Grichuk has reverse splits, as lefties can get him out with ease without throwing him fastballs and he is primarily a fastball hitter. With this in mind, he is likely to start three or four times per week and it will be difficult to pick up on a pattern.

Grichuk was able to rack up six extra base hits this spring to make a solid impression on Cardinals' brass, but there simply isn't enough room for him in the outfield on the major league roster at the moment.

Nov 22 2013Grichuk was traded to the Cardinals on Friday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.Grichuk, a first-round pick in 2009 by the Angels, has been moving slowly through the system, but had a productive power year with Double-A Arkansas in 2013. Though he hit just .256, he added 22 home runs and 64 RBI. He will continue to work on his plate discipline in a change of scenery but could be a solid outfield prospect for the Cardinals.
