, and Rosario has sat against both. The 26-year-old is off to a slow start, hitting .200/.250/.333, though that seems primarily BABIP-related, as his strikeout (18.8 percent) and walk (6.3 percent) rates are in line with last year's numbers while his BABIP has plunged 95 points, from .312 to .217. He also has a home run and a pair of steals. Ryan LaMarre will handle left field in his place.
Apr 7 2018Rosario went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 11-4 loss to the Mariners. The steal was his second of the season, while the multi-hit performance was his first. Rosario is still only 6-for-26 through seven games, but as the weather warms up his numbers should creep closer to the career-high .835 OPS he posted in 2017.
Apr 5 2018Rosario went 1-for-2 with one strikeout, one home run, one run scored and one RBI Thursday against the Mariners.Rosario started the game on the bench after going just 3-for-20 to start the season. However, he replaced Ryan LaMarre in the sixth inning and made the most of his two at-bats, getting a hold of his first home run of the season. Entering the game with one stolen base being his only fantasy contribution, this home run could jump start Rosario's production as he comes off an impressive 27 home run campaign in 2017.
Apr 5 2018Rosario is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.Rosario will take a seat with left-hander James Paxton on the mound for Seattle. In his place, Ryan LaMarre will get the nod in left field while batting seventh.
Apr 5 2018Rosario went 1-for-2 with a homer Thursday against the Mariners.Rosario started the game on the bench after going just 3-for-20 to start the season. However, he replaced Ryan LaMarre in the sixth inning and made the most of his two at-bats, getting a hold of his first home run of the season. Rosario was slowed by a triceps injury this spring, which may be partially to blame for his slow start at the plate following an impressive 27-homer campaign last season.
Apr 3 2018Rosario has gone 3-for-16 with a stolen base through the Twins' first four games.Rosario has been deployed in the cleanup spot in all four contests, but his lack of timely hitting has resulted in no RBI to date. While it doesn't appear manager Paul Molitor plans to move Rosario down in the order just yet, it's worth noting that the outfielder displayed a cold bat in spring training as well, hitting just .171 with a 1:11 BB:K in 12 games. It may be prudent for fantasy owners to keep Rosario on their bench until he shows signs of heating up.
Mar 16 2018Rosario (triceps) started at DH and went 0-for-3 in Thursday's spring training game.Rosario still doesn't know when he will be able to take the field but remains optimistic that he will get back to full health prior to Opening Day. The outfielder has been dealing with mild tendinitis in his right triceps for the past 10 days and hadn't tossed the ball around at all until Wednesday.
Mar 14 2018Rosario (triceps) was able to play catch Wednesday and expects slide into the Twins' lineup Thursday and Friday as the designated hitter, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.Rosario still doesn't know when he will be able to take the field but remains optimistic that he will get back to full health prior to Opening Day. The outfielder has been dealing with mild tendinitis in his right triceps for the past 10 days and hadn't tossed the ball around at all until Wednesday's throwing program commenced. There should be a better gauge of his return to left field after a couple more days of throwing.
Mar 13 2018Rosario (triceps) is scheduled to resume a throwing program Wednesday, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.Rosario has been sidelined since March 4 with tendinitis in his right triceps. He was cleared to resume throwing last week, but persistent symptoms prompted the team to shut him down shortly thereafter. Rosario now appears to be symptom-free, and barring any setbacks once he picks up his throwing program, the hope is that he'll return to game action as the team's designated hitter Friday. The Twins don't seem worried about his status for Opening Day at this point, though this will certainly be a situation to monitor as he continues to ramp up his activity in the coming weeks.
Mar 12 2018Rosario is still dealing with tendinitis in his right triceps, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.Rosario has been sidelined since March 4 with the issue, with general manager Thad Levine acknowledging the outfielder's recovery has moved slower than initially anticipated. The Minnesota training staff cleared Rosario to resume throwing Friday, but ended up shutting the 26-year-old back down when the tendinitis symptoms were still present. The Twins aren't yet fearful that Rosario will miss Opening Day, but he'll need to get back on the field in short order to give the team some peace of mind.
Mar 9 2018Rosario's triceps is feeling better Friday and he is cleared for all baseball activity, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.Rosario has been dealing with mild tendinitis in his right triceps for the past few days. It's unclear when he'll return to the lineup, but with him already being cleared to resume baseball activities, he should have enough time to be ready to go by Opening Day.
Mar 7 2018Rosario is dealing with mild tendinitis in his right triceps, which will prevent him from throwing for the time being, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.Per LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Rosario is out of the Twins' Grapefruit League lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox, but that doesn't necessarily mean the 26-year-old won't be able to serve as a designated hitter in the coming days since his arm injury doesn't sound like anything that affects him at the plate. Given that the Twins are labeling the tendinitis as mild, it likely won't be long before Rosario is cleared for full activity. Unless the team suggests otherwise, expect Rosario to be at full strength by the time Opening Day arrives, if not well before then.
Sep 28 2017Rosario is out of the lineup against Cleveland on Thursday, MLBpressbox.com reports.Rosario will spend Thursday's series finale on the bench while Mitch Garver picks up a start in left field. With the Twins' playoff spot secured, the 26-year-old is getting his first day off since Sept. 6. During that span, Rosario's gone 24-for-76 (.316 average) with seven home runs and 18 RBI.
Sep 26 2017Rosario went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a homer and three RBI against the Indians on Tuesday.Rosario has had one of the more under-the-radar breakouts in the game, as he's now hitting .292 with 27 homers -- numbers we never thought he had in him. It's good that his power's come along, as Rosario hasn't had much success as a base stealer (9-for-17). The 25-year-old outfielder has made significant improvements in his approach, shaving nearly eight points off his strikeout rate while increasing his walk rate noticeably, so this season has been no fluke.
Sep 16 2017Rosario went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during Saturday's loss to Toronto. The outfielder has caught fire of late with four homers and 10 RBI through his past eight games. The heater has Rosario up to a .292/.330/.508 slash line with 24 round trippers, 70 RBI and 71 runs for the campaign. Those numbers move the fantasy needle in most settings, and Rosario projects to remain productive hitting in the middle of the Minnesota lineup.
Sep 13 2017Rosario went 2-for-4 with a walk-off home run in Wednesday's win over the Padres. It was his first career walk-off hit.Rosario continues to stay hot as he's hit 11 home runs with a .302 batting average and .928 OPS since Aug. 6. He's even been hotter at home with as he's batting .466 (41-for-88) in his last 22 home games.
Sep 12 2017Rosario went 2-for-5 with two runs, a homer and two RBI during Tuesday's 16-0 win over the Padres.Rosario accounted for two of the 16 runs that the Twins plated in Tuesday's thrashing of the Padres. The 25-year-old has now put together multi-hit performances in three of his last four contests after getting off to a sluggish 2-for-18 start during the month of September. Rosario has been a useful fantasy asset this season, as he currently boasts a .290 average with 22 home runs and 67 RBI, all of which are career highs.
Sep 6 2017Rosario is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Rays, LaVelle E. Neal of the Star Tribune reports.Rosario will retreat to the bench following 21 straight starts as manager Paul Molitor stacks the lineup with right-handed hitters against left-hander Blake Snell. Ehire Adrianza draws the assignment in left field, while batting ninth.
Aug 30 2017Rosario went 2-for-5 with a pair of homers and three RBI against the White Sox on Wednesday. He's now reached 20 homers for the first time in his three MLB seasons, and Rosario's done so alongside a .292 batting average, which should endear him to fantasy owners. It'd be even higher if not for the eight-game skid (.129/.200/.226 over 31 at-bats) that this performance brought to an end. Although he isn't a great source of RBI or runs, Rosario's development has been impressive, and he'll be worth serious consideration in next season's drafts.
Aug 20 2017Rosario went 2-for-4 with a grand slam during Sunday's win over Arizona.Rosario now sports a 10-game hitting streak with three homers, 10 RBI and nine runs, and he entered Sunday's game with a 1.092 OPS in August and a .999 mark in the second half. The 25-year-old outfielder is having his best stretch of the season, and he's locked into the heart of the Minnesota lineup. Rosario is in position to continue providing solid fantasy numbers through the end of the season.
Aug 12 2017Rosario went 2-for-5 with a double and a two-run homer Saturday against the Tigers.Rosario launched his 16th bomb of the campaign as part of a five-run third inning. He's now homered in back-to-back contests, he's launched six home runs over his last seven games, and he's slugging over .700 this month. Ride him while he's hot.
Aug 11 2017Rosario went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and a steal Friday against the Tigers.Rosario launched his 15 bomb of the season to erase a 1-0 deficit in the fourth inning of a road win. Although he's been a solid hitter all year, he's been hot lately, as he's left the yard four times over his last six games to raise his slugging percentage to .493.
Aug 9 2017Rosario went 3-for-4 with two home runs in Tuesday's win over Milwaukee. He's hitting .364 (8-for-22) with three home runs and six RBI in his last six games.Rosario has been a streaky hitter during his career so he could keep this going awhile. It will likely keep him in left field when the Twins play at a NL park against the Brewers the next two games. He's frequently been benched in those situations in favor of Robbie Grossman or another DH.
Aug 6 2017Rosario went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's win over Texas.Rosario is turning in a serviceable fantasy campaign for deeper settings with 12 homers, 37 RBI, 43 runs and a .284/.324/.463 slash line. He's receiving consistent playing time and has been hitting closer to the heart of the lineup of late, which should help buoy his value moving forward.
Aug 1 2017Rosario is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Padres, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.Rosarios is just 2-for-16 (.125) over his last four games, so he'll get the day off as Zack Granite fills in for him in left field. Granite has been red hot lately filling in for the injured Byron Buxton, but with Buxton back from the DL, it's possible that Rosario will occasionally give way to Granite moving forward.
Jul 24 2017Rosario went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Dodgers.Rosario was the star of the show for Minnesota offensively, producing RBI doubles in the fourth and seventh innings to go with a solo homer in the sixth. Already in his third major league season at age 25, Rosario is slashing career highs across the board at .296/.333/.484. He's showing no signs of slowing down with seven extra-base hits in the past six games.
Jul 17 2017Rosario went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI in Monday's 4-2 win over the Yankees.Rosario hit a low breaking ball into the right-center gap to drive in Kennys Vargas from first base for the game's first run in the second inning, then drove another RBI double down the first-base line in the eighth. The 25-year-old outfielder has churned out a .289/.326/.463 line in 85 games.
Jul 14 2017Rosario is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Astros, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. He will give way to Zack Granite in left field to begin the second half despite a 13-for-36 start to July. It should just be a one-off absence for Rosario assuming there isn't an injury that's yet to come to light.
Jul 1 2017Rosario went 5-for-5 with a stolen base in Saturday's win over the Royals in the second game of a doubleheader. He did not play in the first game of the double header. Rosario had a strong June by hitting .291 with a .860 OPS and looks to be continuing that trend in July.
Jul 1 2017Rosario is out of the lineup for game one of Saturday's doubleheader against Kansas City, Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports.Rosario will take a seat following an 0-for-4 game during Friday's series opener. With a twin-bill set for Saturday, Rosario will likely return to the field for the night game against right-hander Jason Hammel. In his place, Robbie Grossman is starting in right while Kennys Vargas will DH for game one.
Jun 29 2017Rosario is not in Thursday's lineup, Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports. With left-hander David Price on the mound for the Red Sox, Rosario will retreat to the bench to take his first day off since Saturday, which he missed due to an illness. He will likely be back in the lineup for Friday's series opener with the Royals, but will be replaced by Robbie Grossman in left field for Thursday's affair.
Jun 25 2017Rosario went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and three runs scored during Sunday's win over Cleveland.Rosario was a late scratch Saturday because of an illness, so it was encouraging to see him return to the lineup and post a big game. He's having a respectable fantasy season with a .280/.318/.471 slash line, 10 homers, 24 RBI and 33 runs. Those numbers move the needle in deeper settings.
Jun 25 2017Rosario (illness) is back in the lineup Sunday, playing left field and batting seventh, LaVelle E. Neal of the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.Rosario took a seat for Saturday's game with flu-like symptoms, but came in to left field during the bottom of the eighth inning for defensive purposes. The 25-year-old should be good to go and at full health heading into the series finale.
Jun 24 2017Rosario was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to an illness, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.Rosario was being monitored during the team's batting practice and it appears he failed the inspection. With Max Kepler (foot) and Miguel Sano (illness) both unavailable Saturday, the Twins are forced to trot Chris Gimenez out to left field, batting seventh.
Jun 22 2017Rosario is not in the Twins' lineup against the White Sox on Thursday, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. He was hitting .341 over 14 games before sitting on Wednesday, and the Twins will continue his rest as they face a left-handed arm for the second straight day, this time in Jose Quintana. Robbie Grossman will take Rosario's place, but expect the latter to return to the lineup Friday as Minnesota is slated to face Indians right-hander Trevor Bauer.
Jun 21 2017Rosario is not in the lineup Wednesday against the White Sox, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.Rosario has been heating up at the plate, as he's batting .341 over the past 14 games and currently holds a six-game hit streak. He'll receive a breather after eight consecutive starts Wednesday, however. Robbie Grossman will man left field in his stead, with Miguel Sano taking a turn as the designated hitter and Eduardo Escobar slotting in at third to round off the lineup.
Jun 17 2017Rosario went 1-for-2 with his ninth home run in Friday's loss to Cleveland.Rosario continues to stay hot as he's hitting .368 with four home runs over his last five games. Rosario was on the bench in four of seven games in early June, but his hot streak has pushed him back into the regular lineup.
Jun 13 2017Rosario went 4-for-5 with three home runs in Tuesday's 20-7 blowout win over Seattle. It was the seventh three-homer game in Twins history, and first since Brian Dozier hit three on September 5, 2016. Rosario's playing time had been declining as he played in just three of the previous seven games. His big night Tuesday will likely get him back in the lineup more frequently.
Jun 12 2017Rosario is not in the lineup Monday against the Mariners, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports. This is a bit curious given that right-hander Yovani Gallardo is toeing the rubber for Seattle, although Rosario is batting just .198 over the past 30 games. He'll be replaced in left field by Robbie Grossman with Kennys Vargas slotting in as the designated hitter to round out the lineup, which could be an alignment used more frequently if Rosario continues to struggle at the plate.
Jun 9 2017Rosario is not in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Giants, Phil Miller of the Star Tribune reports. With southpaw Matt Moore on the mound for San Francisco, Rosario will take a seat for the third time in the last four games. In his place, Robbie Grossman will move into left field for Friday's contest. With right-handers Jeff Samardzija and Matt Cain on tap for the rest of the weekend, Rosario is likely to be back in the lineup the rest of the series.
Jun 8 2017Rosario is not in the lineup Thursday against the Mariners. This is the second time Rosario will sit out in the past three games. It's a bit surprising to see him sit given that right-hander Christian Bergman is pitching for Seattle, but it may just be a day off after he posted a .222 batting average over the past 30 games. Robbie Grossman will move into left field to replace him, while Kennys Vargas acts as the designated hitter to round out the lineup.
Jun 6 2017Rosario is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Mariners, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. He takes a seat against dominant lefty James Paxton, as the Twins naturally opt for the platoon advantage with Robbie Grossman in left field. Rosario is hitting .203/.247/.354 with two home runs over his last 79 at-bats (25 games).
May 31 2017Rosario went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Wednesday's 17-6 loss to the Astros. He's locked in at the moment, collecting nine hits, two homers, six runs and four RBI in his last six games. Rosario's .269/.302/.431 slash line through 48 games is nearly identical to his 2016 performance but his strikeout rate and BABIP are down significantly, giving hope that the 25-year-old hasn't yet reached his fantasy ceiling.
May 27 2017Rosario went 2-for-3 with a solo homer Saturday against the Rays.Rosario blasted his fourth bomb of the campaign to tie the game in the fourth inning of a game the Twins would go on to win. His current .257/.280/.410 slash line makes him a marginal fantasy option.
May 23 2017Rosario is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Orioles, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. This marks the second consecutive game that the 25-year-old will watch from the bench. It may be a result of the Twins sticking with the lineup that produced 14 runs in Monday's contest, although Rosario didn't help his cause by batting .132 over his past 14 games. Robbie Grossman will take over in left field once again.
May 22 2017Rosario is not in the lineup Monday against the Orioles, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.Rosario is hitless over the last three contests (0-for-10), so he'll head to the bench to clear his head as Robbie Grossman takes over in left field for the game.
May 18 2017Rosario is not in the lineup for the second game of the Twins' doubleheader with the Rockies on Thursday.Rosario went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a strikeout in game one, but he'll get time to rest up for Friday's contest as he sits out the nightcap. Robbie Grossman will move into left field to fill the void there.
May 13 2017Rosario is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Indians.Robbie Grossman will take over in left and bat second in place of Rosario against Clevaland's Mike Clevinger. Rosario had a hot stretch earlier in the month that bumped his average up to .302, but a 2-for-18 stretch has dropped him back down to .272. He could draw back in Sunday against right-hander Trevor Bauer.
May 4 2017Rosario went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two runs and a walk during Thursday's loss to Oakland. The outfielder now sports a 14-game hitting streak with nine runs, three home runs, seven RBI and a .396 batting average. Rosario flashed nice upside during his rookie campaign in 2015, but he struggled to follow it up last year. Often times development isn't statistically linear with young players, and with some growing pains out of the way, Rosario could be in line for another step forward in his age-25 season. He's still likely best viewed as a supporting contributor and not a go-to asset, though.
May 4 2017Rosario, who owns a 13-game hit streak, is batting sixth and playing left field for the Twins on Thursday against the Athletics, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. The left fielder may be hitting that high up because Danny Santana and Chris Gimenez are also filling in for typical starters Max Kepler and Jason Castro. However, Rosario's promotion may signal more confidence in occupying a higher spot on the norm. Stay tuned to see if the intriguing deep-league fantasy piece can capitalize on this production surge.
Apr 29 2017Rosario went 2-for-4 in Friday's win over Kansas City to extend his hitting streak to ten games. He's hitting .395 (15-for-38) with two home runs over that span.Rosario got off to a slow start as he was hitting .154 over his first 11 games. Rosario's recent hot streak hasn't changed his free-swinging ways as he has just three walks this season.
Apr 22 2017Rosario went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Friday's 6-3 win over the Tigers. The blast, an opposite-field shot on the first pitch he saw from Joe Jimenez, was Rosario's first of the season and capped a six-run sixth inning for Minnesota. After a rough start to 2017, the 25-year-old now has six hits in his last four games to drag his slash line up to .226/.268/.302.
Apr 18 2017Rosario went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Monday's loss to Cleveland to raise his batting average to .186.Rosario is off to a slow start to the season as he's just 8-for-43 at the plate with one extra-base hit. However, there's been little indication he'll lose playing time due to his poor first 12 games and Monday's game could indicate his slump is over. Rosario is prone to slumps since he has poor plate discipline, as he has just three walks this season and had a 3.5 percent walk rate last season.
Mar 26 2017Rosario went 3-for-3 in Sunday's spring training loss to Boston. He's 5-for-6 since returning from playing for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic.Rosario is set to begin the season as the starting left fielder. Rosario's woeful plate discipline leaves his batting average volatile, but the lefty hitter boasts the potential for double-digit home runs and stolen bases.
Mar 23 2017Rosario is expected to start Friday's Grapefruit League game, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Star Tribune reports.Like teammate Kennys Vargas, Rosario represented Team Puerto Rico during its run to the finals of the World Baseball Classic, though Rosario played much more frequently. The left fielder compiled a respectable 6-for-19 run with five RBI and two stolen bases during the international tournament. Rosario boasts some fantasy sleeper appeal because he contributes adeptly in home runs and stolen bases, though every other category remains tenuous because of the Twins' potentially erratic lineup and his own shaky plate discipline.
Mar 3 2017Rosario entering Opening Day as the starting left fielder is "a fairly good assumption", manager Paul Molitor said, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. The 25-year-old has pieced together useful fantasy stretches over the past two years, notably last season after tearing up Triple-A for a demotion stretch with Rochester. Rosario hit .305 with seven home runs and an .812 OPS following his call-up before a broken thumb cost him the last few weeks of the season. His woeful plate discipline leaves his batting average ceiling shorter than desired, but the lefty stick boasts a profile for double-digit home runs and stolen bases that, commensurate with playing time, could help deep mixed fantasy players at times.
Dec 16 2016Rosario (thumb) will begin playing in the Puerto Rican Winter League next week, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. There were some reports that Rosario might not be able to get into winter ball action in an effort to keep him ready for the World Baseball Classic, but it seems like his thumb got back to full health quickly enough that the Twins feel comfortable deploying him already. Barring any extraneous circumstances, the 25-year-old appears to be lined up as the Twins' starting left fielder heading into spring training.
Dec 5 2016Rosario's fractured left thumb is healing well enough that he's considering playing for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.Rosario isn't expected to be cleared to play in time for the Puerto Rican Winter League, but it looks like he'll be ready to play when the WBC begins in early March. Rosario fractured his left thumb while sliding in a game on Sept. 17. He'll enter spring training as the favorite to start the year as the Twins' starting left fielder.
Sep 20 2016Rosario was diagnosed with a fractured thumb Tuesday and will miss the rest of the season, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports. He will miss six weeks recovering from the broken thumb, so his season is over. Robbie Grossman figures to get the bulk of the starts in left field going forward. Rosario rebounded from a rough first half (.635 OPS) to hit .291/.328/.450 with six home runs in 201 plate appearances in the second half. However, a 28.4 percent K-rate and .386 BABIP in the second half make his success seem unsustainable heading into 2017. That said, he'll likely enter spring training as the favorite to enter the year as the Twins' starting left fielder.
Sep 20 2016Rosario (thumb) is out of the lineup Tuesday against Detroit. He was set to have his left thumb examined Monday for a possible fracture, but the results of those tests have not yet been revealed. Robbie Grossman will start in left field and hit third Tuesday.
Sep 18 2016Although preliminary X-rays were inconclusive, Rosario will have his left thumb examined Monday for a possible fracture, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. He suffered a bruised left thumb in Saturday's game while sliding into first base but was able to stay in the game. However, it sounds like it could be serious enough of an ailment to end his season.
Sep 18 2016Rosario is not in Sunday's lineup against the Mets. He suffered a bruised left thumb in Saturday's game while sliding into first base, but was able to stay in the game, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.Rosario's injury sounds minor, but any setback could end his season with so few games left to play.
Sep 15 2016Rosario went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Tigers. The soon-to-be 25-year-old outfielder walks just 3.2 percent of the time, so he needs multi-hit efforts like this to prop up his value. Couple that low walk rate with a 25.4 percent strikeout rate, and it becomes apparent that Rosario still has a lot to work on after seeing his slugging percentage drop from .459 as a rookie to .418 this season.
Sep 11 2016Rosario is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Indians.Rosario had been seeing regular action in the Twins' outfield, but he will not start Sunday for the third time in four days. Logan Schafer will get the start in left field Sunday.
Sep 9 2016Rosario is out of the lineup Friday against the Indians.Rosario has been starting in left field almost every day of late, but this will now be the second game in a row that he has been held out of the lineup, although he made it in Wednesday as a defensive replacement. He is slugging .420 and would be on pace for double-digit homers and steals over a full season, but his .294 OBP is a bit of a problem. Logan Schafer is starting in left field and hitting seventh Friday.
Sep 7 2016Rosario is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.Rosario tallied four hits, including a home run, over his last two games, but he will be held out Wednesday with the Twins loading up on right-handed hitters against Royals starter Danny Duffy. Robbie Grossman will return to action Wednesday and start in left field in Rosario's place.
Sep 2 2016Rosario is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox, according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.Rosario owns just a .557 OPS against left-handers this season, so he will be held out Friday in favor of Logan Schafer with the Twins facing White Sox southpaw Carlos Rodon. Schafer hits left-handed just like Rosario, but is the better defender.
Aug 28 2016Rosario is out of the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays.Rosario has just one day off since Aug. 6, but he'll take a seat Sunday afternoon in favor of Danny Santana in center field. He was 1-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday afternoon's contest.
Aug 6 2016Rosario went 2-for-2 with a two-run homer and two runs overall in Friday's 6-2 victory over the Rays.He gave the Twins the lead for good with a 404-foot pinch-hit homer to right center in the seventh that plated Eduardo Escobar. Rosario has hit safely in four straight with multi-hit efforts in three of those contests, and his slashing .500/.529/.938 over his first 16 at-bats in August.
Aug 4 2016Rosario is out of the lineup Thursday, Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports. With Byron Buxton coming back from a knee injury and Robbie Grossman sporting a 132 wRC+, Rosario appears to be headed for a part-time role going forward. Of course, Rosario is hitting .305 with two home runs and one steal in 15 games in the second half, so he will get his fair share of starts as well down the stretch as the Twins try to assess all of their young players heading into the offseason.
Aug 1 2016Rosario homered, walked, and scored twice in a 2-for-4 game in Monday's win over Cleveland.Rosario has been showing some impressive power since his return to thee major leagues, as the home run was his 11th extra-base hit in just 21 games since his recall from Triple-A. His overall season line is still disappointing at .251/.275/.415, but he has a nifty .325/.353/.563 line since his return.
Jul 31 2016Rosario won't start Sunday's game against the White Sox, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.Rosario will sit for the second time in as many days despite being one of the hottest hitters on the team. While Saturday may have been just a rest day, his absence Sunday likely relates to the left-handed Carlos Rodon taking the hill for Chicago. Robbie Grossman will start in his place Sunday, batting second for the Twins.
Jul 30 2016Rosario is out of the lineup Saturday against the White Sox, Brandon Warne of ColdOmahaMN reports. After making six consecutive starts, Rosario will get a routine day off as Robbie Grossman fills in in left, batting leadoff. Rosario continues to swing a hot bat this month, going 24-for-74 (.324) with 14 runs over the span of 19 games.
Jul 24 2016Rosario went 4-for-4 with an RBI and three runs in Saturday's 11-9 victory over the Red Sox.Rosario plated Kennys Vargas with a seventh-inning single, and put together his second four-hit day of July. The 24-year-old has exploded during the month, slashing .396/.411/.642 and raising his season average a whopping 62 points since July 3.
Jul 21 2016Rosario went 1-for-4 with his fifth home run in Wednesday's win over Detroit. He's hitting .348 (16-for-46) with two home runs since called back up from the minors on July 2.Rosario has been hot at the plate but may still not get everyday duty as the Twins have five outfielders they're trying to get regular playing time. Some moves at the trade deadline could free up everyday at-bats for Rosario. While he's been hot at the plate, he's walked just once since July 2 and his 2.4 percent walk rate makes him prone to slumps.
Jul 19 2016Rosario is out of the lineup for Tuesday's contest with Detroit, Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports.Following three consecutive starts, Rosario will get a maintenance day as Robbie Grossman fills in for him in left and bats second. Rosario has collected 13 hits in his last 31 at-bats, boosting his BA from .198 to .242 over his last seven games.
Jul 11 2016Rosario closed out a momentous series against the Rangers in Sunday's 15-5 victory by going 3-for-5 with an RBI single and a run.Rosario contributed to the Twins' seven-run seventh with a single that plated Max Kepler, and went 10-for-20 with two doubles, a homer and three RBI in the four-game set against Texas. Largely due to those performances, Rosario has already raised his average 40 points in July, and is slashing .387/.375/.645 over 31 at-bats this month.
Jul 10 2016Rosario went 4-for-5 with a home run and two doubles in Saturday's win over the Rangers.Rosario is hitting .346 (9-for-26) in six games since being recalled from Triple-A. He'll likely get extensive playing time while he stays hot, although the Twins will try to keep him and Robbie Grossman in the lineup (Grossman has been getting time at DH).
Jul 3 2016Rosario will start in left field and bat eighth in the order Sunday against the Rangers, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports. The Twins formally recalled Rosario from Triple-A Rochester on Sunday morning, facilitating the move by designating reliever Kevin Jepsen for assignment. While Rosario entered the season in a starting role for the Twins, a porous .200/.218/.313 line across 115 at-bats resulted in his demotion to the minors in mid-May. He's since heated up with Rochester, hitting .319 with seven homers and 14 doubles in 160 at-bats, but regular playing time in the corner outfield won't be guaranteed with both Robbie Grossman and Max Kepler impressing in everyday roles.
Jul 2 2016Rosario was recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Saturday, Mike Beradino of the Pioneer Press reports.Rosario is getting called up in the wake of a hamstring injury suffered by shortstop Eduardo Escobar on Saturday that could land him on the disabled list. He's been playing all three outfield spots with the Red Wings and offers a lefty hitting complement in left field and center. Rosario had been up with Minnesota earlier this season, but was demoted after hitting .209 in 32 games.
May 18 2016Rosario was optioned to Triple-A Rochesteron Wednesday, Mike Berardino of the Sun Sentinel reports. This news is a little puzzling given Rosario is coming off of a seven-game hitting streak. It is unclear at the moment who will be called up to replace him on the roster. Oswaldo Arcia will likely move into the starting role in left field.
May 15 2016Rosario went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in Sunday's win over the Indians. It's Rosario's first multi-hit game since April 21, although it did extend his current hitting streak to a modest six games. He's been losing playing time in May due to his slump, but if Rosario can continue to heat up, he should regain his regular spot in the starting lineup.
May 14 2016Rosario will return to the lineup for Saturday's matchup with the Indians, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Star Tribune reports.Rosario was out of the lineup Friday, but will return to action in left field Saturday. He will bat seventh in the order. He is currently riding a four-game hitting streak. Rosario is 2-for-11 with one double and five strike outs in his career versus Corey Kluber.
May 13 2016Rosario is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Indians.Rosario recorded a hit in each of the last for games he started, but his recent trend of alternating starts with days off will continue, as he will come off the bench Friday after starting the night before. Oswaldo Arcia will start in left field for the Twins on Friday night.

Oswaldo Arcia will get the start in left field Tuesday and bat seventh against Baltimore right-hander Kevin Gausman.
May 4 2016Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.Rosario is just 2-for-17 in his past five games and is only batting .188/.213/.318 on the season. In his place, Oswaldo Arcia will get the start in left and bat seventh. Even though he's been struggling, Rosario is still earning a majority of the starts in left field, but will need to improve upon his 22:3 strikeout to walk ratio.
Apr 29 2016Rosario is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Tigers, Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports.Rosario is hitting just .130 over the past five games, including an 0-for-7 game against the Nationals in which he struck out four times. The 24-year-old will look to get back on track upon his return to the lineup.
Apr 26 2016Rosario hit his third home run in Tuesday's win over Cleveland, a solo home run.Rosario badly needed this homer, as he was 0-for-11 in his past two games after an 0-for-7 performance in Sunday's extra-inning marathon loss to the Nationals. Rosario has hit all three home runs in the past eight days. But Rosario has just three walks against 18 strikeouts thus far, and that approach just isn't going to work for him -- his batting line sits at .206/.239/.368.
Apr 25 2016Rosario is out of the lineup Monday against the Indians, LaVelle Neal of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.Rosario dropped his batting average to .203 after a rough 0-for-7 showing Sunday that included four strikeouts. Rosario is just 6-for-41 at the plate to begin the season.
Apr 18 2016Rosario is not in the lineup Monday against the Brewers, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.Rosario had started in center field in each of the last three games, but Byron Buxton (hand) is back in the lineup Monday, so he'll return to his spot in the middle of the outfield. Rosario, who previously handled left field duties, will likely be back in the lineup Tuesday. The 24-year-old is just 6-for-41 at the plate to begin the campaign.
Apr 15 2016Rosario will get the start in center field Friday and he'll bat eighth in the order against the Angels. With Byron Buxton (hand) getting the night off Friday, the Twins will trot out a different looking outfield for their series opener against the Angels. Rosario is a solid defender but he doesn't bring much to the dish, batting .167 with 10 strikeouts in 30 at-bats this season. Depending on how long Buxton is sidelined, Rosario could find himself making more starts in center for the time being.
Apr 10 2016Rosario will start in left field and bat second in the order Sunday against the Royals, LaVelle Neal of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.Danny Santana's (hamstring) placement on the 15-day DL will result in a move up in the order for Rosario, who had slotted into the bottom half of the lineup in each of his prior four appearances this season. While Rosario will need to rebound from his weak start to the campaign in order to stick in the No. 2 hole permanently, his presence high in the lineup could lend itself to more run-scoring opportunities.
Apr 8 2016Rosario is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Royals.Rosario will get the day off as the Twins shift Danny Santana to left field, Miguel Sano to right field, and bring Byung-ho Park back into the lineup as the DH. Rosario will enter 2016 as the starting left fielder for the Twins after a promising rookie season. During his time with the club in 2015, Rosario batted .267 from the plate with 13 home runs and 50 RBI, showing off some of his power. The former fourth-round pick also has a little speed on the basepaths, collecting 11 steals last season on 17 tries.

He's hitting .261 with a home run and two doubles in eight games this spring.Rosario enters the 2016 season with a set starting outfield role after a strong rookie season where he hit .267 with 13 home runs and 15 triples. He'll need to improve his command of the strike zone, however, as as he drew just 13 walks (3.2 percent of plate appearances) and struck out too often (24.9 percent of plate appearances). He'll be the starting left fielder, but could move to center field if the Twins elect to begin Byron Buxton in the minors.

Sep 24 2015Rosario went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer against Cleveland on Thursday. That's three homers in the last eight games for Rosario, and he's only been held without a hit twice in the last 10. Of course, this year's still in play too, with the Twins just 1.5 games out of a wild-card spot.
Sep 12 2015Rosario is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox, according to Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.Rosario will sit out Saturday as the Twins use an outfield full of right-handed hitters against White Sox starter Jose Quintana. Sep 3 2015Rosario had just one hit Thursday, but it was a grand slam against White Sox starter Jeff Samardzija. With nine homers now, Rosario's on the verge of managing double digits in doubles, triples, homers and steals in his rookie year, but he still sports an OBP south of .300. The 23-year-old outfielder has gone 10 straight games without a walk and has just one in his last 29 contests; if he can find a way to get on base more frequently while still flashing his pop and wheels, he could be an under-the-radar fantasy stud next year.
Aug 27 2015Rosario is out of the lineup Thursday against the Rays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.Rosario had started seven straight games, collecting three extra-base hits in his past two games, but he'll get the day off with lefty Drew Smyly scheduled to take the hill for the Rays. Aug 16 2015Rosario went 1-for-3 Saturday with a solo shot, his seventh home run of the season. He continues to put up decent numbers in his rookie campaign, and Rosario is now slashing .274/.297/.449 in 292 at-bats. Jul 31 2015Rosario finished a single shy of the cycle in Thursday's win over the Mariners. He went 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. In deeper leagues that start five outfielders, Rosario has probably asserted himself as a lineup mainstay for fantasy owners after joining the Twins following his early-May promotion. Over his last five games, the 23-year-old has gone 11-for-21 with four doubles, three triples, a home run, and nine runs scored. Jun 20 2015Rosario went 2-for-4 Saturday with his fifth stolen base of the season. He's picked up seven hits in his last four games, pushing his slash line on the season to .292/.317/.442. Rosario's minor league skill set has translated well to the majors so far, and as long as he can maintain his batting average and impressive BABIP, he'll have plenty of fantasy value.
Jun 20 2015Rosario went 2-for-4 in Friday's win over the Cubs and is 5-for-12 in his last three games.Rosario hit No. 2 in the order and has been in that spot in four of the last seven games. He's drawing praise from manager Paul Molitor and looks set to remain a starter in the outfield.
Jun 12 2015Rosario was re-instated from the Paternity List before Friday's game at Texas.Rosario celebrated the birth of his third child, Lucas, and missed one game while on the Paternity List.
Jun 9 2015Rosario was placed on the paternity list Tuesday. The Twins will recall shortstop prospect Jorge Polanco from Double-A Chattanooga as a corresponding move. Rosario is only expected to be on the paternity list for a handful of days, and he has six hits in his last four games, so he should soon be back in a everyday role for the Twins.
Jun 7 2015Rosario went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday's win over Milwaukee. He's hitting .341 (15-for-44) in his last 12 games. With Oswaldo Arcia staying in the minors while he get back to form after missing time with a hip injury, Rosario should remain a regular in the lineup for the near term. He's hitting .381 (8-for-21) in his last eight games.Rosario has drawn just one walk and has just two extra base hits, but he's getting enough hits to stay a regular in the outfield until the Twins have to make some roster decisions when Oswaldo Arcia returns from the DL.
May 23 2015Rosario is out of the lineup Saturday, ESPN Chicago's Doug Padilla reports. It has been a struggle lately for the rookie outfielder, as he is hitting .222 and getting on base at just a .237 clip. Shane Robinson gets the start in left field Saturday, and it would not be surprising to see Rosario optioned back to Triple-A in the near future.
May 19 2015Rosario is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Pirates, LaVelle Neal of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.Rosario has been receiving regular starts since earning the call-up in the beginning of May, but he'll get the day off after starting nine of the team's previous 11 games. Torii Hunter will take over as the starting right fielder as the Twins lose the designated hitter playing Pittsburgh.
May 9 2015Rosario went 1-for-4 in Friday's win over Cleveland. He's started the last three games in left or right field and is 3-for-11 with a home run and four RBI.Rosario was the 29th player in MLB history to hit a home run on the first pitch he saw in the majors in his debut Wednesday. He'll likely get a shot to be the everyday left fielder until Oswaldo Arcia returns from a hip injury.
May 4 2015Rosario has been called up by the Twins, Tyler Mason of Fox Sports North reports.Oswaldo Arcia hit the 15-day DL with a right hip flexor strain, opening up a spot for Rosario. He's hitting .242/.280/.379 with Rochester this season, but it seems likely that the Twins will give him at least semi-regular playing time while Arcia is on the shelf for the next two-plus weeks.
Mar 28 2015Rosario was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Saturday, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. The 23-year-old Rosario has never played above the Double-A level, but he still managed to find himself in thick of the competition for a roster spot due to his ability to play all three outfield spots. A 10-for-43 (.233 average) showing at the plate in Grapefruit League games likely undermined his bid for a roster spot, but based on his standing on the Twins' 40-man roster, it wouldn't be a surprise if he earned a call-up to the big leagues later this season.
Mar 19 2015Rosario started in center field and went 1-for-3 in Thursday's spring training loss to Tampa Bay. He's hitting .276 (8-for-29) with two home runs this spring.Rosario has gone from being a dark horse to being in the middle of the battle for the starting center field job with Aaron Hicks and Jordan Schafer. It's hard seeing him making the leap from Double-A and manager Paul Molitor has said he won't make the roster unless he wins a starting job. However, the buzz around his performance in the field (playing adequate center field) and at the plate continues to grow.
Mar 16 2015Rosario started in center field in Sunday's spring training game. While he went 0-for-3, he's hitting .263 with two home runs this spring and being given serious consideration for a roster spot, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.Rosario was not among the first wave of players sent to minor league camp Monday and was in a lineup Sunday amid mostly regulars - both good signs he's in the mix for a bench job. It's also possible he could be in the mix for the center field job with Aaron Hicks and Jordan Schafer, but that's likely a long shot. Still, he's a player to watch this spring.
Mar 4 2015Rosario, who went 0-for-2 in Wednesday's exhibition win over the University of Minnesota, will get a "long look" this spring, GM Terry Ryan told ESPN 1500 am Twin Cities. "He can play left, center, right and second. That gives a guy a lot of versatility that if somebody either disappoints or goes down - Rosario's got a lot of life in his bat. His bat is the best tool that he possesses," Ryan said. It's hard to envision Rosario making the 25-man roster to begin the season, but it's certainly worth monitoring since Ryan left the door open. It more likely signals that Rosario is a candidate to be called up early in the season if he starts strong. Rosario hit just .243/.286/.387 between High-A Fort Myers and Double-A last year after missing 50 games due to a suspension, but did impress with a .330/.345/.410 line in 100 at-bats in the Arizona Fall League.
Nov 20 2014Rosario was added to the 40-man roster on Thursday.Roasario spent most of last season at Double-A New Britain, where he hit .237/.277/.396 in 316 at-bats. The 23-year-old is not playing winter ball this offseason but was one of the top performers at the Arizona Fall League.
Sep 4 2014Rosario finished the Double-A season batting .243 with eight homers and nine steals.Increasingly, Rosario is being described as listless and aimless in his effort and approach at the plate. Given his struggles in making contact, the makeup concerns do not bode well. He's nothing special in the field, and may have to be an outfielder in the long run, so the bat will have to carry him.
May 27 2014Rosario will report to High-A Fort Myers when his 50-game suspension ends, and he could be there by Thursday, the Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.Rosario is the Twins' third-ranked position player prospect, and his 50-game suspension for testing positive for a "drug of abuse" will be complete Wednesday. The suspension represents a setback in his development, but it will be good to see the 22-year-old second baseman/outfielder get back into game action.
Jan 4 2014Rosario was suspended 50 games by MLB for a "second positive test for a drug of abuse," the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.Rosario had told his Puerto Rican winter league team about the suspension, but now it's official. It's not for PED use, but for an unknown drug of abuse. He had said he planned to appeal the suspension, but it seems unlikely that it'll be overturned. He's one of Minnesota's best prospects, after hitting .329/.377/.527 in 52 games at High-A Fort Myers and then .284/.330/.412 in 70 games at Double-A New Britain. The suspension may push his timetable to reach the majors to 2015 instead of what would have perhaps been this year.
Dec 15 2013Rosario's appeal of a 50-game suspension for violating the minor league drug policy won't be heard by MLB until early January, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.Rosario told his Puerto Rican winter league team that he's been suspended 50 games for violating the drug policy, but MLB hasn't officially commented on the situation. Rosario is one of Minnesota's best prospects after hitting .329/.377/.527 in 52 games at High-A Fort Myers and then .284/.330/.412 in 70 games at Double-A New Britain. However, a lengthy suspension will hurt his development.
Nov 19 2013Rosario has been suspended for 50 games for violating the minor league drug policy, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Rosario was playing for Mayaguez in the Puerto Rican winter league and the suspension was first reported by Spanish web site sportlivepr.com.MLB has said they won't comment on the suspension today, so it's not official. Rosario may have been set for his MLB debut in 2014, so this suspension would be a major setback. He hit 329/.377/.527 in 52 games at Class A Fort Myers then .284/.330/.412 in 70 games at Class AA New Britain.
Apr 20 2013Rosario is off to a strong start at High-A Fort Myers by hitting .387/.412/.565 with two home runs in his first 12 games. "Both [Miguel Sano and Rosario] are off to really good starts," Brad Steil, the Twins director of minor leagues, told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "Both are hitting well and playing good defense."If Rosario has a strong start to the season, and if his defense holds up at second base, it's not inconceivable he could be called up to the majors in September. A strong season could put him in the mix for a major league job in 2014 as the Twins have few high upside prospects in the middle infield.
