Jun 5 2025 | Realmuto (groin) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Toronto. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto's absence for Thursday's matinee game comes as little surprise after he departed Wednesday's 2-1 loss following a foul tip to the groin area. Per Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Realmuto downplayed the groin issue Thursday and said he's hopeful that he'll have to miss only one start, though he acknowledged he hasn't tried to swing a bat since suffering the injury and will likely be available for the series finale in Toronto only in an emergency situation. Rafael Marchan will start at catcher and bat ninth for the Phillies on Thursday. |

His status for the Phillies' next few games remains unknown, though any missed time for the 34-year-old would result in Rafael Marchan picking up reps behind the dish. |
May 29 2025 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for the first game of Thursday's doubleheader versus Atlanta. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Rafael Marchan will handle catching duties for the first game of the day, but Realmuto should be back behind the dish for the nightcap, when he'll form a battery with right-hander Zack Wheeler. Realmuto had started in each of the Phillies' previous four games and went 2-for-17 at the plate, bringing his batting average down to a career-low .228 for the season. |
May 27 2025 | Realmuto is batting eighth for the first time since 2022 on Tuesday against Atlanta, Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran backstop has a .684 OPS this season and is batting .172 (5-for-29) with a 31 percent strikeout rate in his past six games, so he'll move down the lineup after primarily operating as Philadelphia's leadoff man to begin the season. Manager Rob Thomson said he wanted to "take the pressure off" Realmuto as he works on a leg kick and improving his timing. |
May 22 2025 | Reamuto is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Colorado. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Phillies are wrapping up their series in Colorado with a day game, and Realmuto had started at catcher in each of the first three contests versus the Rockies, so he'll get a breather for the finale. Rafael Marchan will start behind the dish and bat ninth as the Phillies try to complete the sweep. |
May 18 2025 | Realmuto is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will begin on the bench after starting each of the previous two days and going 1-for-7 with an RBI in that span. Rafael Marchan will get the start behind the plate in Realmuto's stead Sunday. |
May 14 2025 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 14-7 loss to the Cardinals in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto rested for the early game and made an early impact in the nightcap. His homer capped a five-run first inning for the Phillies, though the Cardinals' offense responded in a bigger way over the rest of the contest. Realmuto is playing well in May, going 10-for-35 (.286) with five extra-base hits and seven RBI over 10 games this month. Overall, the catcher is at a .250/.327/.409 slash line with four homers, 15 RBI, 15 runs scored and four stolen bases over 36 contests this season. |

May 8 2025 | Realmuto (foot) will start at catcher and bat seventh in Thursday's contest versus the Rays. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was forced to depart Wednesday's game against the Rays after fouling a ball off his left foot, but the injury will not prevent him from starting in the series finale. The 34-year-old catcher was hitless in the first two games of the series but did draw a couple walks. |
May 7 2025 | Realmuto was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rays due to a left foot contusion, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto fouled a ball off his foot during his at-bat in the seventh inning, but initial evaluations indicate that he only suffered a bruise due to the incident. The Phillies plan on running some additional tests just to make sure no severe damage was done, but the 34-year-old backstop can be considered day-to-day for now. |
May 3 2025 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Diamondbacks. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto extended the Phillies' lead to six runs in the third inning, when he took Brandon Pfaadt deep to left-center field for a three-run home run. It was Realmuto's third homer of the season (two of which have come over his last three starts), and the veteran catcher has seven multi-hit games in 2025. He has gone 8-for-27 (.296) with five runs scored and four RBI over his last seven games. |

While he sits, Rafael Marchan will start at catcher and bat ninth. |
Apr 20 2025 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The absence breaks a run of eight straight starts for Realmuto, who went 6-for-30 with a double, a homer, three RBI and 12 strikeouts during that span. Rafael Marchan will step in behind the plate as Realmuto gets a breather. |
Apr 15 2025 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Giants. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto got the Phillies on the board in the second inning, when he took Justin Verlander deep to left-center field for a 387-foot solo homer, and the former brought in another run when his single in the sixth inning brought Kyle Schwarber home. Tuesday was Realmuto's first game since April 2 in which he recorded an RBI. He's slashing .245/.327/.367 with four stolen bases, one home run and five RBI in 55 plate appearances this season. |
Apr 11 2025 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Friday's game in St. Louis. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto caught all 11 innings of Thursday's extra-innings, rain-delayed game in Atlanta, so he'll get some well-earned rest Friday. Rafael Marchan is behind the dish and batting ninth for the Phillies in Friday's series opener. |
Apr 6 2025 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He'll receive a breather as the Phillies close out their series with the Dodgers with a day game after a night game. |
Apr 4 2025 | Realmuto went 3-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and two stolen bases in Thursday's 3-1 win over Colorado. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was an encouraging effort from Realmuto, who'd gone just 2-for-17 (.118) in four games prior to Thursday's contest. With his two steals, the 34-year-old catcher has already matched his regular-season total from 2024, where he slashed .266/.322/.429 with 14 homers, 47 RBI and 50 runs scored across 413 plate appearances. |
Mar 31 2025 | Realmuto (foot) will start at catcher and bat cleanup in Monday's game against the Rockies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto didn't play in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Nationals after fouling a pitch off his left foot Saturday, but he's ready to go following a day of rest. |

Through nine at-bats this season, the star backstop has one hit (a triple) and two RBI. |
Mar 29 2025 | Realmuto was removed from Saturday's game against the Nationals due to a left foot contusion, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The move to replace Realmuto with Rafael Marchan in the bottom of the seventh was done for "precautionary reasons." It doesn't appear that Realmuto's injury is of much concern, though it could impact his availability for Sunday's series finale. He went 0-for-4 before being removed from Saturday's game. |
Feb 14 2025 | The Phillies plan to give Realmuto fewer starts at catcher this season in order to preserve his body, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Rob Thomson has already spoken to Realmuto about the plan and the two are on the same page. While there is no set number of games for Realmuto to catch, he said Thursday that his body "feels as good right now as it ever has" and he believes he can start 120-plus games at catcher, if needed. The Phillies are expected to give Realmuto some starts at designated hitter and first base, and they've even floated the possibility of using him in left field on occasion. Slated to turn 34 in March, Realmuto was limited to 99 games in 2024 due to knee surgery, and while he remained productive at the plate, his stolen-base total dropped to just two. Realmuto blamed the knee for his lack of aggressiveness on the bases, saying he "wasn't able to be as explosive," but he feels like he's "in a good spot" now. |
Sep 29 2024 | Realmuto is absent from Sunday's lineup against the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will rest for the Phillies' regular-season finale as Garrett Stubbs starts behind home plate and bats ninth. Realmuto will end the regular season with a slash line of .266/.322/.429 with 14 home runs and 47 RBI across 413 plate appearances. |
Sep 24 2024 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Phillies clinched the NL East title with a win over the Cubs on Monday, but Realmuto's absence from the lineup Tuesday likely has more to do with the fact that he started the previous five games. Garrett Stubbs will do the catching for opener Tanner Banks. |
Sep 23 2024 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run Thursday against the Cubs. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto's 14th round-tripper put the Phillies on the board in the second inning and served as the springboard to their division-clinching victory. It was the veteran catcher's fifth multi-hit game and third homer this month. Barring a surge during the final week of the season, Realmuto will finish with fewer than 17 home runs in a full season for the first time since 2016. |
Sep 18 2024 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After a recent five-game absence due to a knee injury, Realmuto had started at catcher in each of the Phillies' ensuing five games while going 4-for-18 with two doubles, two RBI and one run. Realmuto appears to be getting a routine maintenance day Wednesday. |
Sep 13 2024 | Realmuto (knee) is catching and batting fifth Friday against the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto hasn't played since Sep. 6 after fouling a ball off his left knee and suffering a knee contusion. Before the injury, Realmuto had a four-game hit streak and went 6-for-13 with a homer and a stolen base during that stretch. |
Sep 11 2024 | Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that he expects Realmuto (knee) to return to the lineup Friday versus the Mets, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Rays and will end up getting a full week off as he recovers from a left knee contusion, an injury that he suffered when he fouled a ball off himself last Friday in Miami. Fortunately for Realmuto, follow-up tests revealed no structural damage to the knee, but the Phillies will continue to hold him out for a couple more days while he waits for the swelling to calm down. Garrett Stubbs and Aramis Garcia have been holding down the fort at catcher while Realmuto has been out of action. |
Sep 9 2024 | Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Monday that Realmuto (knee) could be ready to play by the start of the team's series against the Mets on Friday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto is missing a third straight start while he deals with a left knee contusion. Thomson noted that the catcher is still dealing with swelling and fluid in the knee, which will prevent him from catching a bullpen session Monday as originally planned. The hope is that Realmuto will be able to test out the knee by catching a bullpen session Tuesday, but it doesn't seem to be a given as the club monitors his status on a day-to-day basis. Garrett Stubbs is doing the catching for the Phillies on Monday. |
Sep 8 2024 | Realmuto (knee) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 33-year-old said Sunday his bruised left knee is feeling much better and that he could rejoin the lineup in a day or two, per Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer, but he's sitting for the second straight day. Aramis Garcia will receive the start behind the plate, and Realmuto should continue to be considered day-to-day. |
Sep 7 2024 | Realmuto (knee) isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was taken out of Friday's contest after he fouled a ball off his left knee in the second inning. The team hasn't indicated that the 33-year-old will need to spend time on the injured list, though the issue is apparently severe enough to warrant a day off Saturday. Garrett Stubbs will catch for starting pitcher Aaron Nola. |
Sep 6 2024 | Realmuto exited Friday's game against the Marlins after fouling a ball off his left knee, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto fouled a pitch off his left knee in the second inning and remained in the game briefly. However, he was lifted in favor of Garrett Stubbs in the fourth frame. The severity of the issue is unclear. |
Sep 5 2024 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over the Blue Jays. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto took Ryan Burr deep to lead off the top of the ninth inning, adding an insurance run in Philadelphia's two-run win. It's the fourth homer in 11 games for Realmuto, who's gone 14-for-32 (.326) with a 1.039 OPS in that span. The 33-year-old backstop is now slashing .261/.317/.422 through 357 plate appearances this season with 12 homers, 38 RBI, 43 runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. |
Aug 28 2024 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will get a breather for Wednesday's afternoon contest after he caught all eight innings of Tuesday's 5-0 win while going 2-for-4 with a double. Garrett Stubbs will fill in for Realmuto behind the plate. |
Aug 25 2024 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran backstop started the previous five contests and will sit for Sunday's afternoon tilt after a night game Saturday. Realmuto has a .348/.400/.652 slash line with five doubles, three homers, 14 RBI and eight runs in his past 46 at-bats. Garrett Stubbs will step in behind the plate to catch for lefty Kolby Allard. |
Aug 24 2024 | Realmuto went 3-for-5 with two home runs and seven RBI in Saturday's 11-2 win over the Royals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto had a pair of three-run homers to turn the game into a romp for the Phillies, and he added his seventh RBI on a groundout in the ninth inning. The catcher had hit just one homer over his previous 34 contests, so this was a breakout game a long time in the making. He's batting .277 (18-for-65) in August and is now up to a .262/.320/.413 slash line with 10 homers, 36 RBI, 40 runs scored and one stolen base over 76 games this year. |
Aug 18 2024 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto started the previous six games but will receive a day off after going 7-for-21 with three walks, two doubles, four RBI and three runs during that span. Garrett Stubbs will step in behind the plate to catch for Taijuan Walker on Sunday. |
Aug 10 2024 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After catching four consecutive games, Realmuto will give way to Garrett Stubbs behind the dish Saturday. During that four-game stretch, Realmuto went 2-for-15 with a double and a solo homer. |
Aug 9 2024 | Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a double, a solo homer and a second run scored in Thursday's win over the Diamondbacks. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto crushed a 430-foot home run to lead off the seventh inning and extend Philadelphia's lead to two runs. The backstop would add a leadoff double in the ninth before coming around to score a second time, marking his first game with multiple runs since May 22. The long ball was also his first since May 23, ending a 22-game drought, but he's batting just .167 (4-for-24) in August even after the two-hit effort. On a positive note, Realmuto has driven in a run in three of his last four contests. |
Aug 5 2024 | Realmuto is not in the starting lineup Monday versus the Dodgers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will take a seat after going 2-for-12 with an RBI, a walk and three strikeouts while starting all three games of the team's series against Seattle over the weekend. Garrett Stubbs will take over behind the plate and bat ninth against Los Angeles. |
Jul 31 2024 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He'll receive a breather for the Wednesday afternoon game after he logged 12 innings behind the plate while going 3-for-5 with a walk and a run scored in the Phillies' 7-6 loss Tuesday night. Garrett Stubbs will handle the catching duties for Philadelphia in the series finale. |
Jul 28 2024 | Realmuto is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Guardians. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will take a breather Sunday after going 0-for-8 with one run scored across the first two games of the series. Garrett Stubbs will start behind home plate and bat ninth against Cleveland southpaw Joey Cantillo. |
Jul 24 2024 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Garrett Stubbs will draw the start behind the plate while Realmuto receives a breather for the day game after catching all nine innings of Tuesday's 3-0 win. Since being activated from the injured list Saturday, Realmuto has gone 2-for-9 with three walks and a run over his three starts. |
Jul 21 2024 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After going 1-for-3 with a walk while logging eight innings behind the plate in Saturday's 4-1 loss in his return from the 10-day injured list, Realmuto will get some maintenance in the series finale in Pittsburgh. Garrett Stubbs will receive the start at catcher Sunday, but Realmuto should see the overwhelming share of work now that he's recovered from right knee surgery, which kept him on the shelf for nearly a month and a half. |
Jul 20 2024 | The Phillies reinstated Realmuto (knee) from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has been on the injured list since June 11 after undergoing right meniscus surgery. Manager Rob Thomson said before the All-Star break that it was unlikely the 33-year-old backstop would return during the weekend series, but Realmuto's progressed through his recovery faster than expected and will be active for Saturday's game versus Pittsburgh. Rafael Marchan will head back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move, and Realmuto will reclaim his spot as Philadelphia's everyday catcher after slashing .261/.309/.411 during the first half. |
Jul 19 2024 | Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Friday that Realmuto (knee) is "very close" and could be activated from the 10-day injured list as soon as this weekend, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Thomson had said just before the All-Star break that it was unlikely Realmuto would return this weekend for a series against the Pirates, but evidently the catcher is progressing more quickly than expected. Realmuto had right meniscus surgery in mid-June, and he's been upping his workouts lately without issue. It would appear he will not need a rehab assignment before being activated. |
Jul 14 2024 | Manager Rob Thomson said Sunday that Realmuto (knee) likely won't be activated the 10-day injured list when the Phillies open their second-half schedule Friday in Pittsburgh, MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto is reportedly progressing well in his recovery from the meniscectomy he underwent June 12, but his return date looks to have been pushed back a few days after poor weather in Philadelphia this past weekend prevented him from getting in his scheduled on-field work. The veteran backstop should continue to take part in baseball activities on his own during the All-Star break this coming week, but the Phillies will likely want to monitor him in a few more workouts before reinstating him from the IL. A return to action in the week of July 22 still looks to be in the cards for Realmuto. |
Jul 4 2024 | Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Thursday that Realmuto (knee) is working out at 70-to-75 percent intensity, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto is three weeks removed from right meniscus surgery and is progressing nicely. The club is not ruling out a return for their starting catcher prior to the All-Star break if he proves to be ready by then, but it's probably more likely that Realmuto is held out until the start of the second half. |
Jul 2 2024 | Realmuto (knee) participated in receiving drills and hit on the field ahead of Thursday's road game against the Cubs, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran catcher has recently been hitting in the batting cage but is now ready to hit on the field for the first time since undergoing meniscus surgery June 12. Realmuto still has significant work to do in his rehab program, but a return shortly after the All-Star break appears to be a reasonable target for his activation. |
Jun 11 2024 | The Phillies placed Realmuto on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with right knee pain, and he's scheduled to undergo a meniscectomy Wednesday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, Realmuto has been playing through the injury for nearly a month, and the Phillies elected to address the injury now rather than attempting to wait things out. Gelb also reports that Realmuto will miss roughly a month, potentially setting him up for a mid-July return from the shelf. Rafael Marchan was called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move and should serve as the backup catcher to Garrett Stubbs. |
Jun 5 2024 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Brewers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Phillies and Brewers are playing a day game Wednesday after Realmuto caught all 10 innings of a 2-1 win Tuesday, so he appears to be getting some rest in the series finale. Garrett Stubbs will start behind the dish for the Phillies on Wednesday as they go for the sweep of Milwaukee. |
Jun 2 2024 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto started the first two games of the series and will receive Sunday off after going 0-for-8 with four strikeouts and a run scored. Garrett Stubbs will step in behind the plate and bat eighth. |
May 29 2024 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will get a breather for the afternoon game after he started behind the plate each of the previous three days while going 3-for-13 with eight strikeouts. He recorded exactly one hit in each of those contests to extend his hitting streak to 17 games. Unless he's deployed off the bench Wednesday, Realmuto will look to extend the streak to 18 when he likely returns to the lineup for Friday's series opener versus the Cardinals. |
May 25 2024 | Realmuto isn't in the Phillies' lineup Saturday against the Rockies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After going 2-for-5 in a loss during Friday's series opener, Realmuto will get a breather against Dakota Hudson and the Rockies. Garrett Stubbs will fill in behind the plate and bat eighth. |
May 22 2024 | Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, two additional RBI and an additional run scored during Wednesday's 11-4 win over the Rangers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has generated a hit in 12 consecutive games and has reached via hit multiple times in six of those contests. However, Wednesday's solo homer off Dane Dunning was his first of that stretch and his three RBI were his most since April. Realmuto is batting .377 with three doubles and 11 runs scored during his hit streak. |
May 15 2024 | Realmuto (knee) will start at catcher and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will re-enter the starting nine after sitting out each of the past three games while managing a sore right knee. Provided he doesn't experience any setbacks in his return to action, Realmuto should resume handling one of the heftier workloads in the league among No. 1 catchers, though it wouldn't be surprising if the Phillies gave him a breather later this week or had him serve as a designated hitter for a game. |
May 14 2024 | Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Tuesday that he expects Realmuto (knee) to return to the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Mets, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto missed a third straight start Tuesday because of right knee soreness. However, he got in a productive workout pregame, and as long as he doesn't have any sort of setback, it appears he'll be back in there for Wednesday's tilt in Philadelphia. |
May 13 2024 | Realmuto (knee) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will be on the bench for a second straight game with what the Phillies are characterizing as right knee soreness. The veteran backstop said he first picked up the injury while legging out a triple in the Phillies' May 4 game against the Giants, and his knee hasn't improved in the week since. Neither Realmuto nor the Phillies are concerned yet about him requiring a stint on the injured list, though that could be a stronger possibility if he's not able to return to the lineup within the next couple of days. Garrett Stubbs will fill in for Realmuto behind the plate Monday. |
May 12 2024 | Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins due to a knee injury, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: More specifically, Thomson said Realmuto's knee was "a little banged up" when he reported to the ballpark earlier Sunday, so the Phillies opted to give him the series finale off. The skipper noted that he's not worried about Realmuto, but fantasy managers will still want to verify that the star catcher is back in the starting nine for Monday's game against the Mets before locking him into weekly fantasy lineups. Garrett Stubbs will replace Realmuto behind the plate Sunday. |
May 7 2024 | Realmuto is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Blue Jays. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's a rare day off for Realmuto, who has reached base eight times over the last three games. Garrett Stubbs will get a start behind the plate for the Phillies. |
May 6 2024 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Sunday's win over the Giants. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto slid into the No. 2 spot in the order with Trea Turner (hamstring) recently being placed on the injured list. He singled in the third and came home on Bryce Harper's three-run homer and would wind up notching two more base hits before his night was over. Sunday was the first three-hit effort of the season for Realmuto and his seventh multi-hit game. For the year, he's now slashing .259/.315/.431 with five homers, 14 RBI, 18 runs and a 9:34 BB:K in 127 plate appearances. |
Apr 29 2024 | Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBI in Sunday's 8-6 win over the Padres. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto won the battle against Michael King in the sixth, sending a 421-foot blast to left center to put the Phillies up 6-3. He gave them some additional insurance with an RBI single in the seventh as well. Realmuto's now hit safely in six of his last seven games and has five RBI over his last three. For the year, he's slashing .245/.292/.429 with five homers, 14 RBI, 14 runs and a 6:28 BB:K in 106 plate appearances. |

Apr 13 2024 | Realmuto isn't in the Phillies' lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will get a breather Saturday after going 1-for-7 with a run scored through the first two games of the series. Garrett Stubbs will take over behind the plate and bat seventh. |
Apr 10 2024 | Realmuto (neck) will start at catcher and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game in St. Louis. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto departed Tuesday's 3-0 loss when a pitch in the dirt bounced up and caught him in the throat. Even with the Phillies and Cardinals playing a day game after a night game, he's feeling well enough to give it a go Wednesday. |
Apr 9 2024 | Realmuto (neck) will be evaluated again Wednesday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto is dealing with a bruised neck after taking a Zack Wheeler slider off of his neck in the seventh inning Tuesday, putting his availability in doubt for the immediate future. The catcher's status will receive another update Wednesday after he undergoes additional testing, and if he's forced to miss any time, Garrett Stubbs will likely operate as the team's primary catcher. |
Apr 8 2024 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Monday's game at St. Louis. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto went 0-for-3 with a walk Sunday to end a six-game hit streak during which he went 9-for-24 with two homers, and he'll hit the bench for Monday against the Cardinals. Garrett Stubbs will start at catcher and bat eighth in the series opener. |
Apr 7 2024 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and two runs scored in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto came around to score Philadelphia's first run of the game on an Alec Bohm triple in the second inning before blasting a three-run shot in the next frame to extend the lead to four runs. It was the catcher's second long ball of the season, and he's tallied two hits in back-to-back contests. Furthermore, Realmuto has now hit safely in six straight after going 0-for-3 in the Phillies' first game of the season, raising his average to .333 in the process. |
Apr 2 2024 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto went 4-for-14 with a solo homer, two walks and an additional run scored across the first four games of the season, but he'll take a seat for Tuesday's contest. Garrett Stubbs will step in behind the plate to catch for Spencer Turnbull. |
Mar 31 2024 | Realmuto went 2-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Saturday's 12-4 loss to Atlanta. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 33-year-old catcher tagged Jesse Chavez for his first long ball of the season in the third inning, but the Phillies were already in a 7-3 hole before he'd even stepped into the batter's box. Realmuto's .762 OPS last year was his lowest mark since 2015, his first full season in the majors, while his 25.7 percent strikeout rate was a career worst. Even so, he still delivered 20 homers and 16 steals in 135 games, and unless the bottom completely falls out for him in 2024, Realmuto should be one of the top fantasy options behind the plate. |
Feb 27 2024 | Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Realmuto is on track to make his Grapefruit League debut Wednesday versus Atlanta, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto and first baseman Bryce Harper have been spectators for the Phillies' first four spring games, but neither is dealing with an injury and both are just getting extra time to ramp up before being thrust into action. Because Realmuto will likely shoulder one of the heavier workloads among all catchers in the league during the upcoming season, the Phillies will likely ease up on his usage during the spring and instead hand Garrett Stubbs, Rafael Marchan (back) and Cam Gallagher more opportunities behind the dish. Largely because of the high volume of starts he's historically handled, Realmuto will likely continue to be drafted as a top-five fantasy catcher, even though he may be more of a neutral rather than a positive asset in batting average these days after he hit .252 while striking out at a career-worst 25.7 percent clip in 2023. |
Oct 1 2023 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Phillies have the No. 1 wild-card seed locked up, so it's not a surprise Realmuto is on the bench for the regular-season finale. The 32-year-old's .762 OPS in 135 games this year will be the lowest since his first full MLB season in 2015. |

Realmuto will surely be back in the lineup for the nightcap. |

He extended the Phillies' lead to 4-0 in the fifth inning with his 18th homer of the year, a 417-foot blast to center field off Tim Hill. |

Overall, Realmuto's slash line is up to .255/.318/.467 with 17 homers, 61 runs scored, 53 RBI and 13 stolen bases across 461 plate appearances this season. |
Aug 30 2023 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will rest for the day game after a night game, opening up the catcher's spot for Garrett Stubbs in the series finale. Unless he makes a cameo off the bench Wednesday, Realmuto will close August with a .288/.333/.479 slash line to go with three home runs, 13 runs and nine RBI over 21 games. |
Aug 25 2023 | Realmuto is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Phillies were off Thursday, so Realmuto will receive two days of rest to recharge his battery. Garrett Stubbs will do the catching for Cristopher Sanchez. |

Aug 13 2023 | Realmuto is not in Sunday's lineup against the Twins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto is hitting .313 with three home runs, six runs and six RBI over his last 10 games. Garrett Stubbs will start at catcher and bat eighth. |
Aug 11 2023 | Realmuto went 2-for-2 with a two-run homer and two walks in Thursday's 6-2 victory over Washington. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 32-year-old backstop swatted an opposite-field, two-run homer off Joe La Sorsa in the seventh inning, extending Philadelphia's lead to 6-1. |

Aug 6 2023 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto started the past three games after missing a couple contests due to a cut on his hand, and he'll receive Sunday off after going 4-for-11 with a home run, two RBI and three runs during that span. Garrett Stubbs will step in behind the plate to catch for Taijuan Walker. |
Aug 4 2023 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Thursday's victory over the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto took Carlos Carrasco deep for a solo shot in his first trip to the plate to give the Phillies an early 2-0 lead. The catcher later tacked on a single to give him his first multi-hit game since July 7 against these same Marlins. He's now hit safely in five of his last six games, slightly raising his batting average to .246 on the season. |
Aug 3 2023 | Realmuto (hand) is batting sixth and starting behind the plate Thursday against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with a cut on his hand and was also held out Wednesday. |

Realmuto now has six hits, six runs and four RBI over his last two games after he was hitless over the prior four games coming into Monday. Tuesday's stolen base brought him up to double-digit steals for a third straight season, and he's now up to a slash line of .260/.311/.474 with six homers, 25 RBI, 26 runs and a 13:54 BB:K over 235 plate appearances. |

Even after the big night, Realmuto's batting average is still sitting at .256, which would be his lowest since his rookie season in 2014. He's tied with Daulton Varsho for the lead in steals (nine) among catcher-eligible players. |

The catcher is up to seven steals on nine tries this season, putting him on pace to at least challenge the career-high 21 thefts he had last year. He's slashing .299/.326/.500 with three home runs, 15 RBI, 13 runs scored, 12 doubles and three triples through 36 contests. |
May 14 2023 | Realmuto (finger) went 2-for-4 with a double in Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Rockies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto missed one game with a sprained right pinkie finger. He was one of three Phillies with multiple hits and the only one to log an extra-base hit in the tough loss. He played the full game at catcher, so he should be good to resume his starting role going forward. Realmuto has hit safely in seven straight games, going 9-for-24 (.375), raising his season slash line to .291/.311/.496. He's added three home runs, 15 RBI, 13 runs scored, five stolen bases, 11 doubles and three triples through 34 contests overall. |

May 12 2023 | Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters after Friday's game that Realmuto (finger) will probably not play Saturday against the Rockies but the hope is he can be back shortly after, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. X-rays returned negative. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto left Friday's game with a sprained right pinky in the seventh inning. The backstop will likely sit out Saturday with Garrett Stubbs all but assured to be the catcher against Colorado for that contest. Consider Realmuto day-to-day, but it's positive news that he doesn't appear to have structural damage in the pinky. |
May 3 2023 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He'll get a breather for the day game after a night game, affording Garrett Stubbs a turn behind the plate. |
Mar 30 2023 | Realmuto went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, a run scored and a stolen base Thursday against the Rangers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto wasn't rewarded in the stat sheet, but he appeared locked in at the plate. After striking out in his first plate appearance, Realmuto doubled and proceeded to steal third base in the second frame. He also led off the seventh inning with a triple and was driven in one batter later. Realmuto's apparent interest in being aggressive on the basepaths is particularly positive for his potential fantasy value this season. |
Mar 18 2023 | Realmuto went 2-for-3 with a double and scored a run Saturday for Team USA in a victory over Team Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has been on a tear in the WBC for Team USA, as the pair of hits raised his average to .625 with an .875 slugging percentage in the tournament. Even with an influx of talent at the position, Realmuto is still being drafted as the top catcher in most fantasy formats, and justifiably so. |

The 31-year-old catcher was locked in at the plate during Game 1 -- he reached base three times, and his other two at bats were both line-outs. Realmuto's homer was his second in the last three games and third of the playoffs. Playing in his first career postseason, he has racked up six RBI and 11 runs scored. |

The 31-year-old entered the game struggling in his first career postseason, hitting .200 across 35 at bats, but he was able to reach base three times to help the Phillies win a crucial Game 4. Although his offensive numbers in the postseason do not jump off the page, Realmuto has now scored nine times, and his team is one win away from reaching the World Series. |
Oct 4 2022 | Realmuto isn't starting Tuesday against the Astros, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After the Phillies secured a playoff berth Monday, Realmuto and several other regulars will get the day off Tuesday. Garrett Stubbs will take over behind the dish and bat ninth. |
Oct 3 2022 | Realmuto went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 8-1 win over the Nationals in six innings. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Before rain resulted in the series finale being cut short, Realmuto enjoyed another strong two-way game, connecting on his 22nd home run of season while also throwing out a would-be base stealer in the third inning. Thanks in large part to Realmuto producing three extra-base hits over the weekend, the Phillies' magic number now sits at one heading into Monday's series opener in Houston. If the Phillies can grab a win in the next two days or if Milwaukee loses to Arizona on Monday or Tuesday, Realmuto would likely be a candidate to sit out Wednesday's regular-season finale for rest purposes. |

The 31-year-old now has 21 steals in 2022, making him the second catcher in MLB history to have at least 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases in the same season. Garrett Stubbs will take his place behind the dish and bat ninth during the second game of the twin bill. |
Sep 25 2022 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto started the past five games and will take a seat Sunday after he went 9-for-22 with two home runs, three RBI, five runs and a stolen base during that span. Garrett Stubbs will step in behind the plate and bat ninth. |
Sep 21 2022 | Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Wednesday's extra-inning win over the Blue Jays. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto singled and stole second base in the bottom of the sixth inning before he took Yimi Garcia deep for a solo shot in the bottom of the eighth frame, narrowing the Blue Jays' lead to 3-1. The long ball was his 21st of the season and the catcher has now gone deep in three straight games and seven times overall in September while the stolen base was his 18th of the campaign. Since the beginning of the month, Realmuto has batted .327 with seven homers, 14 RBI, nine runs and a stolen base over 16 contests. |

It was his first five-hit performance of the season. The 31-year-old has been magnificent at the plate over the last five weeks, posting a .347/.417/.653 slash line with seven homers and 25 RBI in 28 games while starting nearly every contest behind the plate. |

Realmuto later broke the game open with a three-run blast in the seventh inning. The multi-home run effort was the catcher's first of the season and brings his total to 18. He is within striking distance of a 20-20 season with 17 stolen bases, and he would be just the second catcher ever to accomplish the feat. |
Sep 10 2022 | Realmuto isn't starting Saturday against the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto started the last eight games and slashed .308/.419/.577 with two home runs, a double, seven RBI and five runs. Garrett Stubbs will take over behind the plate and bat seventh Saturday. |

The well-rounded production continues to be a strong suit for the 31-year-old, who is slashing .272/.341/.461 with 15 homers, 70 RBI, 17 steals and 63 runs scored through 463 plate appearances this year. |

Aug 20 2022 | Realmuto will be on the bench for the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was never likely to catch two games in one day, and the Phillies will elect to give him a full rest in the afternoon game rather than using him as the designated hitter. Garrett Stubbs will start behind the plate, but expect Realmuto to return for the nightcap. |
Aug 16 2022 | Realmuto is on the bench Tuesday in Cincinnati. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It appears to be a regular day off for Realmuto, who has accumulated two doubles, two triples and three home runs along with nine RBI in 12 games so far this month. |

Tuesday also marks his third straight multi-hit effort, as he increased his average to .348 since the beginning of July. After hitting just .239 the first three months of the season, Realmuto has turned things around and owns a respectable .268/.339/.455 line for the season. |
Aug 7 2022 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: After a three-game hitless streak, Realmuto caught fire offensively the past two contests versus Washington, going 5-for-11 with two homers, two triples, five RBI and four runs, but he'll receive a maintenance day in the series finale. Garrett Stubbs will take over behind the plate for Philadelphia. |
Aug 6 2022 | Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a home run, a triple, three RBI and two runs in Saturday's victory over the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto homered and tripled for the second time in as many games, and he also recorded multiple hits for the eighth time in 17 contests. With an OPS well north of 1.000 since the start of July, Realmuto's slow start to the season is safely in the rearview mirror. |

The long ball punctuated a perfect night at the plate for Realmuto, who reached base four times. Realmuto has now hit double-digit home runs in every one of his eight full MLB seasons. The veteran catcher has put together an excellent .339/.411/.629 in July and will look to carry that success into the final two months of the season. |
Jul 28 2022 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will sit for the second time in the second half after he was behind the dish for all three games of the Phillies' series with Atlanta earlier this week. |
Jul 17 2022 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two total runs and two total RBI in a 10-0 win against the Marlins on Saturday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning with a two-run shot to center field. He also doubled and scored in the sixth. The performance marked the third consecutive multi-hit game for the backstop. Over that span, Realmuto has gone 7-for-13 with two doubles, one homer, two runs, three RBI and a stolen base. |
Jul 16 2022 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 2-1 win over the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The catcher had a big night against his former club, and his RBI double in the seventh inning wound up being the game-winning hit. Realmuto has picked up his offensive pace over the last month or so, slashing .267/.327/.422 over his last 25 games with four of his seven homers and six of his 12 steals on the year. |
Jul 14 2022 | Realmuto (personal) was reinstated from the restricted list Thursday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was among the players that were unable to travel for the Phillies' series at Toronto. However, with the team set to kick off a series against the Marlins on Friday, Realmuto will be in line to retake duties as the team's primary backstop. |
Jul 12 2022 | Realmuto (personal) was placed on the restricted list ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Blue Jays. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto, Alec Bohm (finger), Aaron Nola and Kyle Gibson are all apparently unvaccinated, so they're unable to travel to Canada for the two-game series in Toronto this week. All four players should be reinstated to the active roster ahead of Friday's series opener against the Marlins. In the meantime, Garrett Stubbs should operate as the Phillies' primary catcher, while Rafael Marchan was promoted to handle backup duties. |
Jul 11 2022 | General manager Dave Dombrowski said that Realmuto will be placed on the restricted list Tuesday ahead of the Phillies' two-game series in Toronto, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto, third baseman Alec Bohm and starting pitchers Aaron Nola and Kyle Gibson will all be deactivated Tuesday since none of the four are eligible to cross the Canadian border due to their vaccination statuses. Before the Toronto trip, the Phillies will wrap up their four-game series in St. Louis on Monday, and Realmuto will start at catcher and bat fifth in that contest. |
Jul 9 2022 | Realmuto isn't starting Saturday's game against the Cardinals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto started in the last six games and hit .238 with two homers, six RBI, three runs and a stolen base. |
Jul 6 2022 | Realmuto went 1-for-2 with a walk, a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 11-0 rout of the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: His big blow was a two-run shot off Erasmo Ramirez in the fifth inning that gave the Phillies a 6-0 lead. Realmuto is up to seven homers on the season, but he's gone yard in back-to-back games and four times in his last nine, a surge that has seen him hit .273 (9-for-33) with three steals, seven runs and 10 RBI. |
Jul 3 2022 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Cardinals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto continues to show impressive speed for a catcher, as he's logged eight steals in his last 27 contests. He also made some noise with his bat Sunday, swatting a two-run blast in the sixth inning to account for the last runs in the contest. Realmuto has gone 10-for-39 (.256) in his last 10 games, a slight improvement on his .242 season average. He's added a .688 OPS, six homers, 11 steals, 31 RBI, 38 runs scored, 11 doubles and two triples through 287 plate appearances. |
Jul 1 2022 | Realmuto is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will get a day off after he went 3-for-11 with an RBI, a run and a stolen base in the three game series against Atlanta. Garrett Stubbs will start at catcher and bat seventh in Friday's series opener. |
Jun 28 2022 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to Atlanta. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The backstop swiped his 10th bag of the year in the first inning off Charlie Morton and Travis d'Arnaud, marking the third time in his career Realmuto has reached double digits in steals. He needed only 66 games to reach that plateau this season, however, and the 31-year-old seems almost certain to break his previous career high of 13, set last year in 134 contests. His power numbers have taken a step backward, however, and he sports a .238/.315/.363 slash line with five homers, 29 RBI and 35 runs. |
Jun 26 2022 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He looks to be receiving some routine maintenance after catching in each of the Phillies' last eight games. Garrett Stubbs will check in behind the dish for Realmuto and form a battery with starting pitcher Kyle Gibson. |
Jun 25 2022 | Realmuto went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, a stolen base and two total runs scored in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Padres. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto took Padres starter Blake Snell deep in the fifth inning to open the scoring. In the sixth, the catcher walked, stole second and scored again on an Alec Bohm double. Realmuto has homered twice in the last three games to rediscover his power touch, and five of his nine stolen bases this season have come in June. He's added a .237/.316/364 slash line with 28 RBI and 35 runs scored in 65 contests. |
Jun 23 2022 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Padres. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto hit the second of the Phillies two sixth-inning blasts off Padres starter Joe Musgrove. The homer was Realmuto's first extra-base hit since June 12 and his first long ball since May 26 as he's struggled to generate much power lately. The catcher is slashing .240/.318/.358 with four homers, 27 RBI, 33 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 11 doubles and two triples through 258 plate appearances. |
Jun 17 2022 | Realmuto isn't starting the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Nationals, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto hit .250 with a double, four runs, two RBI and two stolen bases over the last six matchups and will be out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games. Garrett Stubbs will start behind the dish and bat ninth during Friday's matinee. |
Jun 15 2022 | Realmuto isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto started in the last four games and went 4-for-16 with a double, two runs, an RBI, two stolen bases, a walk and three strikeouts. Garrett Stubbs will draw the start behind the plate and bat ninth Wednesday. |
Jun 12 2022 | Realmuto went 0-for-3 with a steal in Saturday's victory over Arizona. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Although Realmuto went hitless Saturday, he was able to reach base on a walk and swipe his sixth bag of the year. The veteran catcher has seen his batting average drop over his last six games as he's gone hitless in four of them. He's slashing just .238/.315/.360 on the season, which is certainly not what the Phillies or fantasy managers were expecting from him this season. |
Jun 10 2022 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Diamondbacks. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto started the last eight games and will receive a breather after posting a .219/.278/.344 slash line during that stretch. Garrett Stubbs will take over behind the dish for Philadelphia. |
Jun 4 2022 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs and two RBI in a 7-2 win against the Angels on Saturday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto doubled home two runs and scored as part of a five-run first inning and added two-baggers in the second and eight, scoring again following the latter. The three-hit game was just the second for the 31-year-old and Realmuto's first with multiple extra-base hits as his .136 isolated power is on pace to be his lowest of any full season since 2016. His .260/.337/.396 slash line would be his worst marks since his rookie season. |
May 30 2022 | Realmuto will sit for Monday's game against the Giants. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto hits the bench as the Phillies play a day game following Sunday night's loss to the Mets. Garrett Stubbs will catch for Kyle Gibson. |
May 27 2022 | Realmuto will sit Friday against the Mets, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has handled a very heavy workload behind the plate as usual this season. His 37 starts at catcher lead the league, with only Sean Murphy sitting within three starts of that mark. Even Realmuto can't start every day, however, so he'll rest his legs Friday while Garrett Stubbs catches for Bailey Falter. |
May 22 2022 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will take a seat for the second Sunday in a row, ending a stretch of five consecutive starts for the 31-year-old. Garrett Stubbs will check in behind the plate in place of Realmuto. |
May 15 2022 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto started the first three games in Los Angeles and will receive a breather for the series finale after going 2-for-13 with a triple, a walk and a run scored. Garrett Stubbs will take over behind the plate and bat ninth. |
May 11 2022 | Realmuto isn't starting Wednesday against the Mariners, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will get a breather after he went 2-for-9 with two RBI and two strikeouts over the last two games. |

He'll get some rest for the nightcap, paving the way for Garrett Stubbs to pick up a start behind the dish. |
May 3 2022 | Realmuto went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 6-4 loss to Texas. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 31-year-old walked during the first inning and came around to score, and he also went deep off Matt Bush to lead off the eighth. Realmuto entered the contest 0-for-12 over his previous four contests, but he bounced back Tuesday with his second homer and sixth multi-hit game. |
Apr 26 2022 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a run and a stolen base in a 10-3 win Tuesday over the Rockies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto singled, stole second and scored in the four-run fourth inning. He started the game at catcher and moved to first base in the eighth inning. Tuesday was the three-time All-Star's first appearance at first base this season after making 16 appearances there last season. While he's yet to hit for much power, the 31-year-old has a solid .303 average and .343 OBP. With at least 10 homers in seven consecutive seasons, it's just a matter of time before the power stroke returns. |
Apr 19 2022 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in a 6-5 loss Tuesday in Colorado. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto led off the fourth and sixth innings with singles and came around to score both times. He added a double in the eighth. After starting the season 1-for-9, the three-time All-Star is 13-for-33 and has raised his batting average to .333 for the season. He's scored eight runs in 11 games, reaching base 17 times in those contests. |
Apr 15 2022 | Realmuto isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto drew starts in each of the last four games and went 8-for-16 with a homer, a double, three runs, two RBI and a stolen base. He'll get a breather while Garrett Stubbs starts behind the dish and bats eighth. |
Apr 12 2022 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 5-4 win over the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The backstop supplied the biggest blow in a five-run rally by the Phillies in the bottom of the eighth inning. Realmuto has had a bit of a slow start to April -- Monday's hit was only his second in 13 at-bats -- but he still figures to be the top fantasy catcher in the league by season's end. |
Apr 10 2022 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the A's, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto started behind the plate the first two games of the season and went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. The 31-year-old will rest in Sunday's series finale while Garrett Stubbs forms the battery with Zach Eflin in his place. |
Oct 3 2021 | Realmuto is not in the lineup Sunday at Miami. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will be on the bench Sunday as the Phillies close out 2021 against the Marlins. Unless he makes an appearances off the bench, the 30-year-old will finish the season with a .783 OPS, 17 homers, 73 RBI, 64 runs and 13 stolen bases in 133 games. Andrew Knapp will work behind the plate in Game 162. |
Oct 1 2021 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Friday against the Marlins, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto started the past six games and will take a seat Friday with the Phillies now eliminated from playoff contention. Andrew Knapp will start behind the plate Friday. |
Sep 23 2021 | Relamuto went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs and four RBI in a 12-6 win against the Pirates on Thursday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto entered the game in the sixth inning as a pinch hitter for Brad Miller and recorded hits in all three of his at-bats, singling in the sixth, swatting a two-run home run in the seventh and bringing home two more runs with an eighth-inning single. The All-Star backstop has enjoyed an excellent September featuring a .299/.349/.468 slash line with eight extra-base hits. |
Sep 22 2021 | Realmuto will start at catcher and bat cleanup Wednesday against the Orioles. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will bat out of the cleanup spot for the eighth game in a row after he went 2-for-4 with a pair of extra-base hits -- a triple and a double -- to go with a stolen base, two RBI and run in Tuesday's 3-2 win. Over the previous seven contests, he's slashing .310/.355/.552 with a home run, seven RBI and three stolen bases. |
Sep 17 2021 | Realmuto (elbow) will be in the lineup Friday against the Mets, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto's availability was in doubt after he was hit by a pitch on the left elbow Thursday, but he'll still be in the lineup for Friday's series opener in New York. The 30-year-old is 8-for-18 with a homer, a double, three walks, five RBI, four runs and two stolen bases across his past five games. |
Sep 16 2021 | Realmuto exited late in Thursday's game against the Cubs after being hit by a pitch in the left elbow and triceps area, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Joe Girardi described Realmuto as sore after the game, though X-rays did come back negative. Girardi was non-committal regarding Realmuto's availability to play Friday, so it's possible that Andrew Knapp starts behind the plate. Prior to exiting Thursday's contest, Realmuto had gone 1-for-4 with two RBI. |
Sep 15 2021 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two RBI and a stolen base in the win over the Cubs on Wednesday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The catcher returned to the lineup Wednesday after missing the last game. He drove in Ranger Suarez on a single in the fifth inning before launching a solo homer in the eighth. It was his first long ball since Aug. 22 and his 15th of the season. Over his last two contests, Realmuto has collected six hits in eight at-bats while driving in three runs. |
Sep 14 2021 | Realmuto isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Cubs due to right shoulder inflammation, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto dealt with a shoulder injury in late August, and the issue has flared up recently. However, manager Joe Girardi said the catcher received an injection after Sunday's game, and the team is hopeful that he'll be able to start against the Cubs on Wednesday. |
Sep 12 2021 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in Sunday's 5-4 loss to Colorado. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 30-year-old was the only Philadelphia batter to record multiple hits in the contest. The strong game snapped a 1-for-15 slump at the plate for the catcher. Realmuto has provided solid all-around production this year with a .262/.349/.434 slash line, 14 home runs, 60 RBI, 57 runs scored, 10 stolen bases and 23 doubles through 470 plate appearances. |
Sep 2 2021 | Realmuto (ankle/shoulder) will bat cleanup and play first base Thursday against the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has started just one of the Phillies' last four games while battling ankle and shoulder issues, and he had to leave that start early. He's advanced to the point where the Phillies are comfortable getting his bat back in the lineup, but he's not yet ready to catch. He should spend a fair amount of time at first base down the stretch with Rhys Hoskins out for the year with an abdominal injury. |
Aug 31 2021 | Realmuto (ankle/shoulder) remains absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has been banged up lately, missing Saturday's game with a shoulder issue and leaving Sunday's with ankle soreness. He missed Monday's game while nursing both injuries, and while the Phillies hoped he'd be back in the lineup Tuesday, he'll wind up missing at least one more game. Rafael Marchan will start behind the plate in his absence, while Matt Vierling starts at first base, the spot Realmuto is expected to occupy frequently down the stretch. |
Aug 30 2021 | Realmuto (ankle) will sit Monday against Washington. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto missed Saturday's game due to a shoulder issue and left Sunday's contest with a sore ankle. He'll get the day off to recover from both injuries, with Rafael Marchan starting behind the plate. The Phillies don't expect Realmuto to require a trip to the injured list, per Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. He could be available to pinch hit Monday and is expected to return to the lineup at first base Tuesday. |
Aug 29 2021 | Realmuto exited in the top of the sixth inning of Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks with a sore left ankle, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia. He went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run before departing. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With Rhys Hoskins (abdomen) shut down for the season, Realmuto picked up his first start of the season at first base Sunday and is expected to see more work at the position down the stretch. However, Realmuto's availability moving forward is now in question, after he fouled a ball off his ankle in an at-bat earlier in the series finale before eventually leaving the game. The Phillies will presumably send Realmuto for further evaluation before providing an update on his status heading into Monday's game in Washington. |
Aug 28 2021 | Realmuto isn't starting Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was initially slated to sit out Friday's contest but was added to the lineup after Andrew Knapp was placed on the COVID-19 injured list. Jean Segura revealed after Friday's game that Realmuto is dealing with a shoulder injury. However, manager Joe Girardi said that the 30-year-old is expected to start at first base Sunday, Green reports. |
Aug 27 2021 | Realmuto will see time at first base for the rest of the season with Rhys Hoskins (abdomen) on the injured list, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Hoskins has already been ruled out for the rest of the season, and a shift to first base will allow Realmuto to escape the everyday strain of catching while still keeping his bat in the lineup. It's unclear exactly how the Phillies plan to split the 30-year-old's playing time between the two positions, but he should remain a fixture in the lineup regardless of where he's playing in the field. Backup catcher Andrew Knapp should be the primary beneficiary when Realmuto is at first, while fill-in first baseman Brad Miller figures to see less time. However, Realmuto is out of the lineup completely for Friday's contest while Knapp starts at catcher. |

Aug 12 2021 | Realmuto passed his concussion tests Thursday and will be available off the bench against the Dodgers, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto took a pair of foul tips off his mask Wednesday and wound up leaving the game, but he appears to have avoided serious harm. While he's not in Thursday's lineup, he was probably due for an off day anyway, as he'd started six straight games behind the plate. |
Aug 11 2021 | Realmuto is being evaluated for a concussion after leaving Wednesday's loss to the Dodgers, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was removed from the contest after being struck in the mask by a pair of foul tips during the top of the first inning, so it's hardly a surprise he's being checked for a concussion. Andrew Knapp is poised to operate as Philadelphia's top catcher should Realmuto be forced to miss any time. |

Aug 2 2021 | Realmuto went 5-for-6 with two doubles, four RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Pirates. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto made his presence felt early in the game with an RBI single in the first, scoring Travis Jankowski, and he later added an RBI double in the fifth that scored Bryce Harper. The star catcher wasn't done for the day, though, and he chipped in with a two-run single in the eighth as well. This was one of the most complete individual performances in the entire season and it boosted Realmuto's average to a solid .278 mark since the beginning of July. He continues to be one of the most productive backstops in the entire league. |
Jul 29 2021 | Realmuto will sit for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Nationals, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto sits after going 1-for-3 with a solo homer in the first contest, providing the only run the Phillies would score in their 3-1 loss. The star backstop is hitting .269 with a .816 OPS, 10 homers and 39 RBI on the season. |

Jul 22 2021 | Realmuto isn't starting Thursday against Atlanta. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto had started each of the last five games and went 6-for-22 with a home run, a double, four RBI and two runs. Andrew Knapp will start behind the dish and bat eighth. |
Jul 19 2021 | Realmuto went 4-for-10 with a home run and four RBI between the Phillies' two games against the Marlins on Sunday. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Phillies and Marlins didn't play a true doubleheader Sunday, as the first contest was a resumption of Saturday's game, which was suspended in the top of the 10th inning due to inclement weather. With the game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 10th, Realmuto stepped up and provided a walkoff two-run home run, his ninth of the season. He then started behind the plate in Sunday's scheduled game and proceeded to rap out three base hits and drive in two more runs in the Phillies' 7-4 win. Realmuto has now reached base in each of his last 11 games, slashing .349/.429/.581 with two home runs and a stolen base over that stretch. |
Jul 16 2021 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was never likely to start both games of the twin bill, and he'll remain on the bench for Game 1. He should be back in the lineup for the nightcap, while Andrew Knapp starts behind the plate in the matinee. |
Jul 8 2021 | Realmuto went 0-for-2 with three walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Thursday's 8-0 win over the Cubs. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto's steal and run came in the second inning, as he darted home when Didi Gregorius stole second. The 30-year-old catcher has gone 5-for-21 (.238) with five walks, a home run, two RBI and seven runs scored through six games in July. Overall, Realmuto has a .261/.369/.437 slash line, eight homers, 31 RBI, 33 runs scored and five steals in seven attempts through 67 contests. |
Jul 5 2021 | Realmuto is on the bench for Monday's series opener against the Cubs, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 30-year-old went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday, snapping out of a 2-for-25 stretch in his previous six games. Switch-hitting Andrew Knapp will start at catcher Monday. |
Jul 4 2021 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 11-1 loss to the Padres. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Phillies were unable to generate much offensive production Sunday, but Realmuto provided the team's lone run with his solo blast in the bottom of the sixth. The 30-year-old had hit just .080 with four strikeouts across the six games leading up to Sunday's matchup, but he's now recorded extra-base hits in each of the last two contests. |

Jun 20 2021 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and a double in Sunday's 11-2 loss to San Francisco. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto did his best to carry the Phillies' offense Sunday, driving in the team's only two runs and collecting three of their four hits in the loss. It was his third homer of the month and first since June 8. The star catcher has seven home runs this season with 29 RBI and an .888 OPS. |
Jun 18 2021 | Realmuto isn't starting Friday's game against the Giants. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto had reached base safely in each of the last five games, and he went 5-for-20 with a double, three RBI, two runs, two walks and four strikeouts during that time. Andrew Knapp will take over at catcher and bat eighth. |

Since returning from his hand injury, the 30-year-old has slashed .304/.452/.478 with a home run, six RBI and five runs. |
May 29 2021 | Realmuto (hand) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was dealing with a bone bruise on his left hand that forced him to spend time on the shelf, but he'll return after a relatively brief stint on the injured list. Realmuto should reclaim his role as the primary catcher going forward, while Rafael Marchan was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move. |
May 21 2021 | Realmuto (hand) landed on the 10-day injured list Friday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Phillies held off on such a move for several days despite the fact that he hasn't played since Saturday. The transaction can only be backdated by three days, so Realmuto will still have to miss another full week. Andrew Knapp will be the primary catcher in his absence. |
May 20 2021 | Realmuto (hand) isn't starting Thursday's game against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has been dealing with a bone bruise on his left hand, and he'll be out of the lineup for a fourth consecutive game. Andrew Knapp will start behind the plate and bat seventh. |
May 19 2021 | Realmuto is dealing with a bone bruise on his left hand, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto is out of the lineup for a third consecutive game Wednesday against the Marlins, and manager Joe Girardi isn't yet sure whether the catcher will be available off the bench. Andrew Knapp is starting behind the plate and batting sixth. |
May 18 2021 | Realmuto (wrist) remains on the bench for Tuesday's game against the Marlins, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has been banged up lately, dealing with a bruised knee and an illness last week before injuring his left wrist Saturday. He didn't appear in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays and is evidently still not yet ready to go following Monday's off day. Andrew Knapp (side) will return to the lineup in his absence. The Phillies made several moves Tuesday which did not involve placing Realmuto on the injured list, however, which seemingly suggests they expect him back soon. |
May 16 2021 | Realmuto (wrist) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 30-year-old was removed from Saturday's game with an injured left wrist, and it's not much of a surprise to see him sitting out Sunday's series finale. Realmuto will now have two consecutive days to recover thanks to Monday's scheduled off day. Andrew Knapp will take over behind the plate for Philadelphia. |
May 15 2021 | Realmuto is dealing with a left wrist injury and could be held out of the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's been a rough week for the 30-year-old, as he suffered a knee bruise when hit by a foul ball, battled a non-COVID-19 illness and is now contending with the wrist issue. Manager Joe Girardi said he's "not sure" about Realmuto playing Sunday, so the catcher seems likely to be held out of the lineup. |
May 14 2021 | Realmuto (knee) was cleared to return from the COVID-19 injured list Friday and will bat cleanup and serve as the designated hitter against the Blue Jays. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto hit the COVID-19 injured list Thursday due to a stomachache and fever, though he tested negative for the virus, so those symptoms evidently belonged to a different illness. He's ready to go just one day later, though the knee bruise he suffered earlier in the week after getting struck by a foul ball may still be affecting him, as he's not yet ready to start behind the plate. |
May 13 2021 | Realmuto's (knee) placement on the COVID-19 injured list Thursday was not due to a positive test for the virus but instead due to an abundance of caution regarding what appears to be a non-COVID illness, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto is reportedly dealing with a stomach ache and fever, something which manager Joe Girardi noted wouldn't be much cause for concern during a normal season but which necessitates a trip to the COVID-19 injured list this year even without a positive test. Assuming Realmuto continues to test negative, he shouldn't miss much time, though he's not flying with the team for the weekend series in Toronto. That suggests it's likely he won't play again until Tuesday against the Marlins. The timing of the illness could certainly be worse for the Phillies, as Realmuto was already banged up after taking a foul ball off his knee Tuesday and may have been set to miss a couple more games even without the illness. |
May 12 2021 | Realmuto (knee) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Phillies will extend Realmuto a maintenance day after he took a foul ball off his left knee during Tuesday's 6-2 win. He was fortunate to escape without any structural damage, as he's instead managing a bruise and some soreness on the back of his knee. Andrew Knapp will fill in behind the dish Wednesday, but manager Joe Girardi noted that Realmuto isn't a candidate to land on the injured list and will be available off the bench in a pinch-hitting capacity, per Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia. |
May 11 2021 | Realmuto suffered a bruised muscle on the inside of his left knee during Tuesday's win over the Nationals and will be reevaluated Wednesday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 30-year-old was lifted for a pinch hitter during the eighth inning after a foul ball struck the inside of his knee while catching, but manager Joe Girardi doesn't believe a trip to the injured list will be necessary. Realmuto's status will be updated Wednesday, and he may end up taking it easy for a day or two. |
May 8 2021 | Realmuto went 3-for-5 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Friday's 12-2 rout of Atlanta. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The game was already well in hand when Realmuto took Carl Edwards deep in the eighth inning. The All-Star catcher had gone just 3-for-20 over his prior eight games, but on the season Realmuto still boasts a .308/.407/.516 slash line with four homers, two steals, 14 runs and 15 RBI through 30 contests. |
May 6 2021 | Realmuto will not start Thursday against the Brewers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has handled his usual heavy workload behind the plate this season. His 24 starts at catcher rank third among all backstops, and that's even with a brief absence last week due to a sore hand. Andrew Knapp will get the nod Thursday. |
May 3 2021 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 4-3 victory over the Brewers. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto launched a two-run blast deep to left field in the bottom of the first inning, putting the Phillies back on top 2-1. The 30-year-old backstop continues to see the ball well at the dish, now hitting .309 with three homers, 13 RBI and two stolen bases in 28 games. |
May 2 2021 | Realmuto (hand) is starting Sunday's game against the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto had been out of the lineup for the last two games due to left hand soreness, but he'll start behind the plate and bat fourth Sunday. He's gone 5-for-11 with a double, two RBI and a run across his last four games. |
May 1 2021 | Realmuto (hand) will sit for the second straight game Saturday against the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was scratched from Friday's lineup due to a sore left hand. The Phillies have yet to offer a clear timetable for his return to action. Andrew Knapp will make another start behind the plate in Realmuto's absence. |
Apr 30 2021 | Realmuto was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Mets due to left hand soreness, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was a late scratch Friday and was replaced behind the dish by Andrew Knapp. It's not yet clear whether Realmuto will be able to return to the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets. |
Apr 28 2021 | Realmuto isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Cardinals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto had gone 3-for-7 with a run and one RBI in the first two games of the series against the Cardinals. Andrew Knapp will take over behind the plate and bat seventh. |
Apr 23 2021 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a triple, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's loss to the Rockies. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto crossed the plate with the game's first run in the second inning after tripling to lead off the frame. He also singled and stole second base in the fourth and singled again in the seventh. The multi-hit game was his fourth of the campaign but his first since April 9. Despite a recent cold stretch, Realmuto is slashing an impressive .321/424/.536 overall this season. |
Apr 21 2021 | Realmuto isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Giants, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will get a breather for Wednesday's series finale after he went 2-for-12 with a run, one RBI and five strikeouts in the last four games. Andrew Knapp will take over behind the plate, batting sixth. |
Apr 16 2021 | Realmuto went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a strikeout in Friday's win over the Cardinals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto had gone just 2-for-12 with a double and four strikeouts in his last five games, but he provided some insurance Friday with his second home run of the season. The 30-year-old has posted a .961 OPS with two home runs, eight RBI and one stolen base in his first 13 games of the year. |
Apr 13 2021 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Andrew Knapp will catch Chase Anderson in the afternoon contest, but Realmuto should be back behind the plate for the nightcap, working in a battery with Aaron Nola. |
Apr 11 2021 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Braves. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto doubled to begin the second inning and somehow managed to safely steal third the very next at-bat. The 30-year-old has only topped more than 10 steals in a season once so the fact that he stole a base, let alone third base, was extremely unexpected. Realmuto has gotten off to a solid start at the plate, as he's slashing .333/.375/.533 with six RBI and four runs scored in 32 plate appearances. |
Apr 10 2021 | Realmuto isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto had started each of the last four games and went 5-for-16 with a home run, five RBI, three runs and four strikeouts during that time. Andrew Knapp will take his place behind the dish Saturday, batting seventh. |
Apr 7 2021 | Realmuto went 1-for-3 with a walk, a three-run home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: He took Jacob Barnes deep in the fifth inning to blow the game open. It was Realmuto's first homer of the year, and the star catcher has had a productive start to the campaign by slashing .333/.391/.571 through six games with six RBI. |
Apr 4 2021 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Braves. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Andrew Knapp will take over behind the plate to catch for starting pitcher Zach Eflin. Realmuto had limited spring at-bats due to a fractured right thumb, but he has shown little rust through two regular-season games, going 4-for-8 with two doubles. |
Apr 2 2021 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with one RBI and a double in Thursday's 3-2 win over Atlanta. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Catchers rarely hit in the cleanup spot, but Realmuto, arguably baseball's biggest offensive threat at the position, appears comfortable hitting behind Bryce Harper in the four-hole. A thumb injury delayed Realmuto's spring debut and limited him to 18 exhibition plate appearances, but he looked up to game speed and primed for a productive season. Realmuto is paid like MLB's best catcher, and Opening Day suggested he's fully prepared to justify the five-year deal. |
Mar 23 2021 | Realmuto (thumb) will catch and bat second Tuesday against Toronto, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Time is getting tight for Realmuto to get up to speed by the start of the regular season as he works his way back from the fractured thumb he suffered right before camp began. He was originally scheduled to make his spring debut Sunday against the Tigers but wound up delayed an additional two days due to general soreness. There still seems to be optimism that he'll be able to avoid a trip to the injured list, but he might need to be managed carefully early in the season due to his very abbreviated buildup. |
Mar 22 2021 | Realmuto (thumb) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was expected to make his spring debut Sunday against the Tigers but wound up getting scratched due to general soreness. As it turns out, he'll be debuting at least two days later than originally scheduled. Per Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer, he could be in the lineup Tuesday against Toronto. Time is getting quite tight for him to get up to speed by the start of the regular season, so he may need more days off than he's used to even if he avoids a trip to the injured list. |
Mar 21 2021 | Realmuto (thumb) was scratched from his scheduled spring debut Sunday against the Tigers due to general soreness, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The specific nature of the setback doesn't sound particularly worrisome, but it's still discouraging for Realmuto and those who drafted him. The Phillies don't appear to have lost their optimism that he'll be ready for Opening Day, but time is getting very tight if he's to be at something close to full speed when the regular season begins. |
Mar 19 2021 | Realmuto (thumb) participated in a simulated game Friday and could play in Grapefruit League action next week, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 30-year-old was cleared for full baseball activity last week and quickly progressed to taking part in simulated games. Realmuto still has nearly two weeks to prepare for Opening Day, so a return to game action next week should allow him to avoid the injured list for the start of the season. |
Mar 11 2021 | Phillies manager Joe Girardi said Thursday that Realmuto (thumb) was cleared to resume full baseball activities, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Girardi noted that Realmuto was able to make about 40 throws during a workout without incident, an encouraging sign for his chances of being ready to go when Opening Day arrives in three weeks. The veteran backstop is gradually expected to ramp up the intensity of his throwing program while also integrating more fielding and hitting drills into his workouts before potentially returning to game action at the tail end of the Phillies' exhibition slate. |
Mar 7 2021 | Realmuto (thumb) still expects to be ready to play on Opening Day, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto's cast on his fractured thumb was removed Friday. He hasn't been able to hit and throw since he suffered the injury, which occurred when he tried to block a pitch in the dirt a few days before camp officially opened, but he's been able to take part in some simulated action. Whether or not his optimism is shared by the team remains to be seen, but it sounds as if any absence to start the year will likely be a brief one. If he does wind up heading to the injured list, Andrew Knapp would step into a temporary starting role. |
Mar 5 2021 | Realmuto's cast on his fractured right thumb was removed Friday, though he's still wearing a splint, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto continues to make progress after breaking his thumb in mid-February. Removing his cast is the step the Phillies hoped he'd be able to take at this stage, which is certainly a positive sign, though the latest reports indicate that Realmuto still can't hit or throw, contradicting February reports which held that he was doing those things while wearing his cast. It sounds as if he has plenty of work left to do to prepare for the upcoming season, putting his readiness for Opening Day in some question. |
Mar 3 2021 | Realmuto (thumb) will undergo an X-ray at the end of the week to determine whether he can remove his cast, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has been dealing with a fractured right thumb since the start of spring training but has still been able to catch and hit while wearing his cast. He appears to be progressing well in his recovery so far, but more clarity on his status should be known once the results of his X-ray are revealed. |
Feb 20 2021 | Realmuto (thumb) has been able to catch and hit while wearing his cast, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Phillies certainly didn't want to see their star catcher start camp with a broken thumb, but there appears to be a real chance he'll be ready by Opening Day. The injury may have happened early enough for him to make a full recovery, especially as it doesn't appear to be significantly holding back his preseason preparation. Whether or not the issue has any lingering effects on his ability to hit up to his usual standards early in the season is a question that probably can't be answered until games begin, however. |
Feb 18 2021 | Manager Joe Girardi revealed Thursday that Realmuto recently suffered a fractured right thumb, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto's thumb will be immobilized for two weeks, and he'll be re-evaluated after that time. While the catcher will miss several spring games due to the injury, the Phillies are still hopeful that he'll be ready for Opening Day. Andrew Knapp, Rafael Marchan and Jeff Mathis should compete for the backup catcher job while Realmuto is sidelined. |
Feb 1 2021 | Realmuto feels 100 percent after recovering from the hip flexor strain he battled late in the season, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto missed 11 games with the issue in mid-September and spent time at first base and designated hitter after his return. Despite the fact that he was able to return before the end of the regular season, he indicated Monday that he didn't feel fully healthy until three or four weeks into the offseason. Now fully healed, the issue doesn't appear to be a significant cause for concern for the star catcher heading into his age-30 season. |

Jan 26 2021 | Realmuto agreed to a five-year, $115.5 million deal to return to the Phillies on Tuesday, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: There was no better player to fill the Realmuto-shaped hole in Philadelphia than Realmuto himself, so it makes sense that he and the Phillies were able to come to terms on a deal that suits both sides. Realmuto's average annual value of $23.1 million will be the highest ever for a catcher. It's hard to say the contract is undeserved, as he's been the top backstop in the league over the last several seasons. Heading into his age-30 season, Realmuto will presumably start declining sometime soon, but he showed no signs of doing so last season, hitting .266/.349/.491 with 11 homers and four steals in 47 games. He should remain a key piece of a decent lineup in a hitter-friendly park for the foreseeable future. |
Nov 11 2020 | Realmuto will reject his one-year, $18.9 million qualifying offer from the Phillies on Wednesday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was expected to reject the qualifying offer as he seeks a multi-year deal in free agency, but the team that signs him will now have to forfeit a draft pick as compensation. The 29-year-old had a career-best .840 OPS with 11 home runs and 32 RBI during the shortened 2020 season and figures to be one of the most appealing players on the open market. |
Nov 1 2020 | Realmuto was extended an $18.9 million qualifying offer by the Phillies on Sunday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will certainly decline the qualifying offer, but any team that signs him will now forfeit a draft pick as compensation, which could cost Realmuto a little money on the open market. However, as the clear top catcher in the game, he figures to be an appealing target for most competitive ball clubs this winter. He hit .266/.349/.491 with 11 home runs and four steals in 47 games in his age-29 season. |
Sep 23 2020 | Realmuto will start at first base and will bat cleanup Wednesday against the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has previously made four appearances at first base this season, but he'll be picking up his first start at the position Wednesday. Since Realmuto still not 100 percent healthy after recently missing a week and a half with a hip injury, the Phillies are reluctant to expose him to catching duties. Rhys Hoskins (elbow) is unlikely to return before Sunday's regular-season finale, so Realmuto could have the opportunity to make up to three more starts at the position after Wednesday. That may be enough to allow Realmuto to head into 2021 with eligibility at both catcher and first base in certain fantasy leagues. |
Sep 22 2020 | Realmuto will bat cleanup as the designated hitter in the second half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Previous reports indicated that Realmuto wouldn't be asked to play twice on one day immediately after returning from a nine-day absence with a hip injury. The Phillies' loss in the afternoon game appears to have given them a sense of urgency, however, so they'll push the star catcher to his limits Tuesday with their playoff hopes very much up in the air. |
Sep 21 2020 | Realmuto (hip) isn't in Monday's lineup against the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was initially on track to return Monday, but he isn't yet ready to serve as the catcher. Bryce Harper (back) will serve as the designated hitter Monday, so Realmuto will get at least one additional day to recover. However, he could be available as a pinch hitter if needed and could start one of Tuesday's games in the doubleheader, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. Andrew Knapp will start behind the plate. |
Sep 20 2020 | Realmuto (hip) won't be ready to catch Monday, and it's unclear whether he'll be able to serve as the designated hitter, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto reportedly made progress in his recovery Friday, but he wasn't available to pinch hit over the weekend. Manager Joe Girardi wasn't sure if he'd be able to return to the lineup Monday, even as the designated hitter. Andrew Knapp and Rafael Marchan should continue to start at catcher while Realmuto is unable to play the field. |
Sep 18 2020 | Realmuto (hip) made progress Friday and could return for Monday's series opener against the Nationals, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has already been ruled out for the Phillies' weekend series, but he could be on track for a return Monday as long as he doesn't experience any setbacks. Andrew Knapp should continue to serve behind the plate in Realmuto's absence. |
Sep 17 2020 | Realmuto (hip) won't play over the weekend, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto continues to deal with a hip issue, and it'll hold him out at least until Monday's matchup in Washington. Andrew Knapp will handle the catching duties until Realmuto is cleared to return. |
Sep 16 2020 | Realmuto (hip) could return by this weekend, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto hasn't appeared since leaving Saturday's game against the Marlins with hip discomfort, though he hasn't been placed on the injured list. If he is indeed able to return over the weekend, that decision will look like the correct one. Andrew Knapp has been the team's primary catcher in his absence. |
Sep 15 2020 | Realmuto (hip) remains on the bench Tuesday against the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto left Saturday's game against the Marlins with hip discomfort and hasn't played since. It's not clear when he's expected to return. Andrew Knapp starts behind the plate Tuesday. |
Sep 14 2020 | Realmuto (hip) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto left Saturday's game with hip discomfort and did not take part in either half of Sunday's doubleheader. The results of the MRI he underwent recently have yet to be released, but he evidently hasn't been cleared to start Monday. Rafael Marchan will make his big-league debut behind the plate in his absence. |
Sep 13 2020 | Realmuto (hip) will undergo an MRI, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto left Saturday's game against the Marlins with hip discomfort and wasn't in the lineup for either of the games in Sunday's twin bill. Manager Joe Girardi wasn't able to provide a timetable for his return following Sunday's doubleheader, but Realmuto's MRI could help determine the severity of the issue. |
Sep 12 2020 | Realmuto was removed from Saturday's win over the Marlins with hip discomfort, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 29-year-old went 0-for-4 with two runs and a walk before suffering the injury running to first base during the eighth inning. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, and Realmuto will be further evaluated Sunday. |
Sep 10 2020 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two RBI in Thursday's loss to Miami. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto kicked off the scoring in the contest with a run-scoring groundout in the first inning and contributed a solo homer in the fifth. The long ball was his 11th of the season, tops among MLB catchers. He also ranks first among backstops with 29 RBI while slashing .266/.354/.547. |
Sep 7 2020 | Realmuto went 1-for-3 with two walks, a home run, one RBI and three runs scored Monday against the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto took Erasmo Ramirez deep in the fifth inning to record his 10th homer of the season. He also came around to score on two other occasions, both time reaching base on free passes. For the season, Realmuto is now hitting .262/.347/.531 across 147 plate appearances. |
Sep 6 2020 | Realmuto is not in Sunday's lineup against the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will get a breather after appearing in the starting lineup for nine consecutive days. Andrew Knapp will take over behind the dish and bat seventh. |
Sep 3 2020 | Realmuto went 0-for-2 with two walks, a steal and a run scored Wednesday as the Phillies defeated the Nationals 3-0. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto went hitless on the day but still managed to make an impact offensively by drawing two walks and scoring the game-deciding run in the fourth inning. The two-time All-Star possesses a .263/.349/.535 slash line and is leading all catchers with nine home runs and 26 RBI. |
Aug 25 2020 | Realmuto went 1-for-5 with a three-run homer during Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 29-year-old's ninth home run didn't make it out by much, as it caromed off the top of the wall and landed just beyond the fence for the three-run shot. Realmuto is producing some of the best numbers of his career with a .289/.340/.622 slash line, nine homers and 25 RBI through 24 games. |
Aug 20 2020 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto will head to the bench for the second half of Thursday's twin bill after going hitless in the first game. Andrew Knapp is starting at catcher and hitting eighth in Game 2. |
Aug 14 2020 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, three RBI and two strikeouts in Friday's win against the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has been dominant over the past two games with three home runs and seven RBI, and he helped lead the Phillies to the win Friday. After smacking a career-high 25 home runs last season, Realmuto has eight home runs with a 1.101 OPS and 20 RBI through 14 games this year. |
Aug 13 2020 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with two two-run home runs in Thursday's 11-4 loss to the Orioles. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto gave Philadelphia a 2-0 lead with his homer off Thomas Eshelman in the fourth inning and later added another two-run shot off David Hess in the eighth. The stud backstop now has seven home runs and 17 RBI in just 48 at-bats. The catcher is slashing .292/.358/.729 heading into the weekend series against the Mets. |
Aug 10 2020 | Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and three RBI in Monday's 13-8 win over the Braves. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The backstop homered in three straight games last week and is now up to five homers in just 39 plate appearances. Realmuto was in a clear tier by himself atop the catcher pool during draft season and is only separating himself further, even if he's yet to attempt a stolen base. |
Aug 9 2020 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Braves. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto is carrying a three-game homer streak and six-game hit streak, but he'll take a seat for the matinee in Sunday's twin bill. He should be in the lineup for Game 2. Andrew Knapp will start behind the plate and bat ninth in Game 1. |
Aug 8 2020 | Realmuto went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 5-0 win over Atlanta. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: His fourth-inning blast off Kyle Wright opened the scoring, and gave Jake Arrieta and the Philly bullpen all the offense they would need. Realmuto continues to light it up to begin the season, going 9-for-27 (.333) through seven games with four homers and nine RBI. |
Aug 6 2020 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Thursday's win over the Yankees. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto got the Phillies off to a strong start with a three-run blast off Jordan Montgomery in the first inning. He singled and came around to score another run in the third frame. Through six games, the backstop is slashing .333/.385/.708 with three homers and eight RBI. |
Aug 5 2020 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Yankees, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was never expected to start both ends of the twin bill, and he started the matinee and went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, two RBI and two walks. Andrew Knapp will work behind the plate in the nightcap, batting ninth. |
Jul 25 2020 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Saturday's win over Miami. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: With the Phillies sitting on a two-run lead in the seventh inning, Realmuto crushed a splitter to center field to break the game open. The 29-year-old should rank among the best offensive catchers in the game again this season after compiling a combined 46 home runs and 157 RBI over his previous two campaigns. |
Jul 15 2020 | Realmuto expects to be able to handle a very heavy workload this season, given the shortened schedule and the universal designated hitter, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The catcher believes he can catch at least 50 games and could serve as the designated hitter or first baseman in the rest. Players intending to play every day is hardly a rare occurrence, though Realmuto is known for his heavy workloads. No one spent more innings behind the plate than he did last season. |
Mar 6 2020 | Realmuto is a candidate to lead off this season, at least until Andrew McCutchen (knee) returns from the injured list, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto batted everywhere from second to fifth last season. A catcher leading off would certainly be unusual, but Realmuto has good speed for the position, stealing at least eight bases in four of the last five seasons. His .328 on-base percentage from last season is hardly an elite mark for a leadoff man, but he's been as high as .343 in that category in the past. If he does move up to the leadoff spot, expect a few extra runs, offset by a slight drop in RBI. Scott Kingery, Adam Haseley and Roman Quinn were also mentioned by manager Joe Girardi as options for the role. |
Feb 23 2020 | Realmuto (knee) is in the lineup for Sunday's spring game against the Pirates, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto's 2019 campaign came to a close when he underwent surgery to address a meniscus issue in his right knee, but his recovery went as planned over the offseason, and he is ready to jump into action Sunday. Realmuto will start behind the plate and hit second in the Phillies' batting order. |
Feb 20 2020 | Realmuto (knee) will make $10 million in 2020 after losing his arbitration case, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto was seeking $12.4 million, though his $10 million payday is still an arbitration record for a catcher, per Feinsand. The backstop hit .275/.328/.493 with 25 home runs and nine stolen bases in his first year with the Phillies. He underwent season-ending knee surgery last September, though it isn't expected to affect his availability for the start of the season. |
Sep 25 2019 | Realmuto will undergo season-ending surgery Friday to clean up the meniscus in his right knee, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has been shut down for the remainder of the season a day after the Phillies were eliminated from the playoffs. Manager Gabe Kapler confirmed there is no long-term concern regarding the injury; Realmuto should be ready to go by the time spring training rolls around. The backstop impressed in his first season with the Phillies, appearing in a career-high 145 games while slashing .275/.328/.493 with 25 home runs, 83 RBI and nine steals. Look for Andrew Knapp and Deivy Grullon to see time behind the dish in place of Realmuto. |
Sep 24 2019 | Realmuto (knee) remains on the bench for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Phillies' loss in the afternoon game eliminated them from playoff contention, so it's hardly surprising that Realmuto won't be rushed back from a sore knee. Whether or not he returns at any point over the final week of the season remains to be seen. |
Sep 23 2019 | Realmuto's absence from the lineup Monday in Washington is due to a sore right knee, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The injury helps explain why the catcher finds himself on the bench for the second time in four games. He'll undergo an MRI on Monday, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports, though he's not particularly concerned about the severity of the issue. Regardless of the results of that test, there's a chance the Phillies don't bother bringing Realmuto back this season, as there's little reason to risk further injuring a key player with the team effectively out of the playoff race. |
Sep 20 2019 | Realmuto was held out of Friday's lineup in order to rest, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Phillies will attempt to keep pace in the playoff race Friday night without their starting catcher playing a full nine innings, but manager Gabe Kapler said it was simply time for Realmuto to take a break after starting the last nine games. Realmuto figures to play plenty the rest of the way, but he could get another day or two off with the Phillies playing 10 games in nine days following Friday's contest. |
Sep 12 2019 | Realmuto went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's victory over the Braves. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The 28-year-old catcher extended Philadelphia's lead with a two-run homer in the eighth inning. The long ball was his 25th of the season, good for fourth among all catchers, while he's slashing .279/.332/.504. |
Sep 10 2019 | Realmuto went 1-for-3 with a walk and solo home run Tuesday against the Braves. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto took Max Fried deep in the first inning to record his 24th home run of the campaign. He's hit the ball of late, and this performance extended his hitting streak to seven games. In that span, he's smacked four home runs while recording nine RBI and seven runs scored. For the season, Realmuto has a solid .282/.333/.504 line across 136 games. |
Sep 8 2019 | Realmuto is not in the lineup Sunday against the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Realmuto has been on a tear over his last five games, going 10-for-22 with three homers and eight RBI. He'll sit Sunday, with Andrew Knapp filling in behind the plate. |
Sep 7 2019 | Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBI in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Mets. | ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: His two-run blast off Edwin Diaz in the ninth inning looked like it would send the game to extra innings, until Nick Vincent walked in the winning run in the bottom of the frame. Realmuto's .830 OPS is a near match for the .824 mark he posted with the Marlins last year, but predictably, the move to the Phillies has boosted his counting stats -- his 23 homers, 78 RBI and 86 runs are all career highs already. |
Sep 2 2019 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds. | |

Jul 24 2018 | Realmuto went 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBI in Tuesday's win over the Braves. | Realmuto also added a sacrifice fly to help bring his season RBI total to 49. The 27-year-old has been a consistent force this season with a .304/.529/.884 slash line with 13 home runs in 74 games. |
Jul 12 2018 | Realmuto was activated from the paternity leave list Thursday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto should be back in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Phillies after being away from the team for the past three days due to the birth of his child. In a corresponding move, Chad Wallach was optioned to the minors. |
Jul 9 2018 | Realmuto was placed on the paternity list Monday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Players on the paternity list miss between one and three games, so Realmuto will be back Friday against the Phillies at the latest. Chad Wallach was called up to take his place on the roster and will back up Bryan Holaday until Realmuto returns. |
Jul 8 2018 | Realmuto went 5-for-6 with a pair of runs and three RBI to help the Marlins to a 10-2 victory over the Nationals on Sunday. | Realmuto continued his red-hot hitting with this monster five-hit effort that saw him drive in three of Miami's 10 runs. He's now got a brilliant .317/.368/.551 slash line, and seems to have firmly established himself as one of the best-hitting catchers in baseball coming off last year's solid campaign where he logged a .783 OPS. |
Jul 7 2018 | Realmuto went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Nationals. | The 27-year-old has hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games and he's already gone yard twice in July, bringing his total to 12 home runs this season. He's not running like he did in past years, but Realmuto is right up there with Buster Posey and Willson Contreras as one of the best pure hitters at the position. |
Jul 4 2018 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Rays, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. | To little surprise, Realmuto will head to the bench for the matinee contest after he played all 16 innings -- including 12 behind the plate -- in Tuesday's 9-6 loss. Bryan Holaday will draw the nod at catcher in the series finale, working in a battery with starting pitcher Jose Urena. |
Jul 1 2018 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a two strikeouts in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Mets. | Realmuto was the only Marlin to manage multiple hits on the afternoon, as Miami's offense really couldn't find a groove Sunday. The 27-year-old backstop is now batting .309 on the year with 32 extra-base hits and 35 RBI. Even in a relatively weak Marlins lineup, Realmuto remains one of the league's best fantasy catchers. |
Jun 29 2018 | Realmuto (wrist) will handle the catching duties against the Mets on Friday, Matthew DeFranks of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. | Realmuto was forced to miss the past four games with a sore wrist/hand but as expected, the 27-year-old will return to the lineup for Friday's series opener. He will bat third in the order and catch Sandy Alcantara. |

Jun 28 2018 | Realmuto (wrist) will likely return to the lineup for Friday's game against the Mets, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Prior to Thursday's tilt, Realmuto said that his wrist was doing much better and anticipates catching Friday after sitting out every game of the series against Arizona. Across 57 games this year, he's slashing .308/.367/.549 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI. |
Jun 28 2018 | Realmuto (wrist) is out of the lineup against Arizona on Thursday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto will miss a fourth straight contest due to a sore wrist/hand after being hit by a foul ball this past weekend. At this point, there has been no word on a potential stint on the disabled list, so continue to consider him day-to-day going into Friday's series with the Mets. |
Jun 27 2018 | Realmuto (wrist) was scratched from Wednesday's lineup, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. | It appeared Realmuto was ready to return to action after sitting out the previous two days, as he was listed in the Marlins' initial starting nine. However, it turns out he is not ready to play just yet. Derek Dietrich will get the start at first base in Realmuto's place. |
Jun 27 2018 | Realmuto (wrist) is back in the lineup Wednesday against Arizona, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto sat for two games after getting struck in the hand by a foul ball Sunday. He's not yet back behind the plate but is playing third base and batting third against the Diamondbacks. |
Jun 26 2018 | Realmuto (hand) is not in the lineup Tuesday for the second day in a row, according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald. | Realmuto will need at least two days to rest and recover after being struck by a foul ball Sunday. Bryan Holaday will get a second straight start behind the plate Tuesday in Realmuto's absence. |
Jun 25 2018 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks, according to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com. | Realmuto posted a robust 1.100 OPS over his last 13 games, but he will get a day off after starting nine games in a row, seven of which came behind the plate. Bryan Holaday will fill in at catcher Monday night. |
Jun 25 2018 | Realmuto is being held out Monday due to soreness in his wrist/hand area, according to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com. | Realmuto was struck in the hand area by a foul ball during Sunday's contest, so he was held out of Monday's lineup in order to rest and recover. The report indicates Realmuto could get a couple days off, so while he does not appear to be dealing with anything serious, he could miss further action. |
Jun 23 2018 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a walk and a grand slam in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Rockies. | The catcher now has 10 homers and 31 RBI through 56 games to accompany his stellar .308/.365/.548 slash line. Realmuto has far and away been the Marlins' best player this season, and he should be a shoo-in for his first All-Star Game appearance next month. |
Jun 23 2018 | Realmuto went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored in Friday's loss to the Rockies. | The catcher started off a series in Coors Field with a bang, but he doesn't need altitude to produce big numbers -- Realmuto's slashing .356/.356/.667 over his last 11 games with three homers, seven RBI and 10 runs, pushing his OPS on the year back up to .895. |
Jun 16 2018 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with two homers and four RBI in Saturday's win over the Orioles. | Realmuto tormented Orioles starter Alex Cobb, producing an RBI single off the right-hander in the first inning before taking Cobb deep in the third (two-run) and sixth (solo) innings. The 27-year-old is now hitting an impressive .309/.371/.546 with nine homers, 26 RBI and 32 runs on the season, putting him near the top of every major hitting category among catchers. |
Jun 14 2018 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Thursday against the Giants, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | With the Marlins playing a day game after a night game, Realmuto will receive a breather following six consecutive starts behind the plate. Bryan Holaday will relieve Realmuto at catcher and bat eighth in the series finale. |
Jun 12 2018 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and two RBI in Monday's win over the Giants. | The catcher snapped out of an 0-for-11 mini-slump in his prior three games in impressive fashion, launching his seventh homer of the season. Realmuto now sports a .301/.369/.528 slash line on the season, adding more than 100 points to last year's career-high OPS. |
Jun 7 2018 | Realmuto is out of the lineup against St. Louis on Thursday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto will get a standard day off after starting the past eight games, including going 3-for-4 with three extra-base hits during Wednesday's tilt. In his place, Bryan Holaday will catch Trevor Richards and bat eighth. |
May 28 2018 | Realmuto is out of Monday's lineup against the Padres, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | The Marlins aren't trotting out a very fierce lineup against lefty Eric Lauer, with Bryan Holaday starting behind the dish and hitting eighth while Brian Anderson moves to the No. 2 spot in the lineup. Despite a lack of lineup protection, Realmuto is hitting .323/.380/.546 with six home runs and one stolen base in 130 at-bats this season. |
May 23 2018 | Realmuto went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Mets. | It's his third three-hit performance in his last 10 games. Realmuto now sports a .286/.342/.471 slash line through 18 games in May with two homers, seven RBI and eight runs, and he should remain a fixture near the top of a Marlins batting order that otherwise lacks consistent run producers. |
May 19 2018 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Braves, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto was out of the lineup Thursday as well, but the Marlins don't have an off day until next Thursday. Bryan Holaday will take over behind the plate and bat eighth for Miami. |
May 17 2018 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Thursday against the Dodgers, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto was behind the plate Wednesday night for a sixth straight game, so with the two sides concluding their three-game set with a matinee tilt Thursday, Marlins manager Don Mattingly decided it was time to give his top backstop a breather. Bryan Holaday will handle catching duties in the series finale, working as the batterymate for Caleb Smith. |
May 16 2018 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers. | It's his second three-hit performance in the last four games. Realmuto is in a groove right now at the plate, posting a .292/.346/.438 slash line through 12 games in May, but a tepid Marlins offense around him has limited the catcher's overall production -- he has one homer, three RBI and six runs during that stretch. |
May 12 2018 | Realmuto went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Braves. | Realmuto doubled in the first, hit a solo shot in the third and got an RBI single in the fourth. This was the backstop's seventh multi-hit game, bringing his average up to .325 on the season. Realmuto's .954 OPS also leads all MLB catchers. With five home runs in 20 games, the 27-year-old is well on pace to surpass his total of 17 from last year. |
May 9 2018 | Realmuto is out of the lineup against the Cubs on Wednesday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto will receive a rare day off following 15 straight starts as Bryan Holaday gets the nod behind the plate for Wednesday's series finale. Expect Realmuto back in the lineup Thursday. |
May 7 2018 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with two walks, a double and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Reds. | The catcher is the latest player to get a look at the top of the Marlins' order, and while Realmuto's .326 career OBP isn't ideal for a leadoff hitter, his .328/.406/.557 slash line through 16 games to begin 2018 makes him one of the few viable candidates available to manager Don Mattingly. If Realmuto sticks in the role, he'll have a chance to top last season's career-best 68 runs, even in an offense as weak as Miami's. |
May 1 2018 | Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Monday's win over the Phillies. | He's now hit safely in nine straight games and 10 of 11 since coming off the disabled list, giving Realmuto a robust .357/.426/.667 slash line. He'll cool down eventually, but his consistent spot near the top of the Marlins' order should allow the 27-year-old to remain one of the few reliable fantasy assets in the team's lineup. |
Apr 25 2018 | Realmuto blasted two home runs and drove in three in a 2-for-6 game Wednesday against the Dodgers. | Realmuto has absolutely mashed since coming off the disabled list April 17. He has four home runs in just seven games and now owns a .385/.448/.846 line in the early going. Obviously Realmuto will come down to Earth eventually, but the 27-year-old should be rounding into his prime and hit a respectable .278/.332/.451 with a career high 17 home runs last season. Realmuto has steadily improved since his call-up in 2015, and at this point he could be the best hitter in this bare-bones Marlins lineup. |
Apr 25 2018 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers. | Realmuto took Dodgers' starter Kenta Maeda deep in the third inning for his second home run of the year. After starting the season on the disabled list, the backstop has come out swinging, going 8-for-20 in six games with five RBI and five runs scored. Realmuto hit .278 last year with 17 home runs and 65 RBI. |
Apr 23 2018 | Realmuto went 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Brewers. | He's off to a good start since coming off the disabled list, going 5-for-12 in four games with a homer, four RBI and four runs. Realmuto's hitting second for the Marlins, and while their lineup is among the worst in the majors, that spot should still provide the 27-year-old catcher with plenty of run-producing opportunities. |
Apr 21 2018 | Realmuto is not in the lineup Saturday against the Brewers, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto had started the Marlins' first three games since returning from the disabled list with a back contusion. He went 3-for-10 with a home run in those three games. He'll get a day off Saturday, with Bryan Holaday starting in his place. |
Apr 18 2018 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBI in Tuesday's win over the Yankees. | The catcher wasted no time in making his mark after coming off the disabled list. Realmuto hit fifth in the order behind Justin Bour in his season debut, and while that's not an ideal spot when it comes to run production in a weak Marlins lineup, the 27-year-old still has plenty of fantasy value after slugging a career-high 17 homers in 2017. |
Apr 17 2018 | Realmuto (back) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Tuesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. He is starting at catcher and batting fifth against the Yankees, according to Frisaro. | Realmuto has been sidelined all season with a back contusion, but he's been cleared to return after getting through a minor-league rehab game over the weekend with no issues. The backstop will immediately settle into the heart of the Marlins' order, as he's hit a respectable .290 over the past two seasons while also contributing 28 homers and 20 stolen bases over that stretch. Chad Wallach was optioned to the minors in a corresponding move. |
Apr 16 2018 | Realmuto (back) could return Tuesday against the Yankees, Craig Davis of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. | Realmuto has been out since the start of the season with a back contusion. He is with the team Monday in New York but wasn't activated prior to Monday's game. He'll be evaluated by the team and could be back Tuesday. The 27-year-old has hit .290 over the past two seasons, and his 20 stolen bases are eight more than any other catcher over that time span. |
Apr 16 2018 | Realmuto (back) went 3-for-3 with a home run and a double in a rehab game Sunday for High-A Jupiter in the club's 18-13 win over Daytona. | The ball was flying out of the yard Sunday in Daytona, as Realmuto hit one of the Florida State League-record 11 home runs the two sides combined for on the afternoon. It's expected that Realmuto will make at least one more appearance with Jupiter before being activated from the 10-day disabled list, likely at some point during the Marlins' four-game series in Milwaukee that begins Thursday. |
Apr 15 2018 | Realmuto (back) will likely rejoin the Marlins during their upcoming road trip, but manager Don Mattingly is unsure whether it will be in New York or Milwaukee, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | Miami has a two-game set in New York on Monday and Tuesday, and then a four-game series in Milwaukee to close out the week, and it sounds like Realmuto will be back at some point during that stretch. Realmuto began a rehab assignment with High-A Jupiter on Saturday. He is a risky start in leagues with weekly lineups, as he could play as many as four or five games, and as few as one, or none. |
Apr 13 2018 | Realmuto (back) will embark on a rehab assignment with High-A Jupiter on Saturday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto made his return to game action Wednesday at extended spring training, but he'll get his first taste of action with a full-season affiliate this weekend. No word as to how long he'll stay with the Hammerheads has come forth, but it seems like he'll be back with the Marlins sometime next week. |
Apr 11 2018 | Realmuto (back) got six at-bats as a DH in Tuesday's extended spring training game Tuesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | It was his first game action since being shut down March 11 with a bone bruise in his back. Once Realmuto is able to catch in extended spring, expect him to spend a couple of games with a full-season affiliate to complete his rehab assignment before joining the Marlins some time next week. |
Apr 10 2018 | Realmuto (back) could return Tuesday for the beginning of the Marlins' next road trip, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. "He's feeling great, and kind of champing at the bit," manager Don Mattingly said. | The catcher hasn't started a rehab assignment yet, but the training staff has had to hold Realmuto back from doing too much in his drills. He likely won't need to much time in the minors once he's cleared for game action, but a more realistic date for his return to the big-league lineup still appears to be April 19 in Milwaukee. |
Apr 3 2018 | Realmuto (back) will begin his rehab assignment Wednesday at High-A Jupiter, Craig Mish of Sirius XM reports. | Realmuto is working his way back from a back contusion suffered in mid-March. Early reports indicated that he would miss the first two or three weeks of the season. He's now targeting a return on April 19 or 20, which would put him right on the three week mark. Chad Wallach and Bryan Holladay will continue to split catching duties in his absence. |
Apr 2 2018 | Realmuto (back) has resumed catching drills, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto continues to slowly work his way back from a back contusion that forced him to open the season on the disabled list. While the backstop's progress is encouraging, he remains a couple of weeks away from returning to action. In the meantime, Chad Wallach and Bryan Holaday will continue to split time behind the dish until Realmuto is healthy. |
Mar 31 2018 | Realmuto will likely miss the first two or three weeks of the 2018 season while recovering from a back contusion, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | He has yet to swing a bat since suffering the injury during a Grapefruit League game March 11. Realmuto has played catch over the past couple weeks, but manager Don Mattingly doesn't want to rush the 27-year-old into action until he's fully operational. In his absence, Chad Wallach has started the first two games of the season while Tomas Telis and Bryan Holaday are also on the active roster. |
Mar 27 2018 | Realmuto (back) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | It appears Realmuto will indeed open the 2018 season on the disabled list as he continues to nurse a bone bruise in his back. While he's making solid progress, the Marlins don't want to rush the stud catcher back, especially considering they won't be competing this season. At this point it doesn't sound like Realmuto will need too much time on the shelf, but a clearer return date should start to materialize as he continues to ramp up activities. In the meantime, Tomas Telis will serve as the Marlins' primary backstop. |
Mar 24 2018 | Realmuto (back) will not be ready for Opening Day and could begin the season on the disabled list, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | According to manager Don Mattingly, it's "highly likely" that he will land on the DL, while J.T. Riddle (shoulder) is in the exact same position. There should be a more definitive answer to his timetable in the coming days, but either way, expect Tomas Telis to start the season as Miami's catcher. |
Mar 19 2018 | Realmuto (back) is scheduled to play catch Monday and remains on track to be ready for Opening Day, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | The backstop is healing a little slower than anticipated after sustaining a lower-back contusion March 11, but the Marlins believe he'll be able to return to the Grapefruit League lineup soon and get in enough at-bats before spring training ends. If his throwing session Monday goes without a hitch, Realmuto could add more baseball activities to his ledger in the next few days before the Marlins clear him to catch in games. |
Mar 18 2018 | Realmuto (back) isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Yankees, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto has missed the past week of Grapefruit League action with a lower-back contusion, but the injury isn't believed to be anything that will put his status for Opening Day in jeopardy. The Marlins have already been easing Realmuto back into baseball activities since he suffered the injury March 11, so it appears likely that the 27-year-old will be back behind the plate within a few days. |
Mar 14 2018 | Realmuto (back) said Wednesday that he's hopeful to resume baseball activities in the next day or two, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | The Marlins have been taking it easy on Realmuto after he suffered a lower-back contusion during Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Yankees, but there's no concern about the catcher's status for Opening Day. With Realmuto expecting his bruising to subside by the weekend, he should be able to take part in batting practice and positional drills in the coming days and potentially return to exhibition action at some point next week. The backstop has gone 5-for-22 with one home run and three RBI at the dish this spring. |
Mar 13 2018 | Manager Don Mattingly said he's confident Realmuto (back) will be ready for Opening Day, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto suffered a lower-back contusion over the weekend after colliding with Gleyber Torres on a pickoff play, but fortunately the issue doesn't appear to be anything that will keep him sidelined for too long. Mattingly noted the backstop will get a few more days to rest as he waits for the soreness to subside, but it sounds like the Marlins are simply being cautious with their star catcher. Consider him day-to-day for the time being. |
Mar 11 2018 | Realmuto exited Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Yankees with a lower-back contusion, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto -- who just returned to the lineup after missing time with a knee bruise -- suffered the injury when he collided with Gleyber Torres on a pickoff play in the fourth inning. The Marlins will surely tread cautiously with their prized catcher, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Realmuto held out of action for as long as it takes him to return to 100 percent health. We'll await word from the Marlins with regards to his recovery timeline. |
Mar 11 2018 | Realmuto (knee) will catch and bat second Sunday for the Marlins in a Grapefruit League game against the Yankees, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Tomas Telis is scheduled to come on and replace Realmuto behind the plate midway through the contest, but that's standard procedure for spring-training games rather than as a result of any concern the Marlins have about Realmuto's health. The backstop looks to be fine following two days of rest after taking a foul ball off his left knee Thursday. |
Mar 9 2018 | Realmuto was scratched from Friday's lineup due to a left knee contusion, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | It's unclear when Realmuto suffered what sounds like a minor injury, but he will sit out the Grapefruit League contest. Tomas Telis will start behind the dish and hit fifth in his place. There had been a lot of trade rumors surrounding Realmuto a few weeks ago, but as nothing developed on that front and teams are in full swing this spring, it would be surprising if he were traded before the start of the season. Look for him to hit in the middle of a very poor Marlins lineup all season. He should be considered day-to-day. |
Mar 9 2018 | Realmuto will remain sidelined from Friday's spring game after taking a foul ball of his left knee during Thursday's contest, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto could return to the lineup as soon as Saturday's game against the Phillies, which signals that this is just a minor injury for the 26-year-old. Tommy Telis entered Friday's lineup in his absence. |
Feb 11 2018 | The Astros have engaged in trade talks for Realmuto, Craig Mish of SiriusXM reports. | Houston is reportedly considering Miami's request of outfield prospect Kyle Tucker, who currently is the second-ranked prospect in the Astros organization per Rotowire. The Astros appear to be well-stocked at catcher with Brian McCann, Evan Gattis and Max Stassi, but Gattis is expected to take on a greater role as the designated hitter while Stassi has just 89 plate appearances at the MLB level over five seasons. The World Series champions may not be comfortable heading into 2018 with such limited MLB experience backing up the 34-year-old McCann. If traded, Realmuto's fantasy value will take a hit, as he would move from the starter in Miami to the primary backup in Houston. |
Feb 2 2018 | Realmuto will make $2.9 million in 2018 after losing his arbitration case, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports. | Realmuto proposed a figure of $3.5 million. The catcher is set for his fourth season as the primary catcher for Miami, and although he didn't maintain his batting average from 2016, he did end up with better slugging numbers last season. In total, he compiled a slash line of .278/.332/.451 with 17 home runs and 65 RBI in 141 games, while also sprinkling in eight stolen bases. He should have solid value heading into this upcoming season, although his RBI numbers may come down a tad given the state of the club's current roster. |
Sep 30 2017 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Saturday against the Braves, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | He has started seven of the last eight games, hitting .346/.433/.423 in 26 at-bats over that stretch. A.J. Ellis is starting at catcher and hitting seventh. |
Sep 27 2017 | Realmuto is out of the lineup against the Rockies on Wednesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto will receive a standard day off following five straight starts, including an 0-for-3 day at the plate during Tuesday's loss. In his place, A.J. Ellis draws the catching assignment. |
Sep 20 2017 | Realmuto is not in the lineup against the Mets on Wednesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto will receive a standard day off after going 3-for-5 with one home run and a double during Tuesday's comeback victory. In his place, AJ Ellis sets up behind the plate to catch Jose Urena. |
Sep 19 2017 | Realmuto went 3-for-5 with a double and a walkoff solo homer against the Mets on Tuesday. He scored two runs. | Although Realmuto is currently sitting on what's easily a new career-high homer total, he'd gone 21 straight appearances without one before this little breakout, a span in which he hit just .209/.244/.326 with a 2:21 BB:K. The big night may serve to get him going again, so Realmuto's fantasy owners can only hope that he bounces back to showing off his strong hit tool and decent pop in short order. |
Sep 18 2017 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto will get the day off after starting four straight games behind the dish. Tomas Telis will start at catcher in his place, batting second. |
Sep 13 2017 | Realmuto is out of the lineup against the Phillies on Wednesday. | Realmuto retreats to the bench following eight straight starts, including a two-hit game with a pair of doubles during Tuesday's loss. In his place, AJ Ellis will handle the catching duties. |
Sep 11 2017 | Realmuto went 4-for-6 with a double, a run scored and two RBI in Sunday's extra-inning loss to the Braves. | With Dee Gordon getting a breather, Realmuto hit leadoff for the Marlins and gave the team's slugging outfielders plenty of run-producing opportunities. The 26-year-old catcher is now 10-for-28 (.357) over the last six games, pushing his OPS on the season up to a career-high .780. |
Sep 3 2017 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Sunday against the Phillies, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto has made six straight starts, alternating between first base and catcher over the last four games. He'll ride the pine for the series finale, however, as A.J. Ellis will get the nod behind the plate, while Tomas Telis draws the start at first base. Realmuto was 1-for-5 at the plate Saturday, though he did help fantasy owners by stealing two bases. |
Aug 30 2017 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple in Wednesday's 4-0 loss to the Nationals. | He was the only Marlin to have much success against Stephen Strasburg, but Strasburg had the last laugh in the ninth inning when he got Realmuto to ground out with a runner on first base to help preserve his shutout. The performance snapped a 5-for-41 skid (.122) over his last 10 games, and it's perhaps not a coincidence that Realmuto's bat perked up on a day when he was getting a partial rest by playing first base instead of catcher. With Miami still in the NL wild-card picture, though, manager Don Mattingly can't afford to take one of his young stars out of the lineup completely too often. |
Aug 27 2017 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Sunday against the Padres, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | It's nothing more than a routine day off for Realmuto, who had started the last 15 games for the Marlins, with most of those nods coming behind the plate. The extensive workload seems to be wearing on Realmuto, who had managed just five hits in 33 at-bats over the past eight contests. A.J. Ellis checks in for him at catcher. |
Aug 25 2017 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Thursday's win over the Phillies. | Getting the start at first base -- and seeing action there for the fifth time in 2017, giving him extra position eligibility in many fantasy formats -- Realmuto hit his third homer in the last week and 16th of the season. His .200 (16-for-80) batting average in August may be due to fatigue, however, so don't be surprised if he gets a few more rest days, or partial rest days while he mans first, down the stretch. |
Aug 19 2017 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 3-1 win over the Mets. | His second-inning shot off Chris Flexen proved to be all the offense Justin Nicolino and the Marlins bullpen would need, Realmuto has already set new career highs in homers (14) and RBI (50) on the year, but his .196/.242/.339 slash line in August suggests he may be fading down the stretch as he continues to play nearly every day behind the plate. |
Aug 10 2017 | Realmuto is not in Thursday's lineup against the Nationals, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. | Realmuto will retreat to the bench after nine straight starts, going just 6-for-33 during that span. Besides two multi-hit games, the 26-year-old has been scuffling at the plate as of late, and gets a day off to clear his head while A.J. Ellis sets up behind the dish. |
Aug 6 2017 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's win over Atlanta. | Now up to a .306/.366/.489 slash line with 13 homers, 45 RBI, five stolen bases and 50 runs, Realmuto is providing high-end numbers from the catcher position. Additionally, his hefty workload behind the plate makes him all the more valuable and helps both his fantasy floor and ceiling. |
Jul 30 2017 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto has been red hot of late -- collecting eight hits in his past four contests -- but he'll get the day off as the Marlins square off against Luis Castillo and the Reds. The 26-year-old catcher may not hit double-digit steals again in 2017, but he's otherwise proving he hasn't yet reached his fantasy ceiling. |
Jul 27 2017 | Realmuto went 3-for-6 with two-run home run, three RBI and three runs during Wednesday's win over the Rangers. | Realmuto is turning in another strong fantasy campaign with a .307/.367/.484 slash line, 11 homers, 42 RBI and 44 runs. He's started 81 games, so his workload is another fantasy boost and has helped him climb the catcher ranks. Realmuto should be viewed as a high-end backstop moving forward. |
Jul 23 2017 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Sunday against the Reds, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | After back-to-back starts behind the plate, Realmuto will head to the bench for the afternoon series finale. A.J. Ellis will man the backstop in his stead. |

Jul 16 2017 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers. | Realmuto has started each of the first two games of the second half and seven in a row overall, so it was likely time for a regular day off. A.J. Ellis will man the backstop in his stead. |

The 26-year-old is solidifying his spot as one of the top fantasy catchers in baseball this season, but don't be surprised if his workload gets reduced a bit in the second half after playing in 73 of Miami's first 85 games. |
Jul 4 2017 | Realmuto went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Monday's loss to the Cardinals. | That's back-to-back three-hit efforts for the catcher, pushing his slash line on the year back up to .295/.352/.452. Realmuto may not reach double-digit steals again, but otherwise the 26-year-old is well on his way to a career season. |
Jul 4 2017 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Cardinals. | Realmuto will finally get a breather after starting five games in a row and 10 of the last 11 overall. A.J. Ellis is set to take over behind the plate for Tuesday's starter, Jose Urena. |
Jul 2 2017 | Realmuto went 3-for-6 with a double, two runs and two RBI Sunday in Milwaukee. | Realmuto was tremendous out of the leadoff spot with Dee Gordon sitting. His two-run single in the eight inning dashed any hopes of a Brewers comeback by making the score 9-3. The 26-year-old catcher is following up last season's .303/.343/.428 line with a .289/.348/.449 showing. |
Jul 2 2017 | Realmuto will catch and assume leadoff duties in Sunday's game against the Brewers, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto isn't expected to stick in the leadoff spot beyond Sunday since regular table setter Dee Gordon is simply receiving the day off for rest. |

Jun 24 2017 | Realmuto went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer Saturday against the Cubs. | Realmuto crushed his seventh homer of the season off Jon Lester to give the Marlins a first-inning lead in a game they'd eventually lose. His .289/.348/.461 slash line has made him a very useful fantasy option at the catcher position. |
Jun 21 2017 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto will head to the bench for what looks like a routine rest day, with an early-afternoon game on tap following a night game. A.J. Ellis will step in behind the plate. The 26-year-old Realmuto has hit safely in nine of his last 11 games and sits with an even .800 OPS for the season. |
Jun 18 2017 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Braves. | Realmuto has started the Marlins' previous five contests, so manager Don Mattingly will give the 26-year-old the day off ahead of Sunday's series finale against Mike Foltynewicz and the Braves. A.J. Ellis will take his place behind the plate. |
Jun 4 2017 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks. | It appears that Realmuto is simply getting a scheduled day of rest against Braden Shipley and the Diamondbacks on Sunday. The 26-year-old has been solid at the plate again this year, slashing .295/.365/.428 over the first two months of the season. He also added his second stolen base of the season Saturday. A.J. Ellis will draw the start behind the plate Sunday. |
May 31 2017 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto will get what looks like a breather, and it's well deserved -- he has started seven straight, with the last five starts coming on consecutive days. The 26-year-old isn't running as much as he did last year, but he's hitting and getting on base at a high clip, and he's on pace to best his counting totals from a year ago. He's one of the top fantasy options at the catcher position. |
May 27 2017 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's win over the Angels. | The catcher continues to enjoy another strong season at the plate, collecting hits in 15 of his last 18 games to push his slash line on the season to .307/.366/.447. Fantasy GMs expecting another useful contribution in steals might be disappointed by Realmuto's 1-for-2 performance on the basepaths so far, but otherwise the 26-year-old is ahead of last year's career-best pace in every category. |
May 21 2017 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | In an effort to both give his top backstop a rest and hand A.J. Ellis a start behind the plate in Los Angeles against his former team, manager Don Mattingly will hold Realmuto out of the lineup in the series finale. Realmuto was an on-base machine during the first three games of the series, going 3-for-10 with three walks, two runs and an RBI. |
May 20 2017 | Realmuto went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run in Friday's 7-2 loss to the Dodgers. | Realmuto has hit safely in each of his last eight starts, and is proving that last season's .303/.343/.428 line was no fluke. The young backstop is exceeding each of those numbers thus far this season (.309/.356/.441) and has also seen a reduction in strikeout rate (18.3 percent to 16.4 percent) and corresponding increase in contact rate (80 percent to 82 percent). Considering the relative lack of catcher depth fantasy-wise, he's one of the more valued assets at the position in all formats. |
May 17 2017 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's matinee against the Astros, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | It appears to be a routine day off for Realmuto, his second in the last four games. A.J. Ellis will start behind the backstop in his place. |
May 14 2017 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Braves. | After starting the team's last five games, Realmuto will get a breather Sunday as the Marlins face off against knuckleballer R.A. Dickey and the Braves. A.J. Ellis will draw the start in Realmuto's absence. |
May 12 2017 | Realmuto went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer in Friday's loss to the Braves. | Realmuto smacked a two-run homer in the seventh inning of a losing effort. Although this is his first homer since April 6, he has an outstanding batting average, making him a solid fantasy option at catcher. |
May 9 2017 | Realmuto is batting leadoff Tuesday against the Cardinals, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | The Marlins are trying to shake the order up to produce some runs, so they'll send Realmuto and his .317 batting average to the top of the order. He could be in line for a few more runs Tuesday while he's hitting ahead of Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna and Giancarlo Stanton. |
May 7 2017 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | After starting the Marlins' past six games, Realmuto will head to the bench Sunday for what appears to be a standard day of rest. Fellow backstop A.J. Ellis will take over starting catching duties in his absence. Expect Realmuto to be back in the lineup Monday against the Cardinals. |
May 3 2017 | Realmuto is hitting out of the leadoff spot Wednesday against the Rays, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports. | The 26-year-old is hitless in his last three starts, but with Dee Gordon getting the night off, Realmuto will top the order for the time being. He'll likely return to his lower positioning once Gordon re-enters the lineup, but for now, Realmuto could have more opportunities to score runs batting ahead of the heart of Miami's lineup. |
May 3 2017 | Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a triple, a walk, four RBI and two runs in Wednesday's win over the Rays. | He did all that while hitting leadoff, a little change of pace that busted Realmuto out of an 0-for-10 stretch over his last three games. The 26-year-old has been providing strong batting average, but this game was an exception in terms of counting stats, as he came in with just nine RBI and nine runs over 22 contests. |
Apr 30 2017 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. | After catching the past 11 games, it appears that Realmuto is receiving a scheduled day of rest during Sunday's afternoon tilt. A.J. Ellis will draw the start in his absence. Expect Realmuto to be back in the lineup Monday against the Rays. |
Apr 28 2017 | Realmuto is catching and batting leadoff Friday against the Pirates. | With Dee Gordon getting the day off, Realmuto slides to No. 1 in the order for just the second time this season. The 26-year-old doesn't have blazing speed, but owns a .340/.373/.456 career slash line as a leadoff hitter, providing a consistent threat at the top of the lineup. He carries a seven-game hitting streak into Friday night's matchup against Jameson Taillon. |
Apr 16 2017 | Realmuto (illness) is back in the lineup Sunday against the Mets. | Realmuto was given his second day off in three games Saturday, and it was later reported that he was feeling a bit under the weather. The 26-year-old and his 1.124 OPS will return to action Sunday, where he'll resume his spot in the batting order as the team's No. 2 hitter. |
Apr 15 2017 | Realmuto is not in the lineup Saturday against the Mets, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto will get the day off while A.J. Ellis takes over behind the dish. The 26-year-old is off to a nice start to the season, going 13-for-34 (.382) with seven runs and seven RBI through nine games. |
Apr 15 2017 | Realmuto is not in the lineup Saturday against the Mets because he is feeling under the weather, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | This would have been Realmuto's second day off in three games, so this makes more sense. He'll get some rest while A.J. Ellis starts behind the plate, though the Marlins feel he should be good to go Sunday. |
Apr 13 2017 | Realmuto is not in the lineup Thursday against the Mets, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto is off to a blistering start to the season, going 12-for-29 (.414) with two homers, seven runs and six RBI through seven games. He'll head to the bench in favor of A.J. Ellis Thursday, though he'll likely resume his duties behind the dish Friday. |
Apr 11 2017 | Realmuto won the NL Player of the Week Award after slashing .500/.542/.909 with two home runs, six RBI and six runs scored through five games, Tim Healey of the Sun-Sentinel reports. | The 26-year-old has all the tools to be an elite catcher both in real life and for fantasy purposes, and at least through the first week of the season Realmuto is delivering. Perhaps the most impressive thing about his hot start has been his plate discipline. After striking out 100 times against only 28 walks in 2016, he has a 2:1 BB:K through his first 24 plate appearances of 2017. |
Apr 8 2017 | Realmuto went 3-for-6 with a triple, two RBI and a run against the Mets on Saturday. | He got to hit leadoff with Dee Gordon drawing a day off, and Realmuto kept his season-opening hot streak going with his fourth consecutive multi-hit game. Indeed, the young catcher's early returns have been fantastic -- he's put up four extra-base hits among his 10 total knocks, and he's got six RBI and runs apiece. Realmuto appears poised to outdo last year's already solid numbers, which means he should be a rock-solid starting catcher in just about any format. |
Apr 8 2017 | Realmuto will play catcher and bat leadoff for Saturday's game against the Mets, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | After getting the day off Friday, Realmuto is back behind the dish Saturday while also sliding up in the order to fill in for Dee Gordon as leadoff. Manager Don Mattingly will look to ride the 26-year-old's scorching start to the season, as he is 7-for-12 (.583) with two homers and four RBI through three games. |
Apr 7 2017 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, two RBI and his second home run of the season in Thursday's extra-inning win over the Nationals. | The catcher's two-run blast off Shawn Kelley in the eight inning knotted the ballgame at 2-2, and he then came around for the winning run on Justin Bour's double in the 10th. The Nats will be glad to see Realmuto leave town after he slashed an absurd .583/.643/1.167 through the first three games of the season. |
Apr 7 2017 | Realmuto is not in the lineup Friday against the Mets, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | The 26-year-old catcher has been white hot to begin the season, putting up a 1.810 OPS through the first three games of the campaign. He'll head to the bench for a normal day of rest and cede the start to A.J. Ellis. Realmuto should be back in the lineup Saturday given his success at the plate. |
Apr 6 2017 | Realmuto is batting sixth in the Marlins' lineup against the Nationals on Thursday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto had been a staple in the two-hole for Miami's first two contests, but after the light show he's put on through the first two games, it appears that manager Don Mattingly wanted to put Realmuto in more of a run-producing position in the lineup against left-handed hurler Gio Gonzalez. It's unclear if this is a temporary switch or a sign of things to come, but this position in the lineup could help Realmuto drive in more runs than he's been able to the past couple years. |
Apr 5 2017 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBI including a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Nationals. | The Marlins catcher is 4-for-8 at the plate to begin the season but he also flashed his defensive skills Wednesday, gunning down Bryce Harper on a steal attempt and picking off Jayson Werth at second base. Realmuto's offense took a big step forward in 2016, but he may not have reached his ceiling yet. |
Apr 4 2017 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Nationals. | He hit second in the order for the Marlins between Dee Gordon and Christian Yelich, a spot that should allow Realmuto to potentially top last season's 60 runs and 48 RBI (both career highs) if he's able to hang onto it. The 26-year-old is quietly moving into the upper tier of fantasy catchers given his potential for five-category contributions. |
Feb 13 2017 | Realmuto is expected to see some action at first base in 2017, The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. | He'll still be the Marlins' primary catcher, but if the team elects to carry an extra arm in their bullpen, they'll likely forego having a regular platoon partner for Justin Bour at first base and instead have Realmuto spell him on occasion against tough lefties. The 25-year-old backstop is athletic enough to pick up the new defensive assignment and is coming off a career season in which he posted a .771 OPS, so it makes sense for the Marlins to find ways to keep his bat in the lineup. Realmuto played in 137 games and received 509 at-bats in 2016, though, so don't expect a big increase in his playing time, even with the added responsibility. |
Oct 2 2016 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Sunday's season finale against the Nationals, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports. | Realmuto will rest for a second straight day as the Marlins' season comes to a close. He will finish the season (barring a pinch-hit appearance) having posted a .300/.343/.428 batting line with 11 home runs and 12 stolen bases, both career-highs, while Tomas Telis will man duties behind the plate. |
Oct 1 2016 | Realmuto is not in Saturday's lineup against the Nationals, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. | Given how weak the catcher position is, Realmuto will easily finish the year as a top-10 option at the position. His .303 batting average was aided somewhat by a .357 BABIP (career .323 BABIP), but the 11 homers and 12 steals seem like reasonable benchmarks moving forward, as he won't turn 26 until March 18. Jeff Mathis will start behind the dish and hit eighth. |
Sep 28 2016 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Mets. | Jeff Mathis will take over behind the plate as Realmuto sits for the first time since Sept. 18. Realmuto's contact rate has dipped this year and that dip has not come with much of an uptick in power, but the 25-year-old has routinely found holes (.360 BABIP) and he runs more than any other player at the position. He's done enough across the board to be a top-5 catcher in terms of earned fantasy value this season. |
Sep 23 2016 | Realmuto cranked a solo home run during Thursday's loss to the Braves. | Realmuto's seventh-inning blast was his 11th on the year, marking a new career high and pushing his overall line to a strong .308/.349/.437 over 490 at-bats. The 25-year-old backsto has taken a massive step forward in his second full season in the majors, posting a .786 OPS on the year -- nearly 100 points better than his performance last season -- while chipping in double digit homers and steals. |
Sep 18 2016 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Sunday against the Phillies, MLB.com reports. | Realmuto had been behind the plate for six days in a row, so he's due for a day off in the series finale. Jeff Mathis will replace Realmuto behind the plate and bat seventh in the order. |
Sep 10 2016 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Saturday against the Dodgers, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. | One of the more heavily used catchers in the game, Realmuto has started 11 of the last 12 games for Miami. Jeff Mathis will get the start at catcher and hit seventh Saturday against lefty Rich Hill. |
Sep 9 2016 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two runs scored in a win over the Dodgers Friday. | Realmuto welcomed Clayton Kershaw back to the mound with a solo home run in the first inning, and he walked and scored in the fifth to provide an insurance run. He has emerged as one of the better fantasy catcher options, slashing .313/.353/.441 on the season with 56 runs, 41 RBI and 11 steals. |
Sep 5 2016 | Realmuto went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Monday's loss to the Phillies. | Realmuto has been a bright spot for the Marlins this season, hitting .311 with nine home runs and 11 stolen bases. The backstop has been very consistent this year, hitting at least .284 in every month. Just 25, Realmuto should continue to produce through September and into 2017. |
Sep 2 2016 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and a strikeout Friday against the Indians. It was his second consecutive three-hit performance. | While Realmuto's power numbers are significantly down from the first half of the season (just three homers and nine RBI for the month of August), he is still batting .291 since the All-Star break and has now gone 8-for-12 over the past three games. |
Sep 1 2016 | Realmuto is not in Thursday's lineup against the Mets, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto was behind the plate in the last four contests -- racking up seven hits in that span -- so he'll get what looks to be just an ordinary day off Thursday. Jeff Mathis will handle the catching duties in his stead and bat seventh against Mets starter Jacob deGrom. |
Aug 30 2016 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a home run in a 7-4 loss against the Mets on Tuesday. | Realmuto has struggled somewhat of late, hitting just .208 in his last seven games. Yet he's been solid overall in 2016, hitting .304 with 11 steals, the most of any catcher in baseball. Part of Realmuto's value lies in his playing time, as he gets fewer days off than most other catchers and ranks fourth among all catchers in at-bats. |
Aug 27 2016 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto will get a chance to rest his legs after starting seven straight games (four straight since the team's last off day) as Jeff Mathis takes over behind the plate. Realmuto is still sitting with just one home run and two stolen bases since the All-Star break, but he continues to get on base at a useful clip. |
Aug 20 2016 | Realmuto slugged his sixth home run of the season as part of a 3-for-3 night at the dish in a win over the Pirates on Friday. | The hot-hitting catcher also drew a walk on the evening, bringing his overall line to .312/.355/.418 on the year. He's also provided 23 doubles and 11 steals while scoring 45 runs and driving in 34 over 414 at-bats. |
Aug 18 2016 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Reds, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. | Since his 11-game hitting streak ended Aug. 10, Realmuto has gone just 4-for-21 at the plate with one extra-base hit (a double). He'll get his regularly scheduled day off Thursday, with Jeff Mathis taking duties behind the plate and batting seventh, but Realmuto should rejoin the lineup Friday. |
Aug 14 2016 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Sunday against the White Sox, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. | Realmuto put in a full day's work Saturday evening in his third straight start, so he'll head to the bench Sunday for a day of rest, giving way to Jeff Mathis behind the plate. |
Aug 9 2016 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Tuesday's matchup with San Francisco, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | After seeing action in four consecutive games, Realmuto will start Tuesday on the bench as Jeff Mathis fills in behind the dish and bats seventh. Realmuto will resume an 11-game hit streak when he returns to the lineup. |
Aug 7 2016 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rockies, Jenny Cavnar of Root Sports reports. | Realmuto will have the day off as Jeff Mathis starts behind the dish for the Marlins. Realmuto has been swinging the bat well in recent outing and is 7-for-19 (.368) over the last seven days. He'll likely return to the lineup Monday against the Giants. |

Jul 30 2016 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Saturday against the Cardinals, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. | Jeff Mathis will step in behind the plate to catch for starter Colin Rea as Realmuto sits following three straight starts. Realmuto is now batting .325/.371/.398 for the month of July, his third straight month hitting over .300. He's been a top-five catcher so far in traditional fantasy leagues. |
Jul 28 2016 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, one walk, two runs scored and one RBI in Wednesday's 11-1 rout of the Phillies. | Realmuto reached base four times in what is likely his last start atop the lineup as speedster Dee Gordon returns to the team Thursday. Realmuto has done an admirable job as the leadoff man while breaking out with a robust .313/.347/.417 slash through 326 at-bats this season. It will be interesting to see just how Manager Don Mattingly handles the playing time and lineup now that Gordon is back in the mix, but Realmuto will remain a valuable contributor regardless of where he is positioned offensively. |
Jul 26 2016 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest with Philadelphia, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto will get his third game off in the Marlins' last 12 as Jeff Mathis fills in behind the dish, batting seventh. |
Jul 17 2016 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals. | Realmuto has started the first two games of the series, and six straight overall dating back to before the All-Star break, so he was likely due for a regular day of rest. Realmuto is enjoying life at the top of the Marlins' batting order, hitting .360/.377/.480 in 50 at-bats from the leadoff spot, so expect him to remain there after the All-Star break and continue supplying excellent SB numbers for a catcher. |
Jul 10 2016 | Realmuto went 2-for-3 with a walk and scored three times in Saturday's victory over the Reds. | The young catcher continues to play the part of leadoff man, batting .319/.350/.430 over 279 at-bats this season. |
Jul 4 2016 | Realmuto went 4-for-4 with a run scored and a walk in Monday's loss to the Mets. | Realmuto now has a seven-game hitting streak, with four of those games including multiple hits. This marks Realmuto's second four-hit game in the past month as he continues to establish himself as one of the best hitters for contact at the catcher position. His batting average his now up to .325, behind only Wilson Ramos among qualified catchers. |
Jul 1 2016 | Realmuto slashed three singles and scored a run in Thursday's loss to the Braves. | The 25-year-old backstop continues to hold his own offensively, slashing .307/.336/.418 over 251 at-bats. He has just four home runs on the year, but that's coupled with 16 doubles and four steals as Realmuto provides steady production across the board. While he's clearly reaped the benefits of a .358 so far this, Realmuto will continue to be an above average offensive producer at the catcher position. |
Jun 26 2016 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cubs. | The Marlins will roll out a regular lineup Sunday, with the exception of both Realmuto and Marcell Ozuna (wrist). Jeff Mathis will get the start behind the plate for what is presumably a regular day of rest of Realmuto. |
Jun 22 2016 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game with the Braves. | Realmuto will get the day off after catching the last two games. Jeff Mathis will start behind the plate in his stead and bat eighth. |

This was the eighth time this season Realmuto had at least three base hits in a game, and second time he had four. He is batting .305 with four homers, 22 RBI and 24 runs in 223 at-bats this season. |
Jun 14 2016 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest with San Diego, Craig Davis of the Sun Sentinel reports. | Realmuto is getting his first game off in four, giving way to Jeff Mathis who's making his 15th start behind the dish this season. After going 9-for-48 (.188) during the first two weeks of the season, Realmuto has caught fire, collecting at least one hit in 33 of his last 44 games and raising his average to .300. |
Jun 12 2016 | Realmuto will bat in the leadoff spot Sunday against the Diamondbacks. | This is a bit of a unique spot for Realmuto, who will bat leadoff for just the seventh time this season. Oddly enough, the backstop owns just a .209 on-base percentage against left-handed pitching this season, although he does sport a .290 career mark. In any case, manager Don Mattingly will elect to get things going with Realmuto, while the regular leadoff man, lefty Derek Dietrich, bats seventh in the order. |
Jun 12 2016 | Realmuto blasted a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Diamondbacks. | Realmuto's fourth inning solo shot gave the Marlins a two run lead that starter Jose Fernandez could not hold. The blast was just his third on the year, but is coupled with a very solid .305/.335/.415 slash line over 200 at-bats. The catcher has also chipped in three steals while scoring 22 runs and driving home 16 RBI on the year. |
Jun 10 2016 | Realmuto went 3-for-4, was hit by a pitch and scored two runs in a 10-3 blowout of the Twins on Thursday. | The Marlins are shockingly rolling out five .300 hitters in their starting lineup, and Realmuto's one of them, as he's up to .306 after this performance. He slotted in as the No. 8 hitter for this interleague game, but has most often been the seventh hitter for Miami this year; those non-premium lineup positions have conspired to limit his counting stats, but Realmuto's excellent contact skills play in any slot. |
Jun 10 2016 | Realmuto is not in Friday's lineup against the Diamondbacks, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto has started more than five games in a row only once this season, so he'll take a seat while Jeff Mathis starts behind the plate. Realmuto was coming off a 3-for-4 performance on Thursday and is now hitting .306. |
Jun 3 2016 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Mets, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto caught the last four games for the Marlins and will take a day off in favor of Jeff Mathis for Friday's contest. |
May 17 2016 | Realmuto is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Phillies, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports. | This appears to be a regular day off for Realmuto even though he's in the midst of a hot streak where he's batting .364 over the past week. He'll likely head back into the lineup Wednesday to continue his torrid hitting ways, but he'll cede Tuesday's start at catcher to Jeff Mathis. |
May 16 2016 | Realmuto went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Nationals. | He continues to collect base hits by the bushel, and Realmuto is now hitting .347/.340/.429 in 49 May at-bats. That OBP is not a typo, as he has yet to draw a walk this month and has a 1:13 BB:K on the season, so it'll be difficult for him to maintain a high batting average given his poor plate discipline. Enjoy the hot streak while it lasts, but don't expect Realmuto to be hitting .314 in August. |
May 14 2016 | Realmuto went 2-for-5 with his second stolen base of the season in Friday's loss to the Nationals. | The young backstop has been seeing time out of the leadoff spot against left-handed pitching and is batting a solid .306/.316/.432 on the year. The speed is legit -- Realmuto topped out with 18 steals back in 2014 in the minors -- and he's a real threat to pile up double digit swipes as a catcher. |
May 7 2016 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Saturday against the Phillies. | He has started six games in a row, so Realmuto was due for a day off. Jeff Mathis will start at catcher and hit eighth Saturday. |
May 5 2016 | Making a second straight start out of the leadoff spot, Realmuto went 3-for-4 with one run scored in Wednesday's win over the Diamondbacks. | The Marlins' are apparently willing to look just about anywhere to replace Dee Gordon's presence atop the lineup while the speedy second baseman is suspended and Realmuto has earned the chance to prove himself in back-to-back starts. The catcher is working a strong .329/.341/.482 slash line following Wednesday's three-hit effort and is back at the top of the order for Thursday's series finale. |
May 1 2016 | Realmuto went 3-for-5 Sunday with with fifth double of the season. | It's his third straight multi-hit game, pushing Realmuto's slash line on the season to a robust .312/.329/.455. His poor plate discipline (11:1 K:BB) suggests that he won't be able to maintain that batting average, however. |
Apr 29 2016 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers. | Realmuto gets the night off Friday after catching each of the last seven games for the Marlins. |
Apr 28 2016 | Realmuto hit his second homer of the year as part of a 2-for-4 evening with two runs scored against the Dodgers on Thursday. | Not a week ago, he was hitting .188; in the span of five games, Realmuto's racked up 10 hits in 19 at-bats, raising that average nearly 100 points to .284. That's April sample sizes for you. The 25-year-old catcher has been a workhorse early on, appearing in 18 of the Marlins' 21 games so far -- an amount of playing time that should keep him quite relevant across the majority of fantasy formats. |
Apr 23 2016 | Realmuto is not in Saturday's lineup against the Giants, the Miami Herald's Andre Fernandez reports. | He has started four of the last five games, and will get the day off again Saturday with Jose Fernandez on the mound. Jeff Mathis will start at catcher and hit eighth Saturday against Jake Peavy and the Giants. |
Apr 21 2016 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto went just 2-for-22 over his last seven games, and the Marlins are facing Nationals ace Max Scherzer on Thursday, so Realmuto will receive the day off to clear his head. |
Mar 28 2016 | Realmuto continued his hot spring Sunday against the Cardinals, driving in two runs and scoring a run while going 2-for-3 at the plate. | The 25-year-old catcher is batting .324/.350/.378 over 37 Grapefruit League at-bats, mostly hitting seventh in the batting order. He has yet to show much pop this spring, but Realmuto offers double digit power potential and can also chip in a handful of stolen bases. If Realmuto can carry his spring success into the regular season, he will have no problem topping the solid .259/.290/.406 batting line he posted as a rookie last season. |
Mar 17 2016 | Realmuto is off to a solid start at the dish during Grapefruit League play, batting .316 (6-for-19) with two walks, a double and two RBI over eight games. | Locked in as the Marlins' starting backstop, Realmuto will look to take a step forward from the respectable .259/.290/.406 line he posted over 126 as a rookie. He knocked 10 home runs in limited time last year and also chipped in eight steals. Given that he posted double digit stolen base totals in three of his four full minor league seasons (2011-2014), Realmuto offers a under-the-radar blend of power and speed at his position. |

Realmuto is batting a cool .310/.333/.517 over the past 30 days while becoming more and more comfortable at the major league level. Though continues to fly under the radar in Miami's stagnant lineup, Realmuto has been productive enough to warrant a look in all formats. |
Jul 24 2015 | Realmuto is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Padres, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | This will be Realmuto's second day off in the last 10 games, so it's some deserved rest for the 24-year-old backstop. Now hitting .247 with 25 RBI, Realmuto doesn't offer a lot of offensive upside, but he is settling in as the Marlins' primary backstop and should see fairly regular playing time as the season progresses. |

Derek Dietrich has mostly filled the role thus far and has done a nice job, but he'll bat fifth in Tuesday's lineup. |
Jun 21 2015 | Realmuto isn't in Sunday's lineup against the Reds, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto will receive the day game off Sunday after two straight starts behind the plate following a back injury. |

Regardless, Jeff Mathis is now set to catch and bat seventh against right-hander Michael Pineda. |
Jun 13 2015 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | The 24-year-old hit a three-run homer in Friday's win, raising his average for the month to .371, but he'll give way to Jeff Mathis on Saturday. |
Jun 12 2015 | Realmuto was 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Miami's win over Colorado on Friday night. | His blast in the eighth inning broke open a 2-1 game, and continued Realmuto's hot hitting. He has raised his average from .209 to .246 in the past week, and now has three home runs to go with 15 RBI on the year. He's the future behind the plate in Miami, so if he can continue to contribute offensively, he will likely see an increase in playing time as the season progresses. |
Jun 6 2015 | Realmuto had a perfect 4-for-4 night at the plate in Friday's win over the Rockies, scoring once and driving in a run. | The rookie backstop is slashing a modest .230/.256/.368 over 42 games this year, but he's hit in three straight starts. The Marlins are perfectly happy letting Realmuto take his time to develop as a contributor at the plate while settling in as the manager of the pitching staff, so he will continue to get plenty of at-bats moving forward. |
Jun 6 2015 | Realmuto is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | Realmuto accounted for a career-high four hits in Friday's win, but will sit Saturday in favor of Jeff Mathis. |
May 30 2015 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 Saturday with two runs scored, two RBI, his second home run and his second steal of the season. | Both stolen bases have come in the last three games, as the rookie works to remind people of his full offensive skill set. Realmuto's .215/.245/.348 slash line makes him tough to roster in many formats, but the Marlins seem committed to him as their starting catcher for the remainder of the year, so if you can withstand the damage to your batting average, his power and speed contributions could be useful. |
May 24 2015 | Realmuto is not in the lineup Sunday against the Orioles. | Realmuto is batting below the Mendoza line in May, recording twice as many strikeouts (10) as walks (five). |
May 18 2015 | Realmuto launched his first career home run Monday, but it wasn't enough in an extra-innings loss to Arizona. | The young backstop has struggled at the dish this month, as he's hitting just .216 in May. |
May 10 2015 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Sunday against the Giants, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. | Realmuto will get a regular day off after starting six straight games for the Marlins. Jhonatan Solano will man the backstop in his stead. |
May 3 2015 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Sunday against the Phillies, MLB.com reports. | The Marlins' decision to drop Jarrod Saltalamacchia from their 40-man roster last Monday reinforces that Realmuto is indeed their everyday catching option, so Sunday's absence shouldn't be viewed as anything more than a routine day off. The 24-year-old, who is batting .245 with no homers, six RBI, and six runs scored over 56 plate appearances, will be replaced by backup Jhonatan Solano on Sunday. |
Apr 18 2015 | Realmuto is out of the lineup Saturday against the Mets. | After three straight starts behind the plate for Miami, Realmuto will give way to Jarrod Saltalamacchia on Saturday. |

The skipper did suggest Thursday that Realmuto will see more time moving forward, saying "we'll try to get him in there as much as we can," but the 24-year-old Realmuto will need to perform in order to keep Saltalamacchia on the bench. |

Apr 16 2015 | Realmuto could see more time behind the plate moving forward, MLB.com reports. "[Realmuto] is a guy that played a lot in the minor leagues," manager Mike Redmond said Thursday. "With young guys, you want to be careful not to sit them on the bench for an extended period of time and get them in there. So we'll try to get him in there as much as we can. We'll see how we go from there." | Realmuto, a third-round pick in 2010, went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs scored in his first start of the year Wednesday, a performance which earned him another nod Thursday night. Meanwhile, Jarrod Saltalamacchia has gone 2-for-22 with 11 strikeouts to begin the season, and it sounds like he may find himself sitting more frequently than most primary catchers until performance dictates otherwise. "If giving [Saltalamacchia] a few extra days here or there helps him and helps us, then it will be worth it," Redmond said. |

Apr 15 2015 | Realmuto is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Braves, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. | Realmuto will get the start in place of Jarrod Saltalamacchia with the Marlins playing an early afternoon game on the heels of Tuesday's night game. Realmuto will catch Dan Haren and bat seventh in his first start of the 2015 season. |

Apr 13 2015 | Realmuto was officially recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Monday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. | Realmuto is the organization's No. 4 prospect, but is expected to serve as a backup (at least initially) to Jarrod Saltalamacchia. The latter is batting just .143 in the first week of the season, however, and if those struggles continue, it's possible Realmuto gets a bit more playing time than expected. The regular backup catchers, Jeff Mathis and Don Kelly, both hit the disabled list Monday with broken fingers. |
Apr 13 2015 | The Marlins will call up Realmuto on Monday, the Miami Herald reports. | Realmuto will replace the injured Jeff Mathis on the roster, and Mathis will be out 4-to-6 weeks. There's a chance that Realmuto could earn more playing time than your average backup if Jarrod Saltalamacchia keeps struggling. |
Mar 18 2015 | Realmuto was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Wednesday. | Realmuto's option all but ensures Jeff Mathis will serve as the Marlins backup catcher behind Jarrod Saltalamacchia to begin the 2015 campaign. However, the young backstop still remains one of the top prospects in the Marlins organization, and failure to produce by the catchers currently on the big league roster could lead to a recall at some point in the season. |
Sep 26 2014 | Realmuto filled up the scoresheet going 3-for-5 with two runs and four RBI in Miami's win over the Nationals on Friday night. | He's a good one, and the heir-apparent to the starting gig behind the plate. He missed the cycle by a home run and is now hitting .269 with nine RBI in limited duty during brief call-ups across the season. He is just 23 and spent most of this year at Double-A Jacksonville so there is still likely to be more time invested in his development, but he could have a bright future. |
Sep 13 2014 | Realmuto was recalled from Double-A Jacksonville on Saturday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. | Reamlmuto will give the Marlins a third catching option and an extra bat off the bench with Giancarlo Stanton likely out for the season. He likely won't see much work over the next couple weeks, but could see a spot start or two and also could be used as a pinch hitter. |
Jul 28 2014 | Realmuto was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Monday. | Realmuto did not see any action during his recent call-up, but was 4-for-20 at the dish with five RBI in a previous June stint. He'll head back to New Orleans, where he owns a .301/.368/.474 slash line over 272 at-bats. Jake Marisnick will take his spot on the roster. |
Jul 25 2014 | Realmuto was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Friday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | The Marlins are in Houston this weekend, and with Jarrod Saltalamacchia serving as the DH on Friday, the team went ahead and brought Realmuto up for some security depth behind the plate. Realmuto collected just four hits (all singles) in 21 plate appearances with the big club earlier this season, and he'll likely be headed back down next week. |

Jun 18 2014 | Realmuto was optioned to Double-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. | With Jarrod Saltalamacchia (concussion) coming off the DL, the Marlins went ahead and sent Realmuto back to Jacksonville. It's hardly a surprise, as Realmuto struggled in his first cup of coffee with the big club (.200/.238/.200) and never threatened to take veteran Jeff Mathis' job as the backup. Saltalamacchia will return to the lineup Thursday. |
Jun 5 2014 | Realmuto went 2-for-4 with three RBI in his MLB debut Thursday in Tampa Bay. | Heck of a start for the kid. He was hitting .301 with five homers and seven steals while continuing to flash his terrific contact skills in Double-A Jacksonville, and could offer some fantasy productivity at the catcher position while Jarrod Saltalamacchia (concussion) remains out. |
Jun 4 2014 | Victorino (hamstring) is not scheduled to play in rehab games until the end of the Red Sox' current road trip, which means he's unlikely to see action until at least next Thursday (June 12), WEEI.com reports. | Victorino just started some light running over the past day or two, and the Red Sox have made it clear that they do not want him to aggravate the injury any further. He has had some problems with his hamstring dating back to last season, and due to the offensive struggles the Red Sox have had this year, the team wants to make sure they can get him back in the lineup and keep him there. Victorino had just two steals in 21 games before being placed on the DL, and with him returning from a hamstring injury, it's possible the team could ask him to dial it back a bit on the basepaths to try and ensure that he doesn't reinjure himself in the early going. |
Jun 1 2014 | Realmuto has been called up from Double-A Jacksonville, Juan C. Rodriguez of the Miami Sun-Sentinel reports. | Realmuto, rated as one of the Marlins' top-10 prospects by MLB.com, has been brought up from Double-A to replace Jarrod Saltalamacchia (concussion) for at least the next week. The young catcher has posted a strong .301/.364/.503 slash line with 22 extra-base hits over 46 games with Jacksonville this season. He will split time with Jeff Mathis until Saltalamacchia is able to return. |
Nov 21 2013 | Realmuto was added to the Marlins' 40-man roster Wednesday, MLB.com reports | Realmuto struggled through a down year at DOuble-A Jacksonville, batting just .239/.310/.353 over 416 plate appearances, while also watching his power output dip for a second straight season. Still, the Marlins have high hopes for the infielder-turned-catcher heading into his age-23 season and made the move despite already carrying three catchers on the 40-man roster. |
